apart from the general bullshit the criticism of j2 at work that ive heard is that they loooove to be silly and have fun, completely disregarding how long other staff have been working and making days way longer than they had to be. i have no real source for this but seeing as you know about singer allegations you probably know more than me, what are your thoughts
i actually read an interview from jim parrack, the guy who played dean's siren in 4.14 earlier, and this is what he had to say and jared and jensen on set:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/07b7d40c7dafe9cb00c18d6722e6f13f/2f19fc0daacf31d0-26/s540x810/ea119973b88ac9641b1b1e54b238637117b22bce.jpg)
like while it's very much plausible because that's their workplace that they're very much not really at risk of getting fired from and as a result, they're more slack about their own time as well as the time of the people they work with, i just don't think it would ultimately be in any of their best interests to actually permanently hinder the work of themselves and others on set. like these guys are very much already working twelve to sixteen hours a workday, they're miles away from their families and their entire lives are the people they work with. a supernatural episode had a maximum of eight days to be filmed which is forty minutes of Everything within only 128 hours. i doubt they would actually go to any extreme past these aspects of the basic working environment, especially when these are the coworkers they have actual work relationships with that need to be upheld. there's also the basic idea that that j2 are both extremely well experienced actors; jensen's talked about how fast paced and roboticised working on the days of our lives was and jared was quite literally coming off of multiple shows and movies on which he was guest starring. you can see how their past experiences help within their day-to-day abilities even in bloopers or in interviews like the one above i don't think they need the extra time to goof off lol
i recently came across that story of jared's issue with the final scene in 14.12 and the way it as well as other stories they've told regarding working on set is described is really interesting to be because something jared specifically mentions remembering having an issue with, was how much time he was holding the crew back on set while he was continuing to struggle with his lines. and like, this isn't the only aspect of their work relationship/pov ive seen where it's very obvious that they, not only have respect for their own jobs and treat it as a job worth working hard for, but they also have a lot of respect for the people they work with. there's also another story where j2 were goofing off during the 11.04 smoothie scene in the impala, which is a scene that was shot when the impala was not moving, but rather the environment (controlled by the crew) moved around them outside of the car, and they capped their shenanigans at three takes maximum and while telling the story jared made a note about the fact that there were crew members who were doing these environmental movements for them. quite simply, they Care
also like, the part about singer that i'd talked about was in the context of jared's own goal as a producer was to make sure that the work environment on walker was a comfortable one in which, "[their] cast and crew are treated correctly and that some of the habits that can happen on a tv show that end up hurting people don’t materialize." [x] which i think says a lot about his (and jensen's) workplace values especially since jared's past experiences influenced so very much of his decisions re: walker. so like i said while it's very much plausible, but based on what i know i'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt
#that being said that sounds like discourse more than it sounds like it actually relates to#any real feedback from people who had worked on supernatural#i see stuff adjacent to this pretty often from people who dislike jared in the context of:#he was a horrible person to misha because his pranks and workplace behaviours were very harmful and misha deserved none of that#as if misha isn't their friend that was very much in on their pranks#i rewatched jared's nerd hq 2012 panel recently where jared talks about how misha got him back for a prank#by removing a tennis ball stopper from some kind of set equipment cause he knew jared would be the only one tall enough to run into it#they're very much Like That i'm afraid#quaerit

Truth Potion Problems 3
An afternoon spent under the light of aquarium tanks cast a calm feeling. Yuu sip on their tea while reading over some classwork. Fish swimming by as many tables in the lounge are filled with customers. Most have fun with their friends as the day comes to an end. Chitter and chatter drone out the soft jazz playing through the speakers set up in the lounge. The only thing to bring you out of their focus is the sound of clinking and things moving on their table. They look up only to see the famous Jade Leech placing down a new teacup filled with a purple-based liquid. “This is free on the house; we only wish for honest feedback.” He gives a sinister grin. Yuu stares at him for a minute before picking it up. “And why should I trust that? Nothing comes for free here...?” they ask him. He keeps on his grin. “just a way to say ‘thank you’ for saving Azul by his courtesy. Also, trying new flavors.” He lies with smooth ease and motionless. Yuu hums, showing disbelief and skepticism. After a minute-long stare-down, yuu takes a sip of the tea. they quietly think for a moment, then take another sip. “Just a little bit less mint and I think it would be great.” They tell him while looking up at him. He nods and gives a closed-eyed smile. “Thank you for your feedback. I will make sure to do that next time.” He tells them before leaving. Yuu just sigh softly before going back to work. Before they can get lost back in their work, the sounds of shattering dishes can be heard across the room. Looking up, there is now a fight going on between Floyd and a bear beastman. Azul comes out of his office, only to shout “Floyd! Office now! Jade, deal with our guest now please.” His tone calms down at the end before following Floyd who storms into the office. The door closes and locks as Jade rushes over and talks to the male while ushering him out. The only sounds resonating at this moment come from the speakers. A lot of people started rushing to finish or pay so they could leave. Yuu was not part of this crew, only sitting there and watching the other student employees.
The staff were in a rush, like platelets patching a cut. Everywhere and working hard. Going back to their work, yuu found the music calming and helpful to work to. Things fall into a quiet pattern as the only things that were heard were hush talk, footsteps, and smooth jazz. Going back to work, yuu lose track of both time and tea consumed.
Not even the screeching of a chair brought yuu out of their work trance. A few minutes go by before yuu snap out of their trance due to their teacup not being in the same spot. They look up to see a smirking Azul holding their empty cup. “Jade said to go easy on the mint?” he asks them, to which yuu nods “or add a dash of honey to balance it out.” They think out loud. Azul gives a curt nod, “All all right, we will try them both ways.” He responds “Now, would you like some help with your work there?” He hums and leans on the tabletop. Yuu shakes their head. “no, I don’t have a problem with this work, you’ll just hold it over my head or want me to work for you in return,” Yuu says while giving them a deadpan. Azul holds up his hands and shakes his head “I am a changed man now, remember~.” He teasingly said. Yuu roll their eyes and straighten their pages. “Now now, is that how you treat a friend~?” he lightly teases. “Yes, very much so.” Stated by yuu in a stoic tone. A slight ‘Owch’ can be heard not far away. Azul shakes their head as yuu recognize the voice to belong to the now snickering Floyd. “Just ignore them.” He tells them while taking a glance at their papers. Yuu looks back and just looks at him, “why are you over here? Don’t you have a business to run~?” they joke with him. “Just talking as Friends, is that a crime?” he fakes pouts to them “Friends? I doubt you view me as a friend or like how I like you.” Yuu says, before adding, “Even ‘new’ you think only in gains or losses, not friendship and joys that come with it.” Starting as they go back to work. “Oh? And how do you like little old me? Hm?” he questions while raising a brow, pretending not to hear the rest. “It’s a stupid crush, working on getting over it. Not like you would like me, I mean you can quite literally get anything you want, while I can barely make it over the mountain of work I get.” They say without looking up or missing a beat. Azul’s face and ears turn a bright red, one to rival a cooked octopus. Azul covers the lower haft of his face, trying to hide his blush. “oya~? A crush you’re working on getting over~?” Jade teases as he pops up to one side of the table, grinning sadistically. Azul glares at him, as Jade and Floyd both know he has a crush on the perfect. Flyod slinks over and wraps his arm over Yuu’s shoulders. “Are you falling for one of us shrimpy~~?” Floyd teases and pokes their face before forcing them to look at him in the eyes. Yuu blushes lightly but rolls their eyes. “No, not at all” they groan slightly as Floyd gives a fake pout. “boo~,” he said as Yuu broke free of his hold by smacking away his hands. Yuu huffs and glares at Jade. “you drugged my tea.” They accuse him, killing him over and over with their minds. Both of the eels chuckle at their misfortune. “Now why would I do that~?” Jade teases. Yuu just give him a deadpan stare. “Why would you try to change your mind?” Azul asks Yuu, before looking at the twins “And you too get out of here!” he stands up. The twins chuckle but leave, not too far though. Yuu stayed silent for a bit, not looking at him. They wave him off,
“It doesn’t matter anyway.” They tell him. “you’ll just try to use this whole thing as leverage over me anyhow.” Shrugging while packing up their work, only stopping when Azul takes their hands. “And what if it was for a contract, both sides would win.” He says “That is what I was saying.” They look at him annoyed as he forms out a contract. “We both sign the contract; we will be legally binding partners and emotionally. This way you can never leave without good cause.” He states matter of factly, thinking up ways to keep them there with him. “or,” pushes away the contract, “we can just be partners? No need to bring insecurity in this, we both share that on this issue.” Yuu tells him. Packing up all their work. “Come by my place at 6 pm tomorrow. Causal clothes.” They say while standing up and leaving. Azul stood there shocked and blushing as the two eels slinked out. One wrapped onto the other side of him, arms draped over his shoulder. “You look just like cooked Takoyaki! Hehe,” Floyd tease while poking his cheek. “Fufu seems someone has finally been caught~” Jade grins at his brother who grins back.
“Both of you shut up!” Azul shouts, covering his red-stained face.

...Alaine, Glenvar, and Mr. Ocean waited in the hospital lobby. Staff expressed concern about Alaine’s ravaged ear, but she insisted on treating it herself. She knew that whenever an Industrialist was in office, Zareenite healthcare was a costly ordeal, so she headed to the restroom and taped a menstrual pad to the side of her head.
She returned to the waiting area shortly, plopping down on a bench next to her cohorts. “There, how’s that? Can you believe I never went to medical school?” she asked proudly, showing off her handiwork. The tape peeled away from her scaly face when she turned her head, and the whole pad fell to the floor. Alaine stared down at it in dismay as blood trickled down her neck. “God damn it…”
“Perhaps you should seek professional care after all?” suggested Mr. Ocean. His regenerative powers had already closed his own wounds, leaving scars that would surely fade by tomorrow.
Alaine argued, “No way! Do you have any idea how much they’ll charge me? Besides, the empire doesn’t let you cross the border if you have outstanding debts to the government. It’s just a little scratch, I can handle it.”
She picked the pad up, brushed it off with her fingers, and attempted to stick it to her head again.
“It’s already bleedin’ through. Yer ear’s fecked, stira,” Glenvar pointed out.
“No!” argued Alaine, right before the blood-soaked pad peeled off her head and splattered against the floor again.
Mr. Ocean rose from his seat and approached her, placing his hands on the sides of her face. “Will you allow me to help then? I will not charge for my services,” he teased, offering a little smile.
Alaine sighed, “Oh, Ocean, don’t waste your magic on me. You gotta heal those crazy bullet holes of yours. God, those Kuzapa goons practically turned you into a sea sponge!”
“Magic will heal my body whether I will it or not,” he explained. “So, I may as well will some of it to you. Hold still, my friend. You may feel a strange sensation in your ear.”
Alaine grumbled, “Pff, can’t possibly feel any worse than it already–Oow, fuck! Okay, nevermind, this is brutal!” She gnashed her teeth and closed her eyes tight, enduring the intense sensation as her ear cartilage rapidly mended itself. Mr. Ocean casted a healing spell upon it, causing her whole ear to glow with light. After a minute or two, the light faded and he stepped back to admire his work.
Alaine’s pained expression softened. She wiped the sweat off her brow, then tucked her hair behind her ear and asked, “Whew…Thanks. I mean, that felt like shit, but I appreciate it. So, how’s it look? Back to normal, right?”
Glenvar and Mr. Ocean looked at her misshapen ear, then at each other. Mr. Ocean knew he couldn’t lie, so he remained silent and hoped Glenvar would do it for him. Instead, the Maskamar snickered, “Heh heh, ya look like ya got a li’l mushroom growin’ out the side of yer head! You ‘n Wiggles are twins now, ain’t ya?” He burst into laughter as Alaine’s face fell in disappointment.
-Excerpt from the upcoming story "ChroMight Technologies"
Sometimes Alaine fools us into thinking she's the one Competent Badass(tm) of the crew...then scenes like this remind us that she's just as dumb as the rest of them lmao

9 + Venom Snake
9. a missing scene that definitely happened
im SO upset we never get to see venom interacting with the main cast outside of cutscenes. not even a little rpg-style chat menu to talk to your guys… dragon age camp style wouldve been ideal........ theres NO WAY he didnt go to sickbay and visit kaz or quiet while they were in there.
especially when you rescue kaz, because theres absolutely no way there wasnt some kind of timeskip for him to get back into active command of motherbase. that guy was FUCKED UP. heavily wounded with likely-shoddily-dressed severed limbs, probably malnourished and dehydrated, not to mention traumatized and at least partially BLINDED. so there had to have been at least a week (because hes insane and wouldnt have let himself rest longer unless someone forced him to) where v and others were visiting him in the sickbay that the game doesnt show you.
i know thats a really mundane scenario and it kinda makes sense that it was omitted from the game for story and mechanics reasons (since kaz is in charge of mother base and it would be difficult to run without him). but if mgs4 can have those scenes on the nomad where everyones just sitting around getting caught up on mission objectives and hanging out, we couldve gotten even a tiny montage of hospital visits……..
or quiet when shes recovering from the chlorine burns!!!!!!! v is obviously invested in the well-being of his crew, quiet especially, and after the chlorine tank scene with the necklace where he PERSONALLY CARRIES HER TO THE MEDICAL STAFF, she just.. gets booted to sickbay menu and we never hear anything about it again. like. REALLY??? the med team or r&d team have to have treated her somehow even if she would barely let anyone touch her- hell i bet she WOULD let venom do it. she trusts him. he (subconsciously) knows what hes doing with first aid, and anything more complicated he could either be instructed on or convince her to relax just by being there....
it just... if ocelot can bring bb and venom flowers… why cant we bring flowers for kaz or quiet… peel an orange for them or SOMETHING
#oops this is long#jazz noises#im so. so very sad.#i need to see more of them...#metal gear#venom snake#inbox#theowlseye

I need to expand a bit on this. I haven't been able to get Hazbin Hotel off the mind.
Something that often gets neglected when talking about a piece of media is its control of theme and tone, the high-level ideas and beliefs that the show is built on. Themes are as foundational to a good story as the setting; the latter dictates what can happen at any point in the story (if the cast needs to move from California to New York in a day, it matters whether the setting has airplanes or teleportation) while the former dictates what ought to happen at any point in the story (if the story's themes revolve around the nature of small towns in California, moving the cast to New York is a massive shift and can't be treated like a normal occurrence). A poor grasp on theme can lead to haphazard story progression where elements start and stop mattering seemingly at random.
Dunmeshi's an example of what happens when you have really good, really strong theming. Dunmeshi is about food. Dunmeshi never stops being about food. The dungeon is understood through recipes. The driving motivations of many major characters in the latter half are understood through desire, through hunger. Friendship and community is understood through the intimacy and collaboration involved in shared meals. Ryoko Kui takes her thoughts about eating and builds the setting and the characters and the plot beats around it in such a way that the constant references to food never feel forced. The ideas about food from the beginning of the manga remain relevant even at the cataclysmic climax. That's what makes the story so compelling even when you take the shipping out of the equation.
The theming doesn't even have to be that strong to help the story out. Lackadaisy's theming isn't as tightly-knit as Dunmeshi, but still guides the story in its own way. Seven years into prohibition, the liquor's running low and without the liquor, the club scene starts to fade - but the clubs won't go down without a fight. Lackadaisy is about surviving off of the dregs and looking good doing it, with much of the Lackadaisy staff struggling to keep up appearances even when decay and instability threatens to tear them up from the inside out. Rocky wants to be a fun-loving dilletante, not the outcast who's been ostracized from everywhere but Lackadaisy. Mitzi wants to remain the madame of the club, even as she has to do so with less booze, less patrons and more enemies. Freckle wants to be normal and not a gun freak; Viktor wants to be the strongman of his youth rather than an aging man with several health problems; Ivy wants to be a part of the club and not horribly out of her depth in an increasingly lethal underworld; it goes on. There are characters who are well-off enough to not have this dynamic - the Marigold crew, in particular - but even they come off as hunted in their own right, devouring their lessers like famine is at the door. Granted, this doesn't dictate every single action in the comic (or the animation pilot) but it's a good governing tool and it works well with Tracy Butler's incredibly detailed depiction of The 1920s With Cat People.
What is the theme of Hazbin Hotel? Change, maybe? The idea that the division between heaven and hell, angels and demons, isn't ironclad and demons can be worthy of heaven? That's the path that dictates the arcs of Angel and Sir Pentious, the only two actual guests at the hotel, but Sir Pentious is a joke and Angel is only allowed to stop being a joke in the context of his abuse. Is the theme believing in your dream no matter how impossible it seems? That appears to describe Charlie, except that nobody really takes her seriously as well until episode 6-ish. Neither of these play into Alastor's part in all this, as he has no engagement with the rest of the cast outside of being playthings and his solo sections are mostly about his self-aggrandizement. If he has a theme, it's 'being a cocky a-hole kind of rules'. Is hell supposed to be worth saving? The idea isn't given much credit until the last episode, Charlie is largely treated as an incompetent chit who doesn't know what she's doing, and much of hell is depicted as being endless violence and perversion (negative) and cruelty and a lot of hell prefers it that way. Is death even supposed to be awful? Angel Dust and Husk gunning down fish mafiosos is good fun, and Charlie dancing around corpses is hilarious, but angels slaughtering hell is not and the show never entirely explains why.
This is a show that doesn't know what it cares about. This is a show that doesn't understand what needs to be focused on, what's actually important. And you can see how that hurts the show at every turn. Episodes will blow chunks of runtime and flashy song numbers on minor plot beats and characters. Characters' development will start and stop because the show can't unify how they act when they're ensemble members with how they act when they're headliners - Angel Dust is by far the worst case here. We're left with a poor emotional understanding of a lot of setting elements; it's hard to know how to feel about the titular hotel when the narrative takes every opportunity to sideline it in favor of some other drama. The only thing that feels constant and steady in the show is Alastor - and the way that the show depicts every other character as being beneath him in terms of either importance, power or prestige, including Charlie. So yeah, with no stronger handling of the show's thematic backing, the theme does become 'being a cocky a-hole rules; sucks if you're anybody else'.
I don't mean to label Hazbin Hotel or Viziepop as particularly awful. If anything, I have such strong thoughts about the importance of a story's guiding principles because I've seen so many stories that lack them. But it baffles me that we're getting this kind of awfulness from a small cartoon based on an independent internet project rather than, say, a triple A videogame where the story is designed to not offend the millions of people who need to buy it in order to break even rather than being good on its own merits. Viziepop, Ryoko K and Tracy B all have similar origins - female artists who started out online*, eventually managed to tap into a massive internet audience, and got enough good press to get their work animated. But with Ryoko and Tracy, they had already done the thinking and planning and theming long before someone decided to summon the animators. Their work was already strong on its own merits. What happened in this case? Where is the emotional structure? Why does it feel like this? It's so frustrating.
*Dunmeshi did not start as an online product, but Ryoko ran a sporadically-updated webcomic for four years before starting on Dunmeshi, and manga is generally read online these days anyways. I'm counting it.
Watched Hazbin Hotel while fighting off the anxiety attacks and I'm still kind of amazed by it?
I didn't not enjoy the show. I laughed a couple of times. But if you pick at the underlying assumptions that the show's based on, it just gets weirder and weirder and weirder. The basic premise of the hotel itself falls apart when you realize that nobody really understands what virtue or vice is in this universe, or how one pursues them, or what makes a sinner a sinner.
Charlie balks at Angel Dust's love of sex and drugs, but she doesn't really understand why they're bad and just thinks they're gross. The show puts forth 'he's using them to distract from his abusive business/sexual relationship' as an explanation for why they're bad, but sidesteps the fact that everybody in the show drinks alcohol to deal with stress and Charlie is implied to be in a physical relationship with her girlfriend; they're in the same bed at least. Killing and violence is bad, except when you're defending yourself from an attack, but it's still morally correct to spare the important characters. Friendship and camaraderie and being nice to each other is something treated as a big breakthrough for the hotel, but it's also something that the overlords show very clearly; there's a big plot beat connected to a demon's love for her family. The show makes a big deal about how heaven's understanding of virtue and vice is undercooked at best, but it also struggles to fit Charlie's understanding of them, an understanding that the entire premise is balanced on, into the world as something real and meaningful. And even when it does fit, it feels so weirdly childish. Which I guess is why the show transitions mid-season from 'how do we make the demons play nice' to 'how do we fend off the forces of heaven'.

I was finally able to watch Markiplier play Poppy Playtime’s stream (x) and he brought up something at the end that I think is really good to remember.
(If you want to watch it, he starts talking about it at the 2:39:08 mark)
I don’t know all the details myself but all I know is that some of the higher ups that produce Poppy Playtime support NFTs. While supporting NFTs is terrible, not everyone that worked on Poppy Playtime buys/supports NFTs. So many people, even some indie creators, were allowed to work on a cool game which doesn’t make the game bad.
When I say I love The Owl House, I’m not saying I love Disney, I’m saying that I love the show that Dana Terrace and her crew have worked on.
When I say I love Gravity Falls, I’m not saying I want to give Disney my money. I’m saying that I love how Alex Hirsch was able to make an amazing family oriented story that’s so personal to not just himself but to everyone around him.
When I say I love Amphibia, I’m not saying that everything Disney does is perfect. I’m saying that Matt Braly is a hilarious creator that put his entire heart and soul into one of the best animated shows I’ve ever seen.
When I say I love Marvel, I’m not saying that Disney should keep screwing over their emplo-- cast members. What I’m saying is that Stan Lee was an incredible man that believed in love and equality and was an important figure in my childhood.
When I say I love Percy Jackson, I’m not saying Disney is the best thing to ever happen to the planet. I’m saying that Rick Riordan is one of the most amazing people on this planet. He’s constantly learning and adapting to make sure that people from all walks of life can see themself in media and realize they’re not alone.
To use a different example. If you go to a McDonald’s, you hopefully don’t yell at the staff for how the cows were treated. The clinically depressed 16 year old cashier can’t really do anything about whatever terrible events that transpired on the farm. This same 16 year old isn’t evil either. They need a way to make money for themself and if this is how they chose to do it, good for them.
I will never support Disney (brand) but I will always support the people. I will always support the back breaking effort and work that the animators, writers, voice actors, directors, and etc put into making our lives sucks a little less.
#markiplier said it better#it's 1 in the morning so i don't know how coherent this is#i'm not using that as an excuse btw#i will gladly talk to anyone that wants to rebuttle#disney#disney+#toh#the owl house#amphibia#gravity falls#pjo#marvel#percy jackon and the olympians#dana terrace#alex hirsch#stan lee#matt braly#heroes of olympus#rick riordan

nobody does it like you do - act 2
Thank you so much for all your reactions to part 1! I hope you enjoy part two just as much :)
CW: mentions of past minor character death (incl. a pregnant woman)
7.3k - masterlist - ao3
--
Her first day of shooting isn’t great. It’s not bad by a long way, but it could have easily been better. They’re on location in a forest somewhere in the outskirts of Rifthold and she didn’t even know there were places in the city like this, she’d assumed it was all the sprawling metropolis of skyscrapers and crowded streets, but apparently not.
She’s cold. Theres a machine beating down torrents of fake rain on her and Fenrys where they stand opposite each other on the muddy path through the trees, they’re filming the scene where their characters first meet. Her feet are soggy inside the canvas trainers she’s wearing and they keep spraying water on her hair to keep the wet look running throughout all of the takes and she hates it. She’s uncomfortable and stiff but she comforts herself with the knowledge that Fenrys is the same if the frown he wears whenever the camera isn’t on him is anything to go by.
It helps, barely.
She keeps having to spit water out of her mouth between lines, she swears it never rains this heavily in real life but who is she to comment, and she watches Rowan’s lips twist in displeasure where he sits behind the camera every time she does it. Aelin’s not sure what else she’s supposed to do, he can sit there out of the line of the water all fine, but she can’t speak with her mouth full.
It can take time to fall into the natural rhythm of shooting a new project, even the shitty ones she’s done in the past have shown her that, but there’s something about the way Rowan watches her that prickles the back of her neck, his stare intense and heavy as he watches, that adds the pressure. She wants to show him that she can do this. She wants his approval.
She ignores the reasons why.
After they finish and Rowan has called cut she sulks back to her trailer, she’s only just managed to change out of her sodden clothes when there’s a knock at the door. It’s Fenrys, warm and dry now in his own change of clothes.
They’ve sort of become friends recently, after swapping numbers after the table read he had texted her first. The studio has put him in the same complex as her and they’ve shared a car back there a couple of times after some of their meetings. She likes him a lot actually, and while she knows his reputation of infamy with the ladies follows him around like a bad smell, she feels comfortable with him.
“That could have gone better,” he tells her as he flops down onto the two-seater sofa at the end of her trailer, the other half has a mound of clothes dumped on it that she hasn’t bothered to sort through yet.
She just shoots him a look that she hopes says tell me about it.
“Tomorrow will be better,” he tells her, reassuringly. He would know she supposes, he has far more experience than her.
“I hope so.”
“How’re you finding it so far, working with Rowan?” he asks, and she frowns, bristling at the fact that he somehow knows the worst question to ask already. Aelin doesn’t think she’s behaved weirdly around Rowan since the day at the table read, in fact she’s tried to avoid him where possible. Maybe that’s it.
“Fine,” she says, but that’s not quite true. It messes with her in a dangerous way every time she knows he’s watching her. She should be able to turn that part of her brain off during a scene, she trained for years to learn how to do that, but he gets to her. She’s working on it.
Fenrys laughs, seeing right through her.
“He’s not bad once you get to know him, the first time we worked together I thought he was a total dick.” She gives him the same look as before as she clears the clothes and sits down next to him.
“I swear he’s not that bad. He’s just-” Fenrys pauses, weighing her up with a look, and something that he takes in from the way she stands, gnawing on her lower lip with her hair still wet, has him saying; “He’s got a lot riding on this.”
“Why?”
It doesn’t feel like he has a lot riding on this, his last piece was nominated for the Oscars, how much higher than that can you get? It’s not like he’s in the same position as her, desperately clawing herself back to a place where she can be cast in a role and it not be followed by a stunned, oh?
She knows there were articles written when her casting was announced that were doubtful of her ability to do this movie, that questioned whether she’s up to the task and whether she’s good enough to be standing next to names like Fenrys and Rowan. Some of the articles were straight up mean, and she only knows that because she searched them up like a masochist when all the ones Elide sent over were far too nice.
A dark part of herself can’t help but fall prey to some of the headlines. The ones that throw around words like nepotism, the ones that question whether Aelin is talented enough to be where she is cut deeper than any knife, and only half of it is because she sometimes wonders the same. She should be better than that, but the reminder catches in her throat that she really does have a lot riding on this.
“It’s not really my place to say.”
That’s a load of shit, and she tells him so. He only shrugs, not willing to so openly gossip about their boss.
“How well do you know him exactly?” She’s fishing for any details, but it definitely could be passed off as casual curiosity.
“He directed my debut, we keep in touch every so often.” He’s nonchalant. “He asked me to audition for this.”
“Nice humble brag.”
Fenrys only flashes her his movie star grin, in combination with the wink he throws at her it’s almost an effort not to blush.
“He wanted you cast, you know?” That she didn’t know, but it’s nice to hear.
“Why? He doesn’t know me.”
“You’re hard work, you know?” He’s joking but it doesn’t sit quite right. She knows it’s true. “Come with us tonight. There's a group of us getting dinner, and you can ask him yourself.”
It’s an olive branch. She knows it’s obvious to everyone that she’s uncomfortable, still hasn’t quite found her feet on set after taking such a break, and it’s one that she’s grateful for. No matter how closed off she knows she still seems to them.
“Okay,” she says and Fenrys’ smile is genuine and a part of her lifts, it’s a start.
They share a car to the restaurant and he fills the journey with easy chatter. She appreciates it because she feels really fucking rusty. It’s been a while since she spoke to anyone outside of her immediate circle of friends and family, and it’s always been easy with them. This is different, but not unwelcome.
Sometimes she worries that, as much as they love her, Aedion, Lysandra and Elide are inclined to tread lightly around her. She’d like to think that she’s not that fragile, that she could take the full front of their humour and teasing like she used to, but then remembers when Fenrys’ joke fell flat for her in the trailer and she thinks again.
Either way, the cast and crew here don’t treat her like she’s broken, or even breakable, and it’s refreshing.
Fenrys leads the way into the restaurant, and there’s definitely paparazzi down the street snapping away at them as they cross the short distance from the car to the door. She tries to ignore it, she’ll text Elide once they’re done here, even though Elide will probably be overjoyed. It’s probably (definitely) easier to publicise your talent when she’s out there doing things with other famous people compared to staying inside her home alone.
Fenrys greets the staff on the door and they lead them through the restaurant to a staircase at the back of the room and it leads up to a private space with only one table. Right, privacy. Some of these guys are proper celebrities.
They’re the last ones there, and there’s two seats left at the table. Manon is here, so is Rowan and one of the executive producers who she thinks is called Gavriel.
“Alright guys, you all know Aelin,” Fenrys says and she smiles as they greet her.
Fenrys holds a chair out for her, the one next to Rowan, and she slides into it as he takes the one on her other side.
Rowan offers her a quirk of his lips, one she returns as she takes him in. He’s wearing short sleeves this time and she gets a good look at the tattoo snaking the whole way down his left arm. It’s in the Old Language and she can’t read it, even though her father had spent hours trying to teach her when she was a kid, but the lettering is beautiful and neat. She wants to reach out and touch, to trace the lines that roll down his golden skin.
She doesn’t. Obviously.
A waiter comes over to take their drink orders, Fenrys gets a beer, Manon and Gavriel opt for wine, but Rowan asks for an orange juice. He’s not drinking either and she wonders if it’s related to the reason he needs this movie to go well. So she’s nosy? So what?
She sits back and observes as the conversation flows, laughing along at the easy banter that flows between the three men and the sarcastic quips Manon throws in. Fenrys clearly understated his relationship with Rowan, they seem tight and have a clear fondness for one another. It’s easy to slot herself in as the night progresses, snarking with Manon and joining in with the general light-hearted mockery of Fenrys.
She thinks maybe so far she’s got Rowan wrong.
Tonight he’s quick-witted and charming, and he makes his best effort to include her in the conversation which she appreciates. It’s a contrast to the dark and teasing side of him she’s seen so far in the hallway and the table read. Maybe he’s decided to just start again, pretend they never met before she was cast, and she can do that too.
“So, Aelin.” Manon turns the spotlight to her after a while. “Tell us the scoop. I’ve not seen you in anything for a while.”
It’s not a nasty question, Aelin can just tell from the way she asks it, nothing more than genuine curiosity lies in her tone even if the phrasing is somewhat harsh. Manon might not be the bubbliest of characters, she’s blunt and doesn’t beat around the bush, but she’s not unkind, and Aelin doubts if she knew the truth she’d ask that question in such a way.
Elide managed to keep the worst of her… career break? One could phrase it more like breakdown, out of the limelight. She somehow managed to keep the worst of it hidden, and Aelin will owe her that for the rest of her life.
All the world knows is that Sam was murdered when they were both still newbies to their respective industries, neither of them had had their big break yet, and after that she took a break. For three years.
She remembers the headlines from the time, most were in smaller magazines, Sam wasn’t famous enough to make the front pages. Her mouth tastes like bile.
Singer-Songwriter Sam Cortland, 20, murdered in random street attack in Orynth, girlfriend Aelin Ashryver unharmed and working with police to identify suspect.
No one knows she knelt there in his blood begging for him to open his eyes, not even Aedion, or Lysandra or Elide, and she blinks back the image now. Her hands are curled into fists below the table and she forces herself to uncurl them and lay them flat against her jeans.
“Yeah,” she says after clearing her throat. “I took a break from it all for a few years, but I’m back now obviously and really excited for it.”
Manon nods and Gavriel raises a glass. He’s been nothing but kind to her all night. He kind of reminds her of her father, though he’s not that old, probably not even forty yet. He’s softly spoken and counters each snarky comment from Fenrys or Manon with something softer but no less amusing.
“Good to hear,” Fenrys says with a grin, clinking his glass against Gavriel’s.
The way Rowan watches her as he raises his own glass in a toast to her, careful and without speaking, tells her he knows. At least the basics about Sam, and it seems like maybe he did google her just like she joked back at the table read.
Their meals arrive then, mercifully taking the attention away from her. She needs to find a better way to deal with the attention than shutting down, especially if this film is going to be as big as everyone thinks it will be. She should call her therapist.
She will.
Eventually.
They leave the restaurant not long after, Fenrys covering the bill, emphasising that this was a celebration and an initiation for Aelin. She almost blushes for some unknown reason at his words, but she likes it. It sounds good. Like she really is back, or at least will be.
They each give her their numbers, and she likes the way he’s in her phone now as Rowan rather than Rowan Whitethorn, it feels like he’s not just someone from work. Not just her boss.
They each say goodbye and share a series of embraces, ignoring the small group of paparazzi that follow, desperate for any kind of incriminating image of any of the five of them. It’s clear that most of them are here for Fenrys, but she still makes sure to keep her expression clear and guarded as Rowan wraps her into a one-armed hug when they leave. It’s not just for the paparazzi.
Back in her apartment, when she’s tucked up in bed knowing she should be asleep, she can’t stop herself from googling him. She’s honestly surprised she’s lasted this long.
The first few news articles to come up are all about the movie and she scrolls past them, instead pulling up his Wikipedia page and scrolling straight to the personal life section. Maybe this is the weirdest way anyone’s ever got to know a friend, but she’s intrigued and still slightly flustered by him so it will do.
The section on his personal life is relatively bare, and it doesn’t surprise her. His Instagram account alone told her pretty explicitly that he’s a private kind of guy. She almost scrolls away after the first few lines, they don’t give her much information other than the college he went to and the languages he speaks, but she reads the final few lines of the section anyway.
In March 2018 Whitethorn’s fiance, Lyria Woods, passed away as the result of a road traffic accident. The driver of the other vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and was later sentenced to 6 years in prison for death by dangerous driving. Woods was 12 weeks pregnant with their child at the time of the accident.
Only a couple of weeks after the Oscars that she and Lysandra watched. She does the maths and realises this is his first film since then and thinks she knows what Fenrys meant.
Fucking shit.
Her second day of shooting goes better than the first, just as Fenrys said it would.
She’s more relaxed when she crosses the set from her trailer with a coffee in hand and she thinks she knows her place a little better now, even after only one night spent with the others.
She lies back while her make up is done, chatting to the make-up artist instead of sitting silently like the day before, and she’s almost ready for the discomfort that her wet hair will bring. The weather adds to the atmosphere of the film, dark and dreary and moody, and she gets why they’re doing it, but it still sucks.
Fenrys is ready when she gets there, and while she’s not avoiding Rowan today after finding out about his… past, she just finds it difficult to look him in the eye knowing what she does. He probably wouldn’t be surprised that she knew, if it’s on Wikipedia it’s public knowledge and they have made jokes about googling each other, but she feels weird in a way that she didn’t learn it from him. It feels intrusive, or invasive, to find out about something like that through Wikipedia.
But even though they bonded somewhat last night, and he greeted her this morning with an easy hey, they’re still not close. No matter that she thinks she might want them to be. She’s trying again to ignore the way she feels drawn to him, the way her eyes seek him out without her permission.
She knows she kills the take. Knows it from the high five Fenrys slaps against her palm once Rowan’s called cut and from the swift nod he offers her when she glances towards him.
There seem to be two Rowan’s too, there’s the award winning director Rowan Whitethorn, and then just Rowan.
Rowan Whitethorn is cool and calculating and distant, quiet while he watches their scene from his place behind the camera, the big black headphones he uses pushed down around his neck. His eyes are as sharp as a hawk’s while he watches for all the minute details of their expressions and any improvements they could make. He doesn’t give her that many she’s pleased to note.
The way he instructs them is impressive, with clear directions and thoughtful analyses. She’s been here two days and she knows how he got the Oscar nomination, he’s scarily intelligent and seems to know exactly what’s off about a performance before she figures it out herself.
The other side to him, the side that is just Rowan is…
Just Rowan is the one she likes more.
She suspects the smile he gives her later, after they’ve nailed the bulk of the scene in one take and she’s being twirled around by Fenrys, comes from him.
She has two full days off in a row, and she decides the best use of her time is to go and stay with Aedion and Lysandra. Fenrys isn’t free, and the reason she is is that he has a load of solo scenes to shoot, and she doesn’t envy him at all.
Lysandra is ecstatic when she announces via a group text to her and Aedion that she’ll be at their house for lunchtime, and she loves it, but it makes her feel a little guilty. That she’s let it get to the point when her friend reacts like that at her promise of a visit is quite frankly appalling, but she finally feels as if she’s taken the first step. She’s on the bottom rung of the ladder, and it’s taken her a while, but she’s there now.
Aedion and Lysandra live in a disgustingly big house in a gated part of the suburbs, and she knows the house isn’t exactly what they would have chosen in an ideal world, it’s too big and garish and grey, but there are gates by the entrance and 24 hour security.
It still messes with her head that Aedion is that famous. Aedion. Her gangly cousin, always too tall for his own good, who used to pull her hair when they were kids and sneak her extra helpings of cake at family parties before her parents divorced. She doesn’t know that much about football, so little in fact that her dad and Aedion teased her relentlessly for years, but everyone tells her he’s good.
Like really good.
The salary he gets from the Ravens is more than enough proof.
She rings their front door bell and she can hear Lysandra’s quick steps before the big wooden door is pulled open.
Her friend is glowing. Her dark hair falls into waves near the end and her staggeringly beautiful face is free of any make-up and unblemished and dewy. She’s had time to get over the insecurities that come from being friends with Lysandra so it barely phases her as she wraps her arms around her friend.
“I’ve missed you,” she whispers into Lysandra’s hair. It smells like coconut and citrus and just Lysandra.
“I missed you too. So much,” Lysandra sighs as she pulls back, dragging Aelin into the house and shutting the door.
Their hallway is grand and open but there’s a pile of their shoes by the wall and a rack of coats that make it feel more homely. There are framed photos carefully arranged on the sideboard in the entry way that show the two of them with their whole family and all of their friends.
There’s one on there of Aelin and Lysandra at eighteen, their arms thrown tightly around each other while they grin massive, excited smiles at the camera, or more likely Elide behind it. She remembers the day it was taken, Lysandra had signed to her first agency and arranged to move to Rifthold, and they had taken her out to celebrate.
It was around the same time she signed for her first movie, a tiny role with two lines and twenty seconds of screen time but it got the ball rolling with her first proper acting credit, and she’ll never forget it.
A head of golden hair pokes around the kitchen doorway at the end of the hall and she lets her cousin sweep her up into a hug, swinging her up and around so her feet dangle above the floor.
“Alien, we’ve missed you.”
A stupid nickname from when they were young, the kind of young where he thought it was hilarious to replace her name with an extraterrestrial, but it only makes her smile now, squeezing her cousin tight before he puts her back down.
“Yeah, I bet you’ve been lost without me.” She beams at them, taking a moment to soak in how it feels to be with them even as Aedion rolls his eyes. “I’ve missed you both too.”
“Lunch is ready, come on,” Aedion tells her as he takes her case and drags it through the house, leaving it by the bottom of the stairs. It’s then that she spots the frilly pink apron tied around his waist.
“Alright,” she laughs. “I can’t wait to try what the domestic goddess has in store for us.”
Peals of laughter burst out of Lysandra and she grins back at her, forever grateful that they managed to keep their relationship with each other from ever impacting on their relationship with Aelin. At first she had been worried that Aedion and Lysandra would become AedionAndLysandra and that she wouldn’t have a place left with them, but she needn’t have worried, and they worked too well together for Aelin to have ever wished for anything different.
“Gods, shut up,” he mutters, slinging an arm around her shoulders and leading her to the kitchen. “So annoying, both of you.”
She grins as she hears Lysandra smack an overly dramatic kiss to his cheek.
Aedion’s a surprisingly good cook, the lunch he’s made is tasty despite being carefully planned to fit into both his and Lysandra’s strict meal plans. If they’re the cost needed to be able to live in a house like this, Aelin doesn’t want it.
“So,” Aedion says after he’s finished chewing a mouthful. “How are things going?”
He asks it with a gentle kind of sensitivity that she understands what he’s really asking. She knows it’s code for are you still sober? but she also knows he hasn’t asked it because he doubts her. Aedion and Lysandra have always been in her corner, even in her darkest moments they were there.
She never wants to put them through anything like that ever again. Never wants them to experience anything as terrifying as the last night she ever touched a drug. That night, almost a year ago now, will forever be the bottom of her pit. She doesn’t remember much of it, other than the devastation on Aedion’s face as he carried her out of the men’s toilets of a seedy nightclub in Perranth. The way he’d bitten his lip as he picked her up off the sticky floor, pulling the hem of her dress down to cover her underwear where it had ridden up.
The thought makes her sick.
He’d had to skip a game, leading to a bollocking from his coach, but he’d done it for her. Had carried her out of the club and into a car, waiting to take them back to his house. Lysandra had stroked her hair where she lay on the cool tiles of the bathroom floor while Aedion called a doctor to the house. Even through his panic he had thought of her and how little she would want it publicised that she’d been pulled out of a club, off her fucking rocker on whatever substance she’d been given by the lowlives she had fallen in with. She’s really, really lucky that for once Aedion hadn’t been followed by paparazzi.
She takes a sip of her sparkling water before she answers, it feels like all she ever drinks these days and it tastes like shit but it’s worth it if she never reverts back to where she was.
“I’m good.” She’s almost surprised to find that it’s true. “I’m feeling much better.”
She can barely look at them, can barely take the level of subdued joy on their faces.
“We’re glad Aelin, really glad.” Lysandra’s voice is sincere.
“So, how’s the new project going?” Aedion asks her, sensing her discomfort almost immediately.
“That’s good too actually.” It is. It feels good to have something positive to focus on, something that she feels is productive and worth doing. “It’s nice to be back and be busy even if the morning shoots begin disgustingly early. It’s good to be on set, surrounded by it all again and to remember that I can actually do this.”
She stabs her fork through a piece of tomato a little aggressively as she finishes and the look Lysandra shoots her tells her she’s not impressed with the self-deprecation but that she’ll let it slide for now.
“And Fenrys Moonbeam, is he really that good looking in real life?”
Aelin laughs. “More actually, sometimes it's too much.”
“Nice,” Lysandra nods appreciatively.
“Is he alright though?” Ever the overprotective older brother figure, she expected some version of this question from Aedion.
“He’s great. He’s hilarious and it really helps on the long days,” she says before taking her next bite.
“And Rowan Whitethorn’s directing isn’t he? What’s he like?”
Aelin blinks and finishes chewing slowly. “He’s… fine.”
She knows she’s fucked it when Aedion and Lysandra share a look, matching smirks beginning on each of their faces.
“Fine,” Lysandra repeats. “What exactly does fine mean Aelin?”
She purses her lips. “He’s a great director.”
Lysandra rolls her eyes. “And?”
She could probably lie here, they’d probably let it slide if she said some bullshit about how they’ve not spoken much and how she barely knows him, but she honestly needs to talk to someone about this. You know, to set her straight.
“And he’s really hot.”
She’s blushing as Lysandra laughs and Aedion chuckles.
“You’ve got a crush,” Lysandra sing-songs, and when she doesn't respond she says, “Have you got a picture of him? I don’t think I actually know what he looks like.”
She can’t blame Lysandra for that, she’s still kicking herself for not recognising him that day in the hallway, but he was only on screen for a few seconds at the Oscars and it wasn’t long after Sam so it wasn’t like she was paying attention in that way. She still thinks she should have noticed.
She pulls her phone out to find the only picture she has on there with Rowan. She had only taken it this week when they were eating breakfast with Fenrys one morning, in one of the tents that had been set up for them to sit in between takes, and Fenrys had pulled his phone out to snap a photo of her for his Instagram story.
She’d been wrapped up in one of the huge parkas they’re given for the times in between scenes holding her croissant high up in the air when he’d taken it. He’d captioned it she could have dropped her croissant and tagged her, and she’d gained a good few thousand followers. She’s almost at a million and they’re only a couple of weeks into shooting.
She had taken one of him in response and then spun around to force Rowan into a selfie with her, he’d protested but she’d pouted until he relented, grumbling something about actors that she knew he didn’t mean. She didn’t post it anywhere, she kept it to herself and she can’t lie, she’s looked at it way too many times since.
She’s smiling a wide smile, cheeks stuffed full of her croissant and it’s really kind of gross, but the small smile on Rowan’s face makes it bearable. More than bearable, she has to resist the temptation to make it her lock screen because that would be weird.
She remembers the heat of his chest where he had stood behind her to lean down so their faces were level, the hand he rested on her shoulder to steady himself and the way his fingers had brushed against her neck in the lightest caress.
She hands the phone over to Lysandra and wants to pull it back almost immediately.
It’s not that she’s embarrassed or whatever, even if they think it’s a bad idea they’d let her down gently, it's just that their opinion matters to her a lot. And while they haven’t exactly approved of her string of random hookups in the years since Sam, they’ve never tried to comment on it other than to check she’s in a good place with it, but she knows they’re waiting for the next person she sees seriously.
There’s a fairly large part of her that thinks her first relationship since Sam shouldn’t be with her boss. And that fucks her up a bit, because since when was she considering a relationship with him?
“Oh yeah,” Lysandra says, scaring away the intrusive thought and raising one perfectly arched eyebrow. “He’s hot alright.”
Aedion nods along, peering over Lysandra’s shoulder. Lysandra’s eyes are far too knowing when she looks back up at Aelin and passes the phone over. She doesn’t say a word before locking the phone and sliding it back into her pocket.
“You’ll have to invite us to set sometime.” Lysandra is sneaky but not subtle.
“I will,” she agrees.
The next week flies by, she shoots every single day but one, and she’s far too exhausted each night to do anything other than scrounge up a measly meal that can be pulled together from her cupboard basics and the limited vegetables in her fridge before falling straight asleep. They’ve made good progress so far, and she knows it's going to be good, but she’s tired.
She’s seen a lot more of the process outside of her own character by now too, and she’s amazed, but not surprised, when she persuades one of the crew to let her watch back one of Fenrys’ solo scenes from the previous week. He’s a phenomenal actor, that much is clear, but she had allowed herself to get caught up in Fenrys as her friend, the happy and funny guy she spends her time with, forgetting the talented and driven lead actor of their movie.
Not that she can forget it in the scenes they share, but she’s mostly concentrating on the emotions her character is going through, and responding to what Fenrys gives her. It almost feels too natural for him, and she forgets that it takes work.
His text meets her at lunchtime on the Sunday they both have off, when she’s still in her pyjamas on the couch, debating whether to start a new series or watch the latest cheesy rom-com that Netflix has released.
She auditioned for one of them a couple of years ago, and she’s far enough past the bitterness that comes with not getting the role that she could enjoy it. Maybe a little, cynical part of herself thinks she’s glad she didn’t get it. What she has now is far better. She’s being a snob, but she straight up doesn’t care. It’s not like anyone else is here to judge her.
Fancy coming to Rowan’s to watch the game? I’m leaving in 20 his text reads.
She didn’t plan on doing anything today, but the invitation sparks something in her, and she’s never been to Rowan’s place before. The studio put him in a house about thirty minutes from set, and she’s curious. How much luxury does the big name director get compared to what she and Fenrys have got? She’s lucky really, that Dorian managed to negotiate the same for her as they offered Fenrys.
rowan’s??? She replies, followed by what game????
She gets up off the couch, putting the lid on the tub of yoghurt she was tucking into with a spoon and walking through to the kitchen to throw it back into the fridge.
Tall, grumpy guy that bosses us around all the time comes through a minute later and she grins at her phone at the description. It’s followed up by Ravens v Panthers.
She taps out, getting changed will be ready in 15 and he replies with three smiling emojis.
She doesn’t think it will be anything fancy if her impromptu invitation is anything to go by so she only swaps her pyjama bottoms with tiny cartoon sheep down the legs for a pair of black leggings and throws a sweatshirt over her oversized t-shirt.
Manon is there when they get there, sprawled across the two seater sofa at the far side of Rowan’s living room, and she gives them both a wave when they enter the room. The house is a pretty modest, two-up two-down in a sweet neighbourhood and it’s cosy inside with relatively modern decor. She doesn’t know for sure whether or not that fits Rowan, but she feels like it does.
He doesn’t let them in, Fenrys swings the door open and marches in like it’s his own place and she wonders how much he and Rowan have hung out, or whether that’s just him. Rowan appears in the doorway about a minute after they come in, a bowl of snacks in his hand that she thinks could be popcorn and he puts it down before coming over to wrap Fenrys in a hug. They slap each other on the back in the way that guys do before pulling back.
Aelin stands at Fenrys’ side watching the exchange, unsure whether to greet Rowan or just take a seat, and once they’re done he seems to regard her with the same sort of uncertainty. Fenrys darts around Rowan to throw himself onto the other sofa and she doesn’t give herself long enough to doubt her decision before she opens her arms and steps towards him.
“Hey,” he says simply as he wraps her into a brief hug. “Thanks for coming.”
She wraps her arms around his own broad shoulders, and it feels nice. He’s warm and strong beneath her hands and the way his arms loop around her waist, so far his hands reach back around to her stomach, gets her in a way that she really doesn’t need to think about. It feels really good pressed up against him like that.
“Hey,” she breathes as he pulls back, and she knows he sees the blush on her cheeks. She’s not fifteen, she really needs to sort herself out. “Thanks for having us.”
“Of course, make yourself at home.” He gives her another half smile, offering a flash of his straight, white teeth, and again she’s struck by him. That his place is behind the camera is a crime. “I’ve got more snacks and drinks in the kitchen if you want.”
“Beer?” Fenrys asks her, already heading to a door that she assumes leads to the kitchen.
She shakes her head, “do you have sparkling water?” She directs the question to Rowan who nods.
He doesn’t have to speak before Fenrys says “on it,” and leaves the room.
She assesses the seating choices left in the room, there’s a cream two-seater sofa opposite where Manon lies, and that’s probably her best bet, but Rowan has already taken his seat on it, an ankle crossed over a knee as he settles into the cushions. There’s plenty of room to sit by him and not touch, and she weighs it up against having to ask Manon to move.
She’s friendly with the girl, but still feels slightly intimidated by the calculating and sarcastic blonde despite the fact that she’s a few years younger than Aelin herself, so maybe Rowan is the safer choice.
Fenrys comes back into the room just as she takes her seat.
“Move your feet, Blackbeak,” he demands as he hands her a glass of sparkling water, it’s chilled with a couple of cubes of ice and she appreciates it.
Manon lifts her legs for Fenrys to sit, but plops her legs back down across his lap immediately and sticks her tongue out at him as she does. Aelin feels herself smile at the display, and the fact that she’s included in this circle of friends. She hasn’t really made an effort with anyone new since Sam, the only people she’s really spoken to are Elide, Lysandra and Aedion, and they were all there for her before Sam. It feels really damn good.
She really, really, doesn’t understand the rules of football, but it’s easy enough to cheer along when the others do and laugh at their outrage when something doesn’t go their way. It’s the most animated she’s seen Rowan so far, and she’s not quite sure which way their allegiances lie, but it’s probably with the Ravens being in Rifthold and all, and she knows her own is.
Everytime Aedion gets the ball or is shown on screen she can’t hold back the cheers. She’s proud of him and she knows how hard he works to be as good as he is, and even knowing as little as she does, it's special to watch him excel.
Rowan and Fenrys both seem a little starstruck that he’s her cousin, to her he’s just Aedion and they’re the real, scary celebrities, but they gush about him like starstruck little boys.
“And you were at his house last weekend?” Fenrys cries, almost outraged that this is the first he’s ever heard of it, but honestly? They’re both Ashryvers; it’s not like it's a secret.
“Yes,” she laughs. “He’s basically like my brother.”
“Gods, Aelin.” He sounds almost pained that she hasn’t brought this up before. “You've been holding out on us! Please give me his number or introduce me or something.”
“Sorry.” She laughs again and throws a smile to Rowan that he returns with another quirk of his lips. “Invite me earlier next time and I’ll ask him to sort a box for us at the stadium.”
“Seriously?” Even Rowan sounds awed now.
“Yeah, just let me know,” she says. “It’s no big deal.”
It really wouldn't be, Aedion has been telling her for years to invite any friends she wants to games, she would just need some friends outside of him, Lysandra and Elide first.
“It’s definitely a big deal,” he says, watching her with a smirk still playing on his lips.
She shrugs. “Just make sure you text me early next time.”
“Oh, I will,” he says, and she has to look away from him. The way his voice curves around the words, all low and intense, is definitely about more than just the game.
She tries to pass it off as just looking to where Fenrys is cheering loudly at the next play, but Manon is there again, looking at her with such a knowing expression that she immediately focuses back on the TV.
At half time she needs to use the bathroom and Rowan gives her a quick rundown of the layout of the house. She’s quick to do her thing and runs by the kitchen afterwards to grab a refill of her drink and find something to eat.
Rowan had told them all to help themselves, explaining that he felt they had as much right as he to poke through the cupboards in the only just filled rental property and she gets it. The places the studio rent out for them are nice enough, and she’s more than grateful that they do, but it’s never quite home. Even if her home is somewhat impersonal, it’s still home.
She’s on her tiptoes, scanning through the relatively well stocked cupboards on the hunt for anything chocolate, when someone enters the kitchen behind her.
“I know I said help yourselves, but you’re going to eat me out of house and home at this rate.”
It’s Rowan, and he leans against the doorframe as he watches her startle and spin to face him, his legs are crossed at the ankles and his arms are folded over his chest. The pose highlights his powerful arms that she wants to be wrapped up in again and he looks really good in the dim lighting of the kitchen. It bounces off the lines of his tattoo, shining and highlighting the swirls that she can barely look away. She wants to ask what it means.
Aelin scoffs and pushes the cupboard door shut gently, they’re not eating that much and if they are it’s definitely not her, Fenrys and Manon are another story.
“There’s nothing stopping you from kicking us all out,” she says and he laughs, shaking his head.
He tilts his head to the side, his gaze picking her apart by the second before he says “maybe not all of you.”
His words and the way he shifts in the doorway as his eyes run her up and down gives her the confidence to bite her lip and look up at him through her lashes. He pushes off the door frame and comes to lean against the counter by her side.
He opens a cupboard door on her other side and rummages through a shelf before handing her a foil packet.
“I have a feeling this is what you were after.”
She accepts the chocolate and tucks it onto the counter at her side as she mirrors him and leans against it too.
“Unsurprisingly, you’d be correct.”
He presses his lips together before his lips twist again, it’s the same expression from before that she knows means he wants to smile but he can’t quite commit, and she feels her body loosen like she wants to lean forward to press into him. She doesn’t though.
What she does instead is take a sharp breath and a step back. “Thanks.” She waves the bar of chocolate in the air before stepping around him and making her way back into the living room, forcing her steps to seem calm and collected as she feels his gaze heavy on her back.
“Anytime.” His words follow her out of the room, they’re a promise.
Luckily, Fenrys and Manon both ignore it when Rowan follows her and retakes his place next to her.

‘Oldies are doing well’ Phyllis Logan hails older generations as Downton helps BritsDOWNTON Abbey star Phyllis Logan says it was “fabulous” to be reunited with the cast and production crew to shoot a second film due out early next year. The sequel follows on from the events of the first film released two years ago, which was set in 1927 with Robert and Cora Crawley, the Earl and Countess of Grantham, receiving a visit from King George V and Queen Mary during a royal tour of Yorkshire. Filming of the second film, which sees Dominic West, Hugh Dancy and Laura Haddock join original stars including Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery and Elizabeth McGovern, started at Highclere Castle in Hampshire in April and finished in June. Phyllis, 65, who has portrayed Downton housekeeper Mrs Hughes in all six series of the original ITV drama and reprised the role for both films, said: “It was fabulous to be reunited with the cast again, we had such a lovely time, but it was over far too quickly. “During the six seasons that we did (for TV) we usually started filming in the February and finished in the autumn, so we had a good six months of each other, and now it is curtailed into a matter of weeks, so it was done a bit too quickly but we had a great time. “There is lots of nice, really fun stuff in it, I must say and some lovely star turns.” Phyllis, who is also the narrator of fly-on-the-wall TV show The Highland Vets, which starts its fourth series on Channel 5 tomorrow (MON) night, believes period dramas like Bridgerton and Downton have provided much-needed escapism during the past 18 months of the Covid-19 pandemic. She says: “With the likes of Downton Abbey it looks so magnificent, the costumes are magnificent and the mores of the time are different where you don’t air-kiss and have to be suited and booted, and straight-laced, well certainly outwardly.. who knows what they got up to behind closed doors. “But we try to show some of this too and the public just can’t get enough of this type of costume drama. “Everyone has been bingeing or re-bingeing on their favourite shows just to give them a sense of normality. “If you can watch Bridgerton, if you can watch Downton Abbey, or your favourite comedy show, you think the world is ok now, or get a sense that life is continuing in a fashion.” Downton has also led the way in using older actors in prominent roles at a time when TV and film has been criticised for being ageist. Phyllis says: “It’s been fabulous and long may this continue. With Dame Maggie (Smith), Dame Penelope (Wilton), myself and Jim Carter, the oldies are doing well.” Her husband Kevin McNally, who is also 65, is best known for portraying Joshamee Gibbs in all five Pirates of the Caribbean films but joined the cast of Downton for its second series on ITV as Horace Bryant. Phyllis says: “It was nice to have my husband in Downton as well but it was very peculiar the way it happened. “He was on set at one point and said I have just been offered this job and I said ‘oh, what is it?’ And he said Downton Abbey, and I said ‘very funny, what’s the job?’ And he said Downton Abbey and I said ‘oh come on, I haven’t got time, I’ve got to go back on set’. And he was being serious. “They did not even tell me they were going to offer it to him and I thought they should have run it past me first, surely.” She adds: “And it ended up with most of the scenes we were involved in being together, which was unusual. “In normal circumstances as he was playing a posh person and I was playing the housekeeper as usual, I thought our paths would never cross but the way the storyline worked we were always together. “So sometimes we got picked up in a car together to bring us to the castle and it felt like ‘bring your husband to work day’, so I thought ‘what is going on?’” Phyllis, who also starred as Lady Jane Felsham in Lovejoy with Ian McShane for eight years, met Kevin, who portrayed Bernard Ingham in The Crown last year, when they co-starred in mini-series Love and Reason in 1994. Since then they had only appeared together in short films and an episode of comedy show Rab C Nesbitt until their joint stint in Downton, but Phyllis says she would be happy to work together again in the future. And Kevin’s help was vital when it came to recording the narration for The Highland Vets, which follows the vets, nurses and receptionists at DS McGregor & Partners veterinary practice in Thurso, Caithness, as they treat animals in the remote northern tip of the UK mainland. After recording the first couple of episodes of series one in a studio in London’s Soho, Phyllis has been forced to do her narrations since the first lockdown in March last year from the study of her home in west London. She says: “Kevin was my sound engineer for the Highland Vets. They sent all this equipment and I was so useless at using it that Kevin was thankfully around and on hand to be my sound engineer.” The fourth series of the Highland Vets, which contains seven hour-long episodes, starts with the vets treating a young Common seal spotted struggling on a beach by a walker. She adds: “I haven’t done many narrations. I enjoy this one because it is such a lovely programme, there is always something different cropping up, so it is a pleasure to do it.” As a result of the repeated lockdowns for the pandemic she has yet to travel up to Caithness to meet the staff at the vets. But Prince Charles did pay them a visit during a two-day tour of Scotland, where he is known as the Duke of Rothesay, at the end of last month (JULY). Unfortunately the TV cameras were not there at the time but wearing a kilt, he was welcomed by senior vet and director Guy Gordon, who introduced him to his team, including Katie Reiss, 22, who had only started work a few days earlier. Ms Reiss said: “It’s an unorthodox start to work! We spoke about my training at Edinburgh University and chatted about how the vets have been really helpful integrating me into work. “He (Charles) said to stick at it and not lose hope because I have wanted to be a vet since I was a wee kid.” Guy says: “We felt honoured that Prince Charles was keen to visit our veterinary practice to meet the staff and learn about what we do. “He stayed with us for about 45 minutes chatting about aspects of our work with genuine interest and insight. “The light drizzle didn’t dampen this special occasion nor cause him to hurry, he took time to engage with everyone. “So they have the royal seal of approval.” She adds she loves getting to see The Highland Vets before anyone else to do its narration. “There are a few sad bits that do not go to plan but it is so heartfelt.. and the fact that they are in that location which is absolutely spectacular, that they all love it, they love their lives, their jobs, their workmates, their animals. “It’s just beautiful and lovely and life-affirming stuff, even when things go wrong.” Phyllis also stars in a film, The Last Bus, with Timothy Spall which they shot two years ago but has just been released. It tells the story of an old man whose wife has just died using his free bus pass to travel to the other end of the UK, where they originally lived, with her ashes in a small suitcase. She will also be seen in the second series of BBC drama Guilt, which is due to air later this year. *The new series of The Highland Vet starts tomorrow at 9pm on 5Select. Source: Sunday Express

More Than Meets the Eye #33: In Which I Write the Word ‘Quantum‘ 19 Times
Dang, I forgot what happened at the end of the last issue. It was pretty important, too, but I don’t have time to reread. Maybe the establishing shot can help me out?
Oh, that’s right, Rewind happened!
Everyone’s pretty jazzed that Rewind is here, non-exploded, and supposedly alive. Megatron carries this ridiculously small man over to a table, while Skids is busy admonishing Nightbeat for trying to put the pieces of this mystery together.
That’s one of the two first canonically, openly gay Transformers, Megatron. You bet your ass he’s important.
Nightbeat’s dragged Nautica over to look at that poster for Crosscut’s play they saw last issue. Together, they discover something interesting, and it’s not that Nightbeat’s chin has elongated to the point of absurdity. On this future ship, the play was completed and produced a mere few weeks after the initial launch of the Lost Light.
While this is going on, Rewind wakes up and asks Skids what the hell is going on. Skids, likely not wanting to poke at farm-fresh trauma, glosses over the fact that everyone on this ship was violently murdered, and that they found Rewind blacked out inside the hollowed torso of his brother-in-law.
…This is a dark story line.
You see, the joke here is that “Dark Cybertron” sucked major chrome.
Megatron reminds everyone that they’re still in grave danger every moment they stay aboard this ship, but Skids is more concerned with Rewind’s mental health. Which is sweet, but maybe not the thing to prioritize in such a precarious situation.
Rewind takes the fact that Megatron is an Autobot now pretty friggin’ well, as well as the introduction of gender into his species. That is, until Nightbeat, the king of social graces, saunters up to the scene to ask Rewind what the hell happened to the ship. He does get his answers, despite Rewind being horrified to the point of speechlessness.
Over at the hole in the wall, Nautica and Riptide are taking a gander at the quantum drums, which house the quantum foam for the quantum engines so quantum jumps can happen.
As Nautica explains the process by which quantum travel works, she realizes that the answer to what happened to everyone who disappeared was right in front of them this whole time.
Quantum, quantum, quantum- doesn’t even sound like a word anymore, does it?
The data slug Rewind made corroborates this theory, showing a series of events that definitely didn’t happen to the Lost Light we’ve been following throughout this story so far. The data slug contains this Rewind’s version of dead Rewind’s “Little Victories”, the travelogue that was never completed, where the question “are you happy?” revealed just how emotionally unhealthy most of the crew is. I’d like to imagine this Rewind’s film is called “Small Achievements”, or perhaps “Dear Fucking Lord, We’ve Been on this Trip for Three Hours and the Captain Has Been Killed by a Goddamned Soul-Vampire”, or maybe even “Where the FUCK is Our Therapist”.
The DJD came into the equation by way of someone having led them to the Lost Light. We get a flashback panel of the gorefest, in which Tarn appears to have learned how to fly, given the angle he’s coming from.
Because Rewind’s big thing in this series is being the guy who records stuff, the DJD take the opportunity to make some movies of their visit to the space yacht.
James, why do you keep getting Rewind involved with snuff films? I’m starting to get concerned.
Now, the thing about Rewind is that he’s almost always accompanied by his other half. Where is Chromedome, anyway?
He’s dead, that’s where.
Turns out, when you tell the DJD that you won’t do the thing they want you to do, they have a habit of doing nasty things in retaliation. Chromedome got stabbed in the friggin’ visor with his own finger needles, because Vos enjoys ironic deaths, I suppose. There’s some other stuff that’s implied to have happened, but we’ll get to that once we learn a little more about the DJD themselves.
While Rewind recounts the grisly tale of his husband’s demise, Riptide notes that the quantum foam has begun to spread at a remarkable rate. This is a bad thing, because that shit can and will explode, given half the chance, and this wreck is floating right above a potentially-inhabited planet.
Though I could have sworn we established that this planet was a Smartplanet, and therefore very much populated by students and staff. I don’t know. Maybe we conveniently forgot that, so we could make this a learning moment for Megatron.
Jiminy Christmas, Megs, do you even listen to yourself?
Skids, who has had a very long day of finding corpses and learning about quantum theory, snaps at Megatron, telling him that in order to actually be an Autobot, you have to have a little frickin’ compassion for those outside of your peer group.
Which is sort of contradictory to the Aequitas trials, the Killswitch debacle, the POW situation back on Cybertron, and whatever the fuck Prowl’s whole deal is, but maybe Skids is speaking about his own, personal relationship with being an Autobot. Hopefully so, otherwise he needs a class on critical thinking, STAT.
Never mind all of that though, because the problem just got a lot worse- the quantum foam has expanded to a point where any holes in the stuff are too small for the Rod Pod to get through. We’re going to have to get creative if we want to save the day.
Luckily, we’ve got a quantum duplicate of just about the tiniest little dude in the franchise here to do the job. Now we just need another, equally tiny little man, so the quantum drums can be shut off at the same time. Nautica commits more microaggressions, and this gives Getaway inspiration for a witty quip, which in turn gives Skids a brilliant idea.
The gang heads down to Brainstorm’s lab, to look for the mass displacement gun that was used for treating Ultra Magnus’s nanocon infestation back in the 2012 Annual. While they search, Nautica explains just why the hell the Lost Light disappeared in the first place. You see, quantum duplication acts on the Cain Instinct— it’s fine, as long as the duplicates don’t perceive each other. However, the moment contact is made, it says “oh man, guess I’m gonna have to end you” to one of the duplicates. The contact in this case happened when the Coffin Rodimus was brought aboard the ship.
Anything that wasn’t aboard the Lost Light at the point of the takeoff/explosion was never duplicated, and thus wasn’t erased from reality once shit started going to hell. This is why the Rod Pod is still around, and why the remaining cast are— well, the remaining cast.
While this conversation is going on, Nautica and Nightbeat uncover yet another dead body; it’s Brainstorm, and he’s a little underdressed.
…Someone run a paternity test, I think Cyclonus might be the father.
Also, Brainstorm’s a double agent.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1f3c2ecf74c52a0cc2983bcf82b7fb33/4848ab123b1a3230-9a/s540x810/2535a21207ecc69434aed2a7a7cd3993749233ec.jpg)
Fucked up.
Getaway is furious that a Decepticon has been living on the same ship as him for the last six months, right under his proverbial nose. Even Megatron’s surprised, stating that Brainstorm isn’t usually who the recruiters aim for.
So, no mass displacement gun, and now they’re aware of the fact that there’s a traitor on the ship who’s had access to a LOT of weapon tech. It’s at this point that Megatron decides to stop lying by omission and tells everyone that he can mass-displace, since he used to turn into a handgun.
Smashcut to Megatron and Rewind floating out in space, the former now not much taller than the latter, as they traverse the web of quantum foam to get to the drums. Nautica instructs them from the Rod Pod. If this works, anything produced or connected to the quantum engine will be neutralized, and maybe we’ll even get the other Lost Light back! YAAAAAY!!!
Y’all really let this man go out there to fuckin’ kill himself for the greater good, didn’t you?
Rewind is honestly pretty chill with ceasing to be, seeing as he watched 200/+ people die today, including his long-time spouse.
Jesus. I’d say get him a therapist, but in order to do that, we’re going to have to wipe him off the map anyway.
Rewind asks Megatron if the Chromedome that isn’t his and his duplicate are still together. And I mean…
Luckily, Megatron has the good sense to lie.
With that, they flip the switches, and deactivate the drums.
And that’s a series wrap on Rewind! Congrats to Mr. James Roberts for the esteemed honor of burying the same gay twice!
Later on, everyone is back inside the Rod Pod, as their disappeared shipmates return from being nonexistent. Chromedome pops back in, and Skids is on him like a shark, telling him to go on the roof. Skids doesn’t even try to explain why. Which, fair. How the hell do you explain to someone that their dead husband’s quantum duplicate survived both a terrorist splinter cell attack, and the laws of quantum sci-fi bullshit crashing down on his tiny, tiny body, and that he’s right there on the roof waiting for them?
Welp, there goes the Chromedome/Dominus endgame. Shame, that.
Looks like Chromedome finally hit the threshold for having earned Roberts’ pity, and won’t be directly targeted by the plot for a little while. This isn’t something you see very often, so let’s really soak this in.
…Someone had to have told Rewind what happened to the other Rewind, right? I wonder what that conversation was like.
Back inside the ship, Blaster gets word that the Lost Light has reappeared. As they navigate towards it, Megatron requests that an encrypted call be made to Rodimus, to discuss the Brainstorm problem.
In the interim, Ravage is offered the opportunity to be a part of the crew, so he doesn’t have to keep skulking around in the shadows. We don’t get an answer from him, as our focus shifts over to Nightbeat and Nautica.
Nightbeaaaaaaaaaat, stop stating the themes of the comic verbatim! People are going to start thinking you’re a shonen anime protagonist!
Nightbeat’s somehow managed to keep ahold of the briefcase that they found on the other Lost Light. Unless Brainstorm’s boyfriend is in there, I don’t think this one was the work of Huey Lewis and the News’ hit single from the Back to the Future soundtrack.
Over on the Lost Light, specifically in Swerve’s, Brainstorm’s making his way through the crowd, briefcase held gentle like hamburger as he goes. He makes it to the bar, where Atomizer tells him he can’t have his briefcase in here. Brainstorm has what most would accept to be a healthy response to being told “no.”

It’s what I would do.

MLQC CN Victor - Chapter 37
SPOILER ALERT!!
A main story from CN server which hasn’t been released in EN server. REALLY contains detailed spoilers. A mixed feelings such angst, sweet and love-his-dummy by CEO Victor!
PART 1
Downstairs LFG, the film crew is still busy in an orderly manner.
A month ago, LFG launched an unprecedented charity project, mobilizing all the resources of the group, and watching the last moment before the arrival of the comet group with all mankind.
In addition to regular material donations, psychological counseling, and medical assistance, there is also a special item one wish list.
In the last issue of "Miracle Finders", we selected this subject for reporting.
Photographer: Everyone pay attention, go one first, and prepare the light for one-
Teenager: Ok, can I just say the words directly?
Willow: To put it straight, there is nothing to worry about, we can do it again, let's do it again!
The teenager was encouraged, and smiled and showed two small teeth.
Teenager: I am seventeen years old. I am an ordinary high school student. Although you can't see it now, I have lived in darkness for these seventeen years.
Teenager: Due to chromosomal abnormalities, I have suffered from congenital blindness since birth...
Teenager: The doctors all said that despite the advanced level of medical technology, they are still helpless against such diseases and hope that I will accept the reality.
Teenager: But I still don't give up. I don't want to usher in death without actually seeing the world, so I contacted LFG Group with the last hope!
Just as the teenager expected, LFG quickly found a Healer Evolver on the Island, and treated him so that he finally saw the light.
Teenager: Although I can only look at the world for a short time, how many times in a person's life can I witness miracles happen? I am very satisfied!
After he finished speaking, he gave everyone a young and a little embarrassed smile. The beautiful dark eyes are full of light, especially bright in the night.
MC: ... That's nice.
Until the last moment, miracles continued to happen.
I raised my head and looked at the towering LFG Building in front of me, thinking back to Victor when he started the project and jokingly said-
"I hope everyone can be like an idiot, as long as they fulfill their wishes, they will be happy." The tone couldn't help but felt a moment of surprise.
I hope that the last issue of "Miracle Finders" will produce satisfactory answers to him.
With emotion, I strode into the LFG Building.
--
At this time, most of LFG's staff has left, and most of the work spaces in the building have been vacated.
Even if some are still willing to suspend their posts and help Victor handle some charity projects, they are no longer sitting here and only exchange information via phone and email.
Goldman: I have been waiting for you for a long time!
I was still in a daze, and Goldman came over with aggrieved expression. Probably because I told him that I was almost there an hour ago, but I didn’t come up because shooting for most of the day in the downstairs town.
As soon as he saw me appear, he cast a "God finally" look.
Goldman: The CEO handed it to you, I'm going to prepare for the next meeting.
He hurriedly put the previously prepared contract into my hand, lightly approached the door of the CEO's office, and knocked the door.
Victor: Come in.
Hearing Victor's voice coming from behind the door, I quickly hid the hand holding the contract behind my back.
Goldman opened the door halfway and walked in.
Goldman: CEO, can we conduct an induction interview now?
Victor: Interview? When is it scheduled?
Goldman: Yesterday, I remember it was in your schedule.
After a short silence, Victor gave instructions indifferently.
Victor: Bring it in.
I strode forward, held back a sneer, and stood still in front of Victor. Before speaking, Goldman hurriedly took the door out, leaving a room of silence.
MC: Hello, CEO! I am the candidate for interview today!
I said hello to Victor very politely, and even bowed symbolically, with a sincere expression when I raised my head.
Victor: ....
Victor let out a sigh of relief, as if he had lifted his spirits from a long and exhausting work, and couldn't help but laugh when he met my sincere gaze.
MC: Reporting to the CEO, although I have limited work experience, I am active in doing things.
MC: The CEO of the most ruthless venture capital company in the industry has won a 500 million investment!
MC: Moreover, the level of stress resistance is first-rate, no matter how big the challenge is, how many plans are rejected, you can face the difficulties!
MC: In addition, I am quite familiar with LFG's business and can start working in a short time.
Victor sighed lightly, probably because I was too noisy.
Victor: Only you can make such boastful remarks without blushing at all. You come to LFG, don't care about your company?
MC: The final issue of "Discovering the Miracle" will soon be filmed, and sister Anna will be responsible for the remaining post-production work. I don't need to worry about it anymore.
MC: I always find a place to shine and heat, right?
MC: Or I have to be a rice bug for a month...
MC: In short, I am especially willing to share the worries and problems for the CEO
Victor touched his lips slightly, revealing a smile.
Victor: Didn't you often say that being a rice bug is your ultimate dream? Now that you have a chance to realize your dream, but you are not willing?
He was so eloquent, so that scenes of past scenes of bluffing and saying that I didn't want to go to work really appeared before me.
MC: But I have already changed my dreams.
I stepped forward two more steps, narrowed the distance with Victor, and stared quietly into his eyes
MC: My dream now is to be with you.
The outline of Victor's smile on the corners of his lips curled up, and his expression sank duplicity, and put out the CEO's frame in a serious manner.
Victor: LFG’s attendance system is strict, and the consequences of absence are serious. Be mentally prepared.
I walked up to him, took out the contract that had been hidden behind my back, and unfolded it on the table.
MC: I won't be absent, I will do what you say.
Speaking softly, pressing his usual fountain pen directly on the contract, it seemed to be "forcing the signing".
MC: If I can't do it... I will be punished.
Victor hastily flipped through the contract, which was only a few pages long, and paused as his gaze passed by the post.
Victor: Confirmed?
MC: Yes!
I deserved to be confident and without any explanation. Victor raised his head and looked at me with a clear smile in his eyes. He turned the contract another page.
Victor: The contract is valid for three years.
MC: Huh? It should be the contract template copied by Goldman, right? Renew after the three-year period expires!
Victor neatly signed his name on the last page, stood up and took my hand.
Victor: Let's go, the meeting is about to begin.
MC: What meeting? Wait, am I going to work as soon as I start?
Victor: According to the contract, every minute of yours belongs to me, and it takes effect immediately.
Is there such an unequal clause? Goldman's drafting of a contract is quite tricky
MC: You capitalists are squeezing employees too much!
Victor was slightly late to me, with a smile on his lips.
Victor: Well, capitalists are like this.
The conference room was already full of people, only the first two seats were still empty.
One of them is where Victor often sits.
I remember when I came to LFG for a meeting for the first time, I could only sit on the small bench in the corner and couldn't see his face even when I stretched out my head.
Victor: let's start.
I sat down next to Victor, glanced across the crowd, and leaned silently on the back of the chair.
Goldman opened the prepared PPT and stood in front of us.
Goldman: Now carry out the relevant reports on the work of last week,
PART 2
A sign hung at the door of Souvenir, which said that today is the last day of the restaurant’s business.
MC: Thank you for your preference for this restaurant, Souvenir will permanently close the store
LFG provoked too heavy responsibility, and Victor had no time to take care of Souvenir. I raised my head and looked at the blue light on the TV tower.
During the eternal night, the TV tower is bright yellow during the day and blue at night, marking the day and night. These days, people have been accustomed to measuring time in this way.
It seems that no matter what kind of predicament they are in, as long as there is a moment of peace, people are willing to steal a moment of peace and delay satisfaction.
I am no exception.
With Victor in front of the wind and rain, I even occasionally forget the reality that I am about to face, can let go of all my worries, and be silly in front of him carefree.
If time can be reversed, I can go back to the first time I stood in front of Souvenir...
I lowered my gaze and pushed the door into the restaurant.
MC: Mr. Mills, I
Before I could say hello, I was stunned by the scene before me.
Souvenir, who had always been cold and cold, is now full of voices, all seats are full of seats, even those who have never been before, and he has added new chairs.
Mr. Mills was busy between the tables with a smile on his face.
I hurried over to ask if I need help.
MC: Mr. Mills, shall I do this?
I was about to take the tray from Mr. Mills, but he shook his head hurriedly.
Mr. Mills: No, no, it's going to close in a while, the manager is waiting for you inside.
MC: Alright!
I walked towards the kitchen, and along the way, I was surprised by the food on the guests' table.
Like what the customer wanted to eat, Victor made something for them.
At the last moment, Souvenir's rules are no longer important.
Girl: Mom, this one is delicious, so delicious!
Six or seven-year-old children ate the little cakes with all their faces, holding their little hands and sending the spoons to their mothers, wanting their mothers to taste them too.
The young mother cooperatively ate the cream in the sentence and smiled hesitantly. She gently touched her daughter's head, but her eyes were full of sighs.
The family at the table next door talked about the topic of the younger son's college entrance examination this year, and they were rushing to plan for his future. They seemed to believe that someone would come out to save the world.
I stepped into the restaurant and walked into the back kitchen.
MC: Victor....
He stood at the window with his back straight. There was a deep night outside. I dazzled my eyes to see his black suit melt into the darkness, lonely and silent.
I walked over and pulled his sleeve slightly.
MC: Have you been busy all night?
MC: You can call me over in advance, and I can give you a hand.
Victor: With your culinary skills, you can't match up with Souvenir's back kitchen.
Victor glanced at me from the corner of the light, smiled faintly, and closed the slightly open window.
The moment he raised his hand, I saw that the pointer on his wrist watch was already three o'clock in the morning, but everyone didn't realize that the night was deep.
The world freezes in the dark, making time lose all meaning.
MC: The guests outside all had a good time.
MC: By the way, there was a little cake that a kid ate, with a few blueberries on top, and a layer of soft stuff inside. I don't know if it's ice cream... it looks super delicious!
Faced with my vivid expressions, Victor looked helpless as expected.
Victor: Three year old are not as good as you in eat. A pair of eyes fixed on the food all day long.
MC: Isn't it great? I will eat everything you make clean and happy, and I will change my way to praise your superb cooking skills!
I used an exaggerated tone to learn the child's way of speaking, trying to make Victor smile, but he still looked calm.
Victor: Ah, very good.
Those eyes that met me were as light as water, and they saw an unspeakable feeling in my heart. After he came back, something changed in his eyes.
I can't be sure, but I just faintly feel that the person standing in front of me at this moment is stronger than before but also lonelier than before.
In the past, silence was due to work habits and character.
The silence now means that no matter what you face, you can be calm and calm. The calm is strange.
MC: Victor, seven of the travel coins you gave me have not been exchanged. You said before that you would do everything you promised me.
I changed the subject suddenly, and Victor was still indifferent.
Victor: Seven? Didn't you secretly put a lot in the box again?
MC: … you’re not paying attention.
Victor: Really, when I don't pay attention?
The silence of the night was always reflected in his eyes, brewing the silence deeper.
MC: So you won't break your promise, will you?
MC: Everything you promised me will be honored in the future, right?
Perhaps it was because my words were too impatient to be too direct, Victor finally touched my hair as if calming down, and stepped forward to get closer to me.
The familiar temperature fell on the front of my forehead, which made my panic feelings find support.
Victor: Don't worry, I won't break my promise. Not now, and not in the future.
At this moment, I saw a slight surge of joy in his eyes.
Mr. Mills: Mr. Victor.
Mr. Mills walked in slowly, smiling.
Mr. Mills: Mr. Victor, after proofing today, I would like to continue to look after the restaurant. Please allow me.
Victor: Mr. Mills
Victor took two steps forward and solemnly nodded to Mr. Mills.
Victor : Of course. Over the years, thank you very much for taking care of Souvenir.
Mr. Mills turned to look outside the kitchen.
Mr. Mills: The guests all had a nice evening, and they hoped that I would convey my thanks to the chef.
Victor: It is..
Victor paused slightly and thought of something.
Victor: Excuse me, please take out all the wine in the cellar and give it to the guests tonight.
Mr. Mills: .... I understand. Do you need any congratulations?
Victor turned his head and looked at me, raising the corners of his lips indifferently
Victor: Just thank time for giving us abundant food and accumulated wine... With the feelings that have passed through the years.
Outside the window, the silent snow fell slowly in the dark night. In the cool night breeze in midsummer, a layer of untimely coolness blows off.
PART 3
Victor: Is this your specialty?
MC: Do you look down on tomato scrambled eggs?
Victor did not speak, but frowned slightly to express affirmation.
MC: The scrambled eggs with tomatoes are delicious. You can't judge the taste of a dish by its difficulty. I feel wronged for him.
When the Haikou that I once boasted was fulfilled, I vowed to make a rich meal for Victor.
Victor probably feels a headache for me to prepare a home-cooked meal and have to put out ten kinds of kitchen utensils...
He has been standing in the kitchen supervising the work since the beginning, and I don't know if he's afraid of what would happen to the kitchen or what'd happen to me .
MC: Can you stop staring at me like this, I'm nervous.
Victor: What is the guilty conscience?
MC: It feels like waiting for you to approve the plan.
MC: I dropped the eggshells into the bowl when I was beating the eggs just now, I was thinking that you must spit me out.
Victor took out a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet and unsealed it skillfully.
Victor: I'm used to it as you are.
I dealt with the ingredients in my hand and smiled without saying a word.
In the fireplace in the living room, the wood made a snapping sound under the lick of the tongue of fire, and it sang softly to the piano music from the record.
The fine snow outside the window disappeared into the night as soon as it fell to the ground, and time seemed extremely long at this moment.
I carefully handled the ingredients in my hand, and did not notice Victor's gaze.
He put down the wine glass, the glass collided with the marble countertop, and there was a pleasant sound.
At this moment, the night snow stopped in the air, and the fire and the record were speechless. The whole world stopped, and everything was quiet.
Victor: If I let time eternally stop at this moment, would you think I am selfish?
He murmured, as if asking himself or answering himself.
Staring silently at her profile for a while, he stretched out his hand and silently hugged her in his arms.
This is an overly tender hug, without a trace of strong attitude, even the palms that are close to the back appear cautious
MC: Victor...
I stretched out my hand and hugged him tightly without leaving any gap.
Victor took a breath, as if he didn't expect that I would break away from his Evol, but didn't say anything.
MC: If I were not the dignified Queen, I would be completely controlled by you. Your Evol is stronger than I imagined.
He laughed and teased me helplessly.
Victor: It's amazing.
Although he was smiling, I heard a dumb sigh in his voice, so I opened my arms as much as possible to hold him tighter.
MC: Not even...
I stayed securely in his arms, with no intention of leaving this embrace.
MC: It’s just that I always remember the reason why I want to fully awaken, because I don’t want to let you bear everything. Always remember.
This dinner took longer than expected. When we sat down on the sofa in front of the fireplace with red wine, the night was already almost reaching the sky.
For all this time, I have a lot to say to him.
Whether it is the heated discussions in the recent issues of "Discover Myself" or the process of LFG helping people realize their wishes one after another, I am deeply moved.
A couple wanted to go to a very famous sea island to watch the sunset before the end. Unexpectedly, before the trip, the island disappeared overnight.
MC: In fact, I also feel that it was a pity that I couldn't help them realize their wishes. I had seen that island before on the Internet.
MC: At that time, it was also selected as one of the "Top Ten Scenic Spots to Go to Before the End", I did not expect to be submerged by the sea so soon...
Victor: This is what you often say, do what you think of, and don't leave any regrets for yourself. Sometimes impatient fools can do things that many people can't.
I listened to every detail and smile in his voice, and my fingertips drew across the texture of the leather on the sofa.
The more I get to this kind of time, the more I feel that even his laughter seems precious.
MC: But I was a little surprised. The wishes that everyone wants to achieve before the end are so simple.
MC: Look at the light, look at the world, eat a delicious meal with the most important person.
Victor: What people really want has always been very simple. Before that, it was only controlled by desire.
Victor: No matter how long this moment of tranquility can last, for many people, it is enough to enjoy the life they still have.
MC: It is not easy to find the true desire in the heart.
Victor put the empty glass on the coffee table.
Victor: What about you? What is your wish?
After drinking a few glasses of wine, my thoughts were empty. I only heard his low and hoarse voice falling in my ears, and many pictures flashed before my eyes.
MC: I want to see your heart.
I turned to Victor and wanted to find the answer to this question very seriously.
MC: I want to see the real Victor. Without the burden of the CEO, there is no need to worry about the world...
MC: I can put down all the responsibilities on my shoulders, just be yourself... In this way Victor, What will it be like?
He paused for a few seconds, but quickly laughed faintly.
Victor: People cannot put aside all the past and responsibilities independently. In front of you, Victor will always be the most true.
I turned to him, stared at his deep eyes carefully, then stretched out my hand and slowly touched the position of his heart.
When the five fingers fell slowly, I already felt the warmth under his shirt.
A little closer, and the fingertips rubbed the texture of the shirt, and soon, my palm felt the rhythm of his heartbeat warm and powerful.
Victor: ...
With a sigh, Victor reached out and held my fingertips lightly.
Suddenly, the scene before me changed.
PART 4
This is a space I have never seen before.
The solitary galaxy and the dazzling sunlight are constantly flashing in front of my eyes, just like every ray of time that has been inscribed in memory, the brilliance of the moment only flashes, making it impossible to capture.
MC: Victor
He was sitting in the seat directly in front of me, proud and lonely.
All the changes in the stars passed through his silent and deep eyes, and he just stared lightly.
Time passed, he had been sitting like this, his back was straight, his eyes were firm, and he was silent without a word, yet he caught every light and shadow in his eyes.
He seemed to had been sitting here for thousands of years.
For a while, my heart felt like being held down by a deep sea-like loneliness, which made me breathless. After a slight pause, I walked along the long carpet to him.
I squatted down in front of him and looked up at him.
He lowered his head and met my gaze, as if waking up from a long wait, with loose eyebrows at the corners of his eyes.
I stretched out my hand, my fingertips slowly climbed over the edge of his slender finger, and squeezed him from the gap between the slightly bent fingers.
At this moment, I recovered, seeing Victor's eyes reflected in the fire of the fireplace.
We don't know since when we clasp our fingers together and hold our hands together.
In a silent night, only the firewood was still snapping.
MC: Victor, are you tired?
Victor: What do you mean?
MC: Everything.
*All the fatigue of endlessly walking through the timeline, all the tragedy you had to witness, all the pain that you had to bear, all the hopes that you've repeatedly dashed countless times .
MC: You said that it is enough to enjoy your current life before the end. You already know the ending, understand the truth, or do you want to move on?
Victor: Not enough.
Victor spoke softly, but every word made a sound.
Victor: I am not someone who can transcend desires, I also have my own desires.
He doesn't need to say anything, I already know everything.

I curled up on the sofa, silently nestled in his arms, clasped his waist tightly with my hands, and fell on his sturdy chest.
Victor pulled the blanket and put a light hand on my shoulder.
With fire light and falling snow, the sound of two hearts beating is clear.
I know that I am embracing the most real Victor, the extremely real Victor.
PART 5
Time passed quietly, and it came to the last moment.
The whole city is shining bright neon under our feet. Busy and calm-as usual, as if we can wait for every night in the morning light.
MC: Victor, when you brought me here for the first time, did you expect the world to become like this?
Victor shook his head.
MC: So what was the anxiety in your heart when you stood here?
Victor turned his head and looked at me, then smiled.
Victor: It is impossible to completely hold a fool in his hand, hold it tightly, and keep her from leaving.
MC: Did I make you worry a lot? I know you have been looking for me for a long time.
Victor: Not long.
Victor: After experiencing real time, I only feel that the years when I found you were as short as you went to buy me a cup of coffee
Heard what he said, I couldn't help being reminded of memories long ago.
MC: I just thought you were really harsh and annoying. There were so many conditions for asking me to buy a coffee.
MC: .. Now, I really want to buy it for you again
MC: No matter how many weird conditions you have, I will never get it wrong again.
Victor looked towards the boundless sky with emotion. In the night, countless meteors slowly fell, dazzling light across the blue to dark night sky.
It's not long since 19:17.
MC: Victor, I want to do something very important.
Victor: I know.
MC: But I just want to be your dummy and live the most ordinary and ordinary life.
MC: Let you have endless heart and endless planning plans every day, and bring you all kinds of trivial troubles.
MC: Then in the blink of an eye, you can...
With tears in my eyes, crying was already entrained in my voice, so I refused to continue.
Victor: She also said that she didn't like crying anymore.
I took a few breaths and stubbornly held my voice.
MC: I didn't cry!
Victor stepped forward and held me tightly in his arms. Surrounded by the familiar smell, I closed my eyes and gripped the corner of his suit with my hands.
My only wish is to be with him.
It’s okay to laugh and being embraced in his arms like this, I don’t want others.
But more important than this wish...
It's him. He can't just usher in the ending like this.
MC: When I come back, I will bring you a cup of coffee.
I grab his arms and made a promise, and he softly responded by caressing my hair.
Victor: Alright.
MC: That’s all? Don’t you have anything else to say?
MC: In the past, you always remind me about the deadline of my proposal, you would remind me not to oversleep like an elementary school kids for the meeting the next day.
MC: At this important moment, don’t you have something else to say?
MC: I’m going to do something big this time.
Victor loosened his arms around me slightly and looked at me.
Victor: I know.
Victor: But you’re no longer a dummy you used to be, there’s nothing you can’t do.
I have already understood his calmness from his eyes. As expected, I can’t still beat him.
I want to say something, but I felt something. There were snow-white feathers on my fingertips.
There is no time.
I subconsciously grabbed Victor’s hand--
MC: Victor..
My heart was overwhelmed by the huge perseverance, I almost called his name from the deepest part of my throat.
As he was holding me, there’s deep complex look between his brows.
Victor: Are you afraid?
I kept shaking my head, shaking my head anxiously!
It is not fear, nor regret, no matter what is waiting for me in front of me, at this moment I will walk firmly.
But even so, I still want to stop for another moment, a moment is enough for me to call his name again, to look at him again. .
Even... hoping that time can stop at this time.
I don't want to let go of his hand.
Victor hugged me with one hand, lifted my chin, and dropped a deep lingering kiss.
During the exchange of our breathing, I looked into his squinted eyes & saw a love that I had never seen before.
The tears that kept spinning in my eyelids were still drawn from the corners of my eyes when I was on my post. I gripped his shirt tightly, very tightly.
Aware of my silent choking, Victor clapped his hands and wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes with his index fingers.
Victor: Don't be afraid. No matter how difficult things are in front of you in the past, can't you always do well?
Victor: This time, there will be no exception.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ddc9105102d8b3408fd76a05a332bcfb/be21b2721b3c0f7e-f8/s540x810/38a200901463f36b1300c72fa5c745af7b6a5322.jpg)
The scene in front of me and his voice were slowly dissipating, and I looked at him deeply, unable to say a word.
I clearly felt that Victor held my hand tighter, tighter than ever, as if he wanted to keep me too.
Like he didn't want to leave me alone.
He opened his mouth, what he was saying, but I couldn't hear anything and my senses were blurred.
Victor: ...Remember, to get me back.
MC: What?
I vaguely heard something, but couldn't be sure.
The white wings spread out in the dark night, and the sky is connected one after another, and the scattered white wings sit on the tall buildings together with the meteor, and fall into the street...
Victor let go of my hand and stepped back half a step, his eyes showed unprecedented joy.
MC: Victor!
Victor: I....
He was telling me something. His deep voice was mixed with a firmness that I've never heard before, but I could only vaguely recognize the words that I wanted to hear the most from his mouth. After that she calls his name
MC: Victor...
The sight was finally dark, and Victor's deep gaze disappeared in front of me.
The city fell into the night amidst the noisy shouts-
Victor slowly opened his hand and caught a piece of pure white feather in the air. The corners of his lips were gentle, his eyes drooping slightly.
That feather just lay quietly on his palm, soaked in moonlight, as slender as she looked at him at the last moment.

Honey, You're Familiar (Like My Mirror Years Ago); Part 3
Part 3: The Date
Part 1 I Part 2 I Part 3 I Part 4 I Part 5
Summary: Things don't go exactly to plan. Clyde stresses.
Word Count: 4,010
Warnings: fluff, spice, grumpy Clyde Logan, pouty boy (but he's still in love), sentimentalism, sickly sweet pet names, smoochin', grindin', oral sex (male receiving), cum on body (not in!), original female character–let me know if I need to add anything else!
A/N: Thanks again to @paper-n-ashes for being my beta reader & quelling all my writing jitters. You're the absolute best!
Prefer AO3? I gotcha!
It’s a fuckin’ disaster.
Starts out nice. Juniper shows up on his doorstep wearin’ a slinky little black dress, one that shows off her curves and makes Clyde’s mouth go dry. She tells him he looks handsome and he feels giddy. He sweeps his newly styled hair out of his face, sayin’ she looks absolutely stunnin’. Juniper beams, grabs his hand, tells him they better get a move on ‘fore they’re late.
They’re late. They’re later than late.
They aren’ five minutes outta town when lightenin’ starts to streak across the sky. Clyde shifts uneasily, eyes cast upward towards the swirling heavens. It’s rainin’ cats and dogs in no time and Juniper has to slow to half the speed limit to drive safely. Clyde’s thoughts go to the river up ahead, the one the road crew was still tryna’ re-stabilize since the last storm flooded it.
Fifteen minutes from their destination and they have t’pull to a stop on the highway, suddenly blocked in a jam. Flashin’ red and blue lights indicate an accident up front, and while Clyde spares a thought to whoever was involved, he can’t help but check the time. They aren’ gonna make their reservation, he just knows it.
The car behind ‘em lays on its horn, the sound makin’ both Clyde & Juniper jump. The driver either doesn’ seem to understand the concept of bein’ stuck or plain just don’ care. Clyde clenches his jaw, glowerin’ into the rear view mirror—he can only see the driver’s silhouette behind the bright glow of the headlights. He’s keepin’ his cool until the driver reaches his arm out, in the pourin’ rain an’ all, just t’give Juniper the finger.
Clyde’s unbucklin’ his belt quick as can be, chest heavin’ as he reaches for the door handle. He’s ‘bout ready to stomp to the car and yank the man out.Teach ‘im a lesson on manners, teach ‘im t’treat a lady like—
“Clyde.” Juniper stops him in his tracks with just his name on her lips. He looks over at her from under his hair, expression tense. She reaches up to caress his cheek, holdin’ his face in her little palm so sweetly, thumb brushin’ over the sharp line of his jaw. “Leave him be. It’s not worth gettin’ into trouble.”
Clyde deflates, honey brown eyes downcast. He sounds miserable when he speaks. “… We’re gonna miss dinner.”
“I know, sugar. It’s okay.”
His heart flutters in his broad chest despite his distress. She’d called him ‘sugar.’ He likes that; wants to hear it again real soon.
By the time they get through all the traffic and make it to the restaurant, their reservation is indeed gone, table havin’ been given away. They stand together just outside the building, under the little awning in an attempt to stay out of the rain.
Clyde huffs, so morose that he’s unable to enjoy the way she was pressed up against his side. “M’sorry.”
Juniper frowns, reachin’ up to pat his stomach gently. “You stop that. You haven’t done anything to be sorry for.”
Clyde shakes his head sadly, heavin’ out a sigh. “It’s the Logan Family Curse.”
She looks up at him, brows arched, her hand still settled on his belly. “Oh is it now?”
He nods, brows pinched together. Juniper reaches for his hand, pulling it to her lips and pressin’ a kiss to his knuckles. “You aren’t cursed, Clyde Logan. And if you are, I’m perfectly happy to be cursed right along with you.”
Clyde doesn’ quite know how to respond to that, but luckily, he doesn’t have to right away. Juniper moves her lips to the pads of his large fingers, kissin’ ‘em gently before lettin’ him pull his hand away. Clyde cradles her pretty face in his palm, takin’ the time to admire her. Finally, he speaks. “Thank you, darlin’. That’s mighty nice of you t’say.”
Juniper nuzzles into his touch, sighin’ happily; it makes Clyde feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
“I’m only saying what’s true. Now c’mon. I know it’s a Friday night but there’s bound to be somewhere we can eat.”
They end up findin’ an old fashioned drive-in burger place, somewhere they can park and eat in the car out of the rain. It’s not where Clyde wants to take her; she deserves to be wined and dined all proper, not greasy burgers and milkshakes. But Juniper doesn’ seem to mind; as soon as they’re parked she’s squintin’ up at the menu, a big smile on her face.
“This all sounds so fucking good.” She giggles, lookin’ over at him. It makes the disappointment in Clyde’s chest fade away, and he leans over the center console to peer out the window to see what choices they were offered. It puts him in her space, and Juniper leans in to press a gentle kiss to his temple. He blushes, his cheeks only getttin’ hotter when she brushes some of his hair out of his face. He desperately wants to kiss her but he doesn’ know if it’s the right time.
He’s finally acceptin’ the night’s change of plans—finally acceptin’ that this might be good, burgers and fries while dressed up nice, watchin’ the rain pour from the safety of Juniper’s little Corolla—when the carhop comes out to tend to them. Clyde’s already diggin’ into his wallet as Juniper rattles off their order; he holds his debit card out, arm reachin’ over Juniper’s lap.
The carhop doesn’ move for the card. Instead, they say “Card machine’s down. Cash only.” in what Clyde thinks is possibly the most bored tone they could muster. He tries not to bristle as he fumbles with his wallet for a second time, patience already worn thin from the night’s events. He’s only got a fifty in his billfold. The fifty.
Their fifty.
He hesitates, even though he knows it’s irrational; Jimmy always did tell him he was too damn sentimental for his own good. Juniper must realize—she always does, Clyde never seems to have to explain himself to her—because she grabs her purse from the floorboard. Clyde stops her, shakin’ his head as he tugs the fifty dollar bill out. “S’alright, darlin’. Y’told me t’save it for a rainy day.”
Juniper’s face softens at his words, and Clyde hands the money over to the carhop, who looks like they want to be literally anywhere else. Soon Clyde’s been given his change, and he quickly puts it back up. As soon as he’s done Juniper’s reachin’ for him, pullin’ him in by his collar. Clyde goes willingly, twistin’ in his seat to move his prosthetic to the middle of her back, arm wrapped around her.
“I’ll give you another one.” She tells him firmly, and Clyde huffs out a laugh.
“Well that’d be awful silly of ya, Junebug. You’ll run outta money real quick if y’keep givin’ it all t’me.” He tries to soothe her with a joke, wantin’ to let her know that it was alright. Sure, it had been special to him—reminded him of their meetin’—but it was just a piece a’ paper. What was a piece a’ paper when he had the most important thing right here in front a’ him?
He wants to curl up further into her, but their positions don’t allow for it—the vehicle doesn’ exactly allow for him to move his long limbs much a’ anywhere. If this was as close as he could get, he was satisfied. Juniper shifts suddenly, eyes trained on him as she leans closer. They share a breath, then two, and then she’s pressin’ her mouth against his.
It’s nothin’ if not chaste. Clyde gets the feelin’ she doesn’ exactly want to neck in the front seat of her car like teenagers—at least not in plain view of the drive-in’s staff and other patrons. Just a gentle kiss, a little more than a peck; firm and lingerin’ just enough that he knows it happened. Juniper follows it up with another one at the corner of mouth, their noses pressin’ against one another’s cheeks.
It’s more than enough for Clyde; more than enough to get his pulse to sky rocket. He can’t remember the last time he’s been treated so gently, so much love in such a small movement. She gives him a smile when she pulls away, and they both sit back in their seats, starin’ all heart-eyed at one another. She takes the metal of his hand in hers, holdin’ it, and Clyde thinks maybe he should reconsider the whole curse thing.
They head back home after finishin’ their meal, the storm slowly peterin’ off as they get closer to Clyde’s trailer. Juniper walks him to his door, gigglin’ when she offers him her arm to escort him. He takes it, grinnin’ like a fool as they stomp up the front steps. They stand there under the yellow porch light, humid heat surroundin’ ‘em. Clyde usually hated the humidity, but not when it was like this, creatin’ such a hazy, intimate bubble around ‘em. Juniper drops her arm, but only to reach for Clyde’s flesh hand, holdin’ it in both of hers.
“I had a really nice time tonight, Clyde. Best date I’ve ever been on—and I mean that.”
Clyde can feel himself blushin’, a pleased smile turnin’ his lips up. “I had a good time, too. Wouldja—wouldja wanna do it again? Sometime soon?”
“Yes.” She answers almost before he can finish askin’, and they both laugh. There’s a beat, a pause, a breath, and then Juniper is leanin’ up the same moment Clyde’s leanin’ down. It’s a relief when their lips touch, like the first drink a’ water in the mornin’. Clyde thinks he’s been parched his whole life and never even knew it.
Juniper’s the one who deepens it, the one who drops his hand to lean into him, to thread her fingers through his thick hair, holdin’ him close. And fuck, Clyde isn’ gonna fight it. He wraps his arm around her, prosthetic against her back as his hand moves to hold her face. His palm envelops her cheek, thumb under her chin to keep her head lifted. They kiss and kiss, and when she makes a little whine in the back of her throat Clyde swears he’s floatin’.
When she pulls away to breathe he makes a sound of his own, a disappointed little groan that she huffs out a laugh at. He’d be embarrassed if she wasn’ nuzzlin’ her nose against his cheek like she can’t get enough.
“Those lips a’ yours aren’t fair.” She murmurs, and Clyde hums, strokin’ his thumb along her jawline. He doesn’ want this to end, he thinks for possibly the thousandth time that night. He doesn’ wanna let her get back in her car an’ drive across town, over the train tracks, past the antique shop, until she gets to the bed & breakfast.
He wants her right here, and he’s never been the one in this position, but he doesn’ hesitate when he asks her, “D’y’wanna come in?”
She nods, and it sets his chest aflame. They straighten up, untanglin’ themselves from one another even as she leans into his side, not wantin’ t’be too far. Clyde’s hands shake as he unlocks the front door but he doesn’ care if she sees. He wants her to see, wants her to know what she’s doin’ t’him. Maybe then...maybe she won’t leave.
Clyde flicks on the lights, closin’ the door behind both of ‘em. He watches as Juniper assesses his things: his clumsily cleaned living area, the small kitchenette that was (thankfully) decluttered. The hallway leads back to the bathroom, and then his bedroom, but Clyde doesn’ dare look towards it, much less lead her that way. Instead, he steps towards the fridge, hand reachin’ out to brush against the door.
“Want anythin’ t’drink?” He asks, voice quiet, as if nervous to disturb the silence. Juniper shoots him a smile, shakin’ her head as she perches on the couch.
“No, I’m okay, thank you.”
Clyde nods, lingerin’ there even though he doesn’ want a drink neither. Her eyes look him over, amusement showin’ in them.
“Why don’t you c’mere? If you want, of course.”
He wants. Oh, how he wants. So he goes, movin’ across the distance between them in three long strides until he can sit himself next to her. He’s stock straight, heart thrummin’ in his chest; his nice button-down feels all tight against his skin, too itchy. He thinks only her touch’ll soothe it, but doesn’ wanna ask her. Juniper, however, reads his mind; she always can. She smoothes a hand over his jean-clad thigh, leanin’ in ever so slowly, like she’s gonna startle him if she moves too fast. Clyde’s breath catches in his throat as she kisses him again, and it's heaven, it's heaven.
It’s different from in the car, from on the porch. This time there’s more purpose to it. Juniper’s kissin’ him—tastin’ him— like he belongs to her, and Clyde thinks maybe it's because she knows he does. He’s tryna’ angle his body just right, tryin’ t’lean down without puttin’ a crick in his neck. Not that he’d care much, if he did--a crick was worth this, worth the feelin’ of her tongue brushin’ against his bottom lip, against his teeth.
Juniper makes a frustrated little noise, pullin’ back, and Clyde’s brows furrow in confusion.
“Wha--Wha’s--?” He stammers out, flesh hand flexin’ on her waist, the silky fabric of her dress feelin’ so soft and cool against his skin. Juniper’s lips are plush and kiss bitten; Clyde tries to take a picture of ‘em in his memory, eyes trained on their pretty color. He almost misses her question. Scratch that, he does miss her question; has to very ineloquently say “huh?” to get her to repeat it. She ducks her head, voice shy.
“Can I, uh--get in your lap?”
Shit. Shit. Clyde nearly feels dizzy for all the blood rushin’ down south. It makes him a little self-conscious; she’s not gonna want t’sit on his lap and have his cock pressin’ into her all demandin’ like. But damn, his little Junebug looks so eager, her eyes darker than he’s ever seen ‘em, and like he’d said: he wants. So he just nods, barely breathin’.
Juniper shifts, pushin’ him into the back of the couch and he goes easily, willingly. She hikes her dress up her legs and Clyde gets a barely there peek of dark green lace before she’s straddlin’ his lap. He moans, can’t fuckin’ help it, and Juniper dives in to capture the sound with her mouth. Her hands are on his face, in his hair, fingers rubbin’ the shells of his ears—he’s surrounded, he’s drownin’, suffocatin’. He’s never felt so alive.
His own hands are placed chastely on either one of her hips, though he knows his flesh hand must be grippin’ her somethin’ fierce. The thought flashes in his mind, of him leavin’ little fingerprint shaped bruises on her skin for her to feel the next day. It makes him shiver underneath her.
Juniper takes and takes, and Clyde lets her. Clyde wants to be taken, in whatever way she’ll have him. Suddenly she’s pullin’ away just enough to suck in a little air, lips still brushin’ against his. He presses his long nose into the soft skin of her cheek, breath hot between them. When Juniper speaks, her voice is strained.
“Touch me, Clyde. Please.”
He doesn’ hesitate. His good hand moves from her hip to her ass, grabbin’, kneadin’ as he pulls her tighter against him. She lets out the prettiest noise Clyde thinks he’s ever heard, and his lips find her neck as his other arm comes around to hold her close. God, she tastes so good; her perfume fills his head until he feels dizzy with it.
She's pressed flush to him like this, grindin’ her hips against his. Clyde’s hard and leakin’ in his brand new jeans and the only thing he can think of is hearin’ her little noises again. Her hands are back in his hair, pullin’ at it, sweepin’ it away from his face so he doesn’ get tangled in it as his mouth makes a hot path down the neckline of her dress.
It feels so damn good that Clyde doesn’ realize she’s tryin’ to get his attention until she yanks on his tresses, his scalp burnin’ from it. Honestly he thinks he groans, rough and wild in his throat, the pain shootin’ straight to his cock. But it makes him look at her, and she holds him from divin’ back into her skin.
“Clyde I wanna—I wanna taste you. Is that okay? Can I?”
Lord Almighty above. That should be his line, it really should. But how can he argue with her? He’d give her anythin’ she wanted, anythin’. And she wanted—wanted to put her mouth on him. Clyde spares a thought for all the trimmed and proper men he’s seen in porn, how much nicer they looked, how Juniper deserved the best. West coast mean surely didn’ look the way he did. But then,“Yes,” he’s sayin’, voice ragged, “yes.”
And she’s slippin’ out of his lap onto the floor between his legs. Clyde’s heart pinches, and he leans forward to pick her right back up. To say “oh, darlin’, y’don’ need to be on the hard floor like that. Lemme stand an’ you c’n sit right back on these here pillows.” But before he can get his legs under him she's pressin’ her face between ‘em, nuzzlin’ into the scratchy fabric of his jeans, right up against his cock. Clyde’s brain short circuits.
“Been wantin’ this.” Juniper murmurs, small hands workin’ at his belt, and Clyde arches his hips up, tryin’ t’help her get his jeans off. He can’t believe this—can’t believe this is happenin’. She tugs his jeans and pants down his legs, just enough that his cock is revealed. Clyde clumsily unbuttons the first couple buttons at the bottom of his shirt, not wantin’ to get the new fabric messy. Juniper seems to like his idea; she sighs and leans forward to press her lips to the bare skin of his stomach.
“Sweetheart.” Clyde whispers, voice all trembly. He stretches out a little, givin’ her more access to his pale abdomen. Her lips are so soft against his skin, against the dark trail of hair leadin’ down, down, down. She follows it, nosin’ to the crook of his thigh, teeth scrapin’ deliciously ‘fore she turns her attention to his cock—already plump and stiff, and very interested in her ministrations. She wraps a hand around it and Clyde’s breath catches in his throat. She studies his cock, gives it a gentle stroke, thumb rubbin’ at the velvety head.
“You’re so big.” Her voice is quiet, but it startles Clyde all the same—he’s been transfixed by the vision in front of him.
“O-Oh, I-m, uh—“
He’s attemptin’ to apologize—his first instinct, really. But his brain isn’t really functionin’ all that well, and then she’s leanin’ in to lave her tongue over his slit. Clyde groans, a sound comin’ deep from his chest as he zeros in on the pretty pink of her soft, wet tongue. Juniper hums as if she’s pleased, a little smile on her face, and then she’s slippin’ her mouth over his cock in earnest.
Clyde’s head drops back against the couch pillow, lungs strugglin’ to suck in air. Oh fuck, oh fuck, fuck—it felt so good. She was gorgeous, she was perfect, she was a fucking angel doin’ this for him. She couldn’ take all of him into her mouth but goddamn she was tryin’. It didn’ matter—even if she wasn’ usin’ her hand to make up the difference, Clyde thinks he could cum just from seein’ her there between his legs, her silky soft lips on his skin.
He moves with her—not in a way where he’s pushin’ her or askin’ for more, but in a way where she’s pullin’ him; she’s the ebb and flow of the tide and he follows her willingly. His back arches, toes curlin’ up in his boots; his prosthetic settles on top of her free hand where it was grippin’ one of his large thighs. His other hand is too busy grippin’ the couch cushions to do much else. He’s lost to it—to her—an’ he doesn’ wanna be found.
It’s over far too quickly, embarrassingly so—it even surprises him. He’s ridin’ the high of his pleasure and his orgasm hits him so hard and fast that Clyde barely has any time t’warn her. All he can do is make a frantic noise, her name garbled in his throat as he quickly tries to push her off a’ him. But it’s too late—he’s cummin’ the same time that she’s pullin’ away, and Clyde can only watch in an odd mix of both arousal and horror as his cum paints her chin, neck, and cleavage.
Juniper’s mouth is held open in a surprised little ‘o’ shape, brows arched, and Clyde feels fuckin’ humiliated.
“J-Juniper, darlin’, m’so sorry, I—“ He scrabbles behind him for the throw blanket layin’ across the back of the couch, tuggin’ it into his lap so he can clean his mess off a’ her skin. He’s quick to tend to the spend on her cleavage first, hyperaware of how close it was to the fabric of her pretty black dress. “I’m sorry, I tried t’warn ya but it was too—“
“Clyde, it’s okay.” Her voice is all raspy and Clyde bites back a moan at the sound of it. She was so fuckin’ sexy, fuckin’ flawless. He’d cum all over her, messy and wild, and she was still lookin’ at him like he’d hung the damn moon. She pulls herself to standin’, and Clyde’s gaze dips down to where her knees were all red from kneelin’. Just another thing he didn’ know he found hot until now.
“But I guess it’s a little dangerous to keep this on, huh?”
His gaze snaps up to her face when she speaks, and she’s wearin’ a grin, eyes alight. Then she’s twistin’ her arms around, wrigglin’ out of that cute little dress until it graces the linoleum floor. She bends down to pick it up, drapin’ it carefully over one of the kitchen chairs. She moves like it’s nothin; like the sight of her in her heels and underwear ain’ makin’ his cock try to thicken up again.
“Yer so beautiful.” He tells her, gaze trained on her as she walks back over to him. Clyde feels so small with her standin’ in front of him; feels vulnerable even if he was still mostly dressed. Juniper steps out of her heels slowly, placin’ them to the side before leanin’ in, restin’ her hands on the back of the couch on either side of his head so she can kiss him.
Clyde runs his flesh hand over her bare waist, down the swell of her hip, toyin’ with the band of her underwear. He doesn’t push it down; he won’t without her permission. It’s enough to kiss her like this, soft and lazy, feelin’ her skin underneath his. He feels all gooey and happy from his orgasm, even if it had come sooner than he’d have liked.
He sighs into her mouth, content; chases her lips when she pulls away. Juniper starts to work on the buttons of his shirt, and he sits up to help her ease it off a’ his shoulders. She folds it neatly, settin’ it to the side; Clyde forces himself to speak, tryin’ to get his brain back in workin’ order. “D’y’wanna—wanna go back to the bedroom? You c’n lay down and I’ll—I’ll take care a’ ya.”
He thinks he sounds all awkward and silly, but Juniper gives him a warm smile, and his insecurities fade. She was always comfortin’ him, whether she knew it or not. She places one last lingerin’ kiss to his lips before noddin’ at him. “I’d like that.”

Blueberries and Cowboys: Chapter 2
A choose-your-own-adventure style fic. First, 2 platonic chapters for set-up/build-up. And then, the story will split into 2 paths depending on your romantic pairing preference: You and Thrawn, or You and Eli.
Chapter Masterlist
Chapter 2: The Plan
Pairing: None...yet...
Chapter Warnings: Mentions of bullying
Length: 2k
AO3 Link (In case you like it better over there, it’s okay, no judgement)
The rest of the week saw the three of you using every bit of free time outside your classes and studies to gather information for Thrawn to build a solid plan.
Eli tailed his pesky classmate Arden everywhere, even skipping a class one day to break into his dorm, trying to learn anything about the guy that could be useful to get him involved in the plot. Thrawn analyzed the simulation software and protocols that would be used to administer the tests, mapping out every possible way Commander Burdick could hijack it. And you were the one spying on the Burdick himself. Since the commander didn't seem too interested in your grades, you were able to shadow him without suspicion, and had been able to slip a bug into his offices to eavesdrop on any potential conversations about his plans for sabotage.
Your classmates and the staff were none the wiser. That was the advantage of being social outcasts. Half of them avoided you all like the plague, and the other half already thought you were weird people doing weird things. So it wasn't long before you'd all gotten enough intel to work with.
It was late in the evening at the end of the week. You found yourself in Thrawn and Eli's shared dorm, which looked identical to your own in the opposite wing, because the Empire couldn't bother with things like individuality or comfort. Eli sat on the edge of his top bunk, his legs swinging casually, and his coat unbuttoned to reveal a wrinkled undershirt you knew he hadn't bothered to wash all week. Thrawn paced about in the middle of the room, his long strides only allowing him about four good steps before he had to turn around. He still had his uniform on, boots and badges and all.
You leaned against the railing of the bed, watching Thrawn as he went back and forth. Sometimes he sat still when he was scheming, with his fingers steepled and his gaze seemingly reaching into some unknown dimension beyond your comprehension. That usually happened when he was running through variables that didn't concern you, at least from his perspective. You and Eli had accepted long ago there would always be parts of his plans he would never share with you. He was kind of a control freak like that.
But tonight, he seemed to be more welcoming of collaboration, hence his steady rhythm of pacing in front of you.
"Only one variable remains, as I see it," he was saying. "We understand how the commander will manipulate the system to cause a redundancy in the simulation, thus rendering the test impossible to finish successfully."
You and Eli shared a glance; the only person who truly understood how that was going to happen was Thrawn. He'd tried explaining numerous times but when it came to codes and tech, the two of you weren't able to fully keep up.
"We also know through your investigating," Thrawn motioned to you with what you thought was an impressed look, causing you to feel a little pride, "that the commander plans to only sabotage my test, believing it will be too suspicious if Eli also fails. He will also manipulate his false code to originate from the computer of his former lover Eva Carroway, who currently works in HR. So if an investigation does ensue, it will be traced to her and not him."
You and Eli chuckled under your breaths. It had been a little amusing when you'd discovered Commander Burdick was using this plan to not only undermine Thrawn, but also get revenge on his ex-girlfriend. But even more hilarious was how awkward Thrawn treated the subject. He had been quite perplexed to learn people could be so vindictive after a break-up. And any time he explained that detail of the plan, like he was doing now, he hesitated over his word choice. You couldn't tell if he only pretended to be confused about romantic relations, or if that was truly an area he found himself lost in.
If Thrawn noticed your snickering, he didn't respond to it, only continued to recap the plan. "We have also determined how we will expose the altered code naturally, so it does not cast suspicion on us... What was the word you used?"
"Backfire," said Eli.
"Yes. It would not due to have anyone suspect that we altered the test ourselves, or to have our concerns disregarded altogether. Thus, arranging for the maintenance crew to get a mild case of food poisoning so their performance checks are postponed to occur right before the tests will take care of that variable. At the least, they will fix the altered code and I will take the test as normal. At the most, they will report it and the commander faces expulsion."
"So..." said Eli through a yawn as he stretched. "What's left to work out, then?"
Now it was time for you and Thrawn to share a look.
"Were you not interested in involving your classmate, Arden Fey?" asked Thrawn in his soft, contemplative voice.
Eli shrugged. "Yeah. But Burdick's already got his scapegoat, his ex. So it'll be easier to keep him out of it. Whatever."
You could tell he was trying to be nonchalant. But just this morning, he had spent the entire walk between classes ranting about some new insults Arden had come up with, and how badly he wanted to show the guy up once and for all. You knew your friend wasn't feeling "whatever" about it.
"It's not a matter of ease or difficulty," Thrawn stated plainly. He had stopped pacing and was standing with hands behind his back, highlighting the broadness of his shoulders and the height of his stance. His presence seemed to fill up the whole room, and not for the first time, you were glad to be his friend and not his enemy.
"Yeah," you added in encouragement. "We just have to get creative. Find a way to make Arden a more appealing scapegoat than Burdick's ex. In fact...."
You trailed off as an idea occurred to you. You darted out of the room, surely leaving your two friends perplexed, but you would only be a second. You sprinted down the corridor toward the lifts, where a bulletin hung against the wall with fliers and pamphlets. One notice was a bit larger than the others, a promotion of an upcoming gala event to celebrate the Academy's anniversary. You ripped it off and went racing back to the boys' dorm room.
Eli had come down from the bunk and held a concerned look, probably prepared to follow you if you hadn't returned so quickly. Thrawn was still standing composed, but there was a curiosity in his eyes that made you smile.
You held up the poster in front of your chest. "What do you think the likelihood is of us playing successful matchmakers this week?"
Thrawn understood your idea almost immediately, looking down on you with a pleased smirk. It made you flush a little, to know the Chiss was impressed. You rarely had a chance to contribute good ideas when his mind worked so much faster than yours.
Eli caught on next, and he started to grin, the happiest you'd seen him in a while. His smile was infectious and you grinned back. Happy looked good on him.
"We know Eva's not shy with younger guys," you explained. "Before Burdick, she was fooling around with some intern in the med bay."
"And Arden's vain enough," added Eli. "If he thinks anyone's interested, he'll go for 'em."
"So we get him to ask her to the gala as his date...." you said.
"Burdick sees the two of them together...." said Eli.
"And realizes he can get back at his lover in another way, by pinning the sabotage on another student...." joined Thrawn.
The three of you stood together, proud and satisfied that yet another plan had finally worked out. It was almost worth the stressful studying and petty bullying and all the other unpleasant things you had to endure at this god-forsaken school, just to have fun moments like this with trusted friends.
"We should attend this gala as well," Thrawn said eventually, holding out a hand for the poster. He inspected it thoughtfully. "It is only a few days before the tests, so I hadn't planned to pay it any mind. But now...."
"Yeah, we should make sure Burdick's as jealous as we want 'im," nodded Eli.
You were secretly pleased. The plan was already a win-win, but now you would be able to go to the event yourself, too. You hadn't mentioned your desire to go to either of them before, figuring they weren't interested and not wanting to sound silly if you suggested it. But you did love dancing, and it was so very rare you got a chance to wear something other than your Imperial uniform.
"It's a dance," you noted, in case they couldn't tell by the details on the poster. "We'll need to go in pairs."
"I suppose it would make the most sense for you and Eli to go together," said Thrawn quietly.
You looked between the two, realizing both of them were flushed slightly. Eli's cheeks were dotted with pink, standing out amongst his dark brown features, while Thrawn had more of a purple tint to his face now, a color you'd never seen there before. You could feel yourself growing warm and uncomfortable as well. It was only a dance... only a way for you to enact a much more important plan... but it was the first time your trio had had to engage in anything other than platonic friendship. The balance of your group seemed to be shifting ever so slightly in this moment, and you had no way of knowing if it was for good or ill.
You cleared your throat, pushing away any feelings that might have been brewing in your chest, and instead calling focus back to the mission at hand.
"Actually, I think I'd better go with Thrawn. Whoever doesn't go with me would have to find their own date, and no offense Thrawn, but I think Eli has the better chance of asking someone else."
You hoped they hadn't noticed how hollow your voice sounded, how hard you were trying to keep yourself emotionless.
Eli was pinker than ever. "Uh, I highly doubt that..."
"You're not completely hated around here, you know," you said quickly. "Definitely not with the girls. You're not bad looking, you can be charming if you try, and you're... you know, human." You glanced at Thrawn and added again quietly, "No offense."
Thrawn shook his head. His color and demeanor had already slipped back into his usual neutral self. "No, I agree. Those are the dynamics of our peers and we must work with it. I will take you to the gala, Eli will find his own date, and all three of us will push Arden and Eva together as well. It's a good plan."
You all nodded in agreement. But there was a knot in your stomach, a nervousness you didn't quite understand. You cared very much for both Thrawn and Eli. They were your best friends, your only friends. As a group, you were bonded by your ostracism, protecting and supporting each other on your journey out of this hell-hole.
And separately, you had something special with each, too. You and Eli came from similar backgrounds, and had the same need to disconnect from your surroundings and just have a bit of fun every once in a while. The two of you had spent many late nights together, either hopping between bars, exploring the city, making each other laugh uncontrollably, or quietly sharing the honest thoughts you both buried far too deeply inside. Some nights you'd done all of the above, and returned to your dorm feeling both exhausted and renewed.
But Eli didn't always appreciate the finer things in life, and that's where you connected with Thrawn. He wasn't necessarily an optimist, but he had this way of noticing the beauty that existed everywhere around you, even in the most simple or mundane of moments. Everything had the potential to be interesting. His calm but strong presence had kept you grounded and sane throughout your studies here so far. Sometimes you would talk, other times you would simply be in the same space. And either way, you felt better about life.
You didn't exactly want your relationship with them to change. But you couldn't help but feel this gala would do just that....

[CN] ASMR Transcripts (Kiro)
🍒 Warning: This post contains detailed spoilers for ASMRs which have not been released in English servers! 🍒
This post contains transcripts of the following:
> night warmth - 黑夜温度
> dawn - 晨光
> visiting his workplace on the beach - 海岛探班
night warmth - 黑夜温度
[ MC and Helios are being chased by a police car. Heavy panting. ]
Here. Hurry.
Don’t make a sound.
We’re safe for now.
…have you hugged me enough.
You’re right. This place is very dark and cramped.
You’re afraid?
…I said it before. Stay away from me.
[ Sound of ruffling and Helios tapping on his phone ]
We have to stay here until we can be certain of our safety.
My phone still has battery. There’s enough for it to be used as a light source.
Hm? What’s wrong?
It’s just a bruise. It wouldn’t affect anything.
I don’t need this…
Wait.
[ Sound of bandages ]
Don’t touch…
…it doesn’t hurt.
You don’t have to be so careful.
I wouldn’t become paralysed from this level of injury.
Why are you looking at me like that?
…I already said that it doesn’t hurt. I don’t want to repeat myself again.
You shouldn’t need to understand these things, much less interfere in them.
You…
What’s wrong with your hand?
Don’t move.
Only now do you know what pain is?
Open your hand. Put it here.
…come nearer.
What are you hiding from? I haven’t even started.
Put your hand properly. Don’t tremble.
…does it hurt?
I got it. I’ll be gentler.
Since you’re so afraid of pain, you should remember this clearly. Don’t be a busybody, especially when it comes to me.
There is a reason for that.
Tell me… you know quite a lot.
However, being bold isn’t necessarily a good thing.
[ Sound of running ]
There’s movement.
[ Sound of running ]
…they’ve gone far away.
What’s wrong? Why are you so warm?
Shh…
Don’t make a sound.
…looks like you have a fever.
The wound may have an infection.
Hang in there. I’ll bring you out soon.
Shh, don’t make a sound.
What did think I was going to do…
Fever and chills.
Come closer to me.
Even closer.
Treat this as thanks for “saving” me again.
I wouldn’t care about you the next time.
I hope there wouldn’t be a next time.
What are you laughing at?
Like a disobedient child stuck in a small black house?
You still have the mood to joke around?
Looks like you’re still clear-headed
Very strong… nothing.
If you’re tired, you can lean on me and sleep for a while.
Hm? You don’t dare to sleep?
Aren’t you very bold?
They likely think we have already escaped.
So once it’s dark, we can leave.
This time, after we part, I hope I’ll never meet you again.
At least, not in such an embarrassment situation.
You’ve fallen asleep so quickly.
For now, have a good sleep.

dawn - 晨光
[ Kiro waking up. Cute grunts ]
Hm? Are you awake?
What time is it?
[ Kiro unlocks his phone to check the time ]
It’s still early.
[ Kiro taps on his phone, then locks it ]
Savin says he’ll pick me up at 9am.
I can still sleep for another two hours.
Hm? Didn’t you know that Savin moved house recently?
Coming here requires him to take the most congested route in all of Loveland City.
Besides, it’s the early morning peak period now.
Last night, I saw that he was still singing karaoke at 1am on Moments.
He won’t make it at 9am.
[ Rustling ]
And I haven't been busy lately.
I’ll be investing in two days.
[Note] He actually says “进组” (“jin zu”), but I don’t know what it means even after searching it up. The closest thing I could find is the phrase “带资进组” (“dai zi jin zu”), which refers to how actors bring in start-up capital to invest in the crew before filming officially begins.
I’ve already pushed away jobs that should be pushed away.
These two days will just be spent recording some things in the shack.
[ Rustling and Kiro sighs ]
If I were to head over at noon, I’ll be done in the afternoon.
Hm? Do you want to look for me later?
We can go for a meal together.
[ Random grunt. Kiro sighs again, followed by a long period of silence ]
Oh right!
The program you mentioned the other time.
How’s it going? Smoothly?
I was going to ask you about it on the plane yesterday.
But once we met, I forgot about it.
Savin mentioned that you even asked for his help to find a celebrity who’s good at variety shows.
Have you found one?
In your proposal this time, is there nothing I can help with?
[ Rustling ]
‘No’?
How could there be nothing?
Hmph. Don’t underestimate me.
Even though I have more experience on stage,
When it comes to staging lights and acoustics,
I’ve done my research too.
I wouldn’t be much worse than experienced staff.
Also, if I can’t be a guest on your program,
I could be a member of the staff.
And my rates are very cheap.
If you’re the one hiring me, I’ll give you a large discount.
Hm? Why are you suddenly looking at me like that?
I’m not thinking of anything bad.
I’m just thinking…
I don’t seem to be very busy in the later half of the year.
If you aren’t busy either, we can spend more time together.
If you’re very busy, I can accompany you to work.
It’s so rare for us to have time. I have to cherish it.
Having more things to look at, having more songs to write, and seeing you more frequently.
Don’t worry, I really have time.
[ Rustling ]
I’m not the lead in this show.
So I can finalise it in around a month.
Mm! Even though I’m not the lead, I really like this role.
And it’s the first time I’m acting as someone’s brother.
I don’t know if I can act it well.
What’s wrong?
Did it leave you in shock that I’m not the lead?
Do you also think I should only accept lead roles?
Actually, Savin and I have discussed this matter.
He’s the same as always, leaving the decision to me.
So I think…
They’re all fine. I’ll just look at the script.
And the director this time round specially explained his reason for not casting me as the lead.
It made me feel a little embarrassed.
He’s an incredibly experienced director,
But still had to consider these trivial things for me.
[ Kiro sighs ]
Maybe my schedule was too packed with work before.
So it caused people to misunderstand.
Which is why I want to tidy it up from now onwards.
And not stretch myself too thin,
And to give myself more time to digest the work on hand.
[ Kiro sighs. Long silence again where you can hear Kiro’s breathing. ]
Hm? Are you getting up now?
I’m not that tired either.
But I keep thinking it’s a loss to get up when the alarm hasn’t sounded yet.
You said you didn’t want to get up and yet can’t sleep.
What should we do then, Miss Chips?
[ Rustling ]
I’m not referring to playing games, or watching the television, or using the phone.
[ Rustling. It sounds like he’s FEELING HER UP. ]
Looks like my intelligent and adorable Miss Chips has finally guessed it.
Which is why you’re using the blanket to cover your head.
Hmm, you can’t do that.
Weren’t you the one who said that on account of how I’ve been working hard during this period, you’d reward me with food and drinks?
If you say things you don’t mean,
I’ll be very upset.
I’ll count to three.
If you don’t take more initiative, I’ll do it myself.
Although I never bully you, being a little mischievous occasionally should be okay, right?
Three.
[ Rustling ]
Are you sure you don’t want it?
[ Kiro laughs ]
Two.
[ Kiro sighs ]
Looks like Miss Chips really isn’t afraid.
One.
I’ll be gentle.
[ Rustling ]
I promise.

visiting his workplace on the beach - 海岛探班
[ sound of waves on the shore + footsteps ]
Miss Chips, you’re here…
Don’t worry, it’s just that today’s shoot started too early.
I’m not very tired.
…of course I’m not lying to you.
[sighs] Come, sit over here.
How is it? Isn’t it very comfortable here?
Mm, I like staying by the seaside too…
Just being under the sun and feeling the sea breeze makes me feel so happy.
[laughs] But… with Miss Chips visiting me at work, I’m even happier.
[ zipping sounds ]
Hm? This is a “visiting at work” gift for me?
Wow, it’s a coconut from here.
As expected of my Miss Chips, who knows me best in the entire world.
You actually knew that I happened to be thirsty right now.
…mm, I see the opening.
…mm, very fresh and sweet.
Come, you can try it too… mm?
Why do you need to insert another straw?
Don’t move. I’ll just hold the coconut and feed you… open your mouth.
How is it? Does it taste delicious?
Ahh I’m sorry, it spilt onto your clothes…
[ tissue wiping sounds ]
…all right, it’s just that the collar is still a little wet.
Want to loosen your collar slightly?
Maybe it’d dry a little faster.
…don’t look at me with that expression. I really didn’t do it on purpose.
[ tissue patting sounds ]
[laughs] But there’s some coconut juice at the corner of your mouth which hasn’t been wiped clean…
[ tissue wiping sounds ]
[kiss] All right, it’s clean now…
…but I realised something earlier.
And that is… coconut juice is really very sweet. It’s savoury, especially…
[kiss] Eh, why is your face suddenly so red?
I know, I know, it’s the sunlight’s fault for being so strong on the seaside…
Miss Chips’ reddish cheeks were under the sun, and it’s definitely not because she’s shy.
No, it has nothing to do with you…
I accidentally bumped into something this morning during the filming.
Mm. I’ve already applied medicine. It doesn’t hurt at all, don’t worry.
Also, the moment I see you, I immediately come back to life.
…as long as Miss Chips is by my side, it’s already the greatest show of support.
However, the most effective way of visiting me at work is actually…
Come a little closer and I’ll tell you.
[ ruffling sounds ]
[kiss] To me, this is the most effective way of visiting me at work.
[ many more kisses ]
On a contented afternoon, quietly sitting by the seaside,
Having Miss Chips beside me,
Along with her hugs and kisses…
[sighs] This kind of visits at work are what I’ve always longed for… very perfect.
[sighs] Promise me that in every film I shoot in the future,
You’ll try your best to visit the set once, okay?
Because I hope you can always participate in my life.
[laughs] …all right, I’ll take it that you’ve agreed.
Don’t worry… this place is very hidden, and no one will come…

Broken Me...
CH. 1
Summery: The Dallas Convention couldn't have come at a worse time for Jensen. His world fell apart earlier that morning, but was expected to just act like everything was normal. You and a friend were at the convention for her birthday. Life hasn't been that great for you either, but a forced meeting on stage changes two worlds. Will you be able to put this broken man back together again...
Series Warings: Cheating, shitty marriage, Danneel is a bitch, I unfortunatley have to put that as a warning because some people tend to get turnt up about it if you don’t... Smut, Crying, Suiside Attempt, brief discription of suicide attempt and recovery, depression, hints of self loathing, language. I think that’s it... Suicide Trigger warnings will be placed over each chapter!
Chapter Warnings: Cheating Danneel, Depressed Jensen, Emotionally hurt Jensen, Language, I think that’s it...
pairing: Jensen Ackles x Reader
Word Count: 1797
A/N: BINGE READ TIME!! As always all mistakes are mine! Please do not copy my work! Feedback is gold!! Hope you all enjoy this one!!

Jensen pov:
"Yeah I'm well aware this is partly my fault Danneel there's no reason to drive the point home, but I wasn't the one fucking one of my employees was I?"
Jensen was reeling, he couldn’t believe this was happening, he couldn’t believe what he had seen, it all felt just, not real...Like some strange out of body experience or nightmare that he just couldn’t wake up from..
Then as if to add insult to injury, here she was on the phone with him, trying to make it out like this was all HIS fault...
Like he was the one bouncing on the dudes dick when she came home from work, and not the other way around.
He just wanted to see his family, his kids, his wife, maybe even play with the God damn dog a little before leaving for the hotel before the convention started tonight. You would have never convinced him of what he was going to find when he walked through that front door the way he did today, not in a million years.
The raw and unforgiving reality of it though was that it was real, he saw it with his own eyes, and just like that, his marriage was over. It was almost too much for him to take all at once, and the longer he heard her make one excuse right after the other to try and play the victim, instead of the cheating whore that she was, the more angry he got...
"All that time I was gone you weren't the only one that was lonely!! You weren't the only one who wanted to be close to someone!! I WANTED TO BE CLOSE TO YOU!! I HAD MY DAMN PICK OF ANYONE I WANTED!! I SPENT WEEKS PLANNING THIS TRIP SO I CAN HAVE JUST A FEW HOURS WITH YOU!! I'M DONE DANNEEL WE'RE DONE!!"
Hanging up the phone before he could say anything he might regret, or anything she might be able to use against him in court, Jensen threw his phone across the room onto the hotel bed and shoved his hands into his hair, trying to get a hold of his frustration.
He started trying to talk it out with her, he really did, but the longer he was on the phone with her, the more his temper got the best of him. By the time he got off the phone with her, his face was red, and he had a knot in his stomach that made him feel like he wanted to vomit, and he was pretty sure that his blood pressure was at stroke level the whole time driving from Austin to Dallas…
He only had about three hours to get myself together before the rest of the cast and crew would arrive to get their rooms, and start the convention…
He was supposed to perform tonight for the Saturday nights special like he always did… So he had to get himself together before that started, and he had to take the stage in front of all those fans..
Thank God the hotel staff let him check in early. So he didn’t have to go to his parents to face them, or drive around Dallas for three hours because he was in no shape to be driving around right now.
Jensen didn’t have time to get drunk before the show tonight, or to sober up in time for it to start anyway, so he paced around his room trying to control his rapidly beating heart rate. Because right now he either felt like he was having a heart attack, panic attack, or both…
His mind was reeling with questions.
“How could she do this to me? I made sure she wanted for nothing. I loved and supported her the only way I could. I don't understand why she did this. I was faithful, even when I had every opportunity not to be I was faithful. This isn’t fair. Did she ever love me at all?”
A knock on the door disturbs him from my thoughts, and he glared at it a moment, thinking about ignoring it until he heard Jared yelling through the door.
"Hey J!! Are you there? I got here a little early, and they said downstairs that you were already here!! Let's get a drink before everyone else gets here!!"
A drink did sound pretty good, and if there was any he trusted it was Jared. He'd known Jensen the at his worst, and at his best, and he was always there when he needed him.
He had a right to know what happened.
Jensen grabbed his hat and shades before walking to the door, leaving his phone on the bed, he didn’t want to talk to Danneel anymore, he’d said everything he had to say, and if anyone wanted to find him that bad they usually called Jared.
Steading his nerves before he opened the door to join Jared for drinks he couldn’t help but feel like this was going to be a long convention.
.....................................
Your POV:
"Come on Y/n!! Put that damn guitar down!! The concert starts in one hour, and I want a good seat!!" Y/f/n yells at you from the hotel bathroom.
Rolling your eyes you sit your guitar back into its case, and put it in the closet so that housekeeping or whatever wouldn’t just see it laying around and take it.
It was your most prized possessions...
Music was your life...
It's what kept you going, what got you out of bed in the morning, and the last thing you thought about before you went to bed at night.
Most importantly it was there for you when no one else was… That much you had learned the hard way…
"Don't you think getting there an hour early is a little extreme?" You complain, turning around and checking your makeup in the mirror and grabbing your phone, and slipping it into your back pocket.
"Look you have no idea how crazy these people are that come to these cons, and I want to be so close to the stage I get sprayed with spit when Rob starts to sing." She says matter of factly, pulling her purse over her shoulder, and meeting you by the front door.
"Yeah because that's what a totally sane person would say about their seating arrangements." You mumble, rolling your eyes and shaking your head as you open the door.
The girl had it bad for Rob, which honestly was a nice chance, most girls were here for Jared, Jensen, or Misha..
You were more interested in seeing Jensen tonight yourself. The way his voice washed over you when he sang! Ugh there's nothing else in this world like it. It always rolled over you like honey, but burned slow, like a shot of the best top shelf whisky..The man wasn't human.
He was a damn God, and deserves to be treated as such.
The two of you rode the elevator to the first floor laughing, and talking about music. There were two guys in the elevator when you two got on, but you didn’t really pay them any mind. One of them smelled like he'd had more than one drink, and they both seemed to be trying to blend into the back wall of the elevator, not wanting to talk to the two of you.
"If they call for a fan to come up on stage tonight you should totally go sing with Jensen." She said, elbowing you in the ribs. Eating herself the best bitchface you could muster.
"No way dude, I'd never get past the first line. I'd freak out, and make myself look like a complete, and total idiot.."
The shorter one of the men in the elevator smirked at the ground at your conversation. There was something familiar about that smirk........
You were about to tell him it was rude to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations, when your friend spoke up again..
"Come on Y/n for my birthday PLEASE!!" She begged, giving you puppy dog eyes worthy of Sam Winchester.
"No way. He's not gonna want to sing with someone like me.” You say, trying to brush her off..
“What would you even want us to sing?"
The two of you exited the elevator, and you had all but forgotten about the two men following you just in ear shot.
"Hmm.... I don't Know........ How about.... Picture, by kid rock and Sheryl Crow." She said, all but bouncing as you joined the already forming line outside the doors leading into the hall where they were about to have the concert.
She loved that song, even though it was overplayed and overdone.
"That song is so damn old Google probably can't even find the lyrics to it anymore." You tease her.
She just rolls her eyes and sticks her tongue out at you.
“It’s my birthday, so I pick the song! I didn’t say you’d have to like it”
The doors were opened before long, and the two of you made your way through the doors into the large room the concert was being held in. Leaving early had paid off. You were center stage, front row. Thanks to your friend’s media pass and gold tickets too, but you weren’t going to point that out.
Y/f/n was jumping up and down in her seat with excitement, and you just couldn’t burst her bubble.
"Did you see those two guys that were in the elevator with us?" You asked, as the two of you watched the other fans filter into the room.
The smile that one guy did sure did look familiar. You wished you could have gotten a better look at his face better, but they were both wearing shades and ball caps; keeping their heads down like they didn’t want to be bothered, and you didn’t want to stare at them, and make them feel uncomfortable..
"Yeah I saw them, probably just two dudes here with their girlfriends." she says shrugging you off as she sets up her camera for tonight. You don’t know why you cared so much, not like it mattered anyway who they were, or why they were here, there were a lot of strange people that went to these conventions, and they probably were here with their girlfriends, but still that smirk…
You shoved the thought of the two strangers in the elevator aside, you were about to see “The Jensen Ackles” sing. Honestly if you could have known you were going to die when he walked off stage.
You'd die happy.
Just cause you were that close to that beautifully sculpted, almost inhuman body, and voice that could melt you like butter.

“SIX IDOLS”
CHAPTER 2: “YATA MISAKI’S BUILDING EXPLORATION! HAUNTED HOUSE EDITION” (Complete)
* K - Six Idols (List of Chapters) * Projects & Chapters
Translation: Naru-kun Raws: Ridia
That day, it had been raining since morning.
He lifts his scarf to his mouth, takes a sip of hana, and Misaki Yata walks down the well-known shopping street. Born and raised in Shizume, this shopping street has been a playground, pathway, and everyday scene since childhood.
The fish shop shutter opened and a middle-aged woman appeared. The fish-filled foamed shelf is neat in the showcase. When he saw her, Yata bowed politely.
"Good morning, Oba-chan. You are well today."
"Oh, Misaki-chan. Yes, good morning. Are you going home now?"
Yata smiles bitterly. It is true that there is no morning and no night in the entertainment world, but he has not set an unreasonable schedule for having to go home at this time. Izumo Kusanagi, who is the actual owner, is paying attention to that area.
"No, it's recorded from now on. It's a home visiting plan for 'Shirogin Deluxe'. Have you seen it?"
"Oh, that show! I love it too. Misaki-chan, you're supposed to be out. I'm glad."
Yata was a little glad to see her shaking her face. For him, who has never left his hometown, it is a great motivation to please people who have known him for a long time.
Yata raises his thumb and shows it to the lady.
"Thanks! Well then I'll go!"
The lady also made an approving gesture to imitate Yata.
"Yeah, come on. Good luck, I'm supporting you."
Waving as he walks, Yata realizes that his heart is filled with warm feelings. The cold of winter and the mist that clings to his skin seemed to immediately disappear at that sensation.
Yata, who passed through the business district and onto the main street, was not surprised at all to see the location car.
"Huh? Are you turning the camera already?"
"Oh, Yata-san! Hello!"
Kamamoto, who was standing near the location car, waved loudly while holding the camera. Loud greetings are good in this industry if it's on a television station.
Yata rushed over to Kamamoto and touched his head.
"Ah!"
"Don't yell! It's going to upset the neighbors!"
All of them are also captured on camera. But that doesn't really matter to him. The interaction between the two, as a team, is not yet known to viewers, but when Yata and Kamamoto appear in pairs, such interaction is often expected.
"No, I'm sorry! I'm happy because it's been a while since I've been in a place with you, Yata-san!"
"How do you say, we didn't do something a week ago?"
As they exchanged words, Yata boarded the location car. Kamamoto also sits next to him, pointing his camera at Yata. Yata is reminded of when he sees several staff members in the car pointing lights and microphones at him.
"So why are you already filming? Doesn't filming start after arriving at Kokujoji-san's house?"
Today's plan is to visit the villa of the renowned artist, Daikaku Kokujoji, as he told the lady from the fishmonger. Kokujoji, who was the driving force behind this "idol age" and has 98% national recognition, is a representative not only of the entertainment world but also of Japanese society. Despite the fact that it is a village, Yata was not less than enthusiastic about visiting his home.
"Well, anyway, we are going to visit Kokujoji-san's house, so it's up to the headmaster to take pictures before and after that!"
Kamamoto says that and Yata wonders, "Is that so?" Since a big name like Daikaku Kokujoji is involved, the production side may also be concerned about various things.
"The location car will go outside. Please put your seatbelt on."
Both Yata and Kamamoto wear belts at the director's call. With Yata's unsettling feelings, the vehicle slid slowly onto the national highway.
If he thinks about it later, he should have noticed it then.
++++++++++
Yata finally wondered when he got to the capital highway from the national highway and left Tokyo.
"Isn't that the destination in Tokyo?"
Kamamoto's camera keeps spinning. Behind the camera, Kamamoto's expression covered by sunglasses seemed to be different from his usual appearance. Kamamoto has a smile on his face like a sticker.
"That's right. Everything seems to be near the secret hot spring in Nagano prefecture."
"I haven't heard that."
"Oh, is that so? Well, I heard it for the first time today."
Yata takes a closer look at Kamamoto. Kamamoto is turning the camera with a smile on his face.
"Well, ok."
Muttering, Yata turned to the outside of the car.
It is in the morning on weekdays. Location cars fly down the highway at a comfortable speed. The flowing landscape becomes an overflowing nature.
The location car went off the road through the interchange.
It was the field. Far from being a figure, even houses are rare. Beyond the fields as far as the eye can see, there are three trees with bushes. It must be a rural landscape everywhere in Japan, but he didn't think it was the place where Kokujoji Daikaku's village was located.
"I see. Did you make a mistake on the road?"
"You are not mistaken! Director?"
Kamamoto speaks to him from the passenger seat in an unnecessarily loud tone. The director gave him an ambiguous answer, like "Oh.", "Yes.", which made Yata feel even more uncomfortable. The localization vehicle goes into the mountains.
The landscape that should be described as abundant extends to the left and right. Green leaves and black trees are twisted and intertwined. Behind the threadbare and rusty railing, there was a sign with words like "Take care of your life." and "Think of your family.", and Yata looked away from the vehicle window.
The rain gets stronger.
The rain and fog were turning into a storm before he knew it. Perhaps the weather in the mountains is volatile, with dense black clouds hanging overhead, and it is as dark as it is at night, even though it is close to noon. Also, it seems that he was going astray, and the interior of the car began to shake with the rattle.
Yata yells as he grabs the armrest.
"Hey! Is there really a Kokujoji-san's village in such a place?"
"Well, I heard that."
Hearing the headmaster's response, Yata made his mouth twitch. He wants to complain, but the words can't come out. Either way, he don't know the location and have no choice but to leave everything to them.
After that, when they passed a winding mountain road for several tens of minutes, the vehicle stopped.
"We arrived?"
Yata asked with relief. Kamamoto says in a cheerful voice.
"That's right. Look, it's Kokujoji-san's village!"
Beyond the windshield, when he saw the house illuminated by the lights, Yata's face was full of energy.
It was a decaying western-style building.
It used to be a magnificent building, but due to deterioration over time, the exterior has peeled off in places, exposing construction materials and pipes. It was as if the skin had been ripped off by torture and the muscles and blood vessels underneath were exposed.
Yata slammed his fist into Kamamoto's head, regardless of whether the camera was spinning.
"Ah? What are you doing, Yata-san?"
"Where is this village? No matter how you look at it, it is an abandoned castle!"
"Oh, even if I say that... What about the director?"
The director in the seat looked back as he expanded the map.
"We are not wrong, it is here."
"Isn't that the case?! In such a place, Kokujoji-san's is a great village."
Yata's protest, however, disappeared when he saw what the director was pointing at.
A figure was at the entrance of the building.
The silhouette that extends the Japanese umbrella and protects itself from the rain is familiar. Costumes similar to hunting clothes and masks that imitate rabbits. All people who belong to the largest agency, the "Tokijikuin Agency" represented by Daikaku Kokujoji, regardless of age or gender, idols or non-idols, wear this outfit. They are widely recognized as "rabbits", sometimes appearing as back dancers in the figure and sometimes as messengers from the "Tokijikuin Agency".
Kamamoto says while capturing the surroundings with the camera.
"Looks like it's here, right?"
"Ah, stupid..."
The director gets out of the location vehicle and begins talking to the rabbit. Yata also opened his umbrella and got out of the vehicle, feeling uncomfortable.
"Good morning. Welcome, you have come a long way."
The rabbit bowed politely, waving in a soft voice. Yata is confused and says hello too.
"Oh, good morning. Is this it?"
"The front is closed now. Please relax in the hall first."
The rabbit turned his back to shake off Yata's question and walked into the hall. The film crew, including the director, did the same.
"Really…"
Yata, who was left alone, began to walk quickly. Instead of keeping up with them, he no longer wanted to be alone.
When…
At the edge of his sight, he saw something white moving. Reflectively, Yata turned his gaze to him.
A white figure was standing in one of the windows lined up on the second floor of the building.
The figure, whose skin and clothing were pure white, immediately disappeared into the darkness as if he had noticed Yata's line of sight.
"……"
Yata's face was pale and alternately compared the windows of the second floor with the entrance of the building.
++++++++++
The storm doesn't seem to stop, and it gets stronger and stronger. Yata eagerly watched the sound of the rain pounding from above.
"Hey. Kokujoji-san, isn't he coming yet?"
It has been almost an hour since he passed the dimly lit room. The Rabbit guide said, "Please wait a bit." and he retired and didn't show up at all. Yata and his colleagues were completely abandoned.
He's getting angry. No matter what the "Tokijikuin Agency" is, it is impossible to treat idols from other agencies so carelessly. Yata had a personality that such irrationality could not forgive.
However, now he doesn't feel angry and just wants to go home.
Every time the light from an old lamp shining on the table casts a complex shadow on the wall, the figure in Yata's mind, perhaps the white figure above, blinks.
Yata gulps and talks to Kamamoto next him.
"Maybe he doesn't feel right? So I think it's rude to bother him, we'll re-record at a later date."
"Even if you say that..."
Kamamoto was confused and spoke to the director.
"What do you think, Director? That Rabbit, I don't think he's coming back."
The director puts his hand to his jaw and thinks. Yata looked at his figure expectantly.
"It is true that this will hinder the schedule."
"Really?!"
"Then, let's go find the rabbit."
"Eh?"
The director and other members of the film crew rose to their feet one after another. From those who handle the light to the makeup, they try to go with the director. Yata instinctively tried to stop them.
"Wait a minute! Why is everyone going?"
"As we will be looking for him, it is better to have more manpower."
"That's right, oh, yeah, then I'll go with you."
"No, if we let the actor do these kinds of tasks, the name of the show will be frowned upon. Yata-san and Kamamoto-san, you should wait here."
Just with that, the other members except Yata and Kamamoto walked out of the reception room.
"……"
Yata stretched out his empty hand and sat back on the couch.
The reception room, where the current had already been introduced, felt even colder when the equipment left. Yata flailed his legs fiercely, staring into the dim lamplight. He cannot say anything and is calm.
He feels bad because he is worried about the normal path. As an important figure in the world of idols, Yata pays tribute to Kokujoji. He is concerned about the status of the great man, not because he is afraid of this eerie western-style building.
While repeating his trembling thoughts, Yata was confident that the team or the rabbit would return as soon as possible.
And 30 minutes passed, 1 hour passed.
It seems that the rain has stopped a bit. Instead, thunder was heard more frequently. The haunting and rumbling sky sometimes casts a light similar to a flare on the window. This time, Yata realized that his body was jumping.
"It's not too late?"
Unable to suppress the trembling voice, he talks to Kamamoto. Kamamoto keeps his camera on the table in front of him, arms crossed and silent.
Yata was driven by anxiety and shook his shoulder.
"Eh? Kamamoto?"
Kamamoto lowered his head in a low voice.
"Yes."
"Don't fall asleep, fat man!"
"Hmm!" When he touched his head, Kamamoto's sunglasses slid off.
Kamamoto makes a shocked voice, dressed like an idiot with sunglasses hooked to the edge of his ear.
"What is it? What is it?"
"Idiot! The others haven't come back yet!"
However, Yata's anger did not seem to be transmitted to Kamamoto at all. He stretched out humorously, grabbed the camera from the table, and stood up.
"I'm in trouble. Then I'll search a bit!"
"Oh, why?"
The voice was about to scream, but Yata no longer has the psychological margin to worry about such things. Kamamoto scratched his head like he was in trouble.
"No, it doesn't matter what you say. If they don't come back, it's only natural for me to go looking for them, right?"
"That said, the directors have not returned. If you go, the same thing will happen, right?"
Kamamoto bowed his head and pointed the camera at Yata. Yata's face is reflected in the black lens. Kamamoto had a ridiculous tone as he clearly reflected his scared face.
"Maybe Yata-san… Are you afraid of being alone?"
"Moron!"
Yata's low kick went through Kamamoto's right knee and the giant rolled on the ground.
"Hey, Yata-san, please stop hitting me!"
"Ah! Maybe it's because I don't like your comments?"
"Just kidding! Yata isn't scared at this level! I get it!"
"I go to search..."
Yata responds with a negative voice like a different person than until now. Kamamoto stood up while rubbing his knees and headed straight for the exit.
"Then, I'll go for a bit."
Kamamoto left the room. Yata was left alone in the reception room.
"……"
He cannot hear anything but the sound of rain, thunder, and the beat of his heart. He feels restless and walk around the table for no reason. Check the clock almost every minute. Every time, he repeats the idea of going round and round, why he hasn't come back yet.
At that moment, the roar of the guitar solo echoed through the hall.
"What?!"
Involuntarily, he raises a strange voice and jumps. The guitar solo echoed in Yata's bag that he had left on the couch. The fiery melody is a representative song of "Red King Idol" Suoh Mikoto, which Yata respects.
Yata took out his PDA while suppressing his heartbeat.
The incoming call was from Kamamoto. As soon as he answers the call, Yata yells at him.
"Hey, don't call suddenly!"
As he screamed, Yata felt relieved somewhere in his heart.
Kamamoto on the other end of the phone echoed the usual subtle voice without knowing such complicated psychology.
"No, I'm sorry, Yata-san. I thought it would be bad for Yata-san to be worried, so I'm sorry."
"Are you eating something?"
"Eh? No, no way..."
"You're eating! Where are you now?"
"Oh, no... it's like a kitchen."
"You're stupid! How do you eat in someone's kitchen when you visit their house? You can't do that, even if you're a visitor!"
Yata yells. At the same time, when he looks out the window, he notices that his expression has softened. Kamamoto's usual eating habits seemed to be irreplaceable and encouraging at this point.
Kamamoto says, while making a locking sound.
"Well, you often say that if I'm hungry, I can't do it, right? And I came here guessing."
"Eh?"
"I could see a figure here, so I thought it was a rabbit. It was wearing white clothes, so I'm sure it's correct."
A small shadow was born on Yata's slightly warmed chest.
A figure in white clothes.
"Hey, Kamamoto."
"Hmm? That? That, maybe..."
When he hears Kamamoto's voice as if noticing something, the shadow gets bigger as it swells.
"Wait a minute. Come back!"
"No, what are you talking about, there was a rabbit. Sorry! When can I start recording?"
There, Kamamoto's voice cut off.
The shadow fills Yata's heart. Yata clenches the sweat from his hands that slowly spreads onto his PDA.
"Hey! Kamamoto! Come back!"
"That? It's weird. Why?"
"Kamamoto!"
"Why was his neck looking away?"
Almost at the same time as those words, a wet sound echoed off his PDA.
It's like hitting a wet leather bag on the ground.
It's like squashing a rotten tomato.
A sound with an ominous premonition clung to Yata's ears.
"Kama-…!"
The calling voice was interrupted by a loud sound that pierced the tympanic membrane. Maybe that's why he dropped his PDA. He lets it go involuntarily, and Yata looks at his PDA. Notice the words "Rikio Kamamoto" floating just below the "Call" screen.
After a while of silence, the speaker began to pick up the sound of "something."
Tap. Tap. Yata notes that the sound that resonates regularly is footsteps. Facing Yata, who is stuck as if frozen, the speaker mercilessly continues to reproduce the sound of "something".
"Heh heh heh."
In the end, a sound like that of a laughing voice, and the call was cut off.
Seeing the words "End of call", Yata noticed the sweat on his back.
There is certainly "something" here.
Yata thinks about it while being driven into a panic. Can't imagine what it is. Is it related to that white figure? What happened to that rabbit and the members that went looking for him?
And Kamamoto...
"Ah!"
Clenching his fist and teeth, Yata stared at the living room door.
If Yata were alone, he would have screamed and stormed out of the reception room, rushing into mountains of thunderstorms. Not good in this situation, let's be clear. It is incredibly scary. Even now, his knees are shaking and he can't even stand.
However, Kamamoto is here. There are also directors and film crews that came with him.
If he abandons them and runs away alone, he will deny the human Misaki Yata.
"Damn!"
Yata slammed his hardened fist against his thigh. That doesn't stop the shaking of the knees, but it is something.
Thus, pain inspired Yata. He strides across the room and kicks the door open before crossing.
"Wait, Kamamoto! I'm going to help you now!"
Screaming to inspire himself, Yata stepped into the darkness in front of him.
++++++++++
Kamamoto said at the end that he was in the kitchen.
Of course, Yata does not know the layout of the building. Still, since it's a kitchen, he guesses it's somewhere on the first floor, and he walks down the hall in big surprise. The lamp, which should be from the lighting equipment, was not on, and Yata had to use the light from his PDA as a flashlight and advance terrifyingly.
Lightning and thunder roar. The entire view of the hallway was projected for a moment as if the camera's flash fired.
It's a long corridor with blood-colored ridges and bone-like walls. The portraits are evenly spaced on the wall.
As he slowly advances, Yata tries to keep the portrait out of his eyes. Because the line of sight can match. Because if he looks at them, they might laugh at him.
If he looks at a portrait, his heart may explode as if he is doing his best live. Yata still couldn't die. He couldn't die until he saved Kamamoto and the team members.
"……"
The blankness on his face means that fear outweighs courage. There is no colleague from the "Homura Performing Arts Office" who can laugh at him, they are not here at the moment. Yata has to fight both loneliness and fear.
Fold the corner twice.
Apparently it is a corridor. Maybe the kitchen is not on the first floor. If that happens, he will have to climb the stairs. That fact began to haunt Yata's thoughts.
Before entering the hall, a white figure reflected in the window for a moment flickered in Yata's mind.
Climbing the stairs means going to that figure. Yata wasn't sure he could get into such a situation even though he no longer had the courage to oppress it anymore.
When, suddenly, the door on his left moved with a piercing noise.
"Eh?"
Yata jumped to the ground in a squeaky voice.
The door opened slowly as if it had a will of its own.
The warm breeze that flowed from there caressed his taut cheeks.
He's sure it was moved by air flow or something, until he found out, it wouldn't move.
Thousands of words that are less than thoughts fill his mind. The instinct of "I want to get away from here" and the belief that "I can't abandon my friends" conflict with each other, and Yata's body tends to be rigid.
As it is, a minute has passed.
Nothing happens.
Realizing that, Yata began to move. The doorplate illuminated by the light of the PDA came into view.
The word "Dining Room" was written there.
"This is here?"
Muttering to be sure, swallowing hard, Yata opened the door.
The spacious dining room was filled with humid air. There is a long table as seen in the movie and several chairs around it. A three-pointed candelabrum on a pure white tablecloth receives the light and glows golden.
Yata scans the room while glancing at the scene. If there is a door that leads to the kitchen, that will be the goal.
The feelings of wanting to find them and not wanting to find them are in conflict in Yata. It was the manifestation of the two feelings that filled Yata's heart, the instinct of not wanting to face loyalty and the belief that he should help his companions.
Suddenly, Yata felt something crash against his toes.
It bounces and terrifyingly points the light to the ground.
It was a ham. A thick, boneless ham that appears to be around Yata's foot. There is evidence that the packaging has been broken and removed.
Kamamoto no doubt picked it up and ate it.
He had been here.
"Kamamoto?"
His voice echoed mysteriously. When he turned on the lights, the door that would lead to the kitchen was open. Yata went in there.
The kitchen floor was damp. When Yata's shoes hit the wet floor, he made a sticky noise and pulled a rope between his shoes and the floor.
The light from the PDA trembled as if Yata's discomfort was transmitted.
The previous light reflects the ground. Yata arrived when there was a trail of something crawling across the red-black wet ground.
At the same time, there is a watery sound in the kitchen.
Kucha, Juru, Picha, Nichi, Giri.
He doesn’t notice it from the sound of the rain. he could hear the sound all the time.
Jutsu, guchitsu, baki, zuru, gucha...
Maybe he didn't want to realize it. Because it was a realization of Yata's fear.
Baki, Bagi, Goritsu, Boritsu, Jururu.
However, Yata had to face realization. He thought that he had to record it in his own eyes no matter what result he was hoping for.
A trembling light crawls across the ground and follows the bloodline.
"It" was closer than he expected.
He was wearing white clothing, similar to a dress. The word "it" comes from the fact that it was so worn that it was hard to see. The hem ripped like a saw blade and dirt that has mixed in here and there has soaked it. It was probably the dirt that caused the thread to stick to the soles of Yata's shoes.
"It" seemed to turn away from him and crouch like a monkey, shaking his head vigorously. He shook his pure white hair, moving his face further and further, and moving his hands to break something.
Each time, the watery sound from before, resonates.
A familiar giant lay in front of "It"
Kamamoto's eyes, illuminated by the lights, were wide open and were no longer looking at anything.
Yata took a step back, it would be terrible to blame him for being shy. Yata's survival instinct demanded a distance from "it", just as a hunted animal would reflexively frighten. Holding his mouth with his hand, while pouring a fixed stare at "it", Yata tries to leave the room.
There was a dry sound under his feet.
"… ?!"
Yata hastily points the light at his feet.
There were Kamamoto's sunglasses. Stepped on by Yata, the lens of the sunglasses snapped in two.
He looked up from the sunglasses and saw "it", terrifyingly.
The movement stopped, as if it had frozen.
Even arms thin like dead trees and hair white like ceramic remain frozen.
The neck began to turn silently.
Slowly and precisely, like the gears of a machine. Turning sideways, diagonally back, and turning 180 degrees, it "saw" Yata.
Kamamoto's words revive in Yata's mind.
("Why is your neck there?")
Looking at Yata with only his face, with his body facing forward.
"It" moves just a little.
Random blood-soaked teeth were stained with a speckled pattern of yellow and red.
"Gaaaaaaaaaaah!"
When he noticed, Yata was sprinting down the hall of the building.
Screams of flight and senseless came from his mouth, the eyes had shed tears incessantly. He is not sure where he is going. However, he wanted to get away from that kitchen as soon as possible.
Yata slipped and fell, trying to turn the corner of the hall at full speed. He crashes into the wall and stops, reflectively looking at the darkness from which he ran.
He couldn't find the figure for "it."
However, only sound was heard.
Regularly echoing sounds and footsteps approached Yata from the other side of the darkness with a speed that shook fear.
Yata got to his feet and started running. His brain made a full rotation. Remembering the layout of the building, He try to find a way out.
As he ran down the hall, he saw a familiar sight.
This is the entrance hall he saw when he first entered the building. A ridiculously huge chandelier and a portrait of Daikaku Kokujoji on the wall of a huge staircase. Yata immediately took the door that led to the outside of the left door.
No matter how much he pushes or pull, it won't open. Even if he turned the key like crazy, kicked the door, or slammed it, the heavy door would not stubbornly move. Full of irritation and anger, Yata says, "Come on! What's this? Open up! Open up!"
However, the screaming, almost crying, stopped immediately. The footsteps were getting closer.
Hita, Hita, Hita, Hita.
Yata let go of all his emotions and ran like a ball. He refused to be there putting all his physical abilities that he refined as an idol.
Yata, who was running like the wind, soon found a bath.
When he enters, it was divided into several private rooms. He pushes open while checking with the PDA light and it slides inside.
When the lights went out, the bathroom filled with a darkness that seemed to crush him.
Yata supports his head as he shakes on the toilet seat.
("What is that, what is that, what is that?")
Did "it" eat Kamamoto?
Anger at his partner's murder swelled through his body, but much more than that, fear of the mysterious monster in front of him. The monster crawls out looking for him at this very moment. Just imagining it makes his skin rust.
After doing it for a while, Yata suddenly came up with something.
"I have to ask for help..."
Of course, the reason the idea that was taken for granted didn't come up until now is because his brain was engulfed in fear. Yata tapped his PDA with his shaking finger and first tried to contact his most trusted boss, Izumo Kusanagi.
At that moment, he heard a voice from the depths of the darkness of the hall.
"Yata-san, where are you? Please answer."
Yata stops his finger and raises his face as if flipped over. The cold, sweaty expression shone with wonder and joy.
"Kamamoto...?"
"Yata-san, please help me. I got hurt."
Without a doubt, it was Rikio Kamamoto's voice.
It has been delayed, but it cannot be wrong. Yata stood up in the bathroom of a private room and sharpened his ears.
Kamamoto's voice seems to come and go right outside the bathroom. Or maybe Kamamoto, who was lying at the time, was still alive. Perhaps he escaped from the monster and came to ask for help.
("Here! Kamamoto, I'm here! We will run away together!")
Yata hastily shut his mouth when he was about to scream.
Not out of self-protection, it was out of doubt.
Is that really Kamamoto's voice?
There is no reason. The questions equal to intuition, however, get louder and louder as he hears Kamamoto's voice.
"Yata-san, Yata-san, where are you? I'm hungry, I'm hungry, I don't care, I want to eat soon."
He had goose bumps.
No matter how much it is Kamamoto, in such a situation, he couldn't think of making such a loud voice and worrying about food.
Yata sat back on the toilet seat. He keeps his mouth closed with watery eyes to prevent any sound from escaping.
Still, Kamamoto's voice continues to call him by name. "Yata-san, where are you?"
Suddenly, Kamamoto's voice cut off.
"……"
Yata blinked. A tear drop was shed. He wondered if he was gone.
There is no way to confirm it. There is not an iota of courage to get out of there. Yata took out the PDA again and started the message app. He absolutely did not want to talk. First he would call Kusanagi, then Kusanagi would call the police.
Yata's PDA sounded with a roaring guitar solo.
"Eh?"
Suoh Mikoto's guitar solo, which he is more intoxicated with than anyone, now sounds like a devastating call from the devil. Yata hurries to look at the PDA. While cursing the idiot who made a call in such a situation, he looks at the screen regretting not having put the silent mode.
His spine froze.
The name "Rikio Kamamoto" was etched on the screen.
He hung up the call and turned off the PDA. As he did so, he thought.
He couldn't think optimistically that Kamamoto was alive. The voice from before was definitely not Kamamoto himself.
So the current call was... that "thing".
That "thing" took Kamamoto's PDA and called it, to find out where it turned on.
About the same time, he was convinced of that, there was a sound of footsteps.
Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap. He has regular intervals and gradually but surely approaches Yata.
Can't bear it. Yata decided to reject the reality in front of him.
He closed his eyes tightly. He covered his ears with both hands. Even if death falls from above one day, try not to look directly at it.
Yet in the dark, Yata thinks.
A feeling of strangeness.
A person can stop his movement of his own free will, but he cannot stop his will. The feeling of strangeness that was born in the dark grew in Yata's brain, because there was nothing else.
Why does he hear footsteps?
The floor of the building is completely strange. The kitchen was really different, but the hallways and bathrooms were filled with crimson delicacy.
The heavy boots would make steps. But that step is barefoot. No matter how fast he run barefoot, the sound should be absorbed by the relief and disappear.
So it's "it".
At that moment, there was something that shone like a revelation.
Can't stop thinking. The discovery cannot be ignored. In that sense, Yata must have been more human than anyone. Even if that means ruin, to confirm his own conscience, he opened his eyes and turned his face away.
On the bathroom ceiling, "it" was stuck.
His palm with dirty claws, every time it sticks to the ceiling, makes a "thump" sound. That was the true identity of the "steps". When he turned his head upside down, the ragged white hair was tousled. Stuck to the ceiling on all fours, "it" had bright red eyes that glowed negatively, exposing turbulent yellow and red teeth.
In the form of a predator who found Yata with no escape.
"No, aaaaaaaaaaah!"
Yata screamed with all his soul. At that moment, Yata's sight turned white.
++++++++++
"Hey! It was amazing!"
With such a voice, the door to the private room was opened.
Behind the door, the film crew, illuminated by electric lights, waited. Kamamoto Rikio holds up the camera, and a man in sunglasses and a red helmet holds a sign that says, "Don't miss it!" The man in the sunglasses looked a lot like Yata's trusted boss, Izumo Kusanagi.
"……"
Yata was watching the scene with all faces dead.
Kamamoto, who should have died, looks at a man who looks like Kusanagi while holding the camera.
"Kusanagi-san, this is…"
"I don't think there will be a reaction. So again."
He hit the sign in front of him.
"Yata-chan? Are you really okay?"
"……"
Yata cannot react.
When the man who looked like Kusanagi sighed, he left the sign to Kamamoto and entered the private room.
"Sure! The idol has a fluid face during the tea ceremony!"
Gently tap Yata's head.
"Ah! Eh, that? Kusanagi-san? Why?"
Kusanagi shakes his head at Yata, who drips confusion as is.
"That's why I told you about it for a while. It's a shocking show! The target is Yata-chan, and the tricks are us, 'Homura Performing Arts Office'."
At that moment, a figure fell from the ceiling. That monster with a shabby dress and white hair.
From "it", the horror was completely lost. She pulled her false teeth out of her mouth, tucked her white hair back, and turned her red eyes to Yata. "It" he breathed through her nose, giving a feeling of fullness to her young face.
"How was it? Was my performance terrifying?"
"Oh, you did it perfectly, Anna!"
"He was scared of you!"
Look at the friends who are raising their thumbs.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah?!"
Yata screamed as loud as he did before.
Ten minutes later.
Yata was angry at the entrance of the building, which was fully lit.
"What's that? It's terrible, Kusanagi-san! Please tell me in advance if you do this kind of thing!"
"Ahaha, Yata-chan, don't talk nonsense. If I told you, you wouldn't be surprised, right?"
"Kamamoto, you were an accessory too! I really thought you were dead!"
"Well, it doesn't matter how much food you eat there, doesn't it?"
Yata struck Kamamoto's head with all his might for the first time in a long time, gathering in his fist all the reaction of fear and anger that he had suffered.
With Kamamoto crouched on his back, Yata turns his resentful eyes on Anna.
"And Anna... even you..."
Anna suddenly looked away, perhaps uncomfortable.
"Because it was work.", Anna muttered.
So everything, it was something that had been organized from the beginning.
The place where the program will be broadcast is "Shirogin Deluxe" remains unchanged. However, it was not actually a visit to Kokujoji's house, but rather a project presented by the "Homura Performing Arts Office".
After seeing it, "Idol King" Isana Yashiro said, "This looks interesting!", And this project received the full backing of the "Tokijikuin Agency". Small dark vision cameras were installed around the building, rabbit costumes rented, and a recreational facility that was no longer in use. The words, actions and reactions Yata has done so far are said to be fully reflected.
Everything to give the Yata lens the greatest fear and obtain the best recordings.
Kusanagi happily explains.
"You know, Yata-chan has become popular lately? He's been featured in entertainment magazines and online, and some people call him 'The Red Prince'."
"Hey, what are you doing?"
"So, I wonder if that's a little different from Yata-chan's politics. I brought this project to highlight Yata-chan's original charm here."
"Eh..."
Honestly, he's not sure about politics or appeal. Yata entered this path longing for Suoh. He really hadn't been aware of how others saw him.
Such a production was the work of Kusanagi at the "Homura Performing Arts Office".
"Thanks to that, I got a good photo! Anna did a good job, and two birds with one stone."
Therefore, it would be nice if Kusanagi were satisfied with his work, although he is not yet convinced.
However, Yata looks at Anna with concern.
"Well Anna, how did you do that?"
Anna shook her head.
"Eh?"
"I see, that... was it glued to the ceiling?"
Anna turns to the side. Look at the hallway wall, put both hands on it, and climb the wall while making noise.
Yata opened his mouth.
Anna asks, glued to the ceiling and looking at Yata upside down.
"What about this?"
"No... that... how...?"
"Expert."
Anna said it with a calm face. Yata watches her like he's looking at something incredible. No, the idea occurred to him that it would be impossible to practice or that she was ignoring the laws of physics, but he felt that even doing it was unsophisticated.
"Well then, what about that? That way of turning the neck."
"This?"
When Anna's neck began to twist, Yata hastily stopped her.
"Wait! Stop! Stop! You don't have to show it!"
Anna returned her head to its original position. Looking at Yata upside down, with a smile.
"Special training."
"No, it's amazing, right?! Kusanagi-san, okay? What are you doing as an idol?"
"Yeah, well it's a subtle thing to say if it's an ant or a pear, but... Anna did her best, so ant!"
"Sweet! Are you really sweet to Anna?"
"Haha, okay, this is also an art style. Wasn't Anna's threatening role in the hallway quite realistic?"
"Yeah, well, I thought my heart would stop..."
Yata muttered that.
Of course, the rage at being cheated continues to smoke.
However, it was even stronger than that, and relief filled Yata's heart. He really thought that Kamamoto was dead, and he really thought they were going to kill him. Rather, he even remembered to praise the production team that created such high quality.
"Well I'm excited about this too. Yata-chan had a good reaction too!"
"Ah…"
When Kusanagi hit him on the back, Yata gave a dry laugh.
"The event has been completed! Please go ahead!"
A staff member who was in charge of the location car outside the building called him out. Kusanagi and other members of the "Homura Performing Arts Office" follow suit and get into the car one after another.
The rain had completely stopped and the light was shining through the clouds. Looking at him, Yata suddenly called to Anna in the seat next to him.
"Hey, Anna, you were on the second floor when we entered the building, right?"
"Eh?"
"No, you know. I saw you by the second floor window."
Anna looks at Yata saying, "I don't know what you're talking about."
Kusanagi, who had either heard or accosted him before, said with a bitter smile.
"Yata-chan, don't say weird things. No one went up the stairs."
"Ah…"
"I had no plans to use the second floor in the first place. No one should have gone."
The relief in his heart changes fast and cold.
So what did you see at the time?
Yata's neck was twisted back, as if it were a physical law. While he thought it was something he shouldn't see, he wanted to make his own discoveries, simple human curiosity.
The exterior of the desolate building. The windows on the second floor open in black at regular intervals. At one of the windows where sunlight enters after the rain, a girl dressed in white was smiling and showing her yellowish teeth.
