Ten Reasons Why You Need the Catholic Church:
I am seeking inquiring into the Catholic Church because it serves as a beacon of spiritual guidance, moral foundations, and communal support for individuals seeking meaning and purpose.
The Enduring Relevance of the Catholic Church In an era marked by rapid societal changes and diverse spiritual paths, why one needs the Catholic Church may resonate deeply with those seeking a sense of purpose, moral guidance, and spiritual community. The Catholic Church, with its rich history, goes back to the time of Christ. Apostolic sacramental practices and teachings have been deeply…

Sorry I thought about Jesus reuniting with His father Joseph when He died and it broke me a little.
#tower of babble#christianity#catholic#saint joseph#st joseph#I can’t remember if it’s catechism or tradition that Jesus spent the three days afte the crucifixion personally ministering to the souls#of the just who died before he opened the gates to heaven#but the mental image of Jesus meeting Joseph who died before his son worked miracles…#all of Joseph’s hopes validated all of his fears realized that his son was really The Son and that his boy who he raised a carpenter#died on a cross for all… I am emotional.

I understand everything you are saying! I do wonder, though—in an entirely curious manner—how you believe that the church "decided" (God was the one who truly decided, as you have pointed out) what to canonize? Obviously God did not physically stretch out his hand and point to them (though he is Biblically capable of doing this, he did not in this circumstance) but rather revealed it to them. I believe that in the same way he revealed the traditions, and that if we cannot trust what he has revealed to the church, how can we trust that we have the complete holy scriptures?
Also, if you do not mind my asking—again, this is meant in an entirely curious tone, I don't want to seem confrontational or anything—if you do not believe in divine inspiration in early Christians, how do you suppose the scriptures, which are the holy word of God, were written? They were written by man and yet are the voice of God himself. How does this happen, if not through divine inspiration?
As for the sufficiency of Christ's work on the cross, I do believe it is wholly sufficient and that this is made clear not only in Biblical texts but in the tradition of the church, but it is mentioned many times in scripture—including in Paul's letters to which you refer—that we are not automatically saved from sins which we have not repented. Hell is a real where real people go, which I am going to assume you believe since you appear to rely faithfully upon the word of God. People get there by not repenting of their sins. Christ's death on the cross is more than sufficient! But what good is a gift if we do not accept it? Scripture says that it is no good at all. The way I see it, it's kind of disrespectful of us to see Jesus die for our sins and respond with, "that's cool. I'm going to keep sinning." (Not what I’m assuming you’re doing of course!) Boy, did Paul have something to say about that. (I’ll trust you know to what I refer-you appear to be theologically well-versed.)
So if we die, but we are unaware of some of our sins or believe some of them not to be sins, and yet are in a state of grace with God, God doesn't want to send us to hell on pure human error when we truly sought a relationship with Him, but we aren't ready for heaven with sin on our souls and deep-seated incorrect beliefs about Him.
That's where purgatory comes in. It's a place for the souls upon which small sins still reside, sins we must still be cleansed of to be ready to face God and go to heaven. The reason these souls can be cleansed is because of Christ's death on the cross! Jesus died for our sins, but it is not an immediate, cover-all, now you can just go on sinning sort of gift. It requires acceptance, and I believe we all sometimes find ourselves in situations where we just can't, because we live in a world that has taught us that this particular thing is not a sin, and we twist scrip make that seem true to us. Catholics believe that God forgives this error through purgatory.
In terms of the Church adding to God's word, they did not! Let's be clear, you will never hear a true and theologically trained Catholic refer to the Catechism with the same reverence with which they refer to the holy scriptures. Of course, then we are back to my original questions: if you do not accept the divine inspiration of the early church, how did God's word come to be written and how do we know which texts were inspired by God? I believe you are also working under the assumption that the Catechism was a human interpretation of what the church ought to believe rather than revealed by God. I am inclined to believe that the same early church I trust chose the canon texts based on what was revealed by God also wrote traditions based on what was revealed by God.
In terms of saving souls, of course, since understanding God fully as humans is futile and deep theological matters ultimately do not matter as much as God's core message, we will both be ultimately fine. My belief is that we'll both go to purgatory and have any remaining sins or incorrect thoughts purged there, and your belief is that we won't need that because we are both saved by Christ.
Thank you so much for having this friendly dialogue with me! I am very interested in hearing your responses to my questions. I know what my responses would have been four months ago, do not speak for every Protestant in the world! On a more social note, is there a particular denomination you align with? Also, are you theologically trained?
You seem to know scripture well and have a good ability to articulate your thoughts.
Have a blessed evening! :)
Me Finding Out Protestants Outright Believe Praying for the Souls of the Departed is a Sin:
THIS WHY YOU GUYS GOT SO MANY GHOSTS
Y’all never thought that praying for people who have passed could be a good thing???? You think that’s a bad thing??? Bruh Purgatory fucking SUCKS and y’all just leaving people there with no epic anime friendship speech??? You leaving them there on their own????

if a teacher at a Catholic school is a poor role model of the moral life in a public way, they should be fired, simple as. if a teacher at a Catholic school cannot accurately describe and vocally affirm the teachings of the Catholic Church when asked, they should be fired, simple as. if a teacher at a Catholic school is known publically to be a non-practicing Catholic, they should be fired, simple as. Close schools if there aren't enough staff. I don't care. I'm sick of our Catholic schools disobeying the Bishop, the Church at large and pushing relativistic nonsense onto students as Catholicism.
#TAKE AWAY OUR PUBLIC FUNDING IT IS THE WORST THING TO HAVE HAPPENED TO OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS#we are public schools with crucifixes on the walls#the teachers are ministers of the faith and the Church has the right to select her ministers#literally it would be better to only have one Catholic school in the whole county that is upright and Orthodox than the entire school board#that we have now#if you want to teach at a Catholic school THAT badly be well catechized vocally support the Church and keep your disagreements and or#deviations private

Transformative tales: The role of story videos on children's reasoning about transgender identities
Abstract
The current study explored whether positive contact through stories could influence how young children think about transgender identities and gender in general. A total of 174 children ages 56 and 9–10 were randomly assigned to one of three conditions: Jazz (participants watched a video regarding a transgender child named Jazz), Blue (participants watched a video regarding a marker that looked red on the outside but inside was really blue) and control (no video). Both videos described the main character as feeling different inside than outside, and their social transition to their preferred identity; researcher scaffolding supported the video messages. Children who viewed the Jazz video had: (a) greater understanding of transgender identities and (b) no overall differences in gender essentialism, but (c) lower gender essentialism on three specific measures (gender immutability, innate toy behaviours and innate preferences). Also, gender essentialism was lower in older versus younger children. In this study, a direct, realistic story was the only effective means of teaching children about transgender identities and reducing belief in gender immutability. Thus, stories can be a way to teach children about the social world and change essentialist beliefs, but the impact may be limited and greatly affected by features of the story.
Catechism, a manual of religious instruction usually arranged in the form of questions and answers used to instruct the young, to win converts, and to testify to the faith.
==
If "gender" is not "immutable," why are we irreversibly medicalizing kids?
There are still some who insist this literally isn't happening and it's some QAnon-style paranoid conspiracy. Even though activists masquerading as "researchers" and "academics" are proudly and enthusiastically bragging about what they're doing.
Of course, when it becomes undeniable, the pivot comes swiftly: "It's good actually. It's just about teaching kids to be kind. Only bigots would oppose it."
You shouldn't be any more comfortable with indoctrinating kids with genderist faith - on the basis of teaching kids to be "kind" - than you are with indoctrinating kids with Xian faith - on the basis of teaching kids to be "good."

Maybe I am just severely not normally educated but why in all my born days have I never heard the “sons of God/daughters of men/Nephilim” explained as well we just had this genealogy abput Cain and his corrupt line and then the one of Seth that starts a man in Adam’s image like he was in God’s image so probably that’s sons of God vs daughters of men
#i always heard the angels explanation which on an. biological level? or something? makes no sense but in a broader cultural/mythical sense#i kinda like for the explanation of All The Other Stories about mighty men coming from gods and men#as in no this is how it worked#but this one (the lines) actually makes sense with the text so like#i finished catechism in a year so I figured I’d give Bible in a year a shot next
