Formed in 1991 by then Disrupt guitarist Terry Savastano, Grief's style of "extreme doom" was seminal to all things slow, doom, and sludge to follow. For more than a decade, Grief would release several EP's, splits, full lengths and compilations before calling it quits. Fast forward to January 2016, Terry's new version of Grief (including former Grief drummer Chuck Conlon) played their first show as "Come to Grief". Since then, Come to Grief have toured all over the United States, Canada, and Europe, as well as released 'The Worst of Times' EP, a split release with Fistula, and the 'Pray for the End' EP. 'When the World Dies', Come to Grief's new full length LP was recorded in July 2021 at GodCity Studio in Salem, MA, by Kurt Ballou (Converge). #cometogrief #whentheworlddies #translationlossrecords #metal #doom #sludge #sludgemetal #metalmusic #disrupt #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylmusic #vinylmeplease #vinylporn #vinylpossessed #instavinyl #vinyljunkie #vinyleveryday #grindpromotionrecords https://www.instagram.com/p/CnESz6yoG0z/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

COME TO GRIEF (ex-Grief) Release Back Catalog For Free via Bandcamp; Announce East Coast Tour Dates
New England-based sludge supergroup COME TO GRIEF, featuring current and former members of Grief, Disrupt and Warhorse, have made their back catalog available for free via Bandcamp. DOWNLOAD THE COME TO GRIEF DISCOGRAPHY AT THIS LOCATION In addition, the legendary sludge offshoot has announced its first run of East Coast dates in over a year, beginning Nov. 26 in Brooklyn, NY, with Sunrot, False Gods, etc. before wrapping up Dec. 13 in Portland, ME, with Chepang, Yautja and others. Formed in 1991 by Disrupt guitarist Terry Savastano, GRIEF's style of “extreme doom” was seminal to all things slow, doom, and sludge to follow. For more than a decade, GRIEF would release several albums, EPs, splits and compilations before calling it quits in 2001, despite a couple of reunion attempts. Fast-forward to 2014, Terry’s new version of the pioneering sludge band (including former drummer Chuck Conlon) reactivated before playing their first show as COME TO GRIEF two years later. Since then, the band has toured all over the globe with bands like Eyehategod and The Obsessed, including multiple festival appearances at Roadburn, Maryland Deathfest and Austin Terror Fest, among others. COME TO GRIEF resumed its brand of disgruntled, slow-crawling malevolence with the band's first EP, The Worst of Times, in 2017 and the quickly-followed split with Fistula, Take Me In My Sleep / Contusion. The band' second EP, Pray for the End, was released in 2020 just in time for the pandemic to bring things to a halt. Furthermore, the band recently finished recording its debut album When the World Dies at GodCity Studio with producer and tone wizard Kurt Ballou (High On Fire, Gatecreeper). More info to be unveiled at a later time.

"HOW IS GRIEF DIFFERENT THAN DISRUPT?"
PIC INFO: Spotlight on Guitarist Terry Savastano, former member of crust punk/'90s hardcore band DISRUPT, Boston sludge/DOOM metal band GRIEF, and current guitarist for COME TO GRIEF.
CIRCLES OF CHAOS (blog): "When and how did GRIEF come about?"
TERRY SAVASTANO: "Three of the members were in DISRUPT, and we played in that band for a number of years but wanted to do something else. We did both bands for a while then DISRUPT broke up and we're just doing GRIEF now. It's been that way ever since about '90 or '91. I'd say five years and going strong."
CoC: "How is GRIEF different from DISRUPT?"
TS: "It's a different form of music; Disrupt was just charging full of hardcore and politics and GRIEF is really slow, monotonous dirge. I try not to use the word metal, but I guess we are a metal band."
CoC: "Face it, you're a metal band."
TS: "Yeah, you'd have to say that."

"...WE WROTE THESE SONGS TO EXPRESS WHAT OTHER PEOPLE MIGHT FEEL THAT ARE IN THOSE SITUATIONS."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a Decibel Magazine "Making of" featuring the seminal "Come to Grief," sophomore studio effort by Boston sludge/DOOM metal band GRIEF.
DECIBEL: "There’s so much agony and depression on the album. What was going on in your lives to make you so miserable?"
HAYWARD: "[laughs] I mean, honestly, at the time, I wasn’t all that miserable of a person. I was young; 22 years old, I was the youngest of the crew. I was never a depressed or really miserable person. You know, when you’re young, you’re kinda angry about shit. But I dunno, I loved SAINT VITUS, I always thought that was our biggest influence, that slow, kinda caveman approach to writing slow songs. We just took it and added an angry edge to it. Maybe part of it comes from playing in DISRUPT prior to that, which was all about aggression and it was just brutal, so we just took that mentally and slowed it way, way down. But depression and misery, that was never really me. I’m a pretty happy-go-lucky guy in general."

COME TO GRIEF Release New EP “Pray for the End” + Announce New Bassist
New England-based sludge legends COME TO GRIEF are pleased to announce the release of their second EP Pray for the End, out now via Grievance Records, as well as the addition of bassist Randy Larsen (ex-Cable, ex-Isis). Fast-forward to 2014, Terry’s new version of the band (including former drummer Chuck Conlon) reactivated before playing their first show as COME TO GRIEF two years later. Now, the band is proud to present its ugliest output yet, Pray for the End. Recorded by Eric Sauter (Fistula, Boghaunter), the three-track EP speaks further for the downtrodden and those likely to succumb to the miserable existence known as life.
