it is so difficult to find any PC case with any sort of aesthetics with a 5 1/4 inch bay. I just want to put a disc drive in, dammit! Why should my PC have to look like it's from the 90s for that?
RB if you think CD drives in computers are not obsolete, but in fact still necessary, despite being artificially phased out

I built a miniature Va11 Hall-A Bar inside of my PC!!
Va11 Hall-A PC Parts & Build list
PC:
CPU : Intel I9 14900k
GPU: Intel Arc A770 16gb
Ram: Corsair Dominator 64gb 5600
Mobo: Maxsun Terminator Z790 D5 wifi
Hard drives M.2: Samsung 990 pro 2tb, Samsung 970 evo plus 1tb, CT 1tb, Adata 500gb
PSU: ROG Thor 850 P2
Cables: Cablemod.com custom shortened and sleeved
Water loop distro : EKWB FLT 120 reservoir + D5 pump
Water loop cpu block: ThermalTake Pacific Mx2 Ultra
Water loop radiators: Alphacool HPE 20 x 2
Water loop hardware: 15 Alphacool, 3 EKWB, 2 Alphacool soft, 2 granzon
Water loop tubes: EKWB Acrylic tube 14mm, Alphacool 13/10 soft
Air Cooling : ThermalTake Toughfan 120mm x 3 + Controller
Air Cooling : Noctua 40mm pwm server fan x 2 (non visible)
Additional RGB Control : Coolermaster controller
Case:
Lian Li PC V600, left side mount, released in 2006, I acquired it in 2015 from PC Recycle in sodo Seattle.
I had to track down a new foot, one had been missing since I acquired the case (ebay)
Mods:These are the case mods I did personally
Cut a hole for the cpu mounts in the Motherboard mount plate as this case was designed for older hardware
Cut two 120mm blowholes and added aluminum covers (Dremel)
Cut Front and rear windows into side panels (Dremel Max)
Moved PSU from vertical placement in the lower right side of the case in front of the CPU to horizontal placement in the top left in old drive bays.
The PSU bracket had to be cut to show the OLED on the side.
Modded the side panel rail slide to accommodate the PSU, I used the original aluminum stand the psu was on, cut in half and epoxied with JB weld.
Changed and moved Power/ Reset switch to the back of the case, shortened and spliced the cable
I cut and bent my own 14mm acrylic tubes (hobby miter, heat gun).
Cut and made two way mirror for the front panel
Plastic "truss" is both functional and aesthetic. It came from a Gunpla accessory kit and has two cables passing through it and it acts as the GPU support. I could only get red and had to paint it.
Notice that some logos are missing/ covered, I dislike having a case as an advertisement. The Rog eye on the PSU is mostly covered but iykyk, most of the word "Intel" on the ARC GPU, Two of the Thermaltake logos on the fan edges, the Paint on the Thermaltake Mx2 Ultra and Maxsun terminator heatsink. (I will eventually cover the visible SSD with a heat sink, cover the fan info on the rear and work a cover for the word "dominator"). the one logo explicitly unchanged is the LianLi case badge, if I think of a perfect replacement, maybe then.
Mod I did not do:
I did NOT shorten and sleeve my own cables, I used cable-mod.com. I am not confident in my ability to do this.
BAR:
"Bar Tiny" Re-ment sets from Japan, 17 sets involved.
I customized the color of the bar and chairs and shortened one table for the mezzanine. The whole bar, minus barback- is on a removable 7 inch piece of black acrylic for cleaning.
Jill Stingray Nendoroid
Jils Cat, it sleeps on the GPU
Jill Stool: Jill is glued to a cute doll stool to see over the bar
Jill Accessories non-Nendoroid: cellphone, purse, coat (ebay)
Dorothy Haze Nendoroid
will be added on release.
Bar Back:I made this myself
Black acrylic sheet, and frosted acrylic rods.
Doll Light power kit: 8 Led lights, 4 incandescent lights
USB Doll light power strip
Other Bar Accessories:
Overhead Hanging farmhouse light
trash, mop, broom, pan, mop bucket,
2 blue fuzzy chairs
Miniature plants
Miniature Microphone
Mini bottle Dom Perignon, an xmas gift from my friend nemo, it's
on the top shelf
Problems and changes:
1. ARGB, pretty pretty pain in the ass. 4 pieces of software........
2. The water loop was changed extensively as hardware came in and space limitations were discovered. The biggest change is that I originally planned to have one radiator on the front of the case, the tubes running over Jills head and to light the tubes as lighting for the bar, to do this the fan would have been in the case proper pushing the whole bar to far into the mobo, it didn't work, so the loop was moved to the top of the case and caused me to have one complex bent tube
Second, I had planned the loop to use one sideport on the distro, but space limitation moved both ports to the top causing the complex fittings setup in that corner.
3. The MOBO, sigh. This has been clearly the most challenging choice I made in this build, I really wanted it to work perfectly too, but I rolled those dice because: Aesthetic+function, the board I wanted (https://en.colorful.cn/en/home/product?mid=84&id=400d19bc-5655-49e1-b391-df00b60935ef) was to great a risk for the cost. This was a silver medal.
I generally dislike the design options I had in the Z790 series of the big board makers (I HATE big logos), especially the full ATX, there was one M that interested me, I should have picked it . This board has potential, but the BIOS is underdeveloped and compatibility has been problematic, I had to do a tricky outdated style BIOS update right from the box, and have had to reset the cmos a couple times. It skips BIOS on general boot and though stable, it will have to be addressed eventually, it doesn't have a proper sleep because of some issue between uefi & legacy. It may end up replaced, which will require a full build teardown.
the Turbo fan built into the board doesn't seem to function
Alos, the two argb connections on the mobo dont work, or I can't get them to recognize anything, necessitating the Coolermaster controller for the PSU and Distro. it is shoved behind the distro along with a Noctua 40mm

Корпус be quiet!

Yeah I wonder who he’s getting chocolate from.
Hey, look who's here!
Hm?
Hi, Souda-kun!
Uhh, h-hey, Arima-san.
Don't worry, I'm not gonna say anything cheesy again, I promise. I'm just here to help Chihiro.
But how's your day been?
Oh, y'know. It's been alright.
My little brother's on a date right now, lucky him. Mostly just had the day to myself.
Yeah, being single on Valentine's Day. I know the feeling.
But hey, thanks to Chihiro, I've been keeping busy, thanks to this G-Force RTZ 4080 Super...
Ah...
Terabyte B750F Torus Master motherboard...
Ahhh...
...All in this Thermaltake Versa H20, complete with a tempered glass window!
Whoa, is it getting hot in here...?
And that's how you flirt with a tech guy!
Yeah, hehe!

it’s not released yet but I think this is the case I’m going to get, assuming it’s big enough and doesn’t have any major issues. It’s the tower 600 from thermaltake if anyone is curious.
Gotta watch reviews once it comes out to decide
The gpu mounting is what worries me. Especially cause my gpu has a support bracket that is screwed into the case.
#this but with all white lights inside.#without the screen at the bottom as that’s extra#it comes in black white and blue as well but I like the green#there were some other new cases shown at computex but this one was my fave#if the cases I’m interested in don’t work out I’ll end up going with something boring like the meshify 2 xl or fractal north xl#this upgrade is not happening anytime soon I’m just dreaming..#there’s microcenter opening up here in a few months so I hope I can get a good bundle with the cpu#I can’t really afford to give af about the aesthetics as I already have a fairly ugly gpu tbh#but I think green + black interior will look good.#just a shame my gpu is a grey brick. would have been better if it was black

I saw on Insta that you got a new PC. Here is the obligatory "specs?" question.
Oh boy. I’m gonna get torn to shreds for this I know it. So here’s the big reveal: it’s a prebuilt.
I know I know.
But as someone who is a lifelong Mac user I don’t feel comfortable enough to build it myself yet since I have so little experience with this type of computer. I did make sure to get a prebuilt that would allow for upgrades in the future so as I get more comfortable I can make changes.
This pc is a ABS Stratos Aqua.
Here are the specs directly copied from the site:
Operating System: Windows 11 Home
CPU: Intel Core i5 13400F 2.5GHz (4.6GHz Turbo Boost Max) 6 P-Core, 4 E-Core, 16-Thread
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Ventus with support for DLSS 3 - AI-Powered Performance
Motherboard: MSI B760 Motherboard
RAM: Kingston Fury RGB 16GB DDR5 5600MHz (2x8GB)
SSD: Kingston 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
CPU Cooler: RGB Air Cooler
PSU: Thermaltake 600W Gold
Case: ABS Stratos S200 White with tempered glass
Dimension: 18.11" x 8.27" x 15.56"
WiFi: Yes
Bluetooth: Yes
VR Ready: Yes
I do plan to upgrade the i5 and the RTX 4060 to something better in the future but for what I need now I think it will be fine!

Thermaltake CT120/CT140 ARGB Sync PC Cooling Fan Pack(s) Review
Thermaltake has sent the CT120 & CT140 ARGB cooling fans for today's review, with short daisy-chained cables that connect directly to the motherboard.
Thermaltake is well known for their radiator fan kits with the SWANFAN and TOUGHFAN range, and for a short time now I’ve been saying that they need to complement these with airflow fans that you can use as a case fan. Today they’ve answered my prayers with the CT120 & CT140 ARGB (and non-ARGB) dual fan kits. Let’s take a look… Thermaltake CT120/CT140 ARGB Sync PC Cooling Fan Pack(s) Review:…

this is. so random. but.
it's been really fun to see all of the high-performance pc fans coalesce around the same general fan blade shape. and by fun I mean sort of silly, because... I mean, you would think that for the however many years before this one that people had been making PC fans they would have actually bothered figuring out the correct shape to make the blades, but whatever
but yeah. after having swapped every fan in every product he buys for a cheaper, quieter, and higher-performing Arctic P14/P12, my dad has enough of them to build a small house.
back in 2018, noctua spent what I assume is an exorbitant amount of R&D money creating the industry's highest-end and most expensive 120mm fan, the NF-A12x25. thermaltake was roundly criticized for immediately copying them.
in 2022, corsair finally got with the program and redesigned its fans to create the AF140/AF120 elite. it has recently come to the attention of some big reviewers that thermalright's peerless assassin cooler is probably the best deal in cpu coolers, driven by its very competent TL-C12 fans.
this post probably looks completely absurd. yes, you are saying, those definitely are fans with smooth, scooped, very forward-swept blades. like a fan. what is your point.
I need you to understand something. for years, the standard budget cooler to recommend was the cooler master hyper 212 evo. we had people buy, over many years, what I assume is many, many millions of these. I had one. it was fine, albeit somewhat whiny at higher rpms. but... okay it is hard to illustrate this, but the outer centimeter or so of these blades sweeps out in the wrong direction! that is not how air works! whoever designed this was presumably just like "this looks fancy let's do it." I mean, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with that, but like... it doesn't cost you anything more to manufacture it the right way, right? if you shaped the fan correctly you could reduce the size of the fin stack slightly for the same noise level and save what would have turned out to be like multiple tons of aluminum! idk.
