not to be the guy to compare two popular new netflix shows to each other, but y'know what? yeah, i am a little upset that wednesday is more popular than 1899. don't get me wrong, i don't hate wednesday, i did genuinely enjoy watching it, but 1899 changed me. it left me thinking about the story and the characters and the mystery. what we know, what we don't know, what's gonna happen. those are all things a good mystery show makes you think about. wednesday didn't make me think about any of that.

wednesday is a fine show. but i think it's getting all the extra hype that 1899 actually deserves.

Just remembered this prod and I think this bears repeating. Seriously, it's insane how all the female characters are portrayed as the most ridiculous unsympathetic versions of themselves. Anna is a liar and a cheater, Elvira literally drowns herself, and Zerlina is just a whore. Like... this show really centers around the women. If all of them are frivolous or crazy, then there's no point in the show. And what makes it worse is the unnecessary graphic sex scenes. Maybe it could've been tasteful in another context, but in an interpretation that already depicts the women like that, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

And who would've guessed - the men are portrayed normally! Or as normal as they can be when the main character they support are portrayed so erratically. Like, Masetto is a violent drunk, but the interpretation justifies his jealousy. And Ottavio is a really nice guy who gets cheated on and abandoned, making him one of the more sympathetic characters in the production. My god, how do you miss the point this hard?

Also they CUT TESORO can you believe it. They CUT MY FAVORITE SONG which has ZERO PLOT RELEVANCE and is COMPLETELY ANTITHETICAL to their interpretation. I hate this guy fr
