Dominion Voting Systems said in a court filing Monday that it wants to put some of Fox News’ top executives and most well-known hosts on the witness stand when its $1.6 billion defamation case against the right-wing network goes to trial.
Among the network personnel that the voting technology company wants to call as witnesses are Fox News chief executive Suzanne Scott; Fox News President Jay Wallace; hosts Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Maria Bartiromo, Laura Ingraham, and Bret Baier; and former executive Bill Sammon and politics editor Chris Stirewalt.
Dominion also said it wishes to call to the stand Abby Grossberg, the Fox News producer who filed lawsuits against the network last week that alleged network lawyers coerced her into providing misleading testimony.

We just finished watching season one of Next Generation, and Picard articulated exactly why I struggle with a lot of new Trek that’s come out since 2009.
Our mission is to go forward, and it’s just begun. There is still much to do. Still so much to learn.
This naturally echoes the opening monologue, setting up future seasons in the final moments of the first. TNG season one has a lot of problems, and it’s weak in a lot of ways. Some episodes also absolutely rehash TOS plots, but apart from a single cameo (Bones!) in the pilot episode and some few-and-far-between references, it doesn’t rely as heavily on callbacks to its predecessor as it could. There are 2 or 3 Vulcan characters total, and the Romulans don’t show up until this last episode of the seasons! There’s one mention of Kirk and none of Spock or any other TOS character...and that’s as it should be, imo. Those kinds of callbacks have to be earned. We’re boldly going to new places with new characters! Of course we, the audience, want that recognition/familiarity—but either THIS story and THESE characters are worth our time on their own merits or they’re not. Picard won’t become my real dad captain just because he name-drops Jim Kirk!
That’s not to say that crafting new narratives around well-known, beloved characters is inherently bad. In the broader context of this franchise, though, it does feel...complacent. Since people already know and love Spock, a film or show that features him (and the rest of the original characters) isn’t taking as much of a risk as it might otherwise. And it’s comfortable for the audience too; they get an instant dopamine hit—“oh, this show has Spock! I like Spock!”—and sure it’s good, it’s got That Guy I Like in it! But that’s not what Trek is about. As a wise captain once said...
Risk is our business! That’s what a starship is all about!
In the future, I hope people in charge of new Trek projects remember that and leave the reimagining and retconning of the 23rd century behind...there’s still so much to do!

Currently listening to the audiobook of “Murder Must Advertise” and I’m not very far in to it (so obviously don’t know how it will turn out) and even though it’s obviously part of the wider Peter Wimsey series, it has just struck me that a murder mystery but shot as a workplace mockumentary (like the Thick of It or the Office) would probably have gone down a storm in the noughties.

Consumers increasingly want to support brands that foster a sense of community as well as share a positive message. While this idea may not seem novel, the difference today is that brands realize now it is essential for them to engage directly with their customers and support the same values if they want to survive.
[…] Gucci donated $500,000 to the young people leading the 2018 March for Our Lives. In The Business of Fashion Inside Fashion podcast, Gucci Chief Marco Bizzarri stated, “We don’t take stands if there is no relation to what we do.” A Gucci employee was killed in the Orlando shooting, and so the brand decided to donate this money to the March, believing that the gesture effectively supports a cause in a very real and quick way.

"Think of the two major possibilities here: Either the studios owe untold millions to their talents and paying it out will decimate their stock prices, or they owe so little because there really is no money in streaming and the bubble of their entire 21st century business model will burst in spectacular fashion. And make no mistake: this is a bubble. This is the inevitable climax of a stockholder-driven hunger for infinite growth, despite the fact that, by design, such a thing cannot and should not exist. The infection of Wall Street has overwhelmed the entertainment industry beyond repair, leading to cultural vandals like David Zaslav to be appointed with the callous duty of strip-mining decades’ of artistic beauty for pennies of tax write-offs. The past and future are frivolous in comparison to the short-term demands that the line keep going up."
