klance x pirates of the caribbean
bc apparently when i'm upset i listen to newsies live and think up weird klance aus
in my head this could go one of two ways:
keith and lance as will and elizabeth
keith and lance as jack and will (i'll explain later)
a lot more under the cut bc i got a bit carried away...
if it follows the canon love story i picture lance as will and keith as elizabeth. (i could see it the other way around bc keith could be the orphan pirate boy but i’ve written too much to go back now).
when they were young, keith was on a ship with his father and he spots lance on a piece of driftwood. they save him ofc and keith spots a jewel necklace around lance's neck. he takes it and later has it fused in the hilt of his mother's knife that is now his.
keith hates being the governor's son with a passion. he hates the formality of it and how restrictive it is. lance is the weaponsmaster's apprentice (that's how he gets good with a gun) and he is always under appreciated! give this guy some recignition!
anyway, he has been silently pining for keith for ages. little does he know, keith kind of likes him too. a lot of mutual pining has been going on for longer than either can recall.
anyhoo, pirates invade the town and kidnap keith. he puts up a fight but in the end he's outnumbered and taken aboard the ship as leverage. he says his surname is mcclain bc it's on his mind. wink wonk. captain of the evil pirates is zarkon and when the pirates who kidnapped keith hand him the knife he realises it is the jewel that can break their spell. since keith uses lance's surname, he also thinks it is keith's blood they need to finish the ritual since lance's family are the one's who sent the jewel away with lance. but it's not. obvs.
lance, after saving a baby, watches keith get taken in horror and tries to call out but is knocked out before he can act. once he's awake he hears that there's a pirate who was caught in the dungeon. that's allura. yes, eccentric captain allura is a choice i am making.
lance manages to break her out of jail, thinking she is one of the evil pirates and he can persuade her to help him. she is not but decides to help him anyway in an attempt to retrieve her ship 'the voltron' from zarkon. the two of them go off on a quest to save keith.
meanwhile, hunk and pidge are guarding keith. they are new recruits to zarkon's crew after their other crew threw pidge out when they discovered she was a girl (silly pirate superstitions). hunk went with her. they are easily persuaded to help keith bc zarkon's a meanie and promise that they'll help him out when they make it to land.
lance and allura arrive on an island and find coran who is allura's closest friend and ally. shiro is also there. he has a peg arm (is that a thing? idk it's a weird mechanism but it does the trick). coran explains that the ship keith is on is cursed and they will be going to the mysterious isle of daibazaal to break the curse.
they get there and watch zarkon attempt to break the curse using the jewel (which he pried out of the blade) and keith's blood. nah, it don't work. they still turn into creepy looking skeletons in the moonlight. damn. he threatens keith and then all hell breaks loose bc lance shoots him. it would have definitely killed zarkon but he can't die bc... the whole undead thing, and in doing so all lance does is reveal their position. they fight a bit, as you do. keith gets hold of a sword and kills three evil pirates in about five seconds. lance falls a little bit in love with him.
in the midst of the battle, lance makes a deal with zarkon that he will stay if keith and the others can go (this now includes hunk and pidge bc they helped keith get free). lance is stripped of visible weapons and zarkon agrees to break the curse immediately. lance cuts his hand and drops the jewel into the chest.
then he grabs keith's jewel-less knife from where it lies beside the chest. zarkon, distracted, doesn't notice until the blade is buried in his gut. he dies. keith and the rest act immediately and kill any other pirates who don't surrender. keith kills an evil pirate about to shoot lance.
they return keith in exchange for allura, coran, shiro, pidge, hunk and lance's pardon. keith expresses his wish not to be governor in the future and allura invites them on 'the voltron' ship with her since she reclaimed it from zarkon. keith and lance then have a moment where they thank each other for saving each other's life. keith thanks lance for coming after him and lance confesses. it's all very sappy and they kiss for ages.
OR
lance is still will. i stand by everything i said about him in the previous version. his parents caused the curse to endure and sent him off. but instead of keith finding him, it's allura. she's the governor's (in this case, alfor's) daughter. she takes the jewel and keeps it as a necklace. lance and allura are more like besties but they're not really allowed to see each other because of their differing classes.
keith arrives and escapes the navy. hides in weaponsmaster’s shop. lance tries to fight him but he’s not as good with a sword as he is with a gun. lots of sassy banter where lance is tryna be noble and keith doesn’t care for it.
anyway, we sort of know what happens. allura gets kidnapped and uses lance's surname bc they had a conversation beforehand. lance stresses, hears about a pirate they captured, assumes it's one of the evil ones he can persuade to help him.
but instead he gets keith who he met earlier. in the time they’ve been apart he’s got himself landed in the dungeon. and he’s notoriously one of the most stubborn, grumy pirate captains in all the seven seas.
he's overall unimpressed with lance as a person and with his plan, only agreeing when he realises he might be able to get his ship, this time called 'the red lion', back. lance decides he's going to prove himself to keith. he doesn't know why he's so offended by a pirate's opinion but he just is. hmmm...
they pick up shiro and coran, pidge and hunk promise to help allura out yada yada yada and they start making their way towards the island.
they run into lotor and his crew (acxa, ezor, zethrid etc) who are unrelated to zarkon and that whole... thing but they're your typical pirates and they want their stuff. which is annoying af bc allura is missing and they have somewhere to be thank you very much.
they put up a good fight. lance has plenty of opportunities to impress keith with his pistol skills. consider keith very impressed and mildly enamoured. but he doesn't do feelings so he stuffs them down inside him as you do. they win and move on. afterwards keith asks lance where he learned those moves and lance tells him stories of his time in the weaponsmaster's workshop. they bond.
they get to the island and find allura. they fight and keith and lance save each other's backs too many times to count. lance has a revelation (inconveniently mid battle) that he actually really likes this. this is fun. this is exciting.
then keith fucks up. he says that he'll hand lance over if zarkon gives him his ship back. lance is fucking fuming and feeling very betrayed and hurt bc he actually felt like he was getting somewhere with keith. keith gets what he deserves though bc zarkon dumps him and allura on an island and takes lance away.
while they're on the island allura knocks some sense into him regarding his life generally and lance specifically. she tells him loads of cute lance-as-a-teenager stories and keith feels awful. he helps her light a signal fire using some rum he has on his person.
they spot the ship alfor sent to find allura. they persuade them to go to where lance and the rest of the crew is. keith tries to act like he's on zarkon's side when they get back to the cave and then he takes one of the cursed jewels so he's now immortal. aha! while this is happening allura has infiltrated zarkon's ship, 'the red lion', so shiro, coran, pidge and hunk can be freed.
allura then frees lance from where they were keeping him in the hull. lance runs to where keith is. they share a look. keith cuts his hand and throws the jewel to lance who does the same and drops it into the water. the curse is broken. keith goes to grab zarkon's sword so he can kill him but zarkon grabs him by the throat. lance shoots zarkon in the side before keith can pass out. he runs to keith who has collapsed. keith apologises and thanks him and promises not to betray him again. lance laughs, says he better not and helps him up.
they return allura safely in exchange for their pardon. keith asks lance to join the crew of 'the red lion' and gives him loads of reasons that are really just disguised compliments. safe to say lance kisses him senseless and they run away together, sailing off into the sunset. bc. klance. there's got to be a sunset somewhere.
hope you liked my what-were-meant-to-be-headcanons-but-just-became-plot-summaries!! i promise i’ll post some general pirate voltron headcanons unrelated to this au at some point. i wrote a pirate au piece for klance au month on my ao3 so some might be related to that?
if you want to send asks or whatever that would be cool - even if they're just random ideas for the au or changes/additions to the plot. i also might write little snippets for this at some point (i’ll tag them under ‘kl potc au’ like this post) bc i'm suddenly crazy invested so if you have any scenes from this you want (from version 1 or 2 or any scene in the plethora of potc movies) send a message and i'll probably get around to it :))

VLD S8E9: Knights of Light, Part 1
Season 8 Episode 9: Knights of Light, Part 1
Transcript by @dragonofyang
Summary: After taking the dark entity within herself, Allura discovers she’s now mentally linked to Honerva. Using this connection to reach into Honerva’s mind with the help of the other paladins, they discover that there are more ghosts haunting her than they realized.
[Google Doc]
Honerva’s Voice: Allura. Allura. Allura. Allura… Allura!
Lance: Allura, are you okay?
Allura: What’s going on? Where am I?
Coran: You’re in the medical bay.
Lance: When we got back from Clear Day, we found you collapsed on the ground.
Coran: You’ve been asleep for two quintants. The entity, it’s missing. Did you…?
Allura: I did what needed to be done.
Coran: No.
Lance: What needed to be done? What are you talking about?
Allura: This entity, it is connected to Honerva in some way. I believe we can use it.
Lance: Use it? I…
Coran: I swore to your father that I would look after you, but I fear I may have let him down. This is the path of darkness.
Allura: It is the path toward defeating Honerva.
[Scene change to Shiro approaching a door, where he is greeted by the paladins.]
Shiro: You wanted to see me?
Pidge: We’ve been working on something, and we thought we’d run it by you.
Keith: We think we might have a way to find Honerva.
Allura: The entity has bonded me to Honerva. The link is there whether we utilize it or not. I believe that if the Paladins connect using the shared consciousness of Voltron, we may be able to travel through the void and into Honerva’s mind.
Pidge: That could, in theory, give us access to her physical location, as well as key information on how to defeat her.
Hunk: Which, after what happened the last time we faced her, could be super useful.
Keith: Honerva is capable of creating galactic Komars, wormholes, robeasts, and now Lotor and his mech are out there somewhere. She is the single greatest threat the universe has ever faced, and we don’t have any other leads. It might take lifetimes for another opportunity like this to come around. We think this is worth the risk.
Shiro: I spent a lot of time in the infinite void. It took all my strength not to lose my sanity. And if you face Honerva in the void, she will win. But, if you can find a clue that leads to defeating Honerva and Lotor, it could give us the upper hand in this fight.
Lance: I don’t like the idea of using Allura like this. We’re messing with powers we don’t fully understand that have ruined countless lives. It’s… it’s dangerous.
Allura: Lance, we’re the Paladins of Voltron. There’s no one more capable of taking this on. It has to be us.
Lance: Let’s do it.
Allura: Besides, the team will have our sharpshooter there to keep us safe.
Lance: I knew that nickname was gonna catch on one of these days.
Coran: It’s been a long time since it was only the seven of us in a room together.
Keith: Let’s make sure it’s not the last.
[Cut to Keith in Black Lion as Voltron powers up.]
Lance: Allura, are you okay?
Allura: I’m fine.
[Scene change to Veronica on the bridge.]
Veronica: It doesn’t seem fair that he won with a robot arm.
Iverson: Ah, almost everyone had a robot arm. The last guy had two robot arms.
Shiro: The lions are launching. Put the Atlas on high alert. Iverson, power up the Atlas’ weapons. Veronica, make sure the shield system is go.
Veronica: High alert? What’s going on?
Shiro: We’re just being careful. The Atlas needs to be prepared for any eventuality.
[Cut to Allura in Blue Lion.]
Allura: It is time to begin.
[Scene change to the astral plane.]
Hunk: Now what?
Keith: Allura, do you feel anything?
Allura: We must travel through that light!
Hunk: It looks so far away. How do you know?
Allura: The entity draws me toward it!
Lance: What is this place? It’s like… it’s like I can hear what the universe is thinking.
Pidge: Remember how the Olkari told me that everything is made of the same energy? I think it has something to do with that.
Hunk: So, thoughts are linked across some kind of, what, cosmic connection?
Keith: Yeah, but I think we are the thoughts inside a network of other people’s thoughts.
Lance: Oh, this is making my head hurt.
Hunk: Yeah, I’m actually with Lance on this one.
Allura: If we are to--[screams]
[Cut to the Atlas bridge.]
Coran: I’m detecting fluctuations in Voltron’s energy signature. Should we do anything?
Shiro: Hold.
[Cut back to the Paladins in the astral plane.]
Lance: What was that?
Hunk: It felt like cold water running down my spine.
Allura: That was Honerva.
Lance: What?
Allura: The entity inside of me is connected to her.
Hunk: Wait, then why did we feel it?
Keith: It must be because we’re all connected through Voltron.
Allura: Yes. The psychic link between us is now shared with Honerva. The closer we are to her, the stronger that link.
Lance: This is too dangerous. Honerva is gonna use the connection to find us, to find you.
Allura: No, this is how we are going to find her, but first, I must learn how to utilize this energy to do so.
Keith: This isn’t just on you now, Princess. We’re all in this together. Maybe if we concentrate, we’ll be able to feel her energy. Then we can track it back to its source. Let’s all focus.
Hunk: This is awesome!
[Scene change to a wide starry scape with two planets visible as Voltron flies by.]
Hunk: I can feel something, like an energy inside me.
Allura: It’s the entity.
Lance: This feeling, it’s like…
Keith: Like a dark realization washing over.
Pidge: It’s like we’re being pulled by a tether connected to our souls.
Allura: We’re getting closer. This way.
Hunk: Is this Honerva’s mind?
Allura: It’s on the other side of this wall.
Pidge: What is this?
Allura: It feels like… like these are the souls that Honerva has defeated and corrupted. It’s terrible.
Hunk: Of course we’re gonna have to get on the other side of the--what?
Pidge: Allura!
Keith: Come on! No! Come on!
[Scene change to Pidge inside Honerva’s mind, a green and black plain lit by stars.]
Pidge: Guys? Where am I? Guys, do you copy? Guys?! Team, can you hear me?
[Cut to Hunk inside Honerva’s mind, a yellow and black plain lit by stars.]
Hunk: Hello! Anyone?
[Cut to Lance in a red and black plain lit by stars.]
Lance: Team! Something severed our connection!
[Cut to Allura in a blue and black plain lit by stars.]
Allura: Paladins, respond! Why can you not hear me?
[Cut to Keith, on the black plain that shields Honerva’s mind.]
Keith: There has to be a way in. I can’t feel them.
[Cut to Pidge.]
Pidge: I can’t even feel my lion!
[Cut to Hunk, then Allura.]
Allura: Paladins! I will not let you hurt us any longer! This is some kind of horrible ruse and you will pay dearly for it. Time to end this!
[Flash back to the Castle of Lions armory.]
Alfor: Your suits of armor.
Trigel: They’re incredible.
Zarkon: We will be a force to be reckoned with in these armaments.
Gyrgan: They stretch, right?
Alfor: Yes, Gyrgan, they mold to fit their paladin.
Trigel: When will your wonders end, Alfor?
Alfor: Interesting you should mention that. I have one more piece of equipment for all of you.
Zarkon: What are they?
Alfor: I call them bayards. Now, each bayard is crafted with a small fragment of the comet’s ore.
Zarkon: With this much power, we will be unstoppable.
Alfor: They can create powerful weapons, but they can also act as a key bridging a paladin’s essence with their lion. Only so long as we fight together as a single unit. To defend the universe.
All: To defend the universe!
[Flash forward to return to Allura and Blaytz in the blue and black plain of Honerva’s mind.]
Allura: It’s really you.
[Cut to Pidge and Trigel in the green and black plain.]
Pidge: Your soul! Honerva must have--
[Cut to Hunk and Gyrgan in the yellow and black plain.]
Hunk: --trapped you here somehow! Please, I don’t want to fight you!
[Cut to Lance and Alfor in the red and black plain.]
Lance: Please! Remember who you are!
[Cut to Allura and Blaytz in the blue and black plain again.]
Allura: Blaytz, please.
[Flash back to the Castle of Lions on Altea.]
Alfor: Make no mistake, Zarkon is coming.
Trigel: Then we use the lions, fight him until our last breath.
Alfor: I am not certain we can win this fight. We cannot risk Voltron falling into his hands. We will utilize our lions to seal the Black Lion. Once we are done, we will send our lions as far away as possible. Coran, you and the Castle of Lions will take the Black Lion away.
Coran: You would have me leave your side at the very end?
Alfor: No. I would have you stand by my daughter’s. I am entrusting you with what is most precious to me in this entire universe, Coran.
Coran: It will be my greatest honor.
Gyrgan: Then it is decided. We go into battle together, one last time.
Alfor: To defend the universe.
All: To defend the universe.
[Flash forward to Trigel and Pidge in the green and black plain.]
Trigel: What… Where am I?
[Cut to Hunk and Gyrgan in the yellow and black plain.]
Hunk: You’re in the void just outside of Honerva’s mind. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true.
[Cut to Blaytz and Allura in the blue and black plain.]
Blaytz: Are the visions from the lions true?
[Cut to Alfor and Lance in the red and black plain.]
Alfor: Has it really been ten thousand years?
Lance: It has.
[Cut to Hunk and Gyrgan in the yellow and black plain.]
Gyrgan: It saddens me greatly to learn that Zarkon wreaked such destruction in our absence.
Hunk: But not completely. Voltron was reformed and the Paladins fly together again.
Gyrgan: I have always believed that unity is where true power comes from, and true unity can only be born of love.
[Cut to Trigel and Pidge in the green and black plain.]
Trigel: I can’t tell you how much it warms my heart to know that someone so connected to the world around her is piloting the Green Lion. My race believes observation to be the most revered attribute. It is where intelligence is born. And for you, it is where it has thrived. The infinite abilities of your mind dwarf the smallness of your size. The Green Lion could not have found a more perfect Paladin.
[Cut to Blaytz and Allura in the blue and black plain.]
Blaytz: People often overlooked me because I was different, but the Blue Lion recognized something in me, something others couldn’t see. It saw the greatness within that even I did not. You, Allura, have greatness within you, as well. You’re so much like your father, and yet so different. You’re a remarkable person. Thank you for saving us.
[Cut to Alfor and Lance in the red and black plain.]
Alfor: Through the lion’s bond, I could feel your love for my daughter.
Lance: I could feel yours, as well.
Alfor: As Paladins, we face many quests throughout the cosmos, but the most amazing journey is that of life. And the biggest question you face is who to go on that journey with. I’m glad my daughter chose you.
[Cut to Keith on the black plain at the boundary of Honerva’s mind.]
Keith: Please. You’re back. You guys are alright. Wait, are they the…
Pidge: Yep, the original paladins.
Alfor: Allura! It is fitting that I would find what is brightest to me in the darkest place.
Allura: All that I have done, I have done to make you proud.
Hunk: Their souls were trapped by Honerva’s dark magic. When we came near Honvera’s consciousness, our connection attracted them to us. Crazy, right?
Pidge: But we used that connection to free them. The lions created a bridge, sharing old memories with new.
Alfor: What’s going on?
Allura: Honerva’s connection grows. We are very close to her now.
Alfor: You hold a dark entity within you. Don’t you know how dangerous that is? That’s what led to Honerva and Zarkon’s end.
Allura: I know the danger, but now I have the power to stop Honerva. You had to make a difficult choice in war by sending the lions away. I also had to make a difficult choice. I’m not going to be afraid to use the power I have. We need to continue.
Lance: But how do we get past the wall?
Allura: It’s… it’s like I can feel her thoughts. The way through is with the darkness.
Alfor: Honerva went mad, obsessed with darkness and power.
Allura: And now, we must enter her mind.
End.

s7 canon divergence adashi hcs
iverson: is good to have you back for good this time, commander shirogane
shiro: thank you, iverson
they both look at lance and pidge reunite with his family till iverson steps to the side
iverson: i'm afraid neither me or sam has been able to get a hold on your foster family's whereabouts but i can guarantee there's someone who would be happy to see you
and he finally sees him, he sees adam, who is with his back facing him as he talks to the garrison cadets, sam nodding to the side with his head and mouthing "go"
adam is laughing at something rizavi said when suddenly they all straighten themselves up and salute, confusing him till he feels a hand on his shoulder, slowly turning around
"takashi..." adam’s hand immediately taking a hold of his arm, just to realize its not there, so he looks back at him, cupping his face when shiro smiles as if saying “hey, its fine”
rizavi, clearing her throat: oh, don't mind us, we'll just go over there to breathe some air, where its -you know- not thick with tension and stuff
even kinkade is smirking as they walk away
shiro, scratching his neck nervously: adam i... i wish we could have seen each other on better circumstances but-
adam: are you joking? you're alive, takashi. that's more than enough for me
keith coming up behind them with a shit eating grin
keith: commander
adam: cadet, or should i say ‘paladin’ now?
keith rolls his eyes but he's still smiling, going for a one armed hug
keith: careful, adam, i have a wolf
adam: its good to have you back, keith *then he looks at shiro* both of you
the rest of the paladins looking at them then at each other like "did we missed something?"
they keep sneaking glances at each other during meetings because they haven't had time to properly talk yet
while keith is used to it, this gets lance and coran's attention
when they go on that mission separated in two groups
lance, sitting next to keith: so, this adam guy
keith, turning to him: yeah?
lance, suddenly panicking not knowing where he was going: is he-? um, h-how did you guys meet, like-
keith: oh, he's shiro's-
veronica: we're here
despite having to run around like crazy all day, coran finds a spare minute to talk to shiro
coran: shiro, my boy, might i have a word?
shiro: is everything okay, coran? does sam need any more-
coran: its not about commander holt, its about you
shiro: i think it can wait-
coran: and adam. i might not be a wise old man, ah no, that was pops for sure, but one thing i know for sure is i know how to listen to my heart, and you should too, before its too late. war does not distinguish from man to man and neither does fate. take it for someone who already has lost so much. i’d hate seeing you walk the same path
shiro tries to ignore the glint in his eyes, the same one it was always there when he told the paladins stories about alfor, he really tries
adam is there when the garrison gives shiro his new arm, bursting into the room right after allura because he has seen shiro in situations like these so many times but now that he’s back he won’t let go, not again
adam thanking allura for bringing him back to him
keith in the background wondering how we would feel like if he found out it was the second time she did, but he figures out its shiro’s story to tell
SHIRO AND ADAM CO-PILOTING THE ATLAS
adam: whenever you’re ready, captain
shiro: *gay panic bass boosted x10000*
when shiro decides to leave adam stops him
adam: i already let you go once, i’m not gonna let it happen again
shiro: its different this time, adam. i have to
adam: i know, but going by yourself would be a suicide mission, so you’re gonna need a pilot *looking over his shoulder* coran, you think you can cover up for us?
coran, at the verge of tears looking between the two: yes, sir
cue to them yeeting their ship before it crashes into sendak’s
shiro: just like old times, eh?
adam: you and i remember old times very differently
sendak noticing adam is shiro’s weakness and using it against him
shiro: this is between you and i sendak, he has nothing do do, let him go
after the crash, sendak finds adam first
sendak: but don’t worry, your death won’t be in vain, it’ll be reminded as the last utterly pathetic attempt earth offerend before kneeling to my feet
listen, if allura’s crystal inside shiro’s new arm was enough to help transform the atlas into a robot i like to think it would have been able to give shiro his own personal bayard, spear right through sendak and fulfil his s1 arc
shiro, panting: i told you to leave him alone
adam, before lying back on the ground, breathless but smiling: you could have done that all the time and used it just now? show off
shiro, after transforming the atlas into a robot, smirking: now that was me showing off
adam: *rolls his eyes in gay*
veronica teasing them “knock it off, lovebirds”
after eveything is said and done they finally get time to talk
if i actually start that conversation i’ll never finish so here have this
shiro: okay, so, how about me, you, the atlas, tonight. we can talk this out. how does that sound?
adam: i don’t think iverson would like that
shiro: iverson doesn’t need to know
adam’s nose does that thing when he laughs and damn it feels like the good old days
shiro: what you say?
adam: i wouldn’t miss it for anything in the entire universe, captain
♫ caaaaaaaan you feeeeeeel the loveeeeee toooniiiiiiiight ♫
bonus
shiro, walking into lance’s hospital room: you wanted to see me?
lance, with his back to shiro and his arms cradled around himself as he looks at the red lion through the window: shiro, how did you knew you liked boys?

If Shiro had to pick one thing that surprised him the most about dating Keith and Pidge, it had to be how unexpectedly affectionate Keith could get at times. A close second was how easy it was to entice Pidge away from her work, which he seemed to recall being more like pulling teeth.
Mornings brought sweet kisses from Pidge whenever he returned from his run. Afternoons were filled with cuddling on the couch and talking to Keith, tactfully asking whatever he could about the future he'd wound up in. The flirting over dinner was always fun, and Shiro delighted in the ways he could get Keith to turn red or send Pidge into an unexpected coughing fit. And while he didn't yet feel bold enough to join them in bed, Shiro knew that as time went on it would be harder and harder to resist.
Shiro sighed as he rested his head in Keith's lap, enjoying the way the other man ran his fingers through his hair. “Tell me more about Lance and Allura's kids?”
“Well, there are five of them,” Keith said, and Shiro snorted in amusement. “What, that's not enough? I'm starting to think you're just using me for illegal future knowledge.”
Shiro could tell from his tone that he was just kidding, but he rolled over onto his back anyway. He reached up and caught Keith's hands in his own, bringing it down to press butterfly kisses against his fingertips. “I'd never.”
Keith stared down at him in amusement. “Uh huh. Okay, Leo's the oldest and is almost seven now. He's pretty determined that he's going to be the next Blue paladin, and honestly, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is. He's a handful, that's for sure. Maribel and Melenor are twin girls. We used to call them the little princesses, but now they insist on being knights. Alanna, though, loves it. Of course, she's only two, so everything's fun to her as long as she can do whatever she wants. And Alfor's barely one, so nothing really keeps his attention except for food goo, because he can play with it and eat it without someone telling him 'no'. It's always pretty crazy over there when we visit for birthdays. Fun, but crazy. And loud.”
“Not really your thing?”
Keith shrugged. “Growing up, it was just me and my dad. Things were nice and quiet. And Pidge only had Matt, so it's a lot for her too.” He threaded his fingers together with Shiro's and let their joined hands rest over Shiro's heart. “Pidge told me you saw the crib.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” Shiro asked.
“I think she pretty much summed it up. We both want a kid one day, but right now isn't the right time,” Keith said. “There's still so much risk to what we do. I could never... I never want them to go through what I did.”
Shiro sat up so he could properly face Keith. “That would never happen. There are so many people in your life who would take them in, raise them with stories of the two of you. Pidge's parents would. Matt would. Allura and Lance. Hunk and Shay... Me.”
“You'd be a great dad, Shiro,” Keith said softly.
“And you and Pidge would be amazing parents. It's alright to be afraid of what the future holds, but if it's something you both want...” Shiro paused, frowning. “Is it something you want?”
“More than I've ever wanted anything,” Keith admitted.
Shiro leaned forward and kissed Keith on the forehead. “I'm glad. There's nothing that I want more than for the two of you to be happy.”
“Is that why you said yes?”
“No,” Shiro said with a shake of his head and a small smile. “I said yes because it's something I want.”
Keith relaxed slightly. “...but you still plan on leaving.”
“Yes.”
Keith lowered his gaze, not knowing what else to say.
“Keith, if all I get are a few months of happiness with you and Pidge, it's worth it. Going back and changing things is worth it, if it means you don't have to know the pain of losing another person you care about.” Shiro reached out and tilted up Keith's head. “I'd rather have this time with you than wonder for the rest of my life what it would be like.”
Pidge's words echoed back to Keith. “It could be a month or a year. But just for a while, we could try?”
Keith's tongue darted out to wet his lips. Any time with Shiro was precious, and while a few months would never be enough for Keith, he knew when to admit that they were right. If he didn't take advantage, he would regret it.
He leaned in slowly, his eyes fluttering shut as Shiro met him halfway. Their lips brushed together, parting briefly, and then Keith pressed forward. He could feel Shiro smile into their kiss.
“You should spend more time with Shiro.”
Pidge glanced up at Keith and then went back to her work. “I will. I'm just so close to... to, um...” She stopped what she was doing and fully turned around to face her husband, taking note of his unusually mussed hair with some amusement. “Are you sure you don't want to spend more time with him on your own? You look like you're having a good time.”
Keith flushed. “I am, but it's not right if you're not part of this too. You're so focused on your research that you haven't spent any time with him.”
A rush of guilt flooded her at his words. It was true; she'd been so wrapped up with her promise to find a way for him to go back that she'd let it consume her. Aside from shared meals and their brief morning greetings, she'd barely spent any time with him. And it wasn't like she was eager to send him away! She just wanted him to have the chance to choose for himself for once. He deserved that, after everything he'd been through.
Pidge glanced back at her computer and the algorithms she's written with help from Slav. They were almost perfect.
'It wouldn't hurt to take a break,' she mused to herself as she made sure her work was saved. Then she stood, wincing at the way her spine cracked in protest. She walked over to Keith and stood on tiptoe to kiss him. “Well, I can't let you have all the fun,” she murmured as she pulled away.
Keith chuckled and chased after her for another quick kiss. “Go. Get out of the house for a while.”
“What will you do?” Pidge asked.
“Probably clean up all of my tools that Kosmo's been using as chew toys. Maybe work on the bike for a bit,” Keith replied.
With one last kiss shared between them, Pidge set of to find Shiro and invite him for a leisurely walk. It wouldn't be a long one - nature was the Green Lion's element, not her own – but she couldn't deny that it was nice to get out of the house for a little while, especially when it meant getting to hold Shiro's hand as they strolled along.
“How's your research?” Shiro asked kindly.
“It's going well. It took a while to get Slav-” (Shiro made a face.) “-to stay on topic, but now that he knows I'm serious about it, there's no getting him to shut up about alternate realities and the flow of space-time,” Pidge grumbled. “I just have to make sure our calculations are correct and then I can start testing. Well, and actually build the time machine.” She frowned, scrunching up her nose. “It's going to need a better name. Like... like...”
“A time portal?” Shiro suggested.
Pidge hummed as she considered it. “That does sound better, but it's still not right. Time portal makes me think of something that lets you see different points in time, not travel to them.” She glanced up at him suddenly unsure of their conversation. Shiro didn't look like he minded it, but there had to be something more pleasant for them to talk about. Something that would be less of a reminder of how short their time together was.
Shiro squeezed her hand. “Maybe you could show me some of your designs, if you've started on them.”
“I might have a few,” Pidge said.
She had every intention of showing him her notebook full of designs. Really, she did. But somewhere along the way they ended up making out instead, and that was so much nicer than talking about time travel.
Pidge gasped as Shiro lifted her up, giving her little option but to wrap her legs around his waist for better stability. Her arms were already around his neck, her fingers entangled in his hair. It felt so undeniably good, but there was a quiet voice at the back of her mind telling her to slow down a little. There was something missing.
She made a throaty sound as Shiro swooped down and captured her lips in a deep kiss, losing herself in pleasure for a few minutes longer. “Wait,” she gasped as he drew back to catch his breath. “Wait.”
Shiro gently eased her down onto the bed, and while he didn't move away from her, he didn't push any further. “I'm sorry. It's too fast. I shouldn't-”
Pidge pressed a finger against his lips, cutting him off. “Trust me, it's not too fast and you have nothing to apologize for.” She slowly lowered her hand, trailing her finger down over his jaw and then back around his neck, keeping him right where she wanted him. “Have either of us told you how we got together?”
“A giant robot lion and an intergalactic war?” Shiro guess.
“Ha. Cute. I mean it, Shiro. Keith's never mentioned it to you?”
Shiro shook his head. “I think he's been waiting for me to ask. I... I haven't wanted to. It only reminds him.”
“Two years after you disappeared, we were celebrating. We'd just delivered a massive blow to Sendak's forces and chased him away from Earth. There was a little drinking. I think I remember Lance attempting a striptease. Hunk says I fell over myself flirting with Allura, but I'm sure he was just exaggerating.” She shrugged at Shiro's questioning look. “I have eyes, Shiro. Anyway, that's not the point. What I do remember is Keith walking me back to my room. And then not leaving.”
It was a good memory; one she would always cherish. It may not have been the most conventional way to start a lasting relationship, but she wouldn't complain. Besides, she thought they handled the whole thing maturely.
“And you started dating after that?”
“No, then we started sleeping together regularly,” Pidge corrected. “Eight months after that, we had our first official date.”
Shiro chuckled in amusement and pressed his lips to her forehead. “No wonder you don't think this is rushing. At least we're dating.”
A giggle burst free from Pidge's throat. Leave it to Shiro to treat even unusual circumstances as though they were perfectly normal. Though she couldn't help but wonder how he would have reacted had he still been with them when the team found out. (Matt, for example, had done his best to put Keith through a wall when he found out. It'd taken Allura, Hunk, and Lance to pull him away.)
She pulled Shiro down onto the bed with her, using his surprise to her advantage so she could flip him on his back and straddle his waist. Pidge grinned down at him.
Shiro's hands settled on her hips. “And what will you do with me now, Katie?”
Pidge swallowed, trying not to let it show how affected she was by the use of her real name. “Now... now I think I'll keep you here like this. It'll make a nice surprise for Keith.”
Shiro's eyes glittered with anticipation.
It was with great reluctance that Pidge dragged herself out of bed the next morning, moving slowly so she wouldn't wake Keith or Shiro. She dressed herself and then took a moment to look at them, smiling at the way Shiro had latched onto Keith in his sleep.
How had she gotten so lucky? Shiro fit together with them so well, like a puzzle piece they didn't know they'd been missing.
What were they going to do once he was gone?
She shook her head to clear herself of such gloomy thoughts and quietly made her way out of the room and downstairs to get started on breakfast. If she was lucky, they would sleep in for once and she could surprise them with breakfast in bed. (She doubted they would, but it was nice to dream.)
As she was gathering what she needed, the doorbell rang.
Pidge frowned as she set a pan on the counter. She could hear the sound of someone rolling out of bed upstairs, their feet hitting the floor hard. “I'll get it!” she called out, giving them extra time to prepare for their guest.
She took her time getting to the door, wondering who was there at such an early hour. It wasn't like they had neighbors and Matt always called ahead before showing up. She got her answer when she opened the door to see Hunk, Lance, and Allura on the other side.
“What are you guys doing here?” Pidge asked bluntly, nowhere near awake enough for pleasantries.
“We've been worried about you,” Allura said. “You and Keith have been holed up here for months except for missions. And Hunk says you've been talking to Slav about alternate realities or something.”
Pidge groaned and stepped aside, wordlessly inviting them inside. 'Damn you, Slav.'
'Sorry,' Hunk mouthed at her as he passed, offering her a sympathetic pat on the shoulder.
Pidge led them to the kitchen, where Hunk noticed her beginnings of making breakfast and automatically took charge of it, partly out of habit and partly to have an excuse to not actively participate in whatever Allura and Lance had planned.
“So what's so important that you had to show up at seven in the morning?” Pidge asked.
“It's like Allura said, you and Keith have just been sitting out here for months. You didn't even come to my birthday!” Lance said.
“We called and sent a gift,” Pidge replied, crossing her arms over her chest. “We just want some peace and quiet for a bit, that's all. That's why we built our house all the way out here.”
Lance mimicked her stance. “Yeah, but this is something different. I can feel it.”
“Well maybe it's none of your business!”
Allura stepped between them before they could really start yelling. “Okay, that's enough. Pidge, I'm sorry we came so early and without telling you. We really have been worried and just wanted to see if there's anything we can help with. You've both been so quiet lately and then I heard about you working on a project with Slav and... And it just seemed so unlike you to stay quiet about something, is all.”
Pidge's anger deflated as Allura calmly spoke. She couldn't really fault them for getting worried. They had been distancing themselves since they found Shiro.
“I have been working on something, I just didn't want to say anything because I wasn't sure if it would work,” Pidge said, picking her words carefully. She wasn't going to lie to them, but she couldn't tell the full truth either. “The only reason Slav is involved is because he knows more about it than I do and I needed the help.”
Lance fidgeted and then opened his mouth. “I think Keith's cheating on you.”
“Lance!” Allura snapped, whirling around to face her husband.
“What the fuck, Lance?” Keith growled from the stairway. He stalked into the kitchen towards the other man, fury radiating from his very being. “Why would you ever think something like that? I love Katie!”
Any other time, Pidge would have tried to intervene in whatever fight they picked with each other, but for once she though Lance deserved whatever Keith was about to do. In fact, she might actually help.
Hunk broke away from cooking to stop Keith before he could do anything he would later regret. “Keith, what Lance said is wrong, but can we stop and cool down for a second? Everyone?”
“Or at least let him explain why he'd say something so stupid before you punch him,” Pidge said.
“Yes, exact- wait, no,” Hunk corrected himself, frowning at Pidge. “No punching. Lance, explain.”
Lance looked around helplessly, as if he'd just become aware that he wasn't getting any backup. “Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said it like that. I just... I just had this feeling that there was something weird the last time we formed Voltron and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it! You know how we can kind of pick up on strong thoughts and feelings when we're together like that?”
“So... you think Keith has strong feelings for someone who isn't me?” Pidge tried to make sense of what Lance was saying.
“Yes! That!”
Pidge turned her gaze to Keith, who had calmed down enough that he no longer looked as though he was seconds away from decking Lance. And while she was still angry that he assumed such an awful thing, it was interesting that he'd picked up on their anxiety over Shiro.
She walked over to join Keith, waving Hunk away back to his cooking, so they could face their friends together. “Should we tell them?” she asked quietly.
After a moment of contemplation, Keith nodded.
Pidge took a deep breath. “Keith and I have a boyfriend.”
Their reactions were instantaneous. Hunk fumbled with a spatula and nearly dropped it on the floor. Lance's mouth hung open in shock. Allura choked on air as she gasped.
There was a beat of silence before Hunk recovered enough to say: “You know I was only joking about the harem thing, right, Pidge?”
“And don't you think I would have picked Allura first if that was my plan?” Pidge joked back. “And Lance too, I guess. Packaged deal and all.”
“I am never dating Lance,” Keith grumbled.
“I know, dear.”
“Boyfriend?” Lance squeaked. “What-? But who?”
“Me,” Shiro said, taking that as his cue to step out of the stairway and into the kitchen, giving their friends a second heart-attack in the span of a few minutes.
As before, there was a period of silence before all hell broke loose and their friends mobbed him, talking too fast for anyone to get a word in. Hunk was sobbing as he threw his arms around Shiro. Lance, tearing up even as he cursed Pidge and Keith for keeping it a secret. And Allura, openly weeping as she tried to confirm that it really was him.
It was some time later that they all sat down together, food forgotten as Pidge and Keith explained the events leading up to their unexpected visit that morning. Some things – the more intimate details – were naturally left out, as was Pidge's pursuit of a way to send him back.
“So you didn't want to tell us because...?” Lance prodded.
“Because Pidge is building a time machine,” Hunk said, his eye widening with realization. “That's why you're working with Slav! It's not alternate realities you're interested in, it's the flow of space-time!”
Pidge nodded.
“You're not staying?” Allura asked Shiro, sounding disappointed.
“I have to go back, if it's possible. I want to change things. Not everything, but...” He hesitated, looking at Keith. “But more than that, there's so much I missed out on. I want to be there to see your children born, Allura. I want to be there for all of you. For the good times and the bad.”
Allura's smile was a sad one. “You know it might not change things for us. It could just create an alternate reality.”
“I know. I still want to try. Even if it is another version of all of you, it's still you. It's a Keith who didn't have to spend ten years searching. A Pidge who didn't have to give up on a friend.”
Allura reached across the table to take his hand. “Alright. Then whatever you need in order to go back, let me know.” She turned to Pidge, who looked as though she was seconds away from crying. “We're here to help. Any time.”
With their friends on board to lend a hand, Pidge finished up the Time Transporter much sooner than she expected. What she predicted would take another six or eight months on her own, only took three, even with testing and building the machine itself.
The day before was dreary and overcast, perfect for the somber atmosphere of Shiro's farewell dinner. They'd all wanted the chance to say goodbye, but had agreed the day he left would be just Shiro, Keith, and Pidge.
Stories were swapped, from the times before Shiro's disappearance and more than a few through the years he'd missed. Mostly silly stories. Lance reminisced about the fun times on the Castle of Lions, like the food goo fight and the squishy asteroids. (Or even that one time the castle tried to kill them all.) Allura's stories of a houseful of half-Altean children and an offhand remark that maybe there was room for another. Keith's countless tales of Kosmo's antics when they all lived on the Atlas and how he would team up with Baebae to wreak havoc. Hunk, gushing over Shay and their baby boy, Vayren. Pidge had a number of stories about Matt and her family, carefully chosen to not reveal too much.
There were no dry eyes when Hunk, Allura, and Lance left that night.
The next morning dawned clear and bright, drying out the wetness from the day before. No one could stomach much of a breakfast and it wasn't long before the three of them were standing in the backyard.
Pidge knelt down to make sure the Time Transporter was set correctly, as well as to give herself a moment to collect herself. She knew if she looked at Shiro she'd never be able to get the words out. “Remember, I can't send you back to the exact moment you left, in case I overshoot and you go back too far. Your best chance is getting sent back ten years from this moment.” She stopped to rub her eyes and then stood up, her voice breaking. “It's set to target Keith. You'll show up wherever he is in the past.”
“Oh, Katie,” Shiro said softly, wrapping her up in his arms. “It'll be okay. You'll see me soon. I know it. Everything's going to be alright.”
Pidge sobbed and buried her face in his chest, unable to bring herself to say anything else. After a few minutes, she was calm enough to let go of him, though tears continued to stream down her face.
“Keith,” Shiro's voice cracked as he turned to face the other man.
Keith's smile was brittle. “See you soon, Shiro.”
Shiro looked away, his hand trembling as he gripped the handle of the Time Transporter. He flipped the switch to give it time to work and then lifted his head, getting one last look at them. “I love you both.”
And then he was gone.
Pidge fell to her knees, sobbing once again, and Keith went to her, hiding his face in her hair as he cried.
They sat in the grass and held each other for a long time.
And then Kosmo gleefully barked from somewhere in the house, and like waking from a spell, Pidge and Keith slowly untangled and he helped her up, freezing as he got a good look at her.
“Pidge?” His voice was full of wonder as he placed his hand on her belly, which had been perfectly flat the last he checked.
Pidge looked down, her eyes wide. “How?”
As new memories trickled in, slowly growing stronger and pushing aside the old until their ten years without Shiro felt more like a well-watched movie than reality, they knew what happened.
“Shiro,” they said in unison, hurrying inside to find him.
Pidge and Keith were almost to the hall when they heard the front door shut and Shiro's voice call out: “We're home!”
Tiny footsteps raced towards them and Keith stepped in front of Pidge in time to catch a little girl with dark hair and sweep her up into his arms. She squealed and giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck and planting a wet kiss against his cheek with a playful, “Mwah!”
“Keira,” Pidge breathed, staring at their daughter. She felt like crying all over again, but at least she could blame it on the hormones.
And then Shiro walked in, a little older and with much whiter hair, but still very much the Shiro they fell in love with. Keith slowly set Keira down, unable to take his eyes off of him.
“Sweetie, why don't you and Kosmo go play outside?” he asked.
“Kosmo!” Keira giggled as the comic wolf loped over to her and laid down, letting her climb onto his back. Once she had a good grip on his harness, he trotted out the back door.
Shiro set down his backpack, his expression one of concern as he approached Pidge. He reached out to brush away her fresh tears. “Hey, what's wrong? Did something happen? Is everything alright?”
“You did it,” Keith said, his tone conveying his awe. “You actually...”
“Changed things,” Pidge choked out with a happy laugh. “You changed the timeline. Our timeline!”
With a shout of delight, Shiro pulled his wife and husband in for a warm hug, basking in the knowledge that he'd done what he set out to do.
At last, everything was right in their universe.

VLD1x03 – “Defenders of the Universe”
1x03 – “Defenders of the Universe”
Sendak threatens, and the first thing anyone says is Shiro saying, “Let’s not panic.” What was that about the Black Paladin being someone with significant self-control?
Lance, Hunk, Pidge, and Keith argue back and forth until Shiro tells them to stop. He then, understanding what everyone has to contribute and calling upon it as needed, asks Allura, “These are your Lions, you’ve dealt with the Galra Empire before, you know what we’re facing better than any of us. What do you think is the best course of action?” That is leadership.
Allura is immediately unsure of what to say or do, and Coran suggests she turn to her father (or a computer-maintained copy of his mind) for help. (Needing her father to tell her what to do, nothing patriarchal about that, right?) The computer-copy of Alfor’s mind tells her that she urged him to fight but he instead thought it was better to hide the Lions, which she thinks is him saying to do the same thing as before. He responds that he thinks he took the wrong course of action 10,000 years ago. This would suggest that the show is narratively hinting at Allura’s capacity for greater wisdom, judgement, and leadership than that of her father. “You must be willing to sacrifice everything,” he tells her; I wonder if they really were planning on killing Allura at the end of the show this far in advance.
Visually, I’ve never understood Allura’s hair when she has it tied up; the crescents that hang off the side upfront often look like they’re not connected to her in anyway. As a character design decision, it’s a look that has always bugged me.
The Paladins get their suits, and the show can’t help but to make a fat joke at Hunk’s expense. They also get their bayards, and we’re told they take a distinct shape for each Paladin. I don’t think we ever get an explanation as to why; there probably never really was one. Lance’s turning into a laser rifle makes sense if he’s the best at marksmanship, though. Shiro doesn’t get a bayard here. Ever the professional, he replies, “I guess I’ll just have to make do.” (Shiro, you deserve so many nice things!)
“How are we going to know where the Red Lion is?” Keith asks. “It’s not a matter of we, it’s a matter of you,” Pidge responds. Hunk concurs, “Pidge is right. Once we get you in, you’ll be able to feel its presence and like track it down.” Lance continues, “Yeah, you know how you felt that crazy energy while we were in the desert […] turns out it’s exactly like that mumbo-jumbo.” I kind of like how there’s this sort of moment of doubt for Keith right here, and everyone (even if Lance does pause to taunt and insult Keith in the process) does support Keith in this moment.
Shiro activates his leadership and plans some tactics: Relying on the Galra knowing they have Blue and Yellow but not Green, Lance and Hunk will distract while Green sneaks the rest of them onto the Galra ship. I think tactical writing like that can be challenging, so I applaud the show for doing so well in this episode. Lance, who I think has demonstrated some notable skill in leadership himself in these first three episodes, divides the work: Hunk takes on the large cannon while Lance takes on the fighter craft.
On board the Galra ship, Shiro has a PTSD flashback. He remembers being brought on board this ship (though I imagine most Galra ships have the same floorplans since they externally look the same throughout the series, so how he can be sure it was this exact ship, I don’t know) when captured on Kerberos. Pidge reacts in her sharp, abrasive way to say she wants to get her brother and father back. With the revelation that the Holts are Pidge’s family, Shiro immediately wants to help. (It’s almost as if with some people, good people, all you need to do is tell them what’s truly going on for you and they’ll understand and be willing to help. Oh, the value of personal connections and being willing to open up and be honest. Psychologically, it can be so, so hard to do though.) Shiro encourages Keith to continue and find Red. “Patience yields focus.” (Catchphrase.)
Who designed/built this Castle Ship!? Oh yeah, Coran’s dad. Who builds a system like that of the particle barrier such that the crystals needed for its functioning can’t be easily accessed? Coran says, “we’re both too big” to reach inside the hole to the crystals. How would they otherwise be accessed for maintenance!? Surely, a set of telepathic mice aren’t a standard part of a Castle Ship’s engineering crew, right? This scene needs some revision.
Keith’s frustration trying to find Red is a nice scene though. He does slow himself down, having a moment of mastery over self, and senses where Red is. It is kind of an emergency situation though, Red, are you sure that right now is a time to test your new pilot?
Shiro and Pidge continue on and run into a Galra drone. Pidge is apparently so good at technology that she can reprogram the drone without having ever worked with Galra computers and programming before (yet she was unsure how Allura’s computer interface in the previous episode worked). It’s a minor moment of unrealism, but it does gain us a new puppy named Rover. They then find where some prisoners are being kept, and those prisoners recognize Shiro and identify him as “the Champion.”
“It’s me, Keith. Your buddy. It’s me! Keith! Your— I am your Paladin! I’m bonding with you! Come on, we’re connected!” Keith screams at Red. I love that moment so much; the voice acting makes me laugh. Keith quickly gets possessive, declaring the Galra are not going to get this Lion, and he goes melee. They fight, he blows them out into space before being blown out himself. Red is satisfied, Keith’s a scrappy sort, much like Red. Human-Ancient Spaceship bonding achieved. I like the animation of the reflection of Red in Keith’s helmet; it produces the overwhelming sensation that would come with being swallowed by a giant mechanical lion.
Shiro and Pidge and the prisoners get pinned down by Galra sentries, Shiro’s hand activates, and he takes the Galra out with some unexpected, fierce fighting skills. It saddens me watching this, knowing what he went through in the process of gaining those fighting skills. Hunk seriously smashes up the large Galra cannon, but it gets replaced/repaired unrealistically quickly a few minutes later.
The four Lions combine influence to gain them access to the Black Lion. That’s your Lion right there Shiro! Roar!
Everyone gets in their Lions and they take off to fight Sendak, whose ship is now in the atmosphere. While being attacked Pidge says, “Can’t they just cease fire for one minute so we can figure this out? Is that too much to ask?” Is it too much to ask for better written dialog than that line you just had Pidge? Hunk has Yellow slam into Red while yelling, “Combine!” It’s a silly moment, but it did make me laugh.
They get caught in a tractor beam. “It’s been an honor flying with you boys,” Keith says when they think they’re caught and finished. I don’t know why, but that line really gets me emotional. The delivery of the voice acting does it for me, I think. There was an actual sadness in Keith’s voice.
Shiro goes into generic speech mode, and Team Voltron is all yeah!teamwork, and we get the animation sequence of the Lions combining into Voltron. This is our first time seeing this animation. It’s cool/fun now, but man! does it get tiresome the more the show runs this same footage. I understand why a cartoon back in the 80s would have a sequence like this, a piece of animation that could be added to most/all episodes. With a series that would run five days a week for a 65-episode season, it would help manage the cost of animation and pad runtime. But VLD is a 13-episode per season show; the repeated animation padding episodes’ runtime is unacceptable.
“I’m a leg!” Hunk, you said the perfect thing for your character to say in that moment!
Voltron destroys most of Sendak’s ship.
Regarding Sendak’s visual design: I really do not like his arm. It’s clunky, inelegant, and his spherical shoulder looks like a bad action figure design.
Everyone’s celebrating, but Pidge has a look of concern on her face. Shiro sees it and instantly moves to lend support, telling her they’re going to find her brother and father and that he thinks they’d be really proud of her.
“‘Defenders of the Universe’ huh? That’s got a nice ring to it,” Shiro says, thus concluding the three-parter that starts the show. Shiro getting the last word in the episode… it’s almost like he’s the main character or something.
This show had a really nice beginning that made me eager for more.

Keith apologizing (again) to Allura for insulting Alfor, even though he obviously didn’t mean it, he just needs to make sure.
A/N: More than one person asked for this drabble request. Apparently a lot of us where wanting some resolution!
He’s tired, exhausted even, and yet his thoughts refuse toquiet and let him sleep as he sits in his lion thinking about the past 24hours. He’s almost died so many times in general that that realization that hecould have died again earlier doesn’t even bother him anymore. It’s the thingsthat came tumbling out of his mouth in a fit of fatigue and fear induced madnessthat is keeping him up. Those hurtful, nasty things.
How could he say those things?
How could he bring up Alfor?
How could be bring up Lotor?
He knows those are extremely sensitive subjects. He knows all the ways in which she blames herselfwhen it comes to those two men in particular. She blames herself for notstaying to help her father fight even though Alfor gave her no such choice andnow she struggles every day to be the kind of leader his legacy needs her tobe, that the universe needs her to be. She blames herself for allowing a man, with all his charm and good looks and kind words about peace and unity to lureher into building him a war machine and now she struggles every day to notthink about the consequences of that decision.
She needlessly blames herself for things out of her controland instead of reassuring her and comforting her he hit her where he knew it’dhurt the most. Space can make you crazy but, he also knows there’s a part ofhimself that still hasn’t properly dealt with feelings he still won’t admit outloud and some of that leaked out during his little tirade.
He already apologized, but it was brief, quick, easilyattributed to the madness and brushed off and he knows it’s not enough, not forhow deep he cut with his words.
His lion is silent save for the gentle hum and whir of thisgiant machine but his thoughts, his thoughts and his guilt are deafening. Heneeds to make it right.
He pushes some buttons on the communications panel and initiatesthe call. It’s late and he’s pushing it but if she doesn’t respond he can maybetry again later. If he still has the courage by then. The screen flicks on inAllura’s cockpit and Keith is immediately met with a familiar large furry facehogging up the whole screen.
“Heh, hey Kosmo” Keith says softly, “I thought you weren’tallowed in the cockpit.”
The pup’s ears twitch and he gets down to reveal Allurasleeping in the pilot’s chair. Her helmet is off and her hair is down, fallingover her shoulders. Keith watches the way her chest gently rises and falls witheach breath. One hand dangles over the armrest and Kosmo licks it, nuzzles, runs his body up against it. Allura stirs and turns her head as her eyes flutteropen. She smiles and strokes his fur.
“Hello my little starlight, can’t sleep?”
Kosmo’s eyes close happily as she scratches behind his earswith those nice nails of hers.
“Little starlight?” Keith asks, forgetting that Allura hasyet to notice his presence.
Allura flinches, startled, and looks forward.
“Keith” she says in surprise as she quickly sits up in herchair and attempts to smooth down her hair.
“Sorry, I know it’s late. Can we talk?”
“Of course.” She nods and tucks her hair behind her ear witha slight yawn.
“I thought you hated him.” Keith motions to Kosmo.
“He’s grown on me in our time together.”
“Enough to get a nickname Isee. I like it.”
Allura blushes, a bit embarrassed.
“So what is it you wanted to discuss? Is something wrong?”she asks, changing the subject.
“I…” he hesitates, takes a deep breath, “about what I saidout there…”
Allura looks at him then looks down.
“Allura I’m so sorry I said those things.”
“It’s fine Keith,” she says with a weak smile, “the space ma-”
“No, no. Don’t give me that out. I didn’t have to say theexact words that I did. It was mean and hurtful and I’m really sorry.”
Allura’s expression softens.
“I apologize for lashing out as well. I think perhaps I wasmore hurt when you left than I initially let on” she added.
“You’re not the only with that on their mind. I think aboutit too. If I stayed around I could have helped keep Lotor away from you in thefirst place, I mean the paladins.” He quickly corrects himself. “Perhaps Icould’ve even noticed sooner than Shiro wasn’t…”
Keith sighs and leans back in his chair letting his bodyslump.
“God, I couldn’t protect you at all” he says quietly, almostto himself but she still hears it.
“I don’t need you to protect me Keith, I just need you tostay.”
She brings her knees up to her chest, wrapping her armsaround herself.
“I’m here now.”
“You’re here now” she repeats.
“I’m not leaving again.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
Silence lingers between them. He feels like he should saymore, do more, that he needs to keep apologizing so she knows how much sheactually means to…everyone. Yes that’s it, everyone, and he’s part of everyoneright? So it’s ok to admit that she means more to him, isn’t it?
“You should rest,” Allura finally speaks up, “it’s been along couple of days.”
“Sleep’s always been hard to come by, especially now thatyou have my personal space heater with you.”
Kosmo perks up. He knows he’s being talked about.
“I can send him over to you.”
“Nah, it’s already cramped over here. Krolia’s taken over mybed, she likes to stretch out.”
Allura chuckles.
“I’d just like to talk to you a bit more if that’s ok.”Keith says.
Allura yawns and rubs her eyes.
“I’d love to but I’m not sure I can keep my eyes open formuch longer. Can we talk in the morning?”
“Y-yeah sure.” His heart pangs a little, he wants just alittle bit more time.
They say their goodnights and the smile from his face snapsoff the second the video feed disappears.
Just a little bit more time.
He walks into his room to find his mother deep in sleep, snoring, arms and legs extended to the four corners of the bed. Floor it is. He laysdown, shifts uncomfortably and crosses his arms. A sudden flash of blue lightilluminates the darkness behind his eyelids and he pops them open to find Kosmosniffing around his face.
“Hey buddy” he whispers.
Kosmo’s head dips, nudging his snout under Keith’s hand.Keith knows this “pet me” trick and he obliges, placing his fingers in hisfriend’s fur. Another blue flash. Keith blinks, eyes trying to adjust in thedarkness. Kosmo has taken him somewhere. He’s still on his back and he quicklysits up trying to figure out exactly where.
“Kosmo you know the rules. You can sleep in here but not inthe bed, you drool too much” a voice grumbles, sleepily.
“Allura?”
“Keith?”
“What-”
“I’m so sorry Kosmo must’ve…shit.”
Allura lets out a laugh. She pushes a switch on the wall anda tiny overhead light comes on, bathing them in a faint soft yellow light. She’sin her nightgown, hair in slight disarray. She’s still perfect. It takes asecond for his heart to calm. He’s in her bed, with a very large alien dogstaring at the two of them expectantly.
“Come on now Kosmo, take me back.”
Kosmo tilts his head then hops down, circles a few times thensettles on the floor.
“Kosmo, now.” Keith demands.
The pup closes his eyes as he curls up. Keith sighs as hisbrow furrows in irritation.
“I’m really sorry, I’ll just sleep on the floor until-”
Allura lets out an exasperated sigh of her own beforepulling the both of them down into her bed. A push of the button and the roomgoes black again, however the glow from Keith’s cheeks could light up the room.
“Keith we’re both quiet tired. I’m certainly too tired to careabout the impropriety of a princess in bed with a paladin. Just sleep beside meand in the morning we can finish the talk you wanted. Deal?”
He feels her body against his, her hand still on his chest, her breathing steady and slow. He leans his head to the side until it restsagainst hers.
“Allura I’m sorry” he apologizes again, one final time.
“It’s all right” she murmurs back in his ear before sleeptakes her and all he can hear is each soft inhale and exhale.
His body eases, sinks into the bed and his eyes flutterclosed.
He wanted just a little bit more time to talk with her, butthis, this works too.

Please, please, please more of that sweet Lance/James au. I need to read how they interact back on Earth, and how the other paladins react to this amazing revelation.
You want the Paladins? I got the Paladins for you.
This kinda spans the entire series, so maybe don’t start with this one? I haven’t put any of the others under a read more, but this is a lil different than the others so it’s been slapped under one.
Also this came out…vaguely anti-Allura? Which isn’t the case, but Allura has been through a lot with Lotor and she makes some bad decisions here because of that betrayal.
Part Four | AO3 Link
Hunk never really finds out about Lance and Griffin. He just kind of always knows. In fact, he knows about Griffin’s crush even before Lance does. Because while Lance was busy holding court in the cafeteria, Hunk sat next to his best friend. And when Lance was pushing himself into other’s space to get their attention, Hunk was looking around and trying to avoid the embarrassment of whatever pick up line Lance was going to choose.
So it’s Hunk that notices, ages before they’re moved into the Fighter program, that James Griffin is always watching Lance. He never approaches, but when Lance is doing his thing Griffin is across the cafeteria with his head turned in their direction, listening to the people around him even as he focused on watching Lance with something soft in his eyes that Hunk wouldn’t normally associate with him.
Lance’s crush doesn’t start until their in fighter class, until Griffin is something more than just ‘that kid behind Keith in the fighter rankings’. And then it’s Hunk that sits on the end of Lance’s bed with popcorn in his lap, watching Lance roll around his bed and groan about how cute Griffin is. And then it’s Hunk who walks beside Lance and sees him frown when he realizes that Griffin’s getting overly frustrated with the new simulator and runs off to poke at him, to try and make him smile, even though Griffin’s snapping at everyone else who so much as looks at him. And then it’s Hunk who drops a wrench on his foot when Lance burst into their room screaming about how Griffin had caught him in the hallway and ASKED HIM OUT HUNK.
Hunk is there for their first date when Lance shows up practically glowing with happiness, he’s there when Lance comes back after the date that they share their first kiss - hand hovering over his lips and a giddy smile on his face, he’s there for the day when they become something more than just ‘boys who go on dates together’ and Lance introduces them - because despite Hunk and Griffin already knowing each other, he wants the chance to call Griffin his boyfriend.
Hunk is there for the good and the bad, for the moments when their looking at each other with gooey eyes and holding hands, for the moments when Keith Kogane’s shadow looms to big over both of them and they snap at each other because the pressure of always being second-best is just too much too handle.
Pidge finds out fifteen hours after being placed on Hunk and Lance’s team, fifteen hours after moving into their team dorm.
It happens like this:
Pidge has only been asleep for four hours, having been forced by Hunk and Lance to stay up for a movie marathon in the name of team bonding, when they were woken up by knocking the door. They were still trying to figure out what was going on when they hear Hunk groan out, “Lance, you didn’t tell him not to come over this morning?”
“I forgot,” Lance said. He sounded just as miserable as Hunk did, just as miserable as Pidge felt. There was another knock. Lance let out a loud, dramatic groan. There was a creaking before a thump, Lance jumping off the bunk bed he and Hunk shared, and then the shuffling of feet moving across the ground. Pidge heard him mumble, “This would be way sweeter if I wasn’t sleep deprived.”
“Just get him to stop,” Hunk whined.
Though they were exhausted and had spent the rest of the conversation with their head buried in their pillow, attempting to get back to sleep, Pidge’s curiosity struck and they turned their head to see who was knocking on the door.
Lance pulled it open to reveal a boy on the other side with dark hair that fell to the side of one eye and gray eyes. He smiled at Lance, leaning in to press their lips together in a quick kiss.
Boyfriend, Pidge thought as the two of them started conversing in low voices, too soft for them to hear. A moment later, Lance grabbed onto the boys hand and pulled him into the room with the rest of them before closing the door. Pidge buried their head back in their pillow, not wanting to deal with introductions this early, but they could hear the sounds of two people climbing up the rickty ladder leading to the top bunk. Definitely his boyfriend.
Coran finds out during a cleaning session with Lance. The two of them had gotten into the habit of talking about the past while they wiped the healing pods down. Coran would talk about Altea, the things the missed and the things that didn’t. He talked about Alfor and Allura’s mother and about Allura herself as a child.
Lance talked about the things he missed on Earth, but mostly he told stories about his family. There were so many people in his family and so many stories to go along with each person that he never ran out, always had one on the top of his head that he hadn’t told before.
He was telling Coran about his oldest brother Marco, saying, “When Griffin came to visit during Christmas Break, Marco spent the entire weekend making these absurd thinly veiled threats until Papa threatened to break him in half if he didn’t cut if out.”
And Coran asked, “Who is Griffin? You’ve never told me about him before.” Lance was quiet for a moment, hesitating as if he hadn’t realized he’d used the name and didn’t know if he wanted to talk about it. Coran tried to assure him that he didn’t have to, saying, “My boy, if you don’t want to explain then-”
“I think I do want to,” Lance said. “I just…I used to think that it would be better not to talk or think about him. I thought it wouldn’t hurt that way, you know? But I think that it’s actually just hurting me more.” There was a quiet moment, Lance looking down at his hands, before he murmured quietly, “I’ve never been very good at not talking about the people I love.”
“You love this boy then?” Coran asked, nudging gently. If Lance wanted to talk, but was finding it hard to find the words than Coran would help him with them.
“Yes,” Lance said without any hesitation. “Absolutely.”
Shiro finds out when he gets his clones memories.
The clone found out like this:
Voltron was on a planet of empaths. And, in what had become typical fashion, after freeing the planet from Galran rule they had decided to throw a party to honor the Paladins.
Shiro has spent most of the party on the fringes, back against the wall. He’d spent a while in the thick of it with his friends, but all of the socializing and all of the people moving around him and all of the noise coming from the music and chattering guests had quickly become too much for him.
He’s watching Lance flirt with one of the planet’s inhabitants, trying to figure out if he should step in or not. Lance’s flirting was harmless on most planets, but there had been a few where his advances had meant something deeper or been offensive. Shiro didn’t want to end the night with an ally turned into an enemy or by trying to break Lance out of an accidental engagement.
Before he could decide which way to go, he heard someone off to his left asking, “The Blue one…you feel what I feel, yes?”
“Yes,” someone answered them. “He is lonely, hurt. Heartsick, I think. In love with someone that’s not here.”
“His behavior is strange for someone feeling that way, isn’t it?”
“No,” the other said, sounding much sadder now. “I think this…this is very normal for someone who feels the way this boy feels. He desperately wants the man he loves, but with him so far away it’s easier to do this. It’s easier to flirt with strangers than to remember the man he wants.”
Of course, the clone doesn’t realize who it is that Lance is heartsick over, but he knows that Lance is deeply in love with someone, knows that Lance misses them like crazy.
So when Shiro, newly transplanted into his clones body, arrives on Earth with the others and one of the soldiers that comes to meet them drops his weapons and takes his helmet off, runs at Lance looking desperate and relieved, and then latches onto him, looking like even that isn’t enough, Shiro knows that this is the boy. He knows, without a doubt, that this boy is the boy that Lance had been missing, this is the boy that Lance is in love with him.
And Shiro feels a flood of warm relief, because he doesn’t know if Adam is waiting for him or if Adam meant it when he said he wouldn’t, but he knows that this boy waited for Lance and Shiro is happy to see how happy Lance looks as he wraps himself around the other boy as well.
Keith finds out when he sees the kiss and he feels…betrayal.
He and Lance are nothing more than friends and Keith doesn’t hold any feelings for him other than platonic ones, but Lance…Lance and Keith are close. Lance is, without a doubt, Keith’s best friend and Keith wouldn’t survive leading Voltron without Lance by his side to help him.
And Keith can’t help feeling betrayed because Keith has told Lance things he hasn’t told anyone else, has put a trust in Lance that he hasn’t in anyone else, but Lance kept this from him.
He doesn’t really care that Lance is dating Griffin - part of Keith still hates him but mostly Keith just doesn’t give a shit anymore because he has shit to worry about other than some punk kid from the Garrison - but he cares that Lance hid it from him. Because as time goes on, it becomes more and more obvious that Lance and Griffin weren’t just…crushes or casual boyfriend. It’s something more serious than that and Lance didn’t tell him.
In the end, Keith and Lance fight. It starts off as a friendly spar, but Keith’s angry and frustrated. Lance knows it, has been dealing with a snappy Keith for days now, and he gives as good as he gets. They fight until their both bruised and bleeding, until their chests are heaving as they lay side-by-side on the ground with their limbs spread out.
And then, Lance says, “I couldn’t tell you about him, Keith.”
“Why?” Keith asks, because that’s all he wants to know. All he wants is a reason why Lance kept this thing from him, a reason why Lance didn’t trust him the way he trusts Lance.
“Because I love him and he was galaxies away,” Lance said. “And…before we left he hated you, Keith, and you didn’t exactly like him either. Talking to you about him felt like betraying him.”
There’s a quiet moment and then Keith says, “I still kind of hate him.”
And Lance laughs before saying, “He still kind of hates you too.”
Then Keith turns onto his side so he can see Lance and Lance turns his head so he’s looking at Keith. And he says, “But I’ll try for you.”
And Lance smiles at him, grinning widely and says, “Thank you.”
Allura approaches Griffin in a quiet moment after they arrive back at the Garrison. She did not know about him before the kiss. And fresh off Lotor’s betrayal, she feels like she has to tell him what Lance has been up to in space. She feels like she has to tell him about all of the flirting with the other girls and with her, about the moment when Lance’s bayard changed to a broadsword and Allura thought maybe they were headed somewhere before Lotor caught her attention again.
She approaches him, quiet and soft and feeling regretful for what she’s about to tell him.
To her surprise, Griffin barely blinks when the words come out of her mouth.
Instead he shrugs, dismisses her. Tells her that that’s just how Lance is.
And when Allura looks back at him, eyes wide and wondering out-loud how Griffin can be okay with Lance flirting with other people, Griffin says, “We’ve already talked about it. I know what he did and why he did it.” And then he adds, “And none of that matters, because he was in love with me the entire time and I was in love with him. We’re together now and I’m not letting him go again without a fight.”

Book1 Hope Returns Chapter 10  Black out By GoldstoneGolem64
In the village Allura Coran And Adam watched as the lions land close by. then they saw a massive metal dragon.
For Coran the moment he saw the Valkyrie he remember O’ryan and the project he had been working on in secret from king Alfor and the other, he remembered their last conversion and their last moments of friendship
Ten thousand years ago
O’ryan  you have to tell Alfor about this
No I will not tell that fool or any of follower about the Valkyrie. O’ryan counter
Why are you being so Stubborn about this if he finds out you will be exiled or worst Executed for treason Coran said trying to reason with him
Then I will die knowing what I did sacred him enough to actually do something to stop the problem instead of  hide behind his precious Voltron He yelled
You helped build Voltron why are you so hellbent on destroyed? Coran yelled back
I was a fool to do so back then a stupid young man full of ambition willing to do anything for his king. If you had told me three hundred years ago that Alfor wanted me to jump in to the sun I would happily dose. but now after all the thing my creations has done over the year I see my greatest achievement. But after all the horrible thing it did all I see now is my great and last mistake. He yelled
How can you said that it has done nothing but bring peace and bring so many races together Coran said
But how many lives were lost before the peace? how many new enemies have come to take Voltron for themselves? How long until one of them take Voltron and corrupted it to their will or until a stronger enemy comes along  and wipes us out because they feared voltron power? Voltron is a time bomb for are extinction. So how long coran tell me how long until are world burns because of his hubris or because of his pride? Because I will not stand by and wait for him to stand up and deal with the problem on his own with out the aid of Voltron. So Coran tell your king about my project send me to my death but know is when are world is burning and Voltron is nowhere to be found you will we be sorry for not listening to me when you had the chance because are day are number and I'm going to stop that clock before it hits zero O’ryan said leave the room.
Coran watched has the Valkyrie land and saw the pilot walked out in a paladins helmet with the visor tined to hiding his face from the paladins.
Jay removed his helmet  reveal his face to the other. they all saw a man with long messy dirty red hair, hazel eyes, light brown skin and red cheek marks.
Allure ran to jay and hugged him. tell me where your from how many of us are there? what is are new home like? Allura asked with so much wonder in her eye
Has jay and Beauregard explained everything they know Adam watched as Shiro walk out the black lion the two locked eyes.
Hey Adam said A little sheepishly
Shiro starred in  silence then he through off his helmet and ran at Adam. before he could react Adam found himself being held up and in along passionate kiss. They broke apart smiles on both of their faces. Adam saw the scar cross Shiro's nose.the white tufted of hair and his right arm was just cold hard steel.
What have they done to you my love?Adam said saddened by what he saw.
They did a lot to me but the though of seeing you and Keith again kept me going Shiro Said
good to know your a live my dear now I get to kill you but not right now I just want to be held he and saver this moment. Adam said going in for another kiss
the moment they had was broken by three voices sing can you feel the love tonight. Adam starred at jay, Val and Beauregard all of them singing happily as their friend was having a very tender reunion .
I hate you three so much right now Adam said
We know Adam we know Jay said in return
Keith watched quietly has both Allura and Shiro were reunited with their loved one and another of their race they once though were dead
Hey Keith do you trust Jay? Pidge asked
Why wouldn't I he saved Adam and brought him to me and Shiro Keith replied
Doesn't it seem a little to convenient that he shows up with Adam and helps us fight that robeast? Pidge said
Yay seem a bit suspicious hunk said
Also he's get a little to chummy with Allura Lance said a little annoy that someone was take Allura attention off of him
You can trust him The Valkyrie only works for alteans that meet her requirements just like the lion.so if you don't trust him trust her.
Alright said pidge
Ok Hunk said
What ever you say lance replied
Good to know Keith said while watching jay for a bit then turned his attention to lance being his cutely annoying self as always then notice pidge doing the same.
Back at the castle of lion
Allure walked in the hanger bay where the Prometheus and the Valkyrie were being held along side the lion. They found jay dismantling the robeast arm trying to find was made the ball form so he could use it to do something with that she was currently unaware of.
Hey princess what brings you here? jay asked
I just wanted to let you know that there is a party going on down stairs if you wanted to join? Allure replied Also can you tell me more about mar please.
Jay walked over to allure coved in oil and grease so what do you want to know princess?
If I were to go there will they welcome Coran and I back ?She asked.
Yes but not as Royalty be has just regular people we don't have any royals in power  because we have the council the only royal we have is Queen Selvaria and she is just queen in title not in power.
Allura was happy to know that her aunt was alive. so when we start flying we will head to mars first thing then she said.
No we don't we stay as far away from mars as possible until we can take out the empire because we are the most wanted people in the universe right now and I'm not putting my family or the family's of the paladins at risk just so you can see your people again I'm sorry but that's my stance on your plan but I cant stop you from doing what you do.But choose wise my princess
Allura was mad but she understood why jay wanted to keep mars safe she didn't want a repeat of altea on both earth and mars. Thank you for your input but you still don't answer my first question .will you be at the party ?Allura asked
Just let me get my Sunday best and I will meet you there Jay said
Allure left and Jay walked in to the Prometheus as most of the security drones walked out to the party .
Hey Beauregard what are you doing?Jay asked
He’s playing the roll of the guard today at the party Pidge said with his triangular galra security bots floating next to him
But why tho? Jay asked
We can never be to safe and Adam told me to so yay that's why Beau replied in his original body walking out of the ship
Ok have fun jay said just walking past them to the bathroom to taking a nice hot shower. Walking in to his room to find his paladin armor on the bed. Putting it on match the other paladin and as well Adam had taking his only suit. Why he had a suit on a cargo ship was the fact that the ship was his house that's what he had told Adam when he ask when he asked if Jay had something he could wear. He spent all of money on this ship so he didn't have to share the profit with the person flying him to where the guide send him. the armor was like the other but the colors were the same as the Valkyrie the chest plate was gold the shoulder guards  were platinum as where the legs the jump suit was a silver compared to the black of the other. looking in to the mirror looking at them self and thinking dam I look good. The party was not much but hey a party a party he drank the nunvill like he was back in his first year of collage. seeing Shiro talking to pidge at the front door with the security drone on the bridge just in case of a galra attack he saw Adam talking to hunk and beau about the Prometheus he saw lance and Keith talking about a cheer like when I said volt you said Tron witch Keith couldn't  quiet get it witch Jay found funny but what he Also noticed was the way Keith stared at lance when he did something.Jay though maybe he could help Keith out later with his love life but for now let's party
As the party came to a close hours later   allure pidge and Keith left . so Jay, lance and hunk started to take about the reality of the situation. While Adam and beau walked to Shiro to give him compony.
So how long do you think it will take us to fix the universe? lance asked
Five to six year as long as we don't die jay said
five year how do you know that ?Hunk asked
Simple if we free the right plants find a few rebel groups kill the king and cause enough damage to the armada in the first two year we got this war in the bag but if Zarkon has a kid or a crazy wife or husband I'm not one to judge. then we might be out here for eight year tops. I might be wrong though I'm a little buzzed Jay said taking a swig from the bottle of nunvill he grader from his fridge with confides.
So how long for each ?Lance asked
Two years for killing the royal family Four for the cleaning up what was left maybe less if we have help and two years to set up a government of sorts give or take .
I like those odd.I'm going to the kitchen to see if the others are there and tell them the good new and gets some more food you guy want anything ?Hunk Asked.
no I'm fine lance said
I'm good jay replied
Alright see you guy later Hunk said walking toward the kitchen
Lance started to walk way and jay followed behind him walking and talk to the bridge of the castle of lions. looking for the milky way on the star map. coran walked in to find the to them looking for there homeworlds and decide to help the boy out
and here we go Coran said showing both world.
Hey lance are you alright ?Jay asked
I'm fine I'm just scared that I wont see my family or the beach or smell my grandma’s garlic knots or hear the sound of the rain lance said listing off thing that he missed from earth
What is rain?coran asked
Its water that falls from the sky lanced said.
That sound weird on altea it rains rock coran said
What that crazy jay said laughing a little
Yea that sound just as weird as water falling from the sky Lance said also laughing
three of them kept talking about the weird thing that happen on their homeworlds .then the door opened to let rover in as lance and coran were leave the room
oh hi rover lance said
hey little buddy jay said
where pidge ran through lance and jays mind. then they realize that isn't rover. has the bot started binging red lance through up his shield to protected Coran . Jay activating both of his shields to block the blast but was sent flying backward hit a console. The castle went dark.Shiro was standing in front of the door way confused as everyone ran in to see what happen. But for everyone all they know was that the power is out leaving them all in a total BLACK OUT

can u please do a frends to lovers hc with keith pls
friends to lovers keith has me weak…friends to lovers ANYTHING is cute to me
•the two of you had met in 8th grade•you were both in the same science class, but you never talked so when the teacher paired the both of you up for a science project you were forced to speak•you kind of hated keith at first since the way he spoke was kind of rude—later on you found out that he was just scared of being around people and making friends since he didn’t want them to leave him
•so you ended up becoming stubborn as a result, and refused to let him be like that—you told him once, “you deserve someone that you can call a friend in your life.” and he literally vowed to protect you with his LIFE
•when the both of you went to Galaxy Garrison together you were around Shiro more often than before•have y’all seen that twitter thread where the older brother helps the little brother out when he invited a girl that he likes over for dinner? he makes the lemongrass rice n the curried chicken n everything? yah that’s shiro.—[a little bonus] you and Keith have been the topic of conversation in many of Shiros text messages with Keith, this may or may not include: “gosh they’re so sweet when are they gonna admit their undying love” “shiro….it’s 1 AM” “ya I know but…keith is laughing with them on FaceTime.” (Matt ships you two after that night)
•anyway Keith doesn’t realize that he thinks of you as a tiny bit more than a friend, until he’s kicked from the garrison, and Shiro disappeared—you had left the garrison and visited him the day shiro disappeared, you had immediately gone to find him the second you heard the news—that was the first night you’d ever seen him cry—when he was kicked out, you went and comforted him as well, understanding that he was going through a lot, and then offered for him to vent to you (your choice if you think he would or not)
•when the both of you had gone to space, he was worried about your safety, but refused to let you know. So he ranted to Shiro for almost an hour until Shiro told him to just talk to you—well…he tried…—but every time he did you were either doing something, sleeping, or he was too nervous and had lost his motivation
•you had ended up going to him actually (yes, again, just like the other times)—for some reason that made him much more comfortable and the two of you talked about simple things for a while until he got very serious and instead of releasing his worries about your safety he ended up confessing his love
•uhm, how? idk, he doesn’t know, you don’t know, Shiro doesn’t know, Alfor doesn’t know…not even Zarkon…the boy just blurted it all out to you casually like it was a conversation about a video game or something—crazy wild boy
•you ended up listening the whole time as usual, and also explained that you felt the same way!!!—keith…smilin’….ohmydojdnx HeLP me!!!—he giggled IDC he most definitely did that giggle thing where you look down n stuff and shut his eyes for a quick second oMG I’m rising from the dead rn
•you are now a lovely couple, and he loves you very very much and he thinks that you are the most beautiful star in the universe

Spirit Week (Voltron Fanfic)
Fictober 18 Day 15
Voltron fanfic featuring Klance future family (as seen in "Forts" from Day 11) FLUFF
Minor S07 Spoilers
Rating- Pg (minor language, same sex couple)
Prompt: "I thought you had forgotten."
Halloween was one week away and for some reason, this year, everything was beyond busy. The little school on board the Atlas had chosen this week to be 'spirit week' and the preschool had joined in- which meant that three of their four kids had different thematic activities every. Single. Day. If that wasn't busy enough, there were Coalition meetings every single afternoon that required the full complement of Paladins and MFE pilots to be in attendance. Plus, Thace had been sick the week before and was trying to catch up on his missed work, AND Kashi was teething.
All those things combined had left both Keith and Lance wrung out and twitchy Keith loved their life, and most of the time they did a great job juggling work, family, friends, and couple time. But, every now and then, everything seemed to happen all at once. It didn't help that Lance insisted that McClains went ALL OUT for Halloween, and that making sure the kids got to fully participate in all the 'fun' school activities was important to Keith. He remembered how much he'd hated it when he was in the system and his foster parents, or group home workers couldn't be bothered to make sure that the kids in their care were wearing silly socks, or all blue, or dressed as their favorite story book character, or whatever. It sucked to be singled out for not doing the fun stuff, and Keith wanted to make sure that his kids never knew what that felt like.
So, on the weekend they'd prepped for each and every day. Monday- crazy hair day. Easy- Talia and Rai had long hair and Lance had grown up with sisters, so he was a whiz at that. He'd made tiny little buns all over Rai's head, then added pipe cleaner legs and googly-eyes stuck to bobby pins to turn them all into spiders. Talia's hair was pulled into a high ponytail and threaded through a thoroughly cleaned pop bottle with strategic holes to pool in a plastic drinking cup stuck to a headband. Thace's hair was shorter and paler, so he got spikes and colored hairspray. Done. The kids were thrilled and Lance had taken about 400 pictures of them before they'd left their quarters.
Tuesday was color day. Each class was assigned a color, and the kids dressed head to toe in it. More colored hair spray, and a deep dive into the McClain's family hand-me-down bins had outfitted Thace in "lime" (seriously, though? Lime? Not just green? Why so specific?) and the twins in "purple". Talia had been thrilled, purple was currently her favorite color. Again, leaving the quarters took longer than usual because of the photoshoot with Lance.
Wednesday had been 'silly socks'. That had required an actual shopping trip, and not only had they worn the silly socks on their feet, Lance's sister had shown the kids how to cut socks into fingerless gloves… which was cute, but had led to far too much teasing about his own teenaged fashion choices for Keith's liking.
Thursday was 'dress as your hero day', and when they'd gotten to school, a good 75% of the kids were dressed as Paladins, which was sweet and heartwarming (and led to about a million pictures, since Lance had INSISTED that they bring the kids to school wearing their armor). However, none of THEIR kids wanted to dress up as the Paladins of Voltron. Their parents and honorary aunts and uncles were definitely not 'cool' enough to be their heroes. Oh no- he and Lance had had to put together one Bi Boh Bi costume (Talia had been unable to explain to either of them WHY Bi Boh Bi was her hero, but he suspected she just liked yelling the name at the top of her lungs), one King Alfor costume (thankfully Coran had stepped in to help for that one), and one Kosmo costume. He wasn't cool enough for his actual son to consider his hero, but their space wolf WAS, go figure. Although, honestly, he was just glad none of them had wanted to dress up as Uncle Shiro with his 'cool arm' or Kolivan.
Friday felt like a gift to the parents after all the work of coming up with hero costumes- Pajama day. It should have been easier than it was. None of their three wanted to wear 'boring old' pjs, they all wanted new onesies in very specific themes (and yes, he realized his kids were spoiled… but they were perfect and they deserved to be spoiled and that was final). Of course, none of them had mentioned THAT until they were sitting down to supper on Thursday, and there was nowhere on the Atlas to get that kind of thing, so all six of them ended up on the surface, well past bedtime, with a cranky, teething baby, shopping for footie pjs: one alicorn (very specific- an alicorn has both a horn AND wings. If only one was present it was either a unicorn, or a pegasus- the things you learned from a four year old), one shark (because Thace was basically just 'Lance, the sequel' at the moment), and one 'scary halloween skulleekin' (that was too cute to ever be corrected- if Keith had his way, Rai would be calling skeletons 'skulleekins' until he was 50)... and OF COURSE as soon as Lance saw that they made them in adult sizes, he insisted on getting them pjs, too. A penguin one for Lance, and a purple hippo one for himself. Even Kashi got one- his was a panda, and even Keith had to admit their little roly poly drool machine made the cutest panda ever.
Spirit week cost a small fortune… but the kids had been thrilled, which was what really mattered. It was just that between all that, AND the meetings, AND taking turns walking the halls with a howling infant every night, AND making sure they were all ready for the shockingly long list of Halloween-themed activities Lance's family had as traditions in the latter half of October, Keith really just wanted… like… a nap. Not even a long one. Just like, half an hour of solid sleep, without being chewed and/or drooled on by their youngest. He was seriously cute. Absolutely loveable… The apple of his daddies' eyes… but right now he was a slobbery mess who really needed to let his parents rest before they went completely off their rockers.
So, he'd been absolutely overjoyed when he'd gotten a text from Lance letting him know that Veronica had volunteered to take Kashi for the night, and that the other kids had all been packed off to sleepovers with various teammates. Talia at Shiro's, Thace at Pidge's, and Rai at Hunk's. All he could think about was how good it was going to feel to sleep through the entire night and wake up rested- and free of baby drool. Man, parenthood really changed your perspective on how to spend a night off.
He was barely awake when he reached their quarters. He hardly even recognized that he was hungry until he smelled the food that was waiting for him, which brought him up short. He took a deep breath, letting the aroma fill him. Lance had cooked. Not only that, Lance had cooked his absolute favorite Cuban meal, a secret family recipe for pernil relleno de moros y cristianos. If he was really lucky there would also be croquetas and Cuban corn on the cob. Special occasion cooking.
"It smells AMAZING in here, babe," he called out, toeing off his shoes and hanging up his uniform jacket. He picked up a few stray toys on his way through the living room, tossing them into the toy box with practiced ease. "I can't believe you cooked! How did you have the energy to cook?"
He rounded the corner and was caught up in a warm, lingering kiss from his husband, who took one look at his surprised face and chuckled. "Mmhmm, just what I figured. It's been so busy this week… no one would believe me when I told them I thought you had forgotten. But I know you. I knew it. You've barely stopped moving in days. You are running on autopilot. Babe, what's the date?"
Keith blinked at him, confused. "Umm… it's Friday," he started, glancing around for some kind of clue. He knew it wasn't their anniversary- they'd gotten married in June, and he NEVER forgot that… but Lance was one of those romantics that remembered every little milestone- although thankfully, he never expected Keith to remember the little ones. Finally, his eyes lit on the counter and the few small wrapped gifts that sat next to his favorite Hummingbird cake. "Shit… I can't believe I forgot."
Lance just laughed, handing him a drink and steering him to a seat at their table. "Yeah. Of course I cooked… AND made sure we had the night to ourselves. Happy Birthday, babe. Love you so much."
Keith snaked his arm around Lance's waist and pulled him into his lap, "how did I ever luck into marrying you? You're amazing, I can't believe you did all this! Thank-you." He took his time kissing his husband, wanting to make sure that there wasn't even the tiniest shred of a doubt in Lance's mind about how much Keith loved him and loved the life they'd built together.

How To Train Your Recruit

FanCanons - Shiro
Shiro Has A Past, and no, he’s not telling.
Shiro knows that Lance has inherent elemental abilities, despite the other trying to hide it. He also knows that without any (or very little) formal training, Lance is a hot (cold?) mess with them. Despite not understanding Lance’s obstinacy about admitting to them, Shiro respects that and starts leaving random instructional texts lying around for Lance to stumble over.
At twenty-seven deca-phoebs (years), Shiro is the youngest Captain of the Royal Guard ever. Despite the reservations of the Council, Alfor appointed Shiro to the post, and Shiro has worked hard ever since to prove that the King’s trust is well placed.
Shiro’s made a few questionable decisions - taking a half-Galra foundling under his wing being the most notable. Taking on an uppity kind-of-maybe-not-really noble with a history of insubordination was another. Introducing the two just to watch them fight was the third.
Shiro has no regrets about assigning Lance to guard Pidge: he figures that his two biggest headaches deserve each other.
“What do you think this is, a holovid? Stop charging me - you’re telegraphing every move in advance.” Shiro said, knocking Lance’s sword out of his hand with a practiced twist and slapping the pommel of his own blade against the younger man’s wrist. Ignoring the boy’s pained yelp, Shiro used the toe of his boot to kick the sword away. “Again.”
“Oh my gods, you are a slave driver.” Lance whined, shaking out his hand and glaring. “It’s barely a varga after sunrise!”
Shiro raised his eyebrow. “Uh-huh. And?”
“And you’ve had me out here since before that!”
“Good to know your eyes are working.” Shiro said mildly. “Now if only you would open your ears.”
“I hate you.” Lance grumbled, trudging over to where his sword lay in the dust.
Shiro ignored the insult, knowing that Lance didn’t really mean it. Well, he amended privately, perhaps he did right now - Lance was a lot of things (not all of them complimentary), but a morning person was not one of them. Before about 1000, the only thing Lance didn’t hate was his bed. (Coincidentally, Shiro had found that nearly 70% of his insubordination reports occurred before lunch.)
“Now,” Shiro instructed as Lance resumed his stance across from him, “let’s try that again - without the dramatic flailing this time.”
Lance gritted his teeth, eyes glinting dangerously, and Shiro repressed a grin. Good - he was getting to him. Without warning, Lance pushed off with his back foot, sprinting the short distance between them and swinging his broadsword into a short, overhead arc. Shiro blocked, letting the blade slide down and off his own before snapping his sword parallel to his body to block the short stroke aimed for his neck.
From here, he had two options: step back and slide their blades apart to prepare for the next strike, or step in and tangle their handguards, making it a contest of brute strength to hold onto the sword. Last time, he’d stepped in, and Lance had decided to try to overpower him.
Lance danced back as Shiro stepped in, sliding out of range with a scowl. He let Shiro knock his blade aside, using the momentum to bring the blade up into an overheard block as Shiro advanced.
“Good! You’re getting better at this.” Shiro praised, then brought his foot up and kicked Lance in the stomach, driving him back. Lance flailed as he lost his footing, sword dropping automatically as he stumbled and tried to regain his balance. Shiro moved aggressively forward, slotting his leg between the stumbling recruit’s and sweeping his ankle around to drag his foot out from under him. Lance hit the ground with an oomph, sword clattering out of his hand as his head hit the ground.
“Still got a ways to go, though.” Shiro observed, standing over the fallen young man. Lance glared, mouth twisting into a snarl, and Shiro’s eyebrows lifted as the air chilled around them. Not much - just a few degrees, but Shiro was familiar enough with elementals to recognize the signs.
Well, he thought faintly, how about that?
“Do you just drag me out here every morning to beat on me so you feel good about yourself of something?” Lance snapped. “There is literally no other reason for this.”
Shiro’s blinked, refocusing on the young man still sprawled on the ground in front of him.
“Sure there is. Someday, you’ll even figure out what it is.” He replied affably, knowing his genial tone would only annoy the other man more. “Now…again.”

Shiro figured out pretty quickly that the best way to keep Lance out of trouble was to keep him occupied. And, barring that, too tired to be bored enough to look for it. For the first few weeks, Lance’s schedule had been split between drills with Shiro and diplomacy with Coran. Then Lance had been shifted to physical training four days, and diplomacy two. Finally, physical training five days in the morning, with guard duty in the afternoons and diplomacy on an as-needed basis.
It was, Shiro often reflected, like dealing with an okami pup - you had to wear their energy down to a manageable level before trying to teach them anything. Then you had to convince them that what they were learning had a purpose, and wasn’t just useless fluff. (And even if it was useless fluff, that they just had to shut up and do it once in a while.) Fortunately, Shiro had experience with dealing with distracted, disinterested cadets: it just took the right application of physical exertion, followed by mental exertion, and keeping their interest by keeping them challenged.
“What the heck is this?” Lance squawked, jolting upright as Shiro dropped a text in front of him.
“Olkari delegates are arriving next movement.” Shiro replied. “Study up.”
Lance squinted at him suspiciously, and Shiro knew he was trying to guess whether he would be actually escorting/guarding the delegation, or simply guarding the doors. Shiro had set him to both tasks, telling him to “study up” every time. Lance had neglected to do so before, and it had led to him making a fool of himself by offering the wrong salutation when he’d been unexpectedly assigned to escort duty after a week of guarding doors.
The embarrassment, Shiro knew, was a better goad than any reprimand he could have delivered.
Shiro sat down at his desk, flipping open his own book and pulling out a ledger to take notes with. The silence lasted for about twenty dobashes before Lance leaned back in his seat, groaning.
“This is boring…” He whined. “When is lunch? Is it lunchtime? I feel like we should have eaten already.”
“What’s the gesture to greet the Kahnzada Nawab Ishmuil?” Shiro asked without looking up from his book.
“Bow.” Lance replied. “Straight neck, torso bent to twenty degrees. Right hand on left shoulder, palm in.”
“Where do your eyes go?” Shiro asked.
“On the floor…no!” Lance jabbed a finger at him, grinning victoriously. “Trick question! I’m a guard, so I keep my eyes on his waist to watch for weapons.”
“Good to know Coran’s lessons are paying off.” Shiro chuckled.
“Um, no?” Lance scowled. “Coran was going over place settings for a Balmaran dinner party.”
Shiro blinked. “But…Balmarans don’t have dinner parties.”
“That’s what I said!” Lance threw his hands up in the air. “But did he listen? No! He was all ‘Tsk tsk, young cadet, I’ll have you know that I’ve dined with many a Balmaran noble in my youth and-’” Lance broke off, hand flapping in a universal blah blah blah gesture. “I’m pretty sure he was confusing Balmarans for Rephodians, but I don’t know how.”
Shiro snorted in quiet amusement, flipping to another page idly.
“So, what are you reading, anyway?” Lance asked. “I mean, you already know all that crap about the Olkari, budgets were done last movement, and your report - which I know you’re going to have me type up, stop lying - isn’t due for another three quintents.”
“Mm?” Shiro glanced up at him. “Oh, this? It’s a book on basic studies for elemental magics.”
Lance froze. It was only for a tick, and then he was leaning on one elbow nonchalantly, glancing at his book like he couldn’t care less. “Oh, yeah? What do you need that for? Got something to share with the class?”
Shiro snorted. “Not likely. No, Alfor’s niece is a budding Plant Master, and she’s driving her guards crazy.”
“What, is she throwing seeds at them?” Lance sniggered.
“I wish.” Shiro frowned. “No, she’s eluding them to try to train on her own. I was hoping if I gave her some more…benign exercises, she’d stop trying to escape.”
“Give her some houseplants.” Lance grunted, flicking a page over. “Problem solved.”
“We did that.” Shiro rolled his eyes. “Two exploded, one grew out of control, and one caught fire.”
Lance’s gaze snapped up, jaw going slack. “It…it caught fire? How do you even do that?”
“No clue!” Shiro groaned. “I was hoping that this book would give me some insight but… I think it’s too generalized. General exercises, and I think she’s blown through or overpowered the green magic ones. Huge section on water magic, but that does me no good.”
Shiro leaned back in his chair, grasping the bridge of his nose in mostly-feigned exasperation. “I’m heading to the canteen. Want anything?”
Lance hummed thoughtfully. “The usual.” He held out a few losa, but Shiro waved them off, closing his book and setting it on the edge of his desk.
Lance stayed in the office.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Shiro couldn’t check out too many tomes outlining elemental magic studies without arousing suspicion. Luckily, there were a plenty available within the city’s markets, and Pidge was happy to direct him to ones that she had found useful. And if they happened to find homes in his office shelving, well, that just made him look more official to the people who thought looks mattered.
And if some of them disappeared after he’d finished reading them, Shiro pretended not to notice.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“You’re going to what?”
“Introduce him to Keith.” Shiro repeated patiently.
“That’s what I thought you said.” Matt swirled his ale in his mug as he regarded his friend steadily. “The way you say this leads me to believe that you don’t mean over a nice cup of mead, or a friendly hologame.”
“Correct.”
“And the reason for this is because…?” Matt asked, rolling his wrist, gesturing for his friend to continue.
“Lance isn’t really being challenged anymore.” Shiro sipped his drink. “I’m too busy to take him on daily like I was at first, but he’s good enough that he’s giving my lieutenants a run for their money. Which, don’t get me wrong, is good - it keeps them on their toes, but also means that I need to find a better challenge for him.”
“So your solution is to haul in Kogane.” Matt said.
“Not ‘haul in,’” Shiro huffed, “his detail on Javnil is almost up, and he’ll be back soon anyway.”
“You’re going to put your no-nonsense, super-serious, I-wouldn’t-know-humor-if-it-bit-me pupil in a ring with Lance.” Matt repeated.
“Why do you make it sound so crazy?” Shiro muttered rebelliously. “Keith is one of the best and he’d definitely provide a challenge for Lance. And Keith does have a sense of humor.”
“So set him to a new weapon! Rotate him into sparring with the rest of the troops. You don’t have to keep him on broadsword and with the Guards.” Matt rolled his eyes. “You know this - I know you do. So, the logical conclusion is… you’re looking for an excuse. You want Keith and Lance to meet. Stop obfuscating and fess up.”
“Pulling out the big words now.” Shiro muttered. “Alright, fine, full disclosure: I think that the SpecOps unit isn’t doing Keith any good. Not physically-” Shiro waved Matt off as he opened his mouth, “Physically, he’s in his element. I mean…he’s more withdrawn. Less social, if that’s possible, even amongst his teammates. It’s weighing on him.”
Matt leaned back in his chair, studying Shiro closely. Shiro let him, knowing that Matt was every bit the bright mind his father and sister were. Processing time was a part of that, before brilliance emerged.
“You’re an idiot.” Matt said bluntly, ignoring Shiro gaping to take a long draw on his mug. “I know what you’re trying to do. And putting Keith and Lance in a ring together might work out in your favor - Lance may indeed prove to be a valuable foil to Keith’s seriousness, and the two might eventually become fast friends. But they might also tear each other’s throats out before they get around to reconciling their differences.”
“Well,” Shiro shrugged, “I guess we’ll see.”

VLD S8E12: The Zenith
Season 8 Episode 12: The Zenith
Transcript by @dragonofyang
Summary: With the combined power of the Sincline mech and the black Altean mech, Honerva pierces through realities to find her perfect universe, forcing the Atlas crew and the Paladins of Voltron to chase her across realities as they slowly become unraveled.
[Google Doc]
Keith: Paladins, report status.
Lance: I’m offline!
Pidge: Me, too.
Hunk: Uh, guys, are you seeing this?
Lance: What are those things doing?
Pidge: That’s how she’s getting in.
Keith: What do you mean?
Pidge: Honerva! She’s using those wings to pierce the barriers between realities. It’s her entry point!
[Cut to the IGF-Atlas.]
Shiro: Allura, come in. Are you there?
Allura: Shiro, I read you. Honerva combined her beast with Lotor’s Sincline. She has the comet ore, and with it, the ability to traverse realities. I’m headed to my lion now.
[Cut to Hunk, Coran, Romelle, and Tavo inside Yellow Lion.]
Coran: Our universe is collapsing, just like the day we lost the Castle of Lions. Those wings are causing the very fabric of our reality to disintegrate!
Hunk: Then we’re gonna stop that thing before it breaks through. Yellow Lion’s back!
Keith: Hunk, get your passengers back to the Atlas.
Hunk: Copy that.
[Cut to Merla as she awakens.]
Honerva: My loyal warriors, Merla proved disloyal. She turned her back on our mission and the future of Altea. But you two have remained by my side, and you will know true victory. The glory of Altea will be yours.
[Cut to the Lions as they power on.]
Pidge: Those robeasts are headed our way! Just in time! My lion’s responding!
Lance: Mine, too.
Keith: Allura, do you copy? Can you get to your lion? We’re gonna need Voltron.
Allura: Hold on. I’m coming!
[Cut to the IGF-Atlas.]
Shiro: In the meantime, the Atlas has you covered.
Coran: Wait, what about the collapsing universe? We need to stop it!
Keith: Coran, we’re counting on you to figure something out.
Coran: What? Me? I don’t know anything about that?
Keith: Then find someone who does! We need to stop that weapon before it breaks through realities. Paladins, do everything you can to keep the robeasts distracted. Let’s give the Atlas a shot.
Shiro: Atlas crew, prepare for transformation sequence.
[Cut to the lions as they fight the mechs.]
Lance: Nice shot!
Keith: Guys, I’m going in to stop Honerva!
Honerva: Still.
Keith: No!
[Cut to Coran, Romelle, Tavo, and other Atlas crew as they float through a hallway.]
Iverson: MFE pilots, report to your hangars! Stand by for launch!
Coran: I have an idea how we can stop the collapsing of space-time. I’ll grab Slav and Sam. You two get the Alteans and meet me back here in ten doboshes!
[Cut back to the lions as they fight the mechs.]
Hunk: Now, Pidge!
Keith: Fall back!
Shiro: Allura, now’s your chance!
Keith: We can’t get past them, so we’re gonna have to defeat them. Paladins, on me! Form Voltron!
Allura: Remember, those weapons can siphon our energy, so we need to avoid a direct hit.
Keith: Pidge, arm cannon!
Pidge: It’s the Altean!
Lance: Why is she helping us?
Merla: Please, do not harm them. They were misguided, much like I was. We all were!
Keith: Pilot capsule still intact.
Honerva: No!
[Cut to the IGF-Atlas.]
Coran: We need an escort to Honerva’s pyramid structure!
Shiro: What? Right now?
Slav: Yes! The sooner we go, the higher the probability that we can use the Alteans to stop the impending space-time rupture!
Coran: It’s actually similar to how we stopped the rupture when Voltron entered the quintessence field.
Sam: Only this time, that superstructure will be the energy amplification conductor and the Alteans will be the energy source.
Coran: Though, we’re still working out how to transfer their quintessence into the structure, but, you know, some things are just gonna have to be figured out on the fly!
Shiro: Get a team in place.
[Cut to the Altean mech and Voltron fighting.]
Keith: Final robeast out of commission! Hunk, form cannon!
Hunk: I’ve got lock!
Allura: Honerva has pierced realities.
Keith: Come on, we’re going in! Atlas, stay on me!
Coran: I’m afraid the Atlas can’t do that.
Pidge: Coran’s right. It isn’t made out of the same ore. It can’t traverse realities.
Keith: Then we’re going in alone.
Slav: Actually, that appears to be problematic as well.
Keith: What?
Slav: The statistical likelihood of Voltron succeeding against Honerva in a one-on-one battle is well below improbable.
Allura: We’ll have a better chance than if we don’t try at all. Balmera.
Lance: What’s going on?
Coran: It’s a convuldrum, the converging of Balmeras.
Lance: What called them here?
Hunk: Shay.
Coran: Quiznak!
Shiro: What just…?
Hunk: Whoa!
Lance: No way!
Pidge: This is crazy!
Allura: I don’t know what just happened, but now we have a chance.
Keith: Let’s stop Honerva.
Shiro: Coran, we’ll need you to secure the area and find a way to suppress this rift.
Coran: Yes, sir!
[Cut to Coran in the rebel ship.]
Coran: Wait! I know how to get the Altean energy into the structure. Drop Sam, Slav, and I off at the pyramid. Then I’ll need you to take the Alteans to the Balmera.
Slav: You’re wearing the right socks today, aren’t you?
[Cut to the Atlas/Voltron fusion mech as it passes through the rift.]
Allura: Is this…
Pidge: It’s an alternate Altea.
Lance: And it looks like this reality is crumbling, just like ours!
Hunk: How come it’s disintegrating so quickly?
Pidge: Those wings created a sort of cosmic tunnel in one blast. The rift must lead directly to the reality Honerva’s been looking for.
Shiro: And any reality that those wings bored through is falling apart.
Keith: We have to keep going!
[Scene change to Coran, Slav, Sam, and the Alteans entering the pyramid.]
Coran: We must hurry!
Sam: Okay, I think this is it. Powering the amplification module.
Slav: I’ll redirect the target to the rift. If we hit it with enough energy, it should seal.
Coran: Are the Alteans in place?
N-7: They are set.
[Scene change to an alternate Altea.]
Allura: All these innocent lives. There’s no limit to what Honerva will do or the lives she’ll tear apart to get what she wants.
Shiro: That’s why we need to stop her.
Allura: Even then, I fear she’s started a chain reaction that can never be undone.
[Cut to the Balmera convuldrum.]
Coran: We’re in place! Balmeras, channel your energy into the pyramid! Yes, it’s working! The channeled energy from the Balmeras seems to be holding the rift together.
[Cut to the Atlas-Voltron mech.]
Keith: Countermeasures! Form sword!
[Cut to the bridge of Oriande.]
Sam: Our current power level isn’t enough to maintain the rift!
Coran: Then we’ll hold it as long as we can! Every tick gives Voltron a chance.
Krolia: Coran, it’s Krolia. What can we do to help?
Coran: Krolia! Kolivan! Thank the ancients you’re here! We need all the energy we can harness to prevent the rift from expanding further.
Krolia: Copy that! Galra fleet, adjust the frequency of your ion cannons and aim at the pyramid structure.
Coran: Come on, please. A little longer! Voltron needs us.
[Cut to Honerva in her mech.]
Honerva: This is where it ends for you!
Lance: We need to get up.
Hunk: I can’t move.
Shiro: The ship’s not responding.
Allura: Honerva, she’s absorbed all our strength.
Pidge: This reality… it’s over.
Keith: No. We’ve always done the impossible. Our strength is our bond. Our power comes from each other. As long as we’re a team, we stand a chance. Sendak. Zarkon. Lotor. We’ve saved our universe countless times, but now all the realities are in need of Voltron. So this isn’t the end just yet. We need to get back up and stop Honerva once and for all! Fire boosters!
[Cut to the bridge of Oriande.]
Sam: The Galra fleet have depleted all their energy, and the Balmerans and Alteans are at their limit. At this rate, we won’t be able to contain the rift!
[Cut back to the Atlas-Voltron mech as it approaches the shrinking rift, then cut to Honerva’s mech emerging into deep space as she approaches Daibazaal.]
Zarkon: You’re getting faster.
Sendak: Not half as fast as the emperor.
Zarkon: Stay back! What’s your name?
Honerva: You don’t recognize me? I’ve searched beyond the stars to be here.
Zarkon: I said stay back!
Honerva: To be with you. And to be with my son.
Zarkon: Honerva. Is it truly you?
Honerva: It is.
Zarkon: I never thought I’d see you again.
Honerva: I never doubted. My memory of you and Lotor kept me alive. Tell me, where is my child?
[Scene change to the bridge of a Galra ship headed for Altea.]
Zarkon: I vowed to raise our son as you would have wanted. He excels in his Altean studies. Lotor has his mother’s intellect.
Alfor: Empress Honerva… It is an honor to see you once more. All of Altea will cherish this day.
Allura: Please, come with me. Your son awaits your presence.
Honerva: My son.
Lotor: Mother?
Honerva: Please, my child, come to me.
Lotor: No.
Zarkon: Lotor, it’s okay. It’s your mother. She has returned.
Lotor: She’s not my mother!
Honerva: I may appear changed, but I assure you, my love for you is that of a mother for her child. Come to me.
Lotor: She is not my mother.
Zarkon: Don’t speak like that.
Honerva: Please.
Lotor: No. My mother is dead and you cannot replace her!
Zarkon: Perhaps this is overwhelming for the boy. Please, if we had some time…
Honerva: Time? You speak to me of time? I’ve spent lifetimes trying to get back. Countless worlds have fallen in the wake of my efforts to return to you. And this is how you welcome me? My own child, my own husband question who I am? I have sacrificed more than you will ever know!
Zarkon: What is that?
Honerva: No, it cannot be!
Zarkon: You brought this abomination upon us? You are not the empress. You are not my wife! Guards! Guards!
Honerva: If there is no place in this universe for me, then there will be no universe at all.
End.

What is Voltron really? + Extra Keith theory
I’ve been re-watching S1 EP1 today and I just can’t help but wonder what the scene where everyone discusses the blue lion/mystical energy means. Obviously it shows Keith being drawn to this mysterious energy out in the desert, which eventually leads them to the blue lion but it still has other mysteries.
Tumblr media
The cave where they find Blue had carvings that tell a story of the blue lion (just like the rest of the lions except for Red and Black who were both kept on ships and not on planets). This leads me to suspect at first that maybe the native people of those planets must be responsible for those cravings or possibly the aliens who hid the lions in the first place. This is the first question I’d like to ask and hope that it will be answered in future episodes... Who brought the 3 lions (Blue, Yellow and Green) to the planets they were hidden on? What if they piloted them? I’m not sure if it were the original paladins since they would have been long defeated and possibly killed by Zarkon before the lions would be hidden. If the paladins died, it would mean that Alfor had no other choice but to hide the lions (since he couldn’t use them for battle without their paladins).
What confused me more than the markings was this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The carvings not only focus on the blue lion but also some kind of an “event” happening. In the context we are given, we are suppose to think that it foreshadows the rise of new paladins who will come to save the universe from Zarkon. The “arrival” as mentioned, is suppose to be Shiro crashing down on Earth (after spending 1 year in Galra captivity).
I can only think of one possible explanation for this and it’s the classical route I would expect the creators to take. I really hope it’s not but as we watch the episode, we get a sense of feeling that it is all ‘destiny’ which led them all to meet and find the blue lion. I’m not trying to say that it’s anything bad, especially since this is the 1st episode and all but I really hope we get more explanation in future seasons.
Did ‘destiny’ really bring them all together or did someone write this message on the wall on purpose? Since Voltron is a mysterious entity (which the narrative explains was practically built by itself with little help from Alfor), would it have the mystical power to foreshadow the future? Did Voltron/the lions themselves write these cravings on the wall, predicting the future and the arrival of the new paladins who would save the universe? It would be the easiest explanation for the creators to pull out and I have a strong feeling that this is what they’ll do. As it is, Voltron is essentially portrayed as powerful, mystical and with many mysteries. Even though Alfor built it, even he didn’t know the lions could form Voltron (which I think really doesn’t make any sense). The current paladins (as we are led to believe) still have powers they haven’t unlocked so yes, Voltron really is mysterious, a mythical creature with unknown origins.
Actually let’s look at the carvings...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It surprises me that many people didn’t see this specific image because I think it’s important. At first I thought it showed Voltron because Voltron does have horns but then as I looked at it more, it began to resemble a villainous figure even more. Further proof of this are the tree men that are seen with swords pointed towards the figure. What comes to mind right away would be “That’s Zarkon!” but what if it’s not? What if it’s a creature much more powerful than Zarkon himself? A creature from another reality? (One that is possessing him?)
Moving on...
Tumblr media
So the things I circled in red are what I believe to be portals to other dimensions. Voltron is shown to have the capabilities to travel to and from dimensions and while it could be a simple wormhole our heroes frequently use, I believe it’s related to the dimensions. Stay with me here, I’ll explain this later on.
Tumblr media
The carvings I’ve circled here are what I believe to be different creatures from different dimensions. It would make sense if the portals are really gates that lead to other realities (which the creatures would have passed through to get to the dimension they are in now as shown in the carvings).
Tumblr media
As we are show in S3 Episode 7, the creatures have the ability to shape shift. Their bodies are like liquid so they have the ability to take on any shape they’d like (this would mean that they could take any shape of the creatures that are shown in the carvings). In that sense they are like parasites but... what are they exactly? The creatures are shown to be destructive but is that their true nature? Honerva (now Haggar) is shown to degrade in her mental state due to too much exposure to quintessance.
Tumblr media
So what if the creatures are just like her? They live in a world of quintessance (as shown when Voltron travels to the other dimension and Zarkon tries to revive Honerva). Endless hunger for more? Could that be what is driving those creatures? Now I will speculate a bit and say that Haggar and Zarkon are controlled by those creatures (or possessed by them). Zarkon and Haggar’s goals could be directly reflected onto the creatures and if that is the case, then they are after the power to travel through different dimensions in order to consume as much quintessance as they can find. The answer to that? Voltron.
Tumblr media
So back to the wall carvings...
Tumblr media
There are 2 lions that are drawn as well and those are the Voltron lions. Seeing the scenery that the carvings portray, I’m led to believe that this is a battle that took place in another dimension? Perhaps one where Voltron didn’t exist in a sense it does now but in another way...
Tumblr media
Voltron lions are shown to be sentimental beings with minds of their own. They ‘live’ unlike the ships which Lotor created (although we still didn’t see much of Lotor’s ships so that is a discussion for later). Still, the lions are alive. So what if... before Voltron became ‘Voltron’, what if it was still guarding the dimensions as spirits? Then when Alfor discovered the comet, he gave those protecting spirits a physical body to use? Thus the Voltron we know came about...
Tumblr media
I know this may be a crazy thought and I know, I know, it is nuts! BUT! What if Voltron is a mythical being that is tasked with protecting the different dimensions? It is tasked with keeping order between the realities and didn’t have a physical body before. However, when the comet landed and Alfor made the lions, he gave those mythical lions a physical body? It would explain why the lions are ‘alive’ and how they tie to the main theme of the show which is the travel of different realities and quintessance.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Voltron is the guardian of realities with the ability to travel between them. Even though we don’t know much about Lotor’s ships, we saw that Lotor was unable to travel to another reality and it may be due to the fact that the comet (while the same as that of Voltron) didn’t have the spirits of the lions? The lions existed before the ‘Voltron’ we know came to be, protecting the universe as it’s guardians. Alfor gave them a physical body (basically they built themselves) and now we have the Voltron we all know and love. It’s duty, however, is to protect the universe.
“Defenders of the Universe” is the title of the show and the definition of universe is... “all existing matter and space considered as a whole; the cosmos”. And while we can’t really define what is meant by “all existing matter” we can safely say that other universes are also included in that since they do exist, duh.
So I believe that the carvings we saw (Yellow, Blue and Green’s) were made by the lions themselves. Voltron foresaw the coming of our heroes, waiting for the day they would come and pilot it. Perhaps that is the one thing Voltron needs with the new physical body, pilots. The spirits of the lions don’t have enough power to control the body and so they need the paladins? To help them in battle and connect with them spiritually. Each of the paladins have to match the lion’s criteria, maybe to have a strong bond as well as help them battle? My brain is fried right about now... But I’ve made my main point.
Basically, Zarkon and Honerva died long ago and now their bodies are taken over by those creatures? Voltron is the protector of all realities and those creatures want to use it to travel to other dimensions to gather/eat more quintessance.
Extra:
This doesn’t have anything to do with Voltron but rather something else we all noticed in S1 EP1 and that is: How did Keith sense the blue lion on earth? Many fans speculate that it is because he is part Altean (a race that seems to have a connection with quintessance). However, I just thought... what if Keith is from another dimension? Or maybe his mum (who is implied to be Galra/alien)? This is just pure theory on my part and it isn’t supported in the show but the clues are still there.
Tumblr media
Keith was able to sense the blue lion on earth but at the same time, someone else was also able to sense it...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note the purple quintessance that are floating around her... If the aliens from the other dimension are controlling/possessing Haggar, then her Altean heritage may not be the reason she is able to sense the blue lion. If the creatures who are battling against Voltron (and are after it) are able to sense it, then it would make sense for Haggar to be able to sense it as well. If she is possessed.
Now you may say “But Allura can sense the lions too!” Well not quite... While Allura is shown to have the power to manipulate quintessance, she can’t sense the lions. I mean she can but only because of this...
Tumblr media
Alfor connected the lions to Allura so of course she would have a connection with them. HOWEVER, Keith and Haggar have no connection to them but they could still sense them. Haggar has a connection with the creatures from another reality and Keith’s heritage is a mystery...
My theory is that one of Keith’s parents is from another dimension or Keith himself is? And Haggar, since the alien is possessing her, is able to sense it too.
When the creators were asked about this (As to why Keith could sense the blue lion), their reply was... Keith is “sort of going above and beyond maybe some of the abilities of the other paladins” (25:40). Tim Hedrick added on that the season, for Keith, is about “unlocking new powers, finding more about who he is” (25:58) (This was said at the Wondercon panel in April.
I know this is SUPER CRAZY and total nonsense but think about it. It’s possible (either that he’s from another dimension or just has Altean blood?)
*realises that the post is too long* So yeah, that is all I wanted to say. I hope you weren’t intimidated by the size of the post (sorry that it’s so long).

Clone Shiro is a glorified King Alfor Hologram and this boy Sendak really be out here...
I guess I’ll start with what I believe.
Shiro WAS in the process of being turned into a sleeper agent before Ulaz helped him escape. When the galra lost shiro, they decided to do the next best thing. Clone him. I’ll explain why:
Throughout the show, no one real talks about why the galra needed shiro so much. Or why he was so important. He was suppose to be the galras greatest weapon according to Hagar.
Tumblr media
But why would they need him if A) Voltron wasn’t active at the time he was captured and B) the galra are extremely powerful and are conquering solar systems pretty easily?
My guess was that they were going to use shiro to infiltrate rebel forces. The galra have gotten a pretty bad name through the 10,000 yrs they’ve been fighting. You can see through the treatment of the blades that the galra aren’t very liked. And Some of the rebels have been around for a very long time like the blades. So the galra seriously needs to get rid of them. What better way than to take out rebels than using a sleeper agent. And shiro was perfect for the job for many reasons.
Tumblr media
Everyone knows about shiro. He’s really made his mark with everyone. When they rescued those prisoners in the s1e1 the prisoners trusted him immediately. So he’d be perfect for a sleeper agent.
Tumblr media
Alright so they’re in the process of turning him into a sleeper agent, and The process is turning out to be harder than they thought. Shiro obviously wasn’t going to go through the process willingly so he probably faught back a lot. That’s not what you want with a sleeper agent, you want them to be as unsuspicious as possible right and not know they are a sleeper agent so their cover isn’t blown. obviously with time they could’ve done it but This process takes a very long time. Shiro was only in space for a year, and during this time he became the Champion of the gladiator ring. That doesn’t sound like a quick process. For him to become the champion and successfully he turned into a sleeper agent it would’ve taken more time than just one year.
So at some point they were going to have to make shiro forget everything they’ve done to him.
Tumblr media
Shiro is suffering a lot through amnesia, and some of it is because of his PTSD. But some of it definitely has to do with the process the galra were putting him through. He doesn’t remember a lot if not the great majority of his time with the galra.
In season 4, haggar mentions it’s hard to erase memories and Matt says the brain is hard to hack, so the galra were definitely having trouble with conditioning shiro. (It also explais why not all his memories are gone.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But regardless Ulaz, the BOI, ruined their experiment by helping shiro escape. And he did it just in time to save shiro from fully becoming the galras greatest weapon.
Tumblr media
Shiro was upset when Ulaz died because he had so many questions as to what they did to him. There’s no way they were just planning to give Him a weapon and not do anything to control him, because that sounds dumb. (It SUCKS because Ulaz would definitely have known what happened to Shiro. He probably could’ve cleared everything up.Rip Ulaz)
At this point the galra were like, “well shit, Now what?” Why not just clone him? How? They have his DNA, through the arm they took from shiro. Like that’s pretty much all they need. (Assuming the perfected cloning, which you know their technology is really advanced so that’s not a stretch) the problem with cloning is that the clone doesn’t have the memories and experiences the original person has. In the galras case that’s actually ya know A HUGE BENEFIT. they could literally shape and turn the Clone into whatever they want without any problems.
Tumblr media
And hey would you look at that their original experiment turned out to be the new leader of Voltron which they now have a clone of. What a perfect way to test it out except they’re going to need some memories to make Clone Shiro unsuspicious to the team. And The extraction of memories is extremely easy apparently.
Y'all remember King Alfor’s hologram.
Tumblr media
Coran in season 1 explain how Alfors hologram works.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(“Never been attempted on an unwilling participant.” Maybe not yet.)
Tumblr media
The process sounds really simple. Extract the memories and put them into castle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But in this case real shiro memories were inserted into his fake shiros arm. Hunk talks about inserting fake memories into shiro in season 2 so it’s possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So there, you got yourself the perfect clone ready to infiltrate your biggest possible threat. Now make his escape off the ship as believable  and authentic as possible and you’re good.
Tumblr media
Going back to the king alfors hologram, anyone think the hologram was a little off from what we saw in the flash back episode from the end season 3? Yes the hologram is “Alfor”, but not really. He just seemed different. This could explain why the Shiro we see now, the fake shiro, seems a little off as well.
I also want to talk about who else might have known about Clone Shiro other than Ulaz. Zarkon hasn’t really shown any indication that he knows. Haggar probably knows, just hasn’t said anything.  And obviously the galra on the ship who let Fake shiro escape know. But who else could have known??? I don’t know maybe like SENDAK.
Tumblr media
HE JUST GOT EJECTED INTO SPACE AND no on has mentioned him since. Now why do I believe he knows stuff?
The little exchange between shiro and Sendak in season 1 episode 9, is interesting. Especially these two lines.
Tumblr media
REFORMED? Are you serious???
Tumblr media
ARE YOU SERIOUS??????
Anyways I could totally be wrong and losing my shit and reaching for shit and that’s okay ya know. I just wanted to discuss with people about this.
Also check out these two theories X X because holy shit. They explain more evidence. So check them out.
Anyways thanks for reading because this was really long and all over the place.
also sorry for going crazy at the end but those two lines are just wild.
