Ateez as Danger Days songs

Danger Days (by My Chemical Romance) has a lot of similar aspects and themes to Ateez' discography, mostly because their storylines are both dystopian. So I went through all the Danger Days songs and matched the songs to the Ateez members (more so the characters they play in the lore) based on my personal interpretation of the lore of both groups/bands. It's for my own enjoyment, I had fun.

1. Hongjoong as Vampire Money

Initially I didn't know if I should include Vampire Money because it's not really apart of the overall DD/Killjoys story. But it's very Hongjoong coded, with the David Bowie inspiration, and the fast pace of it all reminds me of his rapping. It stands out from the rest of the album, maybe that reflects on his authority as a Captain. I'm biased but Hongjoong has always reminded me of Gerard Way and his mannerisms, and its especially prevalent in this song. Unrelated but this song is pretty much a diss track on Twilight, and I love Twilight btw, but now it means I can connect Hongjoong to another one of my major interests - vampires.

2. Seonghwa as Destroya

HEAR ME OUT if you know anything about MyChem you probably also know the weird reputation of Destroya. But my reasoning is that behind the somewhat strange vocals, Destroya's main theme is based around a beacon of hope, with the actual character - of the massive robot called Destroya - representing salvation for the oppressed. This theme (in my interpretation) is also in Halazia, because in the music video that scarecrow/Halateez figure seems to represent hope for those people. And Halazia for me always reminds me of Seonghwa, probably because of his visuals in the music video and his siren vocals which I am so in love with.

3. Yunho as The Only Hope For Me Is You

I read up on some of the diary entries a few days ago, but I am by no means we'll versed in what they mean or what they represent. But Yunho's entry was very focused around his brother and a very close relationship between the two, which is also shown in this song as the narrator places their faith entirely in the hands of the person they trust. It connects with the Killjoys (the main characters of Danger Days) as being their wish to be remembered, and I think that's also something Ateez (or Halateez?) would want in their universe.

4. Yeosang as S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W

The distortion on this song is so heavy and that reminds me Yeosang's low register/voice in Halazia & Ep2: Outlaw. The lyrics are really out there with this idea of isolation and separation, and from watching Ateez' music videos (though I definitely don't entirely understand them) Yeosang seems to be more distant from the group on the regular, like when he's trapped in another dimension/world. Furthermore it connects to Ateez lore as "Scarecrow" refers to a police type extermination team, and that could either be Halateez in the earlier MVs or the masked individuals who keep popping up.

5. San as Save Yourself I'll Hold Them Back

This song holds a message of making a name for yourself and being determined to stand up for yourself, both in the real world for the fans and also for the Killjoys in the fictional dystopia. It took me a while to decide who'd fit this concept best, but I decided on San within the MVs he's a very stand out character who's hard to miss, his character obviously strives to be strong and overcome (re: pulling down the moon/sky ball in Halazia) but also in his diary entry he mentions making it "his" world, showing that he's not going to conform to a higher being.

6. Mingi as Party Poison

Party Poison inspired this entire post. This entire deep dive. I made the fatal decision to watch the Bouncy music video (for the 100th time) right after listening to Party Poison and seeing Mingi in the bar put me through it. I'm assuming Mingi is Django, that's my interpretation, and Party Poison is one of the Killjoy characters who's also Django, in a conceptual sense. The song walks you through a very violent encounter where Party (the character) uses dance and music as an accompanying metaphor. Music and dance is a very strong theme here, and obviously it's also a main theme within Ateez' music as a whole. Party Poison is also just a very eccentric person and those vibes shone through with Cowboy Mingi in Bouncy.

7. Wooyoung as Planetary (GO!)

Similarly to Mingi and San, Wooyoung matches with Planetary because of the overarching themes of dance/music as well as overwhelming determination. A big part of the Killjoys characters is that they're never ones to be forgotten and they'll do the craziest out of pocket things in order to be remembered by fellow outsiders or by Blind (the oppressive system) themselves. This brings chaos to the song, I personally think Wooyoung embodies this chaos in his performance and his character within the lore. The song speaks directly to you, as the listener, and it's very easy to imagine Wooyoung being the one to shout these social commentaries at you.

8. Jongho as SING

Again, if you're familiar with My Chemical Romance, you might know that SING doesn't have the most favourable reputation among fans. They're wrong, objectively I disrespect their opinion (jk) because SING is so goated, so top tier. Why Jongho, besides the obvious reason that his singing is off the scales incredible. It's Jongho because the song details the power of singing and music in the face of who want to put you down and the way Jongho's vocals make me feel is like that. He's very inspirational, he said on Lee Mujin's service that he wants to be recognised for the work and effort he's put into his voice and SING represents that view entirely. Goated man for a goated song.

Finally, overall I adore My Chemical Romance and Ateez and they're probably the only thing I think about most of the time. One of the reasons I found myself loving Ateez so much was because I recognised the similarities they have with MyChem so I often find myself comparing them as artists and comparing their songs, mostly the themes within their songs. Obviously it's not a unique idea to portray motivation and inspiration through a dystopian storyline, but Ateez & Mychem (MyTeez? AtChem?) manage to do this incredibly well through both sound and visuals. If you've read all of this then THANK YOU <3 wholeheartedly I appreciate you for giving me the time of day to talk about silly little musical connections, despite them not being that coherent or even making sense.

If you've never listened to Danger Days, or My Chemical Romance, I'd highly recommend it, it's a very enjoyable listening experience. And look into the Killjoys comic book/story if you're into dystopian fiction. and found family tropes

bed at 4am- day one of the video shoot. woke 5:30 am for a 6pm lobby call. car to just outside of nyc. how come starbucks in manhattan aren’t open this early. its just tragic. get to video shoot. start with some scenes revenge of the nerds style. you won’t see some of this coming and those that did hopefully you will fall in love all over again. reminds me of all the movies we grew up on. met the cast. don’t want to spill to many secrets. my mind is swirling. but in the best way possible. got to see all of the overcast kids, s.o. kids and fans- you guys did an amazing job in the video and i just feel great that we don’t have to hire “extras”. more from tommorrow.

“For the lady…” Rebecca says with a smile, holding out my glass of wine for me.

“Thank you,” I say, taking the glass in my hand before refocusing my gaze on the dancefloor where the last few people are still keeping up with the silly beat of the current 60’s song. “You’d think they would have given up by now.” I say, laughing softly as I point down to where Hailey and Elijah are dancing, attempting to keep a somewhat respectable distance between them. Rebecca smiles and moves to rest her glass on the banister of the balcony.

“You’d also think he’d have officially made a move by now, but my big brother does things in his own little way.” She tells me, smiling still as her eyes linger for a sweet second on Marcel Gerard who is making quite the show of the way he’s twirling around his date, her dress shifting higher up her thigh with every turn. Rebecca scoffs softly, taking another large sip of her drink.

“He’s not the only one.” I say with a raised brow, her glass making a soft clinking noise against her ring when she grips onto her glass tighter, eyes drawn tight to show me she’s not exactly pleased with my statement.

“I don’t know what you’re implying, Y/N, but I’d remind you to think very carefully about what you’re going to say next,” She says and turns to face me, leaning forward to make sure I could hear her. “You may very well be my dearest friend and my brother may very well be completely smitten with you, but I’m not above kicking your ass.” She tells me and though her words would prompt a serious tone, I catch the little smile that slips onto her lips when our eyes meet.

“I have yet to see you try, Rebecca,” I offer in reply, laughing lightly as she shakes her head. “Besides,” I start, taking a sip of wine before handing her my glass. “I’d have to remind you that you’d be ruining your own clothing in the process.” I tell her as I move to do a slow twirl and she gasps softly, taking in the Audrey Hepburn inspired ensemble, the black dress and gloves being something that Rebecca had kept from her time spent in the actual decade. Her shock sinks into a small grin as she looks me over, eyes lingering on the pearl necklace we brought at a secondhand boutique last week.

“You look perfectly in place,” She tells me and nods towards the hallway behind us. “Maybe you could convince my brother to step out of his hole long enough to save you a dance.” She says and squeezes my arm softly as she passes by me, losing the glasses on her way down the stairs where she calmly clears the last few guest from the dancefloor and out the door, waving quickly as she closes the door of the ballroom behind her.

I smile, the music seeming louder somehow now that I’m alone in here and I find myself almost drifting down the stairs. I hum to myself, dancing towards the drink table. Swaying to the rhythm as I start pilling empty platters and used plates together.

“You missed the party,” I say softly, not stopping what I’m doing as I hear him still on the balcony above. “It was quite the turnout.” I add, stepping back from the table to look up at him, his lips tilting into a lopsided grin when he sees me.

“My apologies, love,” He shrugs eyes darkening as they slowly make their way from my lips downwards, lingering for a second on the pearls around my neck before slipping lower and lower, until he clears his throat softly, meeting my gaze in an instant. “I clearly had no idea what I’d be missing out on.” He tells me, voice low as he pulls a hand through his hair.

“Maybe you should come down here and get a better look.” I offer, tone matching his as I step back even more, slowly making my way to the dancefloor where he meets me in mere seconds, hands carefully resting on my waist as I move slowly to sway to the gentle melody, eyes glued to his as he lets out a soft breath.

“You are…” He starts, moving a hand to carefully take hold of mine. “Ravishing,” He whispers, the sound sending an almost electric shiver down my spine as he lifts my hand to his mouth where he places a delicate kiss to my palm, not once breaking eye contact. “Tell me..” He begins, using his teeth to carefully pull the glove away, holding my bare hand tightly in his own as he leads me into a dance. “Why won’t you be mine, Y/n?” He asks, holding me against him as he dips me backwards slowly, carefully turning us together before pulling me up to be but inches from his face. “Why won’t you let me love you?” He asks, keeping hold of my waist as he turns me around in his arms where he nimbly lifts my hand in the air, removing the other glove as he attentively traces the length of my arm until I can feel his skin against mine, the glove dropping soundlessly to the floor as I tilt my head to the side to see him.

“We’re dangerous together,” I tell him, carelessly letting him guide my hands to where he needs them and numbly allowing him to spin me out and then in before once again coming face to face with him. “We’d hurt each other,” I say, moving with him as we move one step forward and one step back, twirling and then repeating. “You’d hurt me.” I say, momentarily leaning back against him halfway through the twirl.

“I would never,” He offers and pauses as well, risking the loss of the rhythm to touch my cheek and gain my attention. “I could never.” He adds and I turn around in his hold.

“That’s what they always say,” I say and move my hands to his shoulders where I lead him into the same steps as earlier. “They always promise me forever,” He holds my waist delicately. “They never mean it.” I tell him, his eyes darkening as he tries to read my emotions.

“I am not them, my love,” His eyebrows knit together as he looks me over. “I will gladly give you forever and always and whatever comes after that. I love you. I burn for you,” He announces simply and I let out a shaky breath. “Can you truly say that you don’t feel the same? Tell me you don’t feel anything at all for me?” He asks, voice raw as he waits for a reply and I shake my head, dropping my hands to the side when he suddenly released me from his hold, looking to the sky as he shakes his head as well.

“Klaus,” I begin, pulling at the pearls to release the necklace from my neck, it along with the very obvious tension in the room making me feel like I’m suffocating. “I do feel the same. I feel everything and more, but it doesn’t change the fact that I can’t do this. I can’t possibly give you the power to hurt me.” I drop the pearls to the floor as I fold my arms around me, the playlist coming to an abrupt stop when the slow song ends.

“I understand,” He says after a moment, looking around the room, eyes scattering through the mess of dirty glasses and plates and coats that were left behind. “We should probably allow the staff to clean this place,” He tells me and forces a slight smile when our eyes meet. “Give me a moment to retrieve your things from upstairs and I’ll walk you home.”

“You don’t have to do that.” I say, guilt filling my heart as I see the hurt in his eyes that he couldn’t possibly hide from me even if he had attempted to do so.

“I know,” He says, picking up the fallen gloves and carefully handing them to me. “I want to.” He says, giving me a soft wink before walking up the stairs.

I let out a shaky breath as I pick up the pearls as well, folding them into the gloves to keep them safe and before my mind could even process the thought, I’m walking up the stairs, following the sound of his heartbeat that leads me to the room he spent the night in hiding away from the guests.

I use my foot to carefully push open the slightly ajar door, Klaus’s silhouette visible at the end of the room where he pushes handfuls of paintbrushes into cups of water as an overturned painting rests against the dresser.

“I couldn’t leave them uncleaned,” He informs me, my own heartbeat probably giving me away. “I got distracted downstairs is all, completely slipped my mind.”

“It’s okay,” I say and he looks at me quickly to nod before going back to his brushes and I walk to the center of the room, pulling at the string to turn on the light and get a better view of everything. “You were painting?” I ask, now noticing not just the one canvas, but a whole collection of them, all scattered and resting against multiple pieces of furniture.

“I felt remarkably inspired.” He comments shyly and I smile.

“By what?” I ask, mindfully reaching to turn around the largest of the canvases, the one I saw first and I can’t prevent the audible gasp that leaves my lips when I see the beautiful medley of colors that he’s somehow managed to create my face with.

“You.” He answers absentmindedly, shrugging slightly as he waves my coat and purse in the air to show me that he’s found it amongst everything in here. I smile, bending down to take it all in, every brushstroke and color, every piece of himself that he used to create every stroke of me.

“This is beautiful, Klaus.” I laugh softly, holding the hand with the gloves to my heart as a sudden rush of emotions run though me.

“The painting is only as beautiful as the muse who inspired it,” He comments simply, looking at me sweetly. “I don’t think I could ever verbally explain how much you mean to me, how much I care, how much you’ve changed me purely my existing. I don’t think I could ever completely fathom how remarkable you are and how extremely lucky I am that by some strange twist of faith I’ve been lucky enough to know you,” He laughs softly as well, smiling sheepishly as he catches my gaze. “I want to live my life with you, and I’d wait however long it takes for you to feel the same.”

“Forever?” I ask, standing up and placing the gloves onto the dresser beside me. He nods.

“And always.” He adds and I smile, the dreadful and fearful feeling in my stomach slowly dissolving.

“What about just one more minute?” I ask and he tilts his head, smiling as I slowly make my way towards him, pausing only for a second before cupping his face in mine. “Thirty seconds,” I say and he holds onto my arms. “Ten seconds,” I whisper, his forehead against mine. I breathe out slowly, nodding when our eyes meet, silently asking for permission before his lips delicately meet mine. My entire body filling with butterflies as he pulls away and I smile. “Let’s get married…” I say and his chest vibrates lightly as a happy laugh fills the air, pulling back slightly just to see me.

“Are you sure?” He asks carefully and I nod, pulling him closer to me again.

“I am yours, Niklaus Mikealson. Forever and always.”

“And whatever comes after that.”

Live Forever In The Lights You Make

Word Count: 1,239 words. Notes: ~ Title is from “The Kids From Yesterday” by My Chemical Romance. ~ Female!OC ~ Established relationship ~ Yeah, Current!Era ~ Family!Fic. Oh man is this a lil indulgent. Hey, I follow what my muse wants, and she wanted soft fluffy family stuff! This is, to date, the second shortest thing I’ve ever written, I think? BUT HEY. The shortest, for those wondering, is Call Me Babe For The Weekend: Chapter Twenty Five And A Half - Caught Up In A Moment. (This is if you don’t include the Bonus Part from Born Bob Dylan, which I don’t.) Edit: Lil follow up - If We Can Find Where We Belong

----------- A concert in England, current era. Gerard was back on stage with his brothers - in rock as well as blood, having the time of his life. Everything just felt so… More. So right now. The other guys were playing their hearts out and the fans - oh god, the fans. So many of them were old fans - he knew, he asked every show and was overwhelmed by the roars he got back in response. They had always been there, carrying on quietly and now he believed that they would always be there. Many of them were new fans and that was just as overwhelming because they were singing just as well as the old fans and… They were new fans - the band was still drawing people in and it was amazing. That MyChem had been away for so long and people had still been finding, loving and following them. It was also so… Humbling to hear the crowd out-singing him for every single song. Even when they were songs they never used to play very much. Especially when they out-sung him during songs they’d never even played live before - like tracks from Conventional Weapons. These people had never stopped believing in My Chemical Romance; they had lived, they had carried on for the last however many years. They were the incredible ones, not them as a band. During a short break between tracks while he waited for the others to fiddle with their instruments, Gerard glanced to the side-stage area to see Shelly trying to wrangle their daughter and their son. She was trying to anchor them to her so they didn’t run onto the stage while he was performing, and she seemed to be doing a good job for the most part, at least with their son, who was cuddled against her leg. Their almost teenage daughter, on the other hand, was a little more stubborn (and she got that from both of them) and was currently pouting at her mother. He knew that no matter how well behaved their son was acting right now, he would definitely copy his sister if she managed to get herself loose from their mother. “Hang on a minute guys,” he spoke to the audience. “Just a second.” The rest of the band, and the audience, watched Gerard carefully put his mic back into the stand and take a few steps towards the side of the stage his brother and Frank were before rolling his sleeves up a bit. The rest of the band looked between their frontman and the side of the stage where he was looking, watching as he held his arms out. Shelly held onto their kids a bit tighter, raised an eyebrow, tilting her head. Gerard nodded. The blonde sighed and loosened her grip on her kids, making their daughter, Melody, look up at her as Zack looked up at his sister. Shelly smiled and nodded, giving them permission. At this secondary permission from their mother, both kids untangled themselves from her and hurried across the stage to hug their father. The other guys watched this with a smile, and Frank was reminded of when you finally let go of puppies - the way they would excitedly bound over to whoever they were being kept from. Gerard let out a soft “oof” as his daughter collided with him first, snuggling into his chest as his younger son grabbed onto his legs. Gerard looked up  from hugging his children to where his wife was standing, just offstage, watching. She had her hands clasped in front of her until he caught her eye. When he did that, she held her belly gently with one hand/arm while holding up a finger on her other hand, while keeping that hand low near her stomach so it was almost hidden. She tilted her head slightly to the side, silently asking a question. He knew exactly what she was asking - or at least he thought he did. He’d have to double check with her later. Shelly heard the coos and chorus of “awww!” from the audience at the same time she saw the smiles from the rest of the band. She watched Gerard kiss the top of Melody’s head as he squeezed Zack’s shoulder. She could tell by the way the young girl hid her face against Gerard’s shirt that she was giggling and, probably blushing. She knew her daughter would be reacting like that, even if she couldn’t hear it because of the new wave of affectionate noises from the audience. She giggled to herself as Gerard tried to get them to head back over to her after he’d given them a squeeze, only to have them cling onto him a little more. After another minute or so he managed to get them to start moving away from him but… They got distracted by two of their Uncles. Zack almost rugby tackled his “cool Uncle Mikey,” who ruffled the young boy’s hair, and Melody attached herself to “colourful Uncle Frank.” (Carefully of course, she knew Frank had been hurt and was still healing). She seemed to pout up at him when she realised he didn’t have many of his tattoos on display. Shelly laughed a little more and shook her head at her distractible children before making her own way on stage to try to round them up. Zack was easier to pry off of Mikey than Melody was to tear away from Frank, but Shelly managed. She adored the way the other three were with her children, and how much her children loved them in return. It made her heart swell - especially with the way the kids were waving at Ray, who was too far across the stage for them to have been distracted by him. She knew that the kids would give Ray a massive hug after the show to make up for it though. If they were still awake. She looked up and caught Gerard smiling at her, so she smiled back, Gerard’s smile got bigger and he dashed across the stage to embrace the three of them and to give her a quick kiss. The noises from the audience were a combination of “awws” and wolf whistles. Melody, in the middle of her parents, let out a soft giggle which Shelly echoed. Gerard grinned, let his family go and sauntered back to the mic. “My tolerant, patient, beautiful wife. She’s from here you know,“ he said proudly with the brightest smile. “And my wonderful children, ladies and gentlemen.” Shelly rolled her eyes at him, but couldn’t stop smiling, especially when the attention made Melody hide against her. She hummed and quickly led the two off stage, where she settled with the young ones to watch the rest of the show. “Sorry for the slight interruption there guys,” Gerard pulled the mic out of the holder on the stand again. “Sometimes you’ve gotta grab that moment though, y’know?” “Kids don’t stay small forever,” Mikey spoke into Frank’s mic, having moved to stand next to him so Shelly could gather the children better. “They’re always the light of your life though,” Frank added. “No matter how old they get.” “Yeah, and you live on through your children,” Ray nodded from Gerard’s other side. “Your children and your music,” Gerard smiled at his surrounding family. “Your children, your music, your ever faithful fans who wait decades for you. Right, who wants another song?”

fun fact about Brother by Gerard Way - if you listen very closely at the beginning, you can hear the conversation between Gerard and a hospital nurse. He's begging to know if his brother is okay, and the nurse has to inform him that his brother's committed suicide and is dead on the table.

I think this works incredibly well if you consider that Touya's death may have been pushed/told to his siblings as somewhat of a suicide.

I believe the readers are still so far away from the reality of the Todofam situation and pain.

Probably the Todofam thought it was an accident caused by Touya's need to prove his father that he was still worthy. Still, we know how Natsuo felt about his dad and how he took his distance after losing Touya. He even blames himself for not being able to stop what happened to his older brother, even when it was not his responsibility and he shouldn't had been Touya's sole support.

This song for me is a reminder of how many years have passed since what happened in Sekoto Peak. They all kept going, dealing with the grief the best they could. Endeavor got worst after that, Rei ended up isolated on a hospital, and the kids basically found their ways through life alone.

Natsuo must had missed his brother greatly, being that they slept relatively close to each other. How many nights he woke up from a nightmare hearing Touya's voice or feeling his hand on his shoulder? How many times did he cried alone thinking about it?

And now that Touya is back, and now that they're basically going to lose him again, how does Natsuo feel? Specially knowing is Shouto the one who's out there facing Touya. Both his brothers in a fight, with a great probability of losing one of them.

Here are 5 songs I listen to and love (and the reasons I love them)

1) Skeletons - Brothers Osborn. First heard this in the sandman show and it just gave me the most obnoxious ear worms. I love country music, I love country music to a fault and this is exactly what my dumbass little southerner brain feeds off of. Also watch the sandman el oh el

2) Todo De Ti (All That She Wants) - Omar Rudberg. Again, fuckin ear worms dude. Omar put his whole pussy into that song and I choose to ignore the discourse about the music video in order to pop my pussy severely

3) Tiny Dancer - Florence + The Machines. This is a cover of Elton John’s song and they played this at my job and ever since then I just feel it right in my bones. Florence’s voice is beyond this world and she really should be praised. Weird barefooted lady

4) Wildfire - Cautious Clay. This was introduced to me by the bestie @purplehoodiesimon way back when all of us were discussing songs that are deeply wilmon. And I just resonated hard with the lyrics and the sound. She’s so beautiful and I’d be nowhere without her.

5) Desert Song - My Chemical Romance. Okay, I’ve been leaving little paragraphs here for each song but, with this one I have a lot to say so bare with me.

Up until recently there was only one performance of Desert Song ever done. It’s on the Life On The Murder Scene soundtrack (the documentary mcr did during the three cheers for sweet revenge circuit and post Gerard’s sobriety) and it is the most heart wrenchingly beautiful song I’ve ever heard. There’s only recording because the way Gerard felt that he could perform it was if they were so fucked up on alcohol and drugs that the song itself was ripped from their very center.

According to the band, when asked about this song, they said there was only one session for it and that Gerard had been on such a bad bender the night before that he showed up to the studio still black out drunk. And it reflects in the song itself. It’s about succumbing to your addictions, dying and giving up entirely and it is sung at a time when Gerard was at their lowest low. It is a painful song to listen to.

Now you might be asking why this song of such utter dispare is on this list and why I love it so much. My Chemical Romance is currently on tour, having gotten back together after essentially killing off the band (each member moving onto their own projects). Each night the set is different and so when they performed desert song, no one had any idea. And they did. For the first time since it was recorded they performed this song about succumbing and dying and everything horrible in life and turned it into a victory song.

Ray Toro - lead guitarist and a god - changed the key to the song to a major when the original is in minor thus completely changing the entire meaning to the song itself. Yes it’s still about succumbing to addiction but now it’s changed light, it’s about not beating addiction but surviving addiction which the entire band, but specifically Gerard, did. It’s stunning and I shit you not when I heard it I cried.

You see these men who have been through hell and back performing a song that they never could because it would just break them again, bring them back to their darkest moments, and making it into a song of hope and survival and that you can make it. That they’re alive and happy to be doing what they’re doing again. That they’re okay. And it reminds you that you too can survive. That the road isn’t easy and can be quite painful, but they did it and you can too.

This song reminds me that it’s okay to be hurting and to struggle, but also that there’s something to live for. That life won’t always be so dark and desolate and that you can make it. My Chemical Romance made it and so can you.

charlie is not technically skilled but has the energy. yes, yes, i agree wholeheartedly. can you imagine dancing with him??? you'd be laughing so. hard. because "i'm pretty sure that's not how this works, charlie." "of course it is. i look good doing it." by far, he's the most reckless dancer, but you know he and his partner are just having the time of their lives and create such an infectious levity that everyone can't help but keep going, laughing all the way.

also cam!!!!!!!!!!! you know that charlie thinks cam doesn't know how to dance, so he makes fun of him for it, and then when the moment comes, cam is actually really good???? much better than charlie's technicality by a long shot????? the only thing charlie can say is that cam doesn't ~look~ nearly as good, and he's not having nearly as much fun, but also he's incorrect, and you know he convinces cam to give him lessons by the end of the night. cameron is just like,,,,,, fine, but it's a pity lesson. but then literally everyone knows it isn't because they're best friends what do you mean they have a falling out at the end of the movie i think you've seen a different version, shhhhhh.

and todd!!!!! cass, you are actually so correct about todd's demeanor that i actually saw his face and heard him protest when i read that, asdfghjkhgddfgh. but neil hypes him up so much and gives him a lesson or two and todd is actually pretty good???? he holds his own????? wow, love that for him. what marketable talents all of these boys have.

Mark Forster's role in the Ace Attorney franchise

Okay, first off:

I'm not a fan of Mark Forster's music, please don't take this post the wrong way

There might be some aa trilogy spoilers

Also, I admit this title is pretty bold for what I'm going to say on this topic, but I watch The Voice of Germany with my sister every week and one of the coaches is Mark Forster who I only know like five songs of in total, but his song "Au Revoir" (which is actually a terrible song btw. It's so catchy, I've had it stuck in my head since I woke up this morning and it ruined my day.) kind of reminded me of the whole "Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth chooses death." thing, because the only thing I knew about this song was the refrain:

which would be roughly translated to:

"There is nothing that's holding me back, au revoir / Forget who I was / Forget my name / It will never be the way it was before / I'm off / Au revoir"

But as I looked further into the lyrics I found out there is a "rap part" which tells you about the places the lyrical I will go to when they're away and it contains a passage that adds a beautiful twist to my theory/headcanon (I'm not sure what to call this yet).

"I'm sitting on the Mayan throne in the jungle / [...] / The phoenix is taking off now"

You see where I'm going with this? I know, it's not Phoenix who's leaving and I know the lyrics refer to the Maya Civilization from Mesoamerica, but I thought it was a funny coincidence, that not only does the word "Phoenix" appear in the lyrics of this song, but so does "Maya".

So when I first saw this part of "Au Revoir", I started imagining how Miles Edgeworth would listen to this song and like dramatically sing along to it and start crying or something, but this only posed another question:

How could this scenario happen? How and why would he even come in contact with this song?

My first guess was, Miles probably went to Germany after he left his note, because he grew up there (I think), when he had been adopted by Manfred von Karma as a child, and he heard the song somewhere in the radio because in Germany they blast Mark Forster's music in almost every public space, so there is no escape from it ever. I tried to find out, during which timespan Miles left America, just to make sure if there was a chance that he actually could have heard it on the radio.

In the Ace Attorney wiki this timespan isn't clearly mentioned, but since the last case (Rise from the Ashes) from the first game is set in February 2017 and Edgeworth returns to America in March 2018 I'm guessing, this is exactly the time window in which he's in Germany* (minus some days/weeks of course, because I don't think he'd just leave on the exact same day he had his last trial in America). *to make this easier for me I'm just assuming he spends the entirety of his travels in Germany

But this brings me to my problem, the German Charts of 2017/2018.

As you can see, the only songs by Mark Forster that were in the charts while Miles would be in Germany are the ones above. This means that it is highly unlikely that he knew of "Au Revoir" from the radio, because why would they play this old song if they could also play Mark Forster's more recent songs that are popular right now?

But when exactly was "Au Revoir" popular enough to be in the German Charts?

During my research I looked up these years, too, and it came down to 2014 (the year "Au Revoir" was released) and even a year later in 2015. So there is no way he could have known of this song if his most recent stay in Germany was in 2017, right? (I mean, unless the German people he met then, had literally no taste and forced him to listen to it.)

But I have a pretty simple and logical explanation on how he could have still known of this song, even though he probably wouldn't have heard it in Germany in 2017.

I tried really hard, but I couldn't for my life find real data on Mark Forster's demographic, so just believe me if I tell you that his demographic is mostly preteen and teenage girls. Also, it's worth mentioning that Mark Forster's music is pretty much only known in German speaking countries like Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Now, let's take a closer look at the years, in which Au Revoir was most popular: 2014 and 2015

Who could Miles Edgeworth possibly know, who in 2014/2015 is 1. German, 2. a teenager and 3. a girl? The answer is quite obvious:

His younger sister Franziska von Karma.

Considering that she was either 14 or 15 when "Au Revoir" was released, she fits Mark Forster's demographic perfectly and although I'm not 100% sure if she was in Germany then, I still believe, she must have had at least some connection to Germany in some way, maybe a German friend who she still was in contact with or maybe she had access to German tv, maybe German YouTube channels or social media. And don't get me wrong, I love Franziska von Karma and I wouldn't wish anything bad on her, but at the same time I strongly believe that she'd be the kind of girl who'd have gone through a Mark Forster phase as a teen.

Now remember that I, myself, have a sister. I know what siblings do to annoy each other and I just know from the bottom of my heart that if Franziska really was a fan of Mark Forster's music, she would blast it on any opportunity she'd get. Or she would at least talk about him and his songs with her brother. Believe me. If Franziska really listened to Mark Forster, Miles would have known of him, too. There is literally no other way. (For reference, I know every 1D member's name, birthday and relationship status, although I literally do not care about any of them at all, only because my sister is obsessed with them and talks about them 24/7. Meanwhile the only MCR member I know, is Gerard Way, even though I listen to their music on the daily.)

So here is my conclusion.

Miles Edgeworth definitely listened to "Au Revoir" by Mark Forster on the plane from Japanifornia to Germany and he also definitely cried, after he made sure nobody could see him (especially during the part "Der Phönix macht jetz 'n Abflug"/"The phoenix is taking off now"). Also, he probably listened to the song multiple times during his stay in Germany and you literally can't prove me wrong on this. I mean you could try, but I invested way too much of my time in this to actually care about another person's opinion on my shitty headcanon.

Also, the moment Franziska met Phoenix and Maya, her memories vaulted her right back to her Mark Forster phase and her hatred against Phoenix wasn't solely based on the fact that he was accountable for the conviction of her father Manfred von Karma, her hatred was also ignited by the fact that she probably had "Au Revoir" stuck in her head because of these two for the rest of the day and I just know that this must have completely ruined it for her.

Also, unrelated to anything I've said prior:

Klavier Gavin would definitely collaborate with Mark Forster on at least one song and however severe Franziska's Mark Forster phase might have been, I am convinced Klavier would have outdone her by far. I haven't played AJAA yet, but as much as I've gathered from the fandom, he's like a weeaboo but with Germany, I think? I'm absolutely sure, he wouldn't ever miss a chance like this.
