Tmom has been part of my life for a very long time, and few fan comics have been able to capture my interest as much as it has. (More than likely my angst enjoying ahh speaking there tbh.) But it's genuinely helped me a lot, especially when I was younger.

Tmom was something I could look at and say "yeah, life is shit, and there's very little to find joy in, but hey, these three are managing to to it and they're going through The Horrors too." There's something very weirdly comforting about the themes of loss and grief present in the comic, which are things I find myself grappling onto as someone who has a hard time letting go of people. It's something to look forwards to.

Everything I care about may be gone one day, but there's always going to be new people out there. New bonds and relationships that I may just stumble into completely on accident. It might hurt, and I may never be the same again, but I'll be okay.

I'm infamously not very eloquent when I'm rambling, so I'll stop there. As promised, this was the original piece I drew back in 2017. I remember distinctly sending it to the old Zielo Cave Discord server (back before the "Zielo Cave" name had even been implemented? I think?) It's wild seeing the difference 7 years has made regarding my art.

My heart goes out to Gigi, and I wish them all the best. Thank you for sharing your creation with the world. ❤️

Been rewatching TMOM and I've made a connection. Y'know how in issue 14, Sonic can't walk for almost the entire time and Amy has to carry him? I THINK I KNOW WHY.

Sonic’s feet were greatly injured during his time as a slave for the human government. We've known this for a while. But in Issue 10, Sonic mentions how Silver’s transferring ability is numbing the pain and making it much more bearable and much more easy to walk.

Well, in Issue 13, Shadow and Silver realize they've been cut off from Sonic. Shadow’s transferring ability still works here, but I think that's an exception. The point I'm getting at is since Sonic’s been cut off from his brothers, he's no longer receiving healing from Silver, meaning his feet are probably in immense pain right now, hence why he wasn't walking in almost all of Issue 14.

Farewell, My Friend💔😭

(PSA: Possible spoiler warnings for The Murder of Me by the Zielo Cave. Only a couple panels, but still...)

So, on Monday night, I was at work, and I checked my phone, mostly out of habit. (I don't recommend doing this, btw, it's a good way to get you written up or worse.) And I saw that I had a YouTube notification on my lock screen. So I open my phone and pull down my drop bar to have a look. And literally saw the absolute worst news.

TMOM is over from The Zielo Cave

Now for those of you that don't know: The Murder of Me, AKA TMOM, is a Sonic the Hedgehog fan comic that first debuted I think 15 or so years ago, give or take, and as much as I would love to claim that I've been a fan since the beginning, I only discovered TMOM about a year or so ago. (I have the worst luck when it comes to finding things; I'm always late to the party 🥺)

When I discovered TMOM I was in a terrible rut. I hadn't posted anything in YEARS, and the writing I had done I kept locked away in notebooks, never to see the light of day. I had no inspiration, no motivation to tell stories. It was a horrible place to be. (-10000/10 recommendation.) Then I was scrolling through Pinterest one day, and I saw a panel of this random comic.

You could probably imagine my reaction. It's so random. Then more cropped up:

My thoughts went HAYWIRE. "Why is Sonic fighting his mother? Why's he dressed like that? WHY IS HE DROWNING?? WHY ARE KNUX AND TAILS LETTING HIM DROWN??? WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING???" So I went hunting, and came across The Murder of Me by Gigi-D on DeviantArt.

I was HOOKED. The plot was so well thought out, the characterization was incredibly done, and as you can see, the art itself was BEAUTIFUL. I couldn't get enough. I flat out ignored life and read through 14 issues in one sitting. It took me all day but it was so worth it. AND THEN: I discovered the dubs on YouTube, and found that Gigi-D had decided to put together a creative team to produce the issues of The Murder of Me as episodic dubs, and I fell head over heels. The cast and editing was absolutely phenomenal, and The Murder of Me had my heart, hook, line, and sinker. What was even better was that they turned Issue 15 into an animatic episode.

Episode 15 Part 1: Purpose released on October 30th, 2022, and since then I have been anxiously awaiting the next episode by rewatching the series and all the prequels and bonus episodes I could get my mouse on. I even forced my best friend one night to binge the entire series with me, and she's not nearly as much of a Sonic fan as I am!

TMOM was more than a great watch or story for me. It was inspiration. I had an itch in my fingers that grew from writing a TMOM fanfiction that would stay hidden away into it's own complex project who's rough draft is now in production. (And could very well be released this summer if all goes well.) It was life breathed into my creativity. It was hope. For the first time in a very long time, I wanted to write. To tell a story like Gigi-D and the Zielo Cave.

And then that notification came. It was like a punch in the stomach. I was terrified and without watching it, I reacted and sent it to my best friend, wailing that once again, a story that I loved was being abandoned. That the writers were giving up. I was indignant. Screw that, I was angry and hurt.

Then I watched the video. I listened to Gigi's story, and immediately felt shamed by my own reaction. The Zielo Cave had been saying that Part Two was taking a while because of personal situations, and when Gigi revealed what had happened, that her inspiration was gone and couldn't bring herself to even sketch these characters that she loved so dearly...my heart shattered for her. While I might not really know or understand the pain of her personal situation, I do know what it is to completely lose the passion for your story. For the characters you still love, but can't bring yourself to engage with.

And while my heart of hearts aches, I know Gigi is doing the right thing. No one wants a story that it's writer is dragging their heels to share, can't bring themselves to write. God knows I've tried that, and trust me, it only hurts everyone. The writer, the fans, and the story itself. By ending TMOM here, she's protecting TMOM and its fans, and even though my heart breaks for TMOM's fate and (mostly) for her, I couldn't be more proud of her. The courage and strength it takes to walk away from such a huge part of your life in search of something more, something better?

Not only that, but honor the work and effort her team has given for Part Two and post it anyway, even though it's unfinished? To offer a written conclusion for the series for the fans that want to know what happens? I've never heard of any creator doing that, ever. All that I have seen would NEVER post any unfinished content, or unveil the unwritten plot and ending. And while I'm devastated for what that means, that TMOM is well and truly concluded and Gigi will probably NEVER return, as a fan of this series, I'm so grateful that what happens to these characters won't remain a mystery.

And to repeat what I said in the comment section of the announcement video: I pray a future that is bright and beautiful for you, and you discover what an amazing person you on this journey of healing. You're going to be magnificent because you are already an incredible person, Gigi. I can't express how important TMOM has been for me, how inspiring the story has been when I was down and unable to pursue my own creativity in my writing, and I just want to thank you for the years of dedication, passion, and love you and your team have given us through The Murder of Me. I bless all the paths you walk from this day forward, and all my love and support for you goes with you on your journeys for all the rest of your days.

The Murder of Me is over. I will always be a TMOM fan, and I will always love Gigi-D and the Zielo Cave for giving me inspiration, passion, and hope for my writing again. It's because of TMOM that The Three Sovereigns even made it to development and is now currently being written with the hope of release this summer, and The Three Sovereigns will always be a tribute to The Murder of Me and the hope this story has given me.

A bad time

Summary: Zielo did in fact, listen to undertale. He was in fact having a bad time, and Celios is trying their best to calm their youngest brother.

(hi tmom. I missed you and your chaotic neutral gods, but today the He/She mess and the non-binary bitch are suffering. Sorry if you don't know the au or what this is talking about🫠)

The air in the safe room hummed with a low, comforting aura, a symphony of soft clicks and whispers that only those who had spent centuries within its walls could truly hear. The room itself was a space that shifted and rearranged itself to remain unseen by mortal eyes, a safe space built by the family long ago. Today, however, the soothing room did little to calm the pure fear clashing within Zielo.

Celios, their usually bright purplish-pink eyes clouded with concern, paced the length of the room, their black and red hair a chaotic mess on their head. Their tail twitched nervously, hitting the plush, moss-like carpeting that always felt soft beneath their feet. They��d been trying to get a word in with Zielo for the last hour, but each attempt had been met with higher distress, their younger brother’s breathing ragged and gasply.

Zielo had been pacing too, a frantic back-and-forth, a grey blur against the calmer colors of the room. His usually sharp, diamond-blue eyes were wide and unfocused, darting around as if expecting an attack. His hands trembled, claws extending and his tails wrapped tightly around one of her leg, the image of perfect control shattered. The carefully crafted “dark god” facade, the one he maintained for mortals and followers alike, was nowhere to be seen. In its place? Raw vulnerability.

This wasn't the first time Zielo had broken down. The cause wasn't always the same. But today, the past voices of their eldest brother, Heephis, still lingered, a whisper neither of them could quite shake off. The years of harm, the fall, had carved deep in their psyche. Although Heephis had gotten SO much better now, the damage he caused couldn't be undone. Celios’s mind made it difficult to stay still, especially in the face of such intense emotion. But they couldn't leave their youngest brother alone. Not now.

“Zielo,” Celios began, their voice soft, “My cloud, please, can you look at me?”

Zielo flinched as if hurt, his breath hitching. "They’re…. they’re here. They’re watching me, I-I can feel them. They're-......" He trailed off, his voice a strained whisper, his hand flying up to cover his mouth as if to stifle a scream. Gods above, what was the poor being even seeing?

Celios moved closer, their paw-like feet making soft sounds on the carpet, and reached out a hand. “No one is here but us, Zielo.” They tried to reassure him, but that only seemed to make things worse.

Zielo recoiled from Celios's touch, his pupils dilating, and his voice a hiss of pure fear. "STOP." She lashed out, a wild swipe of his claws that would have been harmful, even deadly, if not for his lack of accuracy in his panicked state. The claws just barely grazed Celios’s arm, leaving a shallow, painless scratch.

It was bitter reminder of the raw power the gods held, even in a broken state, a power she usually kept hidden beneath layers of meticulously crafted control. Celios retracted their hand, their own heart pounding in their chest. They didn't wince, didn’t move away, just backed away.

“Okay, okay, I won’t touch,” they said, their voice still soft, though their tone was now laced with a new kind of worry. “But I’m also not going anywhere.” They lowered themself to the floor, sitting on their knees, keeping a respectful distance while also remaining close. They didn't speak, just watched, trying to project an aura of calm.

Zielo continued her agitated pacing, his frantic energy filling the room like a live wire. She muttered to himself, fragmented sentences tumbling out, a chaotic jumble of fear and paranoia. The carefully constructed "perfect" persona was completely gone. The god of control was, Ironically, out of control.

Celios knew that words weren't working. They’d tried logic, they’d tried reassurance, they’d even tried a bit of gentle distraction, anything to break through the wall of distress. Nothing had even dented it. After a few moments of quiet observation, they decided on a different approach. They just needed to be there, a quiet, solid presence in the swirling chaos of Zielo’s mind.

Taking a deep breath, Celios moved slowly. Carefully closing the remaining gap between them. They lowered their head, trying to make themselves seem smaller, their warm fur a stark contrast to the cold tremor that racked the younger one's body. “I’m here,” they murmured, the sound barely audible, “We’re here. It’s okay.”

Zielo froze momentarily, then let out a soft sound, a sound that was almost a sob. She stopped pacing, his body still trembling, and glanced down at Celios, his eyes a mess of raw emotion. She knelt slowly, slowly shifting so he was sitting on the ground next to her older sibling.

Celios gently wrapped their tail around Zielo’s waist, pulling him closer as they both tried to calm down. They kept their movements slow, allowing Zielo the space to run if he needed it. She didn't. Instead, he leaned into them, his shoulders shaking with silent tears.

His breathing was still shaking, and his body was still tense, but the frantic energy had begun to disappear, replaced by a deep exhaustion. Celios wrapped their arms around his form, holding him close, their fur a warm and comforting blanket around his trembling body.

They didn’t speak, didn’t offer empty advice, just held the youngest god. Celios knew there were no easy answers, no magic words that would erase the years of pain and trauma. All they could offer was their presence, their unwavering love, and the simple comfort of being held.

The sun began to set. The two brothers stayed together, curled up on the moss-colored carpet together. They were safe.
