Now that we have two new ref line ups, allow me to share with y'all some headcanons for some of them!

Rex/Kid Math

Most of our Kid Math takes are based off of FountainPenguin's two Kid Math fics: Factor It In and AlgoRythym. We just love those fics <3

Last name is Pemdas.

Non-binary. Really I just imagine most of the aliens in the show are some flavor of non-binary and Kid Math is no exception.

Autistic and has synesthesia. Same as Becky :) Comes with the territory of being from a subject obsessed planet and gaining superpowers on another world that overstimulates the senses.

His birthday (equivalent on Earth) is Pi day

He is so, so small. 3'7" (or exactly 110 centimeters!) tall. He looks more like he should be in Kindergarten/1st grade than 3rd grade.

More of a Hexagon headcanon than a Kid Math specific one: Hexagon is a very logical planet and as a result, when they do superhero work it's always 1) track down villain 2) get rid of villain 3) day is saved! Wordgirl's way of being a superhero would baffle ANYONE from Hexagon. Kid Math is just a product of his environment.

Mr Big + Leslie

Mr Big is trans.

His orientation is queer because we can't quite pin down what it is but he's definitely not straight.

Stands at 6'5". He's not called "Mr Big " for nothing!

Sees Dr Two-Brains on the weekends ever since their team up in Invasion of the Bunny Lovers. >:3

Leslie is a lesbian. We think she and the Mayor's assistant should kiss but not sure if it's canon to Exploration.

She's only 5'5" but wears 2 inch heels so you can't immediately tell.

Leslie's last name is Little. She's Leslie Little.

Both are in their early/mid 30's. Mr Big is only a couple years older than Leslie.

Granny May

She's been a villain the longest. Being a petty pickpocket since her late teens. Her "career" as a supervillian really took off though when she met her future husband.

Her husband was a man named Walter, who she met after charming her way into some fancy event. She stole his heart and his wallet that night <3

Walter made most of her gadgets that she uses today. Her suit of armor was his wedding present to her.

They got married later than most people from their time. Granny May was very hesitant about marriage at first. Worried it would affect her crime career since she relied mostly on her charm, which works better on suckers men when they think you're single.

Note: I really could go on and on about Granny's past but I'll leave off here because we have a whole episode planned for exploring her past ;)

Granny May has always been very small. In her prime she only stood at 5'1". In her old age she's now only 4'11".

Victoria Best

Dyes her hair. She's a natural brunette but since the rest of her family is blonde it's for the best (heh) that she match her family.

Her eyes are naturally blue but have an unusual red tint to the pupils and iris.

As of Exploration, she's currently taller than Becky at 4'9".

On the aroace spectrum but hasn't figured it out yet. She's the best at ignoring her feelings <3

We have big plans for her :)

Beatrice Bixby/Lady Redundant Woman

In her mid 30's.

Beatrice herself is aroace. Her clones are not. It drives her insane when one of them develops a crush because she doesn't get it.

Her clones are not perfect copies of her. She's had to recall one or two because they refuse to help in her crime sprees.

All her clones are effectively vegetarian because they can only consume ink. Ever since she became Lady Redundant Woman, Beatrice has had to supplement her own diet with ink every now and then. She can just change out her ink cartridge, but it's surprisingly cheaper to just eat ink. Also less of a hassle.

Lady Redundant Woman herself might also just be vegetarian. We haven't figured that out yet.

Tall woman. She stands at 6'1" plus her boots make her appear a couple inches taller. She looks shorter as Beatrice because of her Customer Service Slouch(TM).

She's ambidextrous.

Todd "Scoops" Ming

Hitting him with the trans beam. Came about because of that one episode where, aside from Bob, he was the only boy in the scouts group. We think he joined before he transitioned, and then when he did come out as trans the group wanted him to stay <3 Now he's one of the exceptions because it'd be rude to kick him and also all the other scouts will defend his place with their dying breaths.

Aside from Eugene May (because no one is gonna catch up with him), he's the tallest kid in 7th grade right now at 4'11".

While currently dating Violet, Scoops is bi and has had a couple crushes before Violet. His type seems to be blondes with weird eyes...

ale: we gave him ugly shoes because his top half is the only thing that needs to look presentable.

we obviously also fixed his skintone and haircut. we love you wordgirl, you did this kid so incredibly dirty.

we made his shirt blue because he's a little older now and Raven thought he deserved to have a different shirt.

Violet Heaslip

Her eyes are an unusual pinkish-purple color. Becky and Scoops think it's really cool.

She's currently the same height as Victoria.

Back in 4th grade/beginning of 5th grade she had a crush on Becky. She outgrew it halfway through the school year.

ale: we really just gave her an all-new detailed outfit because, as we realized after we finished her, her outfit is so.... plain for an art kid!

her pockets full of flowers are inspired by a piece of fanart showing the worg kids as elementary schoolers. the doodles on her skirt are inspired by a Dear Evan Hansen lyric.

gets a beret because she's an artist <3

i gave her warmly rainbow socks because i thought they'd look like something i'd see in a Justice as a kid.

TJ Botsford

"TJ" is short for Tim Jr.

His birthday is May 4th.

He's gay but hasn't figured it out yet. Got more important things to worry about such as how to grow the WordGirl Fan Club.

ale: made his skin darker to match with his parents, and his hair darker to match with his skin. and gave him a fade because, like. look at him. he would.

Tim and Sally Botsford (Do not separate <3)

Both are in their late 30's but Sally is older by a couple years.

Tim is just a little taller than average at 5'10", while Sally is close to average height at 5'4", but wears 3 inch heels to give herself that extra height. Makes her a little more intimidating at her job.

They met in college at the ice cream parlor from Whammer Anniversary <3 it was for some get together/study group and the two just clicked.

Their wedding anniversary is October 13th.

Tim is pan.

Tim's family specifically is of Ethiopian descent. It's why his spicier meals pack such a punch.

We mostly just like Sally the way she is <3

As we've mentioned before, Sally is Afro-Latina.

Shown in the episode That's Entertainment, Sally's hair actually becomes poofy and curly when not "blow-dried." Her hair is still like this (it's what inspired us to make her Afro-Latina), but we've decided that her hair becomes straightened through normal straightening means.

ale: made Tim's hair more afro-textured for obvious reasons. also it's canon that it used to look like that. also, he's graying more.

made Tim more brown because we couldn't live with keeping him orange.

i INSISTED that he keep his horrible outfit. everyone watching me draw him hated it, however, he is my "horrible fashion sense" king.

we mostly kept Sally the same, just made her skin more skin-tone like. also, we turned that weird line in her hair into a gray streak, because she's a little older now, and we couldn't figure out why it was there.

I had an idea for an AU that I brought up a while ago but never fully did anything with, but now I’ve fleshed it out a bit more.

Basically, it’s a bunch of more multiverse shenanigans. In ‘A World Without Wordgirl’ we see a future where Chuck rules over fair city. This AU is based on the idea of “what if a different villain had control over fair city?”

Some of the villains may have more goofy societies. For example, I doubt Two Brains wants that much other than cheese. It could be made more darker where he literally forces the whole city to being devoted to giving him all the cheese he wants.

Tobey could possibly become more obsessed with Wordgirl and go full Go Gadget Go levels of obsession (keep in mind this AU is less ‘what if wordgirl never existed’ and just alternate realities if ‘what if this villain took over the city like Chuck did.’)

The most fleshed out AU is if Mr Big controlled the city. He still uses mind control, but it’s used more as a threat of ‘either do this thing, or you become a mind controlled minion.’ I kinda got inspired from how in Big’s Big Plan (or whatever that episode was called where he became mayor) he plasters his face everywhere. Now that he’s got full control he doesn’t hold back on this at all, and his image is plastered everywhere, as a constant reminder that he’s in charge. Everything’s his branding, so everyone’s money goes to him. However, the biggest reveal is that Mr Big is hardly actually running the city, Leslie is the one making half the decisions.

Baby Show Villain Tournament: Round 2

Peep the Bracket!

We made it through our first round, and honestly, it was a ton of fun you guys! A bunch of people, followers and non, made this first round kind of awesome!!!

Of course, we lost a few that are really sad to me. Esteban and Orsino my beloveds. The Shuffler, who I got pretty attached to, without seeing the show. Odlulu, who Tabs got attached to without seeing the show. Mayor Humdinger, who lost to Oscar the Grouch, despite him not being a villain. Regina, who had a super strong fight against Donita Donata, and the Bobos, who only received ONE VOTE against Robbie Rotten.

Fun fact, we started with 21 Dealer's Choice characters, and now we're down to 14! More than half remain! This means I got pretty good taste I think! Granted if you count Huxley and Robbie as not dealers choice it means 12/19. Still good odds!

I decided we're gonna keep doing 8 a day! I like the energy of it! I'll post the first ones soon after this! Keep sending in propaganda too, especially for this half! They need some!

Shadow Phoenix Au

So this is a Wordgirl Noir type au which is like the show a bit but also more serious. It includes aged up kid characters 13-15 range, aliens don't exist but there are mutants, metas, and magic, and a lot of serious and somber elements (This is also a revamp of my mutants and metas of fair city au, but I am keeping that au and the side blog up.) Starting with the setting of Fair City. So the government and law enforcement is a lot better than canon. There still is some corruption but mainly with oc characters and not canon characters that I will introduce later on (when I think if them lol). There is not much serious devision like in my mutants and metas au, though there are a few factions. The villains in this au are either, mutant, human, meta, or magical. The magical people will include mythological monsters and magic users. There is a committee called Fair City People Unite or FCPU which is a good clean organization that consists of scientist, law keepers, political figures, and regular citizens. Their job is to keep the laws and regulations of Fair City equal for all citizens and prevent discrimination. They also are in charge of helping police, fire fighters, medical workers, etc. be prepared and ready to deal with all the variety of citizens living in Fair City This organization has many leaders which include the canon mayor who is not mayor in this au. There is also a villain rehabilitation program organized by the FCPU that helps villains serve jobs or community service for minor crimes instead of putting them in jail all the time. (Eris idea for villain rehab) Becky in this au is a 14 year old girl living with her single dad "Steven" and Bob. She is part metahuman and part magical. Along with her canon powers she also has pyrokinetic abilities. He trusted Rachel, but the slight fear kept him from explaining what he learned. "That's terrible! Oh, that poor girl! I would be ticked, too!" Hyde nodded, agreeing with her. "So he brought me to city hall where he went to meet his sister and make a complaint against the bastard. I met her after their meeting. I'll have to say this, she was terrifying. All three of them are. What is with that family anyway?" Rachel was surprised to hear this. "She seems like an actually good mayor. It's a shame she got stuck with an incompetent police force." Rachel shook her head in disapproval. "She gets the job done, and they have the nerve to treat her so horribly? We're lucky Amber didn't hear that, or she would be just as angry." It was true. She adored WordGirl and would've done everything she could to defend her. Rachel seemed just as upset over hearing about what happened. It made sense that she would. Rachel always had a big heart and emphasized with others. Hyde would never admit it, but that's one of the traits that he had admired in Rachel. Dr. Two-Brains couldn't keep this from Becky any longer. She deserved to know everything. Well, not the gruesome details but everything in general. "What are you talking about, dad?" It's why your uncle, aunt and I don't have belly buttons.” The villain pulled his shirt up just enough to show his lack of a belly button. Becky seemed shocked by what her father had revealed. Her eyes were widened. “You're a clone?” Dr.Two-Brains nodded, pulling his shirt back down. “Yes.” Becky seemed confused about something. “I understand why you didn't want to tell me about Maddrix but what happened to my other grandfather?” She regretted asking her question when it looked like her father got struck. His expression was filled with such sadness and pain. “I don't speak about him because it is still painful to recall. He was taken when I was only eighteen. I don't know how but some horrible people found out about what my father had done. They had found out about me. I was with my father in the classroom where he taught at a college when something terrible happened. Those horrible people didn't like that my dad didn't entertain their idea about buying me. They tried to take me anyway. Though my father and my cousin were the reason I was able to make my escape from these horrible people. They protected me. My cousin had died helping me. He was shot by them. I couldn't stay and help. I had to leave him and my father there.” The mad scientist was starting to get emotional. Tears started to well up within his eyes. “They died there. A fire was started. That fire led to an explosion. They both didn't make it. My cousin's name was Steven Boxleitner. My uncle had allowed me to use his name so I can go undetected by those people who were after me. Your uncle Victor and your aunt Emily were both out of the house and out of the city at the time. So they weren't around when it happened. Eventually, we reunited here in Fair City. I had to tell them exactly what happened.” The poor villain was crying freely now. The tears wouldn't stop and he wasn't bothering to wipe them away.

Though someone this Miss Ito did know Henry Jekyll. Did his brother's new boyfriend get this woman to look into him? If so, why didn't this man just ask Dr.Two-Brains about himself? This raised more questions than it answered. Maybe Henry didn't have the courage to look into his brother after he gave him a little 'friendly' talk. Yet the thinly veiled threats Victor had made shouldn't have been enough to get the teacher looking into Dr.Two-Brains. There was also the fact that Henry had no idea that Victor could find out who was hacking. Perhaps the man was intelligent enough to have the heat on someone else just in case they were found out, but he didn't seem like the type to do so. Especially to someone he had entrusted The Society to. Victor was going to have to get a few agents to take a little trip to check out why they decided to hack like they did. Maybe Robert Lanyon had someone to do with Miss Itos hacking. It would be expected when the man's father had been murdered. Perhaps he wanted to make sure that Henry was safe. Maybe this man was protecting Henry from someone who was threatening him. This could've had the culprit retaliate against the doctor by going after Henry or Robert could be responsible for his own father's murder and for Mr. Carew's attempted murder. The reason both Mr. Hyde and Henry left could be because Robert was threatening one and framing the other. Victor felt a headache coming on. For now, he was going to find out exactly where Robert was. If he wanted to take over The Society, he would've easily done so. Yet he didn't, instead only oversaw important business. He couldn't scratch any of his theories out just yet. He didn't know what was going on, but he was going to find out. He didn't realize that Eris had finally gotten home. He didn't notice the sound of the apartment door opening and closing. “Victor, are you okay? You look like you're stressed about something.” He expressed his concern, brows furrowed. “Eris! I'm fine. I was just overthinking some things.” Eris went over to Victor and placed a kiss on his temple. “Get some rest, my sweet. You'll be able to figure things out better with fresh eyes.” Victor smiled at his boyfriend. “You're right. I'll take a nap. If you'll join me.” Eris smiled at that. He found Victor endearing. The toymaker closed his laptop. Meanwhile in another part of the city, two people were arguing. “Must you stalk these people? I would rather not have the police sniffing around if they take legal action.” The woman shook her head. “It is necessary. I must save that girl from that horrid man. Who knows what he could do to them. I'm doing what is right.” The blond man shook his head. “You admitted that you were interested in our plan.” Calvin frowned at that. “I didn't do anything too crazy. I promise.” Athena muttered under her breath. Athena began to pace a bit. She wanted Dr.Two-Brains to break and admit who he is. “You're making me dizzy, cousin.”

Athena gave a weak glare towards Calvin's rudeness. "You know I can't help it. I haven't been the same after what that demon did to me!" Athena snapped back. Calvin merely huffed. Deep down, he couldn't help but feel some intimidation from the mouse man, especially when he knew what that abomination was capable of. At first, Calvin was shocked to hear what the man did to his cousin. He had always viewed Steven, or Gene, or whatever it called himself, as a sniveling worm with goody moral ethics. He never thought that the man was capable of doing something that heinous, even with his paternal instincts heightened. Things made much more sense to Calvin once he learned of his former coworker's family background. "Very well. Continue with your plans. I have other matters to attend to." Calvin exclaimed in a haughty tone, waving off Athena's anger. Athena gave him a suspicious look. "What are you planning that is more important than my mission?" She inquired. "Well why you have been playing vigilante stalker to a babysitter and her charge, I have been looking into the reason for the Mad Science League's sudden movement here." Calvin explained. Athena looked surprised at that. "Adrian Barton is here?" The B.E.A.W labs' leader has expressed interest in the mysterious Mad Science League. A small group of scientists lead by a self proclaimed immortal man whose made it his mission to fight against tyranny and corruption of the higher classes. Adrian Barton and his associates had proven too slippery for capture due to the man's chaotic and unpredictable movements. Athena was curious and confused as to why he came here of all places. "We don't know why he is here or what business he has, but for some reason he has made himself more open in public though he has maintained a cautious guard. I last saw him talking with Professor Doohickey, though I highly doubt the reason he came to this city was to help the man's predicament." Calvin answered as if he seemed to understand what his cousin was thinking. "Do you think it has something to do with the murder of Mr. Hastie Lanyon?" Athena asked as she recalled hearing about the murder. Calvin shook his head. "I doubt Barton was behind that. He has a clear hatred for the rich and elite, but he would have been more subtle in killing that man, actually making it look like a robbery in progress that went bad. There is another reason why Mr. Barton is here. One in which I intend to find out. So hopefully your antics won't interfere in my mission. Good day Athena." Soon Calvin walked away, leaving the deranged woman to her own thoughts and delusions. "Blimey! Those cleaners know how to clean out goop stains. It looks brand new." Hyde exclaimed in a joyous tone once he received his outfit from Rachel. "Yep. It appears people getting their clothes ruined by goop is a common occurrence around here. So they developed a new way to remove the stains and residue even thought it takes a lot of time. It's definitely well worth it. I must say." Rachel replied with agreement. Hyde ginned widely at his clean outfit. He then looked back towards Rachel. "So, anything happened while ah was gone?" Hyde inquired. Rachel quickly shook her head. "Not really. Like I said, we waited a long time at the cleaners. Also Wordgirl showed up trying to stop a robbery caused by Lady Redundant Woman. She gave a wave to Amber before she flew off. Amber got a little fussy on the way home, but it was likely due to us being out for so long. She's fine now." Rachel explained. Hyde nodded but the usually grinning blonde had a serious expression as he thought back to what happened and what Whiskers admitted to him. "Did Wordgirl seem okay to ye?" Hyde inquired. Rachel looked confused by his question and expression. "She seemed alright to me. Why do you ask?" Rachel was surprised to hear Hyde express genuine concern for anyone that wasn't Amber, herself, or one of the lodgers. Do you have any Mouse Man AU headcanons?

Steven has become a bit petty and sarcastic after the accident. Which is well deserved form him since he his now a half human half mouse creature and woke up from a painful experiment.

Steven woke up a few days in the hospital after the accident. Squeaky was placed in a cage at his house. Becky was checked on by their neighbors the Botsfords while Steven was out cold.

Tubing and Doohickey bring Steven to the hospital. Steven after he wakes up is worried about how Becky would react if she saw him now. He doesn't want her to be scared. Tubing assures him that Becky had already seen what he looks like now and is more worried about his health and well being than his appearance. Becky gives her dad a firm hug, glad to see he is okay.

The Botsfords are friends with Steven and Becky in this au as well.

The introductory episode for Dr. Two Brains is for Dr. James Jenkins but it ties with Steven as well. Steven comes home after the hospital visit and for breakfast has an urge to make something with cheese so he makes cheese omelets for him and Becky. He theorizes that he must have developed some of Squeaky's eating habits which involve Cheese. So Steven devises a scientific chart to plan out which type of cheese he can eat also how to combine cheese with other foods so he can maintain his human diet. Becky in the beginning worriedly asks her dad about his new obsession with cheese but Steven assures Becky that he has no motivation to steal it, just eat it. They plan to go to the grocery store to buy cheese along with other stuff. Soon the alarm goes off but its Dr. Jenkins who is turning the food in the grocery store into candy but it tastes bad unfortunately. Wordgirl tries to stop him but someone recognizes Steven apparently and fan mob him because of his book. Dr. Jenkins uses that to escape.

(I agree 100% with @djsadbean and her Steven working for city hall in the crime unit headcanon)

So back at city hall Steven, Wordgirl, Huggy, the mayor, Sally Botsford, and a few members of the scientific community heads come together to discuss what happened and Wordgirl and Steven find out about Jenkins. Steven and Wordgirl are miffed at the scientists who degraded Jenkins' work because he had some pretty good ideas and working experiments. The scientists ignore them and say Jenkins was nothing but a hack. Steven wants to argue back for this guys case but he can't because he unfortunately is under these people as well and can't risk his job which he has to raise Becky. Wordgirl later asks her dad what she should do. Steven says as much as he hates to admit it, Jenkins' has to be taken to jail to pay for his crimes of destruction and hopefully he can get some therapy help there (surprise: the city doesn't pay for villain therapists) So the introduction episode goes the same as canon episode with a few more minor differences. Ex. Steven and Becky try to talk Dr. Jenkins out of being a villain, but ultimately have to stop him and the police just take him away like a criminal. Also no cheese stealing invovled.

In the mouse brain takeover episode, Squeaky is the only one around who sees Steven go into mouse mode. As Steven runs off, Squeaky yells at him to bring back some cheese.

Squeaky is kept around because Steven does not want the mouse to cause anymore trouble.

Steven just enjoys sassing out Victoria's parents every time he encounters them.

For the Two Brains quartet episode - Jenkins builds a ray that manipulates sound waves - people don't sound awful when singing but just bizarre. Bampy joins his family for the quartet part. Bob joins Steven, Tubing, and Doohickey after Steven gave his daughter the role of manager.

Two Brains boogie - Steven just covers his face when he sees his child dance, he does lay down some sick moves when helping Tim shut off the force field ray.

Steven still does not like cats now. He is not at the point where he thinks they are going to eat them, but he flinches badly when they are around.

Steven still gives his daughter hero advice and does his best to help her when she is in trouble.

"Why don't I introduce my family to you before you leave. This is my brother, Dr.Two-Brains." Adrian felt Hyde's eyes burning into him. He cursed the bad timing. If only he was just a bit faster. He wouldn't be there. Mayor Emily had no idea that he was actively avoiding both Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde. Adrian couldn't blame her nor feel any anger towards her. Only at himself and the bad timing. "It's nice to meet you, Dr.Two-Brains." He reluctantly extended his hand over to shake the villain's hand. The mad scientist raised an eyebrow at that and shook Adrian's hand. "It's nice to meet you as well. What's your name?" Adrian wanted to facepalm himself. It would be suspicious if he didn't tell them. "My name is Adrian Barton." The villain analyzed Adrian. Why did this nervous stranger look so familiar? He wanted to say something about it, yet he kept quiet. Why was he so nervous anyway? Was it because Dr.Two-Brains was a villain and he wasn't expecting it? Perhaps it was the mouse brain that caused it. That is what the mad scientist had thought until he noticed Adrian keep glancing at Hyde. Oh. It wasn't him but his mentee! But why? Why did the guy seem so anxious to get away from Hyde? It seemed that Adrian had confused the criminal as well. He just sat there and stared at the other. There wasn't any hint of anger or disdain in his expression so it couldn't have been a bad encounter. If Emily seemed to be on good terms, this man could be trusted. It was difficult to earn Emily's trust. Extremely difficult. The mad scientist decided he would merely keep an eye out. “I'll tell you more about Mr. Barton when we have more time to speak. I promise, you're going to want to know why. You'll understand why I introduced you two.”

WordGirl had just finished subduing a villain. It was Lady Redundant Woman. She was robbing a jewelry store. All of the clones were also tied up. WordGirl seemed content with their failed escapes. It helped her. The young hero hadn't realized that she had an audience watching her. She recognized Amber immediately. She was holding hands with Rachel. She smiled and waved at them. WordGirls smile faltered when she saw a familiar necklace. It was the exact same necklace that Hyde had stolen when they first encountered each other. Amber was wearing it. The little girl seemed so excited to see WordGirl. She kept waving enthusiastically. The young hero had a realization. Hyde is connected to her teacher. She heard of a bit of Hyde but nothing that included Hyde caring for Amber. It confused WordGirl. How was Mr. Hyde connected to Dr. Jekyll? The question kept repeating within her mind. He gifted Amber the stolen necklace. They were still in contact unlike what she overheard. Why would they want to hide that they were still in contact? Yet another question popped up in her mind. Was her teacher aware that Mr. Hyde stole that necklace given to his daughter or had Mr. Hyde lied about it? It didn't sit right with Becky. She smiled awkwardly at the audience. WordGirl waves weakly at Amber who was just happy to be acknowledged. She wondered if she should talk to her dad about it. Though she didn't want to bother him about yet another issue. He seemed upset when she brought up Maddrix the malicious. She didn't want to upset him again by asking more questions. The girl still felt guilty for what happened before.

Becky Boxleitner noticed a change in the atmosphere as she and her pet monkey Bob walked into the sixth grade classroom. All of the students were excitedly chatting with one another. Becky and Bob exchanged confused looks at the scene. 'What is going on?' They both thought. Becky walked to where her friends Violet Heaslip, Rose Franklin, and Todd Scoops Ming were sitting, also joining in the excited yet low volume chattering. "Hey guys what's going on?" Becky asked her friends. They each turned their heads to greet their friend. "Hey Becky guess what, we're getting a new teacher for our class!" Scoops exclaimed. Becky looked surprised at the announcement. Bob also mimicked her facial expression. "Wait really? What happened to Miss Davis?" Becky asked, wondering what happened to their old teacher. It was just a week only into the new school year so a sudden teacher exchange was a complete shock to Becky especially since there were no announcements about it beforehand. "Miss Davis had to move back home because of a family emergency." Rose Franklin answered. "The principal had to scramble to find a new teacher to fill in for our class. It was all last minute stuff." Becky nodded in understanding of her friends' answers. It was a nice perk to be friends who were upcoming reporters. Soon the final bell rang which indicated for every student to take their seats. Becky took her place beside her best friend Violet and Bob plopped down next to her. Soon a man who looked to be in his mid 30s walked in and towards the desk. He had curly brown air, an arched nose, and reddish brown eyes. He wore a tan button-down shirt with a red vest as well as brown slacks and dark suede shoes. The man gave a pleasant and warm smile to all the students there. "Hello my name is Dr. Henry Jekyll and I will be your teacher for the school year." Becky and the other kids ears perked up as they took note of the man's accent. Even Tobey became slightly interested in his new teacher. None of them were sure where their new teacher was from. Dr. Jekyll gave a light chuckle as if he could sense their growing curiosity about him. He lightly clapped his hands together to gain their undivided attention and focus. "Well since this is my first time teaching here, why don't we all play a little game so we can all get better acquainted with each other. Here's what to do. One at a time, say your name and share a wee bit about yourself. Likes, family, interests and all that. I'll go first to show ya what ah mean. Again. My name is Dr. Henry Jekyll. I was born in Glasgow but ah moved to London where I attended university. I have a five year old wee lassie or daughter named Amber. I enjoy chemistry and reading on occasions. Now who would like to go next?" @unhingedexperimenter

Of course Tobey had taken the opportunity to place attention on himself and to have a reason to boast about himself. “My name is Tobey McCallister the third and I will be the most intelligent student you'll meet here.” The others had rolled their eyes, used to this kind of behavior from their peers. Becky seemed to be the most annoyed by it. Having been forced to put up with his destructive tantrums in the past. Henry smiled just as warmly as before. Unbothered by the obnoxious behavior that the boy had been displaying. Tobey had been going on about himself for a good few minutes before the teacher finally spoke up. “Ahem, yes. Thank you for that Mr. McCallister. Would anyone else like to tell me a bit about themselves as well?” No one could tell that behind the facade, Dr. Henry Jekyll was becoming more irritated by the moment. Not by the child but by the pest that refused to leave him be. Scoffing within his head at what they just heard. He didn't share the disembodied voice's opinion but wanted to give the other children a chance to introduce themselves as well. To the others' shock, Tobey seemed to have taken this well. Quickly going back to his desk with no issues. Becky was relieved at that. Soon the other children had started to introduce themselves to their new teacher with little to no issues. He seemed genuinely nice enough to her. This new teacher didn't seem like most of the adults within this city. Some she had to define words repeatedly for. Dr. Jekyll knew what he was teaching and knew his vocabulary. It was Violet who had brought Becky out from her own thoughts, calling her name. Waving a hand in front of her face. “Becky?” The girl smiled in an embarrassed manner. “Huh? Yes?” Violet smiled, patient with her best friend. “Why don't you introduce yourself now? Nearly everybody else already did.” She had given a surprised expression. Becky hadn't realized that she was so lost within her thoughts until then. She stood up and began speaking. “My name is Becky Boxleitner and I also like libraries,reading and Pretty Princess.” The presence that was grating at the teacher's nerves had deemed this too dull to enjoy. Leaving Dr. Jekyll be to his teaching. Well, getting to know his students. He was happy to see that they were engaged in these activities that were meant to break the ice. Though one student in particular had caught his attention the most. Becky. While she did seem rather bright, there was something strange about her behavior at times. Pausing whatever she was doing at the time to listen in on something. Thinking it went unnoticed. Even once looking alarmed and she made an excuse to go to the bathroom. He had allowed it. Feeling that it would've been better to have let her. It seemed…oddly familiar. As if he had seen that behavior somewhere before but couldn't figure out exactly where from. When the school day was finally over, Becky had gone to go home like the others. Dr. Jekyll had of course stayed behind to set more things up within his new classroom. Making a plan on exactly what he'll actually start teaching the next day. Though, the grating voice had returned to be a thorn in his side. “Come on. Leave this boring stuff alone. Leave it until tomorrow. I've been pent up for far too long. Let's have some fun.” This had earned an eye roll and a loud huff from the teacher. “No, I've got to get this done now. You will have enough time tonight. Just be patient until then.” A shadowy figure formed in front of Dr. Jekyll. A frown on its face. “But this is so extremely dull. I want to stretch my legs. I want to make myself known already.” Dr. Jekyll glared. “And that is precisely why I'm so hesitant to let you out so soon. At least let us get acclimated to our surroundings first.” The figure let out an annoyed groan. “You know you want this as much as I do. Otherwise you'd never have any actual fun in the sad and pathetic life you call yours.”
