AND FAI GENTLY TOUCHES HIM
Fai gently extends that small connection, still new and fresh between them. Lava Lamp has been physically apart from them during his recounting of his story but now Fai closes that distance to give him support for what he knows is surely coming next.
And I love that it’s Fai that does this. It’s Fai who ALSO knows what it’s like to make a promise as a child that will define the rest of your life in an ugly and torturous way. When you don’t understand the full meaning of the words you say it’s easy to say them, but then you have to live with the unknowable consequences of that or know that you let that person die and then gave up on them.
Fai has the unique parallel of having also been manipulated into a pact as a child - but he’s also a sign that you can survive it. That you can let it control you forever or you can slowly heal and let it all go. But Fai’s promise was made on the grounds of a lie that Evil Wolverine told him, and in reality his brother was always out of reach. Lava Lamp’s promise is a bit different, given that Sakura's fate is still up in the air, but he’s still the closest person to understand that kind of burden.
And regardless, the point of the moment is that Lava Lamp is not alone anymore, and they communicate that between without a single word.

we're all made of glitter and nightmares (and baby, we thrive)
Tsubasa Chronicle Month 2023
- Day 5: Mokona
~
Mokona knows it's a weird thing, but… well, she's both happy and sad at the same time, right now, and it's not a feeling she thinks she'll ever get used to.
She's happy, yes, because finally, Syaoran and Fai and Kurogane have all found what they have been searching for on this journey, and she's happy that Syaoran and Sakura can finally stay together and be together and not be heartbroken anymore. She's happy that Fai's smiles are no longer brittle and sad, and that Kuro-puu is… well, he's still grumpy, but he's not quite so angry anymore. He smiles more, too, now, and it makes Mokona happier than she can express.
But.
The journey has ended.
After such a long time, after so many worlds, and so many tears, and so many adventures, everything has finally come to an end.
And Mokona knows that her time with her family is ending, too.
Sure, she's delighted to finally go back to the other Mokona (visits and shared dreams rarely are enough to stave off the longing to see her other half), but… Mokona has grown to love her small, silly little family so, so much, she can't really bear the thought of not being with them anymore. Of never seeing them again.
"We'll visit Mokona, too, as often as we visit the other kids," Fai promises, face pressed into Mokona's cheek. "Mokona's our child just as much as Syaoran-kun and Sakura-chan. Right, Kuro-sama?"
They both turn to Kurogane, who looks at them with soft eyes. "As if I'd be lucky to live my life Bun-free," he says, and they all know it's a tease to get Mokona to stop crying.
It works. "Kuro-daddy is mean! So mean!" Mokona exclaims, jumping from Fai's hands to Kurogane's shoulder, small hands pawing at his face in fake anger. "Mean daddy!"
"Yeah, yeah," Kurogane snorts and cradles Mokona against his chin. "I'm the worst, I know."
Mokona buries her face into Kurogane's neck, and rubs against the warm skin there, taking comfort in the love she feels from him. From Fai, too. And from Sakura and Syaoran, where they've already retreated to their quarters for the night.
Yes. The journey is over.
Yes, they'll see each other less from now on.
Yes, it will be hard and Mokona will be sad for the time being.
But Mokona knows she'll never really lose her family.

Disclaimer: I don't own Beast King GoLion.
Author Note: This is Fem Akira/Fala pairing, but the duo are just realizing their feelings for the other. This has three scenes that could have gone slightly different if Akira had been born female.
"Fem Akira"
~Episode 2~
"Daibazaal plundered all the treasure on Altea, destroying us." Raible paused before he swung his cane at the group. Hiroshi and Tsuyoshi jumped while Akira and Isamu ducked briefly before Isamu and Takashi jumped out of the way. Akira straightened up and blocked with her spear.
"What gives?" Tsuyoshi demanded.
"I knew it. He was just making us let our guard down!" Hiroshi exclaimed.
"What the hell's going on here?" Akira questioned.
Raible was surprised to see that there was a woman in the group.
"I had to test your skills," Raible answered. "Especially since one of you is a woman."
"Just because Chief is a woman doesn't mean she can't fight," Isamu jumped in. "She's as capable as any of us!"
"Moody, that's enough," Akira said.
"Agreed. The princess will welcome you five indeed."
The group looked up the staircase to see a lovely young woman in a pink dress. She smiled and slowly descended the staircase. Raible explained how he and the princess survived the attack as Fala came to a stop at the bottom of the stairs.
Akira had to figuratively pick her jaw off the ground. The princess was breathtakingly gorgeous. She had to gather her wits about her because she barely heard the princess asking for their names.
"Kogane Akira." Akira had no idea how she was able to say her name without stuttering.
"Shirogane Takashi."
"Kurogane Isamu."
"Seidou Tsuyoshi."
"Suzuishi Hiroshi."
As the princess told her sad tale, Akira couldn't help but feel for her. As the tears fell from her blue eyes, Akira wanted to brush those tears away and perhaps even comfort her. Akira mentally shook herself as Raible interjected himself into the conversation, but she still missed the entire conversation until GoLion was mentioned. The leader focused on what was being told to her team. Even thought she was hesitant, there was no way she was going to make the decision for everyone. She looked to her right at Takashi, who said, "If we don't kill Daibazaal, there's no way we'll survive!"
"He's right. Let's fight Daibazaal!" Akira agreed. She was happy to see the tears were no longer coursing down the princess's face. The smile on her face drew Akira's attention even as Isamu, Tsuyoshi, and Hiroshi added their comments.
Fala held her hand out, clearly indicating that the team should kiss the back of it.
Everyone laid down their spears, and Akira approached, knelt down, and grasped her hand. She laid a kiss on it and stood up, nodding to the princess. Before she stood aside for her teammates to do the same, Fala realized that she was female as well. "A woman?"
Fala's eyes sparkled at the idea of a woman in the leadership position. Takashi stepped up to kiss her hand.
%%%
~Episode 7~
Hiroshi, Akira, and Isamu stopped running once they were a few corridors away from the royal governess.
"Geez, now we have some old lady on our hands," Isamu groused.
You said it. I can imagine what's waiting for us," Akira replied. "Especially when she finds out that I'm female."
"No sweat. Just leave this to me," Hiroshi stated.
Just then, the alarms sounded. Of all the reasons for the alarm, the princess trying to fly the Blue Lion wasn't on Akira's list at all. She was impressed with Fala's actions and willingness to put herself in harm's way to protect her planet. Akira found herself wanting to see what the princess could do, and no ranting from the governess could make change her mind.
~Later in Episode 7~
"Just a moment! In a lonely village in the Pierrane Mountains live strong hunters. Maybe one of their men is qualified," Hys stated.
"Men? Women are just as qualified. Kogane is a woman after all," Fala mentioned.
"Kogane?" Hys questioned.
"The one wearing red and white," Raible clarified.
"The ingrate who told me to shut up is a girl?!" Hys was indignant.
"She is not an ingrate," Fala countered. "She's brave, selfless, intelligent, and beautiful." Fala couldn't help but blush when she thought of the female pilot, and no ranting from either Raible or Hys could prevent her from wanting to get closer to her.

A Summoner Birthday
Special Quest: Claude
So, this is the world the Crafter and the Night Fairy created. I can see why this would be a perfect place for your birthday.
I'm glad you like it here. I never pegged you as someone who's interested in fairytales.
Claude: (laughing) You'd be surprised what kind of things we're into.
You and Claude came to the virtual fairytale world to spend the day together.
Claude: We would like to see that castle. The one you pricked your finger and fell asleep.
Lupin: I know what you're talking about. I know a short cut.
So, you and Claude leave for the castle of the sleeping princess.
After getting passed the castle obstacles, you and Claude make it to the room where you were just sleeping.
Claude: So, this is the room where it happened.
Lupin: That's right.
Claude: You pricked your finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fell asleep.
Lupin: Again, right.
Claude: Then, Wakan Tanka kissed you and you awoke. That was a pretty daring move you made here.
Lupin: We had to. We needed to find the breaker.
Claude: Is the breaker still here?
Lupin: No. After we rebooted this world, Kurogane deleted them and made it so only one is needed. I don't know where he hid it, but I trust him.
Claude: We trust him, too.
Claude looks at the bed longingly and a bit sad.
Lupin: What is it?
Claude: We're just sad... We wish we were the one to wake you with a kiss.
Lupin: That's what you're thinking?
Claude: If only we didn't had that meeting, we would have gone with you that time for your birthday... We love you just as much as Wakan Tanka does.
Lupin: Me and Wakan love you, too, Claude. We all do. Even Oniwaka, though it's a bit shaky, still.
Claude: We know. Thank you for reminding us.
You look at the bed... You have an idea.
Lupin: I think I know what can cheer you up.
Claude: (puzzled) What?
You get on the bed. Claude is blushing.
Lupin: We can... pretend.
Claude: (surprised) What?
Lupin: Let's reenact that scene. I'll pretend to be under the sleeping spell and you come to wake me with a kiss.
Claude: (smiling) That sounds like a good idea. I'll go outside and wait. When you're ready, let me know.
Lupin: Okay.
Claude goes out the door.
Lupin: (acting) Oh no! I've pricked my finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel, just like the evil fairy said I would. Now, I must go to sleep for a hundred years. The only thing that can break the spell and awaken me is the kiss of true love.
You get into the bed and lay still with your eyes closed.
You hear the door open and Claude comes in.
Claude: (also acting) Oh, goodness, us. He's so beautiful. He's probably the most handsome and most beautiful prince we have ever seen. It is such a shame that a spell has kept him asleep all these years. But maybe if we just kiss him, he would feel our love. He would dream of us for sure.
You can sense Claude getting closer. He is now next to you on the bed. He leans closer to your face. Closer... Closer... Closer...
Claude: But then again... We could follow the other version where we make love to you in your sleep.
Lupin: (getting up) What?!
Claude: (laughing) Joking! We're only joking!
Lupin: (sighs) Don't scare me like that.
You get back down in bed.
Claude leans close to your face. Your lips and his meet. You can feel the warmth of his touch fill you with such love and comfort. As his lips depart, you open your eyes and smile.
Lupin: (acting again) Oh. You must have been the one who kissed me and broke the spell. Thank you, oh noble soul.
Claude: (also resuming acting) You're welcome. We have never met someone like you, before. Won't you come with us and be our bridegroom?
Lupin: Only if the other princes you woke when you kissed me will be your bridegrooms, too.
Claude: We don't see why not. Very well. We can all become each other's bridegrooms.
Lupin and Claude: And we can live happily ever after.
You and Claude laugh and clap at such a thing.
Lupin: That sure took a lot out of us. I think we deserve a nap.
Claude: There's already a bed here. Why not here?
Lupin: I guess we can... You're not actually going to...
Claude: Only if you want to.
Lupin: Good. I've only ever done it with Wakan. I want to wait until we're all together.
Claude: Whatever you wish.
(getting into bed with you) Nice and comfy? Don't worry. It may not look it at first, but we still have our undies on. Like we said, we won't do it unless Lupin asks us to.
That's good. Us just lying together is good enough... For now.
You and Claude lie close together. You can feel each other's warmth.
Claude: Being here together like this makes us wonder. What would Snow think of this scene?
Lupin: He would probably be surprised. But he would also be happy because his darling master finally found someone who truly loves him. Especially if he knew that because of me, there are others who truly love him, too.
Claude: I think so, too. Snow is very loyal to us. He would do anything for us. But to him, we our just the master. He won't love us that way unless we order him to. It's nice to have someone who love us for real.
Lupin: I'm glad to hear that.
Claude: We come from a long line of conquers. Be we've hardly ever found anyone who simply loves us for us and not just for our power. We thought we would never find someone like that until you first appeared in the ring. We are happy you came there to talk to Kengo. Otherwise, we never would have met. We were told that in a previous loop, he was a member of our Guild. I think that's fate's way of telling us something.
Lupin: And what's that?
Claude gets closer to you and you can feel a fire within him.
Claude: Something will always bring us together. Only this time, it's not just us.
Lupin: (smiling) ... I'm happy that something brought us together, too.
You and Claude smile in each other's arms as you both drift off to sleep.
You both wake up to find how late it had gotten. You both get dressed and leave... Wondering what else fate has in store.

Fai’s post eyeloss vibe shift:
Alright. So after eye loss Fai's official arts became like this:
Very beautiful, very detailed, very subtle but also - slutty energy. That eyepatch isn't helping at all. Also this is probably most kurofai shippy art we got - and it's around Infinity angst arc.
And it's not just art, but Fai's general behavior:
You're really hopeless "Kurogane" - Fai plz stop with this vampire divorce thing. But since "no sex before divorce" is a thing in Clamp mangas, it's forgivable Infinity angst banging
It's us fans, don't mind us, keep on going 👀
Fai and his slutty blood drinking. It's all innate instinct to him to lick wounds like this so ho genes
And it's not just behavior, outfits too:
What is that collar Fai plz wear more of it.
Yes. Like that. Slutty outfit. Excuse the angst for a moment, this is Fai vibes appreciation post. I was about to say how that O-ring has no practical use but:
BDSM arc. Thank you for this Kurogane. I'm sure there's at least one fic that explores this concept. And it's not just infinity angst arc, it happens after it too:
Fai asked for private room for him and Kurogane, undressed him and licked his blood while looking like that. Talk about being subtle. That half lidded eye tells enough. Fai get a ro - oh you already did :D good :D
He always had a bit of slutty energy around him, but how did it come to this I have no idea since -
oh. I think i have an idea after all.
Kamui’s blood is responsible for Fai’s slutification! There’s no other - Fai signed up for slutty vampire divorce the moment he changed into a vamp!
He woke up felling sassy and divorcey; them slutty vamp vibes be doing him good. For mental health purposes I’m not including “good morning Kurogane” panel. Seeing it once in lifetime is enough.
Fai lying with sus face and slutty black turtleneck; and Kamui’s genes. Fai makes such obvious lying face that mostly consists of either half-lidded eyes + flat smile combo or plastic grin + closed eyes combo (like in that cursed panel).
So basically this one panel set Fai’s slutification in motion:
Y’all just know it wouldn’t have been the same if he was given Subaru’s blood instead. Fai would half angst and half serve wet sad sad kitten looks; with Kamui’s blood he half angst and half serves slutty stubborn kitten looks. Infinity arc wouldn’t be nowhere near BDSM as it was. Because:
Yes Syaoran, there’s something not normal about him. It’s the succubus slutty vamp vibes. Also it’s the same slutty black turtleneck Fai has later on; clear as day whose vibes he picked up along genes.
But Kamui went a step further and:
What is that leg garter?? What purpose does it serve boy?? Looks? Being sexy? Do I even wanna know?
Canon facts that he’s the slutfier:
1) that one pic with Fai. It’s one of sluttiest official arts of Fai and Kamui contributed to it at least 80%; rest of 20% are Fai’s natural ho genes.
2) This twincest vibes:
Sluttiest pic of trc!Subaru we have (maybe even tb/x!Subaru?) and it’s with Kamui. Plus them earrings. Coincidence - maybe but? It’s all Kamui’s vibes and he’s rubbing of on his not nearly innocent as he seems but still naive brother.
3) No thoughts, just whatever they have going on:
Fuuma’s expression seems so tender here... and horny. He’s only like this around Kamui so? Also on unrelated note, how did Kamui feed for 3 years in acid Tokyo? Did he bite random people or maybe slashed enemies during fights or maybe - alright, sin stops here. Moving on.
So yea... it’s all in Kamui’s genes, no wonder Fai became a whore along with vampire :D I want main crew to meet with twins in TRC and have Fai thank Kamui for passing on his sassy genes :D Kurogane both suffered and benefited from those genes so he’d probably be conflicted about entire thing
Bonus:
TW: Seishirou
Bastard rectangle priest with vampire fetish is giving Fai vibe check here: if he attacks and Fai yields - it’s Subaru’s blood (oh would he be mad as high hell, i’d pay to see it 👀🍿). If Fai retorts back - it has to be Kamui’s. Since Fai took defensive stance instead of dropping to his knees, bastard man safely concluded it is Kamui’s blood.
So to bring conclusion to this senseless 300% serious brainrot:
#eyepatch makes him even more slutty#twink blond wizard pirate vampire with eyepatch trauma trust issues and blue/gold eyes and slutty vibes#what's not to like#my 300% serious analysis#fai d flourite#kurofai#sort of#kamui shirou#tsubasa chronicle#clamp

Last angst prompt: The Gang meets alt KuroParents who either could never have children or who lost little!Kuro at a young age and they open the home to the fam who accepts because whatever reasons and Kurogane has an uncharacteristically dark thought of "maybe I'm never meant to have a life with my parents".
sorry as always this took so long :')
Fai should have known. Of course that was his mother—they had the same gentle eyes and loving smile. And when his father turned the corner, well, that got rid of any doubt. The resemblance was almost shocking, though his father’s bright smile allowed them to easily tell the two apart. And once they saw their son, they would not let them go without inviting them for dinner.
Kurogane sat on the couch between his parents, who asked many questions that Syaoran and Fai ended up mostly answering. They were not at all shocked by the revelation of other worlds; in fact, his mother said that she had always known that other worlds existed, as well as other versions of her son.
“It was what brought me the most comfort,” She said, voice soft. “When we lost our little boy.”
The room fell into silence. It was then, and how he did not notice immediately before would elude him for a lifetime, that Fai saw that the photos in the living room of their son did not progress past a young age, perhaps only seven. He tried to meet Kurogane’s eyes, but they were downcast.
“I should get dinner started,” His mother said with a sad smile. She patted Kurogane’s leg. “Why don’t you help me?”
Always a mama’s boy, Kurogane followed without argument. After they disappeared into the kitchen, leaving just Syaoran, Fai, Mokona, and Kurogane’s father, the room was once again uncomfortably silent for a long moment.
“It was an illness,” Kurogane’s father said eventually, his signature smile missing. “Nothing we could have done. We know that, but…”
“I’m so sorry,” Syaoran said while lowering his head. Fai nodded, unable to speak at the moment.
“But,” His father continued. “This is nice. We’d always hoped that maybe, somehow, we’d get to see how our boy would grow up. Who would’ve thought he’d be even taller than me!”
He laughed a resonant, booming laugh that was tinged with melancholy. Fai gave him a grateful smile. “You raised him well,” The mage said. “In every world.”
His father nodded, his laughter dying away with a sigh. “That’s good to hear. It really is.”
But, of course, it was impossible to miss the look of longing in his eyes, so much like Kurogane’s if not for the age lines at the corners. Even if it were the same soul, their son, no other version of Kurogane would ever quite be the same as the one they lost.
Kurogane’s parents listened to their story of the journey, his mother worrying over Kurogane’s arm when she learned it was a prosthetic and his father admiring Ginryuu. Kurogane began relaxing as the night went on, the shock of seeing the two most important people in his life slowly wearing off and allowing him to fully enjoy it. Fai even got to see where he got his habit of ruffling Syaoran’s hair when his father did the same thing to him.
His parents insisted they stay with them rather than spend money on a hotel, so Syaoran and Mokona were set up on the couch with a pile of blankets and pillows while Kurogane and Fai were given the guest bedroom.
Fai stepped out of the bathroom after a quick wash and jumped when he saw Kurogane standing in the hall. He was staring at a closed door at the end of the hall. That was his room, his parents had said. It still had all of his old things. They didn’t go in there anymore.
Fai put a hand on Kurogane’s arm and led him back into the guest room. “This must be a lot,” Fai said as he sat Kurogane down on the bed. “You should rest.”
Kurogane nodded, but he didn’t lie down. He sat, elbows on his knees, staring at his clasped hands. “It’s nice,” He said. “Seeing them again.”
Fai sat beside him, slipped an arm over his shoulders and leaned in close with a smile. “It was wonderful finally being able to meet them. Your mother is even more beautiful than I thought.”
Kurogane nodded, but he wore the same expression that Fai had seen on his father just a few hours prior. That look of intense longing, regret, and sadness. Fai squeezed Kurogane’s shoulder.
“Kuro-sama… What’s wrong?” He asked quietly. “I know it is probably… difficult to see them again, but…”
Kurogane shook his head. “That’s just it—it’s not. I mean, maybe at first, it surprised me a bit. But seeing them has been… nice. They’re exactly the same as I remember them.”
“Then what is it?” Fai asked him.
Kurogane sighed, his head hanging a bit. “...Just can’t help but wonder if I’m just not meant to live a life with them. In any world.”
Fai’s heart cracked in his chest. “Oh, Kuro-sama…”
“I mean, the one time I finally get to meet another version of them,” Kurogane continued. “Only this time, their son died instead of them.”
“Kuro-sama, listen to me,” Fai said with a gentle but firm voice. “There are so, so many worlds out there. More than we can ever count, and more than we’ll probably ever be able to travel to in our lifetimes. And I promise you, there are worlds where you and your parents live happily and peacefully, together.”
Kurogane lifted his eyes to look at Fai and nodded. “Yeah. Yeah, I know. It’s just…”
Fai smiled sympathetically. “I know. Sometimes, it’s hard not to think the worst.”
Kurogane lowered his eyes again somberly. “...Mother likes you, you know. She told me when we were preparing dinner.”
“You always said she would,” Fai told him while leaning some of his body weight into Kurogane.
That got a smile out of Kurogane, even if it was fragile and shaky. “Yeah. Yeah, I did.”
“And hey,” Fai continued. “With all of those infinite worlds, I’m sure that there is one where all four of us get to be a happy family together. And I bet your father and I tease you relentlessly.”
Kurogane snorted. “Yeah, you’re probably right.”
Fai rubbed Kurogane’s back comfortingly. “Come on. Let’s go to bed.”
Kurogane nodded and allowed Fai to dote on him, to lie him down and tuck him in and then lie beside him and wrap him up in his arms. It was nice, Kurogane thought as he leaned into Fai’s body heat.
The thought never fully went away though. As he drifted off, he longed for the day he could see his family, happy and together.

Relax, my baby boy
Hephaestus' underground lab was bustling with many things that day, mostly by finishing with the cleaning of the place, normally Talos was the only one who helped Hephaestus with the cleaning and maintenance of the lab, but for delayed updates in his system, he was put in a intensive updating session leaving him indisposed by the moment, leaving his creator with the responsibility of tidy up the place, fortunately, Jutaro was there to help with that matter.
Hephaestus was putting order to some spare parts while his lover/mother was accomodating some tools in a storage inside the lab, that was the last thing to do to finish with the cleaning of the place.
- M-Mama?...- Hephaestus asked to the summoner in a shy way, feeling a little awkward to himself.
- yes, is there something wrong?- the young man replied to the olympian wanting to know what he wanted to say.
- No, it's nothing...sorry for disturb you...-the crafter told him with shame, retaining what he wanted to say because of his shyness.
-no, it's ok, tell me what you wanted to say- Jutaro responded him with insistence to know.
- w-well.....I wanted to tell you I'm sorry for making you h-help me with the cleaning today, i-it supposed to be a normal visit like other times, but you ended helping me because Talos couldn't do it right now a-and...- he was keep going until he's silenced by Jutaro's index finger placed over his lips.
-Don't worry about it...you always make many things for me, and in some way, I must do things for you to make it fair to you too because I care for you as you care for me...but now...is there anything else left to do?- the summoner asked, Hephaestus stayed silent for some minutes before answer.
-I think it's all, I guess...- the crafter responded, Jutaro sighs with relief and drops his body in a sofa to rest while Hephaestus serves some iced tea.
-Heph?- the young man asks to the transient.
- Y-yes, Mama?- the olympian replied with insecurity, he watches how Jutaro is patting his thights to come to rest his head in his lap.
- B-but Mama! I can't! I would dirt you with my filthy hair!- Hephaestus exclamated embarrassed, but the summoner was insisting.
-please, just come here, please?- Jutaro was making sad puppy eyes to make Hephaestus come with him, Hephaestus couldn't do anything against those eyes, he surrenders and lies his large body in the sofa with his head in his lover's lap in a stiff way and blushing.
Jutaro then puts his hand in Hephaestus' head and pats it in a caring way, noticing how soft and silky was Hephaestus' hair and playing with his curl, the crafter started to relax his body and enjoying the headpats, his hands clinched in fists are loosening to rest them in the abs intertwining his fingers.
-Can I ask you something?- the summoner asked him suddenly, Hephaestus surprises a little.
-What you wanna ask me?- the olympian was confused by that question
-why you always says things like you're trash or you're filthy when you are close to me?- the crafter shocks but decides to answer directly.
- B-because after I remembered those past time loops, I noticed many of the weapons that killed you were made by me...and I feel I'm unworthy of receive your love Mama...I feel guilty for made those...wretched things...I blame myself for my talent and for killing you in one of the loops, I feel like a scum like the ones who killed you before...and...because of that I made Talos as my ideal self...but now even if my ideals changed...I still feel I'm not worthy of touching you...- Hephaestus was starting to cry, but his tears were stopped by the summoner's finger wiping out the drops from his golden eyes.
- let me tell you something...you don't have to feel bad for yourself about what happened...I forgive you from whatever happened before, because I know you're a noble, gentle, strong and brave man...don't blame your talent, because I know you can make cool things to help others too, and...I will be there when you need me...besides, I prefer you as my ideal man than Talos...don't get upset, I love Talos too, but in a different way...like...our son, if I may say it-
Hephaestus was surprised and confused by those words, but he felt joy afterwards.
-really Mama? you mean it?- Hephaestus asked him to confirm those words from Jutaro.
-really, from heart- Jutaro smiles at him, and Hephaestus chuckles a little, but asks him again.
-you really mean it, I'm your ideal man? even if I'm...well...distorted?- Hephaestus bumps his index fingertips expecting more answers in a coy manner.
-you're not distorted, you're unique...interesting...outstanding...attractive...very attractive...to me...- Jutaro starts to blush saying those words to him.
-even if I don't have legs like everybody else?- Hephaestus asks again
-about that, when I met you, I was shocked when you showed me your prosthetic legs, but now, I can't imagine you without them, and being honest...your robotic legs are very cool- Jutaro responds and this shocks the crafter.
-WHAT?-
-I know, I really think you're legs are amazing, I mean, looks like they're from a comic book and in any moment you will make a heroic feat using them- Jutaro told him what he had in mind
-Umm....I don't know what to say about that, no one ever told me those kind of things before, except when Kurogane gets in his curious mode...- Hephaestus is confused.
-If I can ask you......are your prosthetic legs a sacred artifact, and why don't you use the same material you used in Talos' skin to make them look more natural?- the summoner asked him about the nature of his legs.
- my legs are almost a sacred artifact...both have dark matter but doesn't have a rule by themselves, instead they work as an enhancement of my original rule, and about the false skin...my inner fire burns it because it considers it an impurity in myself and its very hard to produce it because it needs a lot of delicate materials, for that reason I don't use the false skin, but I still feel them like if were my real legs. -
-you mean, feel like tiredness and pain in your feet?- Jutaro was getting curious about it.
- y-yes, things like that...-
-Can I...touch them?- Jutaro makes a last question, asking him to let him touch his robotic legs.
-w-what?! a-are you sure you want that?! you could get dirty!- Hephaestus tried to make him change his opinion, but Jutaro changed from seat to Hephaestus' feet, the crafter was getting nervous and blushing, he tried to reason with him, but the summoner was already touching and caressing Hephaestus' legs, even if were made of metal, the legs were warm and smooth to touch, shining in black metal with the lab's lamps and seeing the bright lines were the joints are, shining with a golden light.
-sorry...I got excited...but anyways, can you feel my hands?- Jutaro apologizes to him while he keeps caressing from calf and shin.
-yes...y-your hands are so warm...like when I was a child- Hephaestus answered whimpering and moaning with joy and shame blushing even more, then, Jutaro takes off Hephaestus' shoes from his feet and makes him a foot massage, Hephaestus gets more excited and bites his lip, Jutaro keeps going and massages between toes, the metallic toes are wiggling indicating Hephaestus was enjoying it.
-How does it feel, it doesn't hurt you?- Jutaro asks him while he keeps with the massage.
-I-it feels good! Mama...Mommy...I...!-
-Shh, relax, my baby boy, Mama likes it too- Jutaro kisses Hephaestus' feet, because of the emotional charge, Hephaestus gets sleep with a smile in his face, Jutaro smiles too and lies his body alongside with him resting his head in his pecs, Hephaestus embraces the summoner unconsciously with his strong arms.
Jutaro then kisses him tenderly in his cheek and lips and embraces the large transient.
-sweet dreams, I will always be there for you too, my sweet prince-
both were sleeping in the sofa, not knowing Talos watched all their chat in silence smiling to them.
-I knew the ideal thing was not interrupting them, well, if Papa and Mama are sleeping now, so do I, that update left me groggy afterwards...-
Talos shuts down himself keeping the smile in his face knowing his family was happy and safe for now.

do you have shounen recs too? other than naruto and fma lol
naruto and fma are like decade long infections that have refused to leave me djdbkdn but yes, i do! i’ll apply the same logic here as i did in the other post where i include some seinen too bc ultimately the distinction is just an age demographic
sket dance (manga) - this is one of my favorite manga of all time! it centers on a group of three friends—bossun, himeko, and switch—who start a student support group at their high school for anyone to come to with their everyday problems. the clientele and their problems are varied in a pretty humorous way, and in the beginning it almost feels like the series is set up to be purely comedic, but as you get further into the series you learn just why the main characters started the club, which is the winning point for me. these characters are so fleshed out and so much of their individual trauma gives insight as to why they’re intent to help and befriend others, especially on bossun’s part. he is probably one of my favorite shounen protagonists period. his character propagates a really wonderful message of how people don’t need to be fixed in order to solve their problems, just listened to and supported, and i adore the series for its exploration of that concept. the mangaka was also an assistant to sorachi on gintama, so i think fans of gintama will rly enjoy it in the sense that both series share similar values, messages, and humor! there’s a few crossovers between the two, iirc. also! i don’t particularly mind the anime and it has a banger soundtrack but just imo the emotional beats hit harder in the manga
silver spoon (anime/manga) - this is the series hiromu arakawa wrote after finishing fma, and i would actually argue that it’s her better work of the two! it centers on a boy named hachiken, who spontaneously decides to enroll at an agricultural high school to get away from his stressful family life in the city, and obviously, it’s a huge reality check for him. he’s dropped into this school where every other student has farming-related ambitions in the long run, while he has no ambitions at all and simply used enrollment as an excuse to get away from his problems. the series is a masterclass in learning about the worth in hard work, camaraderie, and why thinking about your future and what you want to do matters, not just from a practical aspect but also in terms of self fulfillment. as expected of arakawa, it boasts endearing humor, a wonderful array of distinct characters, and a really fleshed out portrayal of farm life, made even more enjoyable and genuine by the fact that she’s writing in her element, as she grew up on a farm herself
tsubasa reservoir chronicle (manga) - this is a cult classic within clamp circles, but outside of that fandom it’s more known as the intimidating clamp series most ppl wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole. and i get that! the fact that it crosses over with some other clamp series makes it pretty confusing to parse through at times. but i also think that’s the series’ greatest strength, bc when you understand the nature of that crossover, the depth of the storytelling is truly brilliant! at its most basic, trc follows a pair of childhood friends, syaoran and sakura, who live in a desert-like “clow country”. sakura walks into some ruins one day and is spontaneously robbed of all of her memories, which syaoran must then journey across multiple dimensions to recapture, as her memories have been scattered in the form of feathers. the pair also have three traveling companions—kurogane, fai, and mokona—and altogether the group visits multiple dimensions that are loosely inspired by clamp’s other series and characters. obv, as the plot progresses, we discover there’s more to the group’s mission than meets the eye, and it ventures into pretty dark, existential territory, as is the norm for clamp. it also may be unpopular of me to say this, but i actually think it’s a great introduction to clamp (it was mine lol), given there’s so many cameos from their previous series and the series sets up such interesting lore. just be warned that you do have to think while reading this series, as the lore is intense! also, do not watch the anime. at all. it’s the worst adaptation ever
ookiku furikabutte (anime/manga) - popularly called oofuri, this series is in my opinion one of the best sports manga published in the last two decades. it follows a boy named mihashi, a baseball pitcher who refuses to give up the mound and essentially alienates himself from his middle school teammates in the process bc they don’t know how to actually utilize his pitches. he enters high school as a total nervous wreck with little to no confidence in himself bc of this experience, until the catcher, abe, recognizes that he’s actually a really unique pitcher unrecognized for his talents by his old teammates. abe and mihashi basically latch onto each other, with abe believing he can mold mihashi into the best pitcher there is, and mihashi believing abe is the one person capable of making him into a good pitcher. it’s a fascinating take on codependency and building up your self esteem, and i would argue that higuchi asa’s sports psychology background lends itself splendidly to the messages oofuri sends about how to build healthy sportsmanship among teenage boys. overall i think it’s a great series to read if you’re looking for catharsis and comfort, as well as baseball lore!
gangsta. (manga) - this series is the most dark and complicated of the works in this list, just as an advisory. there’s prostitution, gang violence, gore, etc etc. but for the presence of all of that, gangsta. is probably one of the most well rounded series i have read in the last few years. it starts with alex benedetto, a prostitute who ends up as the sole survivor of a mass gang murder propagated by two thugs for hire, worick and nic. the two men take her under their wing as a friend and someone who answers their phone, and the three of them form a unique but really loving partnership with each other. the plot eventually extends into a turf war that plagues the town they live in, ergastulum, on account of a drug trade that allows for the breeding of “twilights”, who are essentially drug enhanced superhumans. it’s hard to explain much more without giving away spoilers, but the series has an incredibly diverse cast, in terms of race, disability, and sexuality, and it manages to tackle really dark subject matter without coming off as too edgy or tragedy porn-seque. the artwork is also absolutely gorgeous and the relationships among various characters are portrayed with such amazing nuance, that i can’t even complain when plot points make me sad beyond belief
this is what i have for now but i may add onto it later! do let me know if you enjoy any of these ❤️
#sket dance#gin no saji#tsubasa reservoir chronicle#oofuri#gangsta.#these are fun to do! i also feel like i rambled so much more here omg#mine:recs

we're all made of glitter and nightmares (and baby, we thrive)
Tsubasa Chronicle Month 2023
- Day 16: ANGST
~
“Kuro-sama, even you have to admit, I don’t exactly fit in,” Fai says, tired and frustrated and resigned, though most of all, just unbelievably sad.
He hadn’t expected, when they’d decided to live out the rest of their lives together in Nihon, that there would be any sort of pushback. Princess Tomoyo and her sister, the Empress, have both welcomed him with open arms, and Souma’s his weekly drinking (and gossip) buddy; and their first visit had gone smoothly enough (not taking into account the part where Kurogane had been unconscious for days, Sakura, too, and Seishirou’s sudden appearance and everything that followed that) with the other residents of Shirasagi Castle.
But maybe he has been too naive.
Because Fai knows, it’s one thing to accept visitors that you know will leave one day, but it’s another completely to accept strangers in your everyday life. And Fai’s a stranger to the people of Nihon, from his looks to his magic, to the accented way he speaks (now that he’s learned the language) and his still growing understanding of the culture of his new home.
At first it was okay. No one said anything, even as every pair of eyes followed him everywhere he went in curiosity.
But curiosity has turned to suspicion and, in some notable cases, resentment and hostility. People tend to lash out when things are different than what they’re used to, when they think something, no matter how small or insignificant (though Fai is neither small nor insignificant) threatens their way of life.
And Fai sees the way it all weighs down on his lover, sees the way the whispers and the pointed barbs are slowly but surely starting to take their toll. (Nobody says anything to him, but even Tomoyo’s smile grows dimmer when Shirasagi’s courtiers start mumbling.)
“So what? You actually think I give a shit about what any of those bastards think or say?” Kurogane asks, looking at him with an incredulous look on his face. “They can all hang, for all I care.”
“I don’t care, either,” Fai says, sighing and shaking his head before meeting Kurogane’s gaze again. “What I do care about is the effect their words have on those I love. You, the princess, the empress, Souma. I don’t want to cause any more discord…”
Kurogane slams down the empty sake cup he’s been holding since they’ve started this conversation. “So, you’re just gonna, what? Leave? Just like that? Run away again?” And that’s a low blow, and Kurogane knows it, but when Fai inhales sharply, eyes widening in shock, he doesn’t back down. Damn him. “Tell me, mage.”
Fai’s frustration turns white-hot, and he can feel his eyes starting to burn a bit. “You think I want to? Kuro-sama, this is my home, this is where I thought I could be at peace.” He stands up, wraps his arms around himself, and walks to the open door to their small, secluded garden. “But how can I be, when my very presence here causes pain to those I hold dear?”
(How can I, when even now I seem to bring misfortune to those around me?)

if you want to complain more about clamp I am listening :) as someone who owns many volumes of the manga in multiple languages...... I am listening. <3
okay i’m just gonna rant in a very, very long post everyone please just avert your eyes mental illness is happening
but like....... as someone who was nostalgically reading these manga to bring back some happy memories i had as a kid, discovering that these series (ccs which i remembere dfondly despite not having actually watched/read as a kid, and trc and xxxholic which i read with some of my best friends at the time) are not just deeply flawed but harbouring so much like... frankly heinous shit in them is like??? deeply hurtful to me???
and like... i could handle cardcaptor sakura being full of evil shit because i had no deep personal connection, i just wanted to better understand ccs references in tsubasa and lik better appreciate syaoran and sakura and like its 90s shoujo OVER COURSE ITS FUCKED UP! just like sailor moon and fruits basket like it’s not good but like... i can process it
trc hurts me because like... the character writing for kurogane and fai is fucking PHENOMENAL, the concept is cool and interesting and unique, it (for the most part) has great themes and the way it explores concepts like grief, trauma, sacrifice, and healing was a balm to my quarantined soul
but you can tell where they realized they literally... did not know how to resolve their plot? and it got so complicated it legit gave me headaches but at least i had kurogane nad fai and then they’re shoved to the side just for it to be revealed that syaoran... is syaoran and sakura’s son... looking to meet up with sakura... to be with her... so they can be his parents
like... wow so great to watch this beautiful relationship be explored with kurogane and fai saving each otehr from the worst part of themselves just to be sidelined for “what if those fourth graders from cardcaptor sakura where husband and wife AND mother and son but like NOT REALLY becaues syaoran is also syaoran’s own dad so is it incest or just really confusing” but no it’s both like legit when falling in love with sakura he comments on how she’s just like his mom like hello bitch? you’re 14 but i’ll still kill you that shit is WEIRD
so that wAS NOT GREAT and then it ends with THE GROUP SEPARATED AT THE END?? SO I COULDN’T EVEN GET A HAPPY ENDING like yeah maybe it’s good sakura and syaoran were separated but kurogane and fai got to stay together beacuse... fuck the incest but like... where is my catharsis where is my happiness??
and i’m rereading xxxholic which was my favorite of trc/xxxholic as a kid and... first off, it’s boring, secondly, it thinks it’s smarter than it is an dhas contradicting themes every other chapter, but FUCK it’s so interesting but doumeki, himawari, watauniki, and yuuko don’t have half the bonds as the TRC gang and like... i still don’t know why doumeki was going so fucking hard for watanuki
but the concepts were interesting enoguh and watching watanuki grow was nice
but you can ALSO tell AGAIN clamp just got bored and didn’t know how to wrpa it up so suddenly watanuki gives up ALL HIS BONDS AND HURTS ALL HIS FRIENDS just to be reunited with yuuko??? despite the themes of the story being about how self sacrifice causes scars on others?? and that’s BAD like if you love your frieneds you don’t hurt them by undervaluing yourself??? THATS A BASIC THEME OFT HE STORY
and then they rush to pair off doumeki with a girl THEY HELPED RAISE so he can have children to stay with watanuki... himawari is written off despite her last interactions with watanuki being about them caring for each other anad choosing to stay in contact despite her curse... and like yuuko’‘s entire character is never explained she’s just like “i’m a woman who exists as a vehicle of plot in both TRC and xxxholic i will never be given depth beyond that... well also i’ll ruin watanuki’s life”
and hen the last chapters are just watching everyone grow up while watanuki is alone, never aging, helping grant wishes where he watches other immortal beings suffer and lose everyone, and it just ends with him relizing he likely won’t ever see yuuko again but he’ll keep waiting?? even though it’s been 100 yers and everyone he loves is dead??
and that shit is not good for my mental health like i feel like i have been isolated fo ra hundred years beacuse of covid watching watanuki choose it hurt edeply
like half the manga is about syaoran and sakura begging him not to vanish (also that plotline was WEIRDLY dropped) and the series ends with him effectively... vanishing a sa person and just becoming shopkeeper
how fucking depressing??
i could handle a sad ending if it had value. if it said something. if it didn’t have doumeki marrying a girl he knew since she was an abused elementary schooler while he was like 17. ESPECiALLY when IN THE PANELS REVEALING IT it weren’t like “atcually neither of them love each other they love watanuki but it’s fine” like HUH????????? FOR WHY
and ive really had to grasp the reason why there’s so much fucked up shit (incest, pedophilia) in those series is core to CLAMP’s messages accross all their mangas about soulmates nad how about love can triumph over everything
and like using such a PURE message to be like “if an adult is in love with a child and they’re soulmates, it’s to be” is so fucking evil
like they’ll tip toe around kurogane and fai, yukito and touya, doumeki and watanuki, and all the gaybait that i KNOW is in their other series because i’ve grown up seeing shit like tokyo babylon and legal drug and all their other dropped manga
because gay peopl ebeing soulmates is a wink and a nod
but ADULTS WITH CHILDREN THEY ARE IN CHARGE OF??? MOTHER AND SON MAYBE??? oh that’s fine they’re REAL soulmates who will go against TIME AND DIMENSION MAGIC ITSELF to be in love
like...............................
gay people are second class characters compared to pedos and incest... does it get worse than that? like besides emotionally destroyed by the sad endings, i get that shit too?
it hurts on a deeper level like feels like a betrayal and i’m kind of really sad i revisited something i enjoyed so much as a kid (even when i didn’t understand wtf was going on, because i was literally reading it at the same time my friend was and rushing) andd discovered this like... deep rot inside it
i could have continued to remember it fondly but now it’s just like... reaching the last bite of cake and being told it was made with maggots like... well i already ate it all...
there’s no point reading clear card or the unfinished tsubasa/xxxholic sequels because they’ve already ruined themselves like they can’t fix it
kurogane and fai still won’t be allowed to be together. watanuki still outlived everyone who ever loved him for a mother figure that can never come back. cardcaptor wrote off the fourth grader engaged to hre teacher but like... sakura’s dad is still a preadator
like... what do i do with these left over feelings then?
i’ll be over it in a dya but like for tonight i really do feel unwell
okay thank you i got it out in one post i am processing the feelings
i am gonna cry about watanuki being alone tho

► * ( RAINY DAY SENTENCE STARTERS ) – NO LONGER ACCEPTING
@seres said:
↪ “Here, this should warm you up.”
He regards the tea handed to him with a simple grunt; calloused hands rising to meet Fai’s and take what was given to him. Though Kurogane hadn’t asked for the drink, the heat radiating from the ceramic cup was a welcome feeling against his fingers; only now recovering from his sudden bout with an unwelcome storm.
Of course, just because he was coming to see the mage, something like this had to happen to him. Despite wearing his cloak, he still appeared at the blonde’s door sopping wet; eagerly met with laughter and teasing of how he looked like a sad little dog caught in the rain. Aggravating as it was however, Kurogane found himself staying in Fai’s temporary home (after telling him to shut up more than once), now sitting on his couch with a towel draped over his slow drying hair. He let out a gentle breath against the surface of his tea in an attempt to cool it, bringing it to his lips to take a drink-- when suddenly, he felt something soft cover his shoulders from behind.
Turning his head, Kurogane caught Fai just as he set a blanket over top of him, that same smile he wore ever present against his features-- though there was something he couldn’t quite hide shining in the corners of his gaze as their eyes met. To the untrained eye, the momentary flash of concern would go unnoticed; but it was clear as day to Kurogane, along with everything else the mage always thought he could get away with.
“Quit your worryin’, it’s not like I’m gonna get sick. A little rain never killed anyone anyway,” as if disregarding it entirely, the ninja shifted his body forward again, rotating the cup in his hands once, then twice as he watched the liquid inside it ripple. Though as he remained silent for a moment longer than intended, brow furrowing in sight away from Fai’s, Kurogane allowed himself a sigh before he spoke again; a mumble so quiet against his outtake of breath, it could almost go unheard.
“... thanks.”

TCM Day 18: High Seas
The merpeople had been following their ship for three days now. Syaoran didn’t know how many there were. He had only managed to get a good look at two of them. One was a young mermaid with a long pink tail with frilly translucent fins, and she had the greenest eyes he had ever seen. She liked to swim up to the side of the boat and pull herself up to watch him work. She never spoke - Syaoran wasn’t sure if she could speak, and whenever he said anything to her she would squeak and dive back beneath the waves. He was always sad to see her go, certain that this time she would leave for good, but she was always back to watch him the next morning.
The other was older and male. His tail was longer, and his fins more delicate. His scales were mixed blue and silver that caught the light with an almost metallic gleam. Most often he was seen playing in the wake of the ship, but sometimes he would come up to the side like the girl did.
Syaoran wished he wouldn’t, though, because whenever the merman came up he would inevitably bother the captain.
Like right now.
Syaoran was sitting at the side of the ship with his legs dangling down, showing the mermaid his compass. She appeared fascinated, and kept pointing at the needles as they moved on their own. Syaoran was trying to explain it to her when there was a bellow from the other side of the small vessel. Syaoran and the mermaid both started, and she quickly disappeared beneath the water. Syaoran turned.
“Captain, is there a problem?” he asked, getting to his feet.
Captain Kurogane was dripping water, and there was murder in his eyes. “That blasted fish,” he growled through clenched teeth. He seized a broom and stabbed it into the water, and the telltale gleam of silvery scales could be made out beneath the water as the blond merman dodged it.
His laughing face surfaced just out of Kurogane’s reach. He had big eyes of unearthly blue. He splashed his tail at Kurogane. It hit the surface of the water with a wet slap, and sent a dollop of water straight into Kurogane’s face.
“I’ll get you a towel,” Syaoran said and retreated below deck before Kurogane could fly into a rage. Even with a layer of wood between them, Syaoran could hear Kurogane’s angry shouts and the sound of him attempting to stab the merman with the broom.
The water fight had not stopped by the time Syaoran returned with a towel for the captain. He held it out to Kurogane, who waved it off. “Save it. I’m gonna catch that damn fish,” he said. For a terrifying moment Syaoran thought the big man was going to fling himself off the side of the boat to wrestle with a merman, but he continued slapping the water where the silver-blue scales could be seen, until the merman got bored and disappeared.
This happened every day that the merpeople followed them, often multiple times. Sometimes it was the mermaid who drew her friend away, and neither of them ever appeared at night. Syaoran would have thought there were only the two of them, but sometimes when the merman would tease Kurogane, he would see the same glittering scales somewhere else in the water. It was never close enough for him to see who or what it belonged to, and whether it was another merperson or a regular fish. And sometimes, when they passed distant rocks, he would see multiple long, graceful bodies sunning themselves on the rocks. He knew the girl was there, because her pink tail was unlike any other sea creature in these parts. The other shapes he couldn’t make out. It could be other merpeople, but it could just as easily be seals or seal lions.
Sometimes he asked Kurogane if he could see better, but Kurogane would only grunt and say he didn’t care about any stupid fish. Shougo would go to find his binoculars, but the time he got back the merpeople would have slipped back into the water.
The weather grew colder as they made the transition from autumn to winter. One morning the girl peeked up while Syaoran was cleaning. “Hello,” he said, smiling at her as he always did.
As usual, the girl didn’t speak, but she held out a pretty pink shell to him. “Oh, that’s lovely,” Syaoran said to her, thinking that she wanted him to admire it.
She shook the shell slightly, staring at him. “Hm?” He didn’t understand.
She placed the shell on the deck, as far forward as she could reach. Then she retracted her arm and looked back up at him.
“Oh. It’s for me?” Syaoran asked.
The mermaid smiled. It was cute, even with her sharp teeth, so unlike a human's. Syaoran came over and picked up the shell. It was smooth on the inside, with little bumps and ridges on the outside, and mixed shades of pink, peach, and white. “Thank you. I’ll treasure it,” he told her.
The girl looked happy. Then she vanished beneath the waves. Syaoran didn’t think anything of it, until she didn’t reappear the next day.
Her blond friend did, to give Kurogane a splash and a kiss on the cheek that made Kurogane blush and sputter with shock. The merman grinned, then he too vanished.
Syaoran often caught himself pausing in his work to stare at the surface of the water, looking for his friend. And while Kurogane pretended not to worry, Syaoran saw how his captain’s head would snap up every time something splashed in the water. When it turned out to be a dolphin or a fish, he always looked disappointed and annoyed.
By the time spring came, they had both stopped looking. Until one morning when Syaoran went to dump a bucket of waste water over the side, and found familiar green eyes staring up at him.
Syaoran was so startled he nearly dropped the bucket, but the girl beamed and heaved herself out of the water to trill at him. “Oh, you’re back,” he said, smiling. “I was worried.”
She flicked her tail happily, and touched the hollow of her throat. Syaoran mimicked the gesture, and felt the smooth shell he had strung on a leather cord and hung there. “Yeah, of course I kept it. You gave it to me,” he told her.
She blushed and ducked under the water until only the top half of her head was poking out, as though shy.
“I have something for you, too,” Syaoran said. He dug around in his pocket and pulled out a bracelet of sea glass. He hoped it would fare well under the sea. He held it out to her. “For you. It goes on your... here,” he draped the bracelet over his opposite arm to show her.
She hauled herself back up the side and waved her arm at him. She was so excited that Syaoran had to grab her arm to hold it still long enough for her to clasp the bracelet around her wrist. Her skin was surprisingly cool, and slippery.
While she smiled and admired the bracelet, there was a great splash and a bellow from the other side of the ship.
“YOU GODDAMN ANNOYING FISH!”
But Kurogane didn’t sound as angry as usual.

Phantom Lord Girl — Water Lock
Three days had passed since the attack.
All the clues had finally led them to a warehouse located in a dark alley. The building itself was tall and lugubrious. The atmosphere was cold and dismal as he approached the building, it's windows either broken or closed off with wooden slats. The large doors were made of a heavy metal that were difficult to knock down, luckily, they'd already planned an entrance through other openings. Above the doors hung a white sign, large, black letters adorning it forming the words "Phantom Lord."
"Not very subtle, huh?" The Official Fullbuster mumbled sarcastically before sneaking off to the side of the building to access the basement. "Now's not the time to be sarcastic," His partner's voice rang in his hears through the communicator, "We have to make them pay for what they did to Levy and the others," Natsu all but growled the words, fury obvious in his voice.
They had been called in the early morning, ordered to report urgently at the station. Five criminals had slipped into the building at night. They had swiftly taken out the guards, and vandalized the building to the point where it was almost destroyed. They burned files, exploded the pipes flooding the corridors, lifted all the tiles on the first floor, and somehow blew up the roof on the station. That wasn't what pushed them to their limit, though, the state they found their comrades Jet, Droy, and Levy...that was what angered them to no limit. The three were unconscious when they found them. When they arrived and saw the blood trickling from their wounds down their necks as well as their hands and feet tied to the chairs...they erupted in fury. It was not difficult to guess who had perpetrated the attack. In an act of absolute arrogance, the criminals graffiti the walls with the name of the band "Phantom Lord", painted on the bodies of the officers the symbol of the gang and left a metal plaque that read "Kurogane was Here." Either they were stupid or they wanted to be found. It didn't matter, though, because they will have revenge for what was done to their comrades.
As Gray approached the building, adrenaline coursed through his body, his muscles tensed as his heart raced. It was a feeling that he enjoyed, being in action, catching criminals and doing justice. This mission was special because he had the responsibility to punish those who had dared to hurt his comrades. Gray felt the anger build in him as he thought of them. No one messes with the Magnolia Police. He would show no mercy with these criminals.
Gray approached the door only to be met with a lock, good thing they'd prepared for this. He quickly froze the lock, and broke in with a thud. The basement behind the door was dark, the only light coming from the alley through the open door. Gray wiped his forehead, humidity was present in this room, filling it with a penetrating smell. The officer covered his nose with a handkerchief, while keeping his other hand on guard. His blood rushed with anticipation; he was eager to meet one of the members of the band. The spacious underground room was filled with wooden boxes, some covered by sheets and gray with dust. Looking up, he noticed thick black pipes that ran the length of the roof...
"This humidity really sucks," He murmured to himself, annoyed by the sticky and deep steam that flooded the place as well as his body. "Humidity chases Juvia..." He heard a female voice and turned to see who it was, but there was no one behind him. "It's annoying and sticky," The voice continued. He looked back to the front as he heard the voice only to be met, again, by nothing. He noticed the monotonous and somewhat dull tone of the speaker, as if there was a great pain behind her words. "Nobody wants Juvia..." The voice trailed off, "Because the humidity is always with her..." "I'm Officer Fullbuster," He announced, looking for any hint of the woman, "All members of Phantom Lord are arrested for attacking officers inside the Station," "To arrest Juvia," The woman said, "You would have to catch her first, officer," She said, her monotone voice filling the silence in this basement. Was she making fun of him? He couldn't be sure, but judging by her voice she didn't seem to be kidding. "And to catch her, you would have to be able to see her." The voice said, taunting him as he looked every which way. "Get out now!" He shouted, his voice hoarse, already annoyed that he couldn't find her, "I'll handcuff you and you'll come with me to the station!" "Are you going to handcuff Juvia?" She said, hesitation filling her voice.
Gray heard this and could almost feel the embarrassment in her voice. Realizing how his previous statement sounded, he immediately felt ashamed at the possible implication. "That's not what I meant," He claimed, making his intentions clear. The humidity was getting deeper and Gray noticed how difficult it was to see once he was away from the source of light, almost completely encompassed in darkness. "I'll put the handcuffs on you," He said, once again clarifying what he said. The response he got was not one that he was hoping for. He heard a high squeal echo throughout the basement, "So bold!" "I'm going to arrest you! That's what I'm saying!" He exclaimed, his cheeks flushed with frustration and embarrassment. Having enough of this, he launched his ice attack to the front, watching as the cold transformed the humidity into fog, a whitish mantle rising from the ground. "You're attacking Juvia," The voice claimed, "Then she-ahh!" Gray looked up just in time to see something falling from the ceiling. He stretched out his arms instinctively and caught her in time before she hit the ground. The low light of the basement let him see a glimpse of bluish long and curly hair...as well as the brightness of her widened eyes. "You saved Juvia..." She mumbled in shock, bringing her hands to her face, "You're like a knight," "A what?" He shook his head, "No. I'm a cop and you're under arrest," It was like his words didn't reach her, because without reason she clung to his neck in an effusive hug. "You're the knight Juvia has been waiting for," She said happily. "Hey," he said, feeling slightly uncomfortable with their current position, "I told you I came to arrest you," he untangled himself from her arms, "Now turn around so I can handcuff you and-," "Oh yes, handcuffs..." She trailed off, stretching her hands out to the front and allowed him to easily slip the handcuffs around her wrists.
By the light that came in from the outside, he could see her long, dark, leather jacket that covered a blue corset and a skirt of the same color, of a lighter fabric. When he looked up, he noticed how she was staring at him, her cheeks flushed a little as a smile graced her face. Gray didn't understand why she was looking at him like that, he scratched his neck behind his head, finally decided that he should take her to the patrol car. Then he would be able to help his partner capture the other members of Phantom Lord.
"Walk." He told her firmly, "You will come with me to the station," "Gray," a voice said in his hear that he identified immediately, "We need you to confirm your location," Lucy said to him, her voice ringing through the radio. He felt his prisoner tense in front of him, he could feel her body trembling. "I'm taking a suspect to the patrol car, Lucy," He told her, "Then I'll go back to help Natsu," "Ok," She responded, "Do you need any help with the suspect?" "No, I think-" he started, but before he could say anything else, the girl broke loose from his grip. The handcuffs fell to the ground, much to his shock, he wasn't sure what was happening. "Who is Lucy?" She asked, her voice no longer sounded monotonous or sad, nor did it have that sweetened lull from a moment ago. She seemed angry and annoyed, but why? So Gray did the smartest thing he could think of. "Huh?" He asked intelligently. "Is she...a Love Rival?" The girl asked almost threateningly, a dark aura surrounding her. With her hands at her sides, she summoned a torrent of water and shot it at Gray. He defended himself with an ice shield, though, right before it hit him. "What's going on?" He asked confused, "A moment ago you seemed willing to surrender!" "Juvia will not give herself to a liar like you!" She replied angrily. "Liar? What are you-" He started but was once again interrupted by another torrent of water that broke his shield and threw him against the boxes behind him. "Juvia will not forgive you!" She all but spat, she was furious and the officer had no idea why, "She will not forgive that Lucy either," She said, venom lacing her voice as she said the name. "Why are you mad at Lucy?!" He asked, beyond confused as to what was going on. "You defend her?!" She asked, her eyes blazing, "She is a Rival of Love!" She exclaimed before attacking again, causing Gray to hide behind a pile of boxes, trying to understand what was happening. Water started to accumulate on the ground as attacks followed one after the other, remains of boxes and objects floated around the place. The officer quickly looked for a spot from which to attack so he could immobilize his adversary. He frowned as he rested his hands on the surface of the liquid that covered the ground, concentrating on his ice, freezing the water throughout the basement except where he was hiding. The attacks stopped, finally allowing him to come out of hiding.
His scanned the area before his eyes focused on her. She was standing, completely frozen up her knees in ice, enclosing her long boots. He allowed himself to observe her a little more before quickly turning his eyes away. Despite her badass attire, she had a rounded, delicate face, her eyes were large and expressive, and her figure... The officer cleared his throat, trying to push those thoughts to the back of his mind. He wasn't supposed to be having these thoughts about his "suspect." It was not the time to think if she was cute, or if the way she inflated her cheeks in annoyance, trying to get away from the ice, was sweet or tender... "You can't escape anymore," He told her, "Do you give up?" He said as he held up his spare handcuffs, showing them to her, a smile of victory on his face. Her response was to look at him, and then blushed again. "Juvia..." She started then trailed off. "So your name is Juvia, huh?" He said as he approached her and placed the handcuffs on her wrists, feeling her gaze follow his movements, "I'm Officer Gray Fullbuster and you're under arrest for vandalism."

Despite the damage they caused, the members of Phantom Lord didn't have a severe punishment. The maximum penalty went to Gajeel Redfox, who pleaded guilty to beating officers on duty; as a sentence he would have to serve a month in prison and six months of community duties within the Station. The young gang member shouted in the corridors of the court that he preferred more jail time before working with a bunch of cops. The rest of the gang, though, received diverse penalties based off on the damage they caused. Juvia received the least of the punishments, having to remain only three days detained inside the station. Gray understood that flooding the corridors of the building was not a very serious offense, it seemed more mischief than a crime. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the fate of the girl with blue hair. She didn't seem like a bad person, but someone must have influenced her badly...maybe she didn't have any good friends that were there for her...
___________________________________________________________
Two days had passed since the mission.
It was also the second day of Juvia's arrest as well as the day Gray decided to visit her in her cell. He found her sitting on the prison cot, hugging her knees to her chest, her head on them watching the raindrops pound against the glass of the only window in the place. "Hey," He said awkwardly as he scratched his neck, unsure of what to say, "I'm sorry you have to be here," He said, attempting to start a conversation. She didn't say anything. She didn't even look at him. She just shrugged and continued staring out the window. But after a moment of silence, she did. "It doesn't matter," She said solemnly, "Juvia has nowhere else to go," "What do you mean?" Gray asked curiously. "Phantom Lord was disbanded," She said, finally turning to look at him, "That was her home," "Did you live there?" He asked and looked down, his hands holding the cold bars of the prison., "I'm sorry," "You are very kind, Gray-sama," She said, her eyes filled with warmth. "Gray-sama?" He was confused as to why she would give him such an endearment. "Juvia is glad she met you,"A small, sad smile made itself known on her face, "She always thought police officers were bad...then she met you," her blues eyes pierced his, "She was wrong," "How are we bad?" He asked, slightly offended, "We're here to take care of people." "Will you take care of Juvia, Gray-sama?". "It's part of my job, isn't it?" Before he could even comprehend what was happening, she jumped up and threw herself towards the bars. The sad expression from before completely gone, now replaced by an immense smile, her fingers brushing his as she clung to the fence, causing the officer to remove his hands in alarm. "Juvia will also take care of Gray-sama!" She exclaimed, her excitement contrasting her previous state. "I don't need you to take care of me," He growled, uncomfortable. Before more could be said a strange grunt rumbled in her cell. Juvia covered her stomach with her hands, her cheeks flushing as she looked down in embarrassment. "You didn't eat?" He asked, only for her to shake her head, "They didn't bring you anything?" He was slightly outraged. She didn't respond. "Those idiots," He groaned, "I'll be right back," He left to get her some food.
He felt strangely responsible for the girl. He was the one who arrested her, and it wasn't like he hadn't captured someone before, so why? He couldn't explain why all of a sudden he was so interested in a delinquent. His only obligation was to catch her and then turn her over to the justice, however, it was not a part of his job to worry about her let alone to take care of her meals or her general comfort. But Gray couldn't help feeling that the girl was out of place here. She didn't belong in here. The jail was no place for someone like her. She wasn’t evil. She didn't deserve to be behind bars.
Leaving the station, he made his way outside. The rain had diminished to a simple, copious drizzle. He walked a couple of blocks to find the food store and smiled when he noticed that it wasn't too crowded, so he would be able to get back quickly.
After getting Juvia some food, Gray returned to work with his torso wet from the drizzle. At some point, he had removed his uniform shirt (and who knows where he threw it). In one of his hands, he was carrying the bag of snacks he had chosen to share.
"Hey," Natsu said as Gray walked by, standing in front of him, looking at his bag curiously, "What's in there?" Gray rolled his eyes, his companion sniffed the air as if he were a dog. "Oh," Natsu’s eyes lighted up with excitement, "Did you buy Caramade Franks?" Dragneel showed his teeth in a smile that was way too wide. "It's not for you Flame Brain!" He answered annoyed, seeing how his partner's eyes shone with hunger fully focused on the bag. "You can't eat all of that alone, Ice Boy," Natsu said, smirking, "You don't have enough stomach." "Who said I was going to eat them on my own?" He retorted, and then made his way, deciding that he didn't want to discuss this matter with Natsu (or anyone else for that matter, he hoped he didn't cross any of his other partners on the way). However, much to his luck that wasn't the case. Cana was leaning against the bars, one of her typical side smiles planted on her face as she tipped a bottle of wine in front of the bars…
"C'mon," She said to the detained, "Have a drink with me. It must be horrible to be locked in there, don't you wanna drown your sorrows a little?" "Thanks, but Juvia does not drink alcohol," answered the muffled voice from the other side. Gray approached the girls, a frown adorning his face. "Hey, leave her alone Cana," He said, the brunette responding with an annoyed look. Then, being Cana she bounced right back, giving him a smile, "Oh Gray, you comin' to join the party?" "The only one partying here is you," He pointed out, "Why are you drinking so late anyway?" "Don't be so boring," She groaned, then took off from the cell and made her way down the hall from where he came, "For your information, tomorrow is my day off. I'm celebrating!" She said, throwing a cheeky smile over her shoulder before turning down the hall.
Once Cana was gone, the officer turned his attention to the girl inside the cell. The ex-Phantom Lord member looked at him with flushed cheeks, her eyes tinted with a glimmer of dreaminess. It was not the first time she had looked at him like that, and he could not help but feel somewhat uncomfortable when he noticed it
"Here," He said to Juvia, extending the bag with food in it, after taking out his part. "Gray-sama brought Juvia some food?" She asked hesitantly, her eyes shining with something Gray couldn't put his finger on. "The idiots who were guarding you were supposed to take care of that," Grabbing a chair to place it next to the cell, "I don't know what those imbeciles were thinking," He said, feeling frustrated with them. It wasn't until Gray looked up that he noticed she was still standing in her place, watching him surprised and bewildered, "What's wrong?" He asked curiously. "Are you going to eat with Juvia?" She asked, her eyes questioning. Gray thought it was obvious considering he was already opening the wrapper of his food when she asked him. "Well," He said, "Of course," "But..." Juvia started but the noise of her stomach roared once again, Gray looked at her with a sympathetic smile and nodded at the edge of the bed, which was next to the bars. "Let's eat. I think your stomach does not want to keep waiting," He said, his eyes amused. "Gray-sama...?" Juvia asked. "Mhmm," Gray responded. "Why are you shirtless?" She asked, a blush gracing her delicate cheeks.
___________________________________________________________
Gray forgot that it was his day off, but he remembered that this was the last day of Juvia's sentence. The officer wondered what the girl would do once she was free. Juvia told him that she was alone and had nowhere to go. She had not mentioned it, but Gray worried that she might end up in Phantom Lord or some other gang in the city again
She told him that the reason she joined the group led by Jose Porla was because they accepted her. That acceptance had a price, Juvia had to participate in the activities of the band even if she didn't like them. Although it was uncomfortable, she got used to doing what they asked without question, and ended up flooding the station.
Despite being deprived of her freedom, she confessed that she felt very comfortable in the cell. Apparently, he wasn't the only one who had visited her, several of the girls had come and talked to her and had shown her a very warm side of the Police, one that she never expected to feel from other people. That day, his day off, he spent it talking with Juvia. He got to know her and let her know him. They talked until the Chief arrived to finally open the cell, letting her free. Her sentence was fulfilled.
"Juvia is sorry for all the problems she has caused," She said remorsefully, bowing a little as she held onto her small hand luggage where she carried her few belongings. Her eyes filled with tears as they focused on the smiling faces of the officers. She stopped and looked at everyone, especially him, and smiled broadly before turning around and leaving through the glazed door of the building.
He was not the only one worried, he could tell from the look on his companions' faces that they were thinking about the fate of the blue-haired woman who was walking down the street. Alone. With no one to turn to and so inclined to get into trouble...But there wasn't much they could do for her, they could only hope they wouldn't find her in the same situation as before.
When night came, Gray went to his apartment, rejecting his team's offer to go for a drink before heading home. He didn't feel good. For some reason, he was a little down and with a too intense sting that attacked him from the base of the spine to the shoulders. He just wanted to eat something fast, take a shower, and go to bed, maybe even watch some television before giving into precious sleep.
___________________________________________________________
Gray awoke abruptly to the annoying sound of the alarm clock shrieking next to him on the bedside table. He lazily pulled an arm out from under the sheet and hit it to turn it off. To his half-asleep ears came the strange sound of something frying in the kitchen. His nose began to wake up as a delicious aroma greeted his senses, also coming from his own apartment. Startled at the realization, the officer got up from the bed and left the room totally disconcerted.
Much to Gray's surprise, when he entered his kitchen he was greeted by Phantom Lord's girl cooking scrambled eggs in his kitchen wearing a pink apron over her leather clothes. "Juvia?!" He exclaimed, "What are you doing here?!" She simply turned and gave him the sweetest of smiles. "Gray-sama!" She exclaimed happily, "You're awake!" She removed the pan from the fire and approached him, immediately engulfing him in a hug, her arms surrounding his neck. "Hey..." He said uncomfortable, gently moving away from her embrace, "What are you doing here." He asked, trying not to sound too harsh. "Juvia had nowhere to go," She looked down, "And Gray-sama said he would take care of her," "This is not what I meant," He answered, scratching the back of his head uncomfortable as he sighed, "Guess it doesn't matter now, though. Since you made breakfast, let's eat," He said, walking over to the coffee pot that steamed with fresh coffee. He poured himself a cup when he noticed that she had prepared a cup of tea for herself. "Juvia was thinking..." She started, her voice coming out slightly nervous as she stirred the infusion slowly, "Gray-sama...do you think Juvia could become a cop?" "Hmmmmm," He finished swallowing what he had in his mouth and looked at her seriously. He could tell that she had been thinking about the subject for a while. It was not something that she had just decided to ask for the heck of it. "You should talk to the chief," He finally answered, thinking carefully of what he should say next as to not offend her, "After all, even if it wasn't for something serious, you were arrested and...you did damaged the police building,"
However, it didn't look like his words affected her at all as she just shrugged her shoulders simply, as if she were a little girl who was being scolded. "But," Gray started again, "We all know you're not a bad person, maybe they will give you a chance," He said, almost cautiously, not wanting her to get her hopes up. "And Juvia will be Gray-sama's partner?" She asked, curiously, again that dreamy expression making itself known in her eyes as well as those flushed cheeks. Gray looked at her, dumbfounded. And once again responded very intelligently. "Huh?" He asked her, confused. "Gray-sama and Juvia will work together!" She squealed happily.
Gray didn't know what she was imagining, not that he was sure he wanted to know, but surely it had nothing to do with the daily work of the police. She held her face as her eyes stared at absolutely nothing, while her mouth transformed into an immense smile that babbled incoherently about "couples", "love", "destiny", and so many other things that Gray didn't even want to begin to understand.
"You will have to go to the Academy, study, and pass the exam," He said, wanting to make sure she knew it wouldn't be easy. "Study?" Juvia asked him, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Of course," He responded, taking another sip of his coffee, "You are not a police officer from one day to the next," "Oh," She said, looking somewhat disappointed as she drank some of her tea, placing it on a plate and then shrugged her shoulders, "It will take more time than she thought, but Juvia can do it," She said firmly, her eyes filled with determination. "Okay then," Gray said, finishing his coffee, "We will talk to the boss and get you started," "When Juvia graduates, will she be Gray-sama's partner?" She asked, repeating her previous question. Gray smiled and extended his hand, "It's a promise. When you become an Agent, we will make a team."
Studying, graduating, and being part of the squad seemed like a good fit for someone like her. Things would definitely change for Juvia, in a good way that is, and Officer Fullbuster was relieved to know that she would stay away from troubles if she joined the Fairy Tail Team.
"Juvia is so happy!" She squealed as she got up from her chair and threw herself at him with open arms, completely disregarding his hand. To say the least, Gray was surprised by the forward action, but he accepted the hug, surrounding her waist with his arms, sharing her happiness, and wishing that she really started a new path in her life. One that he would gladly accompany her on.

Fuuma!!! (If possible both X and TRC)
Aww the horniest man alive with kinkshaming kink 🥺
Since some things overlap (like gender and sexuality thing for example), I'll write some for all versions and some separately for X and TRC
Sexuality headcanon:
Clamp never stated it out loud but is it really up for debate? Boy is gay af. He literally can't keep hands and tongue off Kamui, literally there's no universe where he's not all over Kamui. Plus in X he was collecting sad twinks like pokemon cards so there it goes, gay af
Gender headcanon:
I don't have any really. Nothing ever lead me to think he's not cis male.
OTP:
Fuukam. I don't really ship Fuuma seriously with anyone else. I guess I could bang ship him with some other X male characters (like one night stands simply for the thrill) but I can't ship him romantically with them. Just Kamui
In TRC I can't even see those bang ship options. So again, just Kamui.
Actually you know what? He can have harem of Kamuis. That's actually why Fuuma is traveling universes, clamp just confirmed it to me in a dream 😌
BROTP:
His interactions with Seishirou in X were hilarious. I'd pay to watch Fuuma bother Seishirou everyday by looking like Subaru, rip off his wallet and crash at his place (and eat food) when Seishirou's not home. It'll be funny af to see their evil bastard convos where Fuuma's all 😏 #kinkshaming 😈 and Seishirou 😎 on surface but privately being like 'when will this kid leave me alone. Is this karma? 😟 will he stop looking like my prey while licking on that icecream so sensually? Ah what's with that smirk and - ah, he's kinkshaming me again 😑'
In trc I guess also with Seishirou since they're bastard brothers there. I'd so want to see shenanigans on beach and Fuuma surfing with Kurogane's arm while Seishirou is swimming in his priest outfit because god forbid anyone saw his younger brother has more shoulders. Also I'd so want to see Fuuma's and Kurogane's interactions, it'll be hilarious af to see Kuro being irked by Fuuma's fake smiles and carefree behavior.
Fuuma plz I got second hand embarrassment
NOTP:
Actually none? I mean I bet someone could come up with paring that'll make me go wtf but I'm yet to see it
Random headcanon:
X: ever since turning into antichrist, Fuuma sometimes keeps eye on Kamui from afar. Of course Kamui has no clue and Fuuma has no plan of using informations obtained while stalking to his gain. He doesn't even have malicious intent, he just deep down yearns for Kamui so much that sometimes he's unable to stay away. Fuuma knows their relationship is barely holding by threads and thay he can't just waltz up to Kamui and ask him how his day is going. He knows he must be strong and endure separation for sake of future and having Kamui go through realizations of his own.
Still, deep down Fuuma is aware of his own humanity. He can't stop the ache, he can't stop irrational yearning. So he watches from afar
TRC: since he's constantly on a run and travelling through dimensions alone, Fuuma sometimes worries about losing sense of identity. He barely forms long lasting bonds with people and has no family, hence feeling lonely and lost from time to time is inevitable. There's noone to reaffirm that something really happened and isn't fragment of his imagination
Hence in every world he settles in Fuuma purchases and finds trinkets on his own. Form older necklaces to compasses and ancient clock to even gemstones. Something that stores memories and reminders him of world he's been in and people he formed fleething conections with.
General opinion on said character:
X: I think Fuuma might be little underrated in fandom? Sure there are other side characters, but he's a main character and actually very very complex ar core. But I guess it comes down to fandom scratching their heads about his motives and what happened to him since that part is never explained in manga. We all have our headcanons and possible explanations but who knows what clamp has planned. Still, compared to Kamui, Seishirou and Subaru, I don't see TB/X fandom outside my mutuals circle talk about him very often...
Trc (and late X):

Prompt: An acknowledgement of how messed up it was that both Ashura and Fei Wang Reed scrambled Fai's memories so much that he didn't know what way was up anymore. (It's so sad. At least no matter how much they messed with his head, they couldn't change how kind his heart was. He tried to force himself not to care about the others, but he wasn't able to do that. :C )
"they couldn't change how kind his heart was" anon i am screaming and crying into my pillow rn
They don’t have much time to discuss certain topics following their escape from Celes. They get distracted by things like Kurogane bleeding out or the clone of Sakura being killed in the dream world and all of the realizations in Clow. After the defeat of Fei Wang Reed, their focus is on healing and deciding their next steps.
And though Kurogane knows that Fai will always have the weight of his past weighing on his heart, he also sees Fai’s true smile for the first time in, well… ever. He’s on the path to healing, they all are. But they also know each other well, and Kurogane isn’t the only one to notice the heaviness in Fai’s eyes, the way something constantly tugs at his thoughts and pulls him out of the present moment.
It’s a few worlds after leaving Clow, with a quick stop to Piffle for a new arm, that it becomes too much for Fai. Kurogane wakes in the middle of the night and sees Syaoran and Mokona fast asleep, but Fai’s bed is empty. Staying in a small hotel, there aren’t many places for Fai to hide, so Kurogane quietly sneaks out to find him. That isn’t very hard, either; maybe it’s something to do with the last vestiges of the blood they share or perhaps it’s because Fai’s magic has returned and it’s too powerful to not sense, but Kurogane feels a tug upwards. He climbs the stairwell until he opens the door to the roof.
There’s a chain link fence along the perimeter for safety. Fai sits in front of it, his legs crossed, and stares out at the city scape. The stars in the sky are almost invisible, so the lights from the city twinkle in their place. Fai doesn’t seem to really be looking at any of it though. He stares straight ahead at the mountain in the distance, barely visible against the dark sky, his eyes unfocused.
He only blinks and snaps out of whatever thoughts he was stuck in when Kurogane sits beside him. “Kuro-sama,” Fai murmurs in surprise. “What are you doing up here?”
“You were thinking so loud I could hear it from our room,” Kurogane answers.
Fai smiles sheepishly and looks down at his crossed legs, his feet only protected by a set of slippers provided by the hotel. “Sorry,” He says like that’s actually true. “I just couldn’t sleep.”
“Wanna tell me about it?” Kurogane asks, gentler now.
Fai swallows, his jaw tight. He thinks for a moment, biting at his lips as he comes up with the right words. “I’m just—remembering.” He takes a deep, trembling breath, looks up at the sky and blinks like his eyes are burning. “And wondering what else is wrong in my memory.”
Kurogane feels a sharp pain in his chest, aching for the boy whose life was stolen away by those that chose to take advantage of his fragile mind. Fai’s memory had been altered by both Fei Wang Reed and Ashura, enough to completely warp his perception of his entire life. Enough to make him believe that he’d murdered his brother in an act of self-preservation. Enough to set him down a path of guilt and self-destruction.
Tears spill over Fai’s cheeks despite his best efforts, sparkling from the lights of the city. “I keep thinking over everything, again and again and again. All the things I thought I knew and all the things I learned I didn’t, and I can’t—I just—what if there’s more that was changed? What if my memories aren’t—?”
Kurogane can only imagine what Fai is feeling. Memories were, in his opinion, the most valuable thing a person could possess. Even if he did not live within his past regrets, if he couldn’t remember his mother’s gentle smile or his father’s determination, who would he be today? To lose such memories, or to learn that they were never real, it would make any person question their reality.
“What if—” Fai continues, rambling now, all of the thoughts and fears that had been piling up since he learned of his memories being tampered with spilling out. “My brother, what if I don’t—what if I can’t—?”
He digs the heels of his palms into his eyes like he’s trying to shove the tears back inside, but they continue to fall. His cheeks go blotchy and he sniffles pathetically.
“Oh, gods,” Fai says, his voice cracking over a sob. “I feel like I—like I can’t trust any—any of my mem—memories.”
Kurogane gently takes Fai’s wrists to move his hands away from his eyes. Fai looks back at him with bloodshot eyes, a fresh wave of tears building up when their gazes meet. Kurogane never wishes to see Fai cry again and he itches to cut down whoever brings tears to those eyes. But he’s already done that—twice. Unfortunately, this is something that a sword alone will never be able to heal.
“That king,” Kurogane begins while looking down at Fai’s hands, the scars that prove what Fai went through. “I still hate him. I don’t know if I’ll ever forgive him, but…” He looks back to blue eyes. “He loved you and—I dunno. Maybe he thought what he did was right, in some twisted way. But he wouldn’t have taken anything else from you. I may hate him, but I know that.”
Fai swallows and glances to the side—almost like he’s trying to look behind him, at the place the tattoo used to sit, his last gift from the closest thing he ever had to a father. He’d gone his entire life believing the lie Ashura told him. Even now, when they aren’t in a life or death situation, Kurogane can feel a hesitation from Fai to use his magic without the phoenix on his back.
“And as for that damned Reed,” Kurogane continues. “Your brother showed you the truth, didn’t he? If there was anything else Fei Wang had changed, your brother would have shown you.”
Fai looks down at his hands, still held tenderly in Kurogane’s. “I suppose… you’re right…” He murmurs without sounding convinced.
“Hmph.” Kurogane yanks on Fai’s hands, pulling him forward so that Fai lands in a graceless heap against Kurogane’s chest.
“K-Kuro-sama?” Fai asks against the fabric of Kurogane’s t-shirt. He quiets when Kurogane wraps his arms around him, one flesh and the other synthetic.
“And if you’re so worried about remembering things, don’t be,” Kurogane tells him. “I’ll remember everything for the both of us.”
Fai pulls himself out of Kurogane’s arms, his hands braced on Kurogane’s thighs so he can lift his head and look up at the ninja in shock. And then gratitude. And then a mix between happiness and sadness that has him crying again and returning his face to Kurogane’s chest.
Kurogane strokes his hair and lets Fai cry. He has a lifetime of tears built up, after all. A lifetime of guilt he’s had to live with, and now the recent truth that it was all a lie. New grief replaces the old with the realization, and there is little Fai can do but just feel it. And there is little Kurogane can do but be there for him in moments like this.
So, that’s what he does. He offers his shirt, his arms, his entire heart in the hopes that it will soothe Fai’s aching soul. He has a lifetime of tears built up, but it’s okay. He has a lifetime with Kurogane being there to wipe them away, too.

‘ i feel like a stranger in my skin ’ ( tsubasa to mokona during the infinity arc / poetry starters )
this world that they have found themselves in is dark – like all the color has been washed from its buildings, its people, the heart of what makes it a world at all. this world is strange in its angular shapes that seem as if they will cut if you move wrong past them. this world is quiet around its edges and in their little apartment. fai doesn’t smile right; kurogane doesn’t get mad in the way that mokona laughs; sakura’s eyes are dim; syaoran is worried so much that mokona aches with it.
mokona knows this because mokona feels it. she has been with her family for a very long time now. for her whole life, in fact, or at least as much of it as she remembers, so it’s really the same thing. she has known them through all the pain and has sworn – to herself, to them – that she wants those memories because they are precious.
this, too, will become a precious memory because they are together.
but mokona’s whole body is full to all that it is with what she feels. she watches syaoran’s face – the same, a little, to whom she has known, but so so so different that she knows she would never confuse them.
the syaoran she has known is far away from all of them and mokona worries; this syaoran is here with them but mokona worries more because he feels all the farther away.
❛ syaoran. ❜
she moves until she can reach his knee, placing both paws on it, leaning with all her weight and hoping that it is enough that he will feel it and understand all her feelings – the big feelings, the feelings that want to swallow her, the feelings she doesn’t have enough words for. she waits because she has to – because he has to look at her to understand.
❛ this syaoran is this syaoran. ❜ ( maybe it would be better if she knew another name for him – names are cherished things. mokona keeps both of hers close to her heart. but this is all she has, so she makes do. ) ❛ syaoran is right here with all of us ! but it feels like syaoran is far, far away. mokona can’t reach you, but mokona is trying ! if syaoran comes back, mokona can help. mokona can remind you that you are you. mokona feels syaoran’s sadness and worry. but syaoran isn’t alone. mokona’s here. and everyone else, too ! ❜
