love (you), actually
Evan was standing in front of his door with a stack of white poster board in his hands, the first one saying 'Tell them it's carol singers.'
It's two months after the breakup, and Tommy opens the door to the romantic experience he's been waiting for his whole life
because tommy is our resident romcom lover and he deserves his moment! also s/o @bibibievansbuckley because this was born from one of our very late night ramblings because all we know at this point is tevan
wc: 2187, below the break and also on ao3
The knock at the door draws Tommy out of his thoughts.
He was sitting in his living room, doing the only thing he really felt like doing these days: watching romcoms. Today’s pick was Notting Hill and he didn’t even have enough energy to stop himself from putting himself as Hugh Grant and Evan Buck as Julia Roberts.
It was weeks since he walked out of that loft for the first time and he didn’t know what to do with himself. He knew it was stupid, in hindsight, the entire night almost reads like a fever dream. They were supposed to be going on a date and Tommy left heartbroken and empty.
Really, he should have reached out by day two, maybe ask Buck to coffee like he did all those months ago but he couldn’t do it. He asked him to move in and Tommy basically took a sledgehammer to the idea and nuked his own heart in the process.
Day ten was when he dragged himself back to therapy. At the time, he didn’t know why his gut reaction was to tell Buck no, but now, he realised it was self-preservation. Years of pent-up trauma were cause to this, especially from hearing that ‘my first isn’t going to be my last’ from not one, but two of the boyfriends he had in the years since he’d moved to Harbour.
And then he threw those words right back into Buck’s face. Evan, the human embodiment of sunshine and a golden retriever, who stumbled over his words but managed to ask him to move into the loft (the fucking loft, which ends up being a 10 minute rant with his therapist because why in the hell would tommy move into a loft when he owns a house, what would they do with the cars, his Muay Thai set up, the garden that’s finally starting to look decent in his backyard-, he found some more underlying issues there as well, but also was told that particular thread was not his fault) and Tommy felt like someone had poured ice water on him.
He’d seen this path before, only twice but two times is enough to leave a mark. The first time was probably enough as well, but the second time just dug a knife again into a wound that had just barely healed. So he did what he thought was best: act proactively. If he got ahead of the problem, if he got away from Evan before he could fall in love, then maybe it wouldn’t be as disastrous.
How absolutely wrong he was.
It felt so bad when he was walking away that he genuinely considered the possibility that it would have hurt less if he and Evan were living together for months and then they broke up.
He wanted to go back, apologise, tell him he didn’t mean it but- Buck said he admired him. And it was those words that were on replay as he drove himself home.
He admired him. Tommy, the guy who was so scared about being gay that at age 30, he was engaged to a woman. Tommy, who gave his heart out to the world because he wanted to feel like he was in Love, Actually, that he had someone who wanted him back just as fiercely and was sorely let down every time.
So he let himself down this time. Better that than be hurt by Evan. Of course, by doing it this way, he hurt himself and Evan, but he could bounce back. He was young, and your first isn’t your last.
It took two different sessions to beat that idea out of him.
Sometimes, your first isn’t your last. But sometimes it also is. It just depends on when you find your person.
Tommy found his person. He just didn’t realise it until he nuked the entire relationship.
Two months later, he still didn’t reach out, not really sure where to even start. Evan didn’t reach out either, so maybe it was just a case of right person, wrong time.
That was fine, Tommy could just imagine him in every romcom he watched.
There was another knock at the door, this one a little more insistent.
Right, the door. Tommy stood up, running a hand through the mess of curls on his head. Evan had liked them, was always sad when he cut his hair or weighed it down with gel. In the initial weeks of the breakup, he couldn’t find it in himself to get it cut, and then eventually he started to like the curls. Now they were here to stay.
He opened the door and was not at all ready to see Evan Buckley on the other side.
Two months had passed, and he still looked gorgeous. He looked tired; there was stubble along his jaw, bags under his eyes that were more prominent than he’d ever seen, even after a rough round of 48s for a week. His hair was curly, like he had the same idea Tommy did about letting it grow out. His eyes were still their clear blue, albeit a little sad but dancing with something else- hope maybe? He was wearing the hoodie he recognised from that first coffee date (so that’s where it went) and was holding poster board-
What?
Evan was standing in front of his door with a stack of white poster board in his hands, the first one saying, ‘Tell them it’s carol singers.’
Tommy blinked. “Ev- Buck, there’s no one el-”
He shook the stack hard, giving a pointed look down at the cards before back up at him. There was a speaker set down next to him and the boards in hand... The entire scene felt familiar.
There was no way-
Evan wanted him to play along, he’d play along. He looked back over his shoulder, to the TV that still had Julia Roberts on screen. “It’s carol singers.”
He turned back to Evan, who has fiddling with his phone until music began pouring out of the speaker. Silent Night started playing and Tommy felt tears prick the corner of his eyes.
He knew this scene by heart.
Evan dropped the first card, the second one reading ‘I’m sorry.’
He opened his mouth to speak, Evan didn’t need to be sorry, Tommy was sorry, but another look from him promptly shut him up. He nodded, Evan smiling back.
The card dropped. ‘It’s been over 2 months since you walked out of my loft.’
‘So I’m saying sorry and I’ll say it again.’
‘Sorry for jumping right to moving in without properly talking.’
‘And saying to move into the loft (that was stupid, you have a house, we’re at your house).’ He let out a laugh at that, and got another smile out of Evan.
This was really happening. Holy shit, Evan was standing in front of his house in the middle of August, blaring Silent Night from his speaker and holding up cards to give a whole silent speech.
It was Love, Actually in real life. For him. Evan was doing this for Tommy.
Tears were rolling down his face now, and he hastily wiped them away to read the next one.
‘I’m sorry I didn’t reach out sooner.’
‘Or talk things out better.’
‘And I know you’re thinking that I’m saying sorry too much, and that you’re also sorry.’
He was, he so very was. And the look in Evan’s eyes told him he knew, he saw it.
‘I know you are, and I forgive you.’ He met his eyes again, mouthing a very watery ‘I forgive you, too.’
Evan had tears in his eyes as well, as he smiled back and mouthed ‘I know.’
He itched to move closer, to pull him back into his arms, to hold him. But Evan still had a stack in his hands, and Tommy was touched and curious and seen.
‘I know ‘admire’ wasn’t the right word to say back then.’ He sucked in a breath, remembering the whole speech vividly.
‘Even though I do admire how you got to where you are now.’
‘I don’t admire you, Tommy Kinard.’
‘I love you.’
Tommy let out a sob then, knees almost buckling as he clutched the doorframe with one hand to stay upright. Evan loves him.
He moved to take a step forward, but Evan took one back, shaking his head even though he looked like he wanted nothing more than to be closer to Tommy as well. He still had more to say.
Tommy nodded, letting the tears run freely down his face. Evan loves him.
The next card was full of writing and Tommy could barely read all of it. It was numbered though, and when Tommy dragged his eyes across it (cleft, Muay Thai, hands, beer knowledge...) the last number went to 50.
50 things Evan loved about him.
The card dropped and Tommy almost thought it was a repeat until he saw the last number.
100.
His jaw dropped, a broken sob leaving him.
Evan wrote out a list of 100 things he loves about him. About Tommy.
He ran because he was scared, that Evan was jumping the gun by asking him to move into the loft, that he didn’t actually love him, that he was just a place holder until he went and found something better.
But here was Evan, standing here in the middle of August with cards that listed out 100 things he loved about him, reenacting his favourite movie of all time. For him.
‘I love you, Tommy Kinard.’ A fresh wave of tears flowing from both of them.
‘And for the love of God, please call me Evan.’
“Evan, please can I move now?” He whispered, watching as he dropped the last board and stood there, almost sheepishly.
Silent Night was still playing on loop, and Evan was standing there in his hoodie, and he’d never looked more perfect in his life.
He nodded, and that was all Tommy needed before he went rushing forward, wrapping his arms around him tight.
To his credit, Evan only stumbled back a step, his own arms immediately circling around Tommy’s waist.
It’d been two months too long. He wanted this every day. He wants this for the rest of his life.
Tommy didn’t believe in soulmates, not really. He didn’t believe that there was someone out there with the other half of his soul. But then Evan showed up in life on a hurricane and everything afterwards just felt so right, like he was missing something before Evan came in.
Evan was his person, through and through. He didn’t just love Tommy, he knew him. He knew that he was a romantic at heart, the soft soul he kept hidden away, and came out with the biggest romantic gesture anyone had ever done for him.
“Thank you,” he whispered into Evan’s curls, feeling his arms tighten to pull him impossibly closer.
“I love you.” He said it like a promise, a prayer, and Tommy melted. He pulled away just enough to look Evan in the eye. His face was splotchy and red with tears and Tommy had no doubt that he looked the same, if not worse.
Evan Buckley loved him.
He pressed their lips together, hard and desperate and passionate. Evan kissed him back like a man starved, and if he had any doubts about how he felt even after the board display, he didn’t have any now.
They pulled apart to take a breath, and Tommy stared at his face. The one he knew by heart, the one he knew no amount of time would ever make him forget.
“I love you.” The smile he received was blinding.
Once it’s out in the open, it’s all he can say. It’s all he wants to say.
He pulled Evan into the house, casting a look back at the speaker and the large pile of cards still sitting on the walkway up to the door.
Evan brought him back into a kiss the second the door closed. His hands tangled in his curls, pulling Tommy down just a hair. This one was less desperate, and Evan was guiding him over to the couch.
He fell back first, Evan settling on top of him. He broke away for only a moment, whispered “I love you” against his lips before diving back in again.
This is the conversation they should have had two months ago. Tommy’s felt this way since the hospital wedding, hell, maybe even before then.
And if the way Evan kissed him said anything, then he wasn’t alone in that feeling either.
He pulled away this time, staring into Evan’s blue eyes as his thumb ghosted over his birthmark. There wasn’t a need for anymore conversation right now, Tommy will make sure to give his own apology later.
But right now, with Evan as a comforting weight on top of him, a smile on his face as he moved impossibly closer into his touch, there was only one thing that needed to be said.
“I love you.”

every now and then i get obsessed with the idea of getting the 90s hugh grant hairstyle. like notting hill. maybe a bit longer, like westley in the princess bride. but i want it so bad. but then i want a mustache and i think, sigh. i'm not really tall enough to pull any of this off. if only i were tall then i'd probably be a man. but my therapist is trying to stop me having a nervous breakdown every time i speak to someone in public so she doesn't have time to unpack what all this means

Reaction to RWBY Crew Commentary V9
Alright, as is tradition at this point, got my copy of the Blu Ray so let's get started.
Okay, first of all, before I even hop into the commentary, I love that the title screen for the menu is Ruby falling through that mural in the OP. That is... That is so cool man! Whoever thought of that... I love you. You're a genius.
So we start off with Kerry, Eddy, Laurie (hope I spelled that right). And addressing how they had to work mostly from home on this volume and the challenges that caused.
Yeah, quick reunion was the right call. I mean, we did the Team RWBY split for two volumes (4 and 5) and then again in V8. Don't keep the girls apart again.
Little origins! Give me! Someone that starts how Ruby started...
I mean... yeah, I assumed Ruby knew about Penny from Weiss. Like... duh.
Same peeps for episode 2 but also with Paula? Again, I hope I heard that right.
Return of Blake the Book Nerd.
Yang and Blake kind of dig the Ever After, Weiss hates it, and Ruby is lost in her thoughts.
Luci improvised Little's little song.
Oh, Yang might still think this is a dream so nothing here matters... That's an idea. Everyone grieves differently...
Man I love Weiss in this episode.
"We can't have her be the butt of every joke." .... I want to see what they cut.
Episode 3! We've picked up Conner, Dustin, and Kiersi! Lost Laura and Paula.
The animation is so good man.
Putting away depression to help her friends.
Prince Trauma(TM)
Neo Scary.
Episode 4. Kerry, Eddy, Miles and Dustin.
Curious talk.
Self critic!
"She learned her lesson in the end, right?" "Oh, I'd certainly say so."
"If there's something Ruby can blame herself for, do it!"
"Cat wanted to scope out which one of the girls was weakest."
Shout out to the VAs!!
Chapter 5: Kerry, Eddy, Paula, Kiersi!
Cat is dismissive of WBY. Focuses only on Ruby.
The Blacksmith: The Ever After itself is now reaching out to Ruby.
Walking the line between the audience knowing that Ruby needs help and WBY not quite understanding how bad it is.
Making sure the emblem wasn't on Ruby's model after was a pain.
"Oh no, he's hot."
Episode 6: Kerry, Eddy, Yssa, Laura.
The difference between Jaune having already lived for many years with this guilt in the Ever After and RWBY who are still fresh.
How protective Kerry is of the Bee scene is amazing.
There was an idea that the vision Alyx saw was that she saw that someone in her party was going to keep her from returning home, and it ultimately is herself before the Cat kills her.
Ya'll have already seen other posts about Kerry and crew's thoughts on the Bee scene and what it means for the Yang and Blake so I won't go into all that because, yeah, can't say it better.
"They were actually in front of each other the whole time." Excuse me!
"Now she has to step up again." ....Ow.
Episode 7: Kerry, Eddy, Miles, Dustin? I think that's what I heard.
How the meeting went: "Well he can't have been doing nothing, that would be really disappointing." *Beat of silence* "Oh, that would be really disappointing." Evil geniuses.
Stuck in the pattern of trying to be the hero. Both incredibly busy and doing nothing.
"He's more lost than ever."
Fighting on a hill. I'd never considered the complications of that either.
Miles and Lindsey kill this scene man. It's so good.
Episode 8 (oh boy): Kerry, Eddy, Miles, Paula, Kiersi.
Had to cut an episode due to scheduling and budget. Scary to have to rework that.
Mad Hatter's Tea Party.
The flowers on the Tea Cups are Forget-Me-Nots.
Imposter Syndrome.
Neo landed on the Brother's Acre.
"Neither one of them won that fight." Neo and Ruby.
Episode 9: Kerry, Eddy, Yssa, Dustin, Kiersi.
Blacksmith is a therapist.
Weiss is the best, true.
What do the characters want?
Episode 10: Kerry, Eddy, Yssa, Kiersi, Dustin.
Aw, their kids contributed some of the background drawings for Yang and Ruby's room.
Furious Cat.
"She's the self that chose herself." "She emerges herself but different."
"I'm so happy." I love how much they love this show.
"How do we not redeem her but give her this sort of neutral path?"
Oh man, I'm tearing up before Somewhat even shows up.
Somewhat is no longer defined by having one purpose.
Dude, they keep talking about not wanting this to be filler so they had the backstory of the Brothers but I will always stand by that if the characters learn and grow as people then it will never be filler. So from the beginning this was never going to be filler.
"One small kindness, in one small moment, led to such a marvelous transformation." That line always destroys me.
Whelp, that's a wrap on the commentary for V9. Now... we wait.

A rare visit to the Gate Cinema, Notting Hill, to see The King’s Speech, the story of how the speech therapist Lionel Logue, about whom I wrote in Kings, Queens and Courtiers, cured King George VI of a stammer that mingled pity and embarrassment in all who heard him on public occasions. As in so many films about historical events, particularly about the Royal Family, accuracy has been sacrificed to drama. A grotesque portrait of Churchill.

Fic writer questions - 23, 24, 35, 49, 50 if you like!
23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?
Oo, hmm. I want to do a more grounded suburban fantasy along the lines of stranger things. I’ve had one of those rolling around in my head for a little while now.
24. Are there any easter eggs in [insert fic], and if so, what are they?
You didn’t name a fic so let’s go with “burn, brand my memory.” [haladriel modern au | M | 6.7k | 1/1]
“This way,” she says at last, leading him to the Ks.
The book Halbrand buys is The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, which is where my AO3 name comes from.
“You feel more like a scar.”
This is a reference to the song It’s Okay by Land of Talk.
“I keep having this dream,” she says, releasing a long drag, “where I’m drowning. And I can’t close my mouth, I can’t move my body— all I can do is scream and let the water fill my throat.”
This is a reference to the song Funeral by Phoebe Bridgers.
“This is me.” She nods toward a small terraced house with a cobalt door.
I imagined Lindon as the titular neighborhood from Richard Curtis’ film Notting Hill.
“Because, honey, ” he sighs, automatically brushing them away with his thumb, “you deserve to be happy.”
This is a reference to the song You Could Be Happy by Snow Patrol.
It is so much better than a memory.
This is a reference to the Kerrigan-Lowdermilk song Freedom from the musical The Mad Ones.
“It never went away, not even for a second.”
This is inspired by a monologue from the play Crave by Sarah Kane.
35. What aspects of your writing are completely unlike your real life?
Mostly the mean men and overall toxicity. I’ve been married to a really wonderful guy for almost four years, and we’ve been together for a decade. Shout out to our therapist, our relationship feels so fucking healthy.
49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!
I’m currently working on museum chapter 13, bitym chapter 14, and with hands chapter 7, along with a few haladriel one shots and a darklina cult themed fic set in the 70s. I won’t say which one this is from.
The rhythmic shuffle begins again, the cards falling from one palm to the next with a gentle patter, not unlike a light rain on a sloped roof. She is an insignificant part of the process, merely serving as a conduit through which energy and spirit may freely move. Her primary function is interpretation.
50. Answer any question of your choice.
I’ll do this one:
43. If you take/write prompts: what’s your favorite prompt fic that you’ve written?
Without a doubt, it’s at the museum, with you across the way.

bluebird cafe ! ( closed for — @indylahiri ! )
"no way!" evanie's palms slapped at the table as she leaned over her milkshake, strawberry flavoured. "you're kidding me. honestly, your job is wild—the craziest thing i have to deal with is drunk men falling off of barstools or shoes being left behind. seriously. you'd think notting hill has an epidemic of cinderellas, given how many single heels we find when we close." both indy and evanie's jobs required them to be nurses, mothers, cleaners, therapists... although they were two opposite sides of the coin, there was enough to bond over.

The Link between Psychotherapy and Improved Sleep Patterns
Quality sleep is the cornerstone of good mental and physical health. However, for many individuals struggling with depression and other mental health issues in Notting Hill, achieving a restful night's sleep can be a daunting challenge.
This is where psychotherapy, particularly in the context of Notting Hill, comes into play as a powerful tool for addressing sleep problems. In this blog, we'll explore the significant connection between psychotherapy and improved sleep patterns in the vibrant community of Notting Hill.
1. Understanding the root causes of sleep problems
Psychotherapy in Notting Hill offers a safe and supportive environment for individuals to delve into the underlying causes of their sleep disturbances. It allows them to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be contributing to their insomnia or disrupted sleep. Through therapy, individuals can identify and address issues like anxiety, stress, and unresolved trauma, which are common culprits behind sleep difficulties.
2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I)

ASK MEME / HONESTY WEEK!
what’s holding you back in life? (astrid)
"ugh, nothing major, i guess sometimes i worry that my content isn't good enough, compared to what other people post. then i start overthinking, i need to stop doing that and just post what i want".
is there anything you regret? (emi)
"course i've got regrets, doesn't everyone? i guess, i regret the way things ended with a certain person, it was a shame. but we're working on things now" (@drcamland)
how do they tell someone they’re sorry? (jay)
"shit, i'm not very good at saying sorry, but i'm working on it with my therapist. if i've had an argument with someone, i try to take some space, calm down and then say sorry".
how does your muse express romantic love ? how do they feel about love as a concept ? (clara)
clara loves love, she's all for it, she's a big softie at heart. she will go out of her way to show love to her husband, she likes buying him gifts and spoiling him, he doesn't have to do anything, clara is javier's number one fan!! (@drcamland)
is your muse prone to jealousy ? how might they handle envious feelings ? (milo)
oh yep! he can be very jealous when he wants to be and milo's not very good at handling those feelings. he's a spoiled little rich boy, what do you expect? milo always has to have the coolest / best things, things that no one else has, or else he'll kick off.
what would a ‘ happy life ’ look like in your muse’s eyes ? (rowan)
"hm, i'd like to be working, as an actress, full time. still living in notting hill, with maverick and seeing my family regularly, so not much different to now really" (@urbnlgnds)

Couples Massage in Notting Hill — Thai Angels Notting Hill
If you are looking for couples massage in Notting Hill with either a friend or a partner, we offer a bespoke service whereby either of you can choose your own massage choice.
One couple has the option to have a completely different tailored technique used on their body to ensure an enjoyable experience with maximum relaxation. The three massages to choose from are:
Traditional Thai- To help relieve tension and stress built up within muscles due to reasons such as stress or sports injury. This technique involves contorting the body into yoga style positions that stretch and relieve built up pressure around the body
Deep Tissue Massage- release pressure and strains damaged in highly physical activities. This stroke is deep and hard to help get the blood pumping around the damaged tissue
Swedish Massage- Unlike a Deep Tissue massage, a Swedish massage involves softer strokes to relax and calm the body. This is the most traditional technique used for relaxing the softer tissue which can improve circulation, relax muscles and calm the nervous system
Ashiatsu- A form of Deep Tissue Massage, whereby the therapist will use their bare feet to walk along your back. The weight from the walking will help target specific pressure points that help relieve stress, tension and muscle strains

"Who needs a therapist when I have you?" Kirby joked. "I'm kidding, obviously - but it is nice to have someone else help point me in the right direction." He snorted a little at Bowie's comment, and nodded. "Oh yes - my sister is the youngest and is always ready to pounce on the opportunity to tell me when I need to pull my head out of my ass, and even if it's annoying in the moment, I'm grateful for her anyway. I know it should be the other way around, but honestly she's like my emotional support person - I have no idea where I'd be without her. Not here, that's for sure." He paused for a moment before shaking his head. "I meant in Notting Hill not like - on this earth."
𝐁𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘, 𝐅𝐎𝐑 a moment letting the rowdy nature that lie beneath their facade go -- even if it was just for a moment. they really did enjoy spending time with kirby, even if they were as opposite as they come. ❝ but does it actually do anything but hurt you ? ❞ they ask, voice quieter than before. bowie had spent a lifetime believing that they were protecting themselves -- but they had long since realized how much they were missing out on. how beautiful love could be, and the risk that you were taking. even still, there would always be a chance for something beautiful. ❝ see ? there ya go ! i'm proud of ya, man. ❞ as someone who had recently connected with their one and only sibling, they could certainly understand the expectation. the formerly calloway siblings, although rough around the edges, were obliged to hype each other up. ❝ i got a brother -- he's always happy to tell me when i'm being a dumbass though. ❞

⸻ DOMHNALL GLEESON. HE/HIM / have you ever heard of STICK SEASON by noah kahan, well, it describes FIONN KEOGHAN to a tee! the forty nine year old, and OWNER OF A NEW CHAPTER BOOK STORE was spotted browsing through the stalls at portobello road market last sunday, do you know them? would you say HE is more dicey or more INSIGHTFUL instead? anyway, they remind me of neatly stacked books, highlighted poetry passages, the soft scratch of a record that’s played all the way through and closets stuffed full with unneeded trinkets, maybe you’ll bump into them soon!
time in notting hill: six years
alcoholism & gambling tw
Born and raised in Ireland, Fionn didn’t move to London until he was 20 years old, to pursue more schooling, and then just never left. (Yes he still has an accent no i can’t type like that)
An avid reader, though not one to do particularly well in school, he scraped by, getting a degree in library sciences. While working at libraries was rewarding in it’s own right, Fionn decided to save up to be able to take over a bookstore one day.
He met a girl when he moved to London, and their love story wasn’t anything out of the ordinary - they got married and moved in, talked about their future together - but unfortunately they had no idea the trials they were about to face.
From a young age, Fionn had problems with betting and gambling. It started innocent enough, with friends in the schoolyard, playful bets about girls and homework. But as he got older, the stakes got higher and higher. The rush of winning always seemed to overshadow the crushing defeat of losing, and it was a vicious cycle that he seemed doomed into from the start. These things ran in his family, and he could blame it on his dad, who often took him to race tracks as a kid, but he was his own man now.
At first it was just a few hundred dollars, then a thousand. It became harder to hide the financial deficit, and his wife started to ask questions. Too ashamed to admit it, Fionn just tried harder and harder to win back the money, causing him to lose even more. The breaking point finally happened, and while his wife tried for a while to help him, the strain became too much. Despite the tears and desperate pleas that he’d get better, she left, and he was absolutely devastated.
The divorce was hard on Fionn, and while he was lucky she wasn’t asking him for anything since he barely had anything left to his name, he turned to drinking as another way to cope. Between the gambling and the alcohol, he couldn’t keep up with any of his payments, and wound up having to live in the office of the bookstore he had actually managed to get in the small town of Notting Hill he moved to almost immediately proceeding the divorce settlement.
These events one after the other seemed to trigger something in him, causing him to also start hoarding - nothing serious enough to wind up on Hoarders, but it was hard for him to get rid of things - clothes, books, etc. He also had a tendency to pick up anything off the street that caught his eye - usually anything shiny or out of place.
Fionn has a lot of OCD tendencies, though he’s never been to a therapist and hasn’t been officially diagnosed. Most people would just call him anal retentive and soft spoken, but usually leave him alone to organize and sort how he wants.
He still owes a great deal of money to many people, and he hasn’t been able to curb his gambling. While he isn’t closed off from finding love, he finds more comfort in brief flings or one night stands, not entirely over his ex even though it’s been about five years since the divorce.
Despite all this, he’s very witty and pleasant, though whatever you do, do not say ‘wanna bet?’ to him because he does and he will and that won’t end well for anyone involved.
