Para empezar, un poco de perspectiva: Billy Batson (Asher Angel) es un chico huérfano que, mientras busca a su madre, encuentra una familia y también a un mago que le da superpoderes. Su nombre de guerra (y el de la película, estrenada en 2019) será Shazam y, casi sin buscarlo, se convertirá en la figura más inocente y poderosa del Universo de DC Comics.

El bueno de Billy cae en la casa de una pareja muy amorosa que tiene a su cuidado a otros cinco chicos: Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer), Mary Bromfield (Grace Fulton), Eugene Choi (Ian Chen), Darla Dudley (Faithe Herman) y Pedro Peña (Jovan Armand).

En una escena de la película, en la que intentan escapar de la persecución del villano Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong), el grupo cae por accidente en un club “de caballeros”, adonde Peña acota “no es lo mío”, frase que podría haber pasado desapercibida de no ser porque la producción del filme ha remarcado que, sí, como muchos pensaron, este personaje se ha revelado como gay. Quizás no sea el primer superhéroe LGBTQ que conoce el cine, pero sí el primero que lo dice abiertamente. 

Su versión adulta es interpretada por el actor D.J. Cotrona.

Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana was well done. I will say Mark Strong always played the typical bad guy role, but he does it so well and a part of me felt sorry for his character. Ethan Pugiotto, who played the younger version of Sivana really made me feel sorry for him because let us think about it you have a kid that was taken to the Rock of Eternity, the Wizard SHAZAM told him he was not worthy to be his champion, and was sent back to his father (played by MUTHA@#%&A JOHN GLOVER, who also played another DC father of another villain in Smallville, Lionel Luthor the father of Lex Luthor); [if you can't tell I'm geeking out]. Zachary Levi as Shazam, man let me tell you something, WB Studios and the DCEU deserve all props for hiring this man because he is Shazam and Billy Batson at the same time. Even though he look like he is in a MUSCLE SUIT, Zachary found a way to play a 15 year old in a grown man body. He is also funny, I mean imagine if this was real life I guess I would do the same if I had the powers of a few gods, I would abuse them at first to test them out but also do some heroic stuff to make a name of myself. Jack Dylan Grazer as Frederick "Freddy" Freeman: Billy's foster brother and best friend, a disabled superhero enthusiast who is the only person that knows that he is Shazam. In the original Fawcett and DC comics continuity, Captain Marvel Jr.'s alter-ego was Freddy Freeman, a disabled newsboy saved by Captain Marvel (Shazam) from the villainous Captain Nazi. To save the dying boy's life, Captain Marvel shares his powers with Freddy. By saying the name "Captain Marvel", Freddy is transformed into Captain Marvel Jr., a blue costumed version of himself possessing powers of superhuman strength, speed, wisdom, and more. Um...oh the Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews played Rosa and Victor Vasquez were great foster parents to all the kids, they were the typical parents that loved and cared for all their children, but will also discipline them if they get out of line. But what they really believed in was no matter what you always will have a family. Now let us talk about the rest of the cast; OMG we gotta chance to see the Shazam Family!!! Sorry SPOILER WARNING, but I gotta talk about them but after I get a chance to talk about the supporting cast. I like Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield was a character that I can relate to because most of us at that age was worried about going to college but also knowing that we will be moving away from our family that we love and cherish. And she was great playing the big sister role. Michelle Broth respectfully played the adult superhero version of her which was awesome. The rest of the cast Faithe Herman who played Darla Dudley was adorable, I wanted to just grab her and give her a big hug. But when she turn into her adult version, it turned to be Meagan Good, WTF!!! I mean “Hello Ms. Good…” (my sexy voice. Ian Chen played Eugene Choi who was the typical obsessed gamer and tech geek. His superhero alter ego was played by Ross Butler that did a Street Fighter to one of the Seven Deadly Sins, which was funny.  Jovan Armand played Pedro Peña, who was pretty much quiet the whole movie, well until he got use to Billy and defended him against Sivana. His alter ego was played by D.J. Now if I want a hyped man and someone who has a great knowledge of being a superhero I would ask for Jack Dylan Grazer, who played Freddy Freeman. The chemistry between him and actors Asher Angel/ Zachary Levi was spot on and I hope they explore it more in the sequel. Freddy character reminded me of that kid you didn't want to hang out with but once you get to know him, he is a pretty cool dude. I also love it when he and Shazam bicker at each other like an old couple. Oh and before I forget...WHAT THE F×=&!!!! Ok so I just got finishing watching the latest DCEU film, SHAZAM!!! And I must say I was not disappointed. I was geeking out just watching this movie, and I must say I cannot see anyone else playing Billy Batson and Shazam, except for Asher Angel and Zachary Levi. They make a great team and it shows that even though Zachary can play a good Shazam, he still can act like a 15 year old kid. Now I will say even though I am excited for this movie, i'm wondering if this movie is based on the DC New 52 storyline Shazam by Geoff Johns. The story feel familiar but the difference is Black Adam is not the main villain and we don't know if Billy's foster brothers and sisters will turn into the Shazam Family. Djimon Hounsou as The Wizard Shazam: An ancient wizard who bestows his powers on Billy Batson so that he can magically transform into an adult superhero. Hounsou previously portrayed Ricou, the King of the Fishermen, in Aquaman and the MCU, Korath, in Captain Marvel. Created in the 1940s by Bill Parker and C. C. Beck for Fawcett Comics, he is an ancient wizard, who gives young Billy Batson the power to transform into the superhero Captain Marvel. Shazam informs Billy that he is an ancient Egyptian wizard who has been using his powers for many centuries to fight the forces of evil, but that he is now old and not long for this world. He therefore passes along part of his power to Billy, who shouts his name – "SHAZAM!" – to transform into Captain Marvel/Shazam. Although Shazam is killed, as prophesied, by a giant granite block falling on him, Billy/Captain Marvel/Shazam can summon the ghost of Shazam for guidance by lighting a special brazier in the Rock of Eternity. Mark Strong will play Dr. Thaddeus Sivana: A successful yet twisted inventor and industrialist as the head of Sivana Industries. He himself had been summoned by the wizard Shazam as a child, but was not chosen as his champion, which lead Sivana to spend the rest of his life trying to unlock the secrets of magic through science. In the comics, Doctor Sivana appeared in well over half of all of the Golden Age, Captain Marvel Fawcett comic stories, and in all of the first four stories, after having deduced Captain Marvel's dual identity as boy radio broadcaster Billy Batson early on. Depicted as a brilliant, if evil, scientist, Sivana used all manner of unusual inventions and techniques against the Marvels. He was at first a good man who wanted to help humanity, but big business, bosses and other conservative concerns blocked and checked him and even called him mad, until, embittered, he turned against humanity and moved to Venus. He somehow held high status among the beings of the planet Venus. He returned to Earth, establishing himself as a villain, and clashed with Capt. Marvel in the latter's first fight. In the New 52, Sivana first appears in Justice League #7, depicted as a respected scientist desperate to save his family from an unknown plight. With science having failed him, he turns to magic (specifically the legend of Black Adam).
