Oregon Trail Challenge
To begin with, randomize 8 families. One of these households will be the Leader and will pick one of the options below. You may choose to play all the households in rotation or play solely the Leader and install Story Progression to have the other households move forward.
It is advised that you install CC such as wagons, oxen, horses, etc. but not required. You can go full Mad Max if you want to - you do you!
It is advised to set up identical lots, place families, and then set family funds. There are no rules regarding the beginning lot.
Select a career for the Leader
Banker
Start off with $5,000 simoleons.
Carpenter
Start off with (3) wood planks, (3) nails, and all sims in household have 4 logic skill points.
Start off with $1,000 simoleons.
Farmer
Start off with extra fridge.
Once a career is selected sims can purchase supplies at Matt's General Store - oxen to pull the wagon, food, clothing, ammunition, and spare wagon parts.
Start off with $800 simoleons.
THE CHALLENGE
The challenge will take 16 sim days to complete. Due to delay mechanic, these will be referred to as tiles. Sims have 20 days to reach the end of the trail before winter sets in.
There are several landmarks such as a river crossing or a fort. Each landmark has different choices available to the player, such as purchasing supplies at a fort, talking to fellow travelers at a geographic landmark, or choosing how to cross a river.
Rivers can be crossed by fording the river, caulking the wagon and floating across, or in some cases by paying for a ferry; the chance of crossing without failure, which can result in losing supplies or damaging the wagon, depends on the state of the river and the weather.
As the party progresses further along the trail, the prices for supplies rise. At two landmarks, the player can choose to take a "cut-off", or shortcut; these paths are shorter but bypass the next landmark, a fort.
Sims have 20 days to reach the end of the trail before winter sets in. Once winter sets in, Winter Handicap applies.
Roll d6 every day to determine if a random event occurs. An odd roll means an event occurs - roll for event.
Sims may hunt any day on the trail, however hunting delays by 1 day.

RIVER CROSSING

Costs $100 simoleons per wagon.
LANDMARK
Sims have an option to visit the landmark and talk to other travelers. Max motives to be used on all sims within the wagon train. Visiting landmark does delay by 1 day.
WINTER HANDICAP
If the wagon trail hasn't completed all 16 tiles after 20 days they will be handicapped.
Change all seasons to winter.
RoS to be rolled for all households every day.
If it snows in game, delayed an additional day.
HUNTING
If the player chooses to hunt they should go to community lot set up with Sun & Moon hunting objects. Must use ammunition (use whatever you'd like to represent this - for example, I used a deco rifle as an example for a day's worth of bullets) and remain on lot for 24 hours. Will delay wagon train by 1 day.
OTHER PENALTIES
There is a penalty for losing all livestock - it will take 2 days to complete 1 tile.
RANDOM OCCURRENCE SCENARIOS
Roll d6: D1/D4 Injury/Sickness, D2/D5 Event, D3/D6 Delay. Optional: roll D6 again for delay - odd the delay stands, even can disregard.
Injury/Sickness (d12)
1 Buffalo Stampede
Every sim has to roll a d6 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die. Drop energy of all impacted sims to 25%. -Having a body skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules survival roll.
2 Hypothermia/Frostbite Every sim has to roll a d10 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die. Change sim temp to freezing. -Having a body skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules survival roll.
3 Heatstroke Every sim has to roll a d10 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die. Change sim temp to heatstroke. -Having a body skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules survival roll.
4 Accidental Gunshot Roll to determine which sim was shot. Roll a d6 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die. Roll d6 every day for the next 5 days to determine if infection sets in. -Having a body skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules survival roll.
5 Animal Bite Roll to determine which sim was bit. Roll a d10 to determine extent of injuries. (1 extreme to 10 mild) Rolling a 1 means the sim has rabies. Roll d6 every day for the next 5 days to determine if infection sets in.
6 Mild Sickness (Cold, Flu) Roll to determine which sim is impacted, give them a cold via game mechanics.
7 Burned by Campfire Roll to determine which sim was burned. Roll d6 every day for the next 2 days to determine if infection sets in.
8 Broken bone (arm, foot, hand, hip, or leg) Roll to determine which sim was injured. Roll d6 every day for the next 2 days to determine if infection sets in. Impacted sim must rest in bed for the duration. Optional: use CC cast to indicate injury.
9 Serious Sickness (Cholera, Consumption, Diphtheria, Dysentery, Grippe, Malaria, Measles, Pneumonia, Scarlet Fever, Scurvy, Smallpox, Typhoid Fever, Water Poisoning) Roll to determine which sim is impacted, give them a pneumonia via game mechanics.
10 Food Poisoning Roll to determine which sims are impacted. Roll a d6 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die.- Having an interest level of 4 or higher in Health automatically overrules survival roll.
11 Snakebite Roll to determine which sim was bitten. Roll a d6 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die. Roll d6 for the next 1 day to determine if infection sets in. -Having a body skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules survival roll.
12 Poison Ivy Roll to determine which sim is impacted, give them poison ivy via game mechanics.
-----INFECTION Infection sets in if a 1 is rolled. There are three levels of infection. If I sim rolls for an infection and reaches level 2, they must roll and go back down to 1 before getting better.
Level 1 - mild, fever/chills. Give sim cold via game mechanics.
Level 2 - more severe, all motives to drop by 50%.
Level 3 - death.
Event (d10)
1 Prairie fire Every sim has to roll a d6 for survival. Rolling a 1 means the sim will die. -Having a body skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules survival roll.
2 Strangers Approach Roll a d6 to determine if this is a positive (odd) or negative (even) event. -Having a charisma skill level of 4 or higher automatically overrules negative roll.
Positive - roll to see what the party gains. 1 $100 in Simoleons 2 Wagon 3 Oxen 4 Food 5 Clothing 6 Equipment
Negative - roll to see what the strangers take from the party. 1 $100 in Simoleons 2 Wagon 3 Oxen 4 Food 5 Clothing 6 Equipment
3 Abandoned Wagons Roll d6 to determine which abandoned wagon they find. ***You may other create 6 abandoned wagon lots or randomize from buy mode what is found.
4 Missing Person or Livestock Roll to determine which sim or animal is missing. Can choose to delay travel and roll to look or to move on. If delay is chosen, roll a d6 to determine if sim/animal is found - rolling a 6 means the search is successful. -Having a logic skill level of 4 or higher increases chance of finding lost sim/animal by +2.
5 Theft Roll to see which sim gains thief trait. They must attempt to swipe an item every day they are on the trail.
6 Wild Fruits/Vegetables Gain d6 amount of food.
7 Death of Livestock Roll to determine which livestock die.
8 Drowning (almost) Roll to determine which sim is impacted. Drop energy to 25%.
9 Spoiled Food All meat has spoiled and must be removed from inventory.
10 Found Fresh Water Roll d10 to determine how many buckets to put in inventory.
Delays (d6)
1 Severe Weather (thunderstorm, fog, duststorm, hailstorm, etc.) Roll d4 to determine how many days the wagon train is delayed.
2 Quicksand Ahead Roll d4 to determine how many days the wagon train is delayed.
3 Obstructed Path (fallen rocks and boulders) Roll d4 to determine how many days the wagon train is delayed.
4 Livestock is injured. Can choose to delay or to put animal down.
5 Animals Exhausted Delayed 1 day.
6 Wagon accident (Tipped Wagon, wagon caught on fire, broken parts, Wagon stuck in mud or deep sand, etc.) Delayed 1 day. Must use wagon parts to repair or wagon must be abandoned. -Having a mechanical skill level of 4 or higher always wagon to be repaired without parts.

Aaah, Anon! I'm so sorry it took me forever to answer this, because it was so sweet and it's such a good ask and I wanted to give it a great answer and I forgot.
Short answer: all my mutuals' sims are adorable and I love them.
Long answer: So I literally kidnapped @pixeldolly's Fiona Merridew, and I'm obsessed with my deep-rooted horror of Larkin. I love @eulaliasims Gaius and Chiana and Theo, and Syx and Kaiden (beautiful tropical birb) and Carlos (perfect hair). @episims Hanna is one of my favorite sims of all time (I like robots) and Jonas has grown on me such slowly and so much (appropriate for a plant sim.) I would fight God herself for @dunne-ias's take on Nina Caliente if God and I weren't pals. I love how @nappe-plays-the-sims writes Candy Hart, and Lana's whole arc. (And Cyan Weiss). @vixsims's Brandi and Dina. @beikonsims's super cute roboticist, Arin Capp. Every weirdo in @mynameisquoi's game except Jack. Current Summary
In the traditional Goth home live sisters Dina and Nina Caliente. They were hired by Mortimer Goth as live in staff but they were only in the house a single night before Bella Goth disappeared. The next day Mortimer was killed by a rogue asteroid.
At his burial Dina revealed to his family that Mortimer had signed a contract giving her and her sister control of the Goth fortune. With time she also revealed that she had concieved twins with Mortimer, who she has named Eve and *scoffs* Mortimer.

Yes! But, I want to make sure to recognize who "created" these fantastic 2t4 premade sims and their homes before I started playing them. Thank you, @anotherplumbob for such a fun and thoughtful save file. Okay, now, my favorite sims created by me? I've picked my five favorite storylines that I'm excited about in my game
Malcolm Landgraab IV and Nina Caliente: I am LIVING for the MALINA ship. Was I planning on these two becoming a whole ass beautiful thing? No. No, I did not. I am now the #1 fan of this ship? Yes.
Briella Lothario and Ezra Goth: ugh there's just so much story and drama to unfold with these two! I'm excited to incorporate more of RoM in my game- as I have never really played much with the occults before! The Goth family I think lore wise does have some magical ancestry in their bloodline, and if they don't then they do now ^.^
Angela Pleasant and Lilith Pleasant: If y'all don't know this is the current household rotation I'm on, and I'm really invested in seeing if the twins can mend their past and build a strong relationship with each other!
Lucy Burb and Beau Broke: Listen...these two... are sooo freaking precious to me and they are the best of bud. And I'm really really REALLY curious what their relationship is going to look like as they move into middle school... cause...middle school x.x
Axel Caliente: The unknown love child between Don Lothario and Nina Caliente. Nina rolled a want to have a child with Don- and then was miserable, because she also didn't want to be pregnant, and she was terrified of what would happen if the truth came out about who was the father. So she made the decision to never tell Don. And Axel was adopted by a loving family. I do have some plans for Axel so stick around ;)

Pancakes Family Rotation 4:
Everyone was off at work, leaving Giselle Pancakes at home alone. She remembered her BFF that she met randomly at a pool one day, and invited her over. Turns out her friend, Beth, is a teen now! They still had a great time catching up and goofing off.
Giselle's other friend, Amina Caliente, came by too. All 3 of them chatted, and Giselle maxed out her social level!

PleasentVille - Rotation 1 - Caliente
(Side note - One of them brought a cat while I was playing with different families so uh... they have a cat called Ocelot)
Day 1
Dina heads off to her first day at her new hair/beauty salon (build by springsims)
While she tries her best, her first day of her business dosent go to well. Perhaps she needs to hire more staff.
Meanwhile, Nina manages to find a job in the music career, she now works as a Record Store Clerk
After making something to eat, Nina decides to start practicing on the Piano.
Day 2
Today is Nina's first day on the job!
And with hireing more staff, today goes a little smoother for Dina.
And Nina already earned herself a promotion at work! She's now a Piano Tuner!
Mortimer decides to visit Dina after shes done with work, Dina cooks for her and Mortimer before settling down for the night.
Day 3
Nina was almost late for work this morning, luckly she just about made it
Even Dina was giving out some makeovers today, including one Romeo Monty.
Nina earns herself another promotion at work! Shes now a Coffee Shop Sound Engineer.
To celebrate her new promotion, Nina asks Don out on a date.
Day 4
So it turns out Dina is pregnant with Mortimers child.
Before work, Nina decides to fix up a bit of this old car she found.
Nina earns yet another promotion to Summer Camp Music Teacher.
She works a bit more on the car after work.

How I play Sims 2 rotationally with spreadsheets
This is going to be a post that shows off how I play The Sims 2 rotationally and track my Sims with spreadsheets.
I do rotational gameplay, and yes, the YouTuber Pleasant Sims inspired me to play like this. If you want to learn more about rotational gameplay, or how I play my game, then I suggest that you watch this video by Pleasant Sims, because it's what inspired me to play this way because I liked the sound of it.
In short, rotational gameplay is when you play multiple families in the same town, in an order, for the same amount of time. So you play 3 days in one family, then play three days in a different family, etc. etc.
In my opinion, The Sims 2 is best for this type of gameplay, because when you leave a household, time freezes for that household and you can get caught up in another house. The same amount of time in game passes from when you start the "rotation" (I prefer to call them "rounds" though) as to when you end it.
Census
I use a Google Slides spreadsheet to keep what I call my "Census" of Pleasantview, and I do "bookkeeping" of the data of my town in general. Such as, tracking which year it is in the household, when Sims are born, their names and previous names. I usually keep it on my second screen and update it each day at midnight. See below.
On this Census, I track what year it is in the household, which round the household is on, their first and last names. I usually set the oldest Sim in the household to be the "founder" and then everyone else's relationship to the founder. (Kinda like a real census would). I keep their birth year, age, life stage, and other information like their aspiration, highest Education, previous surnames, gender orientation preference, and careers.
I group Sims together by household and who lives with who.
So currently in the Goth household, Mortimer Goth, Cassandra, Don, Dina, and the others live together. But Alexander Goth is now a young adult, going to college, and he is in a separate household.
I have my game modded to where 1 day = 1 year, and my current rounds are one Sims-Week long, ergo, 7 years pass in each round. Since this game came out near the end of 2004, I decided to start out each household in 2005 to represent a full-year.
So since it started in 2005, Round 1 lasts seven days/"years." Once it reaches 2011 in game I stop playing that household, and play the next household until I get through all the households in game.
Round 2 will start in 2012 and end in 2018. Round 3 will start in 2019 and end in 2025, etc.
My goal is to get through 5 round right now, which will be around 30 years passed. Since I just finished round 1, so I have a while to get to this goal.
The family play order when I started was:
Lothario, Goth, Caliente, Broke, Dreamer, Pleasant, Burb, Oldie, Langerak.
Aging
- Pregnancy/Unborn is modded to be 18 hours
(Note: since one day is one year, then "9 months" would equate to 18 hours). I'm fine with this because with the normal settings, it'd be a three day/year pregnancy which wouldn't make sense and playing pregnant Sims is awful, anyway). - Baby, 2 days (ages 0-1) - Toddler, 3 days (ages 2-4) - Child, 7 days (ages 5-11) - Teen, 7 days (ages 12-18) - Adult, (If my Sim doesn't go to college) 46 days (ages 19-65) - Elder, can live from 9-30 days (ages 66-95)
Since time passes differently when Sims 2 sims go to college, I use a mod so that college that lasts 8 days in game, and one year in college = 2 sims days to keep up the 4-years, because you need the extra time, believe me.
if my Sim went to college:
-> Young Adult (ages 19-22, 8 days) -> Adult, (ages 23-65, 42 days)
This is NOT what I do in Sims 3 or 4. Sims 2 just had a weird university system where you can only go to college and be a "young adult" directly from being a teenager or you age into an adult and don't go to college.
Naming conventions
So, I am TERRIBLE at coming up with names in the Sims so I found a naming convention system that works for me. And yes, it involves another tab in my census spreadsheet.
Basically I have a list of unique names I found from real life, or that I got from a baby-naming website, grouped by first letter and gender.
In order to keep the names interesting and varied, I will always use the next letter in the alphabet that has the least amount of names in town
The last baby born in game was named Imogen. The next letter in the alphabet that has no Sims in the town is the letter O, so I marked this row yellow to remind myself. Whenever the next Sims-baby is born, that baby's name will begin with the letter O and I use whichever one of the names calls out to me. After that I will mark Q as yellow, since the next letter with no names is Q.
This also makes me kinda excited to get Sims at some point with unique names, especially when we get to the VWXYZ part of the alphabet.
I also keep track of how many of each letter is in the town to keep it somewhat balanced and varied and also try not to repeat names so I don't get confused.
So like, there are 6 D-names in Pleasantview, meaning that there probably won't be any more D-names for a while until those Sims die.
Dead Sims
I haven't had to use this yet because I've had no deaths, but once a Sim does die, I have a secondary tab on my spreadsheet for "death records" where I will move their data, and include info on their death so they aren't on the living census. I put in a placeholder for now to give an idea of what it'll look like.
Other gameplay rules?
Honestly, this is enough for me to keep track of! However, I also want to say that I plan on capping most families at having 3 kids because if I don't, there will eventually be WAYYYY too many families, so some branches of some families may never have children. I don't want my world to become too overpopulated after a couple generations!
Also I highly encourage marrying the random townies and not just Pleasantview residents, because if you don't, The Pleasantview family trees end up becoming a family wreath and everyone gets related to everyone at some point... And yeah, this blog ain't promoting any incest.
Why play like this?
So I used to play the Sims with just one family, or try to start a big legacy, but I would get so bored. This way, I'm always playing with different Sims and it keeps the game interesting. I also love the Sims 2 Pleasantview's residents and their lore, and wanted to finally tell some stories with them.
The spreadsheets were a bit tedious at first, but now that I have it made it's great for keeping track of everything.

I'm about halfway through round 6 of 4 day rotations in Pleasantview. Each round has had 1 twin birth. Revising my rules to say only after halfway through adulthood can the 4th level of aspiration tree be reached. My currrent ages have sims starting adulthood at 22 (also when acr allows pregnancies to begin). I have not adjusted the fertility arc in acr (fertility begins decreasing at 30 i think, with 0 reached at age 50). They age to elders at 70 in my game though. So at age 30? I would add the 4th tree level (40 days to elderhood). I add second aspirations at adulthood, but haven't really made rules about how strong up the tree that goes. I have discovered I don't like the needs tree. With a good bed they almost never sleep.(this means i play daniel pleasant out on dates-3 in a day) plus the home lot to make him tired enough to sleep at night. I do not have the comunity time mod. I've had sims stay out for 24+ hours to get them tired enough, and that would be awful to wait through on the home lot! I also think that the lower the overall needs are the more frequently they reroll wants. And in basegame guide it said must sleep in a bed for 3 hours to even reroll wants when they rise. Discovering the cheat to increase allowed visitors was a blessing. Especially for going on dates or hunting date material. When you're related to half your peers with only two visitors allowed; finding townies to woo was rough🤣.
So far the only sims to age to elders have been the Pleasants. Daniel was caught cheating for the 3rd time when a townie asked him if he wanted to meet someone perfect for him (I didn't realize this immediately started a date) and had 3 bolts with Bella Goth. Mary-Sue decided enough was enough, and broke up with him immediately after the date ended- and I was caught off guard again when he became unselectable and left the lot. (I had planned for him to pack his exercise machine but Mary-Sue had other plans). He has since married Marylena Hamilton, whom he knocked up with twins! As she was a townie, I rolled my percentile dice and she was the unlucky one. Used sim blender to move her in, then impregnate with, then had her find her own place. I thought for sure he would run away or turn her down when she proposed and suggested elopement. She is the last house of the round though, so I haven't had a chance to play them yet for round 6. My next house to play is Nina Caliente, who married Benjamin. Her first child is just getting ready to head off to college in a day or so...the hot tub did not protect her on day one from Don Lothario. Since she is so shy I saw her as a one sim romance...constant dates. Very rare to see a meet someone new want in her panel, and her kids bringing home friends fills that regularly. Not entirely sure how friends are counted in this game... Brandi's friend count cut down to just 3 when her last child moved out to college... I've removed the no carpool for mother's mod, but not sure they get paid for using vacation. I know they weren't getting paid with that mod in. (My families are all dirt poor) Lillie managed to bring back several thousand from grants/ scholarships, which is good because she still hasn't rolled a want to get a job...
Dirk Dreamer married Lillith a few days after she moved in with him (went by day of the week when they moved out, so the girls are actually younger than the boys). While her sister got immediately knocked up with twins Lillith did not, and her husband found a lamp on his last day as a teen so wished for wealth. They have a very nice house, which is good. Maybe Dirk will take in his half siblings and help raise them. I just thought of that- I had Mary-Sue take them in (via sim blender so no name change/ memory) The dog was originally Dirk's so that was the only thing I was thinking when I moved the kids into the Pleasant house. Since she was adopted I figured she would be more willing to do that for the orphans. Also, Dirk is trying to raise an alien child...and I think I just saw Lillith puke behind her hand when visiting someone...👀
Lucy Futa stopped by to visit her parents (Burb) and threw up twice in the toilet...I hope that doesn't mean twins are coming from her...she'll be twin 6 if it is! Anyone a simpe wizard and know how to modify 4x acr for longer? Like, 6?
