Damn it Marvel! Why'd the Squadron Sinister have to be cooler than the Justice League members they're ripping off! Doctor Spectrum and Nighthawk especially (they seem way cooler than Batman and Hal Jordan to me). Apparently even your rip offs of DC are cooler than DC! Because seriously, Nighthawk is way cooler than Batman! I found him a bit dull when I tried to read the defenders years ago, but he's still way cooler than batman! (Avengers #69):

-FLASHBACK FRIDAY- To the 25/07/2024: The Whizzer.

Continuing my quest to draw various Marvel superheroes! Here's another one I drew way back in July and that's "The Whizzer".

Now If you thought DC's "The Flash" had a silly origin what with being struck by lightning and doused with chemicals. Then Marvel's the Whizzer might be more so.

After being bitten by a poisonous snake, Robert Frank was injected with a serum that contained mongoose blood (Mongoose's are the natural predator to Snakes see).

The Serum triggered Frank's latent Mutant abilities and gave him superhuman speed. Calling himself the "Whizzer", Frank was a costumed hero during the 1940s and joined the All-Winners squad alongside Captain America, Sub-Mariner and the Human Torch (Not Johnny Storm the Human Torch a different one).

I know The Whizzer isn't Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's actual dad, but I still think we should acknowledge him as part of their family. He probably makes a better dad than magneto, honestly. I mean, the whizzer didn't shoot wanda in the head. Magneto sets a low bar, is all I'm saying.

And even if they don't share a blood relationship now, why not add The Whizzer and Nuklo to the family? They may as well be. I mean, not like there's anywhere else I can see them really fitting in.

Avengers #153 (Conway/Buscema, Nov 1976). Lots of returns! Wonder Man and Wanda’s father, the Whizzer of WW2, are both manipulated by the Living Laser to attack the Avengers. Wanda’s parentage has been a surprise as I read these old comics — I thought her dad was Magneto, but I guess that’s a retcon?

Whispers of a coming comfort

This is a piece that I absolutely speedran last night (started a 9ish and finished at 2am) and the idea had been rattling around in my head for about a month so I'm really happy I finally got to paint it

( also I know theres like. a little bit of disagreement on how Marvin dies, but regardless I know that Whizzer was with him in his last moments.)
