Through the windswept coastal trees
Where the dead come rising from the sea
With a teddy-bear clamped between her knees
She says, where can my loverman be?
Well, I'm down here, babe, with the Eskimos
With the polar bears and the Arctic snow
With a party of penguins who do not know
How I can get back to thee
Well I'm gonna ask you, babe
Hey! Ho!
Oh baby don't you go
Hey! Ho!
Oh no no no
Hey! Ho!
Oh baby, don't you go
All supernatural on me
Supernaturally
Once I was your hearts desire
Now I am the ape hunkered by the fire
With my knuckles dragging through the mire
You float by so majestically
You're my north, my south, my east, my west
Well you are the girl that I love best
With an army of tanks bursting from your chest
I wave my little white flag at thee
Well can you see it, babe?
Hey! Ho!
Oh baby don't you go
Hey! Ho!
Oh no no no
Hey! Ho!
Oh baby, don't you go
All supernatural on me
Supernaturally
Now I've turned the mirrors to wall
And I've emptied out the peopled halls
And I've nailed shut the windows and locked the doors
There is no escape, you see
And I chase you up and down the stairs
Well, under tables and over chairs
Well I reach out and I touch your hair
And it cuts me like a knife
For there is always some little thing you gotta do
Hey! Ho!
Oh baby don't go
Hey! Ho!
Well baby, no no no
Hey! Ho!
Oh don't you go
All supernatural on me
Supernaturally
Hey! Ho!
Hey! Ho!
Hey! Ho!

In the story, Orpheus, a legendary Greek musician, uses his music to rescue his beloved Eurydice from Pluto, the god of the Underworld. I’m on a Hadestown high- specifically Orpheus- specifically Reeve Carney’s Orpheus
I need to… throw up about this (/pos) IN CHANT II HADES SAYS “You can strum your lyre, I have strung the world in wire”- MY POINT IS OG ORPHEUS PROBABLY HAD A LYRE AND THEY GAVE HIM A GUITARE IN THE MUSICAL BECAUSE ITS EASIER AND ALSO WHERE ARE YOU GONNA FIND A LYRE??? ANYWAYS I’m SORRY IDK LYRES MAKE ME SO HAPPY 💀 SO HE GETS ONE NOW
I ALSO JUST REMEMBERED THAT IN COME HOME WITH ME HE TELLS EURYDICE “I also play the lyre” I’m DRAWING HIM WITH A LYRE FROM NOW ON.

I love telling people I play the lyre because
1. They have no fucking clue what that is
2. They think I enjoy spouting falsehoods
3. I get to gush about its history and how cool it is

"The Death of Eurydice" (#2 in my Orpheus and Eurydice series)
But the three Moirai (fates) weave and cut their strings of mortal’s destinies, and this love was not destined to last. Dancing barefoot upon the forest floor with the nymphs, Eurydice was bitten by a venomous snake and tragically died. Orpheus played such music of melancholy mourning as to make the trees bow and weep.
The Latin poet Virgil gives a lush description of lament from his poem, “Georgicks:”…“But the choir of sister Dryads filled the tops of the mountains with their cries: the rooks of Rhodope wept, and high Pangaea, and the martial land of Rhesus, and the Getae, and Hebrus, and Attic Orithyia. He assuaging his love-sick mind with his hollow lyre, lamented thee, sweet wife, thee on the solitary shore, thee when day approached, thee when it disappeared.” (-translated by John Martyn.)
We have multiple sources giving variations recounting Eurydice’s death. According to Ovid, she was walking along the riverside with her sister dryad nymphs, while Vergil has her escaping a rape attempt by another son of Apollo; a pastoral god named Aristaeus. But the authors agree that her death results from the bite of a poisonous viper.
As always, thanks for looking! And if you could share this post with your followers I'd be so grateful as to rescue you from the pits of tartarus with only my lyre. :D xoxo
we should also add this kickstarter info at the end of every post:

I like to imagine that, when she was feeling less angry, Eurydice played Orpheus' music and remembered the good times
I deleted my art side blog a while ago, so I'll be slowly reposting some of my older stuff here

I legitimately cannot stop thinking about cc Donnie getting Kraang possessed
Everyone not fighting back because they feel that they deserve this, like that it's some kind of retribution.
Donnie feeling extreme guilt because how could he? They've been so good to him as of late, and he repays them like that?
Ughhh so good
honestlyyyy there's so many possibilities with it especially considering the role reversal. how they were mind controlled to hurt him and now the tables have turned. how easy it is to succumb and how difficult it is to break out because he was conditioned so much during those three months. the guilt and shame after and ESPECIALLY the several ideas you can get for how leo's little speech would go that actually does break him out, like he did to raph in the movie ....
and he probably would have gotten there by self-sacrificing, which would be the problem that leo would be dealing with, that reckless disregard for himself. once more he's donnie's guide. once more he's his role model and he didn't even know it, and now all of that put donnie here. he cant help but feel like everything has always been his fault for not knowing, when he felt like out of everyone he was supposed to. donnie is his twin, and leo was the only person donnie was comfortable confiding in, having rooftop conversations with, letting stitch his shell and actually being truly vulnerable around-- and every time its his own insecurity that makes him blind to how deeply it truly goes.
just like before. just like now.
