When I was doing my research for this part of DC, Officina intrigued me as one of those multi-level Italian places with a more casual bar on the first floor and a more formal dining room on the second. (When I was in Toronto, I encountered this as well and enjoyed the experience.) I made it in time to enjoy the happy hour in the cafe, and then I went up to the second floor (where they also have a bar) to get some pasta for dinner, and my pasta alla gricia was good, it was heavy from a lot of guanciale fat. 

My little slice of pizza with prosciutto and arugula was fantastic, as was the crostini with mushroom ragu that I want to recreate at home, so at the very least I got some excellent inspiration from this meal!

Perhaps the best deal down by The Wharf is the happy hour at Mi Vida, as it’s available at the bar from 11:30 AM until 6 PM every Monday through Friday. I went here for a very lovely lunch and enjoyed the hell out of some deviled eggs with pumpkin seeds as well as a fish taco and a shrimp taco. It hit the spot, along with a local Mexican-style lager, and I would happily go here again (or to either of their other locations in DC, for that matter).
