Your NRC boys with FT magic has led to me imagining them as just the weirdest guild
They're one guild but they keep getting confused for seven. When you join you're assigned a color-coded clique based on vibes and they are heavily enforced. Crowley is the guild master but all the other guilds know the housewardens best because that man has never seen a problem he couldn't make someone else's. The fact that they keep acquiring very powerful mages with little regard for traditional morality would probably raise eyebrows if not for Fairy Tail doing the exact same thing + rampant property destruction making everyone too busy to care
Sorry to drop this word dump in your ask box.
Never apologize for word dumps fam. What else is community for, if not to inflict our bizarre ideas on each other?
Bruh the way you explained it... As a guild, NRC would totally be the slightly less scuffed Phantom Lord. Just with way more firepower.
Because Phantom Lord had all of those mini-sections of their guild in other cities that we never saw. I assume there was some location-appointed leader for those. What if instead of some one-town multi-clique thing, it was spread over a bit of a wider area? And then when somebody joined the NRC guild (Night Raven is actually a very solid guild name I'd say), they just picked a spot to be their home base... But each of the seven branches have more or less extreme rivalries with the other branches, because damn if these nutjobs aren't competitive and also kinda petty, so committing to one branch becomes a social thing. Not everyone is brave like Rook and pops between two different branches like it's nbd.
So like, each branch has their own little aesthetic and name and they get mistaken for an independent guild all of the time, but really it all funnels into funny birdman and technically less complicated paperwork because it's all his fault if something happens, but as you said, Crowley would 1000% foist as much of that work on the seven deputy-leaders/housewardens as often as possible. (Crack Idea that Might Be True: Crowley is definitely some sort of cryptid that has been alive for hundreds of years and this is how he "maintains his human facade" but all of the sub-leaders know this and they also know that he really does hate responsibility that much.)
Although Night Raven would totally find their guild spirit if someone else gets involved. Like that Royal Sword guild? United front against them, no sweat. Eff them guys.
Obviously it's not uncommon for peeps in different branches to do stuff together, job to job, but there still is way too much Branch Pride going on for them to completely drop the internal rivalries.
....dang it fam now I am thinking about this au way too hard again. It's becoming story shaped and that's so dangerous XD (and very fun)
#fairy tail x twisted wonderland#crossover au#ask#friend bama-lama-ding-dong you're onto something glorious here#i like this a lot#they would definitely be a morally scuffed guild overall#but they have enough good noodles#and good noodles in levels of influence#to keep it from being phantom lord bad#but then again guilds are largely amoral anyways so that's not too much of a factor#it's just some nr guys would be down with breaking the law a little too easily#though then you have almost-was-a-rune-knight Riddle keeping them in check#there's a lot of good food here oh no

Coloured Balls "Rock Your Arse Off! Live At Festival Hall 10 Nov. 72" 2020 Australia Hard Rock
youtube
Stunning quality live recording documenting COLOURED BALLS tearing the roof off Melbourne's venerable Festival Hall - available on vinyl for the first time! This gig was recorded by Armstrong's Studio and engineered by John Sayers, who also did their "Ball Power" LP. This album has the entire 3-song, 30 minute set they played that night, including the only known recording of "GOD." with vocals!!! LOBBY LOYDE wryly introduces "GOD" with, "This is the first movement from an electronic symphony called "The First Movement of GOD". It may not be your thing, but can't win 'em all." Their set was shortened due to them playing last on the bill and Festival Hall not exactly being a late-night sort of place. The Festival Hall gig was a farewell show for headliners BILLY THORPE and THE AZTECS who were to jetting off to London the following day in search of even bigger recognition having already completely conquered their native Australia. Mastered from the original tape by Aztecs drummer and producer/engineer extraordinaire, GIL MATTHEWS. Analog start to finish. The Ledge #639: Annual Halloween Spooktacular!
The annual Halloween show is yet another Ledge tradition. Every year I gather up whatever new scary tunes have been released, and fill up whatever time is left with tracks I call "new to me". Thanks to a plethora of subissions this year, I didn't have to do a lot of searching. It's great that so many artists, labels, and/or PR companies think that this show is a worthwhile outlet to get the word out about new releases!

Little Richard Documentary Soundtrack Streaming Now
Little Richard: I Am Everything: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available on all streaming platforms. The album has music from Lisa CortĂ©s' superb documentary about the late rock and roll icon. Little Richard's hits "Tutti Frutti," "Long Tall Sally," "Good Golly, Miss Molly" and "Rip It Up" are featured alongside two previously unheard covers from Valerie June and Cory Henry. Tamar-kali's original piece from the soundtrack is also included on the 14-song album. The CD format will arrive in September and the vinyl version will come out in December. The black vinyl recording is coming and a Tutti Frutti-colored pressing of the album can be pre-ordered via VareseSarabande.com and CraftRecordings.com.Â
The documentary follows Richard's life from his childhood in Macon, Georgia, becoming a rock star in the '50s, and his constant push and pull between secular life and religion. Richard's contemporaries, musicians, and academics were interviewed and shared their insights on his music, cultural significance, and personal struggles. In 2010, "Tutti Frutti" was added to the National Recording Registry because it innovated popular music. The documentary is one of the few times Richard's genius has been publicly recognized. In 1993 he received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and he was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2003. He was also inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2015 before passing in 2020. Little Richard: I Am Everything can be watched on Video On Demand and more information can be found at littlericharddocumentary.com. Check out my review here.Â

PS!Cloud @ the KH scientists: WTF are y'all doing?
KH Scientists: Well, we haven't stuck our dicks in science, or assumed that correlation = causation, so we're model scientists!
PS!Cloud: That is a ten year old. And you're doing unethical human experimentation.
KH Scientists: We haven't seen any rules against that.

Since we're giving Link's each other's adventures, what about the Four Sword gang? RGBV and Shadow!
Skyward Sword: This poor, poor bird is trying so hard. Â But on the bright side, having four autonomous people really makes splitting the job load easy. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Ghirahim regret everything.
Minish Cap: Red wears Ezlo. Â Because Vio and Blue cannot be allowed near anything that could be perceived as favoritism apparently, and Green is far too busy reining those two in to think about anything else. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Vaati regret everything.
Four Swords: Red wields the Four Sword.  Because four Blues was a disaster, four Vios was almost worse, and Green hasnât even bothered to try because heâs too busy reining those two in. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make this Vaati regret everything too.  Itâs a hobby.
Ocarina of Time: Ganondorf can't take the Spiritual Stones if he has no idea which Link is holding them. Meanwhile, Shadow takes extreme offense with the Water Temple and decides to make Ganondorf regret everything.  Right after he takes care of this tasteless copy.
Majoraâs Mask: Green gets the Deku Mask, Red gets the Goron Mask, Vio gets the Zora Mask, and under no circumstances is Blue allowed anywhere near the Bomb Mask ever again. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Majora regret everything.  And maybe the Happy Mask Salesman too, anybody who smiles like that has it coming.
Twilight Princess: Yeah, itâs kinda boring waiting for whoeverâs turn it is with the Curse Stone to get back from the newest unreachable area, but itâs still better than the time Midna gave all four of them a go at once. Â Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Zant regret everything. Â Once heâs done with that, he decides to make Ganondorf regret everything too. Â Itâs a hobby.
The Legend of Zelda: The only reason they know where theyâre going is because Vio is making a map of the country as they go. Â Side note, thereâs only three swords in this entire kingdom? Â Why? Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Ganon regret everything. Â
A Link To The Past: Yeah itâs kinda boring waiting for whoeverâs turn it is with the Dark Mirror to get back from the latest dungeon, but on the bright side itâs fostering individual creative thinking...! Â Yeah no theyâre all really annoyed about it actually. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Agahnim regret everything. Â Oh, heâs Ganon too? Â Perfect, two for the price of one!
Oracle of Ages: Shadow takes offense with possession, apparently.  Heâs about to make Veran regret everything, so the others have made the tactical decision to stand back and watch the carnage.
Oracle of Seasons: Red loves Moosh. Â That is all. Meanwhile, Shadow discovers Subrosia. Â And their bomb supply. Â Coincidentally, heâs about to make Onox regret everything.
Linkâs Awakening: Shadow takes offense with mental manipulation, apparently. Â Heâs about to make the Windfish regret everything.
A Link Between Worlds: Well, Ravio didnât exactly have four bracelets, but he did help Green get the other three out of their paintings when it turned out to be an issue.  Nice guy. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Hilda regret everything.  No real reason why, he just feels like she deserves it.
Wind Waker: Red gets the baton, because Blue cannot be trusted with weather patterns and Vio cannot be trusted to not mess with Blue via weather patterns, and Green is too busy reining them in to bother with anything else. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Ganondorf regret everything. Â With a cannon, preferably. Â Tetraâs got just his sort of vibe.
Phantom Hourglass: Vio deals with the Ocean Temple, because Red gets tired, Blue told the building to go screw itself after the first ten floors, and someone has to keep an eye on those two so Green canât be bothered with it. Meanwhile, Shadow decides to make Bellum regret everything.  Heâs a squid, thatâs hilarious.
Spirit Tracks: Vio drives the Train, because the lackey trains scare Red, Blue is no longer allowed to drive since he played Cucco with one of said lackey trains, and Green is too busy dealing with that to be bothered with anything else. Meanwhile, Shadow still takes offense with possession. Â Heâs about to make Malladus regret everything.

Pulp heroes are well known for wielding guns, but are there any that have different signature weapons? Are there any weapons you would love to see a pulp hero wield?
(Green Lama art by edude-makes-comics)
Quite a few, yeah. In general, because there was only so much violence the heroes could get away with, most of the really out-there batshit weapons tended to be the ones created and wielded by the villains, with âguy with a really weird weapon or method of murder that, either presents a mystery too confusing for regular law enforcement to solve, or a threat too dangerous to be allowed to existâ being easily one of the most reocurring kind of monster-of-the-week for most long-running pulp heroes. Guns were popular and ubiquotuous but not the only kind, even the more famous gun-toters like The Shadow or The Spider mixed things on occasion.
Some particular stand-outs among the gun-free pulp heroes, not counting the outright superpowers or non-boolit kinds of guns:
Doc Savage: I mean, kind of, partially included here because heâs a weird example of how gun-toting pulp heroes are so ubiquotous we attribute excessive gun usage even to characters who didnât actually use them. Doc didnât particularly have a âsignature weaponâ, but a lot of modern renditions of Doc Savage based on the James Bama rendition depict him with big bulky guns to the point that Docâs âsignature weaponâ nowadays might as well be a Flash Gordon flare gun, but despite the existence of âmercy bulletsâ, Doc Savage actually hated using guns of any kind as anything other than a last-resort (and even then, thatâs what the mercy bullets were for). Doc sometimes invented new forms of weaponry, like miniature grenades, specialized explosives and gas-filled glass balls, to be used on occasion.
Doc is mostly included here because his assistant Ham Brooks actually did have one of the more famous signature weapons of the pulps: a black cane with a concealed sword, coated with a potent anesthetic.
The Green Lama: Who detested guns about as much as Batman. His signature weapon consisted of his long red scarf that he used as a whip and garrote, which makes a pretty funny contrast with the fact that heâs the pacifist American pulp hero, so that means he non-lethally strangles the absolute shit out of criminals instead of shooting them.
Zenigata Heiji: A highly popular detective who appeared in novels, collections and short stories from 1931 to 1958, probably the most direct example of a Japanese Pulp Hero Iâve seen thus far. Heâs an Edo-period working class Great Detective who unofficially works for the government in assisting the police without being quite one of them himself. He is most famous for his signature weapons: a jutte he wields, and the heavy coins (called zeni, hence his name) he throws at criminals to catch them.
Zorro: Kinda goes with saying and that goes for all the other Zorro knock-offs / alikes who also largely employed physical bladed weaponry like swords, rapiers, sabers, and etc.
Indiana Jones: Also kinda goes without saying.
(Dossouye art by Paul Davey)
Sword and Sorcery characters in general: Robert E.Howardâs Conan and Conan-alikes (as well as Solomon Kane, whose signature weapon is a staff), figures that veer into an opposite end like Elric and his Stormbringer, and Charles R Saundersâ Dossouye tends to be depicted often with spears and machetes. You rarely see guns brought into sword-and-sorcery kind of pulp heroes, to not diminish the appeal of cutting down armies while going buck-wild naked with swords intrinsic to the genre.
The Avenger: His signature weapons consist of a gun named âMikeâ, and a knife named âIkeâ. Thatâs like, half of what you prompted, but still counts.
Occult Detectives: Several Occult Detective characters who follow closer on the Manly Wade Wellman / Carnacki approach tend to ditch guns in favor of classier or more occult-themed stuff, with both Judge Pursuivant and John Thunstone wielding sword canes, and Luna Bartendaleâs divining rod.
Lavender Jack: Who has two signature weapons in the form of his clawed gloves that transmit explosive waves via fingersnap, and the canes that he uses for more direct combat.
Bob Larkin, a Black Mask detective created by Erle Stanley Gardner. The character uses a billliard cue as his main weapon and has 15 years worth of practice as a juggler to make the most use of it.
If we count Scrooge McDuck as a pulp hero, which we have to, we definitely gotta include his cane here as well.
Brutus Lloyd, who was created by The Golden Amazonâs creator John Russell Fearn and appeared in 3 stories for Amazing Stories. Heâs a four-foot tall, deep-voiced scientist, criminologist and consulting detective who specializes in solving sci-fi crimes via unorthodox methods, and his main weapon consists of an umbrella tipped with acid he uses to defend himself. He debuted about a year before The Penguin did.
Iâm sure thereâs gotta be others Iâm missing either in pulps or pulp-adjacent material, feel free to point out others in the notes. Now, as to the other part of your question, what kind of weapons Iâd like to see pulp heroes wield,
Pretty much anything but pistols. Even other kinds of guns are fine, thereâs a trillion wacky kinds of guns out there that can be used to mix things up.
Wrenches, Shovels, Fish wrapped in newspaper, Bottles, Russian Fists for Smashing Baybeez, etc: TF2 as a whole has a painfully massive extensive catalogue of just how many kinds of guns and weapons you can give your characters and itâs a huge source of inspiration for design, thatâs where Iâd be pulling a lot from. The wrench as a dramatic physical weapon in particular I think works really well for a pulp hero aesthetic.
Chainsaws: I have not been the same since Mandy gave me that sick stupid ass chainsaw duel. Nothing has ever tasted the same. I want more of it.
Gadgets that are completely fucking stupid but still work anyway because this is fiction and if anything this is another reason to do it, taking something that shouldnât work and make it work.
A kitchen sink, because why should Batman get to have all the fun?
And everything in Weird Alâs Hardware Store. For a start. Make it work.

Gallery update 20 December 1972, Queen performed @ The Marquee Club, London, England The main act was Sparks, and Fantasy was the opening band.Queenâs last show of 1972, and one of only five during the whole year, was at The Marquee Club on December 20. Ronnie Beck was a good friend of John Sherry, a promoter who regularly booked bands into The Marquee, and he kindly agreed to find Queen the occasional gig. Their performance and the audience response was an improvement on The Pheasantry, but it brought them no closer to a record deal, not in the UK at least. Â Ronnie Beck, whose reputation was merely focused by the industryâs apathy, had invited Jac Holtzman, the managing director of Elektra Records, to the show and afterwards Holtzman agreed to sign the band for the US. Queen were now part of a roaster boasting The Doors and Love on a credible American label which was trying to re-establish itself in the Seventies. But Queen yet could not find a record deal in the UK.â âQueen - The Early Yearsâ by Mark HodkinsonTrident set this show up as Queen's first as a "signed" band. 'Fantasy' was the opening act.
The guitarist of that band, Peter James, recalls: "The flier for the 20th just says two groups. If this was Queen's first Marquee gig, I'm sure it's us who played with them though I could never remember the date. It was a joint promotion gig. We had our first album out on Polydor. We went on first." The beautiful pictures were all likely taken by Doug Puddifoot. The first photo was used for the insert in the final Queen album, Made In Heaven. The second photo was used for the front cover of Queen's self-titled debut album Considering the circumstances around the latter, it was probably no coincidence that the remaining members of the band decided to bookend things by selecting a picture from the same show. A recording of this show is reportedly collecting dust in the band's archives after being purchased from a private collector. But it may be just one of a plethora of early recordings. It has been said that Queen's first front of house sound tech, John Harris, recorded all of the early Queen gigs from day one. Rumor also states that Queen Productions owns footage and thereâs a âliveâ cut of ââDoing Alrightâ on YouTube, however, it sounds like the record version.  I canât wait until the entire concert is pulled from archives and released. Hereâs the amazing setlist:Great King Rat, Son And Daughter, Jesus, Doing All Right, Ogre Battle, Keep Yourself Alive, Liar, Jailhouse Rock, Bama Lama Bama LooQueen were confidently blazing a trail towards rock stardom, even though it would take another year before they gained mainstream popularity.
