Oohhh as a cosplayer this is SO fun omg I know this is probably for Halloween but I’m gonna use it to talk about what couple cosplay I think you would wear with the boys if they went with you to a cosplay convention~

Channie- I think if he had a boyfriend or a girlfriend who was down to cross play he would literally be FLABBERGASTED if they cosplayed Cloud Strife (mans has a huge crush on that dude we know from Chan’s room lol) and I think you could maybe convince him to cosplay Vincent Valentine with you in that case~ or maybe get him to cosplay Wriothesley while you cosplay Xilonen (it’s not really a ship but he also is down bad for Xilonen and this is more him convincing you to dress up as his fictional crushes)

Minho- I think he may put up a little bit of a fight buuuttt I think if you bought the costumes already and put on a lil show for him dressed up as Princess Serenity he would cave so fast and put on the Prince Endymion cosplay for you. He’d pretend to hate it but then when someone would stop the two of you for a photo he would pull the most romantic pose and look into your eyes with so much love you just knew he was eating it all up~

Changbin- Superman and Wonder Woman for sure. You tried to argue that you should be Lois Lane if it was really gonna be a couples cosplay but he insisted you were too strong to not also be a super hero

Hyunjin- with his shaved head and his love for haikyuu?? Tanaka and Kiyoko! and it fits cause he is as down bad for you as Tanaka is for Kiyoko~

Jisung- safe bet is Howl and Sophie from howls moving castle but I also think you could convince him to wear his nana fit from his hold my hand stage and you as hachi~

Felix- we all know he’s cosplayed before and gone to conventions but that was when he was younger but now?? He has the means to go all out and he does. I remember someone asking in a fancall who he’d cosplay today if he could cosplay again and he said Arlecchino who is his genshin main (at least at the time- this man changes his main in genshin waaayyy too often) and I could see him begging you to cosplay Columbina since you are his angel and it’s a popular ship in the fandom~

Seungmin- I think he would actually be so excited if you asked him to cosplay with you?? He would even offer to help you make the costumes~ I think he would love to cosplay Inuyasha and Kagome- (just pls see the vision he would be so cute as Inuyasha~)

Jeongin- I feel like he would either be like Minho and lowkey hate it or like Seungmin and be all for it. Either way I think you would end up cosplaying Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps

Imma rant about Ichigo and Orihime cuz your blog has waken a outrageous fire in me!! And rightfully so! I agree with literally everything you said(btw Karin and hitsugaya are endgame for me too🤭🤭)

Ichihime makes literal sense and it genuinely sucks as a ship and i don't get why the shippers are satisfied with the results. I asked my friend who he wanted to be endgame and answered Ichigo and Orihime cuz they are a better fit. LITERALLY HOW?!! I didn't go psycho on him cuz if Ichigo and Rukia ain't your cup of tea then fine. But why are people answers automatically always Ichihime?? Is it cuz they are canon??? Where the hell was the build-up for it then?! It is nothing compare to ichigo/rukia or orihime with tatsuki/uryu. Idk if Kubo was trying to punk us by pairing them up or not. I feel like he didn't plan our their relationship properly! People say it was obvious from the beginning that ichigo likes her back but i sure as hell didn't see it! Maybe i'm just salty and refused to see the signs cuz Ichiruki is the best ship( and i had a crush on ichigo since forever soooo... 😖😖) ?? I've always been a rukia and ichigo fan rather cuz they actually had the chemistry and insane connection. I'm so mad that they weren't endgame. My girl Rukia was elite why didn't Ichigo went for her and vice versa?? Don't get me started on the poems, the speechs, the way ichigo always and always thinks of rukia. Like the ingredients for the cake was perfect, why the hell would you put gasoline in there💀💀

Some people say that cuz the show is shounen and not a romance, i shouldn't be upset about ichihime ending up together and not be mad of lack of their romance. I'm not expecting ichigo and orihime to have some epic EPIC love story or anything just make it more sense for ME at least. If Ichihime was some side-ship then i wouldn't care as much, but this is the MC of the show i want to see something greater than what we received! If they were to have a love story(ya know a real one) then they should've played it out like in Fruits basket

Ichigo and orihime actually remind me alot of kyo and tohru from fruits basket. And they're all very similar to think about it! Ichigo and Kyo: the grumpy orange haired protecters that have a heart of gold. Orihime and Tohru: the loveable sunshine character that are super traumatized but still manage to keep smiling. The only difference is that Kyo and Tohru actually have the emotional moments and had the chemistry and ya know they actually TALKED and were ACTUAL FRIENDS(as in kyo didn't treat tohru like a acquaintance) before dating. But since Orihime is so much like Ichigo's dead mom, their relationship would've been like Yuki and Tohru. I know the comparison might be dumb to do cuz they are very different anime and different genre but still!! Excuse me for caring so much about that my fav ain't canon. Yes this is a shounen anime but they could've at least squeezed in a bit of the love story of the mc to show they actually care about it. The MC of the show has a better and stronger bond with his bestie than his own wife. Like how is my girl Orihime not bothered by it?! Should've end up Tatsuku i swear. I mean they're literally Nana and Hachi!! 🍓🐶✨

I feel like orihime just exist to be his love interest and that's it! Girl had the potential to be a great character that ain't always there to be the love interest. Her becoming a housewife was insulting cuz what do you mean she ain't a robot destroying a city (i can't remember that scene from the earlier seasons but something in between those lines🤣) I do like Orihime enough but not that much cuz it's Ichigo this and Ichigo that. Like girl i get it. I wanted(and still do) him too but don't settle for being the second choice) HOMEGIRL YOU HAVE OTHER LUCKY DUCKS THAT WANNA BE WITH YOU!!

And another thing: I read somewhere that: just cuz Uryu had a crush Orihime that, that doesn't mean that Orihime should be together with him.... Okay then why can't that also imply to Ichigo and Orihime?? Like why just cuz "She'll fall for him in every lifetime" doesn't mean that he has to do the same too!! Rukia is already the queen of his heart mind you

BUT ANYWAYS!! It's a shounen after all so i shouldn't be expecting the mc to have a well-written love story and not to have high hopes of the MC love interest to be something more than that. But whatever at the end of the day they're CANON and have a kid together so all i can do is cry about it and live in fanfiction.

Not surprised your male friend would choose Ori. Typical. For dudes like him, her appearance, superficial crush on Ichigo, & the word "canon" being slapped on are enough for them, despite there not being any actual chemistry between IH. It is also a common trope in other manga/anime, so they convince themselves that it was meant to happen, but it doesn't mean it makes sense for every story, especially not in Bleach's case; it doesn't make narrative sense if they actually looked into it.

(Canon ≠ good. Just look up what went wrong in 'How I Met Your Mother' or even 'Game Of Thrones' S8).

(While on the subject, since Rukia is a much better written character than Ori, if she had a body like Ori's, & Ori like Rukia's, even less dudes would care about IH 🫢, since they never even have good arguments in favor of it that aren't the 3 things I mentioned already up top).

Ichigo & Rukia had the most chemistry in the entire manga/anime, & it baffles me when people didn't/don't (wanna) see it. I went into Bleach almost blind when I first started watching it & IR really stood out. Their bond is right in your face, playing along the border between platonic & romantic, making you wonder what exactly it is, but knowing they aren't just mere friends. In the manga, I was constantly awed & amused by how borderline romantic it came off as, despite having already watched the anime (which did not do the manga justice in many ways; and then antis claim IR was mostly anime-based, PLEASE 🙄). Kubo really wasn't playing when it came to these 2. What a freakin' troll.

Haven't watched Fruits Basket, but I can see what you mean. Grumpy & Sunshine is a fun trope, however, as you said, IH just didn't have what it takes. If Kubo had wanted to, he could have properly developed IH at some points in the manga, such as the Fullbring arc, & it wouldn't have to be anything big, as Bleach is not a romance. He could have opened the arc with those 2 already going out, like them holding hands as they head to school or something, maybe showing some flashbacks of them talking things out, comforting each other since HM to show how they got together. Instead, in those 17 months since Ichigo lost his powers & contact with Rukia, you're telling me Kubo couldn't make IH bond? Instead, Ori's still pathetically pining after him while Ichigo is still thinking of, longing for, Rukia! How am I supposed to believe IH was meant to be endgame?!

Orihime had more chemistry with other people than the man she ended up with 💀. I personally ship her with 2 other men (Ishida & Ulquiorra). She was different with them. One selflessly cared for her, had her at the forefront of his mind in her own rescue arc (unlike Ichigo), while the other challenged her, found her fascinating & wanted to learn more... Not to mention they both protected her from Ichigo a couple times in the HM arc.

She really did have potential to be a great character but it all kept going down the drain, never achieved her dreams nor goals. She kept regressing as the story went on, especially when it came to Ichigo. She was never able to encourage him nor fully support him & was usually a complete damsel in his presence (he even seemed annoyed by her during the Ywach fight, which mind u, she was only there cuz there was no one else left & Ichigo had no choice?). She was more interesting whenever she wasn't around him. All her best moments were when she wasn't thinking about him. Saving Tatsuki? Bonding with Ishida in SS, standing in front of him to protect him in the Fullbring arc? Bonding with Ulquiorra (the only good thing she did the whole HM arc)? She could've done more in HM but didn't. In TYBW, she didn't do anything special, couldn't even encourage Ichigo & was treated like a ragdoll by Ywach. This is how Kubo wanted us to remember her. She was mostly reduced to fanservice by the end (and she's still not as popular as Matsumoto or Yoruichi in that department 💀). I sometimes think he didn't like her all that much with how he treated her character...

While watching the anime, I seriously had been hoping she'd get over Ichigo in the SS arc when she wistfully said Rukia was a very special person to him who changed his world (oh, boy, was I in for disappointment). Right off the bat, there was nothing interesting/exciting about her interactions with Ichigo (I was shipping her with Ishida by this point). He was just so blasé with her, I almost felt bad for her & it only kept getting worse. I then hoped she'd finally get over him after the traumatic experience at the dome in HM, but her ongoing silly crush made my eyes roll & lose hope in it. LIKE GIRL, HE'S HUNG UP ON ANOTHER GIRL, & U SHOULD'VE STOPPED PUTTING HIM ON A PEDESTAL BY NOW; HE'S NO PRINCE CHARMING & ESPECIALLY NOT FOR U WHEN HE BARELY GAVE U A SECOND THOUGHT IN UR OWN RESCUE ARC & ALMOST GOT U KILLED LIKE 3 TIMES & U HAD TO GET SAVED BY ULQUIORRA & ISHIDA, LIKE-

Orihime doesn't have anything in common with Masaki other than maybe their appearance (which imo, Masaki looks more like short-haired Matsumoto anyway?). Besides the cheerful part, their personalities are very different. Masaki was more like Rukia: brave, strong, selfless, teasing & annoying Isshin/Ichigo, etc... IR has actual dynamic parallels with IsshiMasa in the narrative... Kubo just copied IR moments, especially considering he wrote as he went... So, don't be fooled by those morons who go by appearance alone & even those weird lines in one of the novels (Oedipus complex anyone?) instead of the legitimate parallels between IR & IM shown in the manga, such as these:

What was going thru Kubo's head if he supposedly "intended" for IH to happen? Ichigo & Ori had more chemistry with other characters than with each other. Kubo went about this all wrong. Bleach not being a romance is no excuse for shoddily pairing up characters in the end. In a few scenes scattered throughout the manga, he could've implied them. Every time they interacted, their relationship should've progressed somehow. And he actually did this with IchiRuki. (In regards to Naruto, for example, Kishimoto at least admitted he didn't put enough effort into his ships by saying romance was not his forte & he's not good at writing female characters, but at least most of the ships made sense & esp NaruHina had actual good moments scattered throughout the manga...).

Sigh, I've said this before, but why can't more battle shounens be like Fairy Tail when it comes to developing the ships throughout the story? There'd be less drama. Even Gintama did a better job at developing the main ships, lol, that if they became canon, hardly anyone would've been surprised (they were somewhat implied if u squint, tho 🤪).

There are theories Kubo wanted to spite Shounen Jump for their treatment over the years so he ended things this way (and maybe to spite the fans too, since his manga sales had been on the decline for years). Ever heard of the "choosing unhappiness" theories? Basically, remember that Ywach said he'd come back at Ichigo's happiest moment? Well, he didn't come back at Ichigo's wedding with Ori, not even at the birth of his son. He came back when Ichigo reunited with RUKIA after 10 years.

So what could this be telling us? That Ichigo chose to be unhappy by not getting with the one person who made him the happiest. Rukia gave him that push by choosing unhappiness first (since she knew Ichigo couldn't make the first attempt to) & married Renji, who in turn, also gave Ichigo that push to go for Ori. IR chose unhappiness to defeat Ywach. Could this actually be what Urahara meant when he said he'd leave everything to "Kurosaki-san & Kuchiki-san" after his defeat in TYBW?! (we deserved the IR tag-team we never got in the final fight, screw Kubo)

One could also say his friends chose unhappiness to help too? Ishida becoming a doctor he'd never expressed interest in & seeming isolated from the friend group (maybe not agreeing with the farce they're all in), Chad becoming a boxer instead of using his fists to protect, Ori marrying a man who doesn't love her & she knows never will, Renji marrying a woman who doesn't love him & never will (and whom I think he doesn't love either? My view on that here)... Isshin is nowhere in sight, could it be he also doesn't wanna be a part of this farce in which his own son chose to marry a woman he doesn't love?

Still, everything about this ending is so wrong, makes no sense, a bunch of retcons too. Heck, remember the rebuilding of Sokyoku Hill in SS? Made Ichigo destroying it meaningless 🙄.

Anyway, I didn't mean for this post to be too long. There's so much to rant about lol. There's also so much to make fun of 👀. As I said in this post, IH was never popular & never will be. Kubo himself can't bring himself to give them content & his affiliates (like Shounen Jump, Studio Pierrot, etc.) can't be bothered either, as IH doesn't sell. Canon for almost 10 years & still no official couple/family arts nor merch 😂. If they end up getting thrown a bone in the future, the fact it took them that long would still be laughable.

In the end, it's best to ignore canon, its fans, & engage with what you like. It also doesn't hurt to sometimes make fun of Bleach's failures~ Kubo has made it so easy, can you blame us? 🤷‍♀️

I had brainrot for it a few years ago, like I literally scoured almost every bit of content that I could find, & while it's died down, I just know that if Kubo &/or his affiliates were to feed us HK content now, I'd eat it up like a starving dog-

NANA ・ナナ・Chapter 79・Hachi, Nobu, Takumi, and Ren

What's the general consensus about Ren possibly being Nobu's kid? Seems like it mostly 70/30 in favor of Takumi as the father. I used to think Takumi was absolutely the father because the timing alone seems to favor him. However, having Nobu on focus with dialogue like this in this panel from chapter 79 had me thinking about what made Ren struggle with the family back together. This could definitely be an intentional mislead! But I'm chewing on the thought nonetheless.

Side note: this write up on Satsuki being Nana and Ren's daughter has me fully convinced.

My head canon prediction for what happens in the future is that something comes to light about Ren's parentage and Ren learns about it himself, maybe overhearing that Nobu is actually his father or learning about the Hachi Nobu Takumi triangle and thinking that his existence caused this rift. People mention just how intelligent Ren is, and maybe he could comprehend the gravity of that love triangle at a young age.

I personally think Nobu follows through on the promise to teach Ren guitar as his own way of honoring a wish from his role model (I don't see Takumi taking the time to teach his son guitar, especially when the backstory of his own musical learning is doing whatever he can himself to play for Reira).

So if Ren were to learn that Nobu – the one who taught him his favorite thing in the world – is his real father, that could totally be fuel for Ren to not want anything to do with Hachi, and follow Takumi to London instead.

Up until this panel, it seems like Takumi was the one who was keeping Ren in London and Ren was having a hard adjustment to life over there. But now with this panel, it seems it's the other way around. It's Ren's choice to stay. And Hachi says she has to "do something about that" of course as his mother, but she's also tied up with finding Nana along with Satsuki being in her care.

Nobu being the father and Ren finding out could also explain the complications surrounding his relationship with Hachi in the future. Right now the two of them seem to enjoy these moments of peace they have when they're alone. But especially if he was Ren's biological father and part of the reason why Ren is away from Hachi, he would respect that space. Like Shin said, Nobu is a pacifist and there's not much he can do in this family matter but support Hachi from a distance without interfering on her (deteriorating) marriage.

I think Nobu and Hachi will eventually get back together when she divorces Takumi. Takumi won't get together with Reira but he will admit he can't untether himself from her radar. I want Nana to come back to everyone and she and Hachi are back in 707. It's hard to imagine what the kids would do though, I haven't gotten that far in the pipeline thought yet.

I thought (and I still thinking) so much about it thanks to some of you guys and I get a new point of view about it.

1 ) So I just realize that “Everyone" thinks that nana replace yasu with ren .. I received so many messages and comments in every social I post about it like this :

Ok. She love him , (yasu yes.) I think it me too indeed like I said before. ….But she also loves ren too! In 57👇chapter she felts so sad when ren said to her that perhaps it would be better to cancel the wedding because their love no needed to anything else especially of a piece of paper. So why she felt like she was dying there?

Because she loves ren. (!)…In another way but she loves ren too so much .

And another thing: no, yasu is not asexual. lol

Just to be honest in the story nana say that she becomes “in love“ or she feel she bonded with yasu, but after this moment.. and during That period of time that nana and ren were apart.. i believe in nana x ren... now I was just confused😐

Because ren has a very sad fate in the end in everypoint you can see his life . So even nana it is like this . Their are really our Sid An Nancy For real 😳😆…

SO again, ren was not perfect.. but either love it is perfect like dreams sometimes and it’s so illogical for everyone who we love. So I think they loved each other no matter what happened.

Its so clear that yasu loves nana (anyway poor miu for be “the replaced “ by yasu for his secret love for nana😅 😂 😳 no? ) and her love his presence … maybe she really loves him as well but its not my point now, I know she runs to yasu whenever she has a problem or when she has afraid of something. But sometimes we escape from the person who we love more because we are afraid of being hurt by the person we care most about. I know it’s illogical thing but it’s so real .

That’s why I believe and I hope, no matter in the manga or in the anime , Nana and Ren are soulmates. I think we have this idea that soulmates are "perfect" in a way and Ai Yazawahas a great way of showing you that'snot exactly true! Even soul mates don't get a happy ending because that's how Life is.

In the end my only hope is that nana love ren a little more no matter what .. despite knowing that yasu was or is still so special for her…🙏🏻 . i know im crazy that i still believe in nanaxren and their “love” no matter what Despite knowing that shions “thank you theory”in 77 chapters 👇 and that shin speech with nobu in 50chapter … im totally insane yep 👍

Anyway i feel that Nana still was hurt about rens decision of leave her years ago for his career but worst of it she was cold to him because she was jealous of reira for have steal ren s heart(especially just only Singing…) so I think nana was so confused about her ego and no because she doesn't love him anymore... that's why she didn't want to see him. She escapes from him because She was hurt.

So Their love its full of suffering about past issues not yet resolved.

Interesting parallels between Hachi and Nana.

Something i find really interesting is how Hachi's only desire growing up is to find love, be loved, get married and raise a family. Essentially to become a traditional housewife. Whereas Nana is uncomfortable with the idea of ending up in such a position so much so she describes it as the 'worst possible fate for her'. Nana's desires being against Ren's (he wants to raise children with her and to marry) being a major reason she breaks apart from Ren and views being with him in a romantic sense as a hurtful addiction. She knows long term nothing will ever work between them but she struggles to break away from him. On Hachi's side, because of her simple desires being to get married she spends her life looking for romance, however this results in her ending up in relationships with guys she doesn't love, outside of liking the idea of being loved by them. Each character's truest dreams can't be achieved by the people they end up around.

I just really like to think that if the series never ended (I know it's a hiatus but it's been 15 years), Nana would've managed to work through her feelings with Ren overtime after whatever caused her to explode mentally and leave Hachi and the rest. And vice versa Hachi will finally realise that she doesn't love Takumi and the situation she's in with him is like back when she was with Asano and she's being abused. And my personal interpretation of how she is actually a lesbian, liking men shouldn't be 'hurtful' and 'painful' as Hachi always describes it. Also like with Asano, she loses her 'feelings' for him when it's been a while since she saw him, but then whenever she meets him again she gets wrapped under his thumb again. The same situation is happening with Takumi across the manga. Regardless of your opinion on Hachi and Nana as a romantic pairing, Hachi's issues are extremely tied in comphet for me.

It really gets to me emotionally when i think of how Hachi's fate with Takumi is Nana's literal 'worst nightmare' for her own life. It's why she struggles once she finds out to really face Hachi. However she loves her so much she wants to try and achieve her own dreams while allowed Hachi to do what she wants if she's able to be truly happy with what life she chose. Nana just really gets to me thinking about how many of the issues could be sorted if they were allowed to just, sit down, talk and discuss their issues with each other and solve their misunderstandings between each other. Hachi and Nana are total opposites as people however they fit each other perfectly. Please i just want the cast to be happy.

I’m rereading the Nana Mangas, because I’m feeling nostalgic, So my opinion Nana K has horrible taste in men. Almost all of them are toxic. And toxic guy number one Takumi ( I had a crush on this man when I first read the mangas for the first time). Is Junko a good friend in your opinion? A lot of people don’t like her. I think she is always straight up and sometimes she doesn’t say so kind. Nana and Ren are my favorite ship well them and Nana and Nana ….

Idk anyone who thinks Hachi has great taste in men lol. That's kind of the whole point of her arc actually, her bad taste in men.

As for Junko, my feelings about her are complicated. In all, I don't think her and Hachi have the best friendship from both sides. Hachi does do this thing where she's only around to dump her problems on junko but also at the end of the day, if that were something that bothered junko then she should just not be her friend 😭 however junko not telling Hachi she was getting cheated on is something I'll nerve get over and can never justify. I don't think she was fully blaming Hachi for getting cheated on but just pointing out that her own behavior is not removed from how things went down. But you can't call yourself someone's friend and hide that from them. That's unforgivable to me and she also gets another strike from me for basically talking Hachi into dating shoji in the first place when Hachi wasn't even crazy about that man like that

This was so good. Exactly the kind of comforting, emotive writing I expected from this author. There was one story in here I didn’t really love (and one I forgot about until writing the review 😂) but the rest were fantastic.

The Goodbye Cat made me so emotional. I was not prepared to actually say goodbye to that cat. Kota was just so sweet.

Bringing Up Baby leaned into the kind of gender roles that usually make me roll my eyes but the utterly adorable story of this man trying to feel ready to be a dad by adopting and caring for a kitten won me over entirely. His bond with Spin was just so cute.

Good Father - Bad Father was the one I didn’t really connect with. I think if it had actually included the cat more or been told from the cat’s POV, I would have enjoyed it more.

Cat Island was incredibly sweet. The cat the main character’s parents had rescued being a pivotal character in a surprising role just added to the charm.

The Night Visitor wasn’t really long enough to form much of an opinion of but I enjoyed the little we got.

Finding Hachi was definitely my favourite. Everything about this story tugged at my heart and I definitely teared up multiple times during this one. Hachi was such a beautiful cat POV to read from.

Life is Not Always Kind being an extension of The Travelling Cat Chronicles just made my heart feel full. I loved being back with Nana and Satoru again so much.

i’ve been reading your analysis/rewatch notes about nana and they are really insightful and helped me understand hachi’s actions a lot more. also they are really funny. I reread the manga and honestly i do think ai yazawa did plan to have a romance story that was about nana and hachi being actually romantic partners in the end (maybe it’s just my head cannon idk). if ai yazawa did come back from hiatus and continued nana how would you like it to end?

all that aside,

a part of me agrees with you that the romance between hachi and nana was intentional. so much so I would argue that they have canonical romantic feelings toward each other. they explicitly describe how they feel as something like true love, something like falling in love for the first time, etc etc. they're also narrating to each other. all these years into the future, and they are still centered in each other's lives. i guess my thing is...i think ai yazawa intended for nana and hachi's ending to be with them together, but i'm not sure it was intended to be read as queer. romantic, sure, but in a platonic way.

the likelihood of nana ever getting finished is low, but if ai yazawa were to come back from hiatus one day, i think it would end with hachi and nana reuniting and potentially living together again. I don't see hachi being with nobu or takumi and i don't see nana ending up with yasu either. nana and hachi pick each other and learn how to properly depend on one another. thats what I think ai yazawa planned.

and i think that would be an ending that satisfies both of their arcs. hachi is meant to learn that maintaining some independence doesn't have to mean being alone and/or lonely. and that the person she can depend on for this need doesn't have to be a man or romantic partner. basically, reuniting with nana is hachi's journey to depending on others in a societally unconventional way, which requires some level of confidence and independence she didn't have at the beginning of the series. nana is meant to finally let herself depend on others and in the process open herself up to love and vulnerability. to realize that despite her disappearance, despite hachi having children now, she still waited for her to come back. to learn to depend on and to be depended on is not only a risk but something fulfilling.

on the question of how the reunion would actually go down...i don't really have too many opinions. would I rather nana finally come back to everyone on her own or for hachi to find her? i'm not really sure. i really don't know which one i would consider better- i think there's an argument for both. i think the manga was pointing in the direction of hachi being the one to cross that bridge though.

maybe ai yazawa WOULD pair off nana and yasu idk. i've personally never really liked them that much together and i don't think nana actually loved him. not like she loved hachi. but i admit i see that being a possibility in ai yazawa's vision. hachi ending up with nobu or takumi? not so much. i truly, genuinely, believe hachi was intended to be a single mother who at least gets to reunite with her old homoerotic bestie in the end.

in conclusion... i don't really care that much whether or not nana and hachi are girlfriends by the end or simply galpals. i just want them to end up together and not date any of the men. it will all be lesbianism to me either way. however, i think the main reason i feel this way is because i don't think we'll ever get an ending lmao. they absolutely end up as girlfriends in MY vision.

I've been confused, and I think we have all been confused just like you with these occurences to Nana being in love with Yasu, I'm pretty sure Yazawa Ai made all these on purpose just to upset us T..T and as Ren and Nana are my favorite character and favorite couple in the serie, I can tell you I was really upset!

But I'm gonna answer your question, as a Nana&Ren fan : I think she really does love Ren, more than anybody. :-)

I can't help but have a lot in common with Nana, I wasn't abandoned by my mother but I felt quite lonely my whole life, not being able to connect to anyone... until I met that one man. It's another kind of love, I swear, to meet someone that heal you from your sadness, from your loneliness, that becomes a shelter, a light in the dark, the ONLY light. The person became a GOD for you, so you can imagine the devastation when you're left by that one person. And there come Yasu! He's sweet, he's nice, he's always available, always a good hear when you need him... I think Nana really wanted to fall in love with him, she knew it would be a healthiest relationship for her... but she did not. She loved him, but she was not in love with him (at the risk of being scolded by their shipers, I think it goes the same with Hachi x Nobu :p). She cannot love anyone else than Ren, and that's one of the reason why she's quite upset

Do you remember this? That one scene in which she realizes that Yasu will not be able to "save" her - from Ren!

Concerning the scene with Nobu and Shin, "think about the way Nana feels about him", we understand in the serie that Nana is a very possessive person, she wants the person she loves to belong to her, completely. I am a very possessive person too, and it's very complicated to see someone who's interested in you being interested in someone else, because you really feel abandoned. Even if you cannot give love to the person, you need the person to love you, only you. Another interesting cap :

I think That's exactly what she'd like! That yasu keeps on looking after her, without loving anyone else, even if she is unable to give him love (because she loves Ren more :p)

The last two things that I wanted to underline, are the fact that Nana is not that upset about Myu and Yasu relationship. She's a bit angry, but she was in love with Yasu it would be the end of the world for her.

+ I have also noticed, and I don't know if you will agree with me, that as long as the things go well with Ren, Nana doesn't really need Yasu, she runs to him when the things go wrong, doesn't she?

+If she was in love with Yasu, she would have dated him during the two years of breakup with Ren, right? :-)

Oh, I just knew that you also a fan of Berserk and Nana.....Do you still love those two series?

The series above have been in my reading list, but I have not read them yet.....

I haven't read them in a while, especially Nana because it stopped coming out a long time ago. Berserk is still coming out, though it's made by Miura's successors now. I haven't seen that yet. I plan to but I need to reread from the beginning first. And Berserk still makes me emotional because of what happened to Miura.

I imagine I'd still like them and maybe love them.

What I loved about Nana and Paradise Kiss, another manga by that same author, is how flawed the characters felt. How realistic their decisions were, often selfish and/or made out of self preservation. Characters who like Nana Osaki can't break out of a toxic relationship, she just keeps coming to it and it's a painful cycle. And I've always identified with Hachi, Nana Komatsu, who kinda drifts through life, goalless and never in control, always hoping to matter in other people's lives and usually failing, and it's not doing her any favours. It's kind of bold that way, there is no catharsis in that manga, as far as I remember, there's only life. Also it's it is often mentioned in terms of a potential relationship between the two Nanas... Some moments read a little in that direction but idk, there's much more heterosexuality in it. Maybe it's compulsory heterosexuality, but I'm not even so sure. Not without a reread.

With Berserk there's so much to love too. The whole Guts Casca and Griffith situation makes me so emotional. The story has a very neat intrigue and the world building is amazing. Guts is an amazing main character. It's honestly fascinating how he rebuilds himself after the eclipse. In the beginning Berserk is kinda tropy in the dark and edgy way, you know the "real world" is harsh and violent and everything is shit and that's "realism". But it's actually setting the scene for a quite complex emotional story. Still the violence is very graphic and it remains throughout.

The thing that Ivan desired most was a friend that he could absolutely trust, and through that friend I feel he would leave behind his legacy in a way...his 'living proof' that he existed and had someone to share life with.

One of several (listen to Devil Moon I beg you) songs I feel is absolutely wasted on a pachinko game xD They got fucking Yosh from Survive Said the Prophet to sing!!

Got recommended a fan-made AMV with this song and was pleasantly surprised, the song rocks, it features my favorite ship, what's not to love? xD The song fits Ivan's tsundere nature perfectly. I have a soft spot for tsundere characters.

4. Kyosuke Himuro - Wild Romance

An insert song featured in the Japanese edition of Yakuza 5. Specifically during the Shinada vs Daigo fight. And I feel we were robbed xD Of course I want to fight my high school classmate while shirtless while this love song plays in the background!

On another note, I would totally see Mine as being pissed that Daigo is nice to Shinada. xD Because he's jealous that his boyfriend will be stolen away ahhhh

5. Kyosuke Himuro ft. Gerard Way - Safe and Sound

The ending song to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete. The fact that they got Gerard Way to collaborate is a dream for all the otaku/emo 2000s kids xD It's one of those songs that's great to listen to while driving, it gives all sorts of warm and fuzzy feelings, like that feeling of having made it, or having found home and wanting to keep it 'safe and sound'.

I feel it can describe Ivan when he slowly starts to trust Gian and the other capos more, and him wanting to protect his 'home', his 'family'.

6. NANA OST - A Little Pain

Performed by Trapnest/OLIVIA inspi' REIRA, I don't think I need to elaborate much on how amazing the OST to NANA is, Blast and Trapnest both being bands I would follow if they were real. I've yet to read/watch NANA but I know that it will break me QQ

I've heard some of the highest praise for its character writing and realism, it's sad that the manga is still on an indefinite hiatus, the fans waiting for Ai Yazawa's return I feel very much mirrors Hachi waiting for Nana's return.

7. Possibility - Sanagi

ED9 to the anime Gintama. I don't normally like rap but when mixed with other genres I feel it can elevate a song. The song gives me such good vibes and I can't help but hum to it and go 'la la la' at the end.

8. ONE OK ROCK - 完全感覺Dreamer (Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer/Perfect Sense Dreamer)

When I think of Ivan, I think of ONE OK ROCK, their songs capture that hot-blooded feeling of youth that describes Ivan xD. This song I feel is one of ONE OK ROCK's most iconic songs. I actually don't know much of their discography but the fact I know this song shows how representative it is of them.

9. L'Arc~en~Ciel - Driver's High

While making this playlist, I thought there's no way I'm not putting this song in xD What with Ivan loving cars and his beloved Mercedes that he calls Valkyrie xD The whole scene when he and Gian make their escape from the enemy and Valkyrie going out with a bang! was glorious. I was practically thinking of how Driver's High fits so well while reading that part.

10. sajou no hana - Memosepia

ED3 to the anime Mob Psycho 100. Let me just say I love all the OPs and EDs of Mob Psycho 100, which is quite rare, when watching an anime there's always that OP/ED that I don't quite like, but all the Mob Psycho songs are just so good I was shocked xD

Mob Psycho 100 touched my soul much in the same way Ivan's route in Lucky Dog 1 did. I wholeheartedly recommend them both.

just finished nana!!! and. well. spoiler thoughts below the cut ig. ft me rambling for a looooong time

so when my friend introduced me to nana like three years ago she said the ending sucked but didn't really elaborate. knowing her, that could mean anything from "nanahachi wasn't canon" to "it's written badly" and anything inbetween, so i wasn't sure what to expect. anyway i think i understand why she felt that way now bc it's kind of a... non-ending? i wouldn't say it's bad, they just like. don't conclude most of the plot threads they'd been running with for the last 6-12 episodes. which is one way to deal with an indefinite manga hiatus ig.

i think the implication is that nana went off to do her solo career like yasu hoped, and that's why they don't see her? but like. are she and ren married? is she even still doing music? what's gonna happen with shin and reira? what's shin's family situation (in more detail)? what's misato's family situation anyway?? she's using a fake name we can't just ignore that??? we just don't get any answers to how most of these things go. im curious to know where exactly the manga leaves off and where the anime's story takes over. i wasn't sure until now, but my hunch is that the final episode (or maybe final two) are the only anime-original ones. it also seems like nightmare scenario #1 (hachi marries and stays married to takumi) came true unfortunately. (if anyone's curious nightmare #2 was her getting back with shoji. no he's not as bad as takumi but she can and should do better than his emotionally stunted nice guy ass). im honestly glad that we get to see nobu and hachi can like,, be around each other after however many years, and that takumi wasn't around for the festival. i think having to see them as a "happy" family would piss me off. im not forgiving him for his weird manipulative bullshit or him yelling at and insulting hachi etc etc he is disgusting!! and i hate him. he's weird and abusive and he should chew glass. that's all

i also dunno how to feel about some of those final threads anyway, finished or not. yasu being in love with nana was hinted at, but i kind of liked their dynamic staying platonic. yasu's defined by his devotion and dependability—nana doesn't really get special treatment in that, i don't think, so he doesn't need a reason like that to explain his behavior. and they didn't really do much with it anyway. it kind of seemed like they were teasing yasu and nana getting together near the end? like nana actually starting to reciprocate rather than just hachi suspecting stuff or even yasu pining. but the marriage proposal, and then just.. gah the story just ending like that really leaves everything on nana's end (the end we spent most of the last arc with) blank.

idk. i think satsuki's cute. the idea of hachi naming her kid sachiko was so funny to me like ??? no way. reclaiming it from the demon lord lol. any story where someone gets pregnant and has a kid that young kinda freaks me out tbh, but im glad they both seem happy. i really wish the reunion between the nanas for the first fireworks show was more impactful. they focused on hachi and nobu the whole time, even though the nanas haven't seen each other in actual months and also like 15 episodes?? and were desperate to see each other that whole time like that's so disappointing that it got shunted over for hachi/nobu resolution that didn't get the time to go anywhere. and i LIKE hachi and nobu as a pairing and as a point of dramatic focus i just think the nana show should end with the nanas especially since they were building it up for so long. but maybe they didn't wanna go against yazawa's vision or whatever and just avoided it entirely. blegh.

WARNING SELF INDULGENCE AHEAD idk if it'd be a narratively satisfying ending so feel free to roll your eyes at it, but my ideal sappy ending to this is nanahachi is real, takumi gets his ass DIVORCED, and nana buys hachi her house and supports her. it wouldn't be perfect, bc there'd still be that rock star schedule to contend with, but hachi wouldn't have to marry someone who treats her badly and who it doesn't really feel like she loves imo just to keep her baby and nana wouldn't have to feel like she needs to get hachi into a relationship with one of her friends to keep her around (which was an INSANE plot development and i love it tbh. like oh so she's a little freak huh). i think this ideally would happen over the course of a few years, so that the takumi divorce and ren and nana's breakup (i mean they're both unhappy with their relationship. marriage isn't gonna magically fix that) have time to happen and like. maybe nana'll be able to slide in as a step-parent after she's had some time with her career. agh i dunno maybe that's wrong. i don't think she's ready or willing to become a parent yet either, not only bc her job is super demanding but bc she wouldn't wanna be a parent without being able to devote a lot of time and attention to that kid (she'd take the responsibility very seriously and not wanna screw it up). would leaving everything to hachi really work for her? would she be able to accept it so long as satsuki has at least one parent who can dote on her? i honestly don't know. again, maybe when they're both older, and nana's fame dies down, they reconnect or smth. middle aged yuri. that way satsuki's gonna be a little less dependent on them both, and nana's role as stepmother wouldn't be quite so fraught for either. regardless i do think the ideal ending is hachi getting the support she needs to live without takumi (if not on her own), whether she remains a housewife like she wanted or goes to work (they were putting so much emphasis on her cooking skills—can you imagine her with a cute bakery or cafe or something? she'd go nuts!! so that's my ideal, though she'd probably wait until satsuki was in school). hm. maybe nana supporting her until she can stand on her own two feet? so it doesn't feel quite so much like she's keeping her as a pet. hachi needs some responsibility to grow (and she has, to some extent) but i don't think that should have to necessitate her marrying an abusive rich guy. she doesn't need that to be happy when she has other willing benefactors. and nana doesn't need to hold onto her that tightly—some sustained distance could help with her possessiveness/abandonment stuff, which she needs. and they were talking about finding hachi a job she can enjoy and be good at, and how much hachi likes customer service—i think having her own restaurant could be really good for her. maybe nana's an investor or something. idk. point is they should (in my ideal scenario) be able to grow as people AND realize their dreams (or a slightly modified form of them) without needing to give anything crucial up (nana giving up her career and hachi giving up on romantic fulfillment, respectively). and preferably they should have hot sloppy gay sex at some point in there too bc i think they want it. and also for my sake

i don't normally do the whole "how i'd end this series" thing (much less change it to make it happier bc i do think upsetting stories are valuable and engaging) but with nana it feels a little more right bc again it's so.. unfinished. it's hard to tell whether it'd go for a "the reality of your dreams is always going to be bitter" tragic ending or if it'd pivot with time into something happier. i just don't know. for yuri purposes im gonna daydream about the happy ending but let it be known i do think nanahachi unfulfillment and remembrance as a sort of "if i had known how i felt back then we could have had something and/or i'll wait for you forever" (which. ig we kinda got the latter) is a juicy ending (and also more what i expected from the show).

aghh i just didn't think they'd spend so much time apart onscreen and then it just ends with them like that. it's such a weird thing narratively like they are THE two core characters THE core relationship and the last time we see them speak (and the first time in a dozen episodes and like two in-canon months) nobu's the center of attention!!!! again i like nobu it's not like i wasn't interested but that's the last episode!!!!! that's the last episode you're holding!!!!!! bwah. i think that might be what bothers me the most. we know throughout basically the whole show that at some point they can't reach each other anymore and are stuck with the memories but god i didn't think it'd happen in such a like.. underwhelming and real way lol. just ppl genuinely drifting apart. and in a way that is still valuable but i feel like the execution is just not quite there for me, in this story. but again i JUST finished it so maybe after my thoughts percolate a bit i'll see the beauty in it. yeah 👍

what else. oh i will be real i was rooting for hachi to get an abortion for a bit there. like girl you are NOT ready you are TWENTY. i ended up liking it overall, but it's kind of bittersweet for me. i think i tend to dislike stories that view pregnancy/motherhood as a loss of innocence moment. like,, to me it kind of frames ppl who can get pregnant as children UNTIL they get pregnant—as well as children as this sort of tragic burden—and i think there's a lot of ways and reasons hachi could mature without this. and i do think her maturing is like,, perhaps THE key arc for her, but doing it like this almost feels like a copout bc we just expect (from a million stories before this) that motherhood wises you up somehow, completely rewires all your priorities and sensibilities and your whole existence towards keeping that baby alive. im sure it is that way for some people, but irt fiction it feels like characters often lose themselves in their becoming mothers. it's like them dying—they enter this kind of end stage that removes them from their old selves and makes them unreachable by other motivations. they fall asleep. and obviously we saw a lot of hachi during her pregnancy and she's not Just thinking about the baby the whole time—and her beginning to want and love and prioritize the fetus isn't like. a bad writing choice. it just feels like that sleep state's kind of where we ended up BECAUSE she stays with mr babytrapper and we don't get to see the full consequences of that choice. parenthood is often beautiful and precious i just don't like "pregnancy stories" a lot of the time for these reasons. if any of you have seen waitress i feel like that's a good example of like.. the kind of pregnancy narrative i find unsatisfying. like so much of the conflict was interesting and bittersweet and harrowing and then after all that anguish and inner turmoil she has her baby and suddenly she wants to be a mother and she can stand up to her abusive husband and follow her dreams and everything's perfect because the strength of a mother conquers all, including overriding every personal flaw and fear and opinion you once had. it just feels kind of gross and bioessentialist to me. like you have no choice but to love your kid once you have it, so you should just have it anyway, because it's in your nature. nana (the show) resisted that in its depiction of absent mothers, and i think hachi is the kind of character to get too sentimental about a fetus to abort it regardless of the consequences, the choice just made me a bit worried about the theming throughout. anyway to state my feelings more clearly i think i ended up liking the pregnancy arc it just ended up feeling kinda unfortunate bc like. hachi DID get babytrapped and then just stayed there, and we're supposed to be happy for her bc at least she had the baby?? at least it feels like we're supposed to view it as an okay thing, if not a good thing.

hachi settling for a relationship that is that shitty feels wrong to me as well. yes her expectations in the beginning are too high—of perfect earth-shattering love from a flawless prince, etc etc. but her wanting to be genuinely loved and treated well is like NOT a big ask tbh?? it's not a fantasy she needs to wake up from at all. it feels like her maturation arc concludes with "love is unattainable so settle for tepid comfort" rather than her growing into someone who can engage with a partner in a more healthy way. and again if the tone was more obviously bittersweet on that front i think it wouldn't bother me so much but that final episode really does feel like we're supposed to accept her happiness as genuine and good enough for her, this as her happy ending. like somewhere along the line it felt like they stopped viewing takumi as abusive and shitty and kind of just.. slid into treating their relationship as normal? in a way that makes me doubt my reading of it as intentionally abusive and unsatisfying in the first place. like wasn't the point going to be that this sucked for hachi? were they not on track for a divorce?? she just suffers and the story goes "yeah but it's fine" like girl get OUT of there!!!! maybe all the stuff about nonconfrontation and easy ways out was about this too, but it doesn't feel like they tied it back to her relationship with takumi in any way, so i don't know if that's a stretch or not. AGAIN. a lot of this is about it not having a proper conclusion to like 8 story threads but im just trying to reconcile something i can't know—what they WOULD have done or were trying to do and how i would feel about that. and that's something im wrestling with bc im trying to figure out the themes. like what story is nana trying to tell? that's important for analysis of it. im worried im being too childish expecting clear tragic/happy endings or whatever but knowing what a text views as upsetting or ideal is pretty important to gauging whether characters' arcs were successful or regressive or something else entirely. i feel unmoored a little in ways that don't feel in line with the story up until now and im not even sure how intentional that is. much to chew on.

do i still think hachi's a lesbian with real bad comphet? no idea. i am starting to lean more towards a bi4bi nanahachi reading bc her thing with nobu felt a lot more real than anything else she had. hachi still has crazy comphet to me though. you don't want a man you want to be seen as valuable by guys, you don't want a husband you want a wedding and a dress, etc etc. maybe the true good ending is nana/hachi/ren/nobu polycule. "im nobu and this is my gf hachi and her gf nana and her bf ren" style.

what else. uhh them getting a stereotypical queen manager was kind of funny. homophobia moment. i kind of like that shoji never completely disappeared from the story. he mostly just showed up occasionally to get dunked on and i respect that. i also don't mind the closure/end conversation he and hachi had, but it did revive my nightmare scenario #2 fears lol. i liked shin more with time. i still think yasu's great. uhh i thought it was interesting that reira and shin felt like possibly the most normal relationship in the end despite the whole shin being 15 thing (not good obviously i just kept forgetting she wasn't also a teenager? anyway reira you bastard). nana being canonically into choking was fun too. oh man we never found out what her job was did we. like early on when hachi thinks she's a dominatrix? i kinda wanna know now. also thank you hachi, sapphic puppygirl icon. you Cannot take that hc from me i know that mf wags

That's another thing I didn't like I wanted them to explore about him being a phoenix what is he the Bonnie Bennett of this series? I wish we actually got to see Hope come back and help Landon too bad it was cancelled.

Okay I went back and checked the ships and I actually know and ship most of them I don't know what Bellward is though. I'm surprised you like Emily and Jack most of the fandom for Revenge I see kept trashing that ship while I loved them lol spelivia and Limone is another one of mine as well I wish we got more of Limone being together than what we did. ellimax is another one for me too! I can't get enough of them I've shipped them since season 1. I didn't expect to see an anime on your list I like the otp on Spy x Family too. Obviously I love Percabeth I think I started liking them the same time as Everlark I didn't know about the books for both otps until then. As for zenmaster I don't know what show that ship is from I tried searching for t70s and got nothing.

Landon was the disrespect bag of the series. We were so excited to see him come back as a Phoenix but they had him be struck with an arrow and nothing else. Then had him and Hope go up & down on conversations they’ve had regarding him being human & feeling useless etc.

I just started watching Revenge and only on episode 8, so I’m shocked ppl hate them. But then I realize ppl love to hate on shit in this fandom era lol.

Zenmaster is from That 70’s show (they’re my current header on the mobile set up). And omg!!! Yes limone deserved more episodes, I love them so much 😭. And for anime I also ship Usagi x mamoru (they’re manga/crystal version), Usagi x Seiya (90’s anime), Rei x Mina from sailor moon too. I’m almost done Nana, still a Nana x Hachi shipper even tho we going out sad rn lol
