OMFG. In the World Cup of Cherry Magic, Thailand vs. Japan, WHEW, YESTERDAY'S EPISODE, AN EPISODE 11 (!!!!!), Thailand went deep into double overtime territory to pull out this GOAL, BABY:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I may continue with the sports metaphors, this was like the sickest bat flip out of Korean baseball that anyone's ever seen, Karan just hammering Achi's magical power over the metaphorical Green Monster:
youtube
I have so much more to say about this episode, including thoughts on the beach scene from earlier in this episode -- I have a whole list of CMT meta that I've been dying to write. But I just need to applaud:
1) X Nuttapong and the CMT writers for continuing to allow Achi and Karan to be so direct in their communication, and,
2) Tay Tawan. This was Tay Tawan's best episode by far. He's been playing Karan perfectly, a deeply simped-out dude for his man Achi, but especially on the beach, I felt like we saw the kind of depth of connection, wonderment, honesty, and emotional connection that Tay demonstrated as Shin in 3 Will Be Free, and even during many moments of emotional confusion as his Pete in Dark Blue Kiss.
I had been wondering to myself, during this series, if this series had allowed Tay to demonstrate his best acting: because Karan is so locked into simp mode, that mindset that Tay would have to click into seemed almost a touch one-dimensional for his talents (not that that's a bad thing, I think he's clocked into it wonderfully).
It was a different set-up, obviously, in Cherry Magic Japan, particularly when Kurosawa sat in Adachi's apartment after Adachi’s hospital scare. Kurosawa was scared shitless — he and Adachi both were concerned for Kurosawa’s stability in that moment.
My drama friends and I have commended CMT for a different kind of equity in communication and emotional connection between Karan and Achi vs. Kurosawa and Adachi. I don't fault CMJ at all -- both Adachi and Kurosawa are drawn more internally into themselves as opposed to Karan's and Achi's outward and empathic presentations, and that's just by way of different interpretations of these couples and the Cherry Magic framework among nations.
Karan’s tack of both remaining utterly calm at Achi's bedside after his fainting spell, and his physical demonstrativeness towards Achi on the beach and in the bedroom -- these are moments where we see a lot more nuance from Karan, as opposed to Kurosawa, in Karan's controlling and then letting go of his desire, and I'm just a little obsessed right now that GMMTV had Tay Tawan be able to act all of this out, and Tay is just eating it.
I have SOOOOOO MUCH MORE to say and think on regarding comparisons to Karanachi and Kurodachi, all good stuff, nuanced stuff that I'm just OBSESSING OVER between Thailand and Japan, but for now, I am giving Tay all my flowers and Korean baseball fan dances, because this episode 11 was just FUCKING AMAZING.

so, i really enjoyed earthmix in moonlight chicken and i get the vibe gmmtv wanted to build on that and give them another 'mature gays' type series/ie at least sth non-school based. im all for that on principle but sadly ossan's love sounds like.. not my cup of tea at all (unless they go slice of life/serious on it i suppose). my question is: which jbl in the vein of older/messy queers would you have handed to earthmix instead (if forced lol)?
Which JBL IP should EarthMix have gotten?
Double Mints?
HA! I kill me.
Cherry Magic?
snerk.
Lemme think.
Tumblr media
Fujimi Orchestra
Honestly? They's be fucking BRILLIANT in this one. OMG it suits them so well. But Thailand doesn't really have it in them to do a full orchestra BL so they'd need to move it into an office or something. Not sure if that would work for this IP.
But the personalities and the egos and the battle of wits and talent and ANGST = chef's kiss!
Tumblr media
Candy and Kiss
This is a lot softer, but the setting is fun and Thailand (the land of malls) has yet to do a BL set in a mall.
Just take over Icon Siam... you know you wanna GMMTV.
The product placement opportunities ALONE.
However, you wanted messy?
Jack o'Frost
But it's not my style. Still EarthMix would have a ton of fun with it.
Can I pick a manga?
Tumblr media
The Finder Series (#1 = Target in the Finder) by Ayano Yamane.
Kinky and graphic (so actually it's more Domundi's style than GMMTV but EarthMix could hack it)
Mafia boss with very questionable morals and lots of fetiches picks up a student photographer and for various reasons, a lot of them involving handcuffs and rope, they end up dating.
Honestly, you know what I'd REALLY love?
Tumblr media
A Thai take, with a happy ending, staring EarthMix of Taiwan's brilliant but super flawed Dark Blue and Moonlight.
How's that for a long pull?
On a different note can I PLEASE hand over:
Tumblr media
Silhouette of Your Voice AKA Hidamari ga Kikoeru
better known as:
I Hear the Sunspot
To Gem4?
Tumblr media
Pretty please?
They would be utterly amazing and it would be brilliant and I am gutted that Mix-up was given to them when this BRILLIANT little IP is just LANGUISHING.
Who's with me?

What is the plan of jyp for each member nmixx futur carrer solo please tarot reading?(sullyoon get viral for her vocal live and mad facial expressions)
https://twitter.com/AboutMusicYT/status/1688901625321254912?s=20
Lily: 5 of Swords, 9 of Pentacles, 2 of Wands.
Hmm it seems that they have two options for Lily and are planning out for her. When I asked which options I got: The Hierophant, Death, The Lovers, 3 of Cups, Knight of Cups and Chariot. A) They will have her do something with music so she may get a solo debut earlier or do something with her talents. B) With the Hierophant they may try pushing her more in Korea C) Something with other idols, pehapes a collab with idols under JYP (I'm thinking of Bangchan).
Haewon: Ace of Pentacles, 8 of Cups, 8 of Wands.
Hmm, something online? Something in a foreign country? (I'm thinking of China and Thailand). 8 of Cups can mean walking away from something or travelling (I'm thinking of Lisa being on the Chinese survival show).
Sullyoon: The High Priestess, 4 of Wands, 10 of Swords, Knight of Swords.
Sullyoon, you need to watch out girl. I feel that they might try sabotaging her or giving her something that can affect her image. Someone is jealous of her.
Bae: 6 of Pentacles, 9 of Swords, 5 of Cups
The market for her isn't there even though they will try but just get disappointed in the end :(
Jiwoo: Judgement rev, Ace of Cups, Ace of Wands.
When Jiwoo debuted she recieved tons of hate for her body and such so I feel that she will be realising music off of that. I see lots of potential for music projects.
Kyujin: 5 of Cups, 3 of Pentacles, Queen of Pentacles.
Hmm, I see her having investors and them pushing her a lot. Maybe something music related?

GMMTV 2024 part 2
As I expected, for me part 2 wasn't as satisfactory as part 1, almost everything I wanted I got in part 1 so there wasn't much left to impress me with. The only two series I'm actually very excited to watch are The heart killers and Us. I'm happy all the same, this event is always so fun to watch and there's plenty of series to look forward to.
These are all the series in order, the first one being the one I'm most excited about:
The Heart Killers: talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, etc. Once again GMMTV looked at my brain and decided to make exactly my ideal series. I was so excited watching the trailer the first time I couldn’t even understand what was happening but I saw Dunk finally being allowed to show us his gigantic biceps and I knew this show was made for me.
Us: this looks great, and this was only a mock trailer. I had hoped we get some more veteran actresses but the plot actually looks very cute and they seem to have great chemistry
Thame – Po: Heart That Skips a Beat: an interesting new couple, a compelling plot, it’s a solid win for me
Revamp: The undead story: they had me at vampires, plus Santa, also a must watch
Friendshit Forever: worst title of this lineup award. Mook and New as leads, they have me hooked already. The plot is kinda meh but it deserves a chance
The Ex-Morning: they gave KristSingto the exes to lovers and they kept talking about relinking flames through the entire trailer, and they were siping pink milk! I love GMMTV for this. Not a fan of the trope or the couple to be honest, but despite that the trailer felt compeling, and it will be very interesting to watch how they have grown as actors and how that affects their dynamic. Let’s see how the kissing goes tho
Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist: I love Mark and even though I prefer him with Neo he also has great chemistry with Ohm and I’m excited to see them work as a couple. But why dentists? I don’t think I can think of a more unappealing job for a romance lead. There are at least three series about dentists, WHY?? And the whole plot revolves around him and his job ???
Perfect 10 Liners: this was actually last in my head while I was watching the live but then I read that it’s 30 episodes long, 10 for each couple, not intertwined. So I’ll watch the PerthChimon one only, the plot seems cute at least. I’m not interested in ForceBook or JuniorMark enough to get through another two engineering students series.
Hide and Sis: best title of the lineup award. The trailer felt a bit off but I love a cast full of women so I’ll probably watch it. The plot could be interesting if done right.
Leap Day: I’ll probably watch too, if only for Gun in what looks to be a great role. I feel like both Pond and Dew have grown as actors so let's pray for that.
Scarlet Heart Thailand: I know what the original series is about and it’s not my cup of tea (period series, lots of drama) but the cast is a 9/10 (sorry but what is Win doing there) so if the trailer isn’t too offputting for me I’ll probably watch it.
Dark Dice: Gem and Prim and a bunch of kids I don’t know. Could be something, I’ll decide when the final trailer is out.
Ossan's Love Thailand: I usually love Thailand’s silly humour but not this time. I’m fond of Earth but kinda tired of him and his acting, I can’t help it. I didn’t even smile watching the whole trailer so probably not for me
Break Up Service: happy for Off but I don’t care about this.
