Amanda gets Dawn a box of valentines after learning that she never exchanged valentines in elementary school, and it would be rude if she didn't do the same thing in return, right? She could handpick the ones she gave her in order to say how she feels about her in a way she can't bring herself to do any other way. Amanda won't notice, because how could she? It's a foolproof, perfect plan.

dressing for my job is kind of a daily struggle which i didn't anticipate bc there isn't even a dress code but it's just that it's very cold in the archive itself bc it has to be very carefully climate controlled to avoid damage to the books but lately it's been very hot outside so i've had to do a lot of clever layering so i don't freeze to death at work or melt during my commute. which comes with its own issues bc then i'm carrying around a bunch of extra clothes. but whatever it's a small price to pay for a job i genuinely enjoy

I need people to congratulate me for not being petty enough to point out that a friend of mine has been unemployed and freeloading off his parents for the past decade - despite being in his mid 30s now and perfectly capable of working - after he publicly soapboxed to tell me it was morally wrong to use a friend's library card to check out an ebook online 🙃

There's not really going to be a point for most of this but...having mild thoughts about Hob Gadlings metal bat under the bar of the New Inn.
He doesn't need a traditional "weapon", no fight will ever spell death for Hob. He doesn't need something that kills - it will never be 'me or them' bc Hob will always win out in that, always get back up. So he doesn't need something that kills. Just something to stop someone in their tracks. Hob metaphorically brings a gun to every knife fight bc not only does he have decades of soldiering and banditry behind him, but he's also just straight up immortal. No fight with other humans is going to be fair, he knows this, and it's a lot less acceptable to kill people these days anyway.
So a bat. Under the bar. Mainly because pulling it out is enough to scare most people these days, but also because Hob doesn't need to worry about getting shot before he can break some bones and knock out some teeth. Bullets won't stop him, he doesn't need to fight for his life. And if there's other people in the bar, well. The attackers are usually more inclined to focus on the guy rounding in on them with a weapon than the couple cowering behind their seats.
So there's a bat- one that's sat there for decades, with a grip that's not the original but is worn through like it might be, and a few loving dents here and there from the dense heads of bigots and people who robbed the wrong pub. The staff knows its there. It's free use. It's been pulled from its spot by bartenders and servers alike over the years, wielded as the threat it is, but Hobs been the only one to ever actually swing it. Better his conscience than theirs, he supposes.
Robert Gadlings metal bat under the New Inn bar...

I think. Sigh. The thing abt f1 and dominant eras is it’s actually just inevitable. A lot of people are chewing at the bit ready to call this the downfall of f1 and like it isn’t. Viewership also plummeted during peak Mercedes dominance. F1 is an engineering competition first and foremost. The reason other series have more overtaking is because they have more shared components between teams. F1 is special in its innovative potential. I don’t think that’s necessarily a problem no matter how infuriating it may be to fans. Idk. Acting like the us market declining is a sign of the downfall of f1 is hilarious like f1 survived without us viewership for most of its existence it’ll survive now. Like America isn’t the centre of the world idk. I’ll celebrate when they stop desperately trying to Americanise the sport idk 😭🤣

We crave simplicity. Technological advancements are awesome but the everyday person doesn't need a top of the line computer to pay their bills, send emails, and play solitaire, and we certainly don't need a digital assistant for it. I observe more and more people opting for "outdated" means, including myself. It looks like the vast majority of people are rejecting AI. Even further, several people are reverting to old processors to run old products using old software to avoid the mining and selling of our information and the invasion of privacy that you have to agree to in every privacy policy out there today just to do something as simple as sending an email. Some of us genuinely miss the days before you had to be suspicious of every website you visited. We miss being able to go to a website and having all our needs met without making an account or paying a subscription. We miss being the sole owners of our digital property. We're starting to go back to using external hard drives and SD cards to save our data, we want to revive those old desktops with Windows 8, we want to send an email without getting a sponsored ad about something we mentioned, and we just want to use a damn printer that you plug straight into the computer and you don't have to connect via Bluetooth or pay a monthly subscription to the software! Don't even get me started on cloud subscriptions. That'll be a separate post.
