Marbled Monday
This week’s Marbled Monday is The Traveller, A Poem by Oliver Goldsmith (1728-1774) with an engraving designed by Samuel Wale (1721-1786) and engraved by Charles Grignion (1721-1810). Goldsmith’s best known work may be his novel The Vicar of Wakefield, though he also wrote several other poems. This book was printed for T. Carnan and F. Newbery Junior in St. Paul’s Church Yard, London, in 1774.
The binding is not contemporary to the work inside it, and was likely done at some point during the 20th century. This marbling is a bouquet or peacock pattern, done in a dark grey, light grey, and cream color scheme that is paired with a light grey-green book cloth for the spine.

Obsessive but still somewhat sane! Damian Wayne x Dimensional Time Traveling Prince! Danny Fenton
(Yet another poem:>)
In the shadows he was trained, a child of just eight,
By assassins, he learned to kill, to manipulate fate.
But amidst the darkness, a light did shine,
In the form of a boy, so handsome and fine.
Though eighteen in years, in truth he was but fourteen,
The child couldn't resist, his heart was so keen.
To win the older boy's love, his affection and care,
He tried to woo him, but the boy was aware.
Of the age gap between them, the difference so wide,
He only wanted friendship, to stay by his side.
But the child was determined, his love burning bright,
He would not give up, without putting up a fight.
The boy was kind, patient and true,
He tried to gently let the child down, but it was no use.
For the child's love was fierce, his devotion unmatched,
He refused to accept that their love was detached.
And so the story goes on, as the child's love grows,
Hoping one day, the boy's heart he'll expose.
In a world of darkness, in a game of deceit,
Love may conquer all, in this tale so sweet.

Obsessive but still somewhat sane! Damian Wayne x Dimensional Time Traveling Prince! Danny Fenton
(I made a poem about them instead of sleeping :>)
In the shadows, a young assassin trained,
With skills that could not be feigned.
At just eight years old, he was lethal and quick,
His presence alone enough to make enemies sick.
But behind the cold exterior he portrayed,
Lurked a heart that longed for love's sweet serenade.
And so it was, in the dead of night,
That he met a boy who shone so bright.
An eighteen-year-old with power and might,
But it was his kindness that caught the young assassin's sight.
He tried to woo him with all of his might,
But the older boy resisted, saying it wasn't right.
Their age gap too vast, their worlds apart,
Yet the young assassin was determined to win his heart.
He followed the boy wherever he'd go,
Just to show him how much he loved him so.
But the older boy, wise beyond his years,
Knew that their love would only lead to tears.
So he tried to be kind, to just be friends,
Hoping the young assassin would understand in the end.
But the young assassin refused to give in,
His heart filled with a love he couldn't contain within.
And so the two remained in a delicate dance,
One yearning for romance, the other just a chance.
In the end, their love was never meant to be,
But the young assassin learned a lesson, you see.
That love knows no age, nor boundaries set,
And sometimes, it's enough to simply be met.
