The classic Alice Cooper episode of The Muppet Show first aired today in New York City in 1978. I've been going by the UK release dates since the show was filmed in the UK, but this Halloween-themed third season episode wouldn't air in the UK until late November. This episode features a running storyline where Alice is attempting to gather the souls of the Muppets for his unnamed "Boss."

Riverdale Rewatch 2024

I AM SO CONFUSED. I'm on season 3 episode 2...so we find out that they're playing that game thats like dungeons and dragons. Dilton is dead and Ethel had a siezure after Betty had a siezure and that girl from the farm was there for both. Ben just killed himself in the name of the game because he wanted to ascend....WILD. Mad Dog apparently DIED which I hope isn't true but who knows because now they're saying they're putting Archie in his spot. FP and ALICE slept together!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited about that. The parents got together and talked about "what happened years ago with the blue lips" MAAM WHAT????? Bughead is sleeping together in the bunker...little creepy but when you need a place to go, you go anywhere so I get it. Griffins and Gargoyles (very clever name) confuses the shit outta me because like Betty said it's like a cult. Poor Archie is still in jail and SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT HIRAM DIES! Also I HATE the warden. Still don't care for Veronica but I would love to go to a speakeasy. I feel like I'm not going to understand this season at all and I'm hoping I'm not going to stop watching like last time because this was the season I had stopped watching originally. OMG the fighting ring....also poor juaquin. (did i spell that right?) Someone please explain this season to me? Or just give me some spoilers because This is BANANAS.

Not my most frugal moment. But as an emo millennial who can't fly to Vegas and break the bank even more for WWYF, I'm SO stoked for this.

I missed the Black Parade Tour the first time (on account of being too young at that point for my parents to let me go to big shows; I couldn't go to warped tour until I was 17.) So I'm really glad I'll get to make up for that now.

I remember what an impact this album had when it came out. I still remember seeing the video for Welcome to the Black Parade--the first single released--for the very first time. Can't remember whether it was MTV or VH1, but I was sitting on the couch in our living room, 13 or 14 years old, and I was completely transfixed. By the sadness, the triumph, the spectacle, the intensity, the incredible musicianship and searing, undeniable heart. I had enjoyed their previous singles and videos from Three Cheers, but this felt bigger, more cohesive, more refined. I played the absolute shit out of the album on my iPod and commiserated with my friends and my sister over how good it all was. My workout playlist features several Black Parade tracks that I still hear regularly, and I Don't Love You is one of a handful of songs I can still reliably play on the piano.

To be able to hear this album front to back live, by a band who still rocks and clearly gives a shit, in the midst of yet another time of intense national turmoil...wow, it's going to be special.

I was lucky enough to see MCR live in 2011 for their Danger Days tour, where they played some Black Parade tracks mixed in with older and newer songs. Neon Trees opened, and it was one of the best, highest-energy shows I've EVER been to. Hundreds of concerts later, that's really saying something. (And for ~$50-60 for a General Admission ticket...that + waiting in line for 6 hours put me 6 rows from the front.) I went for a seat this time, for the sake of my wallet and my knees. And opting for one level better than actual nosebleeds still ran me around three times that 2011 price. But who knows if we'll ever get this chance again?

Overall the ticket buying experience was smoother than I thought it might be. I will say that the "Preferred Seating" designation is kind of bullshit though. Basically any seat on the end of a row or towards the front of a section was designated as preferred, and ONLY available to buy if you bought at least two tickets at a time. I just needed one, so my only options were to be smack dab in the middle of a row and of a section. I had never seen that before and I don't think it's fair. I can understand not being allowed to leave a single seat by itself at the end of a row, but waaaaay more seats than that were off-limits to singleton buyers. Maybe it was some kind of anti-scalping or anti-bot measure? I dunno. But that caused some anxiety as I spent a few minutes trying to find a seat I could actually buy.

It all worked out though. This is going to be special. At least I have SOMEthing to look forward to in 2025. We'll carry on. ✊🖤
