Literally my biggest problem with the current state of things.

Atrocities and corruption are just met with a "eh" and that is just insane to me.

Like, have people always been this way? I really don't think they have, it really does feel like Trump and the pandemic caused the vast majority of people to become apathetic to the most inhumane shit.

Also we don't talk enough about how actually fucked up it is to have a generation of kids who have instant access to porn and gore and how that may have a negative impact on shit like empathy.

I grew up with best gore, I've seen some horrible shit, and I can tell you that it has definitely desensitised me.

But whenever you try to address the issue you just get called a boomer or a pussy or you get accused of trying to censor the Internet, like, what? No.

I'm not trying to censor the Internet I just don't think kids should have access to videos of factory workers being turned inside out.

He's definitely a science leader, for more people a civilisation without science (like the TE) with lots of people wouldn't survive because of disease and famines/hard winters. So Senkuu is good.

Wait so they're like the TE, they don't like science? Is it also like where the TE and KoS have to work together to defeat Hyoga or something?? (I'm even more excited)

I suppose they haven't given the 5 generals as much control as Senkuu because they all have conflicting ideals (I think Tsukasa should be a general) and Senkuu is reasonable enough to listen to all of his generals ideas while also maintaining his own logic and how it would work.

Senkuu would definitely find a way to add science to the legal system lol.

Hyoga definitely supports women's right and wrongs, he seems like the kind of person to beat up someone for saying 'what was she wearing'. He's definitely the kind of person you'd pick over a bear but not someone you want to stay with long-term. Don't hate me for this but I kinda agree with Hyoga, not in the sense of only having an elite race of Humans, but that they shouldn't revive the weak people. I mean think about it, without Modern technology like Medicine or office jobs, they'll be sitting around doing nothing helpful or actively dying. He's definitely not. a good person but I can agree with it from my own interpretation and out of care for people. (That actually sounds kind of bad but I promise I mean well)

Do you prefer sub or dub? I enjoy sub because I like hearing it in Japanese and how their voice is supposed to sound like

maybe it’s because it’s “too obvious” but im surprised how few readings I’ve seen of the Substance (2024) that discuss the themes of addiction and substance (ha) use & abuse.

in moderation you can use the substance to become a better, more fun, easier, happier version of yourself. then you realize you no longer want to be who you are when you’re not on the substance. then taking the same dose that used to be enough before isn’t enough anymore, so you want to take more, and just a little bit more couldn’t hurt, right? so you start to take even more. but this is only taking away from sober you, which is painful and difficult and even scarier than what compelled you to take it in the first place, so of course you can’t stop now. now you want to take even more, you NEED to take even more. sober life becomes harder and harder to bear, especially compared to how much easier everything is on the substance. now you’re not only using it to enjoy that feeling anymore, you’re using it to hide from what you’re turning into without it, from what you’ve already turned into.

every minute that you’re sober is spent counting down the days until you can use again, and the ends of being high are spent dreading going back. the sober self is upset and jealous at how irresponsible the high self is. the high self is upset at how much of a buzzkill the sober self is, and wishes they could exist on their own, without requiring their sober tether to existence. but the sober and high selves are the same person, you are one, and you become jealous and angry at yourself for ruining your own life in a vain attempt to become an impossible version of yourself that you most desire to be.

you want so badly to have all—and only all—of the best parts that you milk yourself dry, until you end up with all—and nothing but all—of the bad parts. by the time you truly feel that you have indeed lost everything and know you need to stop, the damage is already done, and there is no going back. you wish you had stopped at the first chance, you wish you had never started to begin with. and even then for many people the only way to deal with this terrifying, painful reality is to use even more, because you have made this terrifying, painful life without your substance feel unliveable, even scarier yet than what had made you use in the first place. there is nothing left to do but to hide from your own life, and the only ways to do this are to stop, to love yourself and take care of the person that you are now… or to keep taking more and more, using until there is truly nothing left, not even yourself.

what's so refreshing about will as a character is that he doesn't throw a denial tantrum about it at any point like most characters with Darkness Within Them do. he's not a moral paragon, his angst and secretkeeping don't get annoying at any point. and i think it's because there's no contrast between who will Really Is, which is Good and True, and the dark king as his shadow or his dark self.

will is the dark king. he behaves like the dark king. he lies and he manipulates and he's a "sneak" and he's scaringly charming and he's possessive over james and a ton of other messed up shit and he tells himself it's for a good reason, and maybe it is!! and will is clearly you know. a Good Person. while his methods are sneaky, he does not actually do anything wrong. but those are his methods still, and they are cool moments and badass and also kind of eerie.

with the way he's written, i would argue will doesn't have or even need a corruption arc, he's just like that from the get-go and he's not gonna change. and i don't mean he was born evil or whatever other bullshit i mean that he was born a full person, including the dark king and will both, and there's complexity, but no clear line separates them.

Anyway s 2 is queen (because I can't even talk more, this season is just complete, good writing very nice villains great new characters that will stick for ever, team work delivered in more than just a few episodes... The action was good, the romance was sweet, and the fun episodes were great I think this season is where winx is at their best writing tho I understand why s 3 is the most loved ~ enchantix is the most iconic form)
