margarethe definitely has some kind of mood disorder, i just haven’t looked into it fully yet. obviously, as a vampire, she doesn’t have anything professionally diagnosed, but it does consistently interfere with her day to day life and her ability to hold genuine relationships. and again, as a vampire, everything is heightened. she’s prone to sudden outbursts of anger, often triggered by the smallest of things, and prolonged bouts of sadness that leave her incapacitated for weeks on end. she sits and she grieves as if the murder of her human children happened yesterday rather than almost a hundred years ago. there have been times where it would be so severe that even her thirst would go ignored, and it is thomas—the only sireling still with her—that brings her humans to drink from, or blood bags, or something to force her to feed. he is usually the only one who can coax her out of these moods and typically the only one who is “immune” to them—he knows how to navigate them, how to deal with the anger, the sadness, or anything else she might be going through. it is important to note though that, with them, margarethe’s anger is rarely directed at thomas. she would never insult him that way, not if she can help it, and she does try... at least for him.
