So, how do you feel about Thomas claiming the show couldn't continue if there were no more secrets between the main couple?
I’m sure their are plenty of ways to do so, but at the end of the day, it’s his show, and however he wants to do it, he’ll do it. I don’t follow canon that closely anyway, so it really doesn’t bother me.

Stormy Weather 2
How the conversation in the writers room went:
Austruc: Have you got the episodes?
Guy: Yep, all 25 of them.
Austruc: All
Austruc: All what.
*one long night, sixteen red bulls and a panicked discovery of a budget total of €2:82 leftover*
Austruc: so. The solution.
Austruc:
Austruc: flashbacks.

Things seem simple at first but… as lies and secrets accumulate, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell right from wrong, hero from villain, friend from foe.

This is going to be so fun!

Here they are! The BOIs!
I hate drawing male characters (which is why this took so long) but we finally got it done!
Max is the only character who retains his age. I like the Kid Genius with his Jock friend archetype. He's 13 her and quite honestly looks younger. He met Kim on the first day of Highschool. They became best friends, and Max helps Kim study on the subjects he struggles in (Namely science and math) And Kim keeps him safe, both from potential bullies and getting trampled in the hall.
Speaking of Kim, fuck that plot line of him being a total ass, you can't make him a himbo in the making and then rip the rug out from under us! In this one Marinette either didn't have that experience or it was some rando. Kim does have a bit of crush on Chloe, he likes that she's very direct, but it never gets past that. And once Ondine expresses her interest, he changes focus. Kim is surprisingly good at History.
Nathaniel... We'll get back to-
Ivan is almost the exact same as cannon, I have no issues with Ivan or his relationship with Mylene. The only addition is he carries a lot of guilt about being the first akuma. The villains scare him about as much as the rest of the cast but he's terrified of the butterflies. Having your mind unexpectedly invaded messes with you. At least everyone else had Heard of Hawkmoth by the time they got akumatized.
Marc, I changed because I felt his and Nathaniel's personalities were a bit too similar. In this one, Marc is a bit more confident. He has aa pretty good group of friends, he already knows Nathaniel and Marinette. But he doesn't have much confidence in his writing. Which is why Marinette has to help him talk to Nath. Just trying to make him feel more like his own character, not an excessory to Nathaniel. Of course Marc isn't in the akuma class, which he is very happy about, but he fit here for the redesigns.
Okay! So Nathaniel- I don't really like him. He had like- 2 episodes where he's relevant (3 if you count Penalteam) but he's an akuma in his first and an ass in the second. Other than that he doesn't really do anything. But I don't want to pull a Thomas Austruc and character assassinate- so instead we are simply mostly removing him from the narrative- Here me out!
Nathaniel is in Marc's class, and he mostly interacts with the akuma class through Alix (His best friend) and Marinette who he knows from art club. His crush on Mari and later Ladybug is still there, they are teenagers after all. And Chloe still revealed his crush, though it wasn't so much to be cruel as it was just "Huh. Dupain-Cheng, figures", and he is very embarrased about this. I don't know how to re-write Reverser without making him an ass though, so I'll cross that bridge when I get to Marc's other designs. Please give me suggestions, I need help.

Watching miraculous awakening after 8 years of everything Thomas Austruc has done that nearly destroys the show felt like a warm hug and a pet in the head by Zag. I quit watching the show because of how out of ideas Thomas clearly was (he took the time between seasons 1 and 2 to gather as many popular fan theories, fanfics and headcanons the fandom created as a way to wait for the next season and added it all to the show, claiming it's all been part of his plan since the very beginning). Now, after almost two years of not even thinking about miraculous, watching this movie was like being reminded of what made me like the show in the first place, only it was better. It feels like Miraculous Awakening was made for the fans who have been there since the very beginning and were tired of waiting for something that would clearly never come. Jeremy put his heart and soul into giving miraculous ladybug the story it deserves

I know how this might come off so bear with me when I ask… if you’ve legit seen Miraculous Ladybug. Like… I was just mulling over our disconnect over it.
I have seen the first three seasons, though my watching of the third was a bit rushed & haphazard. Though given how the episodes are designed to work I think its fine XD
I didn't go into S4 cos I'd fallen off and everything I have heard since, even just a cursory wiki scrawl and Thomas Austrucs twitter make me not want to go any further.
I generally try to avoid reblogging stuff talking post S3 save in maybe the most vague terms and I generally try to avoid having an overt opinion on it post S3 too.
I don't wanna do a RWDE and complain about parts of a show I haven't watched, so any meta I've written or ideas have been focused on that period.

MIRACULOUS LADYBUG: AWAKENING
SPOILER REVIEW
Tumblr media
Since my last post on Miraculous Ladybug was so vitriolic, I feel like now I have to give my two cents on the film. In my opinion? It was great! It reminded me why I like the concept of the story to begin with. I think sincerely that the movie did a by far better job at telling this story in under two hours than the series did in over 5 seasons.
Tumblr media
It's not perfect, mind you, but it is a really good time! The animation is gorgeous, the action sequences were amazing, the story is straightforward and it doesn't make you feel like everyone except for Marinette is an idiot. It does help boost enjoyability not having Thomas Austruc mansplaining at every chance what a perfect society looks like, what the ideal man and woman act like, and what a perfect and healthy romance appears like.
Tumblr media
Marinette is lovely! Her characterization is so on point. This time round, you can truly believe that she is a normal girl, with a normal life, just down on her luck. And her character arch is linear and fairly well structured. I really liked that they showed that her failings and clumsiness mostly boil down to uncertainty and self-doubt. It's not the Ladybug powers granting her agily and resilience, the mask just help bring what was already there to surface (something I did not always see in the series especially in the earlier seasons). Adrien/Chat Noir is one of the two characters that most benefits from the adaptation, IMO. He is ever kind and caring but he's not a door mat or a prize to be won. The scene in which he lashes out on his father, calling him out on his neglect: that was just beautiful to witness. And Gabriel Agreste! Oh, Gabriel! Finally, finally this character makes sense and acts like you would expect and hope he would. Surprise, surprise, he actually makes a compelling villain when written right and manages to look competent and threatening. As for everyone else...everyone else mostly disappear in the background and act as their tv counterparts (except for Cloe in the end *cough* *cough*).
While it's a big jarring every time they start singing, the songs 'Better Together' and 'Courage in me' are really catchy and nice. Heck, even the rendition of the main theme 'You are Ladybug' is fun and enjoyable.
Tumblr media
The romance is obviously the main aspect of the story and I think it plays out really nicely here! While there obviously isn't much time to fully delve into the love square and you are left a bit wondering why Marinette is so hung up on Adrien when her relationship with Chat Noir absolutely steals the show by being romantic, heartfelt and wholesome, I still enjoyed it. Emphasis on Ladynoir stealing the show, especially when the two spar on the roof, duet in a scene that reminded me of the Moulin Rouge and face the final threat.
Tumblr media
The side story of Marinette feeling slightly embarrassed by her dad was unnecessary, but whatever, I guess.
Plag isn't especially great here, but Tikki, oh my gosh, Tikki is a SAVAGE! 🤩 Ten seconds after meeting Marinette and is already about to kick the girl's ass!
Anyway, that is to say, I had a great time watching this, and I hope you all do to.

I own miraculous now. Thomas Austruc handed it over to me and let me recreate the whole thing after realising the error of his ways. Anyways here's my redesign. Chat noir is a transfem now.

Not because I'm biased but, I think it would end in a draw? Katsuki's smart enough to not fall for the "tire em out strategy". And Chloe's smart enough to to pick up that she isn't falling for that anymore. And if they start trash talking the curiosity is going to take over and they gotta know the differences. Like apparently Chloe became an incompetent fool because the writer didn't like her even though she's a fan favorite. And Katsuki's still a dude and so much more emotionally stunted.
And just. It's kinda therapeutic for both them to see that the version that's across from them is so much more healthy than the on screen counterpart. I know we said kin drama but genuinely they would feel sympathetic towards their fictional character. And to see and talk and empathize with a version of them that isn't bound to the 'bad fate' that they have. God that's gotta be emotional.
Also Chloe is going to be so angry that apparently the same Thomas Austruc that tried to make an off-brand LB and CN movie is the writer for the other's show? Oh she's gonna pissed.
Okay so we gotta go back to the setup of like. Why are they fighting?
If this is just a 'throw hands on sight' situation, they probably don't think the other is actually Themselves. Must be some Villain/Akuma that just happens to tangentially resemble the fictional character they're familiar with. But the trash talk would lend to curiosity which would lend to pausing the fight to figure out what's going on.
On the other hand. They may have already been at the point where someone (or both) got yeeted through Dimensions and are now fighting purely for fun. But they would've already gotten any 'hey the fuck happened??' questions out of their system.

Not really a Miraculous Ladybug fun, but looking in and the biggest thing I'm seeing fans complain about is that the show reads like a comic in that it just can't keep its lore straight.
The second biggest complaint I've seen was ML dropping Chloe's redemption arc
Oh boy you should see the objectively racist disaster of the comics they DID have, trust me turning it onto a comic wouldn’t solve a thing so long as they’re the ones writing them
But yeah, ML does indeed have a problem with keeping its lore straight and avoiding retcons; they latch on to the status quo so much that any progression before season 5 is pretty much undone by the end of the episode it occurs in, and maybe remembered in a later episode (and only that episode in particular) if it has relevance to that new plotline
The show basically operates on unique lore every individual episode, with Miraculous powers being tweaked, rules of the game being altered rather than expanded on, etc. The first one I can think of off the top of my head is the idea that the Rooster Miraculous suddenly has a lot of previously unstated constraints that weren’t in effect before - a retcon on its own, but it included the constraint that Miraculouses can’t copy the power of other Miraculouses, a constraint that the Butterfly and Peacock frequently contradict in the show both before and after this point
And as for Chloé, hoo boy… throughout season 1, Chloé was the stereotypical spoilt rich brat who’d call her daddy to help her fix whatever was bothering her, and she’d exploit this to harass and bully others. But in season 2, she begins to have some character development, both in that we meet her arguably emotionally abusive mother and Chloé finds a lost Miraculous, the latter of which being what kicks off a slow but steady redemption arc where she does indeed show signs of improvement both in and out of the mask; she’s loyal to Ladybug, she can work in a team when she puts her mind to it, she grows a little closer to Sabrina, etc. She’s still far from perfect, but even other characters acknowledge that the improvement is there
And then the season 3 finale basically erases all of that because Chloé is manipulated by Hawkmoth into willingly accepting an akuma, offering her the Bee Miraculous and using her parents as hostages in order to do so. The manipulation isn’t really registered by the writers, or maybe just not cared for, because regardless it’s seen as a full-on regression and betrayal that Chloé is totally all down for on her own. For the next two seasons, Chloé regresses way past her original season 1 levels of harm, and there are a lot of retcons to her relationships with others; suddenly she no longer cares about her dad, Sabrina or Adrien, despite her always caring about them even from the first episode, even if she doesn’t always show it in the clearest ways. Fans feel cheated by it, but Thomas Austruc, the show’s creator, has taken to Xitter to aggressively shut down all the fans implying that Chloé ever had a redemption arc whatsoever
But TA’s Xitter posts are a whole other story, and the Chloé situation beyond this is yet another long one I won’t get into here. But yeah, a lot of fans feel very cheated by the sudden drop of the redemption arc and TA arguing that it was never there to begin with and that fans were deluding themselves certainly hasn’t helped with that. If he wanted a damnation arc, the fall from grace had to be better written than just a largely sudden drop of her newly found morals and a child being blackmailed by the terrorist who has her parents hostage isn’t a compelling villain arc if the point of it is to prove that she was always bad and never good
I could go on and on about Miraculous Ladybug’s writing issues

Conversation
Canon vs Fanon 2
AU Chloe: I can NOT believe you! It is just BEYOND my understanding how you STILL act the way you do!
Canon Chloe: Think whatever you want, Diet-me. The fact is at the end of the day, I'm the REAL Chloe, and you're just some mary-sue fanfic version of me. I'm what the public knows. I'm what the people expect. I'm what this character was meant to be from the start. And I am what will be remembered long after the show is done. So go cry about it.
AU Chloe: You know what? You're right. You are the real character. But I don't hate you for that. In fact, I thank you for it.
Canon Chloe: Excuse me?
AU Chloe: When the guy who wrote my universe got started, he wrote this version of me because he thought I was what you would become. And even after you let him down in Season 3 and 4, he still had some hope. But even after you and your creator buckled down to make you worse, all that did was inspire him to write me more. So thanks to you, I'm going to have plenty of adventures in my universe, or even if I don't, I still exist in the realm of fanfiction.
Canon Chloe: Wh-What? You were supposed to get all mad and yell! This was supposed to be a rant or something!
AU Chloe: I'll never condone what you've done, but I don't hate you. If anything, I feel bad for you. You'll probably never be anything other than what you are now.
Canon Chloe: *glaring*
AU Chloe: Still, I exist because of you and the show, and for that, I thank you. *leaves while waving* Say hi to the other bully cartoon characters for me.
Author's note: I am disappointed with the direction Thomas Austruc and the writers have taken with Chloe, intentional or not, but after thinking about it, I can't hate him, or even the show for it. If it weren't for Thomas, I probably never would have gotten started writing fanfiction. I may write things that are extremely contrary to his original idea and the canon, but in the end, I only write these stories and dialogues because I enjoy what I have seen about this show. So I thank Thomas, this show, this fandom, for giving me the urge to write. And whether I'm for the canon or fanon, I can easily say I am a fan.
DISCLAIMER: CHLOE BOURGEOIS AND ALL OTHER MIRACULOUS LADYBUG CHARACTERS ARE OWNED BY ZAG AND THOMAS AUSTRUC! PLEASE SUPPORT THE OFFICIAL RELEASE!

Are you gonna be watching the miraculous ladybug when it come out. I am cause based on the trailer and some clips, it might actually be better then the show, especially since it seems to be more of an au and Thomas astruct is bit involve in it.
Um, the Miraculous Ladybug WHAT will I watch? A movie? A reboot? 2D animation? You weren't specific, so I don't know what you're talking about.
However, given it is Miraculous Ladybug, I don't think I'll watch it, since I never gave a flying fuck about the cartoon to begin with. Plus, if it's a reboot, I sincerely believe it'd be better if Thomas Austruc weren't involved in it, since he's too pretentious and immature to be a showrunner.
EDIT/UPDATE:
Tumblr media
Ah, yes! I think I've heard something about a movie coming soon!
Still, I'm unable to give a shit about anything related to MLB, so I won't be watching it; maybe, when I get REALLY bored, then I might do it.
In all honesty, I'm too hyped about Greta Gerwig's Barbie to care; that movie looks like it's being done with so much care and respect to its original source, I'm genuinely curious to see if its final product lives up to the marketing!

Okay new Miraculous Theory:
Miraculous Ladybug is just a tabletop RPG that Thomas Austruc is playing with some friends (all of whom play the different classmates) and whatever happens in the game gets put in the show. No matter how OOC it gets, because Austruc is just rolling the dice. The episode release order is based on a D20 roll

I get the feeling that Austruc has some event planned for Lila/Chloe, and thats where his weird stubbornness and refusal to reason with his fans at all comes from. maybe he believes once it happens we will all feel like fools.
Honestly? id be happy if that happened! it would mean the show had 1-ish really well done plot thread.
(well more like a bad plot thread with a just A conclusion/resolution. but even that would be an amazing thing)
