Court of Madness

I’m back again with another piece inspired by @mvjerbs’s Mad King Ambrosius piece/AU.

My first piece for this AU

As you can see, this piece includes the Mad King himself and mvjerb’s design for him! He’s a lot scarier in their version, but I think he at least looks mad here. Side profiles aren’t my strong suit but I’m working on it! Also, yes! Ambrosius is slightly taller than Charlotte.

To quote my shower thought from earlier: “Many fear the Mad King and wouldn’t dare defy him. Others numb themselves to his fury. A slim few will stand in his way and walk away with their lives.”

One of those people who can actually confront him on things is, of course, his sister (or half-sister, but I just call them siblings). Although they don’t have the same relationship as they do in my “canon” stories of Charlotte, they’re still undeniably bonded and trust one another. But in this AU, I think they might punch each other in the face if the other one is going out of line. Sibling shit ❤️

I don’t know what the hell Ambrosius is so pissed about, but Charlotte isn’t having any of it. Neither of them are wearing their capes because I wanted to really focus on their body language and that’s more easily achieved if you can see the bodies.

I already have more sketches for pieces for this AU. I’ve never felt so artistically inspired in my life and I’m drawing constantly, so look forward to more stuff!

A close up of the sibs! I’d like to draw attention to the respective gold and silver rings they’re wearing. These are sibling rings that Ambrosius got for them for Charlotte’s 16th birthday. While I think they’re generally colder, they still love each other too much to actually get rid of these or even stop wearing them. I love these two so much, even when they’ve gone mad.

This is just something I thought was funny. I pasted that picture of Ambrosius into my canvas so that I could get a good idea of his side profile, and it ended up looking like Ambrosius was yelling at himself. Sort of symbolic or something.

Which...makes the scene even funnier actually.#A comic in which everyone is dogs was never something I thought I'd make but here we are!#Marcille is a borzoi (elf of dogs). Tolden siblings are golden lab-retrievers.#Senshi is a scottish terrier. Chilchuck is harder; I need to think on that one. Another terrier perhaps.#Happy Thistle Thursday once again. Hail to the Mad King

Inspired by @mvjerbs latest Mad King Ambrosius piece. I literally saw it and went “well. I’ve got to give him an executioner.”

So, here she is. For those who don’t know, this is Charlotte, Ambrosius’s half-sister. She loved and cared for Ballister a lot as well, so since the Director executes him in this AU, I think she’d go a bit mad too. She and Ambrosius can do mad shit together. Just sibling things ❤️

I tried to give her the same color palette as Ambrosius here and for those of you who already know her, you’ll also notice I cut her hair and shaved her head. Just because.
