Hey George, in fact, most people do not think about the world like that. You're just a queer poly boy who sees the world like that.
“I think everybody was in love with everybody else permanently during the 60s. I would have been surprised if any of our friends had not all been in love with each other. You know, there’s sex and there’s love. And I think the 60s period – there was a genuine love for mankind, generally. I’m very liberal, actually – very liberal person. But at that time anyway, over the years, we were splitting up. And contrary to what some people think, I was very pleased that they got together because for me, you know, I didn’t ever want it to be, you know, the bad guy who split it up, like kicked her out or whatever the situation was happening. But really, for years we’d been – potential divorces for, you know, long before all that “Layla” and all that stuff happened. And I think it was just a natural thing that happened.”
— - George Harrison on splitting up with Pattie Boyd and her relationship with Eric Clapton, “I Was There: Pattie Boyd,” BBC Radio 2 [original date of quote unknown] (26 Sep. 2019)

Molly Lewis - On the Lips - don't know if I'm ready for a full-on lounge/exotica (re)revival, but it's the perfect milieu for a whistler
Consider this your invitation to Café Molly, a lounge bar like they don’t make them anymore. The lights are low, the martinis are ice cold, the banquettes are velvet, and the stage is set for the electrifying talent of whistler Molly Lewis. Molly’s soft-focus cocktail music conjures up visions of classic Hollywood jazz clubs, Italian cinema soundtracks and lingering embraces between lovers. After the exotica stylings of The Forgotten Edge EP and the tropicalia-indebted Mirage EP, Molly wanted to encapsulate the sound of Café Molly for her debut album On The Lips, a dreamy tribute to classic mood music. That spellbinding sound, which usually comes to life in Los Angeles, has also popped up in Mexico City dancehalls, graced the runways of Paris and London Fashion Weeks, and made a magical appearance at a children's fairyland. Molly Lewis’s love for this smoky corner of the world doesn’t end with her songwriting. She is a devotee and an archivist, capturing and enlivening the pieces that endure. She was a regular at the legendary shows by Marty and Elayne, the lounge duo who spent almost 40 years playing LA’s Dresden bar. The duo came to global fame after an appearance in 1996’s Swingers and kept going long after that spotlight faded, finally finishing their nightly residency after the death of Marty at the ripe age of 89 last year. “That felt like the end of an era,” says Molly. But there are still flashes of that world to be found, and she finds them. “I’ve been spending a lot of time in New York lately, where there are a lot more of those moody, classic jazz bars,” she explains. Over the past few years Molly has flexed her one-of-a-kind musical skill alongside Mark Ronson on the Barbie soundtrack, as well as with Dr Dre, Karen O, actor John C Reilly, Mac De Marco, fashion houses Chanel, Gucci and Hermes, and folk rock royalty Jackson Browne. After a performance with longtime friend Weyes Blood on Burt Bacharach’s The Look of Love during a Café Molly evening at LA’s Zebulon, Molly supported the singer on a US tour, introducing her sound to a brand new audience. “I forget sometimes that what I do has that factor of surprise and uniqueness – it is something that most people have never seen before,” says Molly. She too might never have entered the idiosyncratic world of whistling had she not as a teenager seen the 2005 documentary Pucker Up, which details the International Whistling Competition. Equally amused and bemused by the eccentric event, in 2012 she competed herself. Spending her early twenties in Berlin she then moved to LA to work in film – and returned to the contest in 2015 to take home first prize. One evening Molly did a turn at an open mic at the Kibitz Room, a tiny late-night bar inside historic LA deli Canter’s. Her display led to appearances at performance art happenings across the city, and she soon caught the ear of independent record label Jagjaguwar. On The Lips was recorded with producer Thomas Brenneck of the Menahan Street Band, Budos Band, Dap-Kings and El Michels Affair, at his newly-built Diamond West Studios in Pasadena. The pair bonded over the work of 1960s soundtrack composers Alessandro Alessandroni and Piero Piccioni, and, with something of an open door policy during the sessions, a stream of acclaimed musicians ended up across the album’s 10 tracks. With her intoxicating compositions, and wry brand of stagecraft (she might not be singing up there, but she can sure tell a joke) Molly Lewis looks set to join her heroes in the storied lore of the Los Angeles lounge scene and beyond. So pull up a chair, order your favorite drink, and prepare to fall for On The Lips. PERFORMER LINE-UP: On The Lips Molly Lewis - Whistle, guitar, vocals Joe Harrison - Flute, bass Eric Hagstrom - Drums, clave Thomas Brenneck - Organ Written by: Molly Lewis

S01E09: The World Hunger Shindig
The World Hunger Shindig is the first episode of the series that breaks the continuity and starts being episodic. Naturally that makes it perfect for one of the dull “Charity Good!” episodes where the moral of the story pretty much boils down to “If you’re a Good Person™ and Do Charity™ just like JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS™, you are Good!™ The MISFITS™ are Bad™ because they DON’T Do Charity!™
I know it’s a product of its time, kind of like how cartoons in the 90s had episodes about recycling, but that doesn’t make it any less boring.
The plot is pretty common for a Jem episode; the Holograms are doing a charity concert, the Misfits want to take their place for The Wrong Reason™, so Eric hires Zipper to bump the Holograms off. This doesn’t work, the Holograms end up succeeding anyway, and the Misfits gain nothing. Oh, and there’s a Beatles reference:
Forget about “Paul Is Dead,” we’ve got “Kimber is Pink!”
The most intriguing part of this episode, to me, was the reveal from Pizzazz that she knew Sean Harrison before he was famous.
This actually lends a little more depth to Pizzazz’s hate-boner for the Holograms. If they turned my old flame into a wuss who didn’t even want to hear my music, I’d be pretty bitter about it too.
Speaking of men having personality shifts, I just want to mention that Rio is a piece of shit in this episode as usual.
Backstage at the Shindig when Kimber's trying to get help, Rio sits there and pouts about how none of the other Holograms have talked to him, especially not Jerrica, "MY GIRLFRIEND!!"
Except when Jerrica spent time with him at the welcome party at the ranch, and when Jerrica wanted him to come with them to ride horses and he decided he’d go set up a stage for ten hours (of course after seeming bummed Jem wasn’t there, only Jerrica, his girlfriend.)
The absolute gaslighting gall of this man. He’s literally the only one who’s kept himself from the girls aside from the ONE time they can’t answer a phone call because they just got hit by a goddamn car and knocked out of a hayride. For all the “good” messages this show tries to send with having the characters be literal white saviors, there are just as many bad ones where Jerrica stays with Rio despite the 500 red flags he puts out every hour
(Aja and Shana can be Asian and black saviors respectively, but that doesn’t change how cringe it is for this candy-colored pop band to fly over a barren African savannah in a thresher and magically grow tons of food for the poor Africans.)
Aside from my nitpicking, this episode really doesn’t have any massive glaring flaws. There are some great uses of holograms (especially when Synergy announces them at the concert just in the nick of time,) but the two “We Are The World”-type songs and the really common plot just don’t do it for me. The cool Misfits song in the middle even has a gross sound effect over top of it, so I’m giving this one a C. Totally average.
Pizzazz's reckless driving earns her a year in jail and $2,500 in fines, BUT, this case is interesting. This is the first time in the series when there's more than one person in the car during a bout of reckless driving, and we all know what that means:
So Pizzazz, Roxy, Stormer, AND Sean Harrison are all charged! This leads to a total of 4 years in jail and $10,000 in fines.
Meanwhile, Eric conspired twice with Zipper to abduct and falsely imprison the Holograms AND to commit charity fraud. Doing the math, this earns the two together about $500,000 in fines and about 3 years in jail.
Grand Total: $510,000 in fines and 7 years in jail! On the bright side, maybe Sean Harrison will get some of his grittier personality back while behind bars? :P

people you'd like to know better
Tagged by @kirayaykimura who is a cheater because she knows me better than anyone else on this planet
1. Three ships
a. Captain Swan/Hook and Emma (Once Upon a Time) b. Hak and Yona (Yona of the Dawn) c. James and Teresa (Queen of the South)
2. First ship
Mamoru & Usagi from Sailor Moon. And I grew up on the defunct DiC dub so they were "Darien and Serena." TO THIS DAY: obsessed!
3. Last song
Adventures in Solitude by The New Pornographers
4. Last movie
The Little Mermaid (live-action). I enjoyed it. Pretty much a straight adaption but with more fleshed-out characters (except for Eric's mom...her arc was weird imho).
5. Currently reading
Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison because it's close to Halloween and let's do werewolf romance!
Also:
American Brujeria: Modern Mexican-American Folk Magic by J. Allen Cross. I'm trying to learn the curanderismo practices my Wilita was a practitioner of.
6. Currently watching
I just finished Queen of the South (finally!) last night and that will occupy my brain space for a little bit longer.
Also watching My Happy Marriage with Alex. Need to continue with The Bear. And I'm also on the lookout for something Halloween-y so if anybody has any suggestions...
7. Last thing I wrote
I wrote and FINISHED (but didn't publish outside of showing my closest friends) a little flash story that's basically a fucked up lil fairy tale. Last thing I wrote in general was a bit more dialogue for what might become my novel.

Posting some fan stands I made
Stand Name: 「Savoy Truffle」
Stand Reference: Savoy Truffle by the Beatles
Localised Name: 「Box of Chocolates」
User: Eric Harri
User Reference: Eric Clapton and George Harrison
Description: 「Savoy Truffle」takes the form of a purple and gold rectangular chocolate box with a hinged lid. The box is marked with the label of ‘lucky land confectionery’. Inside the box appears to be completely black however small chocolates of assorted shapes and designs can be removed from the box.
Stand Stats:
Power: E
Range: A
Speed: B
Precision: A
Durability: D
Potential: D
Ability:
The Chocolate: when a person eats or is fed a chocolate from 「Savoy Truffle」the chocolate will enact an effect on the person. This effect can be decided by Eric for himself and others as long as he is making physical contact with them when they eat the chocolate. 「Savoy Truffle」is unable to cause any direct physical harm with its effects (for example it can not cause a person’s bones to break, their heart to stop or to develop a sudden wound), however it is still able to cause ‘neutral’ effects (such as temporary loss of certain senses or temporary paralysis) and positive effects (「Savoy Truffle」is able to heal injuries in those who eat the chocolate).
The Cost: 「Savoy Truffle」’s effects require it to spend ‘energy’. The amount of energy is proportional to the strength of the effect. This energy can come from people’s bodies, plants, animals or food. By default the energy will be taken from the person who eats the chocolate (usually in the form of shrinking muscles or rotting teeth) however if the person under the effect of 「Savoy Truffle」 is touching something that can be substituted and states that they wish to use it out loud the energy will be taken from the alternative source.
User: Eric Harri is a small time criminal and fitness buff. Doing mainly extortion and intimidation. Despite his obsessions with fitness when preparing to use his stand Eric often binges on food in order to fill his body with enough calories to use his stand.

Stand: 「Doncamatic」
Localised Name: 「Tape Deck」
Stand Reference: Doncamatic by Gorillaz
Stand Type: Artificial Humanoid
Stand Stats:
Power: C
Range: B
Speed: B
Precision: C
Durability: D
Ability:
Forced Recording: When 「Doncamatic」punches someone or something it is able to forcefully eject a tape from it. This tape contains an audio recording of a period up to 5 minutes. Upon a tape exiting an object the force will damage it. In the case of humans or animals the tape will exit through their mouth. The tape will contain up to 5 minutes of audio of anything that occurred around person or thing from which the tape was ejected. The tapes are able to be played through a standard tape player or simply by 「Doncamatic」holding it.
Audio Visual reconstruction: 「Doncamatic」is able to crush any tape that has been ejected using its ability. When it does this the tape is destroyed and a reconstruction of the audio will appear formed out of small particles of glowing dust. The reconstruction takes the form of several static images of key moments of the recording. The reconstruction is able to be moved forward and backwards chronologically and paused.

Song Review: Mikaela Davis - “Promise”
Concocting a mix of All Things Must Pass-era George Harrison and Backless-period Eric Clapton, Mikaela Davis plays it safe on “Promise.”
Fueled with subdued guitars and compact at less than three minutes, the second single from And Southern Star (Aug. 4) is a wisp of pop with Davis’ trademark harp adding sparkle to her equally wispy voice as she sings:
When you cut your hair/were you trying to change for me/honey, you’re still there/like a promise I never wanted to keep
It’s a no-risk number that offers little reward in the process.
Grade card: Mikaela Davis - “Promise” - C-

Much Needed Field Upgrade Coming in St. C.
Three groups in St. Clairsville are coming together this spring to rectify one of the few athletic wrongs found within the city. The city’s Recreation Department, along with the school district and junior sports organization are leveraging their combined dollars, along with a recent $11,000 donation from Pirates Charities, to do some major improvements to the St. Clairsville Junior Sports Complex. One field in particular, Field 4; the formerly Bronco field now turned softball field for the upper age groups in the town’s recreational league. In short—it needs some work. When it rains, a miniature lake forms around the entirety of the outer ring of the infield. The playing surface itself has a noticeable dip in elevation as the field progresses from dirt to grass at the lip of the outfield. There are potholes, fencing issues, additional drainage issues, and dugouts that, while usable, could benefit from expansion. That’s the bad. What Field 4 also features is a lot of potential. There is a large, level parking lot with plenty of paces. The adjacent hill, while the culprit of many of the water issues on the playing surface, also provides a grass-laden hillside from which to sit and watch a game. There’s plenty of space and plenty of potential and that’s what recreation director Eric Gay, his department, and representatives from the school district and Jr. Sports hope to leverage. “Our goal with this project, and I’m speaking on behalf of a couple of different groups, is to put up new fencing, new dugouts, redo the infield and level it out.,” Gay began, noting that no, they are not getting turf. “We’re going to make that the best field out there and we’re hoping to put it all together and get started soon. We’re collaborating and doing this all together. We’re making this the facility we all want, but also one we can afford.” Yes, the list of softball teams in Eastern Ohio with turf facilities is growing. Schools of comparable size like Edison, Indian Creek, and Harrison Central all feature turf facilities. That’s not happening here, but the upgrades Gay speaks of will go a long way to turning this field from serviceable and borderline usable, into an enviable facility comparable to others within the town and district. The present varsity field for St. Clairsville softball. Once Field 4 is completed, the Lady Red Devils will call the upgraded facility their new home, whilst Jr. Sports will still maintain and make use of the current varsity field. The Plan The Lady Red Devils currently play up the road at Field No. 4, the varsity field. In recent years, the current high school team’s home received an updated scoreboard. But parking is a nightmare for parents and opposing teams’ bus drivers. Seating isn’t ideal either, but compared to Field 4, the Bronco Field, it’s downright immaculate. Field 4 is not in use this spring for games. Tackling the drainage issue is Job No. 1 and is already in process. “It’s something we’ve already started on out there,” Gay said. “That’s the first thing we needed to do is divert the water from getting onto the field. So far, we’ve seen a difference. “We’re not playing any games down there right now but it is being used as a practice field every evening.” Once all the work is done, Field 4 will become the new home for the Lady Red Devils, while the current varsity field will still be utilized by junior sports teams. This has been on Gay’s radar since he took the position of Recreation Director. A look at one of the dugouts at Field 4, along with the hillside where runoff causes major water issues in the infield. “When I took the job, one of the first things I did was look into how we could upgrade the fields out there, and that one in particular. “One of the really neat things about this project is you have three different organizations working to make these improvements and all three will be utilizing this facility. The rec department wants to get bigger into the baseball/softball scene, and possibly do some fall ball-type things. “And the Jr. Sports organization, I can’t say enough about them. It’s a volunteer organization and they have kept up with the fields ever since its inception in the mid-1980s. I can’t thank them enough for everything they do.” The plan received a boost recently when Pirates Charities announced the project received an $11,000 donation. That’s certainly a nice infusion of green for the project. “Realistically, we are hoping to dump about $80,000-$90,000 total into the project,” Gay admitted, noting that a number of $25,000 was a ballpark figure for the three organizations involved in the project to invest. “(Athletics Director) Justin Clifford and I are very close friends and the city and school district have such a good relationship, we all want to keep working toward the same goal here—giving the people that live in the town, the kids, the coaches, the best facilities we can. We owe that to the kids and the adults who put in so much time over there.” The result will be a new, upgraded facility for both the high school and Jr. Sports teams; one they will be proud to call home. January 7, 2023
The 7th Day of 2023
-Dear God, dear God, dear God
I’m sat upon the kitchen bench with my back against the wall, I’m not a child anymore but there’s something comforting about sitting as if I am. This year hasn’t begun how I anticipated it would. I’m feeling a whole lot and very little at the same time. Today grocery shopping didn’t have its usual therapeutic appeal and even though I found peace in cooking I thought writing might help process things. So as “Soft Sounds from Another Planet” by Japanese Breakfast echoes through the kitchen I’ll reflect. Somehow lately every year has started the same, "Vulnicura" by Björk.
Love will keep us safe from death.
I saw Abby this week, we got all dressed up just to sit in a carpark and eat takeout. Typical. I’m worried about Taliah, like me she hurts herself in helping others. I’m trying my best to be here for her but a voice in my head assures me I’m not good enough at this. I showed her Sisyphus 55’s newest video “do you want to be loved or do you want to be yourself?” Based on the title, I wasn’t sure this video would mean a whole lot to me, but it really resonated. The parts on Gabor Maté’s take on Type C Personalities and how they’re fabricated in childhood especially stuck with me. I’ve been thinking about Harrison again, this isn’t inherently bad, but I had hoped my feelings for him would subside in the new year. I guess I should’ve known that wouldn’t be the case. Time isn’t real and I’m not capable of forgetting my feelings at the moment. I’m left hung up like my clothes in the wind that ended up in the dirt.
I also saw Eric this week. I find him sweet, intuitive and inquisitive. These are all traits I admire, and at any other point in my life, I’d be absolutely head over heels for him. I suppose taking things slow for once could be a positive thing. I really do like him but I hope to like him some more soon. Anyways, we got dinner and were interviewed on the street. We walked and we sat in a park too. Up until now, we’ve been fairly platonic though our closeness this time is memorable. At some point we swapped jackets and at another, we held each other in the middle of the square for the whole world to see. He keeps on telling me I have a humanitarian superpower within, I’m not quite sure what he means by this but so far he’s done well reading me. Speaking of guys I should be in love with by now, Julian texted me. He hadn’t replied to me because his Australian number is no longer in service. He says he has stories to tell me and that he’s not enjoying Indonesia too much at the moment. I weirdly, really look forward to seeing him again in February, I tend to listen to his stories like they’re a book. Also, I imagine solid company, sex and weed will do wonders for me.
I should really read a book this month. I’ve been listening to “BURN TO ASHES” by Backxwash at nauseam again. It’s really become one of my favourite songs of all time. Verse 2 always hits me like it’s a freight train. I had the honour of seeing Remi Wolf perform at The Forum, on the day of I hadn’t eaten so I was in pain but it all went away once she stepped on stage. She is very easily one of the most excitable and talented performers I’ve witnessed in person. At the show, I met a mysterious character whose name I can’t recall at the moment. She’s here from the Philippines, visiting her sister. I found her aura to be interesting. That night I got off the train and danced the whole way home. Mum was asleep but I kissed her on the forehead goodnight and continued dancing as I got ready for bed. Kobe watched on confused. I felt so happy in that moment. Afterwards, I didn’t sleep, Alex and I played PlayStation until 6 in the morning. Some things never change.
I also got to see Shygirl this week. It was fucking incredible. During “Coochie (a bedtime story)” the crowd transcended sound itself we were so loud. I really love music venues that are underground, there’s no reception so it allows everybody to be there and nowhere else. Despite how important this night was to me, it didn’t come without the lingering of darker feelings. I went alone but really wanted to make friends there. I know it’s trivial but as well as having the desire to meet people I felt superbly introverted too, I wanted to make friends but not to be the one to initiate it. I left without any new friends. Oh, to be approachable. In the midst of the show I was on top of the world but my surroundings soon got the best of me. Post gig I walked along the river solemnly as if I was in a shitty movie. Drunk people make me dearly uncomfortable. For me, queer-dominated spaces seem to only incite indescribable loneliness. I hate that this happens, I guess I feel as if amongst these people I should fit in but I always seem to be just as out of place as ever. If I don’t belong in the settings meant for me to belong where do I? I felt disillusioned but found peace and camaraderie in an unusual place: Skateboarders who were too young to be out that late. I’m not sure why they approached me or how meeting them in that brief moment has stuck with me but I’m glad it happened. To witness the innocence of youth, to see their rebellion, to understand that freedom, everyone else in our carriage seemed bothered by it but I just hope the kid was finally able to snap his board. Also, I may have somehow made a friend who attended Shygirl, just not how I thought I would. The guy who stood beside me at the show and in line has been messaging me. He seems interesting, I wonder where this will go.
