Hypnotherapy: highly efficient for fears and pains
A number of scientific studies prove the specific functioning and effectiveness of hypnotherapy - it has long ceased to be “exotic”.
Physical complaints, dental treatment, obstetrics as well as pre- and post-operative treatment - are among the most common areas of application for hypnotherapy. But even with pain, anxiety and mild depression, Kensington coach the use of hypnosis is considered to be highly efficient. This is proven by numerous scientific studies.
Hypnosis is suitable for the treatment of anxiety
Under hypnosis, the excitability of certain brain regions is switched off or on in isolation. This spot activation, for example blocking the circumscribed areas of the brain responsible for the sensation of pain, explains that even surgical interventions and dental treatment can be carried out without anesthetic under hypnosis. At this year's MEG conference for clinical hypnosis in mid-March in Bad Kissingen, it was shown that gastroscopy under hypnosis had a 19 percent shorter examination time. 61 percent of the patients felt less gagging and the examination was more pleasant overall. In facial surgery it was even possible to treat patients with large tumors in the face and head area who otherwise would not be able to be operated on under age-old general anesthesia,

Harry and Meghan prepare for parenthood with daily meditation
Once he was a beer-drinking bachelor with a penchant for fast food, who was most likely to be found at the heart of the party.
But then our action man prince met a free-spirited Californian actress living by the ethos that most things can be ‘cured with either yoga, the beach or a few avocados’, as she wrote on her now defunct blog The Tig.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Ever since Prince Harry met Meghan Markle something has changed, writes Beth Hale (Pictured on Bondi Beach in October 2018)
Ever since Prince Harry met Meghan Markle something has changed. Last week they were spotted leaving a Notting Hill wellness shop which offers ‘energy healing’ and meditation with ‘singing bowls’.
Then it was revealed they had stayed at Heckfield Place hotel in Hampshire for three nights. It boasts an organic ethos, a yoga studio and a spa offering ‘all-natural treatments’, and holds mind-expanding talks on subjects such as ‘How the world thinks’.
Here, Beth Hale takes a look at the hippy habits of New Age Harry and Meghan…
HOLISTIC HOTEL WITH VIRTUOUS CREDENTIALS
Hotels don’t come more hip — or virtuous — than Hampshire’s Heckfield Place.
The couple stayed in the £10,000-a-night Long Room for three nights on their recent ‘babymoon’, though it’s not known what the couple were charged for their stay.
The 480-acre estate boasts its own organic farm, presided over by celebrity chef Skye Gyngell — its produce is used in the hotel’s restaurants.
The couple stayed in the £10,000-a-night Long Room for three nights on their recent ‘babymoon’ at Hampshire’s Heckfield Place (pictured)
The rooms have sweet-smelling rush matting sourced from the river Ouse, and the spa has a ‘holistic wellness programme’.
Even the pigs are spoiled with tea tree shampoo. The couple may have been introduced to it by another visitor, their friend Misha Nonoo.
THE ‘LIFE-CHANGING’ POWER OF ACUPUNCTURE FOR TWO
Meghan has long been a proponent of acupuncture, which she credited with helping her beat debilitating migraines. According to Vanity Fair, she has visited celebrity acupuncturist Ross Barr during pregnancy.
Acupuncture, which originated in China more than 2,500 years ago, involves the insertion of fine needles into the face and body.
The treatment is said to help alleviate mental or physical pain and distress. It’s now so widespread that it’s even used within the NHS, which says it’s generally safe to have acupuncture during pregnancy, as long as the acupuncturist is aware of your condition.
Back in 2015 Meghan said: ‘I have been a long-time believer in acupuncture. I used to have debilitating migraines — [I was] hospitalised for them — and acupuncture changed my life.’
Prior to their wedding, Harry and Meghan reportedly both visited Barr, who offers 45-minute sessions costing between £90 and £120.
Barr, who is based in London, even offers acupuncture as a natural substitute for Botox. He has said some of his clients treat his sessions like ‘an MoT’ or ‘maintenance for modern life’.
Harry is in good company — his mother Princess Diana had regular acupuncture sessions to cope with the strains of royal life, along with hypnotherapy, shiatsu, and even regular colonic irrigation.
THE HIP AND MYSTICAL WELLNESS BOUTIQUE
Just a stone’s throw from Kensington Palace — where Harry and Meghan were living until they moved out this week — Notting Hill’s Ilapothecary wellness boutique could have been tailor-made for Meghan.
It sells beauty products based on numerology, a mystical concept which suggests our life is guided by numbers and that each one has a unique energy.
By finding out which numbers correspond to your life, you can predict its course.
Just a stone’s throw from Kensington Palace — where Harry and Meghan were living until they moved out this week — is Notting Hill’s Ilapothecary wellness boutique (Pictured)
Ilapothecary founder Denise Leicester, a former nurse, started out with the organic Ayurvedic skincare range Ila — a Hindu priest even helped her choose the right location for her Oxfordshire production centre.
It is stocked in spas around the world and Gwyneth Paltrow and Natalie Portman are fans.
Ilapothecary — where singing crystal bowls and gongs (pictured) promote inner calm — opened last year, and Harry and Meghan were seen leaving the store last week. What they did is unknown, but Ilapothecary offers treatments which it calls ‘therapies for modern life’, including energy healing involving chakra balancing.
Another massage therapy apparently promotes the flow of breast milk and assists in childbirth recovery — this may soon appeal to Meghan. Prices range from £75 to £210.
The pair are in good company — Prince Charles is an advocate of alternative medicine.
KEEPING IT CLEAN (AND BENDY)
Pregnant Meghan has been particularly virtuous when it comes to her diet.
But it’s not just Meghan who has eschewed caffeine and alcohol. Supportive Harry has reportedly been turning to mineral water, or perhaps mint tea — a drink Meghan herself requested during an official visit this year.
He has also given up smoking and apparently embraced clean-living Meghan’s healthy eating habits. These include making her own juice, devouring avocado on toast, and a passion for roasted cauliflower, according to her blog The Tig.
The couple are thought to have taken the advice of a nutritionist when preparing for their wedding — which is hardly surprising given Meghan’s long-standing devotion to ‘wellness’.
She once counted Dhru Purohit and Dr Alejandro Junger, the founders of U.S. health and wellness company The Clean Program (based around a 21-day nutritional cleanse), as her ‘wellness coaches’.
Meghan, of course, is a well-established devotee of both vinyasa and hot yoga. She has continued doing yoga during pregnancy and has even introduced Harry to the mindful pursuit
The most well-thumbed book on the royal couple’s bookshelf might just be Meghan’s favourite, Prescription For Nutritional Healing by James and Phyllis Balch. This is an A-to-Z reference of drug-free remedies given to her by mum Doria, a yoga instructor (Pictured left with Harry and Meghan)
In an interview with wellness site The Chalkboard Mag, she revealed that she was a big fan of supplements — including magnesium, B12 drops, multivitamins and the stress-reducing aid Cortisol Manager, made with botanicals, which she took before bedtime.
She also occasionally used the herb ashwagandha, which can apparently beat stress and boost the immune system.
On top of that, she said she enjoyed infrared saunas to ‘sweat out all the toxins’, and a curious form of sculpting facial massage by celebrity skincare expert Nichola Joss.
This involves a massage from the inside of the mouth to destress muscle tissue and improve tone and firmness.
She was also a fan of the ancient therapy of cupping, in which special cups are placed on the skin to create suction. It is said to help with pain, inflammation and relaxation.

The couple’s new home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, has reportedly been equipped with a yoga studio.
BRINGING UP BABY IN AN ECO-FRIENDLY HOME
Friends have said the couple will be ‘open-minded and liberal’ parents. For the nursery at their new home in Windsor, they are understood to have chosen neutral grey and white hues.
The paint is reportedly from German organic paint brand Auro. It is stocked by The Organic and Natural Paint Company, which produces vegan paint infused with rosemary oils and eucalyptus.

As well as the stylish nursery, the eco-conscious couple have also reportedly added a £50,000 green energy unit into their new home, to provide them with heat, hot water and electricity.
MEGHAN’S ETHICAL FASHION CHOICES
Her wedding dress was Givenchy and she has shown a penchant for high fashion.
But for Meghan a wardrobe is predominantly a way to deliver an ethical message.
Her favourite jeans are by Australian ethical brand Outland Denim, which saw sales increase 2,300 per cent when she wore them six times in a month.
Then there’s the eco-friendly Veja trainers and the Rothy pumps made from recycled water bottles.
On a visit to Birkenhead, Merseyside, she hammered home the message, sporting three different jewellery designs from ethical brands.
Her bracelet was by Bar Jewellery, a sustainable label that uses recycled silver and avoids chemicals in the manufacturing process.
Her Nosheen stud earrings from brand Pippa Small were made by the artisans of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation, an Afghanistan-based charity set up by Harry’s father, Prince Charles.
She also wore a delicate gold ring on her thumb by contemporary line i+i Jewellery, which donates 10 per cent of all profits to the Indian charity Set Beautiful Free, an initiative that helps free women and children from sex slavery.
The £250 rose gold Hamsa ring, created by Turkish brand Kismet, features a palm-shaped amulet popular in North Africa and the Middle East
WARDING OFF THE EVIL EYE
Back in December, as her bump was growing and the furore over her dad Thomas Markle was continuing, Meghan was seen sporting a symbolic ring.
The £250 rose gold Hamsa ring, created by Turkish brand Kismet, features a palm-shaped amulet popular in North Africa and the Middle East. It traditionally represents good luck and protection from evil.
The eye in the palm could be said to provide protection from the evil eye — a malicious stare believed to cause misfortune.
Hamsa means five, referring to the number of fingers. The hand pointing up is seen as warding off evil, and a hand pointing down is used to bring blessings.
She was later spotted wearing not one but three evil eyes, on an ear crawler designed by ethical jewellery brand Kimai.
EMBRACING THE POWER OF THE MIND
It might surprise some to know that both Sussexes are fans of meditation.
Back when she was an actress in Suits, Meghan said it was ‘the quietude that rocked my world’, adding: ‘I am happier. Meditation has much to do with that.’
Back then she said she favoured twice-daily meditation — 20 minutes in the morning and afternoon. And in Birkenhead this year Harry told Buddhist monk Kelsang Sonam (above left) he practises meditation ‘every day’.
Back when she was an actress in Suits, Meghan said it was ‘the quietude that rocked my world’, adding: ‘I am happier. Meditation has much to do with that’ (Pictured, Harry and Meghan at the opening of Feeding Birkenhead in January)
It may not be just Meghan’s influence. In a 1992 letter, Princess Diana spoke of her interest in the Indian spiritualist teachings of Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov.
Prince Charles has also been on meditative retreats to Mount Athos, in Greece. Even the Duchess of Cornwall is in on the hobby: during an Indian retreat she undertook daily dawn yoga and meditation sessions.
HYPNOTHERAPY FOR THE IMMINENT BIRTH?
THE Duchess of Cambridge is reported to have looked into hypnobirthing when she was pregnant with Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. If Meghan and Harry (birth partners tend to do it together) choose to practise hypnobirthing, they could be following in her footsteps.
Hypnobirthing involves relaxation and breathing techniques to manage labour pains and ‘visualise’ the baby’s arrival.
Experts claim the practice, which is said to have helped celebrity mums Angelina Jolie and Gisele Bundchen and is based on English doctor Grantly Dick-Read’s work in the Thirties, keeps the mother calm from the moment she goes into labour.
One of the many apparent benefits of the technique is that mothers may not require pain relief during labour.
RIGHT-ON SPEECHES AND WISE BANANAS
The couple appear to have adopted a rather ‘right-on’, politically correct approach to their public messages, which might explain the appointment of celebrity American PR guru Sara Latham to handle their affairs.
Harry delivered a very touchy-feely speech to 12,000 screaming youngsters at Wembley arena for WE Day last month. This event was part of a global initiative encouraging young people to take part in positive social change.
He said they needed to have ‘less screen time, and more face-to-face time, exceed expectations, and take risks’ if they were to leave their mark on the world.
A handwritten message is seen on a piece of fruit in a food parcel prepared by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex to go in the charity outreach van, during a visit to One25 in Bristol
However, his inspiring message was also peppered with criticism of previous generations, suggesting they were judgmental, lacked positivity and were incapable of ‘thinking outside the box’.
Then this week he said: ‘Social media is more addictive than alcohol and drugs.’
The very millennial message, which came in for criticism from some quarters, followed Meghan’s famously impromptu decision to pen motivational messages such as ‘You are brave’ and ‘You are loved’ on bananas in food packages to be given to prostitutes.
The Duchess had been paying a visit to the One25 charity in Bristol, which reaches out to women trapped in, or vulnerable to, sex work.

Hypnotherapy in March
Looking for a hypnotherapist in March?
Hypnosis is a technique that has been used in medicine for over 200 years.  Franz Mesmer stumbled across a process he called Mesmerism in the 1780s. This was the precursor to the modern hypnosis in March you are interested in.
What Is Hypnosis
The definition of hypnosis is; the induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.
Use of hypnosis
It is used for the treatment of many medical problems and conditions including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sleeping problems, addictions such as smoking and gaming, losing weight and post traumatic stress.
The traditional expectation of hypnosis is of course inaccurate. When you are hypnotised you are not under the control of anyone and still have free will. You cannot be forced to do anything you don’t want to.
What does hypnosis feel like?
When you are hypnotised you are in a trance state.  It is very similar to daydreaming or being engrossed in a book or film. You are very relaxed with heightened imagination and very suggestible. Sleeping it is not, as you are alert the whole time.
In this state your mind is far more open to suggestions and retrieving memories. The subconscious mind that you normally cannot access is now available to you and the therapist.
This large part of your mind enables you to do things automatically. You don’t think about breathing  or how to walk. When in a trance new instructions and thoughts can be suggested and accepted in your subconscious.
How can hypnotherapy help you?
It can help you day to day in coping with all that life throws at you. For example if you are prone to anxiety the hypnotic instruction to rub two fingers together can help calm you.  These are called post hypnotic suggestions and can be very effective.
You can also learn how to hypnotise yourself enabling you to reinforce the hypnosis therapy you receive. Self hypnosis can be done quickly once you have mastered the technique so is usable everyday.
Your brain is affected by both types of hypnosis. Activity in the brain changes and can be seen on electroencephalographs (EEG).  This records electrical activity in your brain in the same way an ECG does of your heart.
How am I hypnotised?
This is fairly standard and there are 3 main techniques.
The first is as you know from films and involves fixing your eyes on say a watch swinging from side to side.
The second is rapid induction as used by stage hypnotists who use firm instructions and directions.
Thirdly is  progressive relaxation and imagery combined with a slow soothing voice, often employed by medical professionals.
All three hypnotic inductions work well. Most importantly nobody can be hypnotised against there will. So no need to be nervous.
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy in March is a safe and effective approach for many problems as long as it is performed by trained professionals.  You will find them here
