“Don’t look at me like that.” 

Steve insisted, staring at Soda seriously, all while holding something protectively in his arms. “If you had wanted it you should have said something!” “But it was my chocolate cake Steve! I called dibs!” Soda insisted with a pout. “I called it this morning that it was mine after work!” And it was true, he had in fact called dibs on the last slice of the decadent chocolate dessert right before they had left this morning. He had been waiting all day for that cake, and his best friend had taken it out from under him like that? What a jackass. “Dibs doesn’t count unless you’re on the property, and you know it.” Steve started with a slight roll of his eyes, pulling it closer to him to avoid any wayward hands trying to snag it. “Or if you're within’ sight of the thing you're callin’ dibs on. That can count too,” It depended on the situation in his opinion. “*You* Sodypop, called dibs when we were still on the street out front, that don’t count.” Steve took a triumphant bite of the chocolate cake to punctuate his point. “If ya want a slice so damn bad, go an’ make yourself another cake,”

“But it isn’t the same, this is the one Darry made!” The blonde insisted stubbornly, still pouting like a little kid, just as stubborn as ever before the blonde paused, coming up with an idea. “Hey, how about this. I’ll arm wrestle you for it!” He suggested eagerly, lighting up at his own thought.

Of course, he thought that was a good idea. But goddammit, that look in his eyes was so endearing. Steve just couldn’t say no. He set the plate of the delicious desert to the side so he could go up against Soda properly, placing his arm up onto the table. “Fine. But it's your funeral, got it?” He teased as Soda’s hand grasped onto his hand with a determined, lopsided grin. “More like yours!”

That stupid smile. If Steve was to blame his loss on anything it would have to be that. It would have to be how he couldn’t help but get distracted by that stupidly charismatic grin. There was a reason why everyone always referred to the middle Curtis brother as movie star handsome, unfortunately. No one was immune to his charms. Not even Steve, who had seen the other at his absolute worst, could do it. It had at the very least been a close match though! And if anyone else asked, he already knew his plan was to say that Soda had cheated to get the cake. And yet, seeing him swipe the cake with that triumphant glitter to his eyes? That alone made it more than worth it.

id like to think you guys were friends before he dropped out in highschool and you stumbled upon him at the DX after not seeing him in awhile

reunion was definitely more romantic than platonic, but the only ones who didnt see that were you two

you met him while he was with Sandy, you guys were okay friends, she was a nice girl

you developed a crush on him over time but always pushed it away and helped his relationship

he came to you trying not to cry (he failed) when they officially broke up and how she wasnt ever coming back

you held him in your arms whenever he needed it

it hurt knowing how much he was hurting, it also hurt to know you were there and he wasnt noticing you. but regardless you pushed everything aside for him to be happy

a few months after, he was back to semi-normal

he didnt flirt with girls as often, he was hesitant with interactions but never with you

the gang always saw your obvious crush on him and tried to have push you to talk to him for awhile

they tried convincing you that Soda felt the same but you always doubted it, saying it was just him being friendly

until one day dally was non stop flirting with you and soda couldn’t take it anymore

“C’mon doll, give me a chance.. I won’t do anything you don’t already know me for” Dallas had his arm on the doorway while looking down talking to you.

You were blushing, not because its Dallas, just because of how embarrassing the situation was.

“Dal, you know I don’t see you like that.” You crossed your arms. Dallas places his hand on your hip and tries to bring you closer.

“Let me change your mind baby, I’m sure you’ll like it.” You were about to tell him off before Sodapop pushed Dallas away from you.

“Leave her alone Dal. She doesn’t want your attention.” He stepped infront of you, protecting you from him.

“C’mon man, I was just trying to have some fun.” Dallas murmured curses after he lit a cigarette and walked out the house. “She doesnt need your kind of attention anyways Dal.”

He turned back to you, his expression unreadable. “I’m sorry y/n, I don’t know why I didn’t stop him sooner, I should’ve done something”

“Soda its alright, Its Dallas anyways.” You shyly smiled up at him.

“No you dont get it, I-“ He kept stumbling over his words before he pulled you to an embrace. “I hate seeing guys all over you like that. You don’t deserve that.”

“Sodapop.. I’m okay I swear. There’s not a lot to do-“ Before you could finish he interrupted you.

“I like you Y/n. I hate seeing Dallas all over you because I like you.”

you guys are so gushy with eachother, its disgusting (in a good way)

Darry really likes how kind you are, you always offer to help him make dinner, soda likes sitting at the dining table or just hanging out on a wall in the kitchen and talk to you guys while you cook. (He would burn the house down.)

He loves rambling to you about cars, he knows that you have no clue in what hes talking about but he just likes the fact you actually listen to him

Loves to show off his muscles when he gets to work on a car at the DX while you’re there, purposely does all the work himself instead of him and Steve doing it together

He lets girls gawk over him, but he always talks about you so it gets a bit awkward for them..

“Soda you know you’re really hot right? “Oh Soda look at my new nails!!” “Soda do you think I could get your number?”

“Have guys met my girlfriend Y/n? Shes so pretty… She might as well be a goddess, I love her so much. We had a date the other day and …”

Hes protective over you, but not in the same posessive type of way Dallas is

He knows you love him and trust you, so he won’t do anything unless the other person is SUPPERR into you/gets aggressive

i’m a big believer in the “darry doesn’t want kids in the future” headcanon. like he has already experienced parenting with pony and soda and let's be honest: pony wasn't the easiest kid to deal with. he is done and he only associates parenting with everything he lost to get there, which he doesn't want to be reminded of.

BUT there's something sooo tempting about uncles pony and soda. like they would LOVE having nieces and nephews. they will spoil those kids so bad. and they also want to be able to repay darry for everything he did for them by helping him raise his own kids. darry did so much for them and they know they weren't great so they just want to help him whenever he needs it (and even more)

(i do love the joke that pony would be jealous of having a kid take darry away from him and i think he would be jealous when he first finds out darry is going to be having a kid but the second the kid is actually born and pony gets to hold them, he's like hmm okay i guess i can share darry)

One of the hardest things for Darry being Ponyboy's guardian is when he gets in trouble at school.

Like one time the school called him in because Ponyboy got into a fight at lunch with a soc because the dude said something along the lines of "you greasers are on thin ice" and Ponyboy said "at least I can stand on ice, you fat fuck" and they started swinging.

Poor Darry had to sit in front of the principal and act like that wasn't the funniest fucking thing he's ever heard.

Darry can tell who walked into the house depending on the sound of the door. Every member of the gang has an entrance that can be very easily missed.

Dally slams the door open and doesn't bother to close it behind him.

Steve opens the door and then slams it behind him, then goes to bother whoever is closest.

Johnny is almost always following someone so if the door stays open a bit longer and is quietly shut then Johnny has followed them in.

Two-Bit is similar to Steve except he dusts off his shoes. His mama always gets onto him tracking dirt so it's a habit.

Ponyboy quietly opens the door and shuts it behind him and usually calls out a I'm home. Or he's completely quiet except for the fact he stomps without realizing it.

Sodapop is almost always excited when he gets home so he accidentally slams the door into the wall and apologizes. He also usually announces he's home.

Darry just wishes they would stop slamming the door, it hurts the door and he's not exactly itching to fix the hinges.

The most “boys will be boys” things the gang do

• Steve, Soda, Dally, and Darry stay walking around half naked, ESPECIALLY in the summer. Their shirts are never on. Soda’s jeans are unzipped half the time smh

• as much as they really really try, the Curtis boys are known for leaving their dirty laundry everywhere 😟 no matter how messy they can be though, Two-Bit’s room will always be exponentially worse

• one time Steve and Soda wanted to see who could eat the most chocolate cake so they each ate a whole half of a cake and threw up later

• Johnny do not be washing his clothes 😭😭😭 it’s rly not his fault but Darry will offer to wash up some of his stuff with Ponyboy’s and Johnny will be like “no thank you it’s not that bad 🙂” bros jean jacket probably carries the plague

• they literally don’t stop eating. It’s canon that the Curtis brothers all have big appetites, everyone else is just as bad. Most of their money goes to groceries bc they literally just eat and eat

• Ponyboy tries to lay in bed directly after track practice before showering bc he’s tired and Sodapop is appalled

• so so so many wrestling and football injuries. Pony’s always tripping and falling face first. Steve is a fucking pincher when they’re wrestling so Soda and Two-Bit always have little ass bruises on them from him 💀 during football Johnny is really good at slipping between people bc he can be pretty quick but one time he managed to take Steve down with him and they knocked their heads together

• Dally unfortunately enjoys driving around and yelling obscenities when he has Buck’s car. No one is off limits. He’ll trail behind Johnny and be like “ay what that mouth do” and Johnny just lets out the most defeated sigh

• Ponyboy and Curly were each other’s first kiss “for practice” and didn’t rly think much of it until they realized they’d only been kissing each other even tho they didn’t need practice anymore and never tried to get w anyone else 😭😭😭

• if Two-Bit sees any kind of animal worth catching in his mind like an armadillo or some shit he will indeed try to catch it and bring it to the Curtis house and Darry is just like if you don’t get that damn armadillo off my porch

you drove your white/pink mustang up to a gas pump and you walked into the store looking for (your) favorite candy bar

you ended up having to go to the register since she couldnt find it and might as well pay for her pump

You could’ve sworn they sold [candy bar] here and tried scurrying around the store in all directions before finally giving up. You hesitantly walked up to the register waiting for the guy to turn back around.

Your jaw slightly dropped when he turned. He was stunning.

“Hey pretty lady, do you need help with anything?” He smiled and your heart skipped a beat. His smile was absolutely perfect.

“H-hi.. yea, uh, wow.” You mentally facepalmed at your words escaping your thoughts. Your hand flew quickly to your mouth in embarrassment. He chuckles at your compliment.

“Oh my gosh I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to say that- Uh, I’m looking for [candy bar] and was curious if you guys had it? Also I wanna pay for pump 3.”

“Its alright beautiful. Your lucky, we do have that bar, its my favorite too! Let me get it real quick for ya.”

He walks to the back and you cant help but start fawning over him. You blush and giggle thinking about how nice he was despite being a greaser, he called you pretty and-

He comes back and places the bar on the desk. “Pump 3 you said, right?”

“Yeah, thats right.” You reach into your white mini purse for some cash but he interrupts you.

“Its on me dollface, its not everyday a goregous girl like you walks into my gas station.”

“Wow uhm I- I dont even know what to say, thank you-…?”

“Sodapop. Sodapop Curtis. Have a nice day…?”

“Y/n. Y/n L/n.” You blush and shyly shake his hand.

“I hope I see you around gorgeous.”

He winks at you before walking to the back of the shop again. You stand there shocked, flushed and elated. You just got called gorgeous by him.

When you get home, you find his number written on the back of the bar and you decide to give him a call. 🤭

Sodapop is used to getting alot of attention from girls, i mean he’s literally gorgeous.

But he always makes sure to tell them that he belongs to the most prettiest girl ever.

He won’t immediately tell them to go away if they aren’t actually doing any harm, but he’ll get more assertive if they become touchy

No matter how you see yourself physically, he thinks the WORLD of you

He is head over heels, whenever he loves someone, HE LOVES HARD

You guys took it slow, he explained what happened with Sandy very early on since he didn’t want to get your hopes up

But you were very understanding to him, especially with taking things slow

You guys usually hangout at his house, the DX, or you go with him and Steve (including whatever broad Steve is with) kind’ve like double dates

He would so be the boyfriend who brings a boombox to your window, leave flower petals, light candles, EVERYTHING

You guys are so pda everywhere, the gang always makes jokes about it

Your parents were skeptical when first meeting him since 1. He was a grease and 2. He was a drop-out, but they realized how much of a gentleman he was

They sometimes still get a bit on the fence about ti, but for the most part, they see he isnt just a regular greaser (they’re thinking of Dallas Winston.)
