Writing prompt for Buddie … “Are you hard, [name]?” and “because I’m in love with you!”
Curious to see what your wonderful brain comes up with 🥰
Buck has a way of staring that makes Eddie sweat behind the knees. It’s not psychopathic, it’s not unnerving, but it’s also not necessarily endearing.
Usually, when he stares, he tries to hide it. Behind a glass, a book, a fork, or anything he can find that would make sense to put in front of his face.
Eddie is not stupid. He sees the way these items move up and down, letting Buck see through the gaps. He’s caught him more than once and had to pretend not to smile when Buck’s faked coughed and apologized.
Thing is, the way he’s staring at him right in this particular second feels… new. A little crooked, and definitely like he’s hiding something other than his relentless gaze.
Eddie pretends not to see it. For the majority of their conversation, he can manage not looking back at him. He cooks, he cleans, he does the dishes. It’s not that hard; it’s a routine. But there’s a moment when Buck shifts uncomfortably that makes Eddie drop his facade.
He raises his eyebrows. Not petulant, just curious. “You good?” Eddie says, and it sounds a lot like a rhetorical question, because Buck would never answer anything other than yes.
“I-um, yeah, yeah I’m okay.”
Eddie is not a patient man. He knows he seems like one, but he’s not. He’s a man who wants a lot, and that wants it now.
More than once has life taught him to wait, to think before acting, but impulses are stronger than habits, so he rounds the table, coming to stand exactly two feet away from Buck.
This time, it’s his turn to stare. His eyes wander down Buck’s body, trying to find whatever’s wrong with him as if he were using a thermographic camera. It’s not that many minutes later that he sees it. It.
“Are you hard, Evan?”
The use of his real name almost makes him jump. His breath hitches and for a second there, he feels unarmed. Completely defenseless against a man who could have his way with him with a simple snap of his fingers.
There’s no point in denying it. Eddie’s a medic, a veteran, a firefighter. Buck doesn’t think there’s anything Eddie doesn’t know about the human body — which, of course, Eddie would fight him on. I mean ‘c’mon, Buck, there’s actual paramedics and doctors and scientists out there.’
But Buck’s a man of conviction. So, whatever he believes in, he believes in forever. And Buck believes in Eddie. A bit much, if you ask his psychologist.
He swallows, and somehow, it makes him harder. Eddie shifts his weight from one leg to the other, adopting a condescending little pose that slowly turns into amusement. If only Buck had any cards to play, things would go differently, but alas, he’s got nothing. Empty handed, if you will.
“Yes,” he says, a little breathless and quiet and oh, too submissive, and even if he’s avoiding those caramel irises right now, he knows he’s getting inspected. Like some kind of sick animal. Well- he means an animal that’s sick, not a- whatever.
Eddie laughs. It’s throaty and Buck acknowledges that he’s trying to push it down. He recognizes that. At the very least, Eddie’s not trying to make fun of him. Still, there’s not much he can do. So he laughs too. Nervously, though.
“Eddie-,”
“Cooking and cleaning? That’s what turns you on?”
See, it’s a little more complicated than that. It’s not the action, it’s the man. Eddie could be boiling water or knitting a sweater for all he cares. Eddie’s hot. He’s… well, Eddie!
“When it’s you,” he deadpans, a little embarrassed. Because, really, how much more torture can a single man put him through?
Eddie’s face changes. It’s the silence that makes Buck turn his head completely. His body remains to the front, but now their faces are closer than they’ve ever been. Except- except that one time, but they don’t talk about it.
“When it’s me,” he repeats, as if he’s learning a new phrase in a new language. It does send Buck into a momentary spiral of how Eddie learned all the English he knows. It’s truly impressive.
“When it’s you,” he says again, and boy does he mean it. Affirmative, correct, absolutely fucking accurate.
They do that dance for a second. It’s ridiculous, and if anybody heard them, they’d think they were insane.
Buck has categorized himself as that before. A few times in his life, actually (but mostly when he’s stayed past four in the morning thinking of Eddie and the way his body moves because nothing else will get him to come), and Eddie? Well, he’s been categorized as that for more people than just himself. His parents, for example.
“Why?”
It’s not exactly a yes or no question. There’s more to it than ‘you’re hot, please fuck me’, but he doesn’t quite know how to convey it.
The look on his face must tell on him, because Eddie raises his eyebrows again, but this time they’re laced with expectation. It’s like he knows the answer, but needs to hear it to believe it.
Buck swallows again, but it goes down the wrong side. He coughs, covering his mouth with his fist, and straightens up in the stool, blood rushing to his head.
God, child, why does he have to be like this?
Hey, at least it’s not a tracheotomy at a public restaurant.
Eddie is a good man. Above everything else — every fucking thing that makes him perfect, that is —, Eddie is a good man. So, he steps closer, and rubs Buck’s back until the man stops sounding like the black box recording from flight MH370.
It’s soothing. It’s calming and nice and- Buck starts feeling like maybe he can confess. Like maybe, after all these years, finally letting himself free from the chains that he tied himself with, may not be that bad.
“Because I’m in love with you,” he mutters, and it’s hoarse. He has his eyes closed but he doesn’t need them to feel the way Eddie’s hand stops moving, just to freeze at the small of his spine.
He’s scared to look at him, because then it becomes real. And real has often proved itself to be terrifying, at least from his point of view. He doesn’t imagine it can be this horrible for everyone else, right? I mean, what kind of life is worth living when everything crumbles down the moment you’re honest with yourself?
Yikes, that’s dark.
“I’m in love with you, too.”
It’s such a confident statement that it makes Buck redden immediately. He opens his eyes, turns to Eddie and blinks. “What?”
“You heard me,” he says, and starts rubbing his back again, as if his Love Confession was just a moment in time or a glitch in the system. He doesn’t seem baffled, or angry, or disgusted. The man doesn’t even look surprised.
“You are?”
Eddie laughs again, and it’s embarrassing. It truly is. It’s like they’re playing some sick joke on a kid who doesn’t understand jokes and just wanted to play along.
“Please,” Buck begs, before Eddie can say anything else. “Please don’t play with me. Don’t tell me you’re- you’re… if you’re not-,”
“Buck,” Eddie whispers, and it’s soft. It makes Buck relax under his touch. “I’m not messing with you.”
“You’re not?”
“No, you fool,” Eddie says, leaning down to capture his lips in what’s now officially the top one kiss on Buck’s tally. “Now,” he continues, separating way too early, “let’s see what we can do about that hardon you’re sporting.”
And Jesus.
He could get used to this.

Energy giants reject Australian Conservation Foundation’s infrared video investigation which claims gas leaks and venting at dozens of mines and facilities
youtube
Infrared cameras reveal more than 100 gas leaks across fossil fuel sites in Australia – video
Climate-heating methane gas is leaking or being vented from more than 100 places across 35 fossil fuel sites in Queensland and New South Wales, according to an investigation by environmental organisations.
The Australian Conservation Foundation commissioned the US-based Clean Air Task Force, a global nonprofit, to use new technology to monitor if methane was leaking from coalmines and gas facilities owned by energy giants Santos and Origin and pipeline company Jemena.
Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas with more than 80 times the global heating impact of CO2 over a 20-year period when released into the atmosphere.
The two groups released infrared videos on Tuesday that they said showed gas escaping from a range of infrastructure and mines. The organisations said the videos were recorded over a four-week period in which they visited 80 sites to take a snapshot of Australia’s fossil fuel infrastructure.
They said they found:
At least 25 visible leaks or venting places along major Jemena pipelines in the Darling Downs and in New South Wales between Newcastle and Wollongong.
At least 10 leaks or venting places at coal seam gas wells owned by Origin.
Methane being released from at least four of Santos’ seven coal seam gas wells in NSW’s Pilliga/Bibblewindi forest.
The claims were immediately rejected by two of the companies named. Origin and Santos said they had checked their gas wells after the claims were raised this week and found no leaks. Santos said a routine leak detection inspection last month by the NSW Environment Protection Authority also found no leaks.
The researchers did not suggest the companies were acting illegally, or that they were hiding emissions deliberately. They said they were concerned there was a systemic problem that was not properly regulated.
They said the videos lent further weight to previous studies that found the amount of methane released into the atmosphere was higher than reported. Data released by the International Energy Agency has suggested methane from Australian coalmines and gas production could be more than 60% higher than federal government estimates. Methane has been estimated to have caused nearly a third of the 1.2C increase in average global temperatures since the Industrial Revolution.
The Australian Conservation Foundation’s lead investigator, Annica Schoo, said the organisations had used thermal technology to detect the gas leaks. She said it showed the Albanese government needed a plan that required companies to measure and report on methane emissions properly, install technology to cut methane emissions and rehabilitate abandoned mines.
“The plan should require companies to find and fix leaks as soon as they can,” she said. “The fact is, we just don’t know how much climate-heating methane is leaking from coal and gas in Australia because the regulations are so weak and underreporting is rife.”
Australia has signed up to a global methane pledge to cut emissions by 30% in the decade to 2030.
The researchers said the videos were shot using optical gas imaging technology, which uses a filter to visually record methane’s infrared energy.
Théophile Humann-Guilleminot, an infrared thermographer with the Clean Air Task Force, said the methane leaks he saw in Australia were “on another level” compared with seven other countries in which he had worked. He said he was particularly shocked by Origin’s Talinga and Condamine gasfields.
“In times of heated debates on energy cost, seeing all this gas wasted and supercharging climate change is deeply worrying,” he said.

Advanced Techniques for Leak Detection in Spokane Homes
Water leaks can cause significant damage to homes if not detected and repaired promptly. Spokane homeowners need reliable methods to identify and address leaks before they escalate into costly problems. Advanced leak detection techniques are essential tools in the fight against home water damage. Here’s a look at some of the most effective methods for leak detection in Spokane homes and how they contribute to home water damage repair.
Why Leak Detection is Crucial for Spokane Homes
Water leaks, whether from pipes, roofs, or appliances, can lead to severe damage if not handled quickly. The risk is especially high in areas like Spokane, where seasonal weather changes can put extra stress on plumbing systems. Early detection is key to preventing structural damage, mold growth, and increased repair costs.
By using advanced leak detection techniques, homeowners can catch leaks early, avoiding the extensive home water damage repair that often follows undetected leaks.
Common Signs of Water Leaks
Before diving into advanced techniques, it’s essential to recognize the common signs of water leaks in your Spokane home. These may include:
Unexplained increases in water bills.
Damp or discolored patches on walls, ceilings, or floors.
Musty odors that could indicate mold growth.
The sound of running water when no taps are on.
Cracks in the foundation or walls.
If you notice any of these signs, it’s time to consider professional leak detection services.
Advanced Leak Detection Techniques
Infrared Thermograph
Infrared thermograph is one of the most effective methods for detecting leaks behind walls, under floors, and in ceilings. This technology uses infrared cameras to identify temperature differences caused by water leakage. When water escapes from pipes, it creates cool spots that can be detected by the infrared camera. This method is non-invasive, meaning it doesn’t require any damage to your home’s structure to find the leak.
Moisture Meters
Moisture meters are essential tools in the leak detection process, especially for identifying areas with hidden water damage. These devices measure the moisture content in various materials, such as drywall, wood, and concrete. By scanning different areas of your home, a moisture meter can help detect leaks in their early stages, allowing for timely intervention and preventing further home water damage.
Tracer Gas Detection
Tracer gas detection is a more specialized technique used for detecting leaks in areas where other methods might fail. This process involves introducing a safe, non-toxic gas into the plumbing system. The gas escapes through the leak, and specialized detectors pick up its presence, allowing technicians to locate the leak with precision. This method is particularly useful for detecting leaks in complex or buried pipe systems.
Video Pipe Inspection
For leaks that originate within your plumbing system, video pipe inspection is an invaluable tool. This technique involves inserting a small, flexible camera into the pipes to visually inspect them from the inside. Video pipe inspection allows technicians to identify the exact location and cause of the leak, such as cracks, blockages, or corrosion, enabling accurate and efficient home water damage repair.
The Importance of Professional Leak Detection
While some homeowners may attempt DIY methods for leak detection, professional services are often necessary for accurate results. Advanced leak detection requires specialized equipment and expertise to ensure that leaks are found and repaired promptly. Professional leak detection in Spokane not only prevents further damage but also saves you money in the long run by avoiding unnecessary repairs and replacements.
Conclusion
Leak detection in Spokane homes is a critical aspect of maintaining the integrity of your property and avoiding costly home water damage repair. With advanced techniques like infrared thermography, acoustic detection, and video pipe inspection, you can catch leaks early and protect your home from severe damage. If you suspect a leak in your home, consider contacting a professional leak detection service to ensure the problem is handled efficiently and effectively.

A Comprehensive Guide to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) - Ensuring Safety and Reliability
What is Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)?
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is a range of analysis techniques used in the science and technology industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, structure, or system without causing damage. NDT methods are crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and integrity of various products and structures, especially in industries such as aerospace, automotive, construction, and manufacturing. Unlike destructive testing, which involves testing to the point of failure, NDT allows for thorough inspections while preserving the usability of the tested item.
Geo Con Tech Group specializes in providing comprehensive NDT services to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality in engineering and construction projects. Our expertise in NDT enables us to identify defects and irregularities without compromising the structural integrity of materials and components.
Methods Used in Non-Destructive Testing
Several methods are employed in NDT, each with its unique advantages and applications. The most commonly used methods include:
1. Visual Inspection (VT): Visual Inspection is the most basic NDT method. It involves examining a component with the naked eye or using tools like magnifying glasses, mirrors, or borescopes to detect surface flaws, cracks, or deformities. This method is often the first step in an NDT process and can be enhanced with digital imaging tools.
2. Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Ultrasonic Testing uses high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws in materials. A transducer sends ultrasonic waves into the material, and the reflections from internal imperfections are recorded and analyzed. UT is highly effective for detecting subsurface defects and measuring material thickness.
3. Radiographic Testing (RT): Radiographic Testing employs X-rays or gamma rays to produce images of the internal structure of a component. These images reveal internal defects such as voids, cracks, and inclusions. RT is widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries for inspecting welds and castings.
4. Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): Magnetic Particle Testing involves magnetizing a ferromagnetic material and then applying ferrous particles to the surface. The particles gather at areas with magnetic flux leakage, indicating surface and near-surface defects. MT is commonly used for inspecting welds, castings, and forgings.
5. Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT): Liquid Penetrant Testing uses a liquid dye to penetrate surface-breaking defects. After removing the excess dye, a developer is applied to draw out the dye trapped in flaws, making them visible under UV or white light. PT is effective for detecting surface cracks and porosity.
6. Eddy Current Testing (ECT): Eddy Current Testing uses electromagnetic induction to detect surface and near-surface defects in conductive materials. An alternating current flows through a coil, generating eddy currents in the material. Variations in the eddy current flow indicate the presence of flaws. ECT is often used for inspecting heat exchanger tubes and aircraft components.
7. Acoustic Emission Testing (AE): Acoustic Emission Testing listens for the sound waves produced by the rapid release of energy from localized sources within a material under stress. These sound waves can indicate the presence of active cracks or other structural changes. AE is useful for monitoring the integrity of pressure vessels and storage tanks.
8. Thermographic Testing (TT): Thermographic Testing uses infrared cameras to detect temperature variations on the surface of a material. These variations can indicate underlying defects such as delaminations, voids, or corrosion. TT is widely used in electrical inspections, building diagnostics, and aerospace applications.
What is the Difference Between Destructive and Non-Destructive Testing?
Destructive Testing (DT) involves testing a material or component to failure to understand its properties, performance, and behavior under various conditions. Examples include tensile testing, impact testing, and hardness testing. DT provides detailed information about material properties but destroys the sample in the process, making it unsuitable for inspecting finished products or critical components.
In contrast, Non-Destructive Testing allows for the evaluation of materials and components without causing damage. NDT methods are non-invasive and preserve the integrity of the item being tested, enabling continuous use and further analysis if needed. This is particularly important for safety-critical industries where maintaining the structural integrity of components is essential.
Advantages of Using Non-Destructive Testing
NDT offers several advantages over destructive testing, making it an essential tool in various industries:
1. Preservation of Material Integrity: NDT methods do not damage or alter the material or component being tested. This allows for the inspection of critical components without compromising their functionality or safety.
2. Cost-Effectiveness: By preserving the tested items, NDT reduces the need for replacements and repairs. It also minimizes downtime by allowing for in-service inspections, leading to significant cost savings.
3. Early Detection of Defects: NDT enables the early detection of defects and irregularities, allowing for timely maintenance and repairs. This helps prevent catastrophic failures and extends the lifespan of components.
4. Comprehensive Inspection: NDT methods can detect a wide range of defects, including surface and subsurface flaws. This comprehensive inspection capability ensures a high level of quality control and reliability.
5. Safety and Reliability: By identifying potential issues before they become critical, NDT enhances the safety and reliability of structures and components. This is particularly important in industries such as aerospace, nuclear, and transportation.
6. Compliance with Standards: NDT methods are often required by industry standards and regulations. Implementing NDT ensures compliance with these standards, reducing the risk of non-conformance and legal issues.
Applications of Non-Destructive Testing
NDT is used across various industries to ensure the safety, reliability, and integrity of materials and structures. Some common applications include:
1. Aerospace: In the aerospace industry, NDT is used to inspect aircraft components, engines, and structures for defects that could compromise safety. Methods like ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, and eddy current testing are commonly used for inspecting composite materials, welds, and fasteners.
2. Automotive: The automotive industry uses NDT to inspect critical components such as engine parts, transmissions, and suspension systems. NDT methods help identify manufacturing defects, material inconsistencies, and fatigue cracks, ensuring the reliability and performance of vehicles.
3. Construction: In construction, NDT is used to inspect concrete structures, steel beams, and welds. Methods like visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, and thermographic testing help detect cracks, voids, and corrosion, ensuring the structural integrity of buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
4. Oil and Gas: The oil and gas industry relies on NDT to inspect pipelines, storage tanks, and offshore platforms. Techniques like radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, and acoustic emission testing are used to detect corrosion, leaks, and structural weaknesses, preventing environmental disasters and ensuring safe operations.
