"Thank you for not making me feel as if I'm crazy for not knowing the actual name of this game. I'm from Texas. You would think I would have seen this at some point in my life. The game? Absolutely. The name?" Roxana shook her head. "Not in my life. Honestly, I thought the name was created by that Mike Judge cartoon. The one with the two laughing guys" She'd seen clips of the show years ago but is more familiar with King of the Hill and the fact Daria was initially created in the Beavis and Butthead cartoon. "We can take turns. Your football skills could help edge you in the lead in this game. I imagine it's not an easy feat to throw a football through a hoop? Why hoop? I thought that's for basketball?"

"Happy to meet you, Chase. If I ever ask too many questions, please let me know. I don't want to come across as nosy." The beanbag helped slightly ground her, and Roxana smiled at him while she said, "Gutsy? You can say that. It's my 2nd move to a new place on my own. I suppose I'm used to doing most things on my own." Was it okay to admit to someone she doesn't know? "How about yourself, Chase? Are you new? A long-time resident?" She thanked him for buying a new round and went to the front of the board. "Okay, let's see how well this goes." She took a deep breath and calculated her throw as if she were in the championships. The bag sailed through the air and landed to the right of the middle hole. "I didn't hit anyone! That's a win to me." She did a little happy victory dance on the spot.

Her enthusiasm and giddy smile brought his own grin back to his lips. "Yes, exactly! When I was a kid we always called it that for like field days and stuff. I never actually heard the term cornhole until I was an adult. I feel like they didn't quite think that one through." Chase didn't mind handing over the game. However, her generosity couldn't be ignored. It would be more fun to play together anyhow. "I really don't mind, but sure. We can split them up. Wanna take turns?" Chase chuckled at that as he handed over some money to the worker for another round of tosses. "Well, considering I haven't hit any either, we're starting out in a tie. I'm much better at throwing a football through a hoop." Her introduction came as a welcomed surprise. Chase had feared he got off on the wrong foot with her, but this immediately put him at ease. "It's nice to meet you, Roxana. I'm Chase." Softness laced his features as he gave her another smile. "That's pretty gutsy of you, honestly. I hope everyone's been welcoming to you. Did you just move here? I promise, most people in this town are genuinely good." His eyes followed hers to the crowd, then landed back on Roxana. "Just be yourself. You've already got that workin' for you."

So about that cut thread:

In the book, Percy sees the Fates cut a thread early on, and is scared because this means that someone is going to die. In the show we have Annabeth seeing it instead, a bit later in the season, but absolutely sharing the fear that book Percy felt.

However, we know that it didn't mean that one of them was going to die during the quest. In the Last Olympian, it is confirmed that the thread that was cut so early on in the series, was about Luke sacrificing himself to kill Kronos. Luke! The cut thread was never about Percy or Annabeth or Grover. It was about Luke at the very end of the series!

With that in mind, it makes so much more sense for Annabeth to see the Fates instead of Percy! After all, she is so much closer to Luke than Percy is. Now Annabeth is going to be fearing for Percy's or her own death for literal YEARS, until she is finally going to find out that it was about her oldest friend, her big brother, LUKE, all along!

anyway before i got extremo derailed tonight, i was reading neon's curated collection of quotes from a russian interview with klim kostin and it got me wondering if any nhl teams keep chaplains on staff. considering this is the league where they will not even provide translators or language teachers like 95% of the time, i wasn't expecting them to, but cursory research turned up hockey ministries international which appears to pair local christian church pastors with junior, minor, and major leagues and call it chaplaincy even though everything on their website feels like youth pastor jock version. also found this very interesting if christian-focused athletic article from 2019 about the roles of faith in the nhl which mentions 23 nhl teams having a chaplain on staff. but the entire framing around the hmi program and chaplains in the nhl seemed to be around christianity? which admittedly i have only experienced chaplaincy in relation to hospice or extreme crisis situations so maybe single-faith focused chaplaincy is more standard when people aren't like imminently dying.

all of which of course gave me one million more questions while i was doing the dishes. like -- inclusitivity 101 but if they hired chaplains with interfaith training at all levels would they start seeing more religiously and culturally diverse players. and was also wondering if, even though hmi claims to be non-denominational, what kinds of outreach they do for orthodox players like kostin (i assume) or vasilevskiy (mentioned in the article) because none of the language on their website felt ecumenical. and also what kind of spiritual care they offer players in player assistance -- i feel like it's not uncommon to hear about goalies finding religion and coming out of player assistance concurrently. and also the number of goalies themselves who are christian, which was particularly interesting to me, as in the article, most of the ones who self-identified didn't come to faith until adulthood or were deeply on the pro-league career track. i also think about like--like what are the ahl (or echl/sphl) chaplains doing for the players who were raised with prosperity gospel and the various threads associated with that

and these are all very fascinating trains of thought for me to chase bc i love thinking about how faith impacts our lives broadly and in my little hobbies specifically but what i kept getting stuck on is if the framing around spiritual care in the nhl is all christianity, who is providing spiritual care at each stop for nazem kadri, who is a practicing muslim

Chase is sweet and cute, and Roxana finds it hard to conceal how her face blushes at his kind words. No, she's not shy, not in the slightest, but she's been on edge for a couple of years, which affects how she comes across to others. With a slight head tilt, she smiled and asked, "If they didn't tell you to keep to one dog, just how many would you have left with that day?" She can't fathom the chaos in her home if she had two hyperactive dogs. She might have to get rid of all the furniture to minimize destruction. Kiba seems happy with the way things are now. Besides, the dog park gives him the socialization he lacks. There's doggy daycare, which is an option she may consider if she decides to explore volunteer work.

"A friend as in a playmate, or do you want to adopt another dog to bring into the family? I can't tell if Kiba wants another dog around as he has a full run of the house. If there's another dog, they might take over and destroy everything." She laughed. "I think this dog park and maybe a daycare can be a way for him to meet other dogs. It'll be easier on me and less mess to clean." Roxana paused and added, "Watch in a few months. I have two dogs with me at this dog park." She shook her head, clearly amused by this.

Given how the sun showered bright light all over everything, Roxana didn't notice Chase's flush, but she picked up something, he said. "Family? Does your family own the ranch you work at?" She doesn't know much about the places in Bearcreek, and if she intends to make this her new home, then it's time she learns. "What's dressing up in your line of work? Because I can't picture you riding a horse while wearing a suit and tie." This brought an unexpected laugh, and Roxana covered her mouth, which caused her to laugh some more. "Sorry. It was a funny picture. I imagined you in that outfit and the horse with a bowtie."

"Thank God I don't feel rushed unless you count rushing myself? There was a time when I used to go out almost every night after work with friends for dinner and drinks. On the weekends, we'd hit a club and dance all night. I miss that part of my life, and I haven't been able to find it here. I think I'll need to explore outside of Bearcreek for clubs, but it'll be nice to have dinner and drinks again. Nick, the darling he is, goes out with me from time to time. We went to this one karaoke place, which was...entertaining." She smiled at the memory from that night and how carefree she felt. " Roxana placed a hand on his arm and laughed. "It's fine, Chase. I didn't think Copper learned that move from you. Though if I were to ever see you do that with someone on the Ranch, then I'll-" She didn't know what to add here because the idea was hilariously ludicrous. "I can't remember the last time I laughed this much." Her stomach hurts from it, though it's a good kind of hurt.

The way Chase lit up at her words caused a bright smile to form, one matching his. "Don't know about fishing because that involves touching slimy worms and bait." She made a face at this. "The other things? I can try to see if it's something I like. Text me whenever you're free, and I can drive to your ranch." She said and then asked, "What's your number? I'll send a text now; you can save mine." She offered and brought her phone out of her side bag. The motion alerted Kiba, who ran over and was expecting treats. She gave him a couple and returned her attention to Chase. "Carnival? I don't know anything about a carnival. Wasn't Founder's Day practically yesterday?"

Chase wasn't sure if Roxana was generally shy, or still just adapting to new surroundings, but he hoped either way she was feeling more comfortable in Bearcreek. He would make it his mission to see that she did. "Hey, if there was a way to do that, I would totally upvote your review. It really is an awful sounding name, but I couldn't resist saying it to get a smile out of ya'." He chuckled. "Honestly, it was hard to stick with one, but the shelter told me he would probably be better off as a solo dog; at least until he got used to me and a new home. I know the puppies are easily adopted, so I wanted to give an older one a chance to live out his glory days peacefully. But I may try and introduce a friend to him in due time. So how did you resist? Do you think Kiba wants a sibling?"

His cheeks grew hot as her eyes lingered on his arms, and Chase bit his lip. He hoped Roxana didn't think he was begging for the attention. Not that he minded it — he absolutely didn't one bit. But he genuinely hadn't been seeking it; he'd thought it was a funny way to break the ice. "I guess I could do that. Most of the time it's just the animals and family around, so I don't think it'd matter much. I really only dress up if I'm going out to see a client. Even then, nothin' too fancy. But I eventually toss the shirt to even it out. It's just been so hot I didn't wanna burn up too much. Was it hot like this where you're from? I forgot to ask where that is," he realized aloud.

Chase's lips tilted into a lopsided smile at her honest answer. "Well that's alright. No one should be rushing you. Do what you're comfortable with, ya' know? I will say most of the people around here are very chill though. And Nick is a great guy! I'm glad he's keeping you company." Their dogs getting acquainted with each other stirred a bright laugh from him. "Oh god, I'm so sorry, really. I promise he didn't learn that from me," Chase mused. When Kiba ignored Roxana's request, he gave an amused shake of his head. "Oh yes, absolutely worth the money. But maybe after two classes he'll be better at following orders. Right now my boy's got him distracted."

The blonde's grin broadened, happy that she was accepting his offer. Chase hadn't been so certain she would. "Really? Yeah! I'd love to show you around! We've got lots of different kinds of animals, and if you're into horseback riding or fishing or anything like that, we can do that too. It's a really peaceful place. Anytime you feel like coming out or just wanna socialize, you can hit me up," he promised. "Are you going to the carnival coming up?"

can we start a thread of small but highly specific details we are excited for in pjo season 2? i just feel like getting randomly excited over seeing stupid little moments or details that happen in the sea of monsters on screen currently.

the way that Sean adores Nathaniel is very much informed by the way that Sean loved his older brothers. it feels like Nathaniel partially fills the place created by the death of his brothers, just like how Sean partially fills that space for Nathaniel left by his own brother's death.

the unquestioning adoration and trust and respect that Sean has for Nathaniel makes me feel like Nathaniel specifically stands in for his eldest brother Tony. (perhaps, Marion is to Jimmy as Nathaniel is to Tony.) I often wonder if Nathaniel and Tony were of a similar age.

with that, it's interesting under that lends to think of how Sean describes Tony as being capable of anything to the way that Nathaniel thinks of himself as someone lacking, particularly in bravery but in talent generally. in turn, because of that lack, Nathaniel spends his life trying to be his older brother.

Chase is like a dose of instant comfort, reminiscent of a rainy, lazy afternoon when you're curled up with a warm cup of fragrant tea while you idly watch the raindrops trail down the window without a care in the world. It's nice, actually. Roxana's fingers ceased their nervous fidget, and she sighed softly before a fraction of a smile tilted her rose-tinted lips. "Yes, to both. There's no hurry, right? Let's make a stop at a drinks tent. I wouldn't mind a frozen margarita or something like it. A frosé sounds even better; however, I don't think they'll have that here. If they don't have alcoholic drinks, then I wouldn't say no to some kind of slushie. It's on the warm side, and that sounds really good now." Roxana's touched Chase wants to spend time with her, not one of his friends or even someone he's romantically interested in. It does make her feel slightly giddy, not that she makes it too obvious.

"Stop that, Chase! You don't look like a bum. At least you're not covered in mud or smell like horses." Roxana laughed as her hand gave his muscular arm a playful push. However, she did allow her fingers to linger a few seconds longer than necessary before catching herself. "Thank you for the sweet compliment. I was excited about these." She motioned to her new shoes. "I always wanted to own a pair of Doc Martens' but couldn't justify spending a lot of money on them. Aren't they cute?" She modeled the shoe for him and was pleased with her purchase. "So, there was talk of food." A hand went to her stomach after an annoying rumble interrupted her mini-fashion show. "How about we get drinks, then food. While we eat, we figure out which ride to get on." As much as she went into this carnival with an open schedule, she likes to have some kind of plan in place so she's not aimlessly roaming around.

"How's Copper? Has he made any new friends since we last saw each other? I know he has quite the affinity to butt sniffing, which I imagine other dogs are happy with." she asked as they moved from their spot and headed in a random direction. Roxana has no idea where anything is at this carnival.

Chase was always eager to come to city events and catch up with friends. It was nice to see everyone around town coming together as a community. Truth be told though, he was especially happy to see Roxy again. At Founder's Day they had just met, and although there hadn't been a ton of communication with them since, Chase felt like she was slowly letting her guard down. He couldn't imagine what it felt like to move somewhere new away from all his family and friends. When it happened to him in the past, he'd only been a baby, so it was out of his memory. Hopefully she would let Chase fill some of that loneliness. He really liked talking to Roxy and felt this giddiness inside when he managed to make her laugh. She was always a beauty, but her smile felt like a damn prize to be won.

"I know you are," he playfully, but truthfully retaliated with a huge grin. "I really, really wanted to say the other word, but I stopped myself. You should be proud. I did it just for you." Green eyes drifted to Roxana's hands, noticing the nervous fidgeting as she admitted to being glad to see him. For some reason this made his heart swell, and he restrained himself from reaching for her small hands to comfort. Chase still didn't know too much about Roxy's life, except that she didn't seem quite ready to let many people in. The last thing he wanted was to taint her trust. "Well, I thought it might be a way for you to see more of Bearcreek, but I also may have been a little selfish," he admitted. "Because I was hoping we could do that too. Why not both? There's also food and of course the fireworks. I don't have any other plans, so unless you tell me to buzz off, I'm all yours."

Features softening, Chase looked over his casual clothes. "That is if you don't mind that I look like a bum. I mean, you look adorable and then there's me," he laughed. "Did you wanna start with a ride, or somethin' else? Ladies' choice."

the early vibes of c2 were so nice they literally got out of prison and were just like "well shit where should we go" and basically picked a spot on the map and headed somewhere just for the hell of it and stuck together cuz they had nowhere better to be

The others have to kinda help them around/keep an eye on them.

Maybe happens during hoo? Someone brought back by Gaea figures out a way to trap their souls/ bring them back in that form. Mainly out of the fun of it. Maybe gets convince to do the last demigods specifically as to try force info from.

Instead they just kinda end up trapped in the box most of the time cause they're either too stubborn or done with helping world conquering deties to say anything. Even if they lost a bit of stitches or stuffing for fighting back...

They get found after being left when the person that brought them back gets ran off or defeated by the seven.

Of course, only really Percy and Annabeth really know who all them are and mix of awkwardness and some small bit of happiness to see most of them again is there(it mostly awkwardness with Luke, since Lee's been keeping him in a time out corner. And where do you even start a conversation with the guy who almost killed you multiple times who's now a doll gdgd)

Now they just have them chilling around the ship until they can fix it. Cue cute Lil interactions between Leo and Beckendorf and Piper and Silena gdgf

They're pretty beat up so to speak when they're found. Say the ones who had been on Kronos' side a little less.

Lee,Michael,Beckendorf, Bianca and Castor are lot more vocal against person that had them. Probably Ethan too? Silena and Luke are much more wrapped up in their own guilt from titan war to be as vocal. Ethan more focused on what's happened to them now.

They still kinda able to move their mouth and make some expressions, except at some point poor Michael got his mouth sewn shut cause the person got annoyed with him 😭(Lee was held down good bit after cause he was enraged-)

They got it fixed once they were found though 🥰

For me currently, the interesting thing is the difference of mindsets that is in Neve between her two Veilguard Hero paths. On one end, she becomes the hope of the people, and by principle sticks to the mindset she's had since the beginning by remaining the hand of justice that is astute as she was since the day we met her. Never killing, only arresting, bringing down the hand of the law.

Meanwhile, on the other - she becomes the Shadow of Docktown, the vigilante who is finished with playing by the rules when it comes to the corrupt crime of her home. A near Spymaster by her own right, when you think about it. She will kill a criminal if she thinks they will only be released to do the same thing they've been doing, she will take that extra step and not hold back where her alternate self will. This is also the Neve that can kill the juggernaut in the end game battle, and crush a man with her mind when sent after the Venatori lock.

We're getting some final scraps of fluff towards the end of this chapter before we really dive into both the Frank's Trial arc (which obviously includes the ninja shenanigans happening at the same time, though stuff will obviously play out a bit differently) and a more serious arc having to do with Jane's hunt for Derek and Anthony.
