Smol snippet of Jon Hamm reading the Good Omens excerpt at the The Art of Elysium’s 2024 Heaven Gala, 6.1.2024 :) ❤ (I hope we will get it all one day! :) <3)
Jon: From a little story called Good Omens, The Nice and Accurate prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, by Terry Pratchett and our own Neil Gaiman.
The angel waved a hand expansively, if a little unsteadily. "Loads of buggerall, dear boy."
"But it gets there anyway," Crowley persevered.
"How?"
"It doesn't matter!"
"It could use a space ship," said the angel.
Crowley subsided a bit. "Yeah," he said. "If you like. Anyway, this bird—"
"Only it is the end of the universe we're talking about," said Aziraphale. "So it'd have to be one of those space ships where your descendants are the ones who get out at the other end. You have to tell your descendants, you say, When you get to the Mountain, you've got to—" He hesitated.

Neil Gaiman at The Art of Elysium's 2024 Heaven Gala by wetalkduringmovies, 6.1.2024 :) (x)
Neil: I'm writing the script right now.
Q: Really? For the show?
Neil: For the show.
Q: Wow, that's really exciting. Hi. Me and Sasha are on the red carpet for Art of Elysium Neil Gaiman's Heaven Gala. I was wondering, when it comes to adaptation, whether it's adapting something like Christian text into something like Good Omens or adapting the book into a TV show, how do you approach that process?
Neil: A lot of the time, you try and figure out what it is that you responded to and why the new medium... what the new medium can bring to it. So with Good Omens, for example, adapting that, I had to go, okay, well, I've got this big, sprawling book with an awful lot of characters in it, and I'm going to have to make that into a show. And Crowley and Aziraphale are going to be my stars, so I need them in it more, and I need to give them a story, and I need to hang it and shape it around them. And once I had that idea, then adapting it was relatively easy.
Q: Okay, that's amazing. And congrats on Season Three.

The brilliant Good Omens drunk Aziraphale and Crowley bookshop scene from the book, 5 ways: :)
The Full Cast Audiobook with David Tennant and Michael Sheen 2021 (audiobook masterpost :))
David Tennant reading the scene at the Playing in the Dark event 2019
Neil Gaiman reading the scene at the event An Evening With Neil Gaiman event at University of Washington 2015 (x)
Part of Michael Sheen reading the scene at the The Town Hall Good Omens event with Neil and Nick Offerman 2019 (x)
Part of Jon Hamm reading the scene The Art of Elysium’s Heaven Gala event 2024

Fun fact: Neil said about this scene that there there were lines by both of them but it was primarily by Terry, that he remembers this was: something that I just remember Terry phoning me up and reading it to me. And this was the point that I knew this book was going to work. ❤

With playwright Jeremy O. Harris tapped as “librarian” emcee, the evening was filled with readings — Joseph Gordon-Levitt chose the foreword of Neil Postman’s “Amusing Ourselves to Death,” while Shanola Hampton took on “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” by Dr. Seuss. Patton Oswalt made the room laugh with a passage from “Tamarisk Row” by Gerald Murnane, as did Jon Hamm, reciting “Good Omens” — Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel — which Gaiman adapted into a fantasy-comedy television series. Hamm is among its cast.
“Hot mic, hot mic,” Hamm said. “You’ll have to excuse me…I can only hear the voices of the co-leads,” he went on, referencing his costars, Scottish actor David Tennant and Welsh actor Michael Sheen. “I’m going to do a ridiculous approximation of their accents. Bear with me.”
Anyone knows if there is a recording of this? 👀❤
