Hi Sam. A potentially stupid question. Image descriptions for screen readers. Do they work the same way for audio and video? As in are they needed or helpful? I'm finding conflicting answers when I search for this.
Not at all a stupid question! I think sometimes it can vary by community, to be honest.
Screen-reader users, visually impaired folk, and others for whom IDs are particularly relevant, feel free to chime in; I'm going to ramble and you likely have more useful stuff to say. Remember to do it in reblogs or notes, as I don't post asks sent in response to other asks.
I'm not visually impaired, and I don't use a screen reader and thus am not really able to speak with firsthand authority. In the past, when I've asked, I've heard that in-post text is better than alt-text for images; even if that stops being the case, I prefer to use in-post text because there are people who aren't screen-reader users who also like the IDs. I do too, actually. And generally I've heard that video as well as image should be described. I don't do straight audio generally, but when I do, if it's a song I don't bother because the title is there and lyrics are googleable, if it's speech I like to see/give a transcript.
I like when videos have descriptions especially, because I am almost never in a position to play a video I see on my dash. If the video doesn't autoplay I don't want to hit play because then it will load with audio and I'm usually either a) somewhere I can't have audio or b) already listening to something and unwilling to turn it off. If the video autoplays it's muted, but if it's audio-heavy there's the same issue. So if someone posts a video without a description/transcript, unless it has captions, I can't engage.
There are a lot of guides out there for how to write IDs and I kind of think, based on conversations I've had, most of them are bullshit by people who don't use screen readers. In my experience, which is not universal but is relatively comprehensive, people who can't see an image often do not want a precise objective description as we're instructed to provide.
There's a great essay that touches on this, Against Access, where the writer, who is Deafblind, talks about how he doesn't want a diagram, he wants an emotional evocation.
Why are you telling me, telling me, telling me things? Your job isn’t to deliver this whole room to me on a silver platter. I don’t want the silver platter. I want to attack this room. I want to own it, just like how the sighted people here own it. Or, if the room isn’t worth owning, then I want to grab whatever I find worth stealing.
I've had people get shitty with me about putting "feelings" into my IDs, but the majority of people for whom those IDs are necessary have told me they like it because, for example, saying "She looks like she's about to commit violence" is a subjective opinion but conveys something that "A woman is standing with arms upraised and a frown on her face" does not. And if you're describing an image but there's not a ton of meaning to it, describing it in clinical detail is wasting time. A paragraph describing a fortysomething white guy and all the clothing he's wearing and the room he's in is not as helpful, on occasion, as simply saying "This is a photograph of me in my bedroom." It depends on context, which is your call to make, and the only way to get good at that is to do it.
But again: this is my experience with my readers, and even John Lee Clark, quoted above, doesn't speak for his whole community. So I would suggest that the best way to get an answer for this is just to ask your readers what they'd prefer. If you have friends who use screenreaders, ask them. If you don't, or if you don't get a response from your readers, I would do what you feel is best until someone tells you otherwise, and then be gracious and discuss it with them so you can better understand their needs. In my experience, when someone is genuinely trying to make a more welcoming space for disabilities -- as opposed to making virtue-signal attempts to Be The Perfect Ally -- they get a lot of slack when they don't get it exactly right. It is better to make a welcoming space for people to feel safe telling you that you fucked up than it is to pretend you're never going to fuck up.
So yeah, as someone who is more or less fully sighted, that's my two cents, but if you really want to know what your readers want, you know...I'd ask them. :) Good luck, either way.

I swear, you can't get rid of me, dude.
Another prompt ✨ Adam and reader playing a "What do you meme" game but it's DIY with instead of actual meme pictures, it's reaction pics of either of them, some of Lute, Sera, Emily and other angels (But mostly them). The reader pulls out a card he made specifically for this occasion that read "When you're playing a game with your partner, but suddenly someone interrupts it to propose" Adam being the dumb bitch that he is doesn't realise anything and searches for an ideal card, the card probably being:
When he finally goes to put the card into the table, he sees the reader on his knee with a nice velvet box, a shiny golden band with a sapphire in the middle and Adam just disconnects from the server, blue screen, the equivalence of this gif:
You say that like I want to get rid of you, nah bitch ur stuck with me now. Also: another crack fic whoop whoop (even tho the ending turned out super soft n cute imo) also Adam's basically me. You have to say that shit straight up to my face otherwise I'll think ur joking lol
I'm liking it better with you
pairing: Adam x male!reader
warnings: language, yet another crack fic
note: not beta read bc fuck you I don't have beta readers
If someone would've told you that you'd spend your afterlife with the Adam, you would've called them insane, yet there you were.
Adam was sitting on the couch across from you while you had made yourself comfy on the armchair, between the both of you was a small coffee table and on that table was a card.
‘When you realize the song you always skip is actually fire.'
You giggled to yourself as you played a picture of Lute. Her face was scrunched up and the expression on it basically screamed ‘I was wrong but won't admit it'.
That picture was from when Lute had lost a bet against Adam that had involved you and him hooking up - it was from before the two of you had started dating and was old as fuck but that didn't make the picture less funny.
Adam grinned as you played the card, then he raised an eyebrow, “That’s the best you have to offer, babes?” You simply shrugged, “What, you think I'd play shitty on purpose? C’mon you know me well enough to know that I won't settle with anything less than the closest thing to perfect.” Adam was too focused on the game to understand the hint and to be honest you couldn't really blame him, so you continued the game without another word about it.
You picked the next caption card.
‘When you're cutting wrapping paper and the scissors start to glide.’
Adam was quick to slam a matching picture card on the table, it was a picture of him putting his index fingers together - he accidentally formed an A with his hands - his facial expression was giving praying vibes with his closed eyes and the slightly up tilted chin.
You remembered the day that picture was taken on so clearly, Adam had been in an argument with Lute, she wanted something from Sera and had asked Adam to pull some strings and Adam being the idiot he was had taken on the position shown on the picture right before he snapped at her, “Do I look like motherfucking God? Go talk to Sera yourself, bitch.”
“Fuck that's good,” you admitted quietly, unfortunately Adam had heard you, “Duh, I'm fucking Adam, of course I'm good at this game it features my fucking face and my face is fucking perfect.” You playfully rolled your eyes at the brunette who seemed quite proud of himself, “Yeah whatever Dickmaster, gimme another caption card.”
And so Adam did.
‘When your shampoo says ‘Damage Control’ but deep down you're still broken.’
“Getting personal now, are we?” you teased the taller man who shot you a playful smirk. He leaned against the backrest of the couch and put his arms up to rest on top of it, “Your words babes, not mine.” Oh that motherfucker, how you loved him.
You confidently played a picture card of yourself that time, it showed you passive aggressively slurping a milkshake that Adam had bought you only moments after someone's brat had knocked your ice cream cone onto the ground - ah good old times.
You vividly remember how pissed you had been, fuck, you remember how Adam had yelled at that kid to watch where the fuck she was going and then he had started to pick a fight with the mom and all that just because of some fucking ice cream. In the end Adam had managed to lighten up your mood by buying you that milkshake you were drinking in the picture you had just played. Adam had taken that picture to point out how cute your grumpy face looked, at the time you were not having it but looking back at it he kinda had a point.
“I’ll never get tired of seeing your munched up angry little face,” he chuckled as he looked at the picture of you. You stayed silent and played the next caption card, your hands were slightly shaking and by the love of God you hoped Adam was too distracted to notice. And luckily he actually was.
“The fuck is that?” he exclaimed confused as he read the card over and over again, then he looked up at you, “The fuck does ‘When you’re playing a game with your partner, but suddenly someone interrupts it to propose’ even mean?” You shrugged and Adam went through all of his picture cards twice.
And while Adam had been busy picking a card to play, you had gotten out of your seat and were now down on one knee beside him. In your hands there was a little box that was covered in purple velvet and contained a shiny golden band and the most beautiful looking sapphire was gleaming at Adam. It had been hard to find a band made out of pure gold instead of the thing just being gold plated, but in the end you had found the perfect one.
Finally Adam looked up from the cards he was holding and slammed one onto the table, “Try to beat that, bitch.”
On the picture he was frowning, his mask covered his face so the frown was all LED mask but it showed his emotions pretty well, one of his hands was raised as if he were to make a point about something.
At first the brunette blinked confused at the empty chair across from him, then his eyes caught yours and the cocky grin that had sat on his lips so perfectly fell, it left an expression you weren't able to read. “Adam,” you spoke softly, slightly irritated by his reaction but still confident, “I’ve known you ever since I got here and while I'm aware that we spent little time together compared to how long you've been up here,” you continued and you really couldn't help but smile.
Adam on the other hand was completely silent, his expression was blank, there was no emotion on his face at all and it made you worry that this might've been too soon. But you simply inhaled deeply and spoke up again, “And I know that our future together will be even longer, it's not really eternity's thing to have an end after all, but-” you swallowed hard. Why wasn't he reacting, why wasn't he telling you to either quit it or hurry up like he usually did when you took too long?
You swallowed whatever negative feelings were bubbling up your throat and went on to confess, “But that's what I want, Adam. I want to spend the rest of eternity with you by my side. I don't want to imagine life up here without you as my partner and I-” Adam made you interrupt yourself as he cupped your cheeks softly, his thumb carefully brushing over your bottom lip, “Keep going babes, I wanna hear what else you have to say.” You gave him a small nod, it took a moment for you to find your voice again but once you did, you finished your little speech, “I not only want you by my side as my boyfriend, but as my husband. So will you take this ring and marry me?”
Adam dropped to his knees in front of you, his hands were still cupping your face ever so softly as his lips met yours. The kiss was warm and soft, slow and almost lazy and Adam wasn't going to pick up the pace, not for that kiss at least. He wanted you to drown in the feeling of his kiss, he wanted you to drown in his love for you and equally he wanted to drown in your love for him. “Yes you little shithead,” the first man whispered against your lips followed by giving them a quick peck, “I’ll marry you.”

Sweet Nothings
Inspired by Sweet Nothing by Taylor Swift
Genre: Angst, Fluff
Pairing: idol!Bangchan x idol!Reader
Warnings: Reader ruminates over how they're constantly criticized
Comments, Likes, and Reblogs are welcome and appreciated!
On the way home I wrote a poem You say, "What a mind" This happens all the time
They always wanted so much from you. It was like everyone had some expectation of you that you could never reach. Every lyric scrutinized, every dance move analyzed; even the way you walked was up for scrutiny. What once brought you joy started to feel like a chore. It felt like you weren't allowed to have fun with lyrics anymore unless you wanted articles written about how you had "lost your spark".
That was until Chan came along. The first time you met him you thought he would be like everyone else. Especially since he was a producer and songwriter, you were expecting him to give you feedback from the first meeting--as most producers you met did. Instead, he talked to you about your crocheting. It was a little hobby you had that you barely ever talked about, but he remembered it.
You two had a blossoming friendship that turned to more on a drive home from dance practice. You were playing around with a beat and wrote some lyrics that didn't mean much. It was just an in-the-moment type of thing. But when he heard it, he just smiled at you and added to your little bundle of nonsense.
Industry disruptors and soul deconstructors And smooth-talking hucksters out glad-handing each other And the voices that implore, "You should be doing more" To you, I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it
He never judged you. That's one of the things you loved most about him. You were both idols who got extremely busy and each had your own bundle of problems, but at the end of the day when you two were airing it all out in the open and ranting about everything from a small inconvenience to huge scandals, there was never any judgement. Only understanding.
There were days when it seemed like nothing was ever enough. You'd go live and message on bubble and post on Instagram and weverse and even uploaded a vlog! But there was always something amiss. Some challenge you didn't do or some song you didn't talk about. Your captions were either lackluster or too cringe. You kept a brave face around the fans, and even started doing so in front of staff. It was only when you were with Chan that you could let the facade crumble and hide yourself in his embrace.
They said the end is coming Everyone's up to something I find myself running home to your sweet nothings
You were only 24 but were already reminded of how easy it would be for you to fade into nothingness. Every month a new artist debuted, and while you were secure where you were now, there was no guarantee for the future. One day, the world would deem you too old to be an idol and all you'd have left was your name.
But when you came home, it was like all your worries were silenced. There were no expectations between the two of you other than to just be.
"Be yourself, that's all I want from you", he'd said one day when you'd tried breaking up with him early in your relationship. Just be you.
Everything was something to be celebrated. Something as small as waking up was an accomplishment when you were with Chan. Lazy days in were rebranded to self care days. There was no such thing as a lazy meal because everything tasted better when you were together. Chan was your safe space and you were his. All there was between you two was pure love. You treasured each other as you were, not as you could be.
All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing
This has been sitting unfinished in my drafts for a while, but after Chan changed his Instagram caption I realized how I wanted to write this. I hope all of you have someone you can turn to who can just accept you as you are and not for what you can be. You deserve to be with someone/people who don't have expectations for what you need to be. As always, have a great morning, afternoon, evening, and night <3

I think the warrior cats and warriors in your submission list are the same thing,btw do you have reccomendations of like. anything that writes woman well
Ah, you might be right; I think I skimmed that entry's propaganda, and it was very specific to whatever series it was about without dropping the full series name, and I was like "Maybe this is Warrior Cats? I feel lazy, I'm not going to look heavily into it."
So, as a reminder: use the full but common name for the series! For example, Miraculous Ladybug (this seems to be the most common title despite being a shortened version), Warrior Cats, BBC Sherlock, etc. And check that you don't have a space after the title's entry, as that counts as a different entry than the title without the space when using the UNIQUE function in Google sheets (which is how I count the unique entries).
As for recommendations, this is hard because I watch a lot of trash, especially recently, but:
- You can never go wrong with Revolutionary Girl Utena. Note: this show (and start with the show, not the movie) has a lot of potentially triggering stuff, so check out those warnings before you start if you have any triggers at all. It uses the triggering stuff very well and to tell its story and explore its themes, not just for, like, titillation though. Indeed, it is, I would argue, necessary for the story and themes the show seeks to explore. It is legally free on Youtube in...I want to say 480p, and in better resolution on Crunchyroll and Funimation (yes, Funimation's site is still up; I find it superior to Crunchyroll's since it actually includes closed captions for dubs, although it doesn't include newer anime from after the two companies merged). Also, you want to watch the sub for this. I'm normally not one to say "the dub is bad" and stuff and be a purist about it—in fact I normally go to bat for dubs—but, uh... yeah, the dub is bad this time. Crispin Freeman and Dan Green are delightful in it though, I'll give it that.
- Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood uses its female characters well. Maybe it could be better, I've seen some people in these tournaments have beef with it, but it's a pretty perfectly told story, like solid A+, with a lot of really great female characters who I find very satisfying so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. This is on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and I believe Amazon Prime?
- Don't let the title fool you: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a fantastic show with great female characters who are complex and human, have compelling arcs, and are vital to the story. The relationship between Rebecca and Paula is central to the show and SO good, especially as the show goes on. The title is because it explores the trope of the crazy ex-girlfriend in a very humanizing way, and the title/opening song even mentions how the title is a sexist term, but it's a lot more nuanced than that. Also, it's a musical with very good original songs every episode. But check trigger warnings for this show too though. The show is streaming on Netflix last I checked.
- Uhh... maybe the first two seasons of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic? It's a kid's show, but it's good. I haven't seen it in years and years though, so I don't know if I can still fully vouch for it. I believe it is streaming on Netflix?
- Revue Starlight? I haven't thought about it heavily, but I had no beef watching it. This is streaming on HiDive.
- I've heard good things about Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, but I can't vouch for it personally. It's streaming on Crunchyroll.
UPDATE: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is also legally on youtube!
Honestly, I know more imperfect shows that I'm satisfied with, like I give it a B+ to A- at least, but that I haven't thought heavily about than stuff where I'm like, "Oh, yeah, definitely, definitely, nothing I'd pick out there as a problem." For example, Baccano! is probably imperfect (as well as not streaming legally anywhere), but I don't remember being, like, struck by a bunch of problems there. So, I'm not the best for recs that I can give a 100% guarantee for.

watching the Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) with Mom
my mom absolutely loves the Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) but she cannot stop saying how much she hates Taylor's bangs lol
she's like "this girl is so pretty but I cannot get over those bangs!! I can barely see her eyes!"
it's the most mom-coded complaint rofl
Mom's favorite song is "Anti-Hero" but she has never been able to understand the lyrics to Taylor songs because Taylor's voice is too high in pitch for Mom's 74-year-old hearing, but watching the concert on D+ with the captions on has been very illuminating for her haha. She's like, "I don't know if I understand it now" after seeing the lyrics to "Anti-Hero" rofl. Lyrically she was most impressed by ATW10, hahaha, she was like "WHOA" at a few different points at the siq burns Taylor delivers on Jake G. She was familiar with a surprising number of songs but really only the more recent parts of the discography ("You Belong With Me" and "Love Story" were the exceptions, she'd heard those). Btw, when it comes to "Love Story": she was DELIGHTED by those lyrics too. My parents were big time Romeo & Juliet stans in the late '60s because of the Zefirelli adaptation (she was horrified when I informed her of the recent lawsuits and how those kids were underaged and nude - she said she didn't even remember the nudity, honestly, which goes to show how unnecessary it was). My parents were so into that adaptation that they almost named my brother "Montague Tybalt" until my grandmother vetoed it hard. But she was delighted at Taylor rewriting R + J to be happy.
She was not at all familiar with Speak Now or anything from Midnights besides Anti-Hero. She was pretty 50/50 on folkmore familiarity (she LOVED "marjorie" as I predicted she would) . She knew all of 1989 and reputation. She didn't know much of Red but she LOVED the songs from it, lol. She was coming off a bad breakup in 2012 and I think Red would have resonated hard with her. She was DELIGHTED by WANEGBT lol.
Anyway Mom loved it because it had subtitles. She's still a P!nk fan first and foremost, followed by Dua Lipa, but especially now that Republicans are targeting Taylor, shes getting on board with Taylor, but she really wants Taylor to do something about her bangs

harry styles and jennie kim hooked up in the past; a thread. (PART 2)
the images below are just to represent the thread, i got both from @roseqnne.
in part two, i promised to explain why my theory if all of harry and jennie's public interactions at the time are so silly and no big deal.
from here, there is almost no proven interaction between H and J. it's just speculation.
well, let's start with that.
harry's holidays at japan.
in january of 2019, when harry finished the 'Live On Tour', he decided to take advantage of his rest period in japan (a country he loves very much). jennie, who began her journey of fame and acclaim in the west, was already very well regarded with blackpink throughout asia, with japan being one of the main countries.
it is possible that harry has heard a lot about jennie in japan, even having mutual friends, such as the model kiko mizuhara, who is always seen with blackpink members at events in the country and even follows all the girls on instagram, including jennie. it is worth remembering that before conquering the world, jennie is a fashion icon throughout asia since the beginning of her career.
remembering that in march, still the beginning of the year, he followed jennie on instagram.
harry in a dinner with kiko and jisoo & rosé with her in a fashion event.
sunflower, vol. 6
i think i am going to touch a sensitive spot by theorizing that this song might actually be about jennie, but i don't care! it's my theory, and believe it or not, she was to blame for my mistrust of a romance between this two.
in august 2019, jennie, together with lisa, jisoo and rosé, spent her vacation in honolulu, hawaii, where she posted a photo with the following caption:
Fine Line seems a lot to do with harry's whole relationship with camille rowe, but 'sunflower, vol. 6', analyzing the lyrics, is about meeting someone new, who is still not close enough and all that initial nervousness. it's not a serious thing, but a crush that makes you feel nervous and apprehensive, a person you really want to get to know more and get deeper into and it's one of those harry songs that the fandom isn't so sure of or plausible theories about what it might be.
the album was only released in december of 2019.
jennie in london.
in march 2020, almost 1 year after the first sign, jennie goes to london to work for the gentle monster eyewear brand. coincidentally, harry was also in town. on valentine's day, jennie went to dinner at a restaurant and posted one of the following photos:
i don't believe harry had it there, otherwise someone would probably have asked for a photo or taken one in secret, however, coincidence or not, he was mugged while walking down the street at the exactly same day.
in this interview for The Howard Stern Show, harry also reveal that he was single at the time. taking the opportunity to say that i don't believe they had any possibility of anything serious for several reasons, starting with their busy schedules and different continents.
in my theory, this was one of harry and jennie's last moments, even if they were just having fun and getting to know each other. some time later, harry started his relationship with olivia wilde and jennie entered into rumors of a possible one with g-dragon.
now, let's jump to 2022.
and stay for the song analysis!

The Devil's Chord
Been looking forward to this one.
The Devil's Chord is a tritone right? Like the Devil's Interval? Ok yep, Wikipedia confirms since it says ""Devil's Chord" redirects here. For the Doctor Who episode, see The Devil's Chord." Yay, the one little bit of music theory I remembered.
The Simpsons starts with a Devil's Interval, once again one of the few things from music theory I remember. 4 knocks. I feel like Jinkx is truly everywhere now. A year or so ago when I heard she was cast in a Doctor Who episode I was like "oh, that's nice" but didn't really know who she was. And now I feel like she's literally everywhere all at once. Cute way to bring in the intro with the piano. Though if I see one person claim that this is the first time the Doctor Who Theme was played differently, I'm slapping them in the face with Demons of the Punjab. Oh and it coming out of the Jukebox as it finishes is cute too. Ruby's a girl after my own heart. Why have you never done it before Doctor? Seriously. Also who says they want to go to the Titanic? I'm with Ruby in picking a historical moment that's fun, the place I wanna go is to see opening night of Pippin on Broadway in 1972. We're just days before my dad was born. That's crazy. Ruby, girl, that dress could actually blend in decently well. But glad you're considering it. God. Ncuti in that outfit make me so happy. Ever since the first set pictures leaked. The afro with the mustache reminds me of pictures of my grandpa in the 70s. God I love historical episodes. I was warned there'd be no Beatles songs. Which really does make me sad. But knowing the Maestro steals music, sure. Doctor stop knocking with 4 knocks. Back to the no Beatles music thing. I wonder if they'll at least, at the end when I assume everything gets fixed, do one of the famous songs that the Beatles covered? Like Till There Was You from Music Man? Or maybe Twist and Shout? So I vaguely saw a gifset showing various older women. I scrolled past it quickly when I realized it was Doctor Who because of a gif or two of Mrs. Flood and I didn't want spoilers. I took from that little bit of context that she might be popping up everywhere. Is this Mrs. Flood again? Do I just forget what she looks like? What is the Maestro's motivation to do this? If you love music so much, why not make people make even more of it? So canonically, we don't know where Susan is? I've always assumed she's just lived her life out with whatshisface wherever the Doctor left them. Doctor, baby, why are you laughing? Oh the old lady probably remembers the time before music died. Doctor, I'm sure you realize you're basically using Ruby as bait. NO. No the laughing arpeggio again. The Giggle. No not the old lady. His soul is torn in half. God I still hate this stupid bigeneration thing so much. The gods? Lord Temporal? Bound in salt? We're really sticking with the salt thing. [Playing the Saxon theme off-key] Ok the specificity of just the captions mentioning Saxon really really concerns me. Only can go back to 1963, like how the Doctor limited the TARDIS under the Master's control to just go between 2007 (2008? Stupid RTD timeline) and the end of the universe. Speaking Turkish, I'm sorry what? "I thought that was non-diagetic." I had to look it up to make sure, but wow that's a good 4th wall breaking joke. AND it leans into the story theme. How can a song have so much power? Have you HEARD Carol of the Bells? Who is the oldest one? Also I better not see a single person complain about Clara's Impossible Girl-ness ever again when we've got Ruby making it literally snow and manifest her memories into real life. Maple Leaf Rag! I was gonna say in the opening that if it's 1925 and they want something fun, they got plenty of ragtime right there to pick from. Plus jazz. I was gonna say I don't know how I feel about John being the one to save the day, but then Paul joined him. I guess I can accept that. "The one who waits is almost here" Girl what does that even mean? If it's not Dhawan!Master I don't want them. Yasss Rhapsody in Blue. See this was a perfect opportunity to get the rights to Twist and Shout like come on. Raining indoors. Oh and there's the kid again. I thought he was a projection or something, but I guess he's real.
I definitely enjoyed that episode a lot. Though the There's Always A Twist At The End was a bit much, even for me the girl who loves musical theatre.
I wanna know what the notes that saved them were though.
Ok I dived into a Reddit thread to see what the answer was. No one gave a straight answer. Google wasn't helpful either (especially with their stupid AI thing). It seems the consensus is that it's the final chord of A Day In the Life. I'm gonna take their word for it, my knowledge of music theory ends at me even knowing what the Devil's Interval was in the first place.
Also two things that came to mind as I proofread this:
The Doctor being called the Lord Temporal makes me wonder if they're gonna try to say he's one of these beings from outside the universe. Since it could be possible given he's the Timeless Child.
...Actually. In the process of typing this, my mom asked me a question and when I came back I literally could not remember what the second thing was. And I've spent like 10 minutes trying to remember by rereading the post. I can't remember. It's totally gone. So, I may edit this with whatever my second thought was. Maybe I was wondering if Ruby would be the one who is like the Toymaker and Maestro? I feel like that wasn't it though, but it was something I thought of.

After 2 nights Jane decided to go to the train station.
"I miss my comfort zone," Jane said in the air and prepared all she needed before leaving her house going to her comfort zone. When she arrived at the train station, she set up her chair and guitar.
"I really love the sound of the train, why do I love the sound of the train? Well, the sound of a train hides the pain and screams from within." Jane said with satisfaction as she heard the train's sound and started to play her guitar and started to sing a song titled beautiful in white.
She doesn't know that the stranger she saw the other night was there too.
"OMG she's here." She walked slowly toward Jane.
"You have a nice voice," Lali said and Jane got surprised and instinctively placed her palm on her chest,
"OMYGOSH," Jane shouted.
"Ohh sorry! Did I freak you out?" Lali said. "Isn't it obvious," Jane said with an eye-roll of annoyance, she got up and reached for her guitar.
"I'm sorry, are you leaving? May I talk to you for a moment?" Lali said immediately.
"No, talking to strangers is not something I prefer." Jane replied in a serious tone.
"Wait miss, may I know your name." Lali asked.
"No," Jane shortly replied
"Okay. I won't force you to say it, but could you please accept this?" Lali said as she extended her hands offering something.
"If I agree to take it, you need to assure me that you won't bother me anymore, understood?" Jane said.
"Yes miss," Lali replied with a smile on her face.
Jane accepted what Lali was offering and walked away. Just before she left, she turned around and playfully said,
"By the way my name is Aswang," with a mischievous giggle, she departed without looking back.
"Aswang? Cutie, I hope to see you again tomorrow night Aswang," Lali said in her mind.
When Jane got home, she posted on her Instagram story a picture of her holding a rose with a caption of
"Thank you for giving me these roses, I remember him because of these roses," with heart imoji's. Her friend Jezrel replied to her story.
"Girl! You already have a suitor?"
"Lol no. A stranger gave me those flowers. You know the girl I was talking about? Flash girl," Jane replied.
"Ohh! That girl who sneakily snapped a photo of you without realizing her camera flash on?"
"Yeah, bye Jez," Jane plainly replied.
"See you tomorrow night, my comfort zone," Jane said before she slept .
The next night, Lali patiently waited for Jane.
"Wait I think I already saw her! She's going somewhere," Lali said in her mind and hurriedly approaches Jane with a friendly smile on her face.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Lali asked and Jane glances at Lali but chooses not to respond, keeping her gaze forward.
"Are you mad at me? Sorry if I bother you again," Lali said.
"I don't usually talk to strangers," Jane replied calmly.
"Ohh I see. Well nice to meet you then! I'm Lali, Lali Montefalco," Lali introduced herself, extending her hand. Jane raised an eyebrow but eventually accepted the handshake.
"Aswang," Jane muttered under her breath.
"Is it your real name?" Lali asked genuinely curious. Jane simply shook her head.
"So what's you real name..... Wait!!" Lali impulsively followed Jane onto the train, without considering the consequences.
"She's really testing my patience, I could really hit her right now.
"Is she crazy? Just blindly following me without realizing a single clue she where im headed? She's beautiful, but she's a little bit crazy. Why she's smiling like a maniac," Jae said in her mind.
"Why did I even follow her? My body moves on its own, like I wanted to be with her. What if she's really an Aswang, beautiful Aswang? I searched about Aswang and its a mythical creature in the Philippines," Lali said in her mind. Then Lali breaks the silence and says.
"Miss, what's your real name? And how did you know about Aswang? Because as far as I know, Aswang is only seen in the Philippines, it's a mythical creature in the Philippines," Lali asked.
"None of your business," Jane answered in a cold tone.
"So cold, I feel like you need my tenderness," Lali playfully replied.
"I feel also that you need to see a doctor," Jane replied sarcastically.They arrived at the park with a beautiful and colorful sky because of the different colors of the fireworks. Lali and Jane both said.
"The brightest night". They just watched a fireworks show.
"Why did you even follow me? Jane asked, but Lali didn't reply.
"I don't know either. Is this the only thing that can make her happy? I can see in her eyes that she is happy, her eyes are shining with joy," Lali said in her mind
After they watched the fireworks show, they went back to the train station. Jane usually goes there and watches a fireworks show. After a few minutes they arrived at the train station.
"Thank God, this weird girl didn't do anything inappropriate," Jane said in her mind.
"Thanks for tagging along huh," Jane said sarcastically.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to follow you. I just want to make friends," Lali said and she pleaded, sounding like an adorable puppy.
"I'm not interested, Jane replied shortly.
"It's alright, at least I'm interested, Lali said cheerfully, and for a moment her cuteness almost made Jane crack a smile.
"Are you crazy? Whatever, I'm leaving," Jane said with annoyance.
"Wait, when will we meet again?" Lali's voice was filled with excitement.
"Maybe.... never?" Jane teased her, but she took it seriously, her head dropped down. Suddenly a guilt washed over Jane.
"Just kidding, at night. I'm only alive during the evening," Jane wanted to laugh at her reaction to what she said,but Jane held it.
"Huh!!?" Lali said with a confused face.
"I'm free in the evening and about Aswang, yes I know things about Aswang because I'm Filipino-American," Jane simply explained, starting to walk away. But before she could go too far, Lali caught up to Jane and handed her something.
When Jane got home she posted again a picture of her holding a roses on her Instagram story with a caption of "Another roses, thanks again. Have a beautiful night, I miss and remember him again because of you. I wish he could feel the sun's bright back then.
A week later, every night, Lali always goes to the train station for her.
"I haven't seen her for a week, I'm getting weak, hahaha just kidding," she dramatically and playfully said in her mind.
"Day 20, I'm still waiting, where are you? Aren't you coming back?" She sadly said in her mind.
One month later.
"I miss my safest place," Jane said because she didn't go there for a month.
"I miss the familiar sounds of the train," Jane said. While she was walking in the street going to the train station, she suddenly remembered that flash girl. And how she misses that sweet and cute voice of her.
"Are you kidding me? She's still here and seems like she's waiting for someone. Is she waiting for me? Maybe not, let's just go over and say hi to her," Jane said in her mind.
"Hello," she shyly replied, her face turned like a tomato when Jane said hi to her.
Then as usual she followed Jane again and while she was setting up her chair before she played her guitar, Lali cheered her up.
"It makes me happy and smile like how I smile when I'm with him. It's been a year since I smiled like this," Jane said in her mind. Jane really enjoyed this night with her then they said goodbye to each other. When Jane got home she put the roses she gave on the vase. Another night, another roses.
"I really don't know why I'm so comfortable with her, I feel like I've been with her for a long time. I can't remember it but my heart does, there's something different about her. It's still a puzzle to me why but, we just met last month," Lali said talking to her self.
"See you again Aswang," Lali shouted in the sky.
"Ohh I forgot to ask her why she was gone for a month. But it's okay, at least I got to see her tonight and she had a smile on her face. But, what if she's really an Aswang? Argh! Nevermind. Gosh she's so beautiful," Lali said to her self like she's going to be crazy.

Hi! Was curious what made you more certain recently that McHarrison was for sure a thing?
So it started with this picture
Ringo took it, and in the caption he literally says "caught ya!"
Geo's collar seems to have been recently pulled forward, and the bottom of Paul's shirt looks recently pulled out.
It also looks like Paul quickly stood up when he heard someone coming but was previously in the same position as George.
It might mean nothing but god does it look damning.
And then I started looking at other things I had written off more carefully. All the photos and gifs and videos. Them writing "In Spite of All The Danger" together, and the fact that Paul was still hitchhiking with Geo alone even once John was in the picture.
Not to mention the amount of songs Paul wrote with titles taken from lines in George's songs. The two most painfully obvious ones being "Too Many People" from "Isn't It A Pity," and "Let Me Roll It" from "I'd Have You Anytime." Now why Paul thought a song written with, about and for Bob Dylan had anything to do with him, I'm not sure. But, it's the exact words from the song.
Then I saw this poem. It's called "Rocking On!" and I'm assuming most people think it's about John, but it's very clearly not.
I want to smell your underarm odour want to drink your ice cream soda Reminisce about our childhood What we did in deepest wildwood Let's remember fifties cars And hanging out in late-night bars Want to give your back a rub Then jump into a toamy tub Laugh at all your High School jokes One two many Scotch and Cokes Want to stroke your furry kitten Don't be shy you won't be bitten When we've seen the babies doze off Let me see you take your clothes off When this world is dead and gone We will still be Rocking On!
First off it's very clearly about a male, and a male in the Beatles. But it's more about childhood than it is songwriting, and it's about things children do, like go exploring in the woods. John and Paul just didn't know each other at that age.
Not to mention, the car thing was Geo's THING. He was a HUGE car person and was constantly at races. Geo's interest in cars is one of the things that defined him as he got older. So to specifically comment on that makes it seem obvious it's about George.
And then you read the words and they're GRAPHIC. Rivaling "Savoy Truffle," frankly.
So it wasn't just a crush, it was clearly a THING. They were clearly together, in some way shape or form.
So yeah that was kinda my thought process. Hope it makes you think.

ring pop | l. norris
pairing: lando norris x singer!reader word count: 2k words prompt: letter i: invitation. from this christmas alphabet prompt list. warnings: language,time jumps. a/n: day nine! i accidentally deleted the first draft of this so i had to try my best to remember as much as i could.
my masterlist/ christmas alphabet masterlist
@(y/n)(y/l/n) started following you.
the young brit's eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw the notification on his phone. he'd been proclaiming his undying love and infatuation for the singer since his twitch chat asked him if he met her the first time she attended an f1 race.
he didn't get to meet her that weekend, and everyone had to deal with an extremely annoyed and pouty lando for the next few weeks.
the media loved to bring that subject up every chance they could, asking him if he'd already slid into her dms and asking her if she'd ever accept going out with him.
the game going on in the stream became noise in the background as lando stared at his phone. the people watching the stream noticed, of course, how lando's character kept dying each time the game restarted because he wasn't paying attention to it.
he took a screenshot of the notification, sending it to max. he made up some excuse and let his friends and the rest of the stream know he had to go.
he was looking at her profile, scrolling through the pictures, he'd already liked and left a comment with a white heart on all of them. he decided to post the screenshot he took to instagram.
'i've got the ring ready, guys.' he captioned the photo and posted it to his stories, tagging her.
a few weeks later, she was getting ready to go on 'the tonight show' to promote her one-night-only christmas concert in new york. she glanced at her phone, opening instagram and clicking on the message icon. she couldn't help but sigh, she thought she'd gotten a message by now, but nothing from the young mclaren driver.
a knock on the dressing room door let her know it was time to go do the interview. backstage, her makeup artist touched up the shine on her nose as she heard the host introducing her, she was described as the best new artist of the generation.
it felt surreal, to think about how much her life had changed in the past year and a half, one day she was uploading her covers or her own music on social media, then her songs went viral. and everything turned upside down, for the better.
"so, (y/n), i wanted to ask you... when you were here a couple of months ago we, we talked about your love of formula one," jimmy said and she nodded, a small knot in her stomach forming as she already knew where this was going. "we also talked about a certain driver's very vocal uh- how do i say this... love? crush on you," the host said as a small smile appeared on her face.
"yep, mr. norris," she nodded as a picture of lando appeared in the tiny screen in front of her that showed what the audience were seeing. "there he is," she laughed.
"glad we're on the same page here. now, last time you were here we knew that lando followed you on social media, and you didn't," he continued, she nodded along to what he was saying. "but that changed a couple of days ago, didn't it?" he finished, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
"i don't know, you tell me," she laughed. "you seem to be pretty well informed about everything," she joked, looking at the audience as they laughed as well. "but to answer your question, yes, i realized that i followed almost every driver on the grid except him, so i decided to change that." she explained, straightening the skirt of the dress she wore to avoid letting her anxiety show. "simple as that," she finished.
"is it, though?" jimmy asked. "we noticed he posted a photo with the text, uh, that read 'got the ring ready'." the audience roared and clapped as you watched the story that made your heart leap out of your chest. "any updates on that? your finger looks pretty empty there," he smiled as you both looked down at your hand. you lifted it up to the cameras with a smile.
"it does, doesn't it?" you grinned. "no, i'm kidding, i'm joking. honestly i haven't met him yet, but i think he seems really funny and down to earth, and that's not something that you find a lot these days, you know? especially with being in the public eye a lot," she said as screenshots of tweets where they each talked about the other, but never actually interacted, were shown on the screen.
lando took a selfie. the picture showed a smiling lando, holding a red ring pop as the tv next to him showed a paused frame of (y/n) showing her left hand and smiling. this time, he posted the photo to his timeline instead of his stories, with the caption:
'@(y/n)(y/l/n) i didn't know what flavor you liked... hopefully cherry's okay!' @(y/n)(y/l/n) commented: it's perfect.
on december 20th, (y/n) had finally had enough. her concert was in just three days and since she followed lando on social media, she waited for him to send her a message, then she'd invite him to her concert. but that never happened. no bigger interaction other than a mentioned in a tweet or story, and that frustrated her.
pulling up her big girl pants, she grabbed her phone and after minutes of typing and about five discarded drafts, she sent her message.
'hey! i know the holidays are right around the corner, but i'm having a concert in new york on the 23rd and i want to know if u wanted to come.'
lando stared at his phone, eyes and mouth wide open. he was thankful that he was alone and no one could see him like that, smiling like an idiot as he read over and over again the words she sent his way.
she watched the bubbles appear and disappear about a dozen times, her heartbeat raced each time he began typing a message only to delete it all and begin again seconds later.
'it's fine if u don't want to! it's so soon and i totally get if u already have plans or something.'
she put her phone on do not disturb and went to sleep. meanwhile, lando was in the car with carlos on their way to the golf course, debating with him on what to answer.
"just tell her you want to go! and the sooner you do it the faster you can get her number and ask her out," the older man said as he parked the car.
"i can't just tell her that, i'll look desperate!" lando got out of the car and grabbed his bag with the golf clubs. carlos looked at him with a serious expression.
"have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately?" he asked as lando rolled his eyes, his phone screen was on, with the chat with her opened.
"shut up. i have to reply soon and tell her i do want to go before she thinks i'm not interested in her. i just don't know how to." he scrunched his nose.
he moved his thumb, that was resting on top of the screen, and felt a small vibration as he moved. he panicked instantly, looking at the message he accidentally sent.
"shit, shit, shit," he muttered as he realized he'd accidentally recorded his conversation and sent it as a message to her.
"what?" carlos asked as lando pressed play. they both listener to their previous conversation, an amused smile on carlos' face. "oh, you fucked up," he laughed as he left his friend in the middle of a crisis.
"i'm so sorry you heard that, i promise i didn't mean to send it, it was an accident. oh, my god, and i'm sorry i didn't answer sooner... time difference, you know?" lando recorded another message, cursing himself. "but to answer your question, i... i would love to go, honestly. i- i was actually looking for tickets but they were all sold out," he chuckled. "so, yes. my answer is yes. i'll see you in new york,"
to say she felt nervous would be the understatement of the year. she loved performing, even more, doing so in front of hundreds of people who were all there to see her. it was something so out of this world, to have people willing to spend a night so close to the holidays away from their families, or sometimes make her a part of their holidays by going to her concert with the rest of their families.
but the butterflies in her stomach were for a different reason. for one person in particular. a young brit that was waiting for her backstage. lando kept his hands inside of his jacket pockets, his fingers played together as he waited expectantly.
she opened her dressing room door a bit, startling the mclaren driver. their eyes met, shy smiles on their faces. it was their first time really getting to know each other in person, after countless interactions online.
"h-hi," lando said, feeling his chest tightening. there she was.
"hey, it's great to finally meet you," she answered, feeling the familiar butterflies she felt whenever they spoke. there he was.
"you look beautiful," he looked down at her silver dress, it had sparkly sequins and small encrusted crystals.
"thanks, i've still got to do my hair, but," she shrugged.
"oh, then i'll be going now, don't want to waste your time," he said as he straightened his back and got ready to go to his seat, but she shook her head.
"no, please. why don't you stay while i finish getting ready? we can talk, we've had many online interactions but maybe we can get to know each other a bit more," she bit her lip, her eyes flying down to his lips as she noticed he was smiling again.
there was undeniable chemistry, tension. she could not stop glancing his way as the music played. the night slipped by as she sang her own original songs and covers of classic christmas tunes in front of the most amazing crowd. as she finished one song, her piano was being lifted behind her. she smiled to the crowd as she sat in front of the piano, playing the intro of 'last christmas'.
it was a sad, but hopeful song, about heartbreak and choosing the right person to love. and as she sang about giving her heart to someone special, her eyes fluttered to him. to lando, as he sat with his hands in his pockets, his fingers around the small plastic package.
the sight of her leaning over the piano, back slightly hunched so she could reach the microphone, the lights reflecting the crystals on her dress, making it look like she was shining from the inside out, what a heavenly sight.
she was scooped away for pictures and interviews after the concert, not giving her a chance to speak to lando as a lot of other people demanded her attention at that moment. she saw him waving, saying goodbye. she couldn't even wave back before someone grabbed her hand and led her somewhere else.
she stepped out of the shower with a bathrobe around her body. she was drying her face when she heard a knock on her hotel room door. she frowned, she wasn't expecting any visits, and no one from her team had messaged her.
carefully, she opened the door a tiny bit, peeking her head through the small gap. her heart stopped, she opened the door wide.
"what are you doing here?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest as she bit her lip to prevent her from smiling.
"i have something for you," lando said as he leaned against the wall behind him, she copied him, leaning against the door frame.
"what is it?" she raised an eyebrow. a part of her couldn't believe that he was actually there, at her hotel. she'd thought that the moment the concert ended he'd taken a plane home. she liked that she was wrong.
"you said you liked cherry, so," he smirked as he pulled out a package with a cherry-flavored ring pop inside. she hid her face in her hands, laughing with him.
"i also said it was perfect," she reminded him. "it's late, you shouldn't be out this time of the night," she bit her lip.
"is that an invitation to stay the night?" he asked.
"come in and find out."

things i remember from back when i was terminally online here
- the mishapocalypse. i had no idea what was happening but i was like lmao ok chaos time and joined in
- when everyone said the world was ending in 2012 and homestuck tumblr came up with the concept that, on that day, we all played a giant game of sburb and remade the world
- when the OCs of the two 10k (?) pledgers on the homestuck game's kickstarter got canonically killed off after their appearance in one (1) page, but also they got an insane amount of fanart so maybe it was worth it
- realizing one day i did kinda passively ship hannigram and johnlock simply because of the super aesthetic gif sets and fanart
- a homestuck vriska&kanaya ask-me blog where the art in the answers was somehow styled and animated EXACTLY like homestuck
- when pom gets wi fi came out, and everyone (including me) posted screenshots of it captioned the equivalent of SHE JUST LIKE ME FR. i even changed my blog name to something with the word "pomeranian" in it for some time
- i think i took the word "nightblogging" to heart so much that it's where my sleeping problems really started
- when that one macklemore thrift shop song came out and literally everyone was mentioning it in some way. some homestuck ppl made a cover of it in meenah's pov
- marina & the diamonds and florence & the machine were names i heard like. a lot. but i never really cared about that sort of music so uhh
i will update this as i draw memories from the Pit. although the more i look at things here there are more things i DON'T remember than things i do cbhdjdhdsj

Yom HaShoah
today is Yom HaShoah. it's the Jewish Holocaust Remembrance Day. *This is going to be a very long post*
Here's a couple things:
- if we held a minute of silence for every Holocaust victim, we would be silent for 11.5 years. related to this, on Yom HaShoah in Israel, there is a siren that goes off in the middle of the day and the entire country comes to a complete standstill for 2 minutes. cars-stopped-on-the-highway-people-getting-out-to-stand type of standstill. it's truly one of the most powerful things I have ever experience and it's also genuinely scary. here's a video of it:
youtube
- we are quite possibly the last generation to live amongst Holocaust survivors. LISTEN TO THEM. TALK TO THEM. SHARE THEIR STORIES. don't ever fucking forget. i don't think people understand that its heartbreaking to listen to Shoah survivors and realize they're going to die soon. it's scary if you think about it too hard. it's frightening because it wasn't so long ago (for example, my mom told me that growing up, a lot of her friends parents had numbers tattooed on them from the camps). it's heartbreaking because people deny the Holocaust and want to forget about it as it is and once there are no more survivors it will be easier than ever to do so. to listen and watch some survivor testimonies, go to namesnotnumbers.org or just search "names not numbers" on youtube
- there was something that I saw on social media a while ago thats extremely relevant. it goes something like this: if you're Jewish, you either VIVIDLY remember the first time you heard/learned/were told about the Holocaust or you simply don't remember the first time." to unpack: the second option is scarier because the unsaid part is that you don't remember because it's so prevalent. you don't remember because its always been talked about with/to/around you. it's normal for you to hear about it. that's extremely scary. and for me personally, when i heard this I tried to see if I can recall the first time and I can't. honestly, it gave me a WHOLE new perspective.
- effectively every jewish activist account on social media is posting something right now about this. here's a couple on instagram: @rootsmetals @jewishlgbtq @whatisjudaism @progressivejudaism @jewishpridealways @standwithus theres more, look for them, read the posts.
Watch this:
youtube
it's chilling. its a group of schoolchildren at a Jewish school in 1933 in Munkacs. they are singing the Israeli national anthem, Hatikvah [the Hope]. some of the words are different, instead of it saying "to be a free nation in our land" it says "to dwell in the land of our forefathers." the words are different because this was before the establishment of the modern state of Israel. all of these children were later murdered in the Holocaust (this is paraphrased from @jewishlgbtq's caption on instagram).
and now watch this:
youtube
Koolulam is a group that aims to bring people together in peace through song. This video is of several thousand people singing the song "Chai" ("Life") 3 years ago in honor of Yom HaShoah. all of the people singing in this video are Holocaust survivors and their descendants. this video is full of life and hope.
it's not enough to say "Never Again" or "Never Forget". speak up, stand up, condemn antisemitism, genocide and all forms of hatred. Antisemitism did not start OR end with the Holocaust. in the US, Jews account for ~2% of the population but antisemitism accounts for ~60% percent of religious hate crimes. antisemitism is on the rise according to ADL statistics and it's not always outright "I hate Jews". i STRONGLY encourage you to visit an activist account on instagram because they all have posts on this.
For many people, this day holds greater weight and sorrow than International Holocaust Remembrance Day back in January. Most Jews have ties to the Holocaust and it impacts them to this day. Also, while Jews were not the only victims of the Holocaust, Yom HaShoah is specifically in commemoration of the 6 million Jews who died.
i'll reblog with some way you can commemorate so it's an easier place.
Never Forget, Never Again

I was re-listening to this song earlier, thinking about the different lyrics that have defined my year this year. I thought back to how this one clearly defined February to early March for me but couldn't for the life of me remember the song. I couldn't find it in my search history either until I very suddenly remembered a rough version of the lyrics and beat.
So, why am I making a post about it?
I started listening to it to see if there were any hidden meanings or messages in it that I hadn't seen before when I first heard the cover of this song. I like doing this because whenever I feel called to study music closer, I always end up finding out something that absolutely shocks me.
This song was no different. I guess I was more focused on the vocals when I heard it because I didn't pay any attention to the actual lyrics because I didn't even realize she was talking about new york!! This would be a hundred times funnier if I could tell you anything about who I was showing this cover to at the time because I was probably the only one unaware of what this song was about lmao
As I was listening to the original song and reading the lyrics that I saw a video with the original singer, Suzanne Vega, talking about the meaning of the song. The video follows her around New York City as she discusses the story behind the lyrics. It took a minute for me to register what city she was in because the captions were in Dutch, so my brain assumed it was the Netherlands or something. But I recognized the areas she was walking through, and then I realized she was saying the entire song was based on an actual restaurant in New York. I've never been to that restaurant a day in my life, but as soon as I saw it, I was so certain that I'd been there. It could also have a small thing to do with the fact that my mom watched Seinfeld religiously when I was a child, but whatever.
Anyway, she also walked past this cathedral, which she mentioned in the song, and I immediately screamed because I was like I've been there! I've seen that cathedral! The above picture was taken one day after I turned thirteen in like August 2012. That same day, I walked to Washington Square Park, and took photos of the arch, and I don't have any idea where exactly this was, but I walked into the coolest costume shop ever and I think I bought a masquerade mask there (which I still have).
I remember seeing a man in a bunny costume just walking (or hopping?) down the street. I also remember seeing two people completely naked and going at it on a cardboard box in an alley in broad daylight, which I still find absolutely hilarious. I also almost got hit by a car (more than likely) on this day. And I don't mean that in a "a new york driver drove really fast past me and I worried I was going to get hit because no one actually seems to follow any pedestrian laws" sense, but more like in the sense that this man actually almost hit me because I was walking alone and I have a phobia of moving cars, so when he was coming at me, I just froze up and he looked freaked tf out too. (this was also why i wasn't allowed to walk around new york by myself, because i struggled to even cross the street unless someone was holding my hand)
It was actually on E 21st street, right next to Gramercy Park. I was on my way back home from the huge Barnes and Noble on 17th street. I had expected to meet my true love that day, instead I nearly met my untimely death!
For a long time, there was no city I wanted to visit less than New York City. My family lives there, and there are so many other reasons that made me not want to ever go again. But regardless of that fact, there's a moment when you first enter the city from out of state, right before the smell of hot, wet garbage absolutely knocks you out, where the air smells sweet and savory and like cinnamon, depending on where you come in at. There's the wonderfully thrilling moment when you enter the Lincoln tunnel at night, and the cars light up the inside of the tunnel and if you don't think about what might be on those walls, you want to reach out and run your hands all over the walls and remember that texture forever. During the day was just as wonderful because the tunnel was so dark, and when you ended up on the other side after a twelve hour road trip, everyone would squeal and cheer with relief because it meant we were finally there.
And maybe I saw two people having sex on a dilapidated cardboard box, and hid all my belongings in my shoes because I was terrified of getting mugged. But I'll never forget the snow. I'll never forget getting pizza with my aunt and it raining on the way home, so the pizza was completely drenched and just salty and gross and soggy but still so good. Maybe 99% of me hates it so much, but 1% of me goes back to a time in my life where I just had to see the Chelsea hotel, and where I walked through Central Park and heard music playing and so much energy around me.
I'll never forget sneaking out of my grandma's apartment and leaving her door cracked open like the little southern dumbass I am and waving at a girl who told me to fuck off in response while I was walking (that definitely pissed me off btw). I'll never forget fainting when I got home because I never drank water and have never been able to handle heat a day in my life. Us southern girls can't go an hour, let alone a whole month without AC. For some god awful reason, when I was growing up, I rarely entered a store that had it. I'm a little convinced on this fact alone that most new yorkers have a penchant for sadism or something because I know I'm not the only one who wants to jump off a building kermit style being in that heat.
It hits me so randomly sometimes and I miss New York so much it hurts. I'll just think, "I should have gone to NYU, I should have never listened to my dad. I should have tried going to Columbia like I wanted to." or "I miss the lights and cars." In the south, we have crickets, cicadas and the rumble of trains miles away. The crickets and cicadas get so loud it's almost impossible to sleep until it isn't, and then it becomes hard to sleep without. It's the same in New York. The sounds of cars and loud talking and beeps and life gets so loud that it's almost impossible to sleep until it isn't. And then when you go home to the cicadas and the crickets and the trains, all you can think about is how much you miss the sounds of the same cars you used want to shout at.
I never miss New York until it's late at night, and I can remember the nights I used to sit up on my grandma's windowsill, trying desperately to steal wifi from the neighbors next door, or trying to sleep and staring at the plastic aquarium nightlight that she kept on the shelf until I drifted off. It was the most boring city on earth before I started sneaking out. I wasn't allowed to leave the apartment, there were a solid four good channels (I watched so much degrassi, boy meets world, maury and H20: Just add water), no wifi, no books to read or crafts to do or anything. I just had to sit there and watch people walk past all day.
And when I started sneaking out, I'd go to the NYU campus and any park I could find, and I'd pretend that I was going to walk past or meet the person who I'd spend the rest of my life with. I never did, but it's okay. The experience was better than anything I could have imagined. I'd go to costume stores, and art stores, and bookstores and I'd explore all the places I could find. Sometimes I wish I had been bold enough to use the money my parents gave me to go do stuff, like take theater classes or something. They definitely never would have known.
I miss the assumption that I would always go back to that place.
That one day I'd go and see the places my brother should have taken me to like he promised. All the cheesy places like Ellis Island (so I can see where my great grandfather first entered the US at age 12!!), or the top of the Empire State building or the Brooklyn Bridge. I'd actually do anything to at least see Brooklyn. But it would be a bit too painful, and I don't even know what I'd do there anyway. Probably take a picture, post it on Instagram and say, "Brooklyn in Brooklyn! bah dum tsss!"
Anyway, so clearly this song took me down memory lane lol

Normal girl (2)
Note: i just edit this chapter a bit and added more dialog. Someone messaged me and helped me out with a few things, thank you!
Chapter 2:
Walking side by side down the stairs, you took a sip of your coffee and place your herd of keys the side of your book bag. yume was scrolling through her phone on tik tok, drinking from her coconut Carmel ice coffee. You didn't understand why she was drinking ice coffee in mid February, it was cold. It was surprising their wasn't any snow.
Grinning like an idiot, she shaked your shoulder, positioning her phone in front of you–you both watched the tik tok. You didn't laugh at first only smiling, yume kept gesturing you to keep watching, waiting for the punchline. Finally it came up and you both started laughing, you slowly shaked your head placing your hand over your mouth.
"NOOO, nooo. That was so wrong, yall are going to hellll" you whined out.
Yume wiped the tears from her face and continued down the last step. She opened up the door and slid out, you trialing behind her. You both proceeded to walk down the street, where all the park cars were out.
"We riding in rich today girlie, jump in," she lifted up her arm that held her drink, her other reached into her purse and grabbed her car keys.
"I thought we were gonna walk there? It's only 10 minutes." You headed towards her car as she unlocked it and sat in the driver's seat. She had a 2018 dark Grey Nissan altima. You remember her having this ever since junior year, you recalled her talking about getting a newer model since this one was old. Like girl what? Old your ass, if the car still functioning there ain't no problem. White people shit, man.
"Well, it's the first day of sweet college life," she dragged out the last few words, adding a sarcastic tone. Yume tossed her bag in the backseat through the open space from the front, She dropped her drink in the little cup holder as well. Catching up with her, you open the backseat's door and chucked your bag in there–immediately closing it after. You pull the passengers door open and sat down, closing it behind you. Yume did the same–letting out a large sigh as she used her long sleeve to rub her legs, which were freezing.
"Bruh, you were just cold. Shouldn't have wore that skirt knowing it was this cold. Your mother would be disappointed," you moved your head side ways, pretending to be disappointed. You dropped your dunkin' drink in the other cup holder next to hers.
"Y/n, shut upp." Rolling her eyes jokingly, She grabbed the buckled next to her seat and puts it on. You placed your seat belt on too. Automatically, her phone connected to the car, you check over at the screen in the middle. It had the time, the degrees outside and all that other fancy things.
"Wanna play something?" she inserted the keys into the ignition and started the car.
"Yeah, I'll type it in,"
You grabbed her phone, showing the screen to her to unlock it, automatically recognizing her face– the lock screen slid up, revealing all her apps. You went to spotify and played "C U Girl" by Steve lacy.
"OKAAYYY, MS. INDIE TIK TOKER." Yume said nodding her, jamming to song. It was only going to be a 5 minute drive, or 7 if you guys couldn't find parking. She swerved to the left, leaving her parking space and pulling off. You whipped out your phone and paused your music, rapidly switching to snapchat–you heard yume's loud singing.
"I WANNA SEE YOU GUURRLL, I WANNA PLEASE YOU GIRL....GO AHEAD AND BE YOUR GIRL," This girl was jamming her out heart out, steve lacy was her favorite along with Brent faiyaz and many others.
In response, you started cackling as you hit the record button—swiftly turning over it to the driver. Her black ponytail moving as she sang and motioning her head in all different directions. Eyeing towards your direction she sees the phone and leans towards the camera flashing a smile, moving her head side to side—still singing through the lyrics. Yume returned back to the road as she lightly taps the steering, avoiding the horn of course.
Once the quick little vid was done, you added a caption,
"I swear if we crash😭😭💕"
Your thumb jolted between posting it on your private or public. You decided to post on the public story because why not? The song was over pretty quickly as the next one played.
"Who knew white people had rhythm?!" It was obviously sarcasm. You knew she was half Asian but it was fun always calling out her white side.
"Naaahh, white people don't have any rhythm. What you saw there was my miki matsubara pop out". She eases down her breaks– the traffic light turns red. Miki Matsubara? Oh yeah, it's that woman who sung "stay with me". It was a good song, you were obsessed with the chorus mostly.
You giggled a bit at her remark, you checked your socials once again.
"If this light doesn-" Yume sentence was cut off by the light turning green. She pressed her foot on the gas and carried on with attending class.
~~~
Pulling up to the parking lot, yume leaned towards her wheel, searching for a place to park. She slowly went down each isle searching for a vacant lot she could snag. You had your drink in between your lips, you took the last sip and shook the plastic cup trying to get a little more. All you heard was ice rattling against one another, dropping the cup back in the holder. You peer out the window looking at the campus, there were a ton of kids, like a lot. Anxiety began spiking up through your veins, this really is the college life, huh? Maria University. It was a school for literally anything, it was one of the biggest universities in the country as well being highly diverse. Yume would be allll the way on the other side of campus while you're slightly in the middle.
"Uggghhh! I regret not leaving earlier, I don't see any open slots." She whined. This was her 2nd time driving around the parking lot looking for a space.
"I said we should walk but nahhh, you wanted to be lazy and take the car." You rolled your eyes as yume, exaggerating, throwing your hands in the air. But you weren't going to be late on the first day. As the generous queen you are, you aided your roomie with looking a space to park. After analyzing for a few moments, you spotted a space and immediately tapped at the window, pointing towards it. Yume car swerved to the left, sliding right into the parking. Taking her keys out the hole, she grabbed her drink and headed out.
"No leaving trash in my car, miss L/n!"
You grabbed your plastic cup and opened the passenger door.
"Yes ma'am," you opened the backseat and grabbed the two bags and closed the door. Beep yume locked her car. She was sipping her coffee but gave a bitter expression when her sweet drink was watered down because of the ice. You looked at your phone, checking the time:
[Andyhas]: CRONA BECK started following you and 48 others.
Your phone was blowing up from insta notifications. It was time for class and you weren't sure how long it'll even take you to find your classroom. Slinging the bag over your shoulder, you handed yume her own, which she grabbed. You both were speed walking, despite her coffee being ruined she still continued to drink it. It was for the caffeine you guessed. Reaching the sidewalks, it was time to part ways. Yume turned her face towards yours pouting.
"We're leaving each other nooww," she stuck out her bottom lip staring at you. You grabbed her arm, pulling her closer to you. Her arms slithered around your waist, resting her chin on your shoulder–giving you a warm hug. You returned the hug by grunting and holding her tightly.
She started giggling and patted your back a few times, you released your grip and she started to jog in the other direction while looking back, waving at you. You waved back hollering a "BYEEEE!" A trash can was next to you so you dumped your empty dunkin' there.
It was now time for your own adventure, to find this damn classroom. You click the play button on your phone's lock screen, "baby powder by Jenevieve began playing. (Play the song whores👩🏾💻)
Walking downwards to the left side of campus, you searched for a pair of doors to go inside of. At this moment, you regretted not going to orientation. That day you were busy setting up your website for your makeup line. You haven't released any products yet, but you had plentiful of ideas and themes you wanted to do. Since it was black history month, maybe you'll drop something as simple as a face cream to help clear and brighten up the skin. But you discarded that thought because you weren't anywhere near ready to start your own small business. Plus, you had bigger things to worry about.
Standing in front of double doors, you grab the handles and pulled it back, you stepped inside while students behind you did the same. You came in slowly, admiring the interior. It was hella spacy with paintings and photos hanging along the walls. Students were roaming the hallways going back and forth from classrooms. Most of the students seemed to be in some sort of costume, or they were dressed fairly well like they were models. You didn't know the directions to your designated class, so you took up the courage to ask someone. You turned to search for someone who didn't seem busy, since most people were rushing to class. Finally you laid eyes on q girl leaning against the wall, typing on her phone. She had long pink acrylic nails, her blonde hair tied into a low ponytail, which complimented her pale skin tone. She had a gold nose piercing on the right nostril.
She seemed nice enough, so you decided to approach her.
"Um excuse me, do you know where Mr. Fargo's class is at?"
The blonde girl averted her eyes from her phone, now focusing on you.
"I'm not really sure—um, I believe it's down that way." She pointed to the right of her.
"Mr. Fargo, he's teaches cosmetic right?"
"Yeah," you replied
"Then I think it should be down there." She scrunched her face in a confusing manner, meaning not to take her word for granted. But you couldn't care less, it was worth a try.
"Ight, thank you." You bid her goodbye. Oop. You accidentally switched your lingo. You were used to speaking in AAVE but you knew how to change your tone and wordplay around others who weren't African American. The girl didn't seen to notice so you just continued down the hall.
"Down... here right..? Yeah this is the way," you murmured to yourself while you strut down the hall. Then turned left as the lady told you. You were now at a hall with multiple doors. Out of all them, you forget the most important, class started in five minutes. You looked to the left as your braids swayed with your movement, then searched to the right. You walked down the hallway, stopping at the fifth door on the left. You were hesitant with grabbing the door, you didn't want to make a fool of yourself walking into the wrong room as all eyes are on you. You pulled out your phone and texted yume.
(I did a different message format just in the previous was confusing)
You decided to take your roomie's advice and pick a class, which you already did.
You dropped your phone back into your jacket pocket and swung open the door–you were prepared for the stares. The classroom was vacant, not even a teacher in sight. Just a bunch of stools and white pull down screens. You saw a few cameras standing in front of these screens. "Was this the photography class or sum?" You mumbled to yourself.
And well, eyes were on you but it wasn't a herd as you expected, just one. Sitting on one of the stools in front of the door, was pale skin boy with long brown hair. It rested at his shoulders, some of it covering his face even. He seemed around 6ft, or 6 ft 2? You couldn't really tell since he was sitting.
He had on some black jeans with a black long sleeve sweatshirt as well with a beige greenish short sleeve unbutton shirt rested on top of it– a long golden key necklace dangled from his chest. His hands were sitting between his lap, you noticed sliver rings on them.(his outfit for people who need help visualizing) The teal eyed boy was also rocking black & white air Jordan 1 retro, literally the same as you.
You screamed internally at how fine this man looked and he had shoe gang? Uggghh. Class been started and you were going to be late on your first because this OBVIOUSLY wasn't your class. You decided to break the awkward silence and speak,
"Hey, um, is this Mr. Fargos class?" You stepped more into the classroom for the brunette male to hear you.
"Wrong one, babe. His class is in a totally different building." A different building?! You wanted to die right there and then, especially after hearing him laugh after his statement. Not just the wrong class but the wrong building? Bye–you're so stupid. His eyes scanned your body, his eyes lingered a bit longer at your shoes–it seems he noticed. A smirk appeared on his lips after finishing his quick outfit interrogation–wait, did he just call you-? I-, yes he did. You tried your best to hide your smile and not react.
"O-ooo, I got it. Thanks" Eren released a small chuckled seeing your reaction, he could tell you were caught up with the little pet name.
"I'll walk you over there." He got off his stool and walked towards your direction.
"I-, nah it's good, I got it." You said in defense not wanting to bother him. He didn't respond and just passed by you, exiting the classroom. He held onto the door, looking at you.
"You coming or no?" He was so nonchalant with it everything. You smiled a bit and walked out the class alongside with him. He released his grip once you were out and started trialing behind you.
You paused for a moment because you didn't know where you were going. You turned back to look at him, he caught on and let out an "ah". He quickly got in front of you as you proceeded behind him.
"So," he said.
"What?" You replied. Why did he start a sentence and not finish it? Was he expecting you to start the conversation, weirdo. You just wanted to get to class l.
"Oo, sassy are we?" He raised a brow.
"What—? boy, say what you wanna say."
Once again, he let out a chuckle, flashing you a small. God, was his laugh attractive.
"You're into makeup and stuff?" He questioned.
"Yeah, I'm into 'makeup and stuff' " You said the last few words in the mocking tone, referring to what he called cosmology.
"That's good, at least I'll be seeing you often."
"Often? Oh, are you in that major also?" You said.
"No...Do you really not know anything?" He made you feel dumb by his response. How were you suppose to know what he meant? You clicked your teeth and started walking ahead. You pushed back the door that lead to another hallway and walked towards the end to push the second door that lead to another building.
The brunette boy watched as you left him behind in the dirt, waiting for the moment you'll turn the wrong corner—so he could tease you about it then correct you.
It wasn't too long till you reached your destination, you both stopped in front of the class's door.
"Well, see you. I hope you don't make snarky remarks to every girl you meet."
"Nah, only you princess." He had a smirk on his face, ooo! You wanted to wipe it off.
You glanced at him and his eyes were already on you, you broke eye contact and reached for the handle.
"Wait–" you whipped your heard back.
"Yeah?"
He cleared his throat
"Name's Eren," you let out a small giggle, did he really just stop you to say his name? Puhleasee. Hearing your laugh, his face brightened up and kept his eyes on you.
"Okay, Eren~. Thank you for walking me, I gotten get to class now."
You opened the door and stepped inside. Eren didn't even get a chance to ask your name. Luckily for him, your major mingled a lot with his own, he could only hope to see you again around campus.
