wada sez: An epilogue to The Transformers: The Movie, with Rodimus Prime’s monologue alluding to Simon Furman’s reinterpretation of Unicron as the mortal enemy Primus created the Transformers to defeat. At the end of the film, Unicron exploded, his head winding up in orbit around Cybertron; his eyes having been smashed by the Transformers entering and leaving. Some readers misinterpreted the artwork here, leading Deer to explain on deviantART: “As for the eyes, I should've exaggerated the destruction a bit more, but if you notice there are holes in the black area where you can see lenses in the back. While the eyes were totally shattered in the film, I thought about the realistic scale of Hot Rod and company and felt it would've have caused that much destruction. Plus, I love the green!” At the time of this strip’s publication, Deer had yet to do any work for IDW, but had illustrated a few Fun Publications Timelines stories. A couple of weeks after the release of this strip, the Mosaic team announced another special project in the same vein as their previous Megatron Origin and Transformers Animated projects: The Transformers: The Movie - Special Edition. The team evidently didn’t receive all that many submissions, and after almost a year, they announced the end of the entire Mosaic project, with the The Transformers: The Movie submissions they’d received simply being released as ordinary strips. I’ve mirrored the original announcement for this project below for posterity.

THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE - SPECIAL EDITION

We're planning to expand upon one of the most popular stories of Transformers history and we need help, A LOT OF HELP! We need writers, artists and colorists to take part in possibly the largest singular Transformers fan project ever!

This project will be comprised of numerous one-page stories, each focusing on a specific character, all set within the original animated movie, building upon the epic story that so many still hold dear.

If you're interested, please send an email to Transformers.mosaic@gmail.com, letting us know in which capacity you want to participate (writer, artist or colourist. Samples of work would be preferable.) and we'll send you more information.

So, tell your friends, tell everyone, we want this to be special but we need you!

I'm pulling out old Terror fandom thoughts but one of my favorites was that Thomas Hartnell's animal motif is a red deer. It's in his name (Hartnell, which literally means 'red deer hill'), in his coloring, and in his behavior. He's prey to people like Hickey, but he also shouldn't be taken lightly.

Also I love me some medieval bestiary symbolism, and this is one of my favorites:

The stag is the enemy of the snake. When the stag discovers a snake, it spits water into the hole where the snake hides, draws the snake out with its breath, and tramples it to death. If the stag is ill or old, it draws the snake out of hiding and swallows it. The stag then finds water and drinks large amounts of it to overcome the poison, and is renewed. When the stag is renewed it sheds its horns.

In short, MY DEER BOY.

FINALLY finished this piece after about a month of fighting between work and school and a shoulder injury. Based off of a german poster for pulp fiction. Yet another movie poster art to add to the pile.

Alice and Boris were walking in the forest, Boris always takes his robot arm with him when she goes out because his arm is half paralyzed and accidentally finds an abandoned fawn under a dead tree that fell over.

*After rescuing the deer, they bring it home, and when it's big enough, they'll release it back. Of course, bendy was very excited when he saw the deer for the first time...*
