Found this in a 2011 interview and my mind flashed back to these posts.

Kodaka and Komatsuzaki actually have some buyer's remorse on making Byakuya the "rival" character because he didn't pan out the way he was supposed to. Both Kodaka's writing and Ishida's voice acting ended up working against the character, making him more Smug Snake than Magnificent Bastard. Kodaka even mentions in an art book description for Nagito that he feels DR1 lacked a "threatening rival character" which is the reason Nagito was created.

And so now I wonder if Kodaka even realizes that his unconscious sexism is part of the problem, since he seemed convinced that because Makoto is male then the rival character needed to be as well...when as I already made note of, Celeste is way more fitting for that role given that she shares way more in common with Makoto and Kyoko (the alleged deuteragonist but honestly the real protagonist, just like Sherlock Holmes is even when Watson is the POV character of his stories). To be clear, Celeste wouldn't have been a threatening rival either, but she'd be skilled enough to fake it, which would make the ultimate reveal of her true mundane nature more effective once her inevitable breakdown occurs.

Like I also noted in those previous posts, Celeste as the rival would require some changes to the story - Toko would have to be done with Byakuya after he betrays her by outing her mental condition so that his death would not negatively affect her, the third case would have to be changed to Byakuya killing Hifumi and framing Taka plus killing Hiro as a means of making the mystery complicated enough to fool Makoto (whom he specifically targets due to what happened in the previous case), and the fourth chapter would have to be the stage show's version where Sakura ingests poison before being revealed as the Mastermind's spy and Celeste tries to potentially kill her as she's dying in order to create a high-stakes gamble.

I'm torn between whether the outcome should be Sakura being the Blackened meaning that Celeste lives and has to endure unwanted character development, or Celeste being the Blackened so that she gets executed. Because on the one hand, I love Celeste and would be all for her surviving and developing, plus it keeps the strong sacrificial nature of Sakura's death in tact. But on the other hand, LOL firetruck go vrrroooom; it's such a good execution.

I guess I lean toward the former due to DR2. Oh, and the Ultimate Imposter in DR2 would have to be disguised as Taka instead, which honestly would make the truth more difficult to guess, since taking charge and bearing the duty of protecting others makes sense for Taka whereas it always felt off for Byakuya and thus a big hint that this was really an imposter.

Somebody, make this rewrite happen!

This is such a small thing to focus on in the midst of everything else that happened, but I was OBSESSED with the quick, one-second reactions everyone in this episode had to discovering someone else's identity.

Nathalie dropping the fact that she used the peacock miraculous to Ladybug, and Ladybug's expression when it cut back to her. The horror in her face where you can tell she's thinking "oh my gosh, this was Mayura." Marinette quickly saying to Plagg that this is where Monarch lives while they're in Adrien's house, and Plagg's subsequent "WHAT?!" Monarch pulling whom he knew to be an untransformed Ladybug out of the cupboard, and the utter shock in his voice when he said "Marinette Dupain-Cheng?!" I am obsessed.

Yeah, all this other crazy stuff is happening, and maybe it's not the direction a lot of us thought the story would take (I certainly have my feelings about what it took to get to this point but admittedly I thought the execution of this episode was pretty epic) but these little identity reveals are the CORE of this show, the idea of them was what got me so hooked on it back when I first started watching, and it is SO COOL AND SATISFYING seeing some of them happening on screen.

My friend is having a confirmation in early Feb, I’ll be out of town but i wanted to get her a gift! I’m not involved with any kind of church, especially not Catholic ones so I have zero clue where to start.

When I search confirmation gifts, lots of jewelry comes up but I think she’ll be getting a lot of that? I don’t think a Bible or rosary is appropriate either, but I don’t have enough context for what else to get?? I know her mainly through ballet but I’d rather get her something personal/special to her event.

It's funny that even with official sources in Japan, the famous confusion about who/what Yami Bakura is persisted even among Japanese fans since the sources describe it differently.

So here's a chart for the manga and anime respectively that makes things simple:

In the manga, Thief King Bakura's soul is absorbed into the Millennium Ring because he merged with its evil power, taking it into himself and his spirit, meaning that upon his death it took all of that back. Then Zorc, whose physical avatar is Akhenaden, sealed part of his soul into the Ring where it possessed Bakura's soul (since part of Bakura's soul was already merged into Akhenaden's). Ryou Bakura is possessed by a soul that is itself possessed.

In the anime, a part of Zorc's soul existed in the Millennium Ring since its creation. What happened here was that Thief King Bakura, not Akhenaden, became Zorc's physical avatar, and in a way more literal way: his body and soul turned into Zorc's through ritual sacrifice.

Either way, Yami Bakura was Thief King Bakura before he ended up in the Millennium Ring; once he was in there, he was now a part of Zorc working in the service of his greater self. This is key to note: he is lesser than the full Zorc. That's why he was bowing and speaking politely to High Priest Zorc (manga) or getting tossed around by Zorc's spirit hand (anime).
