forever and always bitter about how anduin got magically cured from his arthasfication in shadowlands ... i mean yeah the mental issues & trauma are there (somehow...shoutout to tww) but i mean physically!!
what if he lost his heartbeat and it didn't come back after his boss fight. no matter what he does his pulse isn't there, he doesn't know how he's standing and that's scary. what is he now? is he alive? is he dead? will he age? or will he rot on his own two feet like a forsaken? if that's the case, how much time does he have left? is he a ticking time bomb or will he be here long after his other shorter-life-span friends & adopted family die (assuming he even manages to make it that far)
granted, his mawsworn design in shadowlands was more a visual shorthand to the players that he was Evil Now than anything, he was just as alive as before, just possessed. he could seemingly be swapped between his original looking self and mawsworn self in the kyrestria cutscene? but i digress, the pale skin & hair? the blank eyes? Surely something had to have gone wrong with the amount of time he was stuck like that

Eldritch!Reder @ Tarhos me thinks
Tumblr media
Even the bravest knight needs a kiss or two... or a million
Your realm was barren, with only the essentials; after all, you had never brought anyone here to stay before. The castle in the center was something you had stolen in hopes of making Tarhos happy. your shadow-like body cradling the four men as you burst through the door. You had been starved of their companionship for too long. It was driving you mad. They felt off as you carried them up the spire staircase to a room decorated in silks and goose-feather bedding. Setting them down you quickly reform yourself settling into your smaller more human-like form. shadow still painting your hands and feet as you climb atop your knight. tendrils wrapping around his armor, the desperation to feel him building in your chest.
"Tarhos," You whisper his name, your hand reaching out to cupping his helmet, your forehead pressed against the cold metal. "I missed you." the sound was barely audible, but he understood hands settling on your hips, "You may remove it, my dear." his voice sounded so tired. without hesitation, you remove the heavy object from his head revealing his face. eyes deep-set and tired bruises along his face that painfully reminded you just how human he was and it hurt to see. Did your sister even grant him a moment of rest?
you closed your eyes taking a deep breath. "My dearest knight may I remove it all?" you ask wishing to see the extent of punishment he had endured. The other three seemingly sleeping already exhausted. he nods letting your tendrils pull and unhook every piece. the armor gingerly placed in some remote corner. chainmail and even cloth removed from his body as you leave him bare. the warmth of your skin against his was a great comfort. A soft smile lit his face as he felt you push him down though he put up no fight. a moan escaping him feeling your lips against his skin wandering shadows tracing his body as if you wanted to take away all the exhaustion and pain. "I missed you," you repeat against his skin breathing him in deeply. Realizing at this moment that there might be something more to this than a follower worshiping his god.

tdp jailer cosplay part 3 of 3 - bracers, shirt, and finished
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
drafting/prototype - used up the last of my white eva foam from my monkie kid dragon sword project. glad that i made a practice one first; too many fiddly cuts in the first version. simplified the design and swapped to black eva for the final
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i got a heat gun and ohhh i noticed right away how much easier it made shaping the foam (vs my hair dryer, lol). being able to heat-seal the foam properly also reduced how many coats of plasti dip and paint were needed to finish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
painted the bit with brass leafing paint and added velcro between the overlap to make them removable.
shirt and accessories: not much exciting to add here:
for the shirt, i altered two large t-shirts (two so i'd have enough fabric; a cost-saving but not a time-saving shortcut) - added a standing collar, an invisible zipper down the front, darts on the back, and the crennelated motif to the bottom edge.
and two belts, because they're essential xadian fashion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this was my hobby part-time-job life fun little project that consumed me for the past three months....how many hours actually? hahaha i'd tell you but then i'd have to trap you in a magical prison for three hundred years

Thinking about the Jailer a while back and finally sat down to do the research that would let me articulate what exactly is going on with her design:
Tumblr media
My brain initially glazed over the pattern at the edge of her cowl (and also on the lower edges of her coat, as we see in the other art) as standard gear or crenelation pattern that had parts frayed or worn down. In my defense, I think I was primarily thrown by the inclusion of the visible stitches on the cowl, which add a "worn out" appearance.
Interestingly, while I had thought there were more instances of crenelation motifs present in Harrow, Callum, and Ezran's designs, it actually only appears in the trim on Sarai's skirt:
Tumblr media
Anyway, after looking more closely at the Jailer over time, I realized that... that's not accurate. The TDP artists aren't that lazy—those designs are geometric and uneven for a reason. Here's the reason:
Tumblr media
It's a motif of (and here's where I had to do research) the bit of a warded key.
I found a really great post about faux-medieval locks and lockpicking vs. actual medieval locks and lockpicking (i.e. what's in ever Elder Scrolls game ever), but a quick summary: a ward or warded lock is a lock that is designed to allow only a specifically-patterned key to turn in the lock to open it. This is similar but subtly different from lever locks, which are still used in modern applications: lever locks use the pattern cut into the bit of the key to shift a series of levers into place that otherwise prevent the bolt from moving, similar to how pin tumbler locks raise a series of pins into alignment. Warded locks, on the other hand, don't actually have anything that prevents the bolt itself from being moved, but instead have a pattern of physical barriers inside the lock that prevent the key itself from being turned unless the pattern on the bit matches up with them. So you sometimes got stuff like this:
Tumblr media
Anyway, most of the antique keys you see are probably for lever locks, since those were invented in 1778, are significantly more secure, and generally look a lot simpler in their bit shape.
The problem with the warded lock as a concept is that if you can get to the part that moves the bolt, there's nothing at all to stop you from moving it. Enter the skeleton key—which, contrary to popular belief, is not just any old-looking key. A skeleton key is capable of opening more than one lock, usually a warded lock, by essentially bypassing the wards. For example, the skeleton key on the right here would be able to open the warded locks for both keys on the left:
Tumblr media
Something like this seems to be a pretty common skeleton key set for some kinds of modern padlocks:

so we know the Jailer was a human mage, but we don't know whether she practiced dark magic, primal magic, or both huh?
