Sort of a distant tangent off my post about Ashton, but I'm growing more and more suspicious of the fandom claim that there's no time for small RP moments in Campaign 3. I do think that it's been challenging to get deeper party bonding or serious conversations that aren't about the big philosophical questions they're facing, since those do take much more time; but then I think about Calamity, or Candela Obscura. I can genuinely give you at least a couple paragraphs about pretty much every relationship in the two Circles, or in the Ring of Brass. I can also point to no shortage of small moments between characters in the Mighty Nein Aeor or Vox Machina Vecna endgame episodes, which were all extremely plot-heavy and fast-paced, and D20 consistently nails character relationships in a fraction of the time.

I think it really does come down to, as Brennan Lee Mulligan always says, the character creation phase. Laying down a solid groundwork in which everyone has a detailed, rich backstory and sense of personality and relationship history (in the case of characters who knew each other prior to the start of the series) is absolutely crucial, and even in the case of characters who don't know each other before going in, a good amount of time spent in character creation ensures that it's easier for them to develop those interpersonal relationships on the fly. I know in actual play there's some degree of finding the character as you play, but there are games for which there is a very short runway, and I don't think it ever hurts to do more extensive character prep than the bare minimum. And if there are gaps, I think it also helps to go back and fill those in mid-way, away from the table - Travis clarifying Chetney's backstory being a great example that allowed the history of Chetney and Deanna to feel realized and full, despite only a few episodes.

I'll also be blunt: most of the time when people complain that there aren't moments because the plot keeps moving...they're mad about shipping. Which has always rung hollow to me. It was a common complaint in C2, that no time was taken for character relationships, despite them taking an entire half of an episode for the Beauyasha date and despite no shortage of moments for all three of the other couples (and plenty of platonic moments between friends). The issue was never a lack of time; it was that the characters they wanted to talk to each other didn't actually have the relationship in canon that the fans had dreamed up, and so, when the chips were down, they went to other people.

It takes two seconds to say something like "I hold their hand", even in the middle of plot-heavy adventuring. If someone doesn't say it, it's rarely the GM rushing them; it's the player either choosing not to do so, or not remembering to do so, and either of those is quite revealing regarding how the player feels about that relationship and where it stands in their priorities.

Advanced Space Transportation Program (ASTP)

"The X-34 Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) concept is pictured here. NASA plarned to utilize the X-34 small reusable booster for research of Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) technologies that may be applicable to future larger RLV's. It was being developed cooperatively by Orbital Science Corporation, Rockwell International Corporation, and NASA. The objectives of the X-34 program were to significantly reduce launch costs for small payloads and to provide a test bed for NASA RLV technology. The X-34 would be launched from a 747 shuttle carrier aircraft. After delivering its payload (booster by an upper stage) to orbit, it would land autonomously on the same runway from which the 747 departed. The X-34 vehicle was powered by a liquid oxygen tank (LOX) and an RP-1 liquid Fastrac engine that was designed and built by Marshall Space Flight Center. The X-34 would be capable of speeds up to Mach 8 and altitudes of 250,000 feet. The X-34 program was cancelled in 2001."

chaeyeon was born and raised in gangnam district, from a wealthy family. and the youngest sibling of @lgchanie !

chaeyeon mastered the art of playing the perfect daughter. in front of her parents, she's flawless. her mom props her up like a doll, and in her father’s eyes, she can do no wrong.

chaeyeon was hypersensitive to other people's intentions and emotions since a little girl. whether it was a need for mental stimulation or the competition for affection as the only daughter, she always stood out.

in school, she absorbed the education years ahead of her peers, proudly self-declaring her eidetic memory at just eight years old. she played soccer and tennis, joined clubs, etc, you know the rest.

THEN she's shipped off to the prestigious academy her family has attended for generations.

thats when the 3JAE, a group of girls from affluent families, approach her. she didn’t understand why—they were a year above her, wealthier, she didn’t particularly stand out, she didn't even meet the 'jae name' criteria lol

i basically dug through 'the heathers' purse and took out the murder bits.

they give chaeyeon a makeover!

massive disclaimer the 3Jaes didn't engage in tw:bullying or any overtly mean girl behavior, but their presence was undeniable.

they were always together, either as 4, 3, or 2, inseparable. "you'll meet the 'jaes' soon enough. and chaeyeon," classmates would warn new kids, "don't be fooled by their shiny hair."

visits to her parents were happy, mainly due to her increasingly busy social calendar. her parents seemed more thrilled about her choice in friends than she was or her grades.

the elevated status that came from associating with high-class lawyers, CEOs, and renowned artists boosted them—people they might never have met if not for chaeyeon's connections, was a high.

for chaeyeon, too, she got to model, walk runways at 16, jet-set across the world, all because of who she was friends with.

when the 3jaes graduated before her, chaeyeon felt an unexpected emptiness. the chaotic camaraderie they shared, though long overdue for a separation, had forged sister-like bonds.

their departure left a BIG void, compelling her to seriously consider her brother's advice: to follow him to legacy entertainment!

joining the company was like stepping into another act, another game, but the routine and new peers offered a refreshing change.

she's honestly throwing herself into this new environment!

Right before Lillie is set to go off to Kanto, Reader stops her, saying they have a present before she leaves. They hand her a Pokeball and out pops Nebby, (as a Lunala or Solgaleo, your choice) they say their reason is that Nebby is absolutely more her partner than theirs and that 'you can't travel without your starter'.

Am I the only one who felt a lil weird about having Nebby turned Lunala/Solgaleo as their Pokemon? Bc Nebby definitely felt more like Lillie's than anything. Also I always keep my starter in my party for any big fight, very few exceptions.

This is short and sweet. I love Lillie, she's another one of the kiddos I've adopted in this series. Also I totally get it; I felt so wrong keeping the legendary when it was with Lillie the entire game. I'll just go catch the other legendary and call it a day. Nebby belongs with Lillie.

You watched as Lillie carried her stuff up the runway of the ship, ready to leave for who knows how long. You felt the pokeball on your hip shake a bit and you patted it, reassuring it that you hadn't forgotten,

"Lillie, you've forgotten something!" You called out with a smile, approaching her. Lillie paused, looking around for what she was supposed to have taken with her. Hau was next to you, smiling like an idiot. The two of you had discussed the right course of action, and decided what had to be done.

"I did?" The blonde girl asked, not knowing what she was supposed to have grabbed before leaving.

"Catch!" You said, grabbing Lunala's ball and throwing it at her. Lillie was thankfully quick to grasp the ball, gasping in shock as she held the ball in her hands.

"I...why are you giving me Nebby?" Lillie asked, caressing the pokeball softly as she looked at her good friend.

"Why else?" You asked with a laugh, "You can't exactly go on an adventure without your starter pokemon alongside you." You explained, hands now stuffed in your shorts pockets.

"My starter?" Lillie asked and Hau was now speaking up.

"Ya, Nebby was with you from the start, right?' he asked, his grin contagious, "That makes 'em your starter."

"Hau is right, Nebby is your pokemon. it just doesn't feel right for me to keep them." You said as you covered your mouth, "Besides, you should've seen the fit Nebby threw when you were talking about leaving without them."

Lillie felt the ball shaking, as if the pokemon inside was arguing their point. Lillie held it up to her chest and smiled.

"I...thank you guys...I'll take good care of Nebby and become a trainer you guys can be proud of." Lillie said, a faint blush on her cheeks.

"Lillie, we've always been proud."

Being an ally is a interesting thing, growing up in a conservative family i've often wondered where my unconscious biases are, how do i spot them if i'm not conscious of them? How do I learn what I need to unlearn? For me, it's been a journey. I got into queer communities via furry twitch during the pandemic (and yes, i'll wear the Furry label). 2020 was one of the times ever. we all wanted some form of interaction with people even if it was just to know that other people still existed and we weren't living out some 'book of eli' lone survivor scenario. Being stuck at home, the obvious answer was the internet, but reading text posts on reddit & news articles doesn't have that same level of interaction....and then i found twitch. ooooh....i can pet the furry streamer....and chat with them.....and this is ticking boxes in very weird ways....learning what 'parasocial' means....it was a wild ride (and still is)! Part of this was joining discord communities and getting to know people a bit better, and as someone who had just come into those communities who didn't understand a lot of queer culture and history and just wanted people to hang out with while the world burned down outside my door....it was scary! was I going to say something wrong? do something wrong? offend someone? what if i get banned?

Obviously that didn't happen, and the communities i joined were actually great places, warm & welcoming, gave people room to explore & understand, we shared memories and created new ones together. But I wanted to do better than that, I wanted to understand better what terms like enby and ace meant, terms I hadn't heard growing up or in school, I'd seen the terms on the internet in the past, but never had cause to look into it myself at the time. Learning is a dangerous thing, you discover things that challenge you, asking you to question your beliefs and preconceptions, but I knew if i wanted to be a better ally I needed to learn some things, challenge myself to understand and embrace it (whatever the answer is). so i started buying books. It was extremely convenient that at the time there happened to be an lgbtqia+ bookshop next to the train station where i was working, picked up a few things, understood some terms better, got a better handle on some ideas, asked some discord friends to clarify some terms. Then i bought this:

I'd seen people use the aroace tag on discord and twitch and wanted to learn more and I WAS NOT PREPARED TO READ A BOOK ABOUT ME. Ok, so i've been single my whole life, and never felt like dating, and don't want to have sex, and there was one point where i was wondering if I could RP with a fursona....but that whole concept just ended up feeling way too weird and never got onto the runway and basically exploded in the hanger... I wasn't ready to find out that I was part of the A in LGBTQIA+, I was supposed to be an ally not an allee?....is that even a word??....i decree this is a word. After the initial bout of confusion and wtf-ness, i've come to accept the label, it doesn't change who i am, but i does help myself & others to understand me better. I'm still pondering microlabels, leaning toward aegosexual (unless i find an even better match), but happy to live under the a-spec umbrella.

Learning is scary! you can find out that you were wrong for your whole life, that you're not in fact weird or broken in some way for not "getting" relationships like so many others, but that you are in fact perfectly fine. Finding out that i'm part of the queer community really highlights how i see other people's actions toward it....I get it now, maybe i don't get "all" of it still, but I do get a lot more of it. It's given me a lot to think about. So thank you furry twitch for giving me the space to learn about myself, and thank you Sarah & Kayla for the awesome book!

From September 25 to 29, 2023, the Polish Air Force conducted aircraft takeoffs and landings on a stretch of a public highway, including the MiG-29 Fulcrum and Su-22 Fitter jets.

The military exercise codenamed "ROTA 604" was carried out on the road stretch of the airport - DOL or Drogowy Odcinek Lotniskowy in Polish - of the provincial road nº 604, southeast of Gdansk.

"This training allows our pilots and ground support teams to operate in the event of a crisis, for example, when they have to fly from an alternative temporary facility if they cannot land at their base," said Lieutenant Colonel Magda Busz, spokeswoman for the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces. “This is the first military exercise using highways in 20 years; it offers an opportunity to improve the skills and resilience of our crew,” she added.

The Allies recently conducted similar maneuvers to expose their pilots to the challenges involved in this type of expeditionary operation. The Finns regularly make landings and takeoffs on highways and, earlier this month, the Norwegian F-35s and the British Typhoons joined the Finnish F-18s during the Baana 23 road exercise.

🎭 Can you envision your OC in an alternate universe? What au would you choose and what role would they be in that world?

I could easily picture an AU where they’re all human models that go on the runway with fancy high fashioned clothing and they have work space drama behind the scenes.

🔨 Are there any whump tropes that you'd love to see your OC's reactions to even though you couldn't or wouldn't put it into your actual story for whatever reason?

Mhh… Theres a lot of scenes and tropes I would love to have that just don’t work out for the characters or the style of story it is!! Like, its meant to be on the “lighter” side of whump since its more G/t focused, so theres no heavy torture or nsfw elements even if I like imagining darker content. So many times my friends have suggested killing a character off for a poll option but its just not that kind of story. All the characters should be relatively safe, if not a bit scared or injured. So theres limitations for sure!!

🥇 Pick one aspect of your story that you are particularly fond of. Anything at all.

I really love how well it works as a CYOA story since I never really knew what format would fit best for the characters before. Im pleased with how its turned out so far and how it’s been perceived by readers. I also really like how the art itself tells the story more of less, because I can show my non reader fans the art and they are still totally into it without having to read through the chapters. I actually post the art on a different website without any context and some people have been following along just from that.

🔪 Are there any other writer's whumper/whumpee OCs you think would be particularly interesting for your OC to engage with?

Its hard to think of any since I haven’t done RP in a long long time and I feel kind of awkward tagging anyone that I can think of from tumblr haha but I had one rp a long time ago with a shape shifter who adopted Hamster and it was so cute because the shape shifter could shift into creatures that were Hamsters size and play with her (like a bee or a mouse)

🧿 Whether you actually get there or not, what are your hopes for your OC's future?

God what was it I was asking for us to collectively work towards for an ending again? 🤣

The ideal ending for this would be for Soap Scrub to escape and get Hamster to run away with him but I truly don’t see that happening, at least not for a while of built mutual trust between the two and Hamster to actually *want* to leave Ashley.

But you never know!! I never know whats going to happen with how these poll options go, maybe we’ll work towards that together and make it happen <3
