The Vibrant Canvas: Exploring Visual Arts in Delhi
Delhi, the capital city of India, is not only renowned for its rich historical and cultural heritage, but it also boasts a thriving and diverse Visual Arts scene. From ancient murals and traditional crafts to contemporary galleries and cutting-edge exhibitions, Delhi provides a fascinating tapestry of visual art forms that captivate both locals and tourists alike. In this article, we will delve into the vibrant world of visual arts in Delhi, exploring its historical roots, modern expressions, and the platforms that contribute to its continual evolution.
Tumblr media
Historical Legacy: Delhi’s visual arts legacy is deeply intertwined with its historical journey. The city’s monumental architecture, spanning from the Qutub Minar to the Red Fort, serves as a testament to the artistic prowess of various dynasties that ruled the region. Intricate Mughal frescoes and exquisite Persian-style miniatures tell stories of an era long gone by, showcasing the melding of cultures that shaped Delhi’s identity. The Humayun’s Tomb complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as an exemplar of Mughal garden design and architectural elegance.
Traditional Crafts and Artistry: Delhi’s cultural landscape is enriched by a myriad of traditional crafts and art forms that have been passed down through generations. The bustling lanes of Old Delhi are home to bustling bazaars where artisans skillfully create mesmerizing textiles, intricate jewelry, and stunning pottery. The art of Zardozi, the elaborate embroidery technique, and Meenakari, the enameling tradition, continue to thrive, connecting the past with the present.
Contemporary Galleries and Exhibitions: As the city has evolved, so too has its visual arts scene. Modern Delhi is a hub for contemporary galleries and exhibition spaces that showcase the cutting-edge works of emerging and established artists. The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) serves as a repository of Indian modern art, featuring a diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and installations that reflect the changing socio-political landscape. Prominent galleries like the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the Devi Art Foundation provide platforms for experimental art forms and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Street Art and Urban Expression: Delhi’s streets have become a canvas for street artists who use public spaces to express their creativity and engage with the public. Graffiti, murals, and installations adorn walls, bridges, and alleyways, transforming mundane surroundings into vibrant visual narratives. The Lodhi Art District, a street art initiative, has breathed new life into the Lodhi Colony area, turning it into an open-air gallery where local and international artists converge to create captivating murals.
Art Festivals and Cultural Events: The city’s cultural calendar is punctuated by numerous art festivals and events that celebrate the visual arts. The India Art Fair, a prestigious annual event, brings together galleries, collectors, and artists from around the world, offering a comprehensive overview of contemporary art trends. The Delhi International Arts Festival showcases a diverse range of art forms, including visual arts, dance, music, and theater, fostering cross-cultural interactions and creative exchange.
Preserving Heritage and Fostering Innovation: While embracing its historical heritage, Delhi also encourages innovation and experimentation in the visual arts. The Sanskriti Kendra, an artist residency program, provides a nurturing environment for artists to engage with traditional crafts and techniques while exploring new directions. Institutes like the College of Art and the Jamia Millia Islamia’s Faculty of Fine Arts play a pivotal role in nurturing young talents and encouraging artistic exploration
Delhi’s visual arts landscape is a dynamic interplay of tradition and modernity, where ancient artistry harmoniously coexists with contemporary expressions. The city’s historical legacy, vibrant traditional crafts, flourishing galleries, street art movement, and cultural events collectively contribute to its thriving visual arts scene. As Delhi continues to evolve, it remains a hub of creative energy, offering a visual feast that reflects the diverse and ever-changing cultural tapestry of the city.

Jens Risom: Introducing the US to Scandinavian Design
“Good design means that anything good will go well with other equally good things.” – Jens Risom
Jens Risom was not only an iconic mid-century modern furniture designer, but he was also responsible for introducing Scandinavian design to the United States. “Risom was often referred to as the first true Knoll designer” (1).  With the current popularity of mid-century furniture design, Risom’s warm, elegant, timeless designs inspire a new generation of furniture designers.
Jens Risom was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on May 8, 1916, the son of prominent Danish architect Sven Risom. Young Jens studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design along with classmates Hans Wegner and Børge Mogensen (2) from 1935 until 1938. (3)

Jens Risom and Hans Knoll
In 1939 Risom traveled to the United States to study design. Unfortunately, Risom found it difficult to find steady work in New York City. (2) In a 2012 interview with Modern Magazine Risom said, “What I found was that [the United States] was advanced in just about all areas—except for taste” (3). Risom was challenged to find anyone in the United States in the pre-war interested in producing the type of furniture he was designing. Risom’s freelance work secured him a position as Director of Interior Design at Dan Cooper, Inc., where he worked until 1940.

After 1940 Risom returned to freelance work in furniture and textile design. “It was during this time that he met Hans Knoll. The pair collaborated on an exhibition for the New York World’s Fair.” (4) Risom finally found someone interested in producing and promoting his furniture designs. Then Knoll took Risom on as his partner and first designer for his new furniture company.
The first Knoll Catalog was published in 1942, “which included 15 pieces designed by Risom — the very first furniture to be commissioned specifically by Knoll” (4). One of the most timeless chairs in the collection was the Model 654W was designed by necessity. “Materials were hard to come by during the war, so Mr. Risom designed a chair with simple wooden legs and for upholstery used nothing other than surplus parachute straps” (1). In addition to Knoll, Risom sold designs to Frederik Lunning Inc., and this collection was introduced in October 1942. (2)

War, Love, and Breakup with Knoll
In 1943 Risom put his career on hold as he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as an interpreter under General George S. Patton. (1, 2) Risom returned to New York after the war. “…Mr. Knoll was involved romantically and professionally with a furniture designer named Florence Schust, who held a view of modern design that was in direct opposition to Mr. Risom’s”(1). Florence Schust eventually married Hans Knoll and became his business partner (4) leading Risom to split professionally with Knoll in 1946. (1)

Jens Risom Design Opens
Soon after his departure from Knoll, Risom established his own firm, Jens Risom Design which opened on May 1, 1946 (1); Risom ran the business until it was sold in the 1970s. (4) During the 1950s, Risom’s reputation grew as he promoted Danish design to a wider commercial and residential market. He hired fashion photographer Richard Avedon to photograph Risom’s furniture for sophisticated advertisements. The ads consisted of a photo of an item of furniture “against a white background with the simple tagline ‘The Answer is Risom’” (5).

Later in the decade, Risom began moving the firm away from residential work and into the “office furniture, hospital furniture, and library furniture” (2) markets. During the 1960s, Risom’s firm had showrooms in all major markets in the United States. (5) In 1961 Risom's work "was included in the legendary...Playboy Magazine article 'Designs for Living,' " (6) with mid-century design superstars "Charles Eames, Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, Edward Wormley, and George Nelson" (6). President Lyndon Johnson selected a Risom executive chair for his use in the Oval Office. (2)
Renewed Interest in Risom’s Designs
After the sale of his design firm, Risom continued to design and work as a consultant throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The 1990s saw a resurgence in interest in Risom’s iconic designs, the popularity of his furniture continues today. In 1994 Knoll introduced a selection of Risom’s early 1940s designs. In 2005 Risom partnered with New York art and furniture dealer Ralph Pucci to market his work. Pucci’s firm still sells Risom’s work today. (7)

Risom’s Legacy
“The Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum all have Risom selections in their permanent collections” (1). In 1996 Risom was knighted by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. (5) Risom was also a trustee of the Rhode Island School of Design. (2, 5) Risom outlived his contemporaries; he died at his home in New Canaan, Connecticut on December 9, 2016, at the age of 100. (1)

Collage Research - Hannah Höch
Tumblr media
Personal Life -
Hannah Höch, (born November 1, 1889—died May 31, 1978), was a German artist, the only woman associated with the Berlin Dada group, known for her provocative collage that explores Weimar-era perceptions of gender and ethnic differences.
Höch began her training in 1912 at the School of Applied Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg, where she studied glass design with Harold Bengen until her work was interrupted by World War I. She went back to Berlin in 1915 and re enrolled at the School of Applied Arts, where she studied painting and graphic design until 1920. In 1915 she met and became romantically involved with Austrian artist Raoul Hausmann, who in 1918 introduced her to the Berlin Dada circle, a group of artists that included George Grosz, Wieland Herzfelde, and Wieland’s older brother, John Heartfield. Höch began to experiment with nonobjective art through collage and photomontage consisting of fragments of imagery found in newspapers and magazines. From 1916 to 1926, to support herself and pay for her schooling, Höch worked part-time at Ullstein Verlag, a Berlin magazine-publishing house for which she wrote articles on and designed patterns for “women’s” handicrafts—mainly knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. That position gave her access to an abundant supply of images and text that she could use in her work.
In 1920 the group held the First International Dada Fair, Höch was allowed to participate only after Hausmann threatened to withdraw his own work from the exhibition if she was kept out. Höch’s large-scale photomontage Cut with the Kitchen Knife Through the Last Weimar Beer-Belly Cultural Epoch in Germany (1919)—a forceful commentary, particularly on the gender issues erupting in postwar Weimar Germany—was one of the most prominently displayed and well-received works of the show. Despite her critical success, as the group’s only woman, Höch was typically patronized by and kept at the margins of the Berlin group. Consequently, she began to move away from Grosz and Heartfield and the others, including Hausmann, with whom she broke off her relationship in 1922. The Dada group dissolved in 1922, one of Höch’s final Dada works was My House-Sayings (1922).
It was Höch’s concern with and criticism of constructed gender roles that distinguished her work from that of her contemporaries in the Dada period. Höch had become interested in representing—and embodying—the “New Woman,” who wore her hair short, earned her own living, could make her own choices, and was generally ridding herself of the shackles of society’s traditional female roles.
From 1926 to 1929 Höch lived in The Hague with female Dutch author Til Brugman, who supported and encouraged her art. Their romantic relationship, scandalous for the time, compelled her further examination of traditional gender roles, cultural conventions, and the construction of identity.
After World War II, Höch worked hard to remain relevant and exhibit her work, coming out of hiding and participating in exhibitions already in 1945 and 1946. Until the end of her life, Höch worked with new modes of expression but regularly made reference to her past as well. She returned to influences and art-making practices from her early career, such as textile and pattern design, which she had learned with Orlik and from her job at Ullstein Verlag.
Tumblr media
Over the water - 1943~1946
Practices -
Höch and the Dadaists were the first to embrace and develop the photograph as the dominant medium of the montage. Höch and Hausmann cut, overlapped photographic fragments in disorienting but meaningful ways to reflect the confusion and chaos of the postwar era. The Dadaists rejected the modern moral order, the violence of war, and the political constructs that had brought about the war. Their goal was to subvert all conventional modes of art making such as painting and sculpture. Their use of photomontage, which relied on mass-produced materials and required no academic art training, was a deliberate repudiation of the prevailing German Expressionist aesthetic and was intended as a type of anti-art. Ironically, the movement was quickly and enthusiastically absorbed into the art world and found appreciation among connoisseurs of fine art in the 1920s.
Between 1924 and 1930 she created From an Ethnographic Museum, a series of 18 to 20 composite figures that challenged both socially constructed gender roles and racial stereotypes. The provocative collages juxtapose representations of contemporary European women with “primitive” sculptures portrayed in a museum context. Höch was also particularly interested in the representation of women as dolls, mannequins, and puppets and as products for mass consumption. During her Dada period she had constructed and exhibited stuffed dolls that had exaggerated and abstract features but were clearly identifiable as female. In the late 1920s she used advertisement images of popular children’s dolls in several somewhat disturbing photomontages, including The Master (1925) and Love (c. 1926).
Her experience with textile design can be seen in Red Textile Page (1952; Rotes Textilblatt) and Around a Red Mouth (1967; Um einen roten Mund). Both of the aforementioned collages show Höch’s increasing use of colour images, which had become more readily available in print publications. In addition to exhibiting the wider use of colour, with the return of artistic freedom after the war, her work became more abstract, as in Poetry Around a Chimney (1956; Poesie um einen Schornstein). She achieved that abstraction by rotating or inverting her cut fragments so that they were readable no longer as images from the real world but instead as shapes and colour, open to many interpretations. In the 1960s she also reintroduced figural elements into her photomontages. In the colour assemblage Grotesque (1963), for example, two pairs of women’s legs are posed on a cobblestone street; one pair supports a woman’s fragmented facial features, the other a man’s bespectacled eyes and wrinkled forehead.
Why - Because Höch’s prolific career lasted six decades, her legacy can be attributed only partly to her participation in the short-lived Dada movement. Her desire to use art as a means to disrupt and unsettle the norms and categories of society remained a constant throughout. It is fitting that she used collage to construct a retrospective work: in Life Portrait (1972–73; Lebensbild), she assembled her own past, using photos of herself juxtaposed with images of past collages that she had cut from exhibition catalogues. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, her work began to receive renewed attention, thanks to a concerted effort by feminist scholars and artists to uncover, reevaluate, and reclaim the art created by Höch and other women during the early 20th century

How Udyam Registration is Helping Artisanal and Craft-Based Businesses Thrive
India’s rich cultural heritage is reflected in its vast array of artisanal and craft-based businesses. These small-scale industries, which include everything from handwoven textiles and intricate jewelry to pottery and traditional handicrafts, not only preserve the country’s cultural legacy but also provide livelihoods to millions of artisans, particularly in rural areas. However, these businesses often face challenges such as limited market access, financial constraints, and lack of formal recognition. Udyam registration, introduced by the Indian government in July 2020, has emerged as a critical tool in addressing these challenges, helping artisanal and craft-based businesses to thrive in a competitive market.
The Challenges Faced by Artisanal and Craft-Based Businesses
Artisanal and craft-based businesses in India are predominantly small-scale, often operating in the informal sector. While they are rich in tradition and craftsmanship, these businesses face several hurdles:
Limited Market Access: Many artisans lack the resources and networks to reach wider markets, confining their sales to local or regional levels.
Financial Constraints: Access to credit is a significant barrier, as many artisanal businesses do not have formal documentation or collateral required by traditional lenders.
Lack of Formal Recognition: Operating informally, many artisanal businesses are unable to take advantage of government schemes and subsidies that could support their growth.
Competition from Mass-Produced Goods: Artisanal products often face stiff competition from cheaper, mass-produced alternatives, making it difficult to sustain traditional practices.
Technological Lag: Many artisans are not equipped with the latest technology or digital tools, limiting their ability to innovate or scale their operations.
Udyam Registration: A Gateway to Formalization
Udyam registration is a simplified online process that provides MSMEs, including artisanal and craft-based businesses, with a formal identity. This registration is crucial for several reasons:
Access to Government Schemes: Udyam registration allows businesses to access a range of government schemes, including financial incentives, subsidies, and support programs designed specifically for MSMEs.
Improved Market Access: With formal recognition, artisanal businesses can more easily participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, and government procurement processes, thereby expanding their market reach.
Financial Inclusion: Udyam registration makes it easier for artisanal businesses to access credit from banks and financial institutions, as it provides them with the necessary documentation and credibility.
Legal Benefits: Registered businesses are protected under various laws and regulations, which can help them resolve disputes and protect their intellectual property.
Networking Opportunities: Udyam-registered businesses can connect with industry bodies, trade associations, and other enterprises, creating opportunities for collaboration and growth.
How Udyam Registration is Empowering Artisanal and Craft-Based Businesses
Formal Recognition and Enhanced Credibility
Udyam registration provides artisanal and craft-based businesses with an official identity, which is crucial for establishing trust and credibility. This formal recognition opens up new avenues for these businesses, allowing them to access government schemes, participate in tenders, and engage with larger enterprises. For instance, the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform, which is accessible to Udyam-registered businesses, provides a vast market for artisans to sell their products directly to government buyers.
Impact: Formal recognition enhances the visibility and credibility of artisanal businesses, enabling them to compete more effectively in both domestic and international markets.
Access to Financial Support and Credit
One of the most significant benefits of Udyam registration is the improved access to financial resources. Artisanal businesses often struggle to secure loans due to a lack of formal documentation and collateral. However, with Udyam registration, these businesses become eligible for various credit schemes and subsidies.
Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE): This scheme provides collateral-free credit to MSMEs, reducing the financial barriers for artisans seeking to expand their operations.
MUDRA Loans: Udyam-registered artisans can also benefit from MUDRA loans, which provide financial support for micro-enterprises without the need for significant collateral.
Impact: Access to affordable credit allows artisanal businesses to invest in better tools, materials, and marketing, ultimately leading to increased productivity and sales.
Market Expansion and Increased Sales Opportunities
Market access has always been a challenge for artisanal and craft-based businesses, many of which rely on local markets and word-of-mouth for sales. Udyam registration helps these businesses tap into larger markets by providing them with the tools and platforms needed to reach a broader audience.
Participation in Trade Fairs and Exhibitions: Udyam-registered businesses can participate in national and international trade fairs, showcasing their products to a wider audience and establishing new business connections.
E-commerce Integration: With formal registration, artisans can more easily integrate their businesses into e-commerce platforms, allowing them to sell their products online and reach customers beyond their immediate geographic area.
Impact: Expanded market access increases the sales potential of artisanal businesses, enabling them to reach new customers and generate higher revenues.
Skill Development and Technological Adoption
The government offers various skill development programs for Udyam-registered businesses, which are particularly beneficial for artisans looking to modernize their operations. These programs include training in digital marketing, e-commerce, and new production techniques, helping artisans stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
Impact: Skill development and technology adoption enable artisanal businesses to innovate, improve product quality, and enhance operational efficiency, leading to sustainable growth.
Preservation of Traditional Crafts
By providing financial support, market access, and skill development opportunities, Udyam registration plays a crucial role in preserving traditional crafts that are at risk of disappearing. It helps artisans continue practicing and passing down their craft to future generations, ensuring that India’s cultural heritage remains vibrant.
Impact: The preservation of traditional crafts not only sustains the livelihoods of artisans but also contributes to the cultural richness and diversity of the nation.
Conclusion
Udyam registration has become a vital tool for empowering artisanal and craft-based businesses in India. By providing formal recognition, financial support, market access, and opportunities for skill development, it helps artisans overcome many of the challenges they face and enables them to thrive in a competitive marketplace. As more artisanal businesses embrace Udyam registration, they will not only contribute to the economy but also play a crucial role in preserving India’s rich cultural heritage for future generations.

Kimsooja (Korean: 김수자; born 1957) was born in Daegu, South Korea. Kimsooja is a multi-disciplinary conceptual artist who travels between her three homes and places of work in New York City, Paris, and Seoul. In 1980 Kim graduated with a B.F.A in Painting from Hong-Ik University, Seoul and continued to pursue her M.F.A there, obtaining the degree in 1984 at the age of 27. Her origin as a painter was a crucial starting point for the development of her art. That same year, she received a scholarship to study art at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France, where she studied Printmaking. Her first solo exhibition was held in 1988 at Gallery Hyundai, Seoul. Currently, her work is featured in countless international museums and galleries as well as public art fairs and other spaces. Her practice combines performance, film, photo, and site-specific installation using textile, light, and sound. Kimsooja's work investigates questions concerning the conditions of humanity, while engaging issues of aesthetics, culture, politics, and the environment. Her principle of ‘non-doing’ and ‘non-making,’ which follows a conceptual and structural investigation of performance through modes of mobility and immobility, inverts the notion of the artist as the predominant actor. via Wikipedia Photography SUN HYE SHIN

Yarn Expo autumn 2024 to sate industry’s sustainability demands in august
Tumblr media
Shanghai, 20 June 2024. With eco-friendly products in the spotlight, this year’s spring show signaled a positive outlook for the global yarn and fiber market. Set to continue the momentum, Yarn Expo Autumn 2024 will open doors from 27 – 29 August at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), where exhibitors will showcase a wide spectrum of in-demand, innovative, and sustainable yarns and fibers. Held concurrently with the 30th edition of Intertextile Apparel, as well as CHIC and PH Value, the fair will see the entire value chain come together for active business and insight exchange, encouraging industry growth and connection.
Driven by a raft of societal development factors, such as the introduction of new fabrics and significant Asia-Pacific population growth, the global textile yarn market is projected to reach USD 17.87 billion by 2031[1]. Expressing her confidence in the market and Yarn Expo, Ms. Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, commented: “As daily essentials, yarns, and fibers are always needed – especially those reflecting sustainability efforts due to rising public awareness. With high visitor flow and positive feedback at recent editions, Asia’s leading yarn and fiber trade platform remains a hotspot for innovation and sustainability amongst global buyers, and we are eager for our exhibitors to benefit again this autumn.”
A well-known platform for sustainable upstream sourcing, the fair will align with the Texpertise Econogy initiative (the umbrella for Messe Frankfurt’s sustainability activities at its more than 50 textile trade shows worldwide). Set to focus strongly on eco-friendliness in response to market needs, the upcoming autumn show’s green initiatives will span the high-traffic Trend Forum, as well as multiple seminars and product showcases.
Exhibitors from a number of countries and regions have already confirmed their participation, including China, France, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Singapore, Türkiye, Vietnam, and more. Once again, business matching meetings will be organized to pair suppliers with relevant buyers.
Pleased with his sourcing options at last year’s autumn show, Mr Mani Kant, Director of Bishnu Texport Pvt. Ltd, India, commented: “I see more potential suppliers and many visitors. Sustainable and biodegradable products are my main concern this year because most of our clients are looking for these kinds of products, to supply to European and US apparel brands. Recycling yarns and fibers are especially plentiful here. I have visited many exhibitions, but I think Yarn Expo is one of the best platforms to source yarns, learn about new trends, and meet many suppliers in one place, which is a big time and money saver.”
Eclipsing the success of Yarn Expo Autumn 2023, the 2024 spring fair welcomed nearly 22,000 buyers from 107 countries and regions. At both editions, regenerated and cotton products were two of the most sought-after categories at the fairground, and are expected to be high on buyers’ lists this autumn.
Yarn Expo Autumn will be held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, CHIC, and PH Value. The four fairs will bring the fiber and yarn, apparel fabrics and accessories, fashion, and knitted garments industries together under one roof, with the resultant synergy allowing exhibitors and buyers to maximize their business opportunities.
Yarn Expo Autumn is organized by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT. For more details, please visit www.yarn-expo-autumn.com.
Yarn Expo Autumn will be held from 27 – 29 August 2024.

The charm and versatility of tents in modern decoration.
Tumblr media
The outdoor space decoration has taken a new turn with the innovative use of tents. These structures, traditionally associated with outdoor events, are now redefining gardens, terraces, and other open spaces. Their versatility and functionality have made them key elements in creating cozy and aesthetically appealing environments.
Folding Tents: Elegance and practicality in every fold
Folding tents have become a popular option for those looking to combine elegance and practicality. Their easy assembly and disassembly make them ideal for temporary events or for those who want to frequently change the layout of their spaces. Additionally, they are a perfect solution for outdoor events such as weddings, fairs, and exhibitions, where resistance to various weather conditions is essential. These tents, available in various designs and colors, can adapt to any decorating style, from the most classic to the most contemporary. They offer the versatility of being personalized with specific logos or messages, making them ideal for corporate or promotional events. The durability of their materials ensures a long-term investment, benefiting both rental companies and individual owners.
An intimate and versatile space
The 3×3 tent is a perfect solution for creating an intimate corner in gardens or patios. Its compact size makes it ideal for small gatherings, outdoor reading nooks, or even as a play space for children. These tents, being of a manageable size, allow for detailed and personalized decoration, making them a standout element in any event or garden setup. Furthermore, its sturdy and easy-to-assemble structure allows them to be used for both temporary events and more permanent installations. They are especially popular at events such as crafts markets or local fairs, where they provide an attractive and protected space for exhibitors. The 3×3 tent can also be equipped with accessories such as curtains, lights, and plants to create a cozy and unique environment, perfectly adapting to the aesthetic and functional needs of the user.
Durability and style for large events
For larger-scale events, professional tents offer the necessary resistance and space. Designed to withstand various weather conditions, these tents are ideal for weddings, trade fairs, or large family gatherings. Their sturdy structure allows for heavier decorative elements, such as hanging lamps or large floral arrangements, transforming the space into a dreamy environment.
Portable Tents: The convenience of bringing style anywhere
The portable tent represents the fusion of mobility and style. These tents are perfect for those who enjoy adventure but do not want to give up a cozy and well-decorated space. Whether for a beach picnic, a day in the park, or a traveling event, these tents offer the comfort of a customizable and transportable space.
Decoration and functionality: Uniting concepts
Tents not only serve as shelter from the sun or rain but have also become central pieces of decoration. With the incorporation of textiles, lighting, and furniture, these structures transform into cozy spaces that invite relaxation and enjoyment. This trend has led to the use of tents in a variety of events, from family celebrations to large corporate events, where a unique and memorable atmosphere is sought. The flexibility in design allows tents to adapt to specific themes or decorative styles, from rustic and natural to modern and minimalist. Additionally, the growing demand for sustainable solutions has driven innovation in materials and ecological practices in the tent industry.
Adaptability for themed events
The flexibility in tent decoration allows them to be adapted to different themes. From a bohemian tent for a wedding to a minimalist space for a corporate event, the possibilities are endless. This adaptability makes them ideal for all types of celebrations and gatherings. For example, for children’s events, they can be transformed into fairy tale castles or adventurous jungles, while for business meetings, they can be set up with an elegant and professional design. Additionally, the integration of technologies such as LED lighting and sound systems can enhance the experience, making tents not only decorative but also functional. With the advancement of materials, tents can now be equipped with climate control, making them suitable for any time of the year.
Tents, key elements in modern decoration
Tents have established themselves as key elements in modern decoration. Their ability to transform spaces, adaptability to different styles, and functionality make them indispensable in any outdoor design plan. Whether for large or small, temporary or recurring events, tents offer practical and stylistic solutions, setting a trend in contemporary decoration.

The urban textile waste supply chain arrives at Ecomondo
Tumblr media
The event for the ecological transition is scheduled for 7 to 10 November in Rimini. At the Unirau-Ariu exhibition space, guided tours to discover how this important fraction of urban waste collection is collected, selected and valorised.
Not long left for Ecomondo, the event for the ecological transition scheduled from 7 to 10 November at the Rimini fair.[1] Unirau (the Association of companies and cooperatives that carry out the collection, selection and valorisation of the textile fraction of urban waste) and Ariu (the Association of used clothing recoverers) [2] will participate in the event and will animate an exhibition and demonstration space entirely dedicated to urban textile waste management activities.
The aim of the initiative, which will represent in a small way the different phases of collection and treatment of the textile products placed in street containers every day by citizens, is to make institutions, stakeholders, media and public opinion aware of a national industrial chain that operates successfully in collection, selection, preparation for reuse and recycling of used clothing and urban textile waste (in 2021, over 154 thousand tonnes were collected and treated by the entire sector).
At stand 113-308 in pavilion B3, it will be possible to take part in guided tours to closely observe and understand how this important fraction of urban waste collection is collected, selected and valorised, mandatory in Italy from 1 January 2022 and awaiting the next introduction of the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) regime.[3] The process starts from the separate waste collection container where the textile waste is delivered, and then moves on to the parts of the waste treatment and valorisation plant, up to the products ready for reuse and the materials intended for recycling obtained from the selection of the separate waste collection.
“Gift or refusal? Legality or illegality? Reuse or recycle? – underlined Andrea Fluttero, president of Unirau – These are some of the questions that emerge when talking about urban textile waste. During Ecomondo, through our exhibition space and participation in in-depth moments on the sector, we intend to shed light on the present and future of this supply chain, destined in the coming years to collect and manage in an industrial, efficient and traceable way a growing flow of waste which would otherwise generate economic and environmental costs for our country".
“We are a consolidated industrial supply chain integrated with the collection – concludes Joseph Valletti, president of Ariu – we know how to select and valorise the collections well and we are available to future consortia of producers to guarantee effectiveness and efficiency by identifying together the links on which it will be appropriate to direct the resources coming from the extended producer responsibility regime".

Financial Incentives for Udyam-Registered Businesses: Grants, Loans, and Subsidies
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of India’s economy, contributing significantly to employment, GDP, and exports. Recognizing their importance, the Indian government has implemented various financial incentives to support the growth and development of these enterprises. Udyam registration, introduced on July 1, 2020, provides a streamlined process for MSMEs to formalize their operations and access a wide range of financial incentives, including grants, loans, and subsidies. This article explores the key financial incentives available to Udyam-registered businesses and how they contribute to the overall growth of the MSME sector.
Understanding Udyam Registration
Udyam registration is a simplified, online registration process for MSMEs that replaced the earlier Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) system. It is designed to provide a formal identity to businesses, making them eligible for various government schemes and financial incentives. The registration process is entirely digital, requiring minimal documentation, and is accessible to businesses across India, including those in remote and rural areas.
Importance of Financial Incentives for MSMEs
Financial incentives play a crucial role in supporting MSMEs by providing them with the necessary capital and resources to grow and expand their operations. These incentives are particularly important for small businesses, which often face challenges in accessing traditional sources of finance due to their size, limited collateral, and higher perceived risk. By offering grants, loans, and subsidies, the government aims to address these challenges and create a conducive environment for MSMEs to thrive.
Key Financial Incentives for Udyam-Registered Businesses
Grants and Subsidies
Grants and subsidies are non-repayable financial aids provided by the government to support specific activities or initiatives within the MSME sector. Udyam-registered businesses can access a variety of grants and subsidies aimed at promoting innovation, technology adoption, and capacity building.
Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS): This scheme provides a subsidy of up to 15% on the purchase of plant and machinery for MSMEs. The objective is to encourage the adoption of modern technology and improve productivity. Udyam-registered businesses can avail themselves of this subsidy to upgrade their equipment and remain competitive in the market.
Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS): The TUFS scheme offers financial assistance to MSMEs in the textile and garment sectors for modernizing their production facilities. This includes subsidies on capital investment and interest reimbursement on loans taken for technology upgradation.
Marketing Assistance Scheme: This scheme provides financial support to MSMEs for participating in trade fairs, exhibitions, and buyer-seller meets, both domestically and internationally. The aim is to enhance the market visibility of MSME products and services.
National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP): Under this program, Udyam-registered businesses can access various subsidies for initiatives like lean manufacturing, quality certification, and design interventions. The goal is to improve the competitiveness of MSMEs and promote sustainable growth.
Loans and Credit Schemes
Access to affordable credit is essential for the growth and expansion of MSMEs. The government offers several loan schemes to Udyam-registered businesses, ensuring they have the financial resources needed to invest in their operations, manage cash flow, and take advantage of new opportunities.
Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP): PMEGP is a credit-linked subsidy scheme that provides financial assistance for setting up new enterprises in the non-farm sector. Udyam-registered businesses can access loans with a subsidy component to cover the cost of capital investment, making it easier to start or expand their operations.
Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE): This scheme provides collateral-free credit to MSMEs, reducing the risk for lenders and making it easier for businesses to obtain loans. Udyam-registered enterprises can avail of loans up to ₹2 crore under this scheme, with the government guaranteeing up to 85% of the loan amount.
MUDRA Loans: The Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) provides loans of up to ₹10 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises. Udyam-registered businesses can access these loans under three categories—Shishu (up to ₹50,000), Kishor (₹50,001 to ₹5 lakh), and Tarun (₹5,00,001 to ₹10 lakh)—depending on their stage of growth.
Stand-Up India Scheme: This scheme is designed to promote entrepreneurship among women, SC, and ST communities. It provides bank loans ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹1 crore for setting up greenfield enterprises in manufacturing, services, or trading sectors. Udyam-registered businesses owned by these groups can access this scheme to obtain the necessary capital for starting new ventures.
Interest Subsidies and Tax Benefits
To further reduce the cost of finance for MSMEs, the government offers interest subsidies and tax benefits to Udyam-registered businesses. These incentives help lower the overall financial burden on enterprises, allowing them to reinvest savings into growth and expansion.
Interest Subsidy Scheme for Incremental Credit to MSMEs: This scheme provides a 2% interest subvention on incremental loans extended to MSMEs. Udyam-registered businesses can benefit from reduced interest rates on their borrowings, improving their cash flow and profitability.
Income Tax Benefits: Udyam-registered businesses may be eligible for various income tax exemptions and deductions under the Income Tax Act. For instance, profits derived from certain activities, such as setting up an industrial undertaking in backward areas, may qualify for tax exemptions. Additionally, deductions are available for expenses related to R&D, employment generation, and infrastructure development.
Special Schemes for Women Entrepreneurs
Recognizing the need to empower women in the MSME sector, the government offers specific schemes aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs. Udyam registration enables women-owned businesses to access these special schemes, fostering greater gender diversity in entrepreneurship.
Mahila Udyam Nidhi Scheme: This scheme provides financial assistance to women entrepreneurs for setting up new projects or expanding existing ones. The loans under this scheme are offered at concessional interest rates, making it easier for women to access capital.
Trade-Related Entrepreneurship Assistance and Development (TREAD): TREAD offers grants to NGOs that provide training and capacity building for women entrepreneurs. Udyam-registered women-owned businesses can benefit from the training programs and financial support available under this scheme.
Conclusion
Udyam registration opens the door for MSMEs to access a wide range of financial incentives, including grants, loans, and subsidies. These incentives play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of small businesses, particularly those in rural and underserved areas. By formalizing their operations and taking advantage of the financial support available, Udyam-registered businesses can overcome the challenges they face, innovate, and expand their operations. The government’s continued focus on providing targeted financial incentives for MSMEs is essential for driving economic growth, job creation, and inclusive development across India.
