Not saying that anyone should do what I do; just saying that this how I typically begin to draw human figures, such as they are, from imagination. The program is Procreate.

Here’s another female fighter — my first drawing of 2025 — made up by me without reference in Procreate, with line smoothing turned off for that slightly wobbly handmade look. I have done my share of observational work from the live model, but that was years ago, at a time when I was drawing in a fine art rather than an illustrative mode. Anyway, excuses aside, this is the sort of “challenge” that interests me at the moment. P.S. I posted this earlier, but then I noticed some bits I wanted to change, so I deleted and am now posting again. Sorry!

Here’s the unclothed (uncompressed!) version of the “post-apocalyptic” female fighter that I posted earlier today. Both versions were created by me without reference in Procreate.

Another female fighter created by me without reference in Procreate. Have even less experience making up fully dressed characters than I have making up nude figures. (Have only ever made up a fully dressed character once before in my adult life!) Tried here to “imagine” practical post-apocalyptic combat gear.

Posted this collage yesterday, with very slight reservations, but this morning was able to locate a discarded cutaway in the trash that allowed me to add two tiny pieces to Venus’s hair. Not sure if this version is actually an improvement over the previous one, but there's no going back, so now I'm done, I suppose.
