I still think we should celebrate Kissinger's death even if he didn't face justice and lived a confortable life, just so that everybody knows what a piece of shit he was, just so that when some Great Stateman like I don't fucking know Biden tries to eulogize him he is flooded with insults and mockery y quede bien para el culo, so that nobody can even PRETEND he had any worth, millions should celebrate he's fucking dead and this is how he will be remembered, as an imperialist criminal hated all over the world with no redeeming qualities, none should be able to even pretend he was some some great man except for the magnitude of his crimes

RIP Dame Maggie Smith.
She passed away peacefully at 89 on Sept. 27th.
My heart is broken with this one, even though she had a long life and magnificent career. We will always have the gift of her epic performances. ❤️

REPLICA PLAYLIST
Tumblr media
MUSIC UNDER CUT
I have been receiving requests for any songs that inspired Replica, so here, have my personal playlist. Sorry it’s not Spotify/Soundcloud but they don’t have some of these songs available so uh… guess you’re stuck with YouTube vids. For fun I'll include my personal titles for them (which might give a few hints of what to expect in the future/end).
Replica Main Theme - “Die for You” by Grabbitz Like Father Like Son Like Brother (Omega and Shelldon) - "As Above So Below" by Alistair Lindsay Mikey's Theme / The 1st Vision - "Suzume no Tojimari" by Nanoka Hara Military (Mad) Dogs / Central Park Colony - "Imperium" by Madeon Shanghai - "Icarus" by Madeon Boom Goes the Donnie-mite (Mikey/Donnie vs the Sweeper) - "The Red Zone" by Mitsuoto Suzuki The Day the Sky Bled Red - "7 Seconds Till the End" by Nobuo Uematsu Going Out Like a Boss (Raph and Leo) - "Agape" by Nicholas Britell Remembering the Right Way (Mikey and Leo) - "The Souls of Many" - by Alistair Lindsay Mystic Hands / The 2nd Vision - "Am I Dreaming" by Metro Boomin x A$AP Book 2 Trailer - "Sea Dragon" by Covet 7 Years Later - "Iron" by Woodkid Leo's Theme / Attack on the Labor Camp - "Ego Death" by Polyphia Omega's Theme - "Touch" by Daft Punk Flat Lines (Omega Alone) - "Die Toteninsel Emptiness" by 1000 Eyes Spear - "Monsters" by Tommee Profitt Final Protocol - "The Kraken" by Katie Dey Rise / Epilogue - "Close in the Distance" by Masayoshi Soken & Tom Mills
I will admit, it's a little embarrassing since you can easily see the patterns of what I've been listening to for the past year or two. I swear I listen to more than just videogame OSTs, these songs just jive well with the story and I often find lyrics distracting when brainstorming scenes. Regardless, the music I listen to is such an important part of my creative process and some of these songs really defined the scenes I now have locked in my head. So I figured it was only fair to give them the credit they're due.
I will continue to add to this playlist, and will note in comic updates when one of these songs is applicable!

Anecdotally, one of the big differences between pre-Internet and post-Internet popular culture is a sharp reduction in misinformation about bizarre celebrity deaths.
Back when the Internet wasn't a thing and most people had very limited access to current information about anything that wasn't covered on the evening news, basically any time a notable celebrity dropped out of public view or a year or two, rumours would start circulating that they'd died in a bizarre accident – and sometimes, those rumours became accepted common knowledge, at least until the celebrity in question made their way back into the news cycle.
(There were weirdly specific recurring themes, too: I can think of like three otherwise-unconnected celebrities who "everybody knew" had died while attempting to jump a motorcycle over the Grand Canyon!)
One of the big consequences of Internet access going mainstream is huge numbers of people suddenly becoming aware that a bunch of celebrities they'd been led to believe had been killed in unlikely ways were in fact alive and well. For all that the Internet facilitates the spread of misinformation, it killed this one very particular type of popular misinformation stone dead.

There's a million "you shouldn't fear death" catch phrases I could drop at any moment but it would never translate; it would never bridge the gap in understanding between myself and a person who does fear death.
Ive never felt what they feel. I'll likely never feel what they feel. I've never looked at death as anything but the greatest relief. I can't comprehend being afraid of it. What is there to fear?

I don't need you to mourn with us. You clearly don't view those lost as part of your community, so why would you mourn?
And I don't need you to comfort us. You've shown time and time again that you do not care for our pain, so why would I expect you to start now?
But I do need you to not celebrate our grief - to not treat our pain like a victory.
Because nothing has been gained here. Palestine has not moved closer to freedom. It has not gained ground, or resources, or allies. This does not move us closer to the end of the war, and if anything it strengthens Israel's resolve to continue fighting because the alternative is death.
So if you are celebrating, the only thing you are celebrating is death, and grief. And if you think that's worthy of celebrating, then I think you need to really think about if that's the sort of person you want to be.

DPxDC prompt #9
Jason tends to get extra pissy around his death day.
The bats assume it's just because of the anniversary triggering trauma and try to give him extra space on that day. Which isn't completely wrong, but not quite right either.
Enter Danny: 19 year old half time dead kid.
Who learns about Jason's Death Day and is appalled to learn how the Bats deal with it.
.
"Dude, you don't celebrate your Death Day?"
"No?? Why the fuck would I celebrate the most traumatic day of my life???"
"Because it was the most traumatic day of your life! It needs to be acknowledged! And you need something pleasant a fun to take the edge off the hurt! I'm not saying throw a huge party or anything. Just, you should be spending the day with your Fraid, your family. With them doing something nice just for you. My Fraid spends the day watching space documentaries and then the night stargazing with me."
