Ok i tried my best to draw the concept art for Cassie’s band au character,
let it be known in advance i am not the best at art and i have never attempted to draw fanart or oc art, i searched multiple tutorials and cried over color theory, heres the best i could do
Be warned open at your own sanity i usually only do observational sketches for architecture
Tumblr media
I tried head shots first just to giv myself a basic idea so here have those, stole my sisters markers to give it some color before she hid them, so i shifted to digital art next, which i absolutely suck at just so yk in advance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idk wtf the second one even is, i just saw the pose while i was searching refrences online and thot it was stupid so my mind said yes.
I swear this took so many online tutorials and i didnt even know how to draw a pose from the reference for like four hours 😭, and color theory was absolutely killing me i jst gave up trying to understand it and tested different colors till they looked right. Idk wht evn happened to the shoelaces smh. Idk, i just gave up went with the flow at the end.
Then i gave one last shot at traditional art before giving up
Tumblr media
Proportions dont rlly look right to me but i just went fuck it we ball in the end
never say i gave you nothing
Dont expect me to draw the boys i may never draw character art aftr this again it was traumatizing.

All of my Franklin Pierce drawings ⁉️⁉️
I've drawn him 10 times, but the first 4 times were digital and before I actually knew anything about him. After that I've only drawn him on paper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. In 2023, I attempted to draw all of the presidents, but I stopped at Lincoln. This was the first time I drew Pierce traditionally.
2. I wanted to draw Pierce's full body, so I did.
3. This drawing of Pierce was on my second attempt at drawing all of the presidents, but this time I actually drew them all (I posted it here)
4. This was apart of a daily drawing for art class.
5. This was apart of a journal entry. Stickman Pierce lol.
6. This was for an art assignment, but it was turned in as the final project since I spent 7 HOURS ON IT (11PM to 5:30AM) Only got an hour and 30 minutes of sleep that night 😭😭 (Also I genuinely do not know if Pierce's hair is brown or black, so I just colored it black).
Sorry for the yapping session lol

Art dump 👍(16 drawings, roughly chronological)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
first/second digital drawing on PC! been using ibispaint since birth. I used to constantly be like "oh drawing on your phone isn't that hard it just takes practice!" like girl you're not gonna know that you're in hell if you were born there 😭
Art fight for ritterdoodles oc, Calaca, my favorite art fight from this year. First digital drawing in half a year, then immediately forgot how to do line art afterward and stopped drawing digitally for another half a year.
Steven at his desk, tried to replicate the shading from my art fight attack but… lord it's kinda ugly
trying rendering out on PC for the first time, eurgh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sketch for a fake Daredevil comic cover? Looks like I'm the floor and he's about to death-drop on me
a sketch for a comic about daredevil being emo and being like “No… I only work alone...” Moon Knight and spider-man are there of course
Harvey from Stardew! My go-to spouse, going for Krobus in my current save though. Practice for a school club, I'm making pixel art for our game! large gap between this and the previous one
I like this drawing a lot and drew it specifically for Instagram, but I don't want to post it there because Peter B. looks pregnant. I NEED to practice drawing chubby people
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Digital rendering attempt #2. mmph. its questionable. tried really hard on the composition too lol
steven and layla in their hero suits but they're also in dresses... muah... this was very hard to draw I do not know how to draw two people looking at each other without them looking flirty
spider miku comic book cover! drew it to try and relearn digital art! her webs are music notes! large gap between this and the pervious one
trying to reteach myself line art, halfway through I realized it kinda looks like that "all or nothing" Tumblr post and stopped in fear
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
large gap between this and the others. I was digitally lining a sketchbook spread and had to crunch out some lineart warmups because I was struggling so hard, idk why lineart is so stressful for me lol
this is gorgeous this made digital art click for me again I love layla shes so pretty shes my wife
realized if I wanna do lineart warmups I should do... just lineart... wow. I'm like plato.
tried to recreate the beauty of number two, not same vibe but still very pretty!!!
hmu for commissions 😘deviant art points only tho <//3

I’m screaming this took all day. Like honestly my general opinion on this is “well it could be worse” Also I didn’t realize it till I had finished it but they are NOT doing what it looks like they’re doing 😭 this was supposed to be a lovingly topless embrace I was too lazy to draw clothes I SWEAR. Also nippies are censored because idk if Tumblr is nipplest.
Either way…please be nice this is not only my second attempt at digital art but my first time drawing a male in general 😭
I still also need mad advice working with digital art to throw some shit at me PLEASE.

wait multimedia art? that's a course I've considered taking 😭 i heard it's very heavy on 3d stuff tho. id love to hear about your experience
Multimedia Art! I studied in University of Fine Arts of Lisbon (or as it's called here; FBAUL) My experience there, alongside everyone in my year, was very unique since the curriculum changed mid course and a good chunk of our final semester was spent in quarantine.
A good summary of my college exp was building the ability to do projects from start to finish. Photography, animation, comics, games, audio and video editing, drawing, etc. Alongside the mandatory classes, I've had optional ones. Mandatory classes didn't required me to do 3D work. You could pick optionals that focuses on it, however. So in my experience, it was not heavy on 3D unless someone seeked it out.
I'm gonna be honest, college was gruesome for me (maybe the daily 3 hours of traveling in 3 different types of transportation sunk me in) but I really cherish the things and experience I got within in.
Here goes advices to have an easier experience in college
Learn from everything
Every class has something to learn from and apply to your work. We had drawing classes in which we had to draw a massive pile of random projects set in the center of the room. I've seen some people question as to WHY we are doing something so random. Who will ever need to draw a pile of random stuff? However, it's not about the pile. In that class I reinforced my skills of composition, scale between elements, how to accurately represent man-made items with the dynamic of an illustration. Enjoy and soak in, even seemingly random assignments can have a purpose.
It was also in that drawing class that I learned one of my fave advices ever. I had discarded a drawing and said that I ruined it when the teacher asked why. He replied ''If it's already ruined, then ruin it further''. That loss of high expectations allowed for more freedom, and the result made was much better than anticipated. It happens A LOT when I do ink art. I ruin things, and in an attempt to fix or 'go with the flow', the result turns out much better than the initial plan.
Note: Model drawing class (censored cuz idk how tumblr would react) and statue drawing. The graphite work I did that year made me so bold with shading, both irl and digitally.
Tumblr media
Not your magnum opus
None of the projects that you make need to be done at the highest of your skill. I've ALWAYS said to my classmates that we are there to learn the step-by-steps of projects, and try to make a solid one ourselves. Just a solid one, not a perfect one. That being because I've seen it often that projects would start out hyper-detailed and incredibly worked...only for the deadline to approach, and suddenly things aren't as of quality as they were in the start, and the student feels like a failiure over it, and their motivation sinks, and they likely will never attempt it again outside of college. Don't fall for it! You're there to learn what it takes to create a project, and then attempt it at your highest quality in another context.
My example with this were comics. I made comics, animations, games, photos from start to finish. Were they amazing? No. BUT I now know what is needed to make them at full skill outside of college.
Note: Comic class! First one was made based on a sentence prompt (the dialogue). Second one was a re-draw of Pop Team Epic. Made my teacher say ''shut the f*ck up and die'' out loud hsjdhask, she was so hesitant)
Tumblr media
Know your limits (and use them for your advantage)
My biggest advantage in college was making my lack of skill seem like a stylistic choice rather than....lack of skill, haha. A massive example of that was my animation project. I didn't have the time to learn software skills nor the time to polish them into smooth, colorful animation. Knowing that I'm unable to do beautiful animation, I decided to use my low skill for full advantage. Now the colorless characters with shaky linework and animation were an aestethic, rather than a flaw. Settle your goals in clever ways that make you look like you're in control. That will also push you out of your own style and reveal some really interesting results.
Note: I animated a short vocaloid MV (Panda Hero by Gumi, with the english translation by vgperson on youtube) A nod to my advice above aswell; this looks messy but it was made from start to finish, and allowed me to learn what it takes to make a MV. I had planned doing another, outside college, but the idea faded.
Tumblr media
A GREATER example of this would be the things that made me most popular online; my character design. We were told to design characters based on chess pieces for our weekly Concept Art assignment. I wanted to do fully rendered, beautiful work, but time and SKILL limitations pushed me to settle for ink AND to shade it in a fitting, inky style. I didn't plan on posting it online, but did out of random impulse and it changed my art career forever.
Tumblr media
Remember, one of your biggest limits is also the deadline. Don't leave your work for last minute. Unlike high school, the stress of late college works is much, much worse...
That is all, for now. Thank you so much for reading this far.
As a final note, please take care of your health. College is difficult and strains some more than others. Be kind to yourself and to your work.

Hi! I'm curious, what's your art process like? I want to maybe learn some ways to learn better :') /gen /pos
Oh gosh, being asked this when I'm such a beginner is a little terrifying, but I'll try my best to answer!
Well, you see, my art process is quite complex but it all boils down to one thing: Ash Lynx. /j
Seriously though, here's kind of what I do! You can also see a timelapse of one of my first attempts at digital painting here on my Instagram (on the second slide)! I use a Wacom Intuos Small size tablet, and CSP on my laptop.
My first step is usually (not always) picking a reference. A couple of my pieces (like this one!) aren't from reference, but most are. I usually use stock photo websites like Unsplash to find references!
Say this is my reference. My first lines on the paper are to create a rough sketch based on it! Some of these end up rougher than others, but here's what my sketch looked like based on this image:
Tumblr media
(Honestly, this is one of my nicer first sketches. Some of them are way rougher.) You can see that I didn't really want to deal with hands yet lol, so I kind of just roughed out where they are. Sometimes on the first sketch I'll rough out hair too, or other times I'll leave it like this.
If I'm trying a painting style, I make a more detailed first sketch, but skip the lineart step and go straight to color. I'm gonna discuss more about my lineart style here since I have more experience with it, but check out that Instagram post I linked to see kinda how I do painting!
Then I turn the sketch blue and do my lineart over it! Feel free to deviate from the sketch if things aren't working out. I often do lineart on several layers; like here, the eyes are on their own layer, as are the hands and camera. I think I overuse layers, though, so that's not for everyone lol. Here's what my final lineart looks like over the sketch!
Tumblr media
Don't be afraid to redo lineart over and over. Sometimes I'll be like "maybe it'll look better with color!" and it never does 😭 So lineart is really important! It took SO many attempts to get his hands right on this one. I had the reference image open on my phone and was trying to draw pretty close to how the model in the stock image had her hands on the camera.
Next I hide the sketch layer and do flat colors. Sometimes I'll use the bucket tool for this, but a lot of times it doesn't work super well and I'll just color them in myself. Again I seriously overuse layers, so usually each flat color has its own layer. For black hair I usually switch the color wheel to blue, then pick something on the darker and grayer side.
Tumblr media
Next up is lighting and shading! I have different strategies for this depending on the piece. Sometimes I use clipping layers over each color layer and just shade with the original color, shifted slightly on the color wheel. (I've been told not to shade in gray!)
For this one, though, I used a multiply layer for shading and an add glow for lighting. I knew I wanted to have a brick background, so I used an orangey-red color for the shading and lighting. I wanted my light coming from the upper left, so I kept that in mind. Then I lower the opacity on both until it looks decent! Here's with and without the lowered opacity. On this one I blended the shading and lighting layers in quite a bit, because I wanted it to look kind of soft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On this one I also added blushies on his nose, ears, cheeks, and lips. I added a highlight on Eiji's hair (also on an add glow layer clipped to the hair color layer). I also put details into Eiji's eyes to make them sparkle! Here's zoomed in on his face so you can see the changes:
Tumblr media
I added details on the camera to make it look a little more reflective and less boring, and to draw some attention to it.
For the background, I put a layer under Eiji and made it the dark red color I wanted. Then I put the bricks over it, blurred them, and reduced the opacity.
Tumblr media
On this one I wanted the background to have kind of a grimy but ethereal effect, so I drew cracks along the bricks with reduced opacity, and drew specks of orange on an add glow with a really reduced opacity. I also added another lighting layer in front of Eiji but not clipped to him for the background lighting. Then I just added a noise layer with super reduced opacity, and put my watermark on it with an overlay layer!
Here's how the final piece turned out:
Tumblr media
I hope this is helpful! I've only been drawing for a few months so I definitely have a lot to learn still. Let me know if you have any questions. (That's open to anyone!) Also if anyone has advice for me and/or this anon, I'm sure we'd both appreciate that! 💖💖💖

*attempt* at art jajajaja I made a couple already for ‘A Second Chance’ ( they are somewhere on my feed) but I just got into digital art this month 😭 so I’m not very good
also yes we love an Erwin doppelgänger 😂
Chapter 14 of ‘A Second Chance’ - preview
Mistakes don’t always look obvious at first, that’s the problem. They’re sometimes clandestine and hard to pick up on while they’re happening. Sometimes, they’re tall with broad shoulders, and they have gorgeous blonde hair and bright blue eyes, and they speak with such eloquence and promise that their malicious intentions aren’t blatantly obvious.
“I’m Gavin. What’s your name?”
That was the sentence that would dramatically change Suga’s life.
He brought the red solo cup to his lips, the harsh smell of Bacardi and sprite stinging his nostrils. “I’m Koushi,” he replied, extending his hand out, allowing Gavin’s much larger one to envelope his.
“It’s nice to meet you, Koushi.”
