It’s a bit weird that you keep seeing people talking about various characters “adopting” Miles when he very clearly has parents who love and care for him already
Like
He doesn’t need a new dad he very much has a dad
It’s actually a pretty important part of the story that he has a dad who he loves and loves him

I think another clear theme of Spiderverse is that, as we’re told in the first movie, anyone can be Spider-Man. But in the second movie, Miguel tells us that Spider-Man has rules. Certain things have to happen, certain people have to die, certain people aren’t meant to be Spider-Man. And the message there is that, once someone makes those kinds of rules, you run. Because it’s just not true. Anyone, literally anyone, can be Spider-Man. There is no requirement. We’ve been shown you don’t even need to be bitten by a spider!
And with the amount of people comparing Spiderverse to the queer experience, this is especially important. There are no rules to being queer. There are no labels that are exclusive. There are no labels that are even required. As soon as someone says you can’t be queer in a certain way, or certain identities don’t ‘count’ for whatever reason, you need to run. They are liars. There are no rules, and there never have been. You are queer because you said so, and this is your decision alone.
If you decide you’re Spider-Man, then you’re Spider-Man. And if you decide you’re going to save everyone you can, then you will. It’s as simple as that.

Miguel and Hobie making their entrances (I love that they both get a slow-motion reaction shot from another spider-person as they enter)

Y'all since we already know that Gwen can and probably does look at Peter B being happy now and think how her Peter never got a chance for a better life cuz he died so young because she accidentally killed him now imagine she goes to Earth-42 and finds Miles-42 fatherless and she knows that she almost let that happen to this Miles. I get that we assume Miles will understand that she had her own problems and was forced to be in Spider Society and he would eventually forgive her but I'm saying that I don't think she will forgive herself, ever.

I just watched a whole Hyundai commercial for more spider-verse animation but I'm so obsessed with the fact that they got Gwen and Miles' voice actors to stiffly promote an electric car

Yall ever think about the fact that miles spider sense didn't go off while he was in the wrong universe because seeing his uncle made him so comfortable he didn't recognize any danger?

I have another mini theory about across the spiderverse.
I think one of the reasons why miles was able to 'take' RIPeters place as spider-man but Miguel was not able to take over from he's counterpart is because RIPeter accepted and choose to to take care of miles, he accepted the new reality that he was not alone "you're like me" and it was that choice what made the change possible.
miguel took the place off someone else and was not accepted as himself (that we have seen so far anyway) but as his counterpart. So the reality looked at him like a parasite that needed to go but it kill itself instead of the infection.
I think the idea of choices is the biggest theme in this film series
you can choose to put on the mask
you can choose how your story goes
you can choice to accept change
I just think its a neat idea if RIPeter had a hand in helping save reality just by being the nice sweet person he was and not just spider-man.

HOLY SHIT I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SEE THE NEW SPIDERVERSE MOVIE TODAY AND GAH DAMN
Here's a penny for my thoughts:
The animation team continues to impress me with the animation and in this movie more so than the first cause of how they made each universe feel
THAT OPENING (love me ambiguous openings where you slowly piece it as it continues)
Spot = traumatized silly guy turned into very dangerous traumatized guy
We all thought pavitr would be ✨TRAUMATIZED✨ but I'm so glad miles was able to help him save both (maybe he is traumatized if his universe is destroyed but let's hope not since he's so blorbo)
Love his silliness with his whole introduction introduction the romantic tension comments and "Oh he doesn't know about hobie" like a whole romantic drama is about to play out
I thought I was gonna hate hobie with how much police he was talking but I grew to be amused and fond of him (the true mvp)
Idk if this is controversial or not but even though miguel o'hara is traumatized I still don't like him (if it's not clear I hate it when people try to be "the system". Looking at you light yagami)
THE COLOR THEORY ON THIS 👏✨🙌
Like the color shifts in gwen's universe and the inverted colors on the scenes of earth 42 and gwen's universe is another on point moment
There is so much more that I can't possibly mention of the top of my head at the moment but all the visual symbolism (not just in color) is *muah*
PARALLELS (that's all I have to say)
MAYDAY 💞 is. so. ADORABLE AND CHAOTIC.
I love peter b. parker having a child cause he liked the idea of raising his child to be like miles... cause he's a good person
Also peter b. parker is SUCH a father figure towards miles
Speaking of miles THEY REALLY CANT LEAVE THE POOR BOY ALONE WTF (give him a break man)
The humour in this movie. PEAK. (Idgaf what you say)
I love all the cameos and references of the many spiders and will deffo pick apart every scene once I can get my hands on the full length movie on my pc
They make every spiderperson's attack feel unique and get creative with techniques and styles
I love the 2d-3d look it has as always
I love miles' parents and its nice to see gwen reconcile with her dad
GOOD OLD PARKER TRAUMA
EARTH 42. ITS ALL CONNECTED. THAT REVEAL WOAA.
I'm glad they brought back the old spiders that miles first met into the squad
GOD DAMN THE CLIFFHANGER
i LOVE all the details in this movie
I also love the theme and characterization

You know what really strikes me about the Miles G test movement is that it's actually the first and only action sequence in the trilogy that isn't a fight. Anytime we see characters use their weapons or webshooters or motorcycles, it's to attack someone or something but we don’t even see Miles use the Prowler claws and the only time he uses his gadgets is to slow his pursuers down.
His whole thing is about getting what you need and avoiding the fight. Not taking down the villain of the week.

I love people calling Gwen a traitor so much because not only is she literally not that, and not only do her circumstances make her actions 100% understandable, but they also ignore that Miles following Gwen to Mumbattan is the reason she looses the Spot. Not saying Miles did anything unforgivable here, or even that his behavior is unreasonable given the situation (Miles and Gwen, in my opinion, make very well written decisions- they aren’t always ideal, but they make sense and it makes them, at least to me, really likable- they are flawed but trying their best), but the hypocrisy of some fans here utterly kills me.

Miles being told he’s an anomaly probably not only added to the self-doubt that likely still remained after the spider people in Into the Spiderverse judged he wasn’t ready to be spider-man yet but also to the inherent self-doubt that must exist in replacing Peter Parker. Because if you think about it Blonde Peter Parker with his grad school education and wife represents that image of the perfect white picket fence America. But as an afro-latino teenager Miles isn’t representative of that version of America and can never truly be a like for like replacement of Peter Parker (which is something he appears to be trying to do in the first film with buying the costume, until of course he gets his own suit). And it feels significant thag Miles initially feels unable to live up to the legacy of that Peter Parker.
And already besides the whole spider-man thing, there’s already an increased sense of a similar feeling of not belonging in moving into a more white dominated school which from the glimpses we get of Brooklyn Middle is much whiter than Miles’ old school. And it’s kind of touched on in the first film where Miles talks about the lottery and his father has to remind him he took the entrance exam to and has as much a right to be there (it’s not completely accurate but it’s along the right lines) which links to that sense of otherness and isolation.
So basically what I’m thinking is how Miles being othered by the other spider people links to that feeling of ethnic minorities being othered and being made to felt like they don’t belong in America. Like there’s that scene in Across the Spiderverse where the guidance councillor says Miles can use the fact that he comes from an immigrant family in his college essay, and Rio reminds her that they are Puerto Rican and are still Americans.
Admittedly I may be overly deeping it but in a way it really feels like that way Miles reacts to being isolated by the other spider people in their creation of spider society without him is influenced by a greater sense of isolation in his school society and the US society as a whole. As ultimately spider-man can be considered to be an American hero yet people in the country may not even consider Miles Morales to truly represent that white picket perfection that they believe is at the centre of what makes America America

Summary:
“HOLY SH-” Miles and Gwen simultaneously turned to cover Pav’s mouth so as to not alert the creature in the middle of the carnage below them. The creature either didn’t hear him or it was too preoccupied with whatever it was doing. To his regret Miles soon realized what that was, as another wet snapping noise broke the silence once more. The creature was crouched down on all fours over what Miles assumed was the body of an officer, though it was so mutilated that it was hard to tell for sure. Its head was buried into the chest of the body beneath it, another wet snapping noise emerging as it pulled out a couple of ribs between its bloodied jaws... Or The Spider-Gang goes looking for Hobie. They don’t like what they find.
Hey guys, remember how I mentioned that I was working on a Venom!Hobie fic a while ago? Well the draft is done and so is the first chapter!

Gwen must tell Miles that she loves him in BTSV or I will eat my favourite boots. Apology isn't enough for me she NEEDS TO TELL HIM HE HEEDS TO KNOW SHE HAS TO FINALLY GET IT OUT OF HER SYSTEM HE THINKS SHE DOESN'T LOVE HIM AND SHE HAS BEEN HOLDING THIS IN FOR TOO LONG
