"truth or dare?" lando asks. neither of you are even that drunk so how you had resorted to playing high school party games in the middle of the club was beyond you, all you knew that is if lando wanted you to jump off the nearest bridge you would be pulling up the directions on google maps on your phone seconds later.

"dare" you grin, thinking your choice to be bold, especially when you were playing with lando. your fears are confirmed when he smiles like a cheshire cat at your answer, like it was exactly what he wanted.

"okay well this is kinda a dare for us both, a challenge if you will.." lando trails off as you stand there, drink in hand waiting for him to continue with what was probably going to be a god awful plan or 'challenge' as he called it. you hum out to show you were listening and interested.

"it's simple really, we go around the club and try and see who can get the most numbers, whoever gets the most in the next two hours wins." lando explains. you honestly do not think you have ever heard of a worse game in your life. you guess it does not help if you were in love with your competition. you knew how hard it was seeing lando flirt with random girls in the clubs you had joined him in every weekend or so. you sigh as you contemplate his offer.

"what do i get if i win?" you ask, wanting to make watching the man you were in love with flirt it up with other girls, worth it. it is lando's turn to think as you watch on, desperate for him to decide to call it off, the idea of him getting other girls numbers unsettling, but you knew you could never pull out without hearing the end of it from your opponent.

that smile returns and before you can focus too much on the swirly, fuzzy feeling it creates in your stomach he's speaking up. "the winner gets a whole week of favours from the loser." you probably do not think hard enough about how badly this could end for you before you agree and you are both on your separate ways, hunting for your first victim. you do not feel very comfortable flirting with these random guys, promising to call them and the likes, when you knew that your heart belonged to the stupid boy who had probably only suggested this so he could get girls numbers for when he was lonely.

after an hour you had near enough given up as it felt draining talking to so many men, when none of them even cared enough to ask your name. it was exhausting and this point you knew you just wanted to go home but you knew you still had an hour of this left so you soldier on, continuing your bland and boring conversations with the lamest guys you had seriously ever met.

an hour and a half in and you had only gotten ten phone numbers., you knew as soon as you and lando had counted them up to see who the winner was they would be getting thrown away so you did not really care much to keep them pretty or even safe as you were sure you lost a few navigating through the club crowds.

you had tried not to watch lando jump from girl to girl, most of the time not even having to lay on any charm or anything. you decided in that moment to hate him for the rest of your life. even though you love him it was literally killing you to see this happen right in front of your eyes, and you had no one to blame bar yourself as you had literally encouraged this to happen by agreeing to his stupid dare/ challenge. at this point you had stopped caring about losing and started thinking about how what lando would make you do for the next week straight could never be as bad as watching him throw himself at hundreds of different girls. your eyes are glued to lando as you watch him saunter over to a group of girls, one you could recognise from a million miles away. it was that stupid model that was always liking and commenting on lando's instagram posts. you knew for a fact that she genuinely already had a liking towards lando and the thought of him handing her his number had made you feel sick to your stomach. there was no way in hell you were sticking around to see this one, you were sure this one would be the one that broke you.

you sling the coat that is hanging over your arm around your shoulder and slide your arms into the arms of the jacket before weaving through the crowd to the club exit. you knew lando would probably be going home with blonde model for the night, you heading home by yourself like always. you tried not to be bitter but you were so tired of begging anyone and everything that it would one day be you that lando begs to take home, even for just one night, you would take that over never knowing his touch easily.

you wait for your uber outside in the cold, hearing the noise of the club come and go as the doors to the building open and close as people enter and exit as they please. one of the last times you hear the door open and close you hear footsteps approach you slowly, you cannot even find it in you to be scared because you can tell exactly who it is from the footfall alone, nevermind the overpowering scent that seems to follow you around even after you had left the boys presence.

"y'going home already? cause y'know 've won?" lando teases but you are not in the mood so you fimd it hard to muster up even a fake laugh. lando frowns at you, confused.

"wait what's wrong?" he asks, hand coming to rest on your shoulder, spinning you around to face him.

instead of answering his question you reply "i have an uber coming. it's on its way." lando nods but speaks up again anyway.

"did you not like the game? did someone say something to you?" he presses, his sudden protective nature doing nothing to help the heart eyes you feel forming as you stare at him.

"no one said anything. how many numbers did you get?" you ask. lando frowns at the way you change the conversation, worried for you.

"i didn't get any." he says, hands coming up to cup your cheeks. you furrow your brows in confusion.

"i seen you talk to loads of girls?" you tell him, eyes trailing over his face trying to catch him out in a lie. you could not.

anyway 17. talk about your writing and editing process

so ive definitely talked about this before! but each part is difficult in its own way i think. if im not feral about a story its gonna take me a long time to write. but when i AM writing, i have to make an effort to set aside time to do so. i usually will try to aim for like, 100 words when ive made a decision to write. but sometimes its just a sentence! and thats okay, it happens! im glad to get something down when the going gets tough. but yeah what happens a lot is that as it goes on i get less excited about writing it and i have to really push to get it finished. i DO like finishing fics guys i PROMISE.

once its done i let it sit for between a week and a month. i dont look at it. i dont even Think about it (try not to anyway, lol). once ive decided that its editing time, i read through it again. this first time is not Really the time for spelling and grammar, but i do correct those things as i see them anyway. no the first read is for flow. do i need to add more detail? did a scene drag on too long? did a story feel too short?

(fun fact, in committing to the bit, i reread through it when i thought it was done and felt pretty bad about my contributions to it and felt like id have to go through a rewrite, complained to my cowriter about it, fell asleep, woke up to them giving me a lot of positive feedback, reread it again, and then added in a couple short scenes. and that fixed it.) (points to whoever can guess which parts i added in last)

uhhh and then after reading for overall flow, ill let it sit again for another few days, and repeat the process. if it feels good, ill go back in and read for smaller things. spelling, grammar, awkward sentences. let it sit again, read it again. once it feels upwards of 85% good to me, i decide im done.

WHEW. its a lot of letting it stew and rereading it. i think thats what it takes sometimes. that, and letting it be imperfect. its never gonna be Perfect, but there comes a point where its gotta be Done, u know? u know exactly what im talking about

I also went with Arwen and Marcia for the mystery couple because they've been on my mind a lot lately, I hope that's okay!

🤓 Is your oc chatty or quiet? are they at ease in social situations, or are they more shy?

Mason: Mason is very chatty. He’s the life of the party and can talk to anyone about anything. He’s really at ease in social situations and thrives on interacting with other people. 

Chase: Chase is kind of in the middle. He’s much more reserved around new people, but once he’s comfortable with you, he’s much more chatty and lively than he is with new people. He doesn’t love when he has to be in a really social situation and is on the more shy side. He also tends to stick close to whoever brought him (usually Mason) because they’re his comfort. 

Arwen: Arwen is pretty chatty. She's great at keeping conversations going and asking people questions about themselves but not in an obnoxious way. She’s pretty at ease in social situations, but she does have a limit, and once she hits that she needs to go be by herself and recharge her social battery. 

Marcia: Marcia is a chatterbox, especially with people she’s really close to. She’s really extroverted and social, and thrives on social situations. If she had her way, I think she’d be around people 100% of the time. 

☕️ Does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc)?

Mason: Mason has a major sweet tooth. He has a few drinks he really loves - chai tea lattes, sweet iced lattes, and hot chocolate. He really likes cinnamon flavors. He always asks for extra cinnamon flavoring in his chai teas, and the lattes he likes are cinnamon vanilla. He also likes cinnamon in his hot cocoa but for that it’s usually more important to him that he has extra whipped cream.   

Chase: Chase is a caffeine addict who requires coffee to live. It is what gets him out of bed and what gets him through the day. He’s a black coffee drinker and on occasion will get a latte (though not flavored). He usually starts his day off with some hot coffee at home and will stop for an iced coffee on his way to work. He does NOT like tea. He thinks it’s bullshit leaf water and the only time he consents to drinking it is when he’s sick and his throat is really bothering him, but even then he’s not happy about it lmao. 

Arwen: Arwen loves iced coffee no matter the weather. Even when it’s freezing, she prefers iced coffee over hot. She usually takes it with oat milk and whatever syrup she’s feeling that day, usually vanilla. 

Marcia: Marcia is a tea kind of person. She loved all kind of tea, but she tends to prefer earl gray or herbal teas. With earl gray, she takes it with a little bit of cream and sugar, and with herbal teas she’ll add a bit of honey. Not too much, just enough to give it a little bit of sweetness. 

🤒 Does your oc get sick easily?

Mason: He works with the general public (front desk at a hotel), so his immune system is pretty good. It’s not as good as Chase’s but definitely better than your average person. 

Chase: Chase’s immune system is pretty decent. He’s been teaching for quite a while now, so he’s really built it up. One year he was moved from fourth grade down to kindergarten and his immune system suffered quite a bit but it bounced back as soon as he was moved back to fourth grade. 9 and 10 year olds are just much less germy than little kids are. 

Arwen: Arwen gets sick a bit more than the average person, but her immune system isn’t awful, or anything. She tends to let herself get kind of rundown, stressed, and sleep deprived, and her body will be like “okay we’re DONE”. 

Marcia: Marcia’s immune system is amazing. She doesn’t really get sick easily, and never has, which does lead her to being less careful around Arwen than she should when Arwen is sick. It bites her in the ass sometimes but overall is able to survive a lot of bugs Arwen brings home. 

🎄 What is your oc's favorite holiday?

Mason: Mason loves the entire fall season. He loves Halloween and being THAT HOUSE that’s decked as much as it possibly can be, and seeing all the cute kids in their costumes. He definitely bought Lewis, that viral gigantic animatronic pumpkin guy from this year. He loves Thanksgiving, too. He insists that he hosts because an excuse to cook an entire meal and then have people sing his praises for how delicious everything turned out? Hell yeah. They usually do a big  Friendsgiving and people can bring dishes if they want but he does the majority of the cooking. He also really loves Christmas, he loves decorating the tree and house and putting lights up and getting to do all the fun Christmas traditions with his kids and with Chase. 

Chase: Chase’s favorite holiday is thanksgiving. He loves the food and he loves getting to spend time with his loved ones. He had a pretty rough childhood and upbringing, and they never really did anything for thanksgiving so there are no memories of it that have ruined the holiday for him, like Christmas has been. 

Arwen: Arwen’s favorite holiday is Valentine’s Day. She recognizes that it’s a bullshit, capitalist holiday, but she LOVES romance and to be romanced and she is a sucker for flowers and chocolates and a fancy date with her wife. It’s also a holiday that they both are usually able to get off unlike all the other big ones (Christmas, thanksgiving), and she loves it. 

Marcia: Marcia’s favorite holiday is New Years Eve. She (and Arwen tbh) is very big on holidays that they can celebrate just the two of them, and with this one she has an excuse to get all dolled up in her most gorgeous dress and heels and have a night on the town and get wine drunk with her wife.
