applying for GRANT MONEYYYY

submitting abstract proposals to conferences (and applying for MORE GRANT MONEYYYY)

reporting research findings (writing journal article manuscripts, preparing conference slides)

writing my actual dissertation manuscript lol

supporting and instructing my research assistants

sharing my research with mainstream public audiences

writing my non-fiction book based on my ongoing dissertation research

teaching classes, grading papers, holding office hours, fielding emails, writing letters of recommendation for all sorts of students' fellowships/grad admissions/grant applications, teaching students how to strategize their personal statements, grant purpose letters, and other aspects of apps, etc.

Ah, I see Shattered Fates Dreamtale as simply a different AU, which explains the changes made to the characters. However, I find the idea of characters reclaiming their names and birthdates deeply compelling.

I perceive him as someone always striving to gain control over his fate and personhood, or as someone trying to come to terms with the fact that he's fundamentally changed. As if to scream, 'I'm not who I once was,' yet he can't fully escape his past, shown in his choice to keep his circlet instead of discarding it, like Nightmare did.

I wonder, if he changed his own birthdate, would that imply a severing of the connection he shared with Nightmare by no longer sharing the same birthday? Is it his way of saying, 'We aren't twins anymore; we're not the same'? Or maybe he would go as far as changing the date for both of them.

It’s interesting to think that the date might still be a cherished memory for the twins. But, perhaps even more fitting, it could mark the day of the apple incident—as if that were the moment of his true 'birth.'

(And him being a Leo adds another layer; 'vivacious, theatrical, and passionate' feels like it really suits him.)

She even holds her chalice the same way (except she has milk instead of wine lol).

She is Babyheart. Shadowheart 2.0. Shadowheart’s little mouse. Serena’s little heart.

I will forever be obsessed with how she makes Shadowheart feel like she’s the greatest being who’s ever lived. Shadowheart carries so much guilt, and then she finds Serena and gets to know unconditional love. And THEN she gets the animals, her parents, and her mini-me, who heap love upon her every single day. She’s just so HAPPY.

And Serena? She’s in heaven. She has two Shadowhearts. Like, she got a mini carbon copy of her favorite person ever. She gets to see Shadowheart smile and hear her laugh first thing when she wakes up, every day. She has won at life.

Currently I am making very little money, so while that is scary it is also sort of the perfect time to test out some change in how I structure things on here! The tough thing with selling your own work is always how to price things - and it's the gentle balance of pricing for what you're worth, but also making a good price point that is accessible to more people!
