my gender and diversity studies prof is so weird because she seems genuinely incompetent at her job. sometimes she just makes shit up, other times she uses very questionable and partially far-right sources and straight up spreads misinformation.

the first time i was in her class she said that she had gotten a racism allegation last year as a kind of joke about how she sometimes says uncomfortable things? and she made it sound (atleast to me, so i thought that at first) that it was some rightist complaining about "anti-white racism" or whatever and i got kinda excited, but yeah no shes just lowkey racist fr. I see how she got the allegations. (she literally said colored people multiple times. once my friend informed how thats not a good expression to use, she started to be very performative in her word choice)

also im taking this class the second time because her exams are just utter shit. unnecessarily hard, almost like shes insecure about what she teaches and has to make up for it (wink wink)

also also she kinda sees herself as like an oldschool hardcore radfem (though fortunately not the TE kind, afaik), but she keeps telling us that misandry is real. granted, it seems like she just does it to appease the MRA crowd, but i dont know how you can see yourself as a radfem and just say "misandry is real" without going into any kind of elaboration. seems to me like she doesnt really care about us going out of that with a correct understanding of gendered oppression.

so now my friend (who actually couldve been done with their studies if not for this very prof and her stupid exams, and my friend also had to pay like 400€ because of that) is gonna complain to the student representatives. it just feels very funny to be too woke for the wokism-course, which, turns out, wasnt that woke at all

So anon unless 'trans men' pass really well as men, they do experience misogyny cause real world out there its based on, you know, reality, factual material reality.

I’m not sure if this is a great framing of the issue--this approach always seems to base its definition of “misogyny” off of what cis women “experience” (plus framing it in terms of “experience” seems individualistic to me--of course individual experiences, matter but we should be using them to advance our understanding of how patriarchy actually operates). but conceptualising (implied: white) cishet “womanhood” and “manhood” as the baseline of how patriarchy works, rather than as two artificially imposed & complexly mediated categories or concatenations of likely/possible experiences among many, & then considering trans experiences insofar as they converge with or diverge from those experiences... doesn’t seem helpful to me. it’s one of those arguments that just goes around and around without getting anywhere
