The d&d slander in this episode was so fucking funny. This guy goes "yeah d&d was dumb I'm not into that nerd shit. Also I grew a goatee and walk around in a long dark coat because I like being a mysterious stranger, I even have a silly voice for it."

This is really bittersweet to me. I'm torn. I would like to enjoy them being together, but it is made a bitter thing due to how Jeremy writes their "romance". Well. It's supposed to read like a romance.

Hal can't take no for an answer and stalks Carol after Carol firmly turned him down. It reads like he's following the alpha male advice of "don't accept it when a woman rejects you, keep insisting until you tire her out".

Meanwhile Carol is written like she's insecure, like she's too hormonal for her own good. She's written as manipulative, literally tricking her own fiance into eloping with her only to then get too emotional, get her Star Sapphire ring, and leave her almost husband at the altar. Because she's so insecure and confused she just doesn't understand she loves Hal until the very last minute.

And then? Then what should arguably be HER moment is made to be all about Hal. She's riding the Hal train so hard. Suddenly her goals, ambitions, thoughts, everything, is reduced to Hal. Where is Hal, how is Hal, why is Hal, I need Hal. It's supposed to be a good thing, by the way. This regression of her character is supposed to be good.

She only JUST NOW understands what it is to be a hero, despite having already done heroic things before, because she's in love with Hal and wants to be a hero alongside Hal. It's supposed to be HER moment, but it is not. It's Hal's, and she's defined through Hal.

Where is the self assured Carol of times past? Where is the grown woman who stood her ground and didn't let herself be defined by a man?

Jeremy thinks he's writing a romance. All I'm seeing here is stalking and ignoring when a woman says no being treated as okay, because women don't really know what they want when they say no.
