Danny in Metropolis, ch3 p2
Masterpost
please no editing or concrit, brain and hands eepy.
“So, um, Lois invited you over for dinner Friday,” Kon said as they waited for class to end. He kept his eyes on doodle of Red Robin he was making. “She thought we could work on our project and offered to help too.”
“Lois?”
“Oh, um, my step-mom? I guess?” Kon answered before he paused and asked, “Does it count as a step mom when you didn’t have a mom first?”
“You know, I don’t know. I suppose it depends if you’re counting ‘mom’ as a role or from a biological perspective,” Danny answered without even a pause.
It was one of the great (and worrying) things about Danny, Kon could say the wildest shit and Danny would just roll with it. Still, Kon didn’t think it would be a good idea to say that he didn’t have a mom biologically either. He sure as fuck wasn’t putting Lex Luthor in the mother spot, even if Kon regrettably had some of his DNA.
“That’s a good point. Either way she offered. She’s a really good writer so she could be actual help,” Kon said. He added a bird chewing on Red’s hand. “And, like, totally can say no if it’s too weird or whatever, but, like, she said you could stay the night too if you wanted to stay for breakfast and work some the next day too or anything.”
“What is it with your whole family wanting to feed me?” Danny asked, sounding amused.
Kon risked a glance at him and shrugged. “I don’t know. Must be genetic.”
Danny raised a brow at him. “Step-mom.”
Kon rolled his eyes. “Okay, fine, infectious or some shit. My dad’s from the Midwest; people are weird there.”
“Oh, no, that totally explains everything actually,” Danny said with a grin that quickly fell. “Wait, was my offer to help fix things enough?”
“More than enough.”
“But… okay, I should bring over a hostess present though.”
“Danny.”
“Not that I can bake a pie, but I bet there’s a bakery on the way—”
“Danny!”
-
Danny held out the box with the pie in it towards Kon’s parents. “Um, for desert, as a thank you.”
“Well isn’t that swell of you,” Clark said. He was obviously charmed by Danny, which Kon guessed was good.

You glance at the clock—15 minutes tell school is over. To pass the time you doodle on the corner of your notebook. Mr Miller's chemistry class was the worst. His monotone voice could lull anyone to sleep.
Your eyes drift to your desk mate, Parker. They seem just as bored as you, staring blankly out the window. Chemistry was the only class you had without Tim, which left you alone without anyone to talk to. Parker is nice, they’re the only friend you have that’s not already a part of Tim’s circle— If you could call them a friend.
They seemed to catch you staring because they started to scribble something in they’re notebook. A moment later they slid it over to you.
‘You understand any of this’ you smile and glance up at them. They had a cheeky grin. It was cute.
You shake your head and scribble something down. ‘Not a bit’.
They take the notebook back, Parker chuckles as they read your message, rolling their eyes.
“Guess we’re screwed than” they whisper.
You let out a small giggle “guess so”.
The bell rings before you and Parker can chat more. You’re quick to pack up your things, you wanna get home as soon as possible.
You sling your backpack over your shoulder but before you can head out the door Parker speaks up.
”Hey Y/n I got a question for you”
you pause before turning all your attention to them “yeah what’s up?”
”I was wondering…” their voice wavers and their cheeks go pink “well you know how Valentine’s Day is in a few days” Parker stumbles out, fingers tapping on the notebook. you nod.
”I was hoping… you and me could go out together, like on a date” their voice seemed to gain some confidence, and a boyish smile tugs on their lips.
You paused. You haven't really thought about going on a date with anyone, but the more you think about it why would you say no. Parker’s nice, funny, and they’re pretty cute.
You smile “Sure sounds like fun”.
Parker stares at you, wide eyed, like a deer in headlights. You take that as your cue to start heading out.
“Uhh. Yeah we’ll talk more tomorrow yeah?” They stammer.
“Yeah lets talk tomorrow” you call out from the other end of the classroom, before heading out the door.
Walking through the halls you check your phone. It’d been buzzing all class, it had to have been Dick.
<Dick>
Hey baby bird, how were your classes?
I’m in town today and we need to go out.
I Just asked Alfred I’m picking you up today!!
I’ll be waiting outside
Tim’s got a ride so don't worry about him
just you and me today!!
You scoff rolling your eyes. He easily could have sent these as one message, he just liked being annoying.
After putting your books away in your locker, you made your way to the parking lot. It’s packed with people and cars, but before you could spot him.
“Babybird I missed you so much!”
He yelled from across the parking lot, as he leaned against his car. You cringed as students stared at you and him. Could he get anymore embarrassing?
He ruffled your hair as you got into the passenger seat.
“C’mon let's go” he ushered you inside before, racing out of the parking lot.
“So I’m thinking we head to that new cafe you were talking about, and maybe stop by that old bookstore you like so much before we head home.” He keeps his eyes on the road.
“Yeah sounds like a plan” you smile.
He starts talking again, you tune him out. Your mind wanders back to when Parker asked you out. A giddy smile tugged at your lips. It made you feel all warm inside, this will be your first valentine’s on an actual date.
“You spacing out baby bird?” Dick raises a brow.
”sorry, sorry long day” you stammer. Dick makes a face, like he doesn’t quite believe you.
“sure.” His voice is a little irritated. Great, he's already starting to get pissy.
Your family’s always been weird about you. It's probably because you're not a vigilante but you can still take care of yourself.
It’s been getting worse as you get older, they just keep adding rules on top of rules. No going out past 7. No leaving anyone’s side at a gala. Always eat lunch with Tim’. Damian has way less rules than you do, and he doesn’t even follow them. It’s like they're scared to let you grow up.
Lately it’s been worse. Conversations stop once you enter a room. Touches lingering a little longer than normal. Eyes lingering for too long.
Whatever you’re used to their overprotectiveness.
It’s why you plan to keep your Valentine’s Day plans to yourself. You can just imagine everyone’s reactions. Dick will probably get super clingy. Tim will pull up their search history. Damian will go on a rant about how Parker doesn’t deserve you. Jason might corner them in some alley. and Cass will have that disappointed look on her face, the kind that makes you feel horrible.
Bruce might even ground you.
“Yeah” Dick’s grip tightened on the steering wheel tightens “no way” he mutters to himself.
Dicks muttering snaps you back to reality “what did you say?” You ask.
He forces a smile “Oh nothing baby bird, just excited”
Tumblr media
You and Dick make it back after a few hours, and you’re exhausted. He took all across Gotham, trying to any and everything with you. It’s pretty obvious that he was trying to make up for lost time. He’s been in Blüdhaven more often.
by the time you step through the front door you want nothing more than to calloused into bed.
Instead you’re greeted by Damian. Judging from the scowl on his face he’s more pissed off than usual
Damian crossed his arms. ”You said you’d only take them out to eat.” He scoffed.
Dick slid off his shoes lazily , not even bothering to look up.”We were having too much fun and lost track of time.” Dick forced laughed.
Damian doesn’t move. ”You were gone for nearly 3 hours.” His voice is flat, clearly not buying the excuse.
“It’s my fault” you chime in, trying to diffuse the tension. Damian’s head turns toward you, his expression softens. “I asked Dick to drive me all over town” you smile, Dick ruffles your hair before heading down the hall. Damian doesn’t spare him a glance, his eyes locked in on you.
You start to make your way to your room, Damian follows— of course.
”you promised to be my model for my newest painting. When do you expect to make it up?” He asks. You hum “After dinner? You’ll still have a few hours until patrol”.
He pauses for a moment “I suppose that will work.” He says, the faintest smile forming on his lips.
You grip the handle of your bedroom door, praying you’ll get some alone time for once.
You don’t.
As you step inside Damian follows, his sharp gaze assessing the space. You sigh but don’t say anything.
Dinner should be ready in an hour, Damian’s not gonna leave anytime soon. might as well scroll through your phone in the meantime.
You and Damian head downstairs and as you make your way to your seat the conversation at the table does. everyone's eyes flicker towards you. You raise a brow but before you can say anything Alfred pipes up.
”I cooked your favourite tonight master y/n” he says, as if nothing is off.
You smile, shaking off the tension. “thank you Alfred”
As you go to take a bite you notice Jason’s gaze. it’s not his usual lazy smile. It’s sharper, more intense, watching. Did something happen? His anger is almost never directed towards you. Did Bruce say something?
Before your mind starts to wander your eyes glance towards Cass, she’s frowning like she’s almost disappointed in you but not quite.
“How was school today y/n?” Bruce’s voice cuts through the silence.
Everyone’s head turns to look at you. Waiting, as if they’re expecting something.
It’s fine you’re used to your family being weird like this.
You take a sip of your water ”it was fine” you force a casual tone. There is no way you can let them know about Parker.
Jason tilts his head “Nothing exciting happened?” He asked, studying your face.
You swallow “No not really.” You take another bite of your food, praying they don’t press the issue any further.
The family shares a look, silent but you noticed.
you pretend you didn’t.
Dick tried to steer the conversation in a different direction. But everyone seemed to be too lost in their thoughts to put in much effort.
The air remains heavy, the tension is palpable, and you feel everyone’s eyes on you.
It was the longest family dinner ever.
Tumblr media
As the week drags on your family grows more intense.
It’s different this time.
They watch you closer, you never get any alone time. Even after spending more time with them than usual, they still expect something from you.
But what?
You don’t have time to think about that, todays the 14th, your first real valentine’s date. And you have everything planned.
At lunch you subtly drop a hint to Tim that you have this big chemistry project due tomorrow. Then after Lunch you’ll text Bruce and Alfred that you'll be home late, ‘working on it’. Bruce might check in with Tim, but Tim will confirm your story.
It’s practically fool proof.
Excitment courses through you all day. You have chemistry next, so you’ll be able to see Parker. You were just so excited— you deserved this.
At lunch Tim did not seem amused, in fact he looked quite pissed.
When you told him about your ‘Chemistry project’ he just forced a simile and nodded, he didn’t say anything for the rest of the period.
You didn’t pay him much mind though, you were to focused on your date.
As you walked through the halls to your chem class you kept glancing at your phone, waiting for Bruce’s response.
<y/n>
I have this super big chemistry project due tomorrow. My partner and I are gonna work on it together after school.
They’ll give me a ride back, don't worry.
<Bruce>
Ok, Tim will wait for you.
Shit.
what were you gonna do now? Tim was already onto you, there’s no way you’ll be able to go out now.
You’re so lost in thought that you don’t even notice Parker sitting down.
“Hey y/n you okay?”
You frown ”I don't think we’ll be able to go out today, my family is on my ass right now”
Why can’t you just have one nice thing, for once?
”oh” Parker pauses, they fiddle with their bag. Parker’s clearly upset about the situation as well. Then suddenly their face lights up.
Parker grins ”What if we go right now?” they exclaim. Quickly packing up their things.
You blink “What do you mean?”
“There’s only 10 minutes until class starts. We can leave right now and the teacher will never know” Excitement exudes from their voice.
Your heart pounds in your chest.
you’ve never even thought of skipping class before. You family would kill you.
But then again they’re the ones that never let you do anything. They control everything
So who cares what they do, you want to have fun.
A grin tugs on your lips. You scramble to pack up your stuff “sure lets do you”.
Parker gives that same childish smile from when they asked you out.
Despite the small voice telling you this is a bad idea, you felt excited, giddy.
you felt free.
You race to Parker’s car. A mix of adrenaline and excitement made you run faster than you ever have before.
Behind you, Parker struggled to up ”Jesus, Y/n— I’ve never seen you run so fast before” they gasped, hands on their knees trying to catch their breath.
You chuckle “sorry I got excited”
Parker shakes his head, same childish smile on their face as they unlock the car, before sitting on the driver’s side.
Before you get in you look back at the school. A shiver runs down your spine and a little voice whispers at you to turn back.
For a moment you pause. If you turn back now you wont be in any trouble.
You shake it off and hop into the seat.
+++
A cozy cafe would be the best choice. It’s close to the school you’ve been there a couple of times, and the food is really good.
As they pull into the parking lot you’re nervous. This is your first date, what is supposed to happen? What’s even the proper etiquette?
You shake your head and brush those thoughts away.
As you and Parker walk inside, you relax. The cafe is warm, with subtle pinks and blues on the wall. It smells like coffee and pastries. Parker picks a table near the back, and you settle down across from them.
Conversation between you two just seems to flow. You never realized how funny they are until today.
Any doubt you had washes away.
Once you’re finished giving the waitress your order, you take a sip of water enjoying Parker’s company. Then the bell to the door jingles.
You briefly glance up— just to see who’s there.
Bruce. Jason. Dick. Tim. Cass. Damian.
They stand in the doorway, eyes locked in on you. Their faces are unreadable.
your stomach drops.
You’re stuck. frozen like a deer in headlights, under the weight of their stare.
How did they know?
They make their way over to your table.
Bruce stops in front of you, towering over the table. “I’m disappointed y/n” his voice is monotone, but you can see the crinkle in his brows.
you just stare back at him. Too stunned to speak.
you try say something, anything. But the words die in your throat.
Dick grabs your arm, his grip is soft but firm. ushering you out of your seat.
Dick and Damian walk you out. You don’t resist, you couldn’t even if you wanted to.
Before you walk out the door you glance back.
Parker is surrounded.
Bruce says something too low for you to hear. Your chest sinks. You can only guess what they’re saying to them.
They look petrified.
It feels like an eternity before everyone else gets into the car.
“You’re grounded” Bruce states. A faint smile, barely there tugs at his lips.
You want to disappear forever.
Being grounded meant one thing.
You’ll never be alone again.
Tears start to slide down your checks, your voice wobbles ”I’m sorry— please don't ground me”
No one speaks.
No one listens.
You glance out the window, watching your freedom slip away.

I got my first request done!!!!!! As you can tell I need a lot of practice with writing short stories/oneshots. I suck at making things fast paced but I did my best. I hope you like it 🐈‍⬛ anon, tysm I had a lot of fun writing it. I also kept Parker GN so that way the reader can truly be any self insert. I’m working on CH. 03 of wicked Game rn so that’ll be what I post next. But if you have any ideas send a request I need more practice.

— bug, part viii.
contents: college!sukuna x weird!reader. weird as in just odd and confusing behaviour but nonetheless cute, nothing pervy-weird. reader wears glasses because yes. really awkward and silly hehe. fem reader should be mentioned.
part vii <- part viii -> part ix
Tumblr media
it’s not like everything changes overnight.
it’s not like the sky opens up or a choir of angels descends or birds start singing in perfect harmony the next morning when you text him “good morning :)” and then immediately follow it up with a photo of your breakfast, which is just three gummy worms on a paper towel.
but something’s different.
something shifts.
he can’t name it at first—just a strange tightness in his chest when your name lights up his phone. just a twitch of his fingers when you reach for him without hesitation, tugging on his sleeve, looping your arm through his like it’s muscle memory. like it’s always been allowed.
and he lets you. every time.
you walk side by side and sometimes your hands brush, and sometimes they don’t. but when they do, you don’t pull away anymore.
you just smile and keep talking about the weird cloud that looked like a butt on your walk to class.
and him—he listens. really listens.
not because the cloud matters. not because he cares about meteorological ass formations.
but because it’s you.
in the library, it’s worse.
you sit beside him instead of across, your shoulder warm and solid against his. your notes are a mess—more doodles than words. bats and ghosts and skulls with tiny bows. hearts with fangs. a suspicious number of stick figures that vaguely resemble him getting abducted by aliens or chased by ducks.
you hum under your breath while you work. some weird tune he doesn’t recognize. maybe you made it up.
and sukuna—who was once terrifying, once untouchable, once incapable of giving a single fuck—has stopped pretending to study altogether.
he’s just watching you.
watching the way your mouth moves when you mumble to yourself, the way your glasses slide down your nose, the way your pen taps against your lip when you’re thinking. you press your foot against his under the table sometimes. you probably don’t even realize you’re doing it.
he doesn’t move it away.
not once.
you fall asleep during movie night in your dorm, mouth slightly open, drooling a little on his sleeve. your breath is soft. your nose is cold.
he should be annoyed.
he should roll his eyes and shove you off with a snort, make some crude joke about your spit on his hoodie and ruffle your hair until you squeal and curse at him.
but instead—
he doesn’t move. not for an hour. not even when his arm goes numb.
he just sits there and listens to you breathe. his hoodie smells like your shampoo now. he’ll never wash it again.
people start noticing.
they look. they whisper. they nudge their friends and make assumptions about the space between you, which is always small now. sometimes nonexistent.
sukuna doesn’t care what they say about him.
but you?
he notices how you get quiet when people stare at you both too much. how you fidget with your sleeves even though you talk just fine. how you duck your head and try to disappear.
he especially notices yesterday—when you went to the vending machine alone and came back chewing your lip, glancing over your shoulder like someone said something they shouldn’t have.
you told him it was fine.
he didn’t press.
but now he walks you to every class. waits outside your lectures. buys your juice box and your stupid banana and sits on the bench near the art building like a sentry with a death wish.
he says it’s because he’s bored.
but you know better.
you never treat him like he’s scary. not once.
not when he’s glowering. not when he’s silent. not even when he’s obviously in a mood.
you call him things like “sweetheart” and “bug” which you stole from him just to watch his eye twitch. you hand him sips of your drink with zero hesitation. you doodle hearts around his name in your notes and show him without shame.
you send him memes with captions like “us” and “me thinking about you even though you’re ugly” and “do you still love me even if i’m a worm.”
he doesn’t reply, but he likes every single one.
you kiss his cheek when no one’s looking. sometimes when people are looking.
he’s losing his fucking mind.
and then, one night—he’s on your bed, legs sprawled, hoodie sleeves bunched in his fists, watching you brush your teeth in your tiny bathroom—and it hits him.
like a brick to the chest.
he loves you.
not in a casual, half-assed, temporary way.
he loves you in a way that scares him a little.
in a way that makes him want to know your entire life story. your worst day. your favorite color. how you like your eggs. what your dreams were when you were five and what they are now.
he wants to see you first thing in the morning.
he wants to be the reason you laugh and the place you feel safe and the one person you never doubt will be there when everything else goes to shit.
and maybe he already is.
because when you spit your toothpaste into the sink and glance over your shoulder at him with foam on your chin and your hair a disaster, you don’t look embarrassed.
you just smile.
“what?” you mumble, toothpaste still in your mouth.
he shrugs.
“nothin’.”
but his chest aches.
you crawl into bed next to him like it’s instinct, like you were meant to be there. you curl into his side, nuzzle into his arm, kiss his bicep with a sleepy sigh and whisper goodnight into the fabric of his shirt.
he wraps his arm around you and pulls you in close.
your breathing slows.
his heart doesn’t.
mine, he thinks, and it doesn’t sound like a threat for once. it doesn’t sound like a warning.
it sounds like a promise.
and somehow, for the first time in his life, he doesn’t feel like he’s falling.
he feels like he’s finally landed.

Me gusta soñar, me gustas tu
Summary: Timebomb x reader matching things (accessories, clothes, tattoos or etc) because they would like to get married but uh you know (request)
Warnings: no plot, fluff, gn!reader, not proof read
Pairings: Alternate!Powder x reader x Ekko
A/n: since I didn't know if the request was meant for alternate powder or Jinx, I did both. Enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alternate! Powder and ekko
I think if they want to get married, but they can't, they'd be the type to have promise rings.
Probably one with either three small gemstones of the colour of each (blue for powder, white or orange for ekko and whatever colour you like) or one with each of your initials engraved (as in EP and your initial)
Powder would probably have it on a chain around her neck, and Ekko either on his finger or in a chain too. Under his shirt probably, to not damage it or lose it.
You're just sipping on your drink, waiting for your two partners in one of the tables of the Last Drop. It's a lazy day, slow, sunny, nothing you wouldn't like to go out in. Vander is cleaning glasses when he notices the ring.
"What's that? Getting married already?" He teases, watching Powder and Ekko come in, light catching on the silver around Powder's necks. It isn't until Ekko puts his hand on the counter that he notices the gems on his finger. "Matching rings hm? Get engaged already" He teases again, serving them their drinks.
Benzo has about the same reaction when he walks in, a playful scowl on his face. "You're too young to be thinking about marriage" He scolds, not so playfully. But you all don't care, simply happy to have matching rings.
Then there's more permanent stuff, for example tattoos
I'd see ekko being a clock, and powder either a raven or some gears. Or then you could have the moon (powder) the sun (ekko) and the stars (you). Anything that is symbolic. The three of you would have the same tattoo with the three symbols.
I don't think they would outright tattoo their partners names on their skin, it feels too... impersonal in a way. Or maybe just not like them.
You were all lounging in Powder's hideout, thinking, talking. "What about tattoos?" You proposed, and immediately ekko started doodling.
"Yeah, maybe we could do like... I don't know, birds?" He chuckled, making various different designs.
When you finally picked your designs, you went to a tattoo artist, giving him a few days to create the stencil. In the end, Ekko chose to have his on his shoulder, and powder on her calf, the three of you showing it off once it was all done.
To be honest, it's probable all of your parents were quite sceptic about the tattoos. But once it was done, it was too expensive to get it off. So no one could do anything else than warn you it might not be a good idea.
It was. You kept it forever.
If they feel more like matching things casually, then there's three options
For clothes they'd probably go off a colour, for dates, for example, today everyone goes with a red item, like a jacket, a dress, etc.
Or maybe color coding, like, everyone wears a red top and a blue bottom.
Or maybe simply pattern matching. Something like that.
"I think we should do blue" Powder argued.
"But I want to wear my red jacket!" You complained. Ekko just laughed at your antics.
"But red doesn't go with my hair" she argued.
"It does, stop being a bitch." You muttered, shoving your red hoodie at her, slipping on your red jacket.
"You're finished?" Ekko mused, red coat already slipped on. "Were going to be late"
Powder pouted, nodding as you tugged her out, on your way to meeting with all of your friends. Everyone stared at the laughing couple you were, but how could you care when your girlfriend was snickering along with your boyfriend?
You could also match a piece of jewellery you would wear every day, so for example some earrings, a bracelet, a necklace, maybe everyone a different one but theme coded.
So let's say you do earrings, powder would be blue, ekko gold. So, you could be wearing sapphire gold earring, or a gold necklace and a blue gemstone.
More than everyone wearing the same piece of jewelry, they'd do like a theme and each wears their partner's theme. So ekko could be wearing a blue earring and a ring with your theme.
Or it vould be a charm more than a colour.
Everyone noticed it, from night to day, all of you had changed the usual jewelry you wore, ekko's plain silver earings had now each a small charm, different. Powder's necklace had, added to the crystal it used to have, two more charms with it. And you wore the same, well, not excatly, they had one you didn't, and you had one each didn't have.
And finally, the third idea I'd have would be key chains or trinkets. Something that reminds you of your two partners. Maybe custom stickers, or a key chain that says E and P, etc
You could have a phone cord made by powder with blue and golden pearls or maybe gears and clock charms, or a special key chain.
And they'd have the same. Of course, you add whatever feels like you to it. So let's say, you're red and roses, you would each make a phone cord or key chain (depending on preference) with blue pearls, mechanical charms, red pearls, rose charms and golden pearls and clock or clockwork charms.
"Wait- put more blue ones" Powded shoved more pearls towards you, your key chain having a majority of gold and your color. "Please" She pouted.
You willingly agreed, chuckling as she shoved the same pearls towards Ekko. "You too, there's almost none" she complained, like a child. Even if the majority of Ekko's was of both of your colours, barely having gold.
"Powder, we're going to end up with all blue ones" He chuckled, amused at her antics.
"Well that's good, everyone needs to known you're my partners." She scoffed, tugging you closer to her.
You ended up with an almost all blue key chain with mostly charms for Ekko and barely anything for you. Not that you were complaining. Now you had both your partners always in your pocket.
You could also wear matching nails, I feel like Ekko would love to paint his nails. Maybe a colour for each partner or the same colour for everyone. Although that feels less like their chaotic energy.
You held Ekko's hands, painting his nails, one blue, one gold, one of your color, another gold and another blue. Powder was besides you, shaking her hands to make them dry faster.
Soft music played in the background, humming along with it. Your nails had been painted by Powder and hers had been painted by Ekko.
"Do you like it?" You asked softly, examination his hands for any flaws in your paint. "It's cute" you hummed.
"I love it. It's really pretty" He chuckled, taking your hand and kissing it. "Like you" he winked.
"You're gonna mess up your nails" You complained, showing them off to powder. "Look, they're gorgeous"
"Like you" she hummed, grinning. They both stared so much you couldn't help but blush.
Jinx and ekko
If we're talking about Jinx, she would probably go the extra mile and get something more than rings, who knows how far that woman would go
If you're not much the extra type, she would do rings, and so would Ekko. Just like alternate timebomb, they would have something matching in the rings
Maybe three stones again, golden, blue and your colour, or maybe more like your three names together, but jinx would probably put yours in the middle
Ekko would just be the type to follow her ideas, as she's a wild card but in the good way. And she's dedicated
"And I mean, worst that can happen is that we have to make it ourselves" she joked, already picking scrap metal. She was going to make it herself, no matter what you would argue.
And then, a few days later, you would have each a ring around your neck, on a chain. Vi would ask her about it, and the firelight's children would definitely ask Ekko. But they would keep it to themselves, just happy to know they have their partners around their neck.
If we're talking tattoos, Jinx would get the biggest tattoo ever for you and Ekko, wherever you ask her to. Ekko would probably get it somewhere more discreet, he doesn't seem like the type to get visible tattoos, it's more something for you and her
The design would be way more attention calling, you could do birds, a raven, an owl and a bird for you, or symbols, her monkey, ekkos clock or gears and whatever you feel like fits you.
Jinx would totally tattoo your name if you ask her to, but ekko would probably tell her it's not the best idea, especially since she is still a criminal and the three of you are often in danger. Giving directly your partners' names isn't the best idea.
She showed up a few days after choosing the design, showing her back and moving her braids aside. "Look toots, I got the tatto" she giggled, showing off a monkey, a clock and your symbol. "It's about time yall get yours" she pouted.
Ekko shook his head, smiling. At least he had managed to convince her to not get your name. She went towards him, throwing herself on his shoulders. "Whatcha mocking me about hm?" She scolded playfully, glancing at your soft smile.
For casual matching, or date matching, jinx isn't the type to own a lot of different clothes, so she would probably add something symbolic of you to her outfit, like, let's say, a clock for ekko (I'm obsessed with the idea of clocks representing ekko) that she would wear every day
Ekko would do the same if you're up for it.
But if we're talking proper clothes matching, Jinx would just steal something, either from you or from piltover. She would do anything to make you and Ekko happy, your wish is her comand. And Ekko would just follow the vibe, he seems like the more passive type for some reason
If we're talking jewelry, Jinx would love to wear matching jewellery for you. Whether it's the same necklace, or a similar one, she says yes immediately.
Ekko might be a bit more difficult, but he would take an alternative. He would never outright refuse to match with you, how could he?
So for example, you could buy a matching set of earrings, necklace and bracelet, or something like that and they would each take one (jixn the necklace, ekko the earrings probably)
"Hey look what I found" you smiled, showing them three pairs of earring, one with a white crystal, one blue and one of your colour.
Jinx immediately threw herself to you, catching the earrings and gushing about them to Ekko. She took one of her colour, helping ekko put it on and begging you to let her. If you didn't have your ears pierced, you better have them pierced now.
Finally we have key chains. Well, I don't think any of them would be the key chain type so they'd probably do more like... charms that they put on their clothes and belts
Maybe something Jinx and Ekko would make for you, or that you make with them. Small trinkets you'd stick on your stuff
Ekko finally finished sculpting the same monkeys that were on his machine. He added a small key ring on top, putting it besides the other two. He just had to make the three clocks now and they would be done. Jinx would love to add the chains He thought.
"Almost done pretty boy?" You kissed his cheek. It was late, you should both be asleep. Jinx was already snoring on the couch, Isha laying in her arms.
"Almost. Go rest, I'll join you later" he murmured back, hugging you and tugging you on his lap. Maybe you should sleep in his arms, while he works.
And nails, jinx would love to do your nails like hers and also ekkos if he let's her. Just imagine, jinx seeing you wear her colours, I think she would be so happy and proud.
If not maybe Ekko would help you do your nails and you'd do his the same way, and you'd beg Jinx to let you do hers too.
I think that would be cute, that the three of you do each other nails, and make matching little designs and stuff
She was giggling like a school girl, painting your nails the same colour as hers. Your back was against Ekko's chest, his legs on either side of you, his arms around you.
As soon as Jinx finished painting all of your nails you pulled her in, wrapping your legs and arms around her, pressing her back against your chest. And that's how you spent the rest of the evening, all cuddled up.
Something else Jinx would love to match would be stuff in your hair. If you have it long enough to braid, she's sticking stuff into yours and Ekkos hair before you even know about it
Maybe just the same golden stuff she has or maybe actual little trinkets and charms that she made or found
"Your hair is so pretty you know that?" She murmured, braiding your hair, adding the same golden charms she had added into her hair and into Ekko's. "So soft, so shiny, how do you do it?" She pouted a bit.
Ekko watched her with a smile, adding the same charms to her own braids.

In an au where milo has siblings that aren't Maya and Ollie, what would they be like and how would it affect the canon lore in miloverse?
Finally, I can answer this ask✨
Tumblr media
Sorry for the long wait, I ended up pretty busy with my job and was backed up with loads of asks (I don’t like mixing my doodles unless it’s just one or two but I had HUNDREDS of asks about All for the fish and decided to just pick through and answer as many as I dared)
Anyways! For Other Kids AU (aka separate ‘what if’ AUs where the Foxes have other or more kids)
Ofc I thought of more andreil kids. What do you take me for? The aftg brainrot is my disease✋😔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⚠️ this is not canon to We’ll Both Be Fine or Milo’s main story in general. This is a what if situation ⚠️
Admittedly, they could have been canon but andreil didn’t care about having more children. Milo was enough for them.
Tumblr media
The first kid is Connie (Conner David) born 2011. Andrew and Neil decide not to deletus the fetus and so Connie is born. It is actually Nicky who gets to name him :)
Milo is very happy and emotional about having a little brother and tries to involve himself in every second of his life. They grow up very close, Connie looking up to Milo a bit.
Connie likes writing, cookies with jam, and spring
Dislikes conflict, chewing gum, and his freckled eyes (has eye nevus)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second are the twins, Honey (Miela Marie) and Niko (Nicholas Nolan) both born 2014. Very simple decision from andreil that since Connie went well, why not test fate? And then they had twins who tried to make their lives hell. Andreil let the Foxes brainstorm names and send their best picks for andreil to choose through before narrowing it down to six (three if it’s a girl and three if it’s a boy) (they didn’t know it’d be twins) and let the foxes make a unanimous decision. The foxes decided on Nolan for a boy and Miela for a girl. Andrew and Neil ended up naming the boy Nicholas (Nicky cried about it for days) and gave Miela the middle name Marie after Abby.
Although Milo loves his new siblings, the twins are very hard to deal with and whine to him about every thing instead of andreil. The kids are also a bit air headed and tend to be hurtful without meaning to. When Milo goes to college, he finds out that they replace him with Connie who takes care of them as if they were his kids. (Admittedly, they love Connie more and it hurts Milo’s feelings)
Honey likes apiculture, traveling, food
Dislikes sitting still, sharing her things, being told what to do
Niko likes sports, napping, living life to the fullest
Dislikes being active (when it’s not sports), alcohol, explaining himself (he can’t)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Old concept designs when I was first making them
Some facts:
- Honey and Niko don’t consider Milo their brother but not in a malicious way. In their weird minds, he’s too old and different (however, they consider him family the same way Nicky, Aaron, Kevin, and Robin are)
- Honey lives with Nicky and Erik in Germany. She goes to school there
- Connie briefly lived with Stuart in the UK for two years, studying literature and journalism
- Niko doesn’t like playing exy but he goes pro as a hockey player since it’s similar
- they all call Milo something different. Connie calls him Brother or Milo, Honey calls him Mywo (Me - Woah), Niko calls him Lio or Em
- Milo used to take the kids to school (either walking or driving) since the twins were in daycare
- each kid is represented by one of the many animals that represent Milo. The rabbit (Connie), the bird (Honey) and the cat (Niko). With them, Milo is the dog. (Each animal makes up a part of Milo’s personality)
-⬆️ specific animals: White bunny (Connie) summer tanager (Honey) orange tabby (Niko) Wolf or Fox (Milo). However if they were Milo; New Zealand rabbit, Crow, and Red Siberian cat
- Maya would not be born in this au because at that point, they’d have their hands full with the twins and there’s no reason to have another. Ollie would have not been adopted either

Tumblr media
Rating: T
Pairing: Vash the Stampede x Reader Summary: Caring for Vash when his wings sprout. CW: angst, fluff, blood, mentions of self-harm, Trimax Vash coded. Word Count: 1.4k A/N: man oh man do I love bird men.
Tumblr media
Vash normally stays huddled up in his room on days like this. There's times where he's had to spend nights on end locked inside until his feathers would painstakingly slowly go away. He'd sit on his bed (if he even had a bed at the time) and wait until he was back to normal. He wouldn't leave, he wouldn't eat, most of the time he wouldn't even sleep. He'd just sit there, alone, with nothing but his thoughts to keep him company. When it was all over, he'd be in a nest of dusty sheets, surrounded by smears of blood and ripped feathers, with crimson dripping from his back from where he had agonizingly plucked at himself.
A monster, huddled away from sight.
Inhuman.
He would never dare go outside like this.
But of course, when you came around, following closely at his heel at all times, you never allowed him to hide away from you like that. You once came looking for him after his prolonged silence, and you had found him in a pitiful state – eyes rimmed red, bloody nails clutching at his own flesh like it wasn't meant to be on his bones, and most notably, white feathers sprouting from his face and wings spread out from his shoulder blades.
He was mortified, embarrassed, scared.
This is it. You're going to see what he really is, and you're going to leave.
He went through all the stages of grief when he saw your eyes widen and your steps come to a halt. He was ready to hear your screams of terror and then never see you again. As much as he wanted to hide, he didn't look away. If you were going to run, he wanted to get one last good look at your beautiful face.
But you didn't leave him that night. You stayed awake with him, talking to him, and you had no flicker of fear or disgust when you looked at him. You didn't get too close, you didn't try to touch him, you didn't stare at him too intently (though he's sure you wanted to), and in the morning when his feathers were gone, you took him out to breakfast like it was any other day. Like nothing changed.
It took a long time to build up into letting you see him like this. Apart from that first night when you refused to leave his side after you saw the scratches on his back and the blood under his nails, he only allowed your gaze for brief moments, like when you insisted on bringing him food, and when you'd come back to scold him for not eating it.
Eventually, you started sitting with him. You wouldn't speak. You'd simply sit in the same space as him, often in a chair in the corner, sometimes on the floor by the bed as you read a book, doodled in a sketchbook, or took a nap. No touches, no words, but still offering him a presence he's never had before when he's felt the furthest from human.
He was the first one to break the silence when he saw you using one of his shedded feathers as a bookmark of all things. You simply responded, “I like it. It's pretty,” like it was the simplest thing in the world.
It's safe to say that nowadays, if he isn't there to greet you when you come down for breakfast in the mornings, you'll be knocking on his door within the hour.
Tonight, you're sitting on his bed, his back facing you as he sits with his knees to his chest, hiding the cracks in his face from your gaze. Your fingers gently run through his sprouted wings, picking out bits of lint and grains of sand caught in his feathers with a tenderness you always grant him, even when he's like this, when he doesn't even have the heart to look you in the eyes.
“I'm sorry, mayfly.”
“Hush. Don't be silly.”
His wings shift, slowly unfurling from around himself the longer you touch them for, as if trying to nudge into your hands for more. A part of him feels bad for liking the attention, but he doesn't want you to stop, even though the feeling of anyone touching the plumage along his back still feels so foreign to him.
“So soft,” you hum, and he feels the heat rise to his face, his cheeks dusting pink under the cracks and feathers. Something about you saying that makes his chest feel warm, despite how much he hates the part of himself you're referring to.
“You know,” you start to say, pulling his attention back to you as your gentle fingers pluck the dirt from him. “I'd like it if you stopped hiding from me whenever this happens.”
Vash winces at your words. “I don't… like it when you see me like this.”
Don't look at me.
Don't leave me.
These wings, these feathers, these marks along his face and body – they all feel like some curse. It's not something you should be seeing, but he can't help wanting you here. It almost feels like he has to keep his wings from reaching towards you, like they have a mind of their own.
“I know, and I'm sorry, but I'm not leaving you alone,” you say back, your hands carefully running along the lengths of his wings, your palms smoothing over the feathers, and the feeling sends an involuntary shiver up his spine. “Is it bad if I like seeing you like this?”
“Heh. I don't see why you would. It's… strange. I would never blame you if you wanted to run away.” And he wouldn't. He knows this, and he knows you know this. He's told you far too many times that you should leave, that you shouldn't be around a monster like him, and sometimes he was much meaner than he ever intended to be with you. It's something he'll regret regardless of how many times he's apologized and how many times you've forgiven him.
He just… doesn't feel like himself when he's in this state. He wants you far away, but he wants you close. He wants to scream and cry and curl in on himself until he disappears, but he wants to wrap himself around you and keep you with him in a nest of feathers until he forgets the outside world exists. His skin crawls and prickles where his feathers sprout from, and sometimes his flesh feels like it's burning, but he aches for the feeling of your hands running through his plumage. It's gotten so, so much worse since you've been around, and he doesn't know why, but he'll keep that bit to himself. No point in making you feel bad for his alien biology when he himself doesn't understand it all.
“I would never run away from you. Hell, half the time I'm struggling to keep up with you,” and his breath hitches when he suddenly feels your arms wrap around his midsection, your head resting against the bed of feathers on his back.
“I think you're beautiful, Vash. With and without wings.”
‘Beautiful.’
What a strange way of describing him.
“You like them…” he mutters quietly, more to himself than to you, like he's trying to wrap his head around what that could possibly mean. He doesn't even notice the way his feathers fluff up and bury your face in his down.
“I do, but I'm more fond of who they're attached to.”
You care, inhuman and all.
He was ready to never see you again after that first night, but you're still here, and you're preening him of all things. You've stitched his wounds, comforted him during his nightmares, held him when he's cried, but this? This is a level of intimacy he's not familiar with. It's vulnerable and selfless and loving and… so much more than he deserves, but you’re doing it for him. He has no way of repaying all the ways you've healed him. His wounds are still there, and they're far too deep to ever hope for the scars to completely fade, but your presence alone is a soothing balm he doesn't think he could ever live without again.
One day, maybe he'll look you in the eyes when you take care of him like this. Maybe he'll turn around and let you card your fingers through the feathers on his cheeks. Maybe after that, maybe when you're taking a nap, he'll hold you close in his arms like he wants to and envelop you in feathers, and he'll show you, despite how much he wishes they weren't there, how warm his wings can be.

Peacock y/n + peacock bois
I cannot remember what i was going on about in previous ask.
Peacock Y/n would be aggressive towards peacock Sun, Moon and Eclipse at first. But gradually it would turn into a sweeter situation.
Have some doodles of the four of them being goobs!
Tumblr media
You never really knew when it happened. When you had fallen so deeply in love. You had hated them... those celestial peacock brothers, Sun, Moon and Eclipse. Just looking at them used to bring out a feeling of disgust in your gut. Now all you gut could do was make butterflies when you were faced before them.
Everything had started out great for you. You had your own private room. A handler to abide to your every wish. Your appearance to the public was so hyped and anticipated people were begging for you to perform early. And when you did do your first performance at the Birds of Paradise casino was a big hit, so much so you were immediately reassigned to dance with the three bastards. That's when things become less ideal.
As soon as you met them your guard was up. You had heard enough about them to know they were the type to get under your skin. You didn't have to wait long to be proven right. During every dance they always tried to one up you. Afterwards they would tease and taunt you every second they got. They weren't outwardly mean or calling you names- besides pet names- they just relentless flirted with you and tried to get you flustered. You soon had enough and were determined to show them their place in the nonexistent pecking order. But they already knew their place. The top, as far as they were concerned.
You tried your best to knock them down a peg, but every time you did, every time you fought back, it only made things worse. They would only try harder to accommodate to your challenge. The brothers were getting more physical the more you resisted their teasing. Sun was leaving kisses on you forhead and cheek. Moon started bringing you treats and refusing to let you leave until he could feed them all to you. Eclipse groomed you and styled your feathers to his liking, telling you how handsome you looked.
Finally, after so long, you caved and stopped fighting so much. All their actions becoming less teasing. They were becoming much more sweet. It actually felt like they genuinely loved you. Maybe they had always loved you, but they just didn't know how to express it properly... but they did seem a bit sad. They missed the feisty you.
So you decide that if they wanted it, they would get it. You weren't as mean or indifferent as before. It was more of a friendly aggression. You began trying to find ways to fluster them back, which you found was quite easy. You hadn't thought of it before. You mostly retorted them or become mean. But flustering them was more rewarding. You loved seeing their feathers bristle when you planted a sneaky kiss on one of their cheeks and ran away. You came to love the games of chase that would ensue afterwards, the vengeful little kisses they would get back once they caught you. Your favorite thing of all was when you snuggled up with them at the end of the day in one of your private rooms. You would cuddle and coo to each other until you all fell asleep.
You didn't mind the butterflies in your stomach anymore. You loved your bastard boyfriends so much. But you had to admit, sometimes, you did still hate their guts.

Towards the Sun | Read on AO3
My part of @thedoomedpie and I’s Solstice Social collab, hosted by @hermitadaymay! Check out Pie’s lovely piece here <3
—☾—
The sky is an endless swath of bright blue above Pearl’s head, and the birds chirp their early song from the bough of every tree around her. At her hip, her almost empty mailbag rustles with every step. She adjusts the brim of her hat against the morning sun and strides towards her next stop.
Tango answers the door in a robe with pools at his feet with a mug of steaming coffee and eyes that brighten when he catches sight of Pearl. “Pearlie! Got my morning mail?”
“I sure do!” Pearl says, and hands him the couple of envelopes with his name scrawled across their fronts. “How’s your weekend off been treating you?”
“It’s been weird,” Tango chuckles. “Nice! But weird. Case in point, when’s the last time I had my mail delivered?”
“Hah, yeah, it was weird seeing it in the office,” Pearl says, and leans against the porch balustrade. “It’s good to see you getting some rest, though! You needed it.”
“Thank you, thank you,” Tango says with a slight, goofy bow. “You’re due for some time off, too. Relax! You deserve it.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” Pearl smiles. “For today though, I’ve got errands to run!”
“Festival organizing, is it? Wouldn’t expect you to be anywhere else,” Tango teases. “Can’t wait!”
“I was just about to ask if I’d be seeing you there!” Pearl says. “There are a few things to be done beforehand, but it’s all coming together beautifully.”
“Wouldn’t miss it! I—” Tango’s interrupted by a rapid series of familiar, high-pitched beeps.
Pearl spots him first. “Hi there little buddy!” She crouches down to meet Grumbot at face-level. “What’s up?”
Grumbot whirs, and the foliage that cascades down the side of his boxy head shakes slightly as a piece of paper slides from the output slot on his torso. He pulls it loose with one doodle-speckled arm and holds it up to Pearl, who takes it and scans it over.
“Mumbo needs help, does he?” she asks. Grumbot extends his hand in what Pearl recognizes to be as close to a thumbs-up as he can get with his lack of fingers, and the motion is equally as endearing as when Mumbo himself flashes one in awkward acknowledgment.
“With the lights?” Tango reads over Pearl’s shoulder. “I can go over and give him a hand.”
“No worries; I’m overseeing the lights, anyway. Besides,” Pearl says, giving Tango a playful poke, “one of us is supposed to be resting.”
“Alright, alright,” Tango concedes. “I’ll get you to take a break one of these days, mark my words.”
“Consider them marked,” Pearl says, and rises to her feet. “Bye, Tango!”
As Pearl turns to follow Grumbot, Tango says, voice fading behind them, “Say hi to Mumbo for me!”
“Will do!” Pearl calls over her shoulder.
—☾—
“You’d really think that hovering lights would be more willing to, you know, hover,” Mumbo says.
Sunlight pours from high-cut windows above the row of cabinets and catches against the glass of the unlit heaps of lanterns scattered around the workshop in various stages of assembly. Redstone wires are piled in the free space left between the lights, and spare circuits weigh down the edges of sprawling blueprints across the benches that line the wall.
Pearl pulls up a stool at Mumbo’s side, where he’s hunched over the central table, turning a bulb between his hands. His suit jacket has been abandoned on a nearby table, and his dress sleeves are shoved back to his elbows. “They’ll get there, I’m sure of it,” she says. “Have you got any clue why they aren’t working?”
“That’s the thing—I have none at all! None!” Mumbo says. He presses a hand to his temple. “There’s nothing obviously wrong with them, they just won’t work.”
“Is it all of them?” Pearl asks, pulling the bulb’s sleek white casing closer to inspect.
“All of them, yep,” Mumbo confirms. “They’re completely unresponsive.”
“Odd.” Flipping the casing upside-down, Pearl slides a nail along the cover until it pops open. The compacted redstone as its core is a beauty, and she takes a moment to admire it. “Grumbot, could you hand me that screwdriver?
Grumbot’s rapid cacophony of dings sounds near-anxious in pitch. Pearl frowns—he’s never been anything but utterly at home in Mumbo’s workshop.
Nonetheless, Grumbot retrieves the screwdriver and holds it out to Pearl from as far away as he can stay. As soon as Pearl takes it and thanks him, he races off to the other side of the room once more, sitting in a sunbeam in the clearest corner of the shop.
“That’s weird,” Mumbo says. “That behavior’s weird, right? He never does that.”
“It is,” Pearl agrees.
“I’ll go ask him,” Mumbo says, and rises from his seat.
Glancing back down, Pearl focuses on the redstone before her, taking it apart piece-by-piece and laying it upon the table. The craftsmanship is perfect; each mechanism primed, every wire lovingly crossed, devoid of misplaced or faulty fires. There’s no reason for it not to work. It doesn’t make sense.
Mumbo’s stool scrapes against the wooden floor as he pulls it back and drops heavily onto it. His brow is knitted and his mustache is ruffled in puzzled confusion.
“What did Grumbot say?” Pearl prompts.
With a slight shake of his head, Mumbo says, “Couldn’t get an answer out of him. He just kept repeating that the redstone was bad.”
Pearl rubs a wire between her fingers. She’s having trouble thinking of a solution, her mind sparking like flint and steel that refuses to take. Her head pangs in a dull ache just in general, honestly—did she have any water before heading out?
Redstone, much like just about anything else, wears out eventually, and brings with it a habit of corroding its surroundings if left to rot for too long (she and Mumbo had learned this the hard way, what with their shared hobby of flipping old tech), but the lanterns’ redstone shows no sign of attrition.
“We could… replace it?” Pearl hedges.
Mumbo looks as uncertain as she feels. “This shouldn’t be all that old,” he says, “I got a new shulker-worth of it a few months ago; it’s been sitting in a chest since.”
“Might as well give it a shot, right?” Pearl says. “We’ve got nothing else to go off of.”
“I guess so.”
Their efforts are to no avail; the lantern remains decidedly dark and firmly grounded.
“It was working yesterday afternoon,” Mumbo says, passing a hand across his face, “I don’t get how it’s just stopped now.”
Pearl scratches at the back of her neck and tilts her head—a poor choice; the movement sends the dizziness behind her eyes spiraling, and she takes a moment to breathe through it. For all that she loves a good puzzle, frustration bubbles at the back of her throat. The redstone should be fine; Mumbo’s worked on it for weeks and his design is meticulous. Of course it’d be now, mere hours before the festival, that a bug would rear its ugly head.
“How complicated would it be to switch it over to solar?” Pearl asks. Whatever’s wrong with the redstone, they can figure out later. She has a schedule to keep, and it cannot be eaten up by stubborn lights.
“Not terribly difficult,” Mumbo says, “but I don’t actually have any panels small enough for them on me, and they won’t last as long, and they’re supposed to be on at night.”
“If you can get panels in the next hour and charge them while you assemble, they’ll have a few hours’ worth of juice in them, which is all we need,” Pearl says. “Redstone’s not giving. We need the lanterns faster than we can fix whatever’s wrong with them.”
“Okay,” Mumbo says. “Yeah, you’re right. Thanks for the help.”
“Sorry I couldn’t do more,” Pearl says sincerely. “I’ll get those panels to you, how’s that?”
“Oh, that’d be wonderful, actually,” Mumbo says. “Thanks, Pearl!”
Pearl’s about to respond when her communicator buzzes in her pocket. Pulling it out, she reads: there’s been a situation.
Sighing, she says to Mumbo, “Change of plans; looks like I’m needed elsewhere, unfortunately.” For what exactly, she’s not sure. Leave it to Grian to provide no further specifications.
“That’s okay!” Mumbo says. “All good, no worries. I’ll get it handled.”
“You’re just the man for the job, mate,” Pearl says, patting him on the shoulder before adjusting her bag’s strap. “Call Etho if you need an extra set of hands—Tango’s supposed to be resting.”
“Ah, I did hear about that, yep,” Mumbo says. “You’ve got it! Good luck with the preparations!”
Pearl flashes a salute before stepping outside. Before the door can fully close behind her, Grumbot zips through it and wraps an arm around her leg.
“You want to come with?” Pearl asks.
Grumbot gives a furious nod and a wiggle of his mustache.
“I’m heading for the labs, you know,” Pearl says.
Grumbot’s aversion towards them is as stalwart as the rise and set of the sun; he refuses to step foot on the grounds. Though Pearl expects him to back out, Grumbot nods his head again.
“Alright,” Pearl says skeptically. “Maybe between you and I, we can drag Grian out for some fresh air, aye?”
—☾—
Mumbo’s workshop is closer to the fields than it is the center square, and though the walk is lovely, the spring day pleasantly balmy, Pearl keeps her pace at a fast clip. The excited bustle of festival preparations amidst the mundanities of everyday life streams past her as she stops by the post office to drop off her mailbag and marches towards the laboratory at the heart of Solaris.
The streets narrow and quiet down as she and Grumbot continue on past rows of shops closed for the day and markets whose early hours have long passed. A light breeze plays with the ends of Pearl’s hair and Grumbot hums something Pearl recognizes to be one of her own silly little tunes; after a beat she joins in. Despite the mission at hand, it’s all rather peaceful—a tranquility that is completely shattered by the swarm of bees that seems to materialize directly in front of them, swiftly followed by a familiar dash of pink and blue.
“Lizzie!” Pearl calls out. “What’re you up to, mate?”
With a bouquet of overflowing flowers in one hand and a net in the other, Lizzie turns to Pearl. “The bees!” she exclaims, slightly out of breath.
“What about them?” Pearl asks, tilting her head. “They’re allowed to roam, aren’t they?”
“Joel broke their hive by mistake whilst trying to move them,” Lizzie explains. Her fuzzy wings flutter behind her. “We’re trying to get them back into a new one before they take off for somewhere else entirely. And they don’t want to blumming listen!”
“I can’t imagine bees are known for their listening skills,” Pearl agrees. “Are you trying to lure them back home?” Lizzie’s flower shop is nearby, but her and Joel’s house is a few blocks away.
“Joel’s getting the new hive now,” Lizzie says. “I’m just rounding them up for when he gets here with it.”
“Grumbot here and I can help!” Pearl offers. She can’t just leave Lizzie with all of this. She prays that it won’t take terribly long. “Isn’t that right?”
Grumbot makes a sound that approximates agreement. There’s already a bee perched upon one of his flowers.
“Great!” Lizzie says. She halves her bundle of flowers and passes them to Pearl. “Here, take these. Try to get them to stay around the shop. I’ll head down Main.”
“You’ve got it!” Pearl says. Lizzie flashes a relieved smile and runs off.
Left to her own devices, Pearl’s immediately struck by how difficult of a task it is to get the bees to remain anywhere specific.
Petunias tangle with ivy down the side of nearly every building down the street, and nasturtiums sprout around each lamp out front. Sculpted topiaries, colorful flower beds, and communal gardens fill every bit of space not occupied by paths.
Pearl has always taken pride in the lush beauty of their little town, and so close to the festival, it’s dialed up to a hundred: flower wreaths and garlands are hung by the bushel. The bees—several hundred of them, by the looks of it—seem determined to visit every last petal.
“Here, buzzy buzzy bees,” Pearl coaxes, holding out a fistful of lilacs to the group in front of the bakery. Somewhere behind her, Grumbot imitates the bees in a whirring hum. “C’mon, that’s it…”
After Pearl leads her first group to the flower shop and watches as they cluster contently on the stand of bouquets by the door, she stations Grumbot next to it to gently discourage anyone from wandering too far. He waves his bundle of flowers invitingly to any bee that leaves the stand, beeping to alert Pearl if one slips past him.
Pearl oscillates between grabbing the furthest bees’ attention and slowly luring them closer to the shop. Though most of them hover within reach, a few have drifted further up into rooftop gardens or flower boxes beneath second story windows, and Pearl resolves to locate a ladder as soon as she can. The emptiness of the path is a relief—Pearl can’t imagine the difficulty passerby would add to bee-wrangling.
By the time Joel arrives, fresh hive in hand, Pearl’s gotten most of the bees in the same general area, darting across the flower shop’s front, perched upon her own bunch of flowers, or flying lazy circles around her face.
“It should be all set up now,” Joel says, setting the hive carefully down on one of the nearby tables. Two bees fly right in, and after a moment, several dozen under the storefront window leave their bouquets to follow. “And hi, Pearl. Thanks for the hand.” Pearl waves.
Lizzie reppears with a mini-swarm of the most adventurous of stragglers, and her bees hover cautiously around the hive for a moment until joining the ones inside. “Thank goodness,” she says. “Do you have Queenie?”
“She’s in there, yep,” Joel says proudly. “There’s also the couple of frames I managed to save.”
“Nice!” Pearl says, and gently shakes her bundle of flowers over the open top to encourage her bees loose.
“We’ll just have to get them close enough that they go in,” Joel says. “They’re smart enough; they’ll follow their queen.”
Grumbot appears at Joel’s hip with clasped hands and several murmuring beeps. His extended arms just barely reach the top of the hive, and when he opens his hands, a single bee flies out and into the hive below. Pearl laughs softly and Lizzie grins; even Joel can’t help but look charmed.
“Thank you, Grumbot,” Lizzie says with all the seriousness of ceremony. Grumbot wiggles his mustache, pleased.
Between the four of them and the ladder Joel runs back home to retrieve, they gather up the last of the bees and give the street one final sweep before sliding the hive’s cover on. Joel hefts it up with a grunt, and says his goodbyes before disappearing around the block.
“Thanks for the help, guys!” Lizzie says. “I was real worried there; it’s a good thing you came along.”
“Of course!” Pearl says. “I couldn’t just leave a gal hanging, now could I?”
Lizzie’s expression turns contemplative, and she mutters something that Pearl can’t quite catch before saying, “Oh! Have you picked out your flowers yet? For your crown?”
Her flower crown! Pearl lightly smacks the heel of her hand against her brow. “I’d totally forgotten, to be honest. I’ve been so busy with everything else, it’d just slipped my mind.”
“Well, come by the shop anytime today, and they’re on the house,” Lizzie says. “As payment.”
Though no payment is needed, it’s useless to argue; Lizzie’s made-up mind is a firm thing, and besides—Pearl really does need a crown. “Thank you so much, Lizzie!”
“It’s the least I could do,” Lizzie says with a grin. “See you later?”
“You betcha.” Pearl winks.
Continuing down the freshly bee-less street, Pearl spares the clock on its end a glance and makes a mental note to swing by the flower shop once the plaza’s fully set up. Early afternoon has already managed to sink its unerring roots into the day, and there’s still so much left on Pearl’s checklist. Total perfection may not be the name of the game, but she’s determined to land as close to it as possible.
She’s so occupied with running through the list in her head—meet with Scar and Bdubs, consolidate decorations, run home and change, eat at some point, that’s probably important—that she nearly runs straight into Gem and Impulse.
Gem halts the wagon behind her before it can crash into Pearl. “Hey, Pearl!” she says. Impulse waves from his spot further back.
Pearl shakes herself free from her ruminations. “Hiya, guys!” Grumbot beeps in greeting.
“Whatcha you up to?” Gem asks. She loosely crosses her arms and leans against the wooden paneling of the wagon, and it jostles gently against her weight. Its underside casts soft golden light upon the cobbled street it hovers above.
“Heading to the labs,” Pearl answers. “You two are catering, I’d assume?”
“Not quite yet,” Gem says, “but we will be in an hour. For now, we’re just helping move stuff around.”
“Fantastic,” Pearl says. “Quick question, is your wagon working as normal?”
Gem and Impulse turn to it in unison.
“Chugging along as always,” Impulse says, and raises his eyebrow with a faint, confused smirk. “Why, what’s up?”
“Just checking,” Pearl says. She sounds a little frazzled to her own ears, to be honest. If Mumbo’s redstone problem was town-wide, she’d certainly know about it by now—she’s not sure what she was expecting, really.
“O-oookay,” Gem says, squinting. “You’ve got leaves in your hair, by the way.”
“How did that—? Ah, oh well. My accessories.” Pearl waves a vague hand. “I’d love to stay and chat, but I’ve really got to get going. Bye!”
“You’re being so suspicious!” Gem exclaims, laughing slightly.
“All part of my charm!” Pearl says. She starts to walk away before sharply changing her mind; turning back, she asks, “Actually, can Grumbot hang out with you two?” At Grumbot’s protest, she reminds him, “The labs.”
“Yeah, sure,” Gem says, and smiles at Grumbot. “This does not make you any less weird, though.”
“Does anything?” Pearl leans down to give Grumbot’s head a pat, and after returning the gesture to her arm, he plods off to Impulse. “See you all later!”
Gem snorts. Impulse’s directions and Grumbot’s responding beeps fade behind Pearl as she thrusts ahead.
—☾—
The polished floors of the laboratory's foyer catch and reflect the daylight from where it filters through the glass dome high above Pearl’s head. Carefully maintained potted yucca and pitcher pods frame either side of the reception desk, bringing with them splashes of life in the otherwise still space.
She’s been here often enough to remember the crack in one of the mud bricks above the maintenance closet, and the receptionist’s nod is familiar as they wave Pearl through. Sweeping past the main doors, she raps against the second door to the left in a cursory knock before pushing it open.
It takes her eyes a moment to adjust to the sudden dimness. When her vision clears, she regards the mess around her—just as disorganized as she’d last seen it, despite Grian’s promise to declutter—with a long-suffering sigh.
“Yeah, yeah, I had other things to do,” Grian comes around one of the tables saying. His coat is, for once, fully buttoned, however rumpled it is, though his red sweater peeks out at the collar.
“I can’t believe you,” Pearl says. “We talk about this every ti—”
“Not this time, I’m afraid,” Grian interrupts. He has the good grace to look apologetic when Pearl glares. “Listen, I brought you here for a reason.”
“Coulda used it upfront, really,” Pearl mutters. Grian shrugs.
“There was a minor sculk—not even a flare; it’s not big enough to be a flare—incident this morning, at Vintage Beef’s,” Grian says. “Before it opened. Beef had noticed a small spread following his pre-hour duties.”
Pearl can’t quite stop the small gasp that escapes her, and her heartbeat picks up in her ears. “Is anyone hurt?” Infected, she doesn’t say.
“No.” Grian shakes his head. “It was fresh enough that Beef didn’t suffer more than a nasty headache, and he avoided contact.”
“That’s good,” Pearl says, a little distantly. There have been instances of sculk sightings within town before, but they usually crop up on the outskirts, closer to the ruins; the butcher’s is so central. “Has the sculk been fully cleared?”
“That’s the thing—we’ve been developing this, this new agent, and it worked like a charm. It kills the sculk without aggravating it; all that’s needed afterwards is some good ol’ elbow grease. Pearl,” he says incredulously, “it didn’t spread.”
“Really? Gri, that’s amazing!” Pearl exclaims. “What about the surfaces it was on? How did they fare?”
Grian pulls a face and tilts his outstretched palm. “It was in the press, really messed up the redstone. Had to be replaced. The wall behind it is being replaced, just to be safe,” he says. “But, I nabbed a piece before they could stop me.”
“You and rules never have gotten along,” Pearl agrees. “Did you test it?”
“Of course I did.” Grian grins. “There was the tiniest sliver of residue, but it’s completely inactive after being sprayed. A few minor tweaks to a formula and bam, it’ll be as if it was never there in the first place.”
“Wow,” Pearl says, at a loss for anything else. As a child, she’d had a game, a simple manner of gathering points before the bad guy caught up. It’d been found on a scavenge, and cleaned up the best they could, but sculk remnants clung to the wiring—a fact discovered hours later. Pearl had been bedridden for weeks.
The scavenges eventually tapered to an end, after the town had grown enough to completely sustain itself. Years later, Pearl had rebuilt the game with Mumbo, and it’s sat in her bedroom since.
Wait. “You said the sculk affected the redstone?” Pearl asks.
“Yeah, the press wasn’t working, which is what led Beef to prying it open and finding the sculk,” Grian says. “It was an old machine; sculk likes the static of old redstone.”
Dread rekindles anew in Pearl’s gut. Each detail that fell askanse in the moment feels all too clear now. “I don’t think,” she says slowly, “that Beef’s case is the only bit of sculk in town.”
Grian’s gaze steels. “Explain.”
Pearl goes over her time with Mumbo earlier, describing the deadbeat redstone, her own nausea, and Grumbot’s apprehension. “I suggested switching to solar, for the time being,” she finishes. “Haven’t heard from him since.”
Grian’s taken to pacing while she talks. Pearl absently gathers papers scattered on the table into a neat stack.
Abruptly, Grian stops. He pulls out his communicator. “We need to get him out of there, now,” he says. “We’re lucky that the lanterns aren’t connected to the grid—the sculk shouldn’t spread as easily, but Mumbo’s gotta get away from it.”
“What can I do?” Pearl asks. With one final, decisive tap, she sets the papers aside. She feels steadier with a task in hand.
“Change your clothes, for one thing,” Grian says. “If you’re contaminated…”
“I’m not,” Pearl says quickly. “I shouldn’t be. It didn’t touch my clothing. My symptoms faded in fresh air.”
“Okay. Then just, keep on at the festival.”
Pearl smiles something wry. “I’m keeping my ‘sole townie with super secret information’ status, now am I?”
“You’re Pearl; it hardly counts.” Grian waves a hand, but meets her eyes in understanding. “Just for tonight, you are. There’ll be an announcement tomorrow morning. It’ll be good to keep spirits high.”
“Okay,” Pearl says. “You’ll be alright?”
“Nothing new with me.” He shrugs. “No breakthroughs, but I’m still here, that counts for something.”
Pearl knows of his frustration. Years spent researching sculk, only for the city he was studying in to collapse in a full-blown flare. Grian had stumbled half-alive into town.
He should’ve died from the infection. He’s the only known survivor. It creeps along his edges, unyielding, aching, preying on a body that refuses to give out.
She’s glad he’s here.
Laying a light hand on his clothed arm, she asks, “Any chance I’ll be seeing you at the festival?”
Grian hesitates. “I’ll try,” he decides after a moment. “It’d be a real shame to pass up on free dessert, anyway.”
“I’ll save you a cupcake,” Pearl says. Her mouth pinches at the corners.
“I knew I could count on you.”
—☾—
The fireworks show is as dazzling as Cub had promised it would be. Circles of gold and showers of blue burst to life high above the plaza and cast sparkling reflections down upon the copper railings. The crowd, adorned with enough flowers in their crowns and chains to be mistaken for a field of them, claps and cheers in jubilant appreciation.
Mumbo’s lanterns float gently through the air, beacons of warm, softly flickering light. There aren’t as many as there were in the workshop—reduced from contamination or lack of time, Pearl doesn’t know. Mumbo’s own absence, however much she expected it, is an anxious ache in her chest. He isn’t the only one missing.
After the fireworks, the music stirs up a jaunty tune, and the centermost ring fills with movement: heels clatter against the cobbled brick as dancers spin between partners and link arms with a new one before being cast back.
Pearl doesn’t join so much as she is roped into the fray, and despite herself, she stomps to the beat and laughs at the joke Ren makes before flinging himself towards False.
Finding Gem is a manner of trading arms and conversation until they’re drawn together. Gem looks lovely with her sprigs of lilacs tucked behind her ears and woven throughout her antlers, and her silver bracelets are a pretty contrast against Pearl’s own gold. The purple of Gem’s long, sweeping skirt brings out the white of her wide grin.
“I love the sunflowers,” she says as they whirl. “They suit you.”
“Not looking too bad yourself!” Pearl says with a grin of her own.
“Skizz helped me with the antlers,” Gem says, gesturing to her head. “He got there eventually, but it was a rough start.”
It’s easy to lose herself in banter with Gem. They swap stories of loose bees and fishing mishaps and debate which of their friends would attempt to arm wrestle one of the harvest bots. They hang onto each other for several songs and part with a shared giggle.
When the soles of Pearl’s flats feel practically worn through, she takes to wandering through the fringes, ducking beneath the pergola for a drink that she quickly abandons to help someone with their unraveling flower crown. She scans the gathering as she deftly reweaves the delicate stems; her search comes up empty. Handing the finished crown back, she sticks around for a few moments longer before plunging back in.
She mingles and she dances and she resolutely ignores any feelings that ooze from the darkest parts of her brain like the stuff of world-ending apocalypses.
They’re here, aren’t they? From the rubble they created a safe haven, survival stalwart enough to warrant a celebration in its name. The strung lights are bright and the flowers are in full bloom; the air is fresh in Pearl’s lungs and she’s certain that any one of the pastries laid out would be delicious if she could will her stomach to accept it.
Time has dilated to something beyond Pearl’s open-handed grasp. Exhaustion tugs at her core. Zedaph is describing his most recent contraption to her, and only half of it is really computing.
She doesn’t notice Tango until he’s right next to her, two cupcakes in hand. His robe has been forsaken for a dashing waistcoat combination, and his bright hair is artfully tousled. He hands one cupcake to Pearl and the other to Zedaph, engaging Zed in an animated conversation that effectively drives them both away from Pearl.
Tango tosses a wink over his shoulder and mouths, ‘break.’ Pearl sighs with a slight shake of her head, and flashes a grateful smile back.
The crowd has thinned, and congregated mostly towards the center of the plaza, leaving many of the benches that curve around its edges empty. Pearl takes a seat on the side of the terrace that best overlooks the town below and rubs a sore spot out of her calf.
Away from the main lights, the stars shine brilliantly overhead, and the moon’s nearly-full glow settles silver upon the expanse of colorful roofs and overflowing greenery in front of her. Amidst the gentle hum of the night and melody of the Festival of Life, Pearl traces the watercolor silhouettes that make up her home.
—☾—
In the last dregs of celebration, when the band is replaced by jukeboxes, after most have retired to bed, Grian appears by Pearl’s bench, sliding into the spot next to her. Wordlessly, she hands him the cupcake from Tango. Through the weariness that weighs down his frame, he grins.
There’s plenty of discussion to make. Pearl’s sure there will be a never-ending stream of it tomorrow.
Pearl soaks in the quiet company and takes a moment to breathe. After a moment, Grian releases a long exhale of his own. Side by side, they sit in silence.

I made a MegaSound fanchild (Fanspawn? Fanspark? Fansparkling???)
Meet Kaon!
Tumblr media
^ Adult Kaon ^
- Megatron was the one who named him (because of course he would be the one to name his offspring Kaon). Soundwave loved the idea.
- No, that visor is not something he can take off, that is his face. His actual face.
- Kaon is obsessed with scavanger birds. His favorite is a big bearded vulture he named 'Steelclaw' that he raised from egg. His obsession with birds probably originates from Soundwave's bond with Laserbeak. Why scavanger birds specifically? That's still a mystery.
(These are bearded vultures, in case you didn't know these amazing birds:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Small concept of Kaon and Steelclaw
Tumblr media
The proportions are off, but I really wanted Steelclaw to be visible on Kaon's hand in this sketch. Because in reality, Steelclaw is like a small parrot to adult Kaon.
- As a sparkling, Kaon was very small and slim, with a very fragile looking frame. But growing up he got stronger, resulting that (combined with other factors), as an adult, Kaon is taller than Megatron, very buff and basically a walking tank.
- His alt mode is a AH-64 Apache helicopter.
- Kaon was born (is that the correct term for transformers? Crafted? Created???) with his voice box damaged, making him completly mute. Therefore, Kaon uses radio signals, music and audio/voice clips to communicate.
Some common sounds Kaon uses and their meaning:
- Disco music/Bird chirping: Very happy, excited.
- Animal hisses/Slammed piano keys: Displeased, annoyed, scared, usually when he doesn't like something.
- Air raid sirens/Strings/Screeches/Recordings of actual cries: Terrified, crying, screaming.
- Static/Mix of corrupted noises: In pain, severely stressed.
- Growls/Engine starting noises: Angry, upset.
- Things Kaon loves:
• Cartoons (Megatron watches MLP with him)
• Scavanger birds (Steelclaw is his main bird, but he also takes care of multiple wild vultures and condors)
• Skulls
• Rubber ducks (he likes the noise)
• Music
• Training
• Soft things (plushies, blankets, fur, feathers)
- Things Kaon hates:
• Medical appointments
• Having to stay in the medbay during long periods of time
• Extremely high-pitched noises
● Very bright lights
• "The dark voice that keeps whispering weird things" (wait, the what now–)
• Zombie/vampire movies (Knockout tried)
- Kaon spends more time with Soundwave for safety reasons, but Megatron tries to be with him as much as possible.
- If Kaon doesn't have a normal face, how does he eats?
Tumblr media
...Yeah.
Speaking of that, this brings me to another Kaon fact. Well, a few, unfunny, facts:
- Due to Megatron's past use of dark energon, Kaon was born with tons of health issues or body anomalies. A list of the main health problems and things that Kaon has as a result of having dark energon in his entire frame since creation are:
○ Constant headaches
○ Seizures
○ Chronic pain
○ Having a Terrorcon mouth
○ Unnatural amount of strenght
○ Damaged voice box since birth
○ Hearing voices
○ Nightmares and visions of things he hasn't even knowledge of
- Megatron hates himself because of this, since it was his use of dark energon that caused Kaon being born with medical problems. He suffers a lot everytime Kaon has to stay on the medbay due to another complication, when someone looks at Kaon with disgust or horror when he has to drink energon or just all the nights Kaon has woken up crying because he is scared or in pain for an unexplained reason.
Tumblr media
- To end this post on a better note, here's a sparkling Kaon I doodled at 2 in the morning because of insomnia:

john price x reader
summary: your husband notices something new.
tags: established relationship, very domestic, fluff!!!, talks about having children, i love him sm 😭
Tumblr media
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
JOHN’S CHEST RISES and falls with each deep breath. You’re on your phone, back pressed to his chest, other hand resting upon his forearm, gently rubbing circles with your thumb. John loved his work, but he loved you more; he always craved being beside you, having you in his arms. The bedroom is quiet, other than a fan running to keep you both cool in the summer heat. “John, look.” You smile, offering him your phone. Just as he’s about to take it, a line on your wrist catches his attention. Slowly, he takes the phone, trying to peer at what was on your skin, yet you moved your hand away as he took it. It was a simple post of a saint bernard puppy, his favourite breed of dog. It makes him smile. “His name is Cash. Isn’t he adorable?” You giggle, rolling over in your husband’s arms to huddle closer to his chest. “Yeah, very.” He hums, handing you your phone back. You’re smiling as you continue scrolling.
Eventually, curiosity gets the better of John, and he gently grasps your wrist, pulling ever so slightly. You glance at him, watching his eyes trace over the tattoo upon your wrist. It was only small, barely noticeable. “When’d you get this?” He asks softly, smiling a little. “A few weeks ago. Do you like it?” You respond, a ghost of a laugh on your voice. It was a small, fluffy bear with a bucket hat on. John’s eyes are bright with amusement. “I love it.” He chuckles, it rumbles in his chest as he lifts your wrist; pressing a kiss over the mark. “Ive been talking about one for a while, and I figured i’d get something of you. To remind me you’re still here even when you’re away.” You explain, letting him run his thumb over your inked skin. “Maybe I should get something of you.” He muses, looking at you.
“I thought you didn’t want tattoos.” You tease, kissing his lips gently as John lowers your wrist once more. “I’d do anything for you.” He mutters, smile creasing his eyes. “Sap.” You chuckle, gently hitting his chest. “What would you get?” You add on, resting your head upon your lover’s shoulder. “A swan, maybe on her phone.” He half-jokes. “A swan?” You giggle, looking at him. “Mhm. They’re beautiful birds, very elegant, very precious too. You’re definitely my swan.” He smiles, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Aw, John.” You croon, cupping his cheek to press a sweet kiss to his lips. “Perhaps you should make a design for me.” John suggests, holding you closer. “Yeah? Maybe I could…” You reply, letting your head rest once more. “Mhm. I’ve seen your little doodles. It would feel more… special, intimate.” He adds on, fingers brushing over yours before tangling between them, he brings your hand up to a soft kiss; focusing upon your ring finger where your wedding band sits.
“I’ll see what I can do.” You respond, smiling brightly. “Good, good. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.” John chuckles, already picturing what little creations you could come up with. “Let’s just hope your boys don’t tease you.” You joke, scrolling through your social media’s once more. “They wouldn’t.” John rolls his eyes playfully. “Mmm… they would.” You smile, kissing his collarbone. John let’s out a soft chuckle. “They’ve been asking about you.” He notes. “Yeah?” You chuckle, looking up at him. “Mhm. It’s all ‘how’s our mama bear?’ and ‘when can we see her again?’ It’s mainly Johnny, you know how he is.” He laughs gently, you smile. “They’re probably the closest we’ll have to kids.” You joke, knowing how fond they were of you. “I think kids would be less difficult.” John grins. “Yeah,” you laugh. “Kids don’t have access to C4.” John lets out a joking groan. “Don’t remind me.” You laugh again, gazing at your husband as the room settles once more. “What..?” He muses, smiling gently at you. “Nothing.” You smile wider, kissing him.
“Nah, somethings up. What?” He muses, hand rubbing your back. “Just… would you want kids? A family?” You ask, pressing your head into his neck. “Of course. We’d have adorable kids.” He chuckles, “They’d look like you, i’m sure.” He adds on. “Yeah?” You smile, squeezing his torso a little tighter. “Yeah. I wouldn’t mind having a few kids with you, doll.” John insists, muscular arms moving around you securely. You giggle softly, snuggling closer. “I love you.” You tell him, chest elated with joy. “I love you more, darling. Get some rest, eh? It’s getting late.” John whispers, kissing the top of your head. “Alright. Good night, John.” You respond, curling closer. “Night, lovely.”

I wanted to join interdimensional hijinks too! And what's the worst best voice to meet their alternate dimension counterpart than Paranoid! They will be staring and hissing at each other for quite a while :]
Tumblr media
Also, I couldn't resist drawing your Cheated, I'm SORRY, he's so fluffy, and I love him so much (resists the urge to grab him and run-)! Also I just find it funny how my Cheated in comparison is the very opposite of fluffy lol
[Just wanted to make some silly doodles of your lads! I love them dearly, can't wait to see finalized refs for your other voices!]
Read left to right
We've got a cat fight- bird fight? We've got some trouble between voices!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It never hurts to share horror stories to your other, alternative self right? Anyways those Paranoids will stop hissing at each other soon...maybe.
((This is so old, those designs are so old I'm sorry it took 2 months??? We blame mummy para, yeah yeah. I still adore how you drew them and floofy you made Cheated <333. You should know the drill, more birds under cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First things first our lovely guests! Your designs are already such amazing lads (both birdman and human) but I'll have to admit Cheated was probably my favorite to draw, he was so spikey but that also made it fun. We don't talk about Para changing style like every panel jksdfhksdfh
Below are some Cheated wing refs I made, I have no idea why I just wanted to do it for my own peace of mind I guess. His wings weren't even spread out in early drafts- the other one is uh. Cold. Just to make sure I could draw him.

Thanks for stopping by and just for everything in general!!! Appreciate you pal <3

Ok, I saw your thing about Gale but you forgot something: Tara!
This tressym wants Gale to find a nice person who loves him; Tara would absolutely notice your interest and affection for her human and would 100% be your wingman (regardless of if you asked her to).
WAIT THIS IS SO CUTE AND YOURE SO FUCKING RIGHT....imagine just like...striking up a friendship with this cool tressym that hangs around Waterdeep. After seeing her around for awhile, sunbathing on various balconies or chasing birds, you splurge and buy a potion of animal speaking. The two of you end up chatting and really hitting it off. Maybe she even invites you to her home, and you, Tara, and Morena start having afternoon tea together. and from there, you start falling in love with this man you've never even met, just from the stories the two of them share with you.
And maybe you help Morena tidy up Gale's tower (with Tara's supervision of course) and fall even further in love with the small things that hint at what sort of man Gale is. Dog-eared pages in well-worn books, little notes left in the margins. Sweets tucked away in desk drawers. Music sheets, alchemical scribblings, to-do lists, doodles. They all paint a picture of this man, and you can't help but imagine what he's really like.
Morena and Tara love Gale and love talking about him, and they definitely notice how starry-eyed you get when he's brought up.
When Gale returns to Waterdeep, you try hard to not be smitten. You would have been over the moon with anyone that walked through the door at this point, but when you see just how handsome he is, your brain nearly shuts down. He's just as clever as his notes had led you to believe, but he's also funny. And charming. And friendly, and kind, and quick-witted, and silly, and gods, you could smell the fading scent of him in his room, but in person it nearly makes you drunk.
You visit often, perhaps more often than before. A lot of times, you'll find that Morena and Tara tend to excuse themselves, leaving you and Gale alone to talk. Or Morena will ask you and Gale to run an errand together. Or Tara will perch on Gale's shoulder and prompt conversations, often about things you and Gale both share a passion for.
After another afternoon tea meeting with the four of you on the terrace, now turned two when Morena and Tara make vague excuses to leave, Gale laughs and shakes his head.
"Those two...surely at this point, they know we've caught on to their little scheme. I do hope it doesn't make you uncomfortable."
You think about playing dumb, but at this point, there's no denying Morena and Tara's less-than-subtle nudges. You laugh too, and promise you don't take any of it seriously.
"You don't?" Gale's eyes shine mischievously as he smiles, "A pity. I must admit, I've found myself to be quite swayed."
You know you must look insane with the way you flounder and stutter and backtrack, but Gale only laughs and places a hand over yours.
"Say, why don't we have dinner tonight, just the two of us?"
You accept quickly and wholeheartedly, and the both of you are pink-cheeked and grinning.
"A restaurant, Mr. Dekarios. Don't go taking such a lovely thing to one of those dingy taverns you frequent."
You both jump and turn to see Tara sitting on the balcony, head held high and tail thwipping happily side to side.

Eddie doesn't have to wait long for Robin to call him. He's chilling on his bed, plunking on the guitar and ignoring homework, when he hears a knock on his door.
"Son? There's a call for you," his uncle says through the closed door. (He'll say it's because he values his nephew's privacy, but they both know it's for plausible deniability.) Eddie is confused at first but then remembers he did give away his number that day, for a very important cause. He puts the guitar to the side and jumps up from the bed.
"Who is it?" he asks upon opening his door, startling his uncle. The man raises his eyebrows at him.
"A girl that's not Chrissy," he says, voice carefully blank and yet calculatingly implying. "Robin from the sex store?"
If she has introduced herself like that, to a random dude's parental figure, he knows she and Chrissy would get along great.
"It's not like that!" He rolls his eyes, before running toward the phone.
"Should I leave?" his uncle yells back.
"No, please, stay so you know it's a civilized conversation between a tutor and her student," he answers with a glare and picks up the receiver. "Hello?"
"Bold of you to assume we're a tutor and student already," comes the snark comment from the other end of the line.
Eddie admits to himself, and only himself, that he might have jumped a bit on this one.
"Sorry, I just had to say something normal to my uncle about the girl from the sex shop," he says pointedly and to her credit, the sex shop girl has the decency to make an apologetic hiss.
"Yeah, sorry about that. Blurting shit out without thinking is my cardinal sin."
He barks out a laugh. Fuck, she is perfect.
"No worries, I'm sure my uncle has heard worse."
"I have," Wayne mutters under his breath while sorting through their laundry nearby. Well, in the cramped trailer space, everything was nearby. Eddie grins at him and his uncle fips him the bird without even looking up. Eddie flips one back.
"I'm assuming your friend passed my message?" he asks, focusing back on the conversation with his soulmate's crush.
"Yeah, he did. But before I agree to anything, I must ask you something."
"Shoot."
"Are you hitting on me?"
Eddie chokes on his tongue.
"No?!" he reacts immediately. He hears her scoff into his ear so he tries to save it. "Not that you're not like, good looking or anything, you're just not my type and I actually really need the tutoring," he says the truth, even if it was just an afterthought in his plan to get closer to her for the wingmaning purposes. "Besides," he pauses, not sure if he should say anything. But something in the way Robin has been communicating so far makes him want to run his mouth without shame as well.
"Besides?" she prompts, slightly annoyed. It's her tone that helps him make up his mind in the end.
"I wouldn't do that to my friend," he says.
The line goes silent. Unnervingly so. Eddie gives her time to gather her thoughts and wonders if it was the wrong thing to say after all. If it was a confession too close to revealing his ulterior motives.
"Hey—"
"Which one?" she asks abruptly, cutting him off.
"Huh?"
"I'm not into your DnD nerds."
Oh, so she did a background check on him. Well, not that there were many metalhead Eddies in Hawkins High. He presses the receiver between his shoulder and ear so he can pop his knuckles. His hands are itching for stimulation; guitar strings, a pen, a joint, anything.
"What about nerdettes?"
His uncle snorts somewhere in the background but Eddie is great and making up words, thank you very much and fuck you, Uncle Wayne, you're uncultured.
"Yeah, that's..." Robin takes a loud, steadying breath. "That's more up my speed."
Eddie is not a quiet person. He finds it difficult not to voice his opinions and his favorite music has been described by some as "angry yelling". So he's very proud of himself for managing a silent little happy dance, even if he almost drops the phone in the process. He can feel his uncle's judgemental eyes on him but completely ignores them.
"Great! I'll pass on the good news to her then." He smiles cockily against the receiver.
"Yeah, uh, you do that." She coughs softly. "So um, am I safe to assume you are scheming to land your friend a date with me?"
"Well..."
"And the fact that I can tutor you, a super senior, while doing it, is just a cherry on top?"
"Super super senior," Eddie corrects her. "But, uh, yeah, you'd be right." Eddie has a feeling they'll get along smoothly. Maybe there was another universe where they were platonic soulmates as well.
"Does tomorrow work for you?"
"Uh, yeah," he says, almost forgetting what the call was supposed to be about.
"Please do not bring your friend," she adds, a slight panic in her voice,
"No of course." He nods furiously, even though she can't see it. "You haven't passed the soulmate's approval yet."
"You guys are soulmates?" she asks, a bit too loud in his ear.
"Uh yeah?"
"Oh my god! Just like Steve and me!"
He blinks into the ether with a frown.
"You guys are soulmates?"
"Duh! I've never met other platonic soulmates before. Do you think we could hang out, the four of us?"
"Uh, yeah, I guess?" He's a little bit lost, a ton ecstatic, but most of all, he wasn't prepared for all of this so he's scrambling for words to find. "I think it would be nice," he offers.
"Great. We can talk it out tomorrow, after school?" she offers and it takes him a moment to understand.
"Oh, yeah," he catches up finally, "The library?"
"Yeah, works for me. See you tomorrow?"
"Yeah, see you tomorrow," he parrots. He listens to her drop one last goodnight before the line goes dead.
Wayne gives him a moment to contemplate on stuff, before walking up to him. He takes the phone from his loose grip and puts it back on the cradles.
"Wanna catch me up?" he asks. It's not demanding, it never is, the way he's heard some parents talk to their kids. It's a genuine offer to get involved in his nephew's life. Eddie's eyes finally focus on him.
"Can I get a beer?"
"Can I get a joint?" Wayne shoots back, making Eddie smile.
"Deal."
They sit around their tiny coffee table, sharing a joint while Eddie catches him up on the events since he and Chris stepped into a random sex shop in the middle of a storm. When he's finished, Wayne hoards the joint with a look of concern in his eyes, despite Eddie reaching out for his turn on the weed.
"Son." His voice turns stern, letting him know it's important and he should listen.
"What?" Eddie whines instead, making one more pathetic flail for the reefer.
"So you meet this guy twice on sheer accident, your soulmates seem to be interested in each other and he has a DnD tattoo, which is something you are very interested in."
"Yeah?" Eddie frowns, completely oblivious to where his uncle is going. He reached out again but the joint was just flying further out of his reach.
"Son. Don't you think the DnD soulmate he's looking for, might be you?" his uncle says bluntly, clearly the weed speaking through him properly.
Eddie shakes his head.
"I don't have the tattoo to match."
"Kid, I will smack you into a different state," Wayne says flatly and seems about ready to act on his threat. "Do they teach you nothing at school?"
"I don't know, I'm not learning anything."
Wayne glares at him while Eddie gives him an innocent smile.
"I knew a guy," he says, the patience for his nephew thin yet endless. "Whose mark complimented his wives. He had a fork and she had a knife."
"You're joking," Eddie says with a delighted smile.
"No," Wayne smiles at him. "They opened a very successful bistro. I also knew a couple who got matching marks after they met."
"That's stupid." Eddie frowns. "How is that supposed to make finding your soulmate easier?"
Wayne shrugs.
"Since when anything in life is easy? Or smart? Or making sense?"
His uncle stares at the wall with that ancient philosopher's gaze and Eddie finally manages to pluck the joint out of his hand.
"Okay, old man, I think that's enough weed for you today."
He doesn't protest and turns to his nephew instead.
"Every relationship is unique, you know? And so are the soulmate bonds."
Eddie knows it's true, but his mind doesn't want to wrap around the possibility suggested here.
"You know what is very unique? A teenager and his uncle indulging in illegal substances on a random afternoon."
Wayne smiles at him, gathering him into a sideways hug.
"Ain't no other family like ours," he agrees. And then promptly breaks the moment by tightening his grip to give Eddie a noogie.
"Ow, no, Wayne! My hair!"
Tumblr media
"I didn't know I booked a double lesson." Eddie raises his eyebrows when he spots not one but two people waiting at the library entrance.
The shrimp in a hat next to Robin snorts.
"Please," he lisps. "I don't need tutoring."
Eddie frowns at the tone of the literal freshman in front of him and watches Robin cross her arms.
"I don't know, kid, your Latin could use some work."
The kid bristles, his hackles rising like an angry cat. It looks very amusing and forces Eddie to bite his lip not to smile.
"I am working on it! Thank you very much!"
"So," Eddie reminds them of his presence. "What is the nerd doing here?" he rephrases his question.
"The nerd," the kid repeats, his tone not offended, but proud, which Eddie can totally fuck with. "Heard you're a Dungeon Master?"
Under all his cockiness and self-confidence, he couldn't hide the excitement and hope. Eddie smiled against himself and gave a small bow.
"Indeed I am. Eddie the Banished, Son of the Moon. At your service."
"Oh my god," Robin groans, while the kid seems about ready to pee his pants from excitement. "Let's go, you nerds, you can talk on the way." She rolls her eyes and turns without looking back. Eddie follows her in the direction of study rooms and the kid trots along next to him.
"I'm Dustin, by the way. A dwarven bard," he introduces himself.
"Dustin?" It rings a bell... "Wait, Steve's freshman friend?"
The kid grins with delight.
"He said we're friends?"
Uh-oh.
"I don't remember what he said exactly," he covers up quickly. "But I do remember he mentioned a party looking for a DM. Are you guys new to DnD?"
The smile he got for that question made him lowkey want to smack the kid and highkey excited to have players he won't have to spend a whole campaign explaining the rules to. He would, if needed, but having seasoned players with their own playing styles he doesn't know yet? That's trouble at the table that he couldn't wait to witness.
Tumblr media
Robin refuses to let Dustin pass through the door professionally labeled (with a black marker on a piece of paper) as a 'student tutoring' room. She puts a hand against his chest when he tries to follow them.
"Listen, Henderson. I promised Steve I'd give this guy a chance..."
Eddie raises his eyebrow at that piece of information.
"And you're going to ruin it if you keep bothering us. Do you want Steve to be disappointed?"
Dustin frowns at her and the arm holding him back. He swats it away but doesn't pass the threshold.
"That's blackmail," he huffs, crossing his arms.
"That's facts," Robin corrects him. "Go bother someone else. Eddie already agreed to play with you."
"But there's so much to discuss beforehand!" the boy protests. Eddie decides to throw him a bone. Mostly because he really needs to bring that wingmanning to a satisfying end.
"Can you come to our table tomorrow? I'll introduce you to Hellfire guys and we can talk out some details then."
Dustin immediately lights up.
"Can my friends come too?"
"Of course, man. Gotta test your vibe."
"Okay! Tomorrow at lunch!" He jumps up on the balls of his feet, slowly retracing backward.
"Yeah, bud. See you then."
"See you! I'll show you the characters I've been working on!"
"You really don't have to—"
But he was already gone. Eddie sighs as Robin slams the door shut and falls against them with a groan.
"He's so exhausting," she complains. "Smart as hell, a great kid, but so exhausting."
Eddie chuckles.
"Yeah, I can see that. How are you guys even friends?" he asks curiously. But Robin shakes her head, pushing herself away from the door.
"Nuh-uh. You're not getting the backstory yet. Spanish first, chit-chat later."
Right. Studying. The bane of Eddie's existence.
Robin manages only half an hour of his stupidity (foreign-language-rejecting brain, she called it, but he'll keep calling it stupidity) before announcing a break.
She rests her head against her arms, blocking out the light, while Eddie runs through the million topics on his mind that he could start. Apparently, he stares at her hair long enough for her to notice it.
"Just say what's on your mind, man," she mumbles against the textbook.
"Did Steve really ask you to help me out?" This was not what he intended to ask, and certainly not what he was there for, but it was already out.
Robin lifts her head slightly.
"Yeah. He seems weirdly fond of you," she answers with her eyes narrowed like it was somehow his fault her friend was acting weird.
Eddie shrugs, thinking of a reasonable explanation.
"Maybe he's hoping to find his soulmate if he keeps befriending DnD nerds," he offers.
She snorts. It feels like she's laughing at him, though. He frowns.
"Yeah. Speaking of soulmates, though..." She straightens up, suddenly nervous. "I think. And I might be wrong. But it felt similar with Steve, so I'm like, eighty percent sure..."
"Dude, just spill it."
Robin scrunched her nose.
"I have a feeling about Chrissy."
"Okay?" Eddie frowns. "I mean, that's why I'm here, right? To help you guys out?"
She shakes her head.
"No, like... A soulmate feeling."
Eddie's eyes go wide.
"For real?"
She nods.
"I mean, at least I think so."
"Well, you have something to compare it to, so I will trust your judgment," he reassures her. Only then do the meaning of her words hit him, and his eyes go wide. "Holy shit! You're Chrissy's soulmate!"
"Probably," Robin rushes in to add. "She didn't say anything about it, did she?" She's adamant about not getting her hopes up. If she was the only one who felt it, maybe it was a false alarm. Maybe she had eaten something bad earlier that day.
"No," Eddie admits with a twist of his mouth. "But she's not good at picking up this stuff. We had been friends for a month before we realized we were bonded."
That does make her feel better. She was the first to pick up on her bond with Steve as well, so maybe it was simply a Robin thing.
"But she's uh, she's interested, right?" she asks to clarify. It feels awkward but still a little less intimidating to have the buffer of her crush's best friend than talking to her directly.
"She literally wouldn't shut up about you." Eddie grins at her. "Yesterday she dragged me to your store and was very disappointed not to find you there." Which, thinking of, reminds him of Steve. He frowns. "Did you tell Steve? Because I was positive for awhile, that he was hitting on Chris."
"No, I—"
Eddie slams his hand on the table, interrupting her.
"You sent him to spy!" He points at her accusingly. "He was asking about Chrissy for you!"
She shrugs, crossing her arms to give him a deadpan stare despite her fiercely red cheeks.
"Yeah. And what are you doing right now?"
Eddie grins. Oh, he likes her.
"Touche," he nods his head. "So, about that date..."
Tumblr media
They agree on a date next weekend, and in the meantime, Eddie dusts off an old campaign of his. A one-shot to make sure he'll even want to play with a bunch of kids. Betwee them and the Hellfire guys there's more than enough players, but Dustin asks if he can invite Steve too.
"I don't invite an audience into game sessions," Eddie tells him with a frown. He's gathering their character sheets to know what he'll be dealing with.
"As a player!" Dustin corrects him. "I've been trying to get him to play with us forever and since it's a one-shot maybe he'll finally cave."
Eddie makes a face.
"I'm not taking in a newbie with all seasoned players," he protests.
"But he knows everything about the game! Because of his soulmate?" Dustin reminds him like he's stupid. And he kind of is, because it should be hard to forget trivia.
"Uh, right." He scratches his cheeks. "Fine, I guess. But I want his character sheet pronto."
At that, Dustin digs deeper into his bag to retrieve another sheet of paper from between the pages of his math textbook. Eddie groans.
"Are you kidding me? You little shit." But he takes Steve's character sheet from him. Dustin grins widely, satisfied with himself.
"Just this once," he assures. "Well, unless he likes it."
Eddie huffs, offended.
"He's gonna love it. I'm a great DM."
"I'm sure you are and I'm sure he will. This Friday?"
"3 PM sharp." Eddie points at him.
"Aye aye," Dustin salutes, backing away towards the school crowd and inevitably running into some kid. Not for the first time, and probably not the last one either, Eddie wonders how someone like Henderson got himself involved with Steve Harrington.
Tumblr media
Friday comes fast and Eddie is excited to have new players at his table again. Some idiots have been spreading shitty rumors about the game lately, so the interest has been scarce. And now he has three innocent freshmen at his table. And Steve Harrington.
He looks out of place between nerdy freshmen and metalheads. In Eddie's personal opinion, he even smells too well to be there. But he won't deny someone who wants to play. So he sets the scene and lets the dice roll.
It started in a tavern but with a twist. The party heard a couple of leads and depending on which one they chose, it would lead to the proper adventure or immediate trouble. To everyone's surprise, when one of the NPCs stops talking, Steve is the one to speak up.
"He's lying. It's a trap."
"How do you know?" Mike, one of the freshmen, bristles.
Everyone raises their eyebrows at Steve, who shrinks in his seat.
"Uh, a hunch?"
It's a very spot-on hunch and the party is right to listen to him.
The game proceeds and Eddie is enjoying himself, much like everyone else around the table. Well, maybe except for Steve. The further they went into the game, the quieter he got.
"Pee break!" Eddie announces around the halfway point and everyone scatters to use the bathroom, refill on snacks, or smoke. He's about to stop Harrington from leaving, but he sees him saying something to Dustin with a smile, his ass firm on the chair. And soon, there's only two of them left.
"You okay, man?" he asks without preamble. "If you don't like it I can kill off your character and you can go home," he offers. Usually, he would be meaner about it, but he's seen how much the guy means to Dustin. And to Robin. And Robin means a lot to Chrissy and Chrissy means a lot to him, and so the circle closes. He's not going to be mean to Steve Harrington. He doesn't even want to.
Instead of taking the out, Steve asks him a question.
"Is Bernard the traitor?"
Eddie smirks. Maybe Steve was more invested than he seemed.
"I'm not answering questions like that, man. It's DM confidential."
Bernard was, in fact, a traitor.
"He's leading them to the monster as an offering, isn't he?"
"What?" Eddie frowns. Did he read his notes somehow?
"He's killed his father that way too."
That... That wasn't in the notes. Eddie didn't write it down, it was an irrelevant backstory only for him to know.
"Did you write the story?" Steve asks, his brown eyes piercing.
Eddie licks his lips and nods stiffly. He looks at Steve's hand instinctively, having a hunch of his own on how this story unfolds.
Steve stands up and Eddie's eyes follow, for the first time studying him properly, how he deserves. His stupid preppy polo, his perfect hair, and the moles on his cheek. He raises his hand, the D20 tattoo on display.
"Shake my hand?"
Eddie sighs.
"Wayne's gonna beat up my ass," he murmurs before grabbing the offered hand.
He lets out an undignified yelp and Steve lets go immediately, shock on his face. It was just a millisecond sting, nothing else, followed by an electric sensation across his body. He looks at his palm, at the point where their bodies just touched.
There is a matching dice tattoo on his skin.
He shakes the dice experimentally. It rolls and lands on fourteen. Then ten. He looks up to find Steve's eyes on him, sparkling.
"What happened?!" Lucas suddenly bursts in, probably alerted by Eddie's yell. Dustin crowds in behind him, pushing in, and Jeff peeks curiously over their heads. But before Eddie can even start to explain anything, Dustin starts screeching.
"Oh my god! Are you guys soulmates?! You're soulmates! Oh my god, that's so cool! Holy shit Steve! I knew you'd get along!"
"Dude," Steve scolds him softly. Dustin deflates just a bit but he's still jumping.
"Guys," Eddie speaks up, surprised to even find his voice. "Five more minutes?" He looks up for support from Jeff, who gives him a nod and pulls the rowdy freshmen out of the room. The door closes and he has to pay attention to Steve again. He looks back at him and finds his face carefully blank.
"Disappointed?" he asks, making Steve recoil.
"What? Why would I... What?"
Eddie shrugs.
"It's fine if I'm not what you expected. You're not what I imagined either."
Chrissy was a surprise, so he assumed if there was another soulmate out there for him, they would be more like him. He usually pictured another metalhead, maybe a hot guitarist, a fantasy writer, or a hot groupie obsessed with his music. A preppy guy living a quiet life in Hawkins? Not in a million years.
Steve shrugs back.
"Robin isn't what I imagined either, but we work. I don't even know you, so how can I be disappointed?"
"Touche." Eddie grimaces. "Let's hang out sometime so we can speed up the process."
Steve rolls his eyes but takes a small step towards him. Eddie lets him grab his hand and compare the matching tattoos on their palms. They were nearly identical, but with closer scrutiny, he could see the lines on Steve's were softer than on his.
"We could make this weekend a double date if the girls agree."
"Uh, I don't know..."
But before he can elaborate, Steve's eyes widen, and his grasp on Eddie's hand tightens minutely.
"Shit, I just assumed you're into guys. I did that with Robin too, I'm so sorry." He's pulling his hand away, face red with embarrassment, but Eddie catches his fingers.
"Uh, no, I am. Both girls and dudes. You just... you know."
"Don't look the type?" Steve raises his eyebrow with amusement.
"Not exactly," Eddie admits sheepishly. "Okay." He exhales. "Double date, huh? Yeah, I can do that." He nods mostly to reassure himself. Steve smiles and squeezes his hand gently before easing away from his grip. The noise behind the door was getting louder, meaning everyone was back from the bathroom break and seconds away from stomping in.
"Great. I always thought your eyes are beautiful," Steve says just before the party reenters the room.
It's a lot of yelling and explaining before they can resume the game. It becomes the most unhinged playthrough Eddie has ever witnessed due to everyone making the most outrageous decisions to throw off Steve's omnipotence and make Eddie come up with lore and plot on the spot.
When they are gathering their stuff a couple of hours later, he's exhausted in the best way.
Steve lingers, almost kicking Dustin out of the door. He even throws him the keys to the car, something he never does, but Eddie doesn't know that. He helps him gather his notes and figurines, which he doesn't protest like he would with others. They would snoop but what's the point in snooping when you already know the whole plot?
"That was fun," Steve admits as he hands Eddie the character sheets. "It's a boomer I can't enjoy the story since I already know everything."
Eddie lets out a soft hum while arranging the papers in his bag in a way they won't get damaged.
"Gareth's been wanting to DM for a while. It would be nice to take a break once for a change and you could play without getting the plot spoilered," he offers.
"I'd like that." Steve smiles. Eddie grins at him.
"Okay! I think that's all," he says, looking around for any misplaced dice. "Thanks for helping me out. These bastards always make a run for it as soon as we're done."
"You just don't want them touching your stuff," Steve points out, following him to the door as he fishes out the keys to close behind them.
"That's true, yeah."
Steve hovers behind him while he closes up and Eddie decides to spare him the awkwardness.
"You can go, I still have to give these back to the janitor. I'm sure Henderson is itching to take your car for a spin in the parking lot."
Steve straightens up at the reminder.
"Shit, yeah. I better go to him." He runs his hand through his hair, hesitating for one last moment. "See you tomorrow?"
Eddie almost forgot their double date is this Saturday, but he nods at him.
"Yeah, see you." He's about to turn around and go their separate ways when Steve leans in.
It's just a soft brush of his lips on his cheek, but Eddie's body immediately sets on fire.
"See you," throws Steve softly before leaving.
Eddie tightens his grip on the strap of his bag. The keys are digging into the meat of his palm, into the new tattoo there.
"Oh my god."

Captain underpants characters as things that happened to me at school
George - Being forced to write lines in detention but getting super bored so I tried to hold as many pens as physically possible in one hand and write with them all at once which only made the handwriting even more atrocious than it already was so I had to write the lines all over again
Harold - Teacher asking me "how can you be so good at drawing but have such awful handwriting?"
Melvin - My classical studies teacher calling me a nerd and telling me to go away and talk to my friends because I was annoying her with how much I was yapping about the field trip we were going on (classical antiquity was my hyperfixation at the time and I was a bit over-excited to learn)
Mr. Krupp - Teacher forcing me to go through my entire workbook with correction fluid and whiteout every single little drawing and doodle I'd done in it. She wasn't even my teacher.
Captain Underpants - Playing around with my chair in class and SOMEHOW ending up getting my head and arms stuck in the gap between the seat and the backrest so the teacher had to physically pull me out of it
Professor Poopypants - When I was literally BLEEDING out of a big cut on my arm during a science exam and my science teacher made me wait until after the exam was finished to go to the nurse so my test paper had a bunch of blood stains on it (and I failed anyway so what was even the point)
Edith - My friend trying to do the cup song with a pottle of yogurt at lunchtime and when she smacked it on the ground it exploded and we all got covered in yogurt
Kipper - Getting in a fight with a classmate and giving him a black eye so the school called my parents and when I got home my dad was like "Did you give some kid a black eye today?... Good on you! I'm so proud of you" (I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE BTW i was like 10 when this happened)
Ms. Ribble (before she became nice) - Random teacher I didn't even know screaming at me and taking a photo of me on his phone without my permission just because I was wearing a bracelet
Mr. Meaner - The whole class trying to figure out how old our teacher was by asking evasive questions and someone asked "how old were you when they landed on the moon?" to which she replied; "Oh you guys don't really believe they landed on the moon, do you?" so we spent the next 30 minutes arguing with her about whether or not the moon landing was fake
Ms. Calculator - Teacher laughing at me and calling me stupid in front of the whole class because I answered a math question wrong
Harold (again) - Teacher throwing my workbook at me because I drew a picture of a bird on one page
George - Getting told off for feeding the seagulls at lunchtime and attracting a huge crowd of like 80 seagulls into the courtyard
Captain Underpants - Learning how to make balloon animals for an art class project so I decided to practice in the library one day during my free period but it was super quiet so in the near silence of the library you could just hear the sound of balloons squeaking and my friends desperately trying not to piss themselves with laughter
