A local roller derby team will host a fundraiser ahead of its final bout of the season. The Silicon Valley Roller Derby will put on its Skate-a-Thon from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at The Plex, 800 Embedded Way in San Jose. A small dcaXy/n idea I had

Premis: Y/N works part time in the daycare but doesn't really interact with the dca which doesn't mean the dca didn't notice them there.

Start of the story

Y/N gets messages from an unknown number and decides to answer

They start messaging thinking that they don't know each other at all

They notice that the tone and wording in the messages switches completely throughout the day but get used to it way too fast

Y/N's life is a complete mess right now so Unknown is a pleasant distraction

They never tell each other their real names but use nicknames instead

Both share how they feel often and text about life and just anything that they think of

Someday y/n just calls their unknown friend to share some great news because they have no one else they want to share it with

They don't pick up but call back later

A male voice they have never heard answers. A pleasant one. They talk for hours.

But the voice tells them to only call at night bc he can't talk on the phone while working. But texting is fine

Y/N falls in love over late night phone calls and long text convos

They ask if they could meet up and hang out

He doesn't answer

The connection goes silent

The last thing he sent is "I'm so sorry. But I can't" written only a few minutes after their question (in the middle of the day)

Hours go by and they get no answer from him anymore

Hurt and worried Y/N is in a daze of crying and starring at nothing for the rest of the week

This is when Y/N misses their break bc they stayed in the daycare closet to cry

As they step out the daycare is dark sth that Y/N was never there to see

Then they hear it. The voice of the person they love singing from where the kids are sleeping.

Y/N stumbles through the dark until they reach the kids and lock eyes with the daycare attendant

Moon goes quiet and his eyes betray him and show his shock

Y/N is stunned

"It's you?"

An “what if there’s a pizzaplex location in China” au

They're an Eclipse, but you can just call them Wu Dan

They are a theater bot from the Shanghai pizzaplex, they play the Wu Dan role (female warrior/fighter role) in Traditional Chinese opera. They can sing they can dance, they perform with a spear, and they do Bian Lian mask trick.

Most time they stay as Eclipse but if needed they can switch between Sun and Moon on command. As the picture shows, the red mask is Sun, the Blue mask is moon, the split face is when both are up but not in sync, they can’t stay like that for long it burns their battery, and the white face is Eclipse

Sun is more hot headed and extroverted, Moon is more ‘hohoho I’m evil’ and introverted, when split face, they’re mostly having a fight and they use their traits against each other, when Eclipse, their traits are combined creating an neutralized version of themselves

long-story short, Sun doesn’t believe he has emotions since he is a robot 😔

of course, he sees Moon and Eclipse emote all the time. he usually attributes it to Moon being a fool (believing he is something he's not) and Eclipse being manipulative (given that he was originally built for the theater)

but there is a part of him that wonders if he is missing something—he just doesn’t understand what that is

Note: i should also mention, his voice is almost completely monotone. the closet idea of a voice claim for this Sun is Greg Chun's voice for Lukas from Fire Emblem Echoes—fairly even in tone, somewhat soft

I have ditched Spotify. I know, I know, it's not an airport etc etc. But I had some thoughts.

A big part of making the decision was the 20+ years of MP3 files sitting disorganised and abandoned on various hard drives and old devices. I spent this past week or so organising them all onto one hard drive, updating file names and tags and folder structures so I could load them all into Plex.

I have a lot of music. Most of it ripped from CDs, some bought as MP3s, and some recorded from cassette tapes using an audio jack and a dream. There's bands I haven't thought about in years; ones that, once reminded, I missed terribly.

It made me realise in the 6 or so years I've had Spotify I've listened to less and less music overall and certainly to fewer once-beloved bands/albums. (I didn't even realise Linkin Park had a new album with a new co-lead singer, a woman, who is incredible.)

Now my music is all set up in Plex, I'm listening to it through PlexAmp, a fantastic music app I'm running on an old tablet, bluetoothed to some decent speakers instead of the crappy computer ones.

Result? I've maybe listened to more music this past week than in all of 2024.

Now there's obviously a novelty factor at play, having everything easily available for the first time in so long, but I think there's something else going on.

Algorithmically, Spotify fed me music. I had a few playlists, a few bands saved, but I didn't have a collection of my music. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge music buff, so without my music in front of me, without being able to flip through my personal musical history, the music I'd curated, it was just kind of lost. Listening to Spotify was more like walking through a record store or listening to the radio. I forgot about what I enjoyed and just listened to what was convenient.

Having all my music at my fingertips is making me happy. Happy listening and happy looking through my collection and happy remembering that yeah, that is an awesome album! It makes my brain feel good and I remember when I first heard it, who I was with, what was happening in my life!

It's awesome.

no i dont think pizza plex fics/aus are overdone or boring. i literally NEVER get tired of it!!

it brings me joy seeing these animatronics fall in love, develop meaningful relationships, and somehow miraculously survive the pizzaplex being ON FIRE over and over again

im shaking hands with every Y/N who ends up kissing the robots or just having an incredibly deep bond that isn't quite romantic or platonic and is actually a secret third thing that is incredibly gay after a series of near death experiences!!! <33

Plex Au! Time to Stretch!

This 1861 home in New Orleans, LA has been renovated into a triplex. However, the listing says that it can also be a single family. It has a total of 6bds, 4bds, 2,680 sq ft, $765k.

It's quite a sunny home. They made this a living/dining room combo with the original fireplace.

A wide opening is almost open concept to the kitchen.

I like the kitchen remodel, especially the details on the island and the original fireplace. It's clever how they floated a table and a sideboard on the wall next to the fireplace. I like the way that looks.

The bedrooms are typically not very large, but this one is nice and has good natural light.

They've got a Murphy bed in this room.

There's a lovely bath off this bedroom. It has nice beadboard wainscoting, a vintage tub and a pretty double sink.

Bedroom #3 is a child's room.

The laundry also has a shower and a cute little sink.

The 2nd unit is on the upper floor. It has a very light kitchen/living room combo and a door to a terrace.

The kitchen is very nice, but could use a backsplash and some sort of exhaust.

Look at the beams across the open ceiling in the primary bedroom. Love the original fireplace.

The 2nd bd. is small and appears to be a nursery.

The layout is a little awkward up here, but I'd call it "creative." It doesn't look bad, but I would've tried to configure it differently. I don't like not having any option but a rain shower, though.

There's a small courtyard in the back, plus a very nice, separate guest house. The lot is 3,000 sq ft, so there's not much land, but the guest house has a big porch.

This is lovely, isn't it? Has an original, but non-working, fireplace. I feel like they could've made the kitchen a little smaller to give the living room area more space.

It has a laundry room, which is always a plus.

A 3pc. bath.

And, there's a nice roomy bd. on the 2nd level.
