An eternal middle finger to whomever at Microsoft was/is responsible for thinking it deeply necessary for my PC to shut itself down whilst several applications are running, in each of which unsaved work is open, in order for it to install updates which, I expect, will have absolutely no impact on how I continue to use it (apart from, perhaps, awakening a desire to set it barbarically on fire)

Bruce gets accosted by reporters and one of them asks "Is it true that you're in competition with Superman to win Batman's affections?" and he is so taken aback bc what the fuck are they even talking about? There are a million questions going through his head such as, since when was superman into batman? since when was this public knowledge? wtf did bruce say to imply that he was into batman as well? And he doesn't have an answer to any of these questions so he just smiles and says, "No, I'm not. The word competition implies that Superman has a chance, which he does not."

why did he say that? Bruce doesn't know, it just felt like that's how Bruce Wayne would've responded bc what's more Brucie than fighting with Superman for Batman's heart? anyway, upon reflection, this was maybe not the best response in terms of long term consequences, but he's committed to the bit now.

a week after all this goes down, news reporter Clark Kent is caught saying that Batman deserves better than Bruce Wayne, so is a third suitor putting his hat in the ring to win over batman?

Julian Bashir walks a very fine, maddening line between “self-loathing imposter syndrome who knows almost everyone who speaks to him for more than a minute finds him insufferable” and “incredibly self assured and annoyingly arrogant to the point of a minor god complex”.

He knows he’s attractive, he thinks he’s charming as all hell, he knows he’s the smartest person in the room (while also being acutely aware he’s going to put his foot in his mouth any second now), and he just swings wildly between “I don’t deserve anything I have, none of this is mine, my life is not my own, I am a monster” and “HELL YEAH LOOK HOW COOL AND SMART I AM GUYS ARE YOU LOOKING ARE YOU LOOKING”.

And then there’s episodes that reveal that underneath that annoying arrogance, at the very core of who he is, he really, really just wants to help people, and if he fucks that up he WILL take it personally and hold himself responsible even if there’s no way he could have known and like. Can you imagine what his first patient death was like for him. Can you imagine what a fucking nightmare his brain must be 24/7.

He is somehow as inherently self assured as he is in need of constant validation for his ego because you can SEE him break a little when that ego fails him, even a little, and it’s just.

He’s very fun to write. I hate him. (I love him so much, but oh my god.)

What would happen if one of the twins, most likely Jon calls Otto a servant during an argument. Whose side would Viserys take? Maybe Jon overheard Otto bad-mouthing Daemon and pouring poison in Viserys ears. Jon protested, Otto got sneery and haughty and Jon dropped the 'servant' bomb. What would everyone's reactions be. How would Alicent react to being reduced to a servant's daughter and how would her children. What about the court? Rhaenyra and her family? The rest of the Velaryons?

I mean, Otto is the member of a very proud house, so I doubt many lords would look kindly on an uppity young prince denigrating him, though they might dismiss it as Daemon's bad influence. Otto would probably be incredibly smooth about it, and take on an air of saintly patience/humility and profess to being a servant of the realm, young prince, there is no shame in that.

Not that there wouldn't be a few people cheering him on, but generally, an eight-year-old prince low in the succession acting like he's the better of a man who has spent decades serving two different Targaryen kings as Hand and is the father of the queen isn't going to cause many ripples beyond hurting Daemon's reputation by proxy.
